- 0:04Speaker 1: the Order Kerni Whoalbury and a waddery woman. And before
- 0:08Speaker 1: we get started on She's on the Money podcast, I
- 0:11Speaker 1: would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land
- 0:14Speaker 1: of which this podcast is recorded on a wondery country,
- 0:18Speaker 1: acknowledging the elders, the ancestors and the next generation coming
- 0:22Speaker 1: through as this podcast is about connecting, empowering, knowledge sharing
- 0:27Speaker 1: and the storytelling of you to make a difference for
- 0:30Speaker 1: today and lasting impact for tomorrow.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Let's get into it.
- 0:34Speaker 3: She's on the Money, She's on the Money.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to the Property Playbook.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Oh no, we're She's on the Money that just launched
- 1:02Speaker 4: this week wrong, the podcast Millennials who Want Financial Freedom.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Today, my friends, is.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Friday, which means it is time to get the team
- 1:10Speaker 4: together and celebrate you and the launch of the Property Playbook,
- 1:15Speaker 4: because we are just so excited in this office about
- 1:17Speaker 4: how excited you guys are about this. So today we're
- 1:20Speaker 4: going to be sharing our favorite money tips and tricks.
- 1:22Speaker 2: We're going to be helping to.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Answer a juicy money dilemma which this week is all
- 1:25Speaker 4: about credit card, travel, insurance, and we're going to be
- 1:29Speaker 4: unpacking something that you slid into our DMS about which
- 1:32Speaker 4: this week is all about financial priorities in relationships, which
- 1:36Speaker 4: I think will be a good one.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Guys, Beck, how's your week been?
- 1:42Speaker 5: Week has been absolutely superb.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Oh that's a very passionate answer. I just you know.
- 1:50Speaker 5: I had a great weekend which led into a fantastic week.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Just chilling, just grilling, just seeing mates and feeling.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Good, chilling like a villain.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Yes, I'm going back to the y, which I'm very
- 2:01Speaker 5: happy about. I hate the gym, Honestly, I don't hate
- 2:05Speaker 5: it anymore.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Oh, I changed my mind. So I'd love to be fitter.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Yeah, those endorphins. You got to focus on the endorphins.
- 2:11Speaker 5: I do chocolate and watching movies and talking to my
- 2:15Speaker 5: That's a.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Really good way to do it.
- 2:17Speaker 5: But if you stop focusing on cardio, I mean, I'm
- 2:19Speaker 5: not this is not a financial podcast, I'm sorry. A
- 2:20Speaker 5: fitness podcast is a financials If you stop focusing on
- 2:23Speaker 5: cardio because cardio is objectively awful, and just do muscle training,
- 2:27Speaker 5: oh my god, my world has opened up.
- 2:29Speaker 4: You can just lift heavy stuff. Yeah, that's that's empowering too.
- 2:33Speaker 6: I like to think of the gym as my personal runway.
- 2:35Speaker 6: That's how I make it fun every day.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Cute.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I love that I won't be doing that though neither
- 2:41Speaker 4: of you have succeeded in convincing me that I want
- 2:43Speaker 4: to go back to the gym.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Miss Jessic Greech. How's your week being?
- 2:47Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, I've had the best week ever. The
- 2:50Speaker 6: Property Playbook, if you didn't know, already launched, which was
- 2:53Speaker 6: exciting and overwhelming because I got to be the host
- 2:56Speaker 6: this season. Yay.
- 2:58Speaker 4: It kind of makes sense because like you're a budding
- 3:01Speaker 4: first home buyer. They feel like you have a million questions,
- 3:05Speaker 4: and also you're kind of the voice of the community
- 3:08Speaker 4: in a way because exactly.
- 3:10Speaker 6: I'm right there in the trenches with you, guys, and
- 3:11Speaker 6: everyone has been so lovely. I was really really nervous
- 3:15Speaker 6: because I've never.
- 3:17Speaker 2: You did so well.
- 3:18Speaker 6: I've never been the main host, do you mean, like
- 3:20Speaker 6: normally I'm just here.
- 3:21Speaker 2: You're the main character now, guys, main character energy.
- 3:24Speaker 6: But I was really excited but also very stressed. And
- 3:27Speaker 6: everyone has been so kind and so lovely. But I'm
- 3:29Speaker 6: worried because in the episodes. We obviously always go, oh,
- 3:32Speaker 6: please leave us a review. But the problem I didn't
- 3:34Speaker 6: think about is there's a delay on the reviews.
- 3:37Speaker 2: So I'm like, I know that.
- 3:38Speaker 6: They're seen them, yeah, because we asked for them. So
- 3:41Speaker 6: I hope that people like them and they left nice reviews.
- 3:44Speaker 6: But there's a part of my anxious self that's like,
- 3:46Speaker 6: they hate you, They're awful. They're going to be like,
- 3:49Speaker 6: kick her.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Off the show.
- 3:51Speaker 5: One person is going to say that, because honestly, you
- 3:55Speaker 5: shouldn't be reading the reviews to begin with, Miss Jessica Ricci.
- 3:58Speaker 2: How many times have we talked about this?
- 4:00Speaker 5: How many times have I been like, don't read the
- 4:02Speaker 5: reviews because some people are really nice, which is so beautiful.
- 4:06Speaker 2: To see, but then there's that one percent some people
- 4:08Speaker 2: are mean? Yeah, Like why are people on the internet
- 4:11Speaker 2: so mean? Like why it makes no sense?
- 4:14Speaker 4: Like who goes and reviews someone's podcast and says and
- 4:18Speaker 4: they do this right, So like maybe I'm just taking
- 4:20Speaker 4: the Mickey Victoria's voice is so annoying.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Don't listen to my podcasts? Then yeah, don't listen.
- 4:26Speaker 4: It's a choice to be here, and like, maybe give
- 4:28Speaker 4: us some you know, constructive feedback. Be like, oh, hey,
- 4:32Speaker 4: this happens on the podcast, and our listening experience would
- 4:35Speaker 4: be better if you x ys great, that's stunning.
- 4:38Speaker 2: We love that. I can't change my voice, babe, can
- 4:41Speaker 2: tw me things I can change?
- 4:42Speaker 6: Yeah. Constructive feedback is welcome. Kind feedback even more welcome.
- 4:47Speaker 6: So hopefully this time next week will have some nice reviews.
- 4:50Speaker 6: But until it's nice, I'll be a little stressy.
- 4:52Speaker 4: That's okay somebody who actually wants to get on and
- 4:55Speaker 4: say mean things about other people and be like, oh
- 4:58Speaker 4: they're stinky.
