- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here, and in this episode of The Hypnotist you'll
- 0:45be listening to a hypnosis session designed to help
- 0:50someone. Cope with painful and.
- 0:54Heavy memories of the past and it was affecting their overall
- 0:59sense of well-being. It was affecting their.
- 1:01Speech, their ability to live their.
- 1:04Life and work in the career that they wanted to largely as a
- 1:09result of the impact of the. Past having an.
- 1:15Effect on their immediate present and therefore.
- 1:18Their ability to. Anticipate what the future would
- 1:22be like because most people. They map.
- 1:25Out whatever trajectory they're on into the future.
- 1:28And if that's a positive? Trajectory then they feel
- 1:31positive about the future, but if it isn't and it can lead to
- 1:35feelings of hopelessness or a gloomy kind of future and this
- 1:40client really wanted to be free of a lot of this overwhelm and
- 1:46stress and pressure. They witnessed a tragedy when
- 1:51they were very young, but they also had lots of other.
- 1:54Things that. Happened in their life that
- 1:56really took their toll. So you can hear an element of
- 2:00disassociation, can call it escapism, a metaphor of letting
- 2:05go of a lot of heavy emotions, a bit of in a child work of
- 2:10working with the part of them that witnessed a tragedy, but
- 2:15also accessing a resourceful time in their life where they
- 2:19could. Communicate very well.
- 2:21That they were capable, confident, optimistic and then
- 2:24future pacing. What it would be like to see
- 2:27that progress in their life that actually not everything has to
- 2:32happen straight away, but a future where.
- 2:35They're stressed less. Often that they feel more
- 2:38resourceful, that they can let go of the past will have an
- 2:42impact on what they anticipate the future would be like.
- 2:47Obviously, it was created for a client that had witnessed the
- 2:50tragedy. You may not have witnessed the
- 2:52tragedy and I would say this applies to this hypnosis.
- 2:56But all the other hypnosis sessions, because most of them
- 3:00are created for individual clients with individual
- 3:02circumstances. And that is, I would say, treat
- 3:06these hypnosis sessions like a big buffet of all these
- 3:10different types of food and pick the bits that you like, you
- 3:14enjoy, are relevant to you, and ignore the rest.
- 3:17So if you ever hear a suggestion that doesn't quite fit with you
- 3:20and your circumstances, just leave it.
- 3:23You know, you don't have to accept or take on board every
- 3:27suggestion. Take the ones that are useful
- 3:29and. Leave the rest.
- 3:31And if you like the idea of working with me directly so that
- 3:35you can have a bespoke session to you and your needs and your
- 3:38circumstances, click the link in the show notes and you'll be
- 3:41able to schedule that free consultation call so we can
- 3:43explore the idea of working together.
- 3:45For now, though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 3:48won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 4:10Take a deep breath in and as you breathe in, breathe in a slow,
- 4:21long, relaxing breath and as you exhale, just allow your eyelids
- 4:29to close. Dance in, and when you breathe
- 4:34in, just imagine breathing in a wonderful feeling of calm
- 4:43resourcefulness. Allow that feeling of calmness
- 4:50to seek out those parts of your body that are holding on to
- 4:58excessive tension, maybe your forehead or eyelids or jaw.
- 5:07As you breathe in that feeling of calmness, just imagine slowly
- 5:13but surely, they're melting that tension away.
- 5:22That's it. And feel that as you exhale, you
- 5:29can imagine seeing that tension leaving your body.
- 5:39If you're breathing in a bright colour of calmness, like a
- 5:45bright yellow or orange, imagine seeing dark greys, shadows, the
- 5:57heaviness of tension leaving your body.
- 6:03In that outward breath, just feel a wave of relaxation around
- 6:12your eyebrows, giving permission for any tension to just let go.
- 6:23Now, as you breathe out, feel that tension leaving your body
- 6:34before breathing in an even deeper breath of calmness and
- 6:43relaxation. Consider this an emotional
- 6:50transfusion, breathing in relaxation and exhaling tension.