- 4:59Speaker 5: Like someone did say Beck is boring, has no vibe
- 5:02Speaker 5: and I cried for five days.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Wait did you read the reviews? Shouldn't have? But so, basically,
- 5:09Speaker 2: but it's your fault you have no personality, exactly, it's
- 5:12Speaker 2: not my fault. I have no personality. Do not have noticed?
- 5:14Speaker 6: People are much more inclined to leave And it's not
- 5:18Speaker 6: just podcasting, it's website reviews, it's anything. People are much
- 5:21Speaker 6: more inclined to leave feedback when it's negative and much
- 5:24Speaker 6: less inclined to leave feedback when it's positive. True, which
- 5:27Speaker 6: I think is really interesting.
- 5:28Speaker 4: It's more emotion attached to negative energy than there is
- 5:31Speaker 4: positive energy, which kind of sucks, but it's also the
- 5:34Speaker 4: way that it's interpreted. Right, Like you said the negative
- 5:38Speaker 4: things about you, Beck, you also said the same things.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Do you know how many beautiful reviews we've had about you,
- 5:43Speaker 4: Like people love you. We've had beautiful podcast reviews. I've
- 5:46Speaker 4: had people messaging me on Instagram. I've had emails being like,
- 5:50Speaker 4: Beck was great, thank.
- 5:51Speaker 2: You so much.
- 5:51Speaker 5: I love you, know that because I've shown you that.
- 5:55Speaker 5: But all you're caring about is the negative reviews. True, No,
- 5:57Speaker 5: I do love us sometimes I see little comments, but anyway,
- 6:00Speaker 5: it's not about me. It's about discoa Chie and the
- 6:01Speaker 5: Property Playbook, and there will be no negative feedback if
- 6:05Speaker 5: there is, and don't worry about those people.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I can't even delete it, so you guys don't see it.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Like I want to be like in protective mode and
- 6:10Speaker 4: be like, no, I'll just remove that before she sees it.
- 6:13Speaker 4: But you can't remove them, so then you bloody idiot.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Go and read it, and then you feel really.
- 6:19Speaker 5: Damn because some idiot on the internet told me I
- 6:22Speaker 5: was stinky, Like.
- 6:24Speaker 6: Well, we're manifesting positive vibes, and we are. If you
- 6:27Speaker 6: haven't listened to the Property Playbook, We are so excited
- 6:29Speaker 6: that we are back with the new season, and this
- 6:31Speaker 6: season we have Property Diaries as a five new episodes.
- 6:34Speaker 6: We're talking to people about how they got into their property.
- 6:36Speaker 6: I'm asking the juicy questions, how much do they earn?
- 6:39Speaker 6: Did they get any help from their parents? Like we
- 6:41Speaker 6: are getting the facts and only the facts perfect so
- 6:45Speaker 6: that you don't feel bad and.
- 6:45Speaker 2: You can learn.
- 6:46Speaker 6: Everyone has a different journey.
- 6:47Speaker 4: And we've basically with a Property Playbook, wiped this like
- 6:50Speaker 4: clean because twenty twenty three buying a property is very
- 6:52Speaker 4: different to twenty twenty one buying a property, So we
- 6:55Speaker 4: just wanted to make sure that you had every single
- 6:57Speaker 4: piece of education at your disposal, but like really relevant
- 7:00Speaker 4: education because since we recorded the twenty twenty one edition
- 7:03Speaker 4: of the Property Playbook, like the first Time Super Savior scheme,
- 7:06Speaker 4: it's gone from thirty thousand dollars up to fifty thousand dollars.
- 7:09Speaker 4: And if you go listen to those old episodes, they're outdated.
- 7:12Speaker 4: You might learn something and it's not inaccurate for the
- 7:15Speaker 4: time it was published. But like, I don't want you
- 7:17Speaker 4: guys to be in a position where you have outdated information.
- 7:20Speaker 4: So basically just been like, all right, if you were
- 7:22Speaker 4: starting today, fantastic. So if you've already listened to that season,
- 7:26Speaker 4: that's fantastic. All of this content is new and fresh.
- 7:29Speaker 4: But if you've never joined us on the Property Playbook,
- 7:31Speaker 4: it's basically like starting from the start.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 7:33Speaker 4: All right, we need to get into the actual podcast
- 7:35Speaker 4: because all we're doing is talking about a different podcast
- 7:38Speaker 4: and that actually makes no sense. But miss Jessic Gotchi,
- 7:41Speaker 4: it is time for our community money wins and confessions.
- 7:44Speaker 2: What have you got for us this week?
- 7:46Speaker 6: Well, I'll start off with one that's on theme, a
- 7:48Speaker 6: property money win.
- 7:49Speaker 2: From Sary self indulgent, isn't it? She said? Money Win.
- 7:52Speaker 6: I talked to our broker and figured out that I
- 7:54Speaker 6: don't need to be in full time employment to purchase
- 7:57Speaker 6: a house in September, Which how good is that? Still
- 8:00Speaker 6: stay home with my child a few days a week.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Oh how good?
- 8:03Speaker 6: Power of talking to a broker. It really can change.
- 8:05Speaker 4: We talk about it all the time. If you guys
- 8:07Speaker 4: want to talk to a broker who basically is us,
- 8:09Speaker 4: just go and talk to the Zella Money team, because
- 8:11Speaker 4: I feel like so many people are apprehensive. They're like,
- 8:14Speaker 4: I'm not ready, go talk to them if you're not ready, Yeah,
- 8:17Speaker 4: they'll tell you when to come back. Now, help you
- 8:19Speaker 4: figure out your timeline. It's chef's kiss would.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Recommend turn out of ten? What's the next one?
- 8:23Speaker 6: Next? Money win comes from Marley who said money win.
- 8:26Speaker 6: I used my Macca's rewards points to treat myself to
- 8:28Speaker 6: a free mcflurry.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Turn out of ten.
- 8:30Speaker 5: In this economy, that is goodwin. Mcflurriy's are getting expensive tool.
- 8:35Speaker 5: I know, a pity saved as a penny. They say, McDonald's.
- 8:38Speaker 4: We need to talk as well, because they don't even
- 8:40Speaker 4: mix the mcflurries anymore.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Where's the flurry? Just a just a Sunday on top?
- 8:46Speaker 2: Hungry Jacks?
- 8:47Speaker 6: I think boycott boycott, moving right along before we start
- 8:51Speaker 6: a ride in the office.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Charlottes don't even need it. Charlotte said money win.
- 8:56Speaker 6: We got our electricity bill last week and it was
- 8:58Speaker 6: only eighty two dollars for the quarter as we got
- 9:00Speaker 6: our solar panels installed and turned on. And that's the
- 9:03Speaker 6: three adults in a house.
- 9:04Speaker 2: How good is that?
- 9:06Speaker 4: Also hot solar panel tip that I got from Glenn
- 9:08Speaker 4: James from my Millennial money because I watched his stories
- 9:11Speaker 4: over the weekend last weekend. It's coming into winter, so
- 9:14Speaker 4: obviously there's less sun in winter. Clean your solar panels
- 9:18Speaker 4: so they absorb more energy, because if there's like dirt
- 9:21Speaker 4: and stuff on top of them, they don't like absorb
- 9:23Speaker 4: as much energy as they could. So get up there
- 9:26Speaker 4: with some dishwashing liquid, give it a scrub, and your
- 9:28Speaker 4: energy bill is going to thank you. Brilliant's great welcome.
- 9:31Speaker 4: I'm not going to get on the roof. If I
- 9:32Speaker 4: had solar panels, I wouldn't do that. But it's a
- 9:34Speaker 4: good tip, a very good tip. My next one comes
- 9:37Speaker 4: from Lucy who said I got an Apple tag for
- 9:40Speaker 4: free thanks to my Medibank rewards points. I've now got
- 9:43Speaker 4: one very happy tracked cat.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Oh how good.
- 9:47Speaker 4: I've got trackers on my cats too, turn out of ten.
- 9:50Speaker 4: I just snoop on them during the day.
- 9:52Speaker 2: I would never have thought.
- 9:53Speaker 6: That you would get something like that on your medibank points,
- 9:56Speaker 6: so they go. If you've got a point system, it
- 9:58Speaker 6: pays to check if they've added fun you think.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Like the AI a vitality program like you get so
- 10:03Speaker 4: many good discounts and benefits from that. If you like
- 10:05Speaker 4: track in the app and it's actually really worth it. Incredible.
- 10:10Speaker 6: Last money when I have this week is from Jess,
- 10:12Speaker 6: who says money win. I adopted a fabulous furry friend
- 10:15Speaker 6: for zero dollars in adoption fee. It frees up the
- 10:18Speaker 6: budget allocated for a new puppy and Mark's guilt free
- 10:21Speaker 6: wardrobe shopping for this cool dude. His name is ry Kent.
- 10:24Speaker 6: For any ted LASSU fans, sadler, is there a picture,
- 10:30Speaker 6: There is a picture. He's very cute. Look at him, baby,
- 10:35Speaker 6: Look greyhound. I'm not gonna be I think, he might say.
- 10:41Speaker 6: For anybody who is looking for a money win in Melbourne,
- 10:43Speaker 6: My gosh, he.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Is a greyhound. She went, that's it. That's the greyhound
- 10:47Speaker 2: adoption Day.
- 10:48Speaker 6: I was gonna say, if you follow us on Instagram,
- 10:50Speaker 6: you'd be up with the adoption thing. Because our beautiful
- 10:54Speaker 6: team member Gabby fostered a greyhound named Laichi.
- 10:57Speaker 2: And he was actually the best dog.
- 10:59Speaker 6: He was a really sweet little honey pie and he
- 11:01Speaker 6: was obviously up for adoption. He'd been up for adoption
- 11:03Speaker 6: for a really long time, needed a bit of fostering,
- 11:05Speaker 6: and he got adopted this week, which was awesome. But
- 11:08Speaker 6: the event that he was adopted from was run by
- 11:11Speaker 6: Gap Greyhound adoption program and they were doing the same thing.
- 11:14Speaker 6: So they were giving away dogs so they could have
- 11:16Speaker 6: beautiful new homes and they have lots left so if anybody.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Nears and not of them got adopted.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Gabby has a greyhound she wanted to so she wanted
- 11:25Speaker 4: to keep Laichi, but we were talking about this in
- 11:27Speaker 4: this economy, she can't adopt Laichi. But also she's in
- 11:31Speaker 4: a rental. She was like, it's already hard enough with
- 11:33Speaker 4: one dog, Like two dogs is just going to be
- 11:35Speaker 4: too much. So she fosters. But oh my gosh, they're
- 11:38Speaker 4: the best dogs. Honestly. I asked Steve if we could
- 11:41Speaker 4: add one to the family and he was like, Victoria,
- 11:43Speaker 4: you already have two cats and one dog. Stop asking
- 11:45Speaker 4: for more pures. So I'm working on it, but please
- 11:48Speaker 4: do it on my behalf.
- 11:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 11:49Speaker 6: Absolutely, And it's a great tip from Jesse. Your local
- 11:51Speaker 6: shelters are a fantastic place to find yourself a little
- 11:54Speaker 6: fairy companion for an incredibly low price or often even free,
- 11:58Speaker 6: and you're doing some good by giving a little unwilling
- 12:00Speaker 6: you home.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I love that. That's so wholesome. That's very wholesome.
- 12:04Speaker 4: That's a good place to leave it, dreess, Let's go
- 12:05Speaker 4: to a really quick break. I'm going to go go
- 12:07Speaker 4: pictures of dogs, and then on the flip side, we're
- 12:09Speaker 4: going to be discussing credit card, travel insurance, and how
- 12:12Speaker 4: to manage financial priorities in relationships. So don't go anywhere, guys.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Welcome back everybody. Let's take a listen to this week's
- 12:24Speaker 2: money dilemma.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Hi, there, have you got a money dilemma you just
- 12:29Speaker 4: can't solve that. She's on the Money team is.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Here to help.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Every week we tackle your dilemmas, both big and small,
- 12:36Speaker 4: to answer your most burning money.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Career and life questions.
- 12:39Speaker 5: To get involved, simply head to our website and leave
- 12:42Speaker 5: us a short voice recording and you might just find
- 12:44Speaker 5: yourself on the show. Now, let's take a listen to
- 12:47Speaker 5: this week's money dilemma.
- 12:51Speaker 7: Hi, She's on the Money. Love your podcast. I'm just
- 12:54Speaker 7: getting in touch because I'm about to take nine months
- 12:57Speaker 7: career break and travel have a fabulous time, and I
- 13:02Speaker 7: have been weighing up the benefits of instead of getting
- 13:05Speaker 7: travel insurance policy, getting a credit card with included travel
- 13:10Speaker 7: insurance that has a high points bonus so that I
- 13:13Speaker 7: can leverage the points for some of the travel, and
- 13:17Speaker 7: the cost of the credit card would kind of be
- 13:19Speaker 7: balanced out against the cost of an insurance policy that
- 13:21Speaker 7: I'm not getting. I'd love to hear thoughts on pros
- 13:24Speaker 7: cons considerations, whether you think I'm being a massive idiot.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Thank you, this is your favorite subject.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, I don't think anyone's ever a massive idiot. Arguably,
- 13:34Speaker 4: you want of the most intelligent people in the community
- 13:36Speaker 4: because you know to ask the pros which is just
- 13:39Speaker 4: in beck.