- 7:07I want you to get a sense then, if your body is like a machine,
- 7:15all of that stress and tension would be like a robot with the
- 7:22wrong voltage. Too much energy going through
- 7:27the circuits means that certain things, certain movements or
- 7:33speech just wouldn't fire right? Or if it was a hydraulic
- 7:43mechanical machine, too much pressure in the hydraulics would
- 7:50lead to jilts and jolts, random movements not optimal to that
- 8:03hydraulic machine. But what if we were able to let
- 8:12go of any excess? Excess energy, excess pressure,
- 8:21excess stress, and all those heavy emotions?
- 8:29If we were to let them go, suddenly your ability to know
- 8:37what to say and how to say it, to move in the way that you
- 8:41would like to, becomes almost effortless again.
- 8:50What if you are a perfectly formed machine with too much
- 8:58pressure and stimulation? The goal is not to change the
- 9:03machine, just to reduce the pressure and the stimulation.
- 9:15So breathe in that wonderful feeling of calmness.
- 9:19Continue to exhale all those shadows of stress and tension,
- 9:25seeing them leave your body in that outward breath.
- 9:32And I want you to imagine an island that does not exist, an
- 9:40island that only exists in your imagination.
- 9:49A Paradise Island with sunshine and nature.
- 9:57Maybe you can see the sea, a beach, maybe you can imagine
- 10:04mountains and forests and a waterfall and just place
- 10:10yourself there on that island of relaxation.
- 10:20This is an island designed to let go of whatever is getting in
- 10:28the way. I want you to imagine they're on
- 10:34the beach is a pier, a wooden, picturesque pier that takes you
- 10:44out into the crystal clear waters.
- 10:50But I want you to imagine what it would be like to walk to the
- 10:56edge of that pier, looking back, seeing the Paradise Island,
- 11:03seeing the crystal clear water zone in front, seeing the water,
- 11:08but not being on the water. And I want you to imagine two
- 11:17empty suitcases, one in each hand.
- 11:24Feel the lightness of these suitcases because they're empty.
- 11:32And if you could imagine standing at the edge of a pier
- 11:37under sunshine and blue skies holding 2 empty suitcases, just
- 11:44let me know by nodding your head.
- 11:52That's it. And we're going to do something
- 11:56that your body has wanted you to do for a while, to let go of
- 12:01that emotional baggage you've been holding onto.
- 12:07So I want you to think, think of where you feel the emotion of
- 12:14sadness in your body. For some people, it's around
- 12:19their eyes. For some people, it's around
- 12:22their throats or a heaviness in the heart.
- 12:27And maybe for you, it's somewhere else.
- 12:31So I want you to scan your body for that sadness, and when you
- 12:39find it, let me know by nodding your head.
- 12:47And then just decide to move that feeling of sadness from
- 12:52your body into those empty suitcases.
- 12:58And as you do so, the suitcases get heavier and heavier because
- 13:07of the sadness that's in you is moving to those suitcases.
- 13:19Feel the sadness shift its location and feel your arms
- 13:26getting heavier and heavier as those suitcases get heavier and
- 13:31heavier. I want you to scan your body now
- 13:39for any feelings of guilt. Nobody's perfect.
- 13:48We've all made mistakes, and the purpose of guilt is not to
- 13:54punish you, It's to give you wisdom to change future
- 14:02decisions, to scan your body for where you feel that guilt.
- 14:11And guilt can feel very heavy indeed.
- 14:18And when you find it, start to move that feeling of guilt from
- 14:23you into the suitcases. Hold on to the wisdom, the
- 14:29hindsight. There is value in making
- 14:34mistakes, but the heaviness of the guilt.
- 14:39Move it all to the suitcases as those suitcases feel heavier and
- 14:48heavier. I want you to scan your body now
- 14:59for any feelings of anger. And let's include frustration, a
- 15:07mild form of anger when things aren't right, when things
- 15:17violate what you value the most. You could be angry at a person,
- 15:26an institution. You could be angry at yourself,
- 15:31angry at the world. Anger gives a feeling of
- 15:39certainty, but at a terrible cost.