- 13:40Speaker 2: So let's take it away. Yes, you go back. I
- 13:44Speaker 2: think that you are doing a good job. She's on
- 13:47Speaker 2: the right track.
- 13:47Speaker 6: I feel like she has consciously thought about the cost
- 13:51Speaker 6: benefit analysis. Yeah, she's gone, Okay, my credit card has
- 13:53Speaker 6: a fee on it. I can potentially offset that fee
- 13:56Speaker 6: by saving own insurance policy that I have to get.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Savvy queens. Savvy queen.
- 14:00Speaker 6: The only thing that I'm not super across as someone
- 14:03Speaker 6: who hasn't had a credit card for a very long time,
- 14:05Speaker 6: is how comprehensive do you think travel insurance that's included
- 14:09Speaker 6: in a credit card is? And VD I feel like
- 14:11Speaker 6: you're going to be the person who knows the most here.
- 14:13Speaker 7: Mmmm.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Yeah, A bit negative on this topic asking thanks for USKI.
- 14:18Speaker 4: I think it's really smart, right, Like I would prefer
- 14:20Speaker 4: you to have free travel insurance through your credit card
- 14:26Speaker 4: then no travel insurance at all, right, So like anything
- 14:29Speaker 4: is better than nothing, and credit card travel insurance is
- 14:32Speaker 4: basically an insurance policy that you get which is included
- 14:36Speaker 4: with the premiums of your credit card. It's a very
- 14:38Speaker 4: big misconception that every single credit card will come with
- 14:42Speaker 4: a travel insurance policy. So make sure you're not just
- 14:44Speaker 4: assuming you're actually looking into it. And also I think
- 14:48Speaker 4: we need to really tap into the fact that if
- 14:50Speaker 4: that's why you're getting a credit card, I mean the
- 14:52Speaker 4: points thing aside, you do you work out what works
- 14:54Speaker 4: for you, because that can be quite lucrative for some people,
- 14:57Speaker 4: but a credit card in the wrong hands can actually
- 14:59Speaker 4: be really detrimental. And while this travel insurance might be
- 15:03Speaker 4: marketed as free or like complementary, these policies are typically
- 15:06Speaker 4: paid through you around your fees anyway. So if you're
- 15:09Speaker 4: only signing up for the travel insurance and there's a
- 15:12Speaker 4: credit card with no fees on it that gives you
- 15:15Speaker 4: access to points, maybe that might be better. And having
- 15:18Speaker 4: a standalone policy that you've gone and got for that
- 15:21Speaker 4: particular trip. So there's a few things that I would
- 15:24Speaker 4: look at when looking at complementary travel insurance. The first
- 15:28Speaker 4: thing is a lot of them will exclude a lot
- 15:32Speaker 4: of things because it's complementary, right. You just think of
- 15:35Speaker 4: it as like the base level, one size fits all. Yeah, exactly,
- 15:38Speaker 4: it's one size fits all. So like if you're going
- 15:40Speaker 4: to New Zealand, for example, might not include snow sports
- 15:44Speaker 4: or something that you want to be covered for, so
- 15:46Speaker 4: we need to look into that. It might not include
- 15:48Speaker 4: you driving a vehicle, so it might mean that just yep,
- 15:51Speaker 4: you're fine to go. But also if you drive, it's
- 15:54Speaker 4: nil and voice it might not cover up to the
- 15:57Speaker 4: amount of cover that you want to have. Your luggage
- 16:01Speaker 4: is worth ten thousand dollars and maybe they only cover
- 16:03Speaker 4: up to two thousand dollars for luggage if in that
- 16:06Speaker 4: circumstance that your luggage gets lost, that's actually a very
- 16:09Speaker 4: big difference, right, And these things add up, right, Like
- 16:12Speaker 4: if I said, oh, Beck, your your bag could be
- 16:14Speaker 4: worth ten grand, You'll be like, no V, it's not,
- 16:17Speaker 4: I promise you.
- 16:18Speaker 2: All of those things add up, from the expensive.
- 16:20Speaker 4: Jumpers you might own, to your iPhone to chargers. Like
- 16:23Speaker 4: all these things really add up. And if you're anything
- 16:26Speaker 4: like Mistress Gricci, you don't go anywhere without your dice
- 16:29Speaker 4: and air wrap.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Now that's easy eight hundred bucks these days.
- 16:32Speaker 6: And you don't travel light either, So no, even if
- 16:35Speaker 6: you're clothed, you know, average you have forty to fifty dollars.
- 16:37Speaker 6: If you've got ten of those, that's already.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Five hundred bucks.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Right.
- 16:40Speaker 4: It's not even how much they cost you to buy,
- 16:43Speaker 4: because you might go and get a good T shirt,
- 16:45Speaker 4: really great quality, you've saved up for it, but then
- 16:47Speaker 4: you found it on sale. If you have to replace
- 16:49Speaker 4: that here now because you have no clothes anymore, like,
- 16:51Speaker 4: that's going to usually be a higher premium.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Don't get me started on.
- 16:55Speaker 4: The people like me who are very invested in their
- 16:58Speaker 4: skincare and makeup routines. I don't want to think about
- 17:01Speaker 4: how much my makeup bag costs me Like that makes
- 17:03Speaker 4: me a little bit sick.
- 17:05Speaker 2: But there's a few things that we need to take
- 17:06Speaker 2: into consideration.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Right, So, if you went and got a standalone policy,
- 17:10Speaker 4: more often than not they might be underwritten by an underwriter,
- 17:13Speaker 4: and most credit card policies like they're underwritten by the
- 17:17Speaker 4: same companies that you would go and get a policy from,
- 17:19Speaker 4: but they're more of a group policy and they have
- 17:22Speaker 4: less bells and whistles. You could say, you might not,
- 17:25Speaker 4: as we said before, be covered for any of the
- 17:28Speaker 4: activities you want to do, so as I said, skiing
- 17:30Speaker 4: or driving or you know, going on a scooter in Bali, Like,
- 17:33Speaker 4: there are so many things it might actually cost you
- 17:36Speaker 4: more than a standalone policy. So like your annual credit
- 17:40Speaker 4: card fees, Let's say it's four hundred bucks and you're
- 17:42Speaker 4: going on a trip to Bali for ten days, your
- 17:45Speaker 4: insurance at a good quality insurance is very likely to be.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Less than four hundred dollars.
- 17:50Speaker 4: And if you're only going on one holiday a year,
- 17:51Speaker 4: but you're paying for the credit card to get the
- 17:53Speaker 4: travel insurance, that's actually a money loss because the intention
- 17:56Speaker 4: actually cost you more money than actually you know, working
- 17:59Speaker 4: it all out. But then there are also exclusions of
- 18:02Speaker 4: different countries, so you might look at your policy and go,
- 18:05Speaker 4: I really want to go to the US not included.
- 18:08Speaker 4: So it just pays to do your research. Am I
- 18:11Speaker 4: saying it's the worst. Absolutely not. It might work really
- 18:14Speaker 4: well for you, but from my perspective, I'm the type
- 18:17Speaker 4: of person who likes super comprehensive travel insurance. We did
- 18:21Speaker 4: that episode recently on the cost of care with my
- 18:23Speaker 4: friend Rhann and Tracy, who became a quadriplegic after diving
- 18:26Speaker 4: into a pool in Bali, Stone Cold. Sobash was just
- 18:29Speaker 4: having a nice holiday with her mum and it ended
- 18:32Speaker 4: up costing hundreds of thousands of dollars just to get
- 18:35Speaker 4: her home. Obviously, there's a whole heap of lifetime costs
- 18:38Speaker 4: that I'm not going to go into. But if she
- 18:40Speaker 4: had the wrong insurance policy, that could have cost her
- 18:43Speaker 4: family hundreds of thousands of dollars. As I've said before,
- 18:46Speaker 4: I do not believe in going on a holiday without
- 18:49Speaker 4: travel insurance.
- 18:50Speaker 5: And if you say you can't afford it, from my perspective,
- 18:52Speaker 5: you cannot afford to go on holiday.
- 18:54Speaker 2: End of story.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Like I just think, if you're not going to get
- 18:57Speaker 4: it back, then you shouldn't be going on that holiday.
- 18:59Speaker 4: It's me, as somebody in the position where I have
- 19:02Speaker 4: seen this happen far too many times because I used
- 19:05Speaker 4: to live in the insurance world. It breaks my heart
- 19:07Speaker 4: and it's just for me a non negotiable. So I
- 19:10Speaker 4: just think we need to make sure that you have
- 19:11Speaker 4: a look at the cost benefits and work out what
- 19:14Speaker 4: that means. And the best way you can do that
- 19:16Speaker 4: is go, okay, cool, I'm going to go work out
- 19:18Speaker 4: what a standalone policy would actually include and make sure
- 19:22Speaker 4: that I'm ticking all the boxes that are important to
- 19:24Speaker 4: me with my credit card insurance. But from my perspective
- 19:27Speaker 4: as someone who has historically had a credit card, I've
- 19:30Speaker 4: actually gone and gotten standalone travel insurance in addition because
- 19:33Speaker 4: it just wasn't enough.
- 19:35Speaker 6: And if you want more information about the things you
- 19:36Speaker 6: should think about, we did a whole episode last year
- 19:39Speaker 6: called Talking Travel Insurance where we got really in depth
- 19:42Speaker 6: about the things you want to think about, the little
- 19:44Speaker 6: bits and pieces that I feel like the everyday person
- 19:45Speaker 6: like us wouldn't consider if we hadn't spoken to someone
- 19:48Speaker 6: about it.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Alex, I want to make sure you're in the best
- 19:50Speaker 4: possible position. It's not a silly question at all. You
- 19:53Speaker 4: just don't know until you get told, so I think,
- 19:55Speaker 4: from my perspective, go and have a look, because, to
- 19:58Speaker 4: be honest, to some credit cards you come with a
- 20:01Speaker 4: very very good travel insurance, but you'd have to review
- 20:04Speaker 4: the policy and make sure that that works for you,
- 20:06Speaker 4: because every single person is different.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Very well said, thank you. I feel like I'm on
- 20:10Speaker 2: a rant today, Like you know those rant vibes that
- 20:12Speaker 2: I end up getting Jess like, I just go, oh
- 20:15Speaker 2: my god. All right, so you want to talk about
- 20:16Speaker 2: credit card, travel insurance? Sit down?
- 20:18Speaker 6: Well, I feel like this week's community question is really
- 20:21Speaker 6: just going to light a fire under that.
- 20:23Speaker 4: I'm so sorry, Please still love me. It's not my
- 20:26Speaker 4: fault that I just go rogue. I get excited because
- 20:30Speaker 4: I just want you guys to be in the best
- 20:31Speaker 4: possible position, and I really really do promise.
- 20:35Speaker 6: All right, Well, tell us what did this week's community member.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Have to say?
- 20:38Speaker 4: Hey, girls, love the pod and would appreciate a hand.
- 20:41Speaker 4: I've been with my boyfriend for three years now. We
- 20:43Speaker 4: don't live together, but it's in discussions. I have one
- 20:47Speaker 4: major thing that's stopping me. His lack of financial literacy
- 20:51Speaker 4: and desire to get a full time job scares me.
- 20:54Speaker 4: I'm really set and have big goals and plans that
- 20:56Speaker 4: I would love to involve him in. However, here he
- 21:00Speaker 4: works around three shifts a week at a gym. He
- 21:02Speaker 4: doesn't seem to care about finding full time work, and
- 21:04Speaker 4: Whenever I try and tell him, wouldn't the extra cash
- 21:07Speaker 4: be good? He just doesn't seem to care. There's three
- 21:10Speaker 4: question marks after that. I also feel like he doesn't
- 21:13Speaker 4: have any motivation to earn or save money to be
- 21:16Speaker 4: able to go on holidays together, which upsets me sometimes
- 21:18Speaker 4: as it's something I would love to do. He got
- 21:21Speaker 4: a bit of inheritance that I feel like he really
- 21:23Speaker 4: relies on, but I'm worried he will blink and it'll
- 21:26Speaker 4: all be gone. I'm struggling to see a future with us,
- 21:29Speaker 4: so when we have such different money, golts and values.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Do you have any advice?
- 21:35Speaker 5: I feel like I'm going to be a black sheep
- 21:37Speaker 5: here because I can see everyone's face and I know
- 21:39Speaker 5: that I'm going.
- 21:40Speaker 2: To have a different opinion. I think I'm going to
- 21:41Speaker 2: be on your team, to be honest, do you think so? Okay?