- 15:45The cortisone, the adrenaline, can almost leave a body feeling
- 15:53depleted. To scan your body for that
- 15:58anger. For many people, they feel anger
- 16:05in the gut, in the jaw, around the temple, sometimes in the
- 16:11fists. Scan your body for where you
- 16:15feel that anger and when you find it, let me know about
- 16:19nodding your head and then move it.
- 16:26Just decide it will go into the suitcases, and it will, as those
- 16:33previously empty suitcases are now feeling heavy from the
- 16:37sadness, the guilt, the anger. They're feeling heavy now,
- 16:45really heavy. But the suitcases aren't full.
- 16:56I want you to scan your body now for any feelings of regret, and
- 17:04there are two main types of regret.
- 17:10The things we've done we wished we didn't, and the things we
- 17:15never did, we wished we did. And regret can be a heavy
- 17:24emotion. In the same way that anxiety is
- 17:32normally stored in the gut and stress sometimes around the
- 17:37temple or the jaw, regret can have a location in the body too.
- 17:48For some people, it's the chest, the solar plexus, sometimes
- 17:55somewhere in their head. But locate where regret feels
- 18:00like it's located for you. And as you scan your body for
- 18:09that regret, just shift it from you into the suitcases.
- 18:18As you feel those suitcases get heavier and heavier and heavier.
- 18:24As you realise throughout your life you've been accumulating
- 18:30emotional baggage. You've learned the lessons from
- 18:38your past, but you've been holding on to the weight of that
- 18:45emotional baggage like a pressure cooker.
- 18:51It's been building up and building up and building up, but
- 18:58not to make you any stronger any better.
- 19:01It's just been weighing you down like a circuit board with too
- 19:07much energy. Going through can lead to bugs
- 19:11and errors, things that don't work quite right.
- 19:18So just shift it all from you into the bags and then scan your
- 19:26body for any other clues. Any other clues of heavy
- 19:31emotions? Shift them from you to the bags.
- 19:40Feel the bags getting heavier and heavier.
- 19:46That might be stress, anxiety, worries, unfinished business,
- 19:55doubts and fears. Move it all to those heavy,
- 19:59heavy bags now. And when you feel there's no
- 20:05more space in the bags, let me know by nodding your head.
- 20:12That's it. But we're going to find a new
- 20:16level of strength. I want you to imagine hurling 1.
- 20:22Of the bags far into the ocean. And when you feel you've let go
- 20:32of that one bag, let me know about nodding your head and then
- 20:39hurl the second. And just imagine seeing those
- 20:46two suitcases sink to the bottom of the ocean, but feel a
- 20:59lightness in you that those heavy emotions you've let go of.
- 21:10You've retained the wisdom, the inside, the life lessons, but
- 21:14the heaviness of the emotions now feel a release, Feel that
- 21:23it's easier to breathe, easier to think.
- 21:29That's it. And then stare into the still
- 21:35ocean water as you recall a moment from your past that you
- 21:41felt confident, you felt unstoppable.
- 21:48You felt smart and capable. And maybe you can see a
- 21:53reflection of who you were back then.
- 21:57And as you stare into that reflection, feel like you're
- 22:00going back in time to see a version of you.
- 22:09Maybe you were working or studying.
- 22:11See a version of you confident and capable, and when you can
- 22:17see that version of you from your past, with all the
- 22:22qualities that you want to rekindle and reawaken within
- 22:26you, let me know by nodding your head.
- 22:34Maybe see yourself doing a talk or a speech, communicating
- 22:41confidently. See, a version of you with the
- 22:43words came without needing to force them.
- 22:52See a time in your past where the words came intuitively, the
- 22:59right words came exactly when you needed them.
- 23:04And see that version of you, that younger version of you
- 23:09confidently communicating when you can see that version of you.
- 23:14Let me know about nodding your head.
- 23:20Step into that memory. Feel like you felt back then.
- 23:28Notice you hadn't accumulated so much weight and heaviness.
- 23:32Then you can feel light and free.
- 23:35Feel there's just the right amount of pressure, the right
- 23:41amount of stimulation and power going through your circuits that
- 23:47when you want to communicate, you can.
- 23:53Feel that you can manage your responsibilities.