- 21:44Speaker 5: Well, I'm just going to say that for a large
- 21:47Speaker 5: portion of my life, probably even still to this day,
- 21:50Speaker 5: my focus is living and I was trying to get
- 21:54Speaker 5: to a point in my life where I would be
- 21:56Speaker 5: making enough to just exist and then I would be
- 21:59Speaker 5: doing everything that I love outside of work, seeing friends,
- 22:02Speaker 5: laying in the grass, lang in the sun.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 22:07Speaker 5: If you guys follow back on Insta. You know, she
- 22:10Speaker 5: actually genuinely does that a lot friends, to lay in
- 22:13Speaker 5: the grass. That's all I do, and that's like, that's
- 22:16Speaker 5: my priority. And some people's priority is like, you know, working,
- 22:19Speaker 5: getting a full time job and saving money and reaching
- 22:22Speaker 5: all these financial goals. I totally get that, and I
- 22:25Speaker 5: actually really respect that. I don't. I think you maybe
- 22:28Speaker 5: either have that passion that drive or or you don't,
- 22:31Speaker 5: but you can you can gain that, of course, but
- 22:34Speaker 5: I think that some people have different priorities in life
- 22:37Speaker 5: and you can be so excited to just live outside
- 22:41Speaker 5: of work.
- 22:41Speaker 4: I agree, you know, I agree. I think you're going
- 22:43Speaker 4: to be really surprised. I think Jess and I are
- 22:45Speaker 4: on the same page about this as well. Jess, do
- 22:47Speaker 4: you want to give your opinion and then I'll give mine?
- 22:51Speaker 6: Yeah, No, I think I can say I produce analysa
- 22:53Speaker 6: IVI other side of the table being like, no red flag.
- 22:57Speaker 6: I agree with you, but it's different priorities. I think
- 23:00Speaker 6: the thing here is that you have to go okay,
- 23:03Speaker 6: like is the difference in priority is an issue for
- 23:05Speaker 6: me because I think as someone who definitely falls into
- 23:08Speaker 6: the more driven category. You know, if you feel like
- 23:11Speaker 6: somebody is compromising those goals, is that going to put
- 23:14Speaker 6: a strain on your relationship? And I guess you have
- 23:16Speaker 6: to weigh up how much you love this person, how
- 23:19Speaker 6: much they fill your cup in other ways, because obviously
- 23:22Speaker 6: there is much more that someone can contribute to a
- 23:24Speaker 6: relationship than just finances. So I think what you have
- 23:27Speaker 6: to do is kind of go, Okay, I'm allowed to
- 23:30Speaker 6: be upset or I'm allowed to be uncomfortable with the
- 23:34Speaker 6: fact that we have such different viewpoints on something as
- 23:36Speaker 6: significant as money, and you have to decide is that
- 23:40Speaker 6: going to be a deal breakup? Because the way that
- 23:42Speaker 6: I kind of look at relationships is, in an ideal world,
- 23:45Speaker 6: if you're in a monogamous relationship, you guys are going
- 23:47Speaker 6: to be together and you're going to be each other's
- 23:50Speaker 6: rock for the next sixty to ninety years of your life.
- 23:53Speaker 6: Like we're shooting for one hundred years. Yeah, Like you're
- 23:55Speaker 6: going to be able to see for a.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Long long time.
- 23:58Speaker 6: And I think if there are things that feel big now,
- 24:03Speaker 6: they're probably going to continue to feel big for the
- 24:05Speaker 6: duration of your relationship. And do you want to be
- 24:07Speaker 6: sitting on something like that for another sixty years. How
- 24:11Speaker 6: is that going to make you feel? Because it has
- 24:13Speaker 6: the potential to undermine that relationship. Yes, your partner could change,
- 24:17Speaker 6: Yes you could change. You know, nobody's entirely inflexible. But if,
- 24:21Speaker 6: as you said, it does come down to I like
- 24:24Speaker 6: X and you like why and neither of us want
- 24:26Speaker 6: to change, then is that going to be a problem
- 24:28Speaker 6: long term?
- 24:29Speaker 4: I genuinely couldn't agree more. I think our producer has
- 24:32Speaker 4: thrown this one in here because she thought it did
- 24:33Speaker 4: start a fight between us, And maybe we'll get to
- 24:36Speaker 4: a fight in our dms, like when we get people's responses.
- 24:40Speaker 4: But from my perspective, money doesn't have to be the
- 24:43Speaker 4: biggest thing in a relationship. To me, it's important to
- 24:45Speaker 4: have a level of financial literacy. If your partner is,
- 24:48Speaker 4: you know, wasting money and getting you in debt, like,
- 24:50Speaker 4: that's a different story than him not having money as
- 24:54Speaker 4: a main priority, right. And I think if we changed
- 24:57Speaker 4: this narrative, like, pretend it's my husband writing this letter
- 25:00Speaker 4: and it's him being so upset that I don't engage
- 25:03Speaker 4: with him on his favorite hobby golf. Like Victoria, I've
- 25:06Speaker 4: been with her for eight years and ome gosh, we
- 25:09Speaker 4: live together, and she just still.
- 25:12Speaker 5: Doesn't come to golf with me. She won't engage with
- 25:15Speaker 5: golf with me. She doesn't care when I go to golf.
- 25:18Speaker 5: She stays at home, sleeps in Like I think that's lazy,
- 25:23Speaker 5: you know what I mean? If we reframe that, he's
- 25:26Speaker 5: just got different values than me, and that's okay. I
- 25:29Speaker 5: am wildly passionate about financial literacy, and I'm assuming that
- 25:32Speaker 5: because you listen to our content, you are too.
- 25:35Speaker 2: That's so beautiful.
- 25:36Speaker 4: Have an open, honest conversation with your partner because it
- 25:39Speaker 4: could go back to what you're talking about. Beck just
- 25:42Speaker 4: doesn't want to work his life away.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Yeah, there are a lot of people.
- 25:44Speaker 4: In that circumstance where they don't want to do the
- 25:47Speaker 4: nine to five Monday to Friday grind.
- 25:48Speaker 2: And do you know what that should actually be? Okay,
- 25:51Speaker 2: it's not an expectation, like where did that even come from?
- 25:54Speaker 2: Why is that how we are expected to live our lives?
- 25:57Speaker 4: I think obviously having a level of financial litch receives
- 26:00Speaker 4: something that everybody deserves.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Whether you want to know, do.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Heaps of saving goals and pop up your saving chart
- 26:06Speaker 4: on the fridge, and you know, work towards holidays, like,
- 26:09Speaker 4: have you actually talked to your partner about what holidays mean?
- 26:12Speaker 4: Because Beck, let's just like, look at you and Jess,
- 26:15Speaker 4: Jess obsessed with travel, Like I think she would use
- 26:19Speaker 4: her last dollar to go on a holiday, Like genuinely,
- 26:22Speaker 4: travel is, from my perspective, something that she really really values.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think you care that much.