- 24:00Feel that you're reawakening those neural pathways of the
- 24:04past as you feel how it would feel to say what you want to say
- 24:12and the words just come. And then imagine being an
- 24:22observer and hearing you speak the words just come to you.
- 24:30You are awakening those numeral pathways.
- 24:35The heaviness and the pressure is being let go, and the
- 24:42confident, capable version of you is being awakened.
- 24:55And I want you to imagine what it would be like with all of
- 25:00your knowledge to go back in time to a moment.
- 25:09I want you to think back to a specific building where a
- 25:14tragedy happened. Go back at your current age with
- 25:19your current experience, and I want you to go back moments
- 25:30after a significant event happened.
- 25:39I want you to go back and comfort that younger version of
- 25:44you. Maybe they were filled with
- 25:49sadness, doubt, guilt, confusion.
- 25:59Go back as you are to that younger version of you and sit
- 26:03with them and listen. Tell them that they're not to
- 26:08blame. Tell them that it's OK to feel
- 26:16sad. Give them whatever they need, a
- 26:23hug, reassurance. Maybe they need to know things
- 26:30are going to be OK. Tell them that whatever you
- 26:34would have wanted to have heard when you were that age at that
- 26:38time, hear it from your future self.
- 26:44Hear it confidently, clearly hear the words you needed to
- 26:51hear, and then place yourself from the perspective of that
- 27:02younger version of you hearing those words and giving a
- 27:08powerful, positive meaning to a horrible tragedy.
- 27:16Maybe it's that you're destined to do great things.
- 27:22Maybe it's that you can honour a memory whenever you feel happy,
- 27:29calm whenever you activate that calming presence in you.
- 27:37You're honouring a legacy, whether you needed to hear, hear
- 27:44it, feel it. The meaning you give is that
- 27:51sometimes life isn't fair. Bad things happen, but you are
- 27:54strong enough and resilient enough to cope.
- 28:00Some people feel they have to be sad to show that they love
- 28:03someone, but sometimes the best way of showing you love someone
- 28:10is to live a life that would make that person proud.
- 28:19Go back to that Pierce, see the reflection of you looking at
- 28:23you, and start to imagine your future now the way you would
- 28:30want it to be. What would it be tomorrow if
- 28:37things improved by just 1% with 1% less stress, 1% more
- 28:47happiness, 1% more confidence, more belief, more optimism, 1%
- 29:00being more relaxed and articulate?
- 29:08The way to magical transformations is tiny
- 29:13incremental progress consistently.
- 29:20If you can imagine tomorrow being 1% better, then it means
- 29:26it could get 1% better the day after 2.
- 29:31And not every day has to be an improvement.
- 29:35Sometimes you need to take one step back to take two steps
- 29:40forward. But start to imagine a future a
- 29:46year from now with all of those tiny improvements, compounding,
- 29:54building on top of each other. See a future when you see more
- 29:59relaxed, more calm, more present, less sadness and more
- 30:09joy, less heaviness and more energy and vitality, less stress
- 30:20and tension and more calmness and mindfulness.
- 30:28And then step into that future. Feel how it would be a year from
- 30:31now if things were moving in the right direction and feel that is
- 30:39a seed being planted in your mind that will bear fruit in
- 30:44your future. But it's time to return to the
- 30:51present, allowing your mind to create a ripple effect where
- 30:58small changes create bigger changes create noticeable
- 31:04changes. So find yourself back out on
- 31:08that pier, but as you walk back to the beach in the island, feel
- 31:11a lightness in you, all those heavy emotions.
- 31:17Were at the. Bottom of the ocean.
- 31:19Feel a freeness, a lightness, and as you get back to the
- 31:24island you realize it's time to return to the present, taking
- 31:32some wonderful emotions with you, The main one being hope.
- 31:41Hope is just the belief that things will improve and there is
- 31:46magic in that hope. So take a deep breath in through
- 31:53your nose and out through your nose.
- 31:59Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes start to
- 32:02connect into the here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to
- 32:0810:00 to awaken you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 32:16456 more alert 7-8 open your eyes.
- 32:21Open your eyes 910 Wide awake, Wide awake.
- 32:27Wide awake. Thank you for listening to The