- 26:27Speaker 4: I think you just want freedom to go and get
- 26:29Speaker 4: a bagel in the morning. And if I said, is
- 26:31Speaker 4: it in Italy, you'd be like, oh, I mean, that'd
- 26:33Speaker 4: be all right.
- 26:33Speaker 5: But have you seen the place down the street, place
- 26:36Speaker 5: on Sydney Road in BRUNSWI got that's where I want
- 26:38Speaker 5: to be.
- 26:39Speaker 2: But do you know what I mean?
- 26:39Speaker 4: We've all got different values and he might just not
- 26:42Speaker 4: have the same values as you. And you're right, Jess,
- 26:45Speaker 4: maybe we need to have a conversation about what that
- 26:48Speaker 4: looks like. And if you are really passionate and wild
- 26:52Speaker 4: about travel, is that partner the right partner for you?
- 26:55Speaker 2: I guess is the question.
- 26:56Speaker 4: I don't think someone should have to change significantly to
- 26:59Speaker 4: be in a relationship. Obviously, being on the same page
- 27:03Speaker 4: when it comes to money is really important, But I
- 27:06Speaker 4: also don't think that your partner should compromise his lifestyle
- 27:09Speaker 4: to commit to a lifestyle that you want, because that's
- 27:12Speaker 4: then compromising his wants and his needs and his values.
- 27:15Speaker 4: And you don't think that we should do that too
- 27:17Speaker 4: much in a relationship. Like, at the end of the day,
- 27:20Speaker 4: relationships are all about compromise. We need to come to
- 27:23Speaker 4: some agreement and not everybody is always going to get
- 27:25Speaker 4: one hundred percent what they want because that's not how
- 27:27Speaker 4: life works. But if his value set is so different
- 27:30Speaker 4: to yours, maybe we talk about whether that relationship is
- 27:33Speaker 4: sustainable in the long term, or we talk about other
- 27:36Speaker 4: ways in which you could feel fulfilled. Can you go
- 27:38Speaker 4: on holidays with your girlfriends? Is that something where maybe
- 27:41Speaker 4: instead of going with your partner, you go, well, I
- 27:43Speaker 4: really do want to go to Italy, Honey, how about
- 27:45Speaker 4: I go ask Jess if she wants.
- 27:47Speaker 2: To come with me? And Jess and I are going
- 27:49Speaker 2: to go July next year. He might go, yeah, right,
- 27:51Speaker 2: have fun?
- 27:52Speaker 5: Do you know what I mean?
- 27:53Speaker 4: Like, we all have different value sets? And I think
- 27:56Speaker 4: that that's actually okay.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Absolutely I do agree. That's why you thought the conversation
- 28:00Speaker 2: we'll go, But I did not.
- 28:01Speaker 5: I really thought you guys would be on the opposite
- 28:03Speaker 5: end of that.
- 28:04Speaker 2: So I'm I'm kind of stoked you're kind of stoked. Yeah,
- 28:07Speaker 2: I'm kind of stoked with this.
- 28:08Speaker 4: I'm a bit disappointed that you thought that we would
- 28:11Speaker 4: be like ye. But we did ask the community a
- 28:14Speaker 4: few things. So we said, have you experienced something like
- 28:16Speaker 4: this with your significant other? Thirty eight percent of you
- 28:19Speaker 4: said yes, sixty two percent said no. We then said,
- 28:23Speaker 4: if yes, do you find it puts a strain on
- 28:25Speaker 4: your relationship? So this is just the people saying like, yeah,
- 28:28Speaker 4: we have you know, experienced something like this with my partner.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Ninety three percent of people said yeah, it does put
- 28:34Speaker 4: a strain on a relationship. Only seven percent of you
- 28:37Speaker 4: said no. I'd love to talk to the seven percent
- 28:40Speaker 4: where they're like, I've experienced that in my relationship, but
- 28:42Speaker 4: also doesn't put strain on my relationship.
- 28:45Speaker 5: M how please share with us. I feel like we've
- 28:48Speaker 5: got a lot to learn from you. We then said,
- 28:50Speaker 5: have you ever been in a relationship that ended due
- 28:53Speaker 5: to difference in financial goals or values? Forty five percent
- 28:57Speaker 5: of you said yes. That's a lot right to me.
- 29:00Speaker 4: That's a really big segment of the community that has
- 29:02Speaker 4: been in a relationship that's ended because you couldn't get
- 29:04Speaker 4: on the same page when it comes to money. And
- 29:07Speaker 4: that's important though, that's really important.
- 29:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it's it's hard because you go, well,
- 29:13Speaker 6: where do you weigh it up? And everyone's going to
- 29:15Speaker 6: land differently. Some people might be like, you know what,
- 29:16Speaker 6: I can let it go, and I can I'm happy
- 29:18Speaker 6: to compromise, and for other people they're like, no, like
- 29:21Speaker 6: my way or the highway, and both of those are
- 29:23Speaker 6: totally fine. But it's just fitting that into the relationship
- 29:26Speaker 6: that you have and figuring out what that I suppose
- 29:28Speaker 6: means for you and your partner.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:30Speaker 4: We also then ask the community, well, give us your
- 29:33Speaker 4: two cents and here are some of those comments. So
- 29:35Speaker 4: someone said, have a good chat mental health problems, maybe
- 29:38Speaker 4: any willing lists to change.
- 29:40Speaker 2: If not wild to think or that is fit me.
- 29:45Speaker 4: Yep. Someone else said this onn will get chat. Do
- 29:48Speaker 4: not move in with this man. He is a child
- 29:51Speaker 4: who will drain your time, energy and resources.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Oh my days. If you're going to talk to.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Me about a man child, hear me out. I feel
- 30:01Speaker 4: like to me, the definition of a man child is
- 30:03Speaker 4: someone who doesn't clean up after themselves and expects you
- 30:06Speaker 4: to act like their mother and do their laundry and
- 30:08Speaker 4: do all of that stuff. What if he just doesn't
- 30:10Speaker 4: want to go to work and do a nine to
- 30:12Speaker 4: five monthed Friday job because he happens to have hobbies
- 30:14Speaker 4: that he's passionate about and would like to engage in
- 30:16Speaker 4: those instead, and has found a way in his part
- 30:20Speaker 4: time work to make enough money that he can make
- 30:22Speaker 4: that choice.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Yeah, is that not sick? That is pretty sick.
- 30:25Speaker 4: That's not a man child to me, No, like a
- 30:27Speaker 4: man child will be my partner doesn't do anything he
- 30:31Speaker 4: calls me mum, do you know what I mean?
- 30:34Speaker 1: Like?
- 30:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I think as well. We don't have enough information yet,
- 30:38Speaker 6: so I feel like the other thing is does he
- 30:41Speaker 6: you know, can he within his budget? As you you
- 30:43Speaker 6: know you've just said, maybe he has enough to like
- 30:44Speaker 6: afford what he wants to do? Can he afford to
- 30:46Speaker 6: for you guys to go out to dinner together and
- 30:48Speaker 6: to split the bill? Can he afford to go one
- 30:51Speaker 6: date night? If you're there are things I guess in
- 30:53Speaker 6: a relationship that all of time do sometimes cost money.
- 30:56Speaker 6: And if he's covering his living expenses, that's awesome. But
- 30:59Speaker 6: if he can't cover. I guess those additional things again,
- 31:02Speaker 6: is that going to be an issue?
- 31:04Speaker 4: Someone else said, sometimes people are really good for you,
- 31:08Speaker 4: but for a season, they aren't on the same journey
- 31:10Speaker 4: as you. Long term, that's much nicer, that's much nice.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Such so to put it, someone said, different financial goals
- 31:16Speaker 4: and values reflect a difference in overall values, especially if
- 31:19Speaker 4: there's not going to be any compromise.
- 31:21Speaker 2: I feel like that's good.
- 31:23Speaker 4: Someone else said, leave him. Your values do not align.
- 31:27Speaker 4: People seem like they're very firmly aggressive. Yeah, one way
- 31:30Speaker 4: or the other.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with that.
- 31:32Speaker 5: I think that the values thing, the last one you
- 31:36Speaker 5: read out is very black and white. Yeah, you're values
- 31:39Speaker 5: in align. You guys can break up if you want to.
- 31:41Speaker 5: But leaving this guy because he's maybe you know, not
- 31:45Speaker 5: got the same financial goals, I don't know that seem
- 31:47Speaker 5: to be mean.
- 31:48Speaker 4: I also just I feel like there's this unnecessary pressure
- 31:51Speaker 4: or expectation that everybody should be career motivated.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody should want to be the best of the
- 31:59Speaker 2: best and earn the most.
- 32:00Speaker 4: And I just I don't agree, Like, I think there's
- 32:03Speaker 4: something really sexy, genuinely about someone who's just like nah,
- 32:07Speaker 4: live in my life, Like I envy the way that
- 32:10Speaker 4: you go love my life, love this, got enough money
- 32:13Speaker 4: to do that, Gonna go lay in the grass and
- 32:14Speaker 4: have a sick time like that.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Is that is to me goals like that is so cool.
- 32:20Speaker 4: And I don't think we give enough respect to people
- 32:23Speaker 4: who just know themselves so well.
- 32:25Speaker 2: They're like, I don't want to do that. Yeah, totally.
- 32:27Speaker 5: I think if you're not leaching off of someone else,
- 32:28Speaker 5: if you're just like living your own life, you're never
- 32:31Speaker 5: borrowing money, you're never needing from anyone else, You're just
- 32:34Speaker 5: living your own life. Do that however you want to
- 32:35Speaker 5: do that. You know, whether that's working one day or
- 32:38Speaker 5: five days or seven.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Days, you can still have the life that you want
- 32:41Speaker 4: with a partner that might not be on the same journey.
- 32:44Speaker 4: If that's the compromise that you want to make. And
- 32:46Speaker 4: as I said before, you could travel without them. You
- 32:48Speaker 4: could you know, save up for things without them, Like
- 32:50Speaker 4: you don't need a man like you. A man is
- 32:53Speaker 4: not a financial plan. We've talked about this before, like,
- 32:55Speaker 4: you can do whatever you want. I'm not going to
- 32:57Speaker 4: read out a lot of the other comments because, to
- 32:59Speaker 4: be honest, I felt like they were quite judgmental this week,
- 33:02Speaker 4: and I'm all about sharing honest, open opinions, but I
- 33:05Speaker 4: just feel like calling someone a man child consistently and
- 33:09Speaker 4: saying leave him and being like, no, he's a dead
- 33:11Speaker 4: beat man.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Rah rah.
- 33:12Speaker 4: Like I just I think that's a level of judgment
- 33:14Speaker 4: that we need to really reflect on, because at no
- 33:16Speaker 4: point in that listener question did they say that they
- 33:19Speaker 4: weren't contributing to the household and you know, paying their way.
- 33:22Speaker 4: At no point did they say that they're putting additional
- 33:24Speaker 4: financial pressure on the partner that had different financial goals. Like,
- 33:28Speaker 4: from my perspective, it's kind of cool to be in
- 33:30Speaker 4: a different situation than somebody else, and like I happen
- 33:34Speaker 4: to be in a relationship where my partner and I
- 33:36Speaker 4: are both really career focused, Like we are both exactly
- 33:40Speaker 4: on the same page. One of my best friends, her
- 33:43Speaker 4: entire life goal was to get to the point where
- 33:46Speaker 4: she was married and could have a baby and become
- 33:48Speaker 4: a state home mum. That was her job, that was exactly,
- 33:50Speaker 4: that was her goals, that was her career.
- 33:51Speaker 2: She's done it. I'm so stoked for her.
- 33:54Speaker 4: I have another friend who works part time and basically
- 33:57Speaker 4: she's like Beck, like just once to vibe. I love
- 34:00Speaker 4: that she's one of my favorite humans in the entire
- 34:03Speaker 4: world because she just knows herself so well. Those are
- 34:05Speaker 4: the people I want to surround myself with. Like a
- 34:07Speaker 4: career call. Your job doesn't define you. We've talked about
- 34:09Speaker 4: that before, and when it does, you're really boring, Like genuinely,
- 34:14Speaker 4: like if I went to parties and talked to people, well,
- 34:18Speaker 4: I work, you suck.
- 34:20Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, that's a very good point. Also, she didn't
- 34:24Speaker 5: mention if he treats so well, the kind.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Of funniest human in the entire world, what he's like.
- 34:31Speaker 5: Wants to be a stay at home partner.
- 34:33Speaker 2: What if he's just.
- 34:34Speaker 4: The nicest human and the most respectful person you've ever met.
- 34:38Speaker 2: He just vibes. Yeahstly that helps. Are we done here?
- 34:42Speaker 2: I think we are. I feel like I've ranted enough.
- 34:44Speaker 2: I told you I was in aroundy mood. I told
- 34:46Speaker 2: you I loved every second.
- 34:47Speaker 4: Thank you for letting me rant. Beck, we need to
- 34:50Speaker 4: take a leaf out of your book. Let's go lay
- 34:52Speaker 4: in the grass. Let's see you on Monday.
- 34:54Speaker 2: My loves have the best weekend ever. Bye ye bye.
