- 0:20Speaker 1: Hey tolerators, listens to all the men I've tolerated before
- 0:23Speaker 1: with Naaniley Katona, your weekly look at everyday misogyny. Today
- 0:27Speaker 1: is a great day. Today Darcy is back on the podcast.
- 0:31Speaker 1: You will recognize Darcy from our episodes on Wrestling, Final
- 0:35Speaker 1: Girls and that Tortured Poets Department episode that was so
- 0:39Speaker 1: long we broke it up twice. Today, Darcy and I
- 0:44Speaker 1: felt it was finally the right time to talk about
- 0:47Speaker 1: our one true love, our one true passion, and that
- 0:50Speaker 1: is Kasha.
- 0:52Speaker 2: The amazing phenomenal Kasha.
- 0:56Speaker 1: When people find out, like when a new person and
- 1:00Speaker 1: like a boss or like a new mentor or whatever,
- 1:04Speaker 1: finds out that you're a Kesha fan, how do they react.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I don't know that I've really had many instances where
- 1:15Speaker 2: I's like what I think also that has to do
- 1:18Speaker 2: with my eclectic things I like, so that might be
- 1:22Speaker 2: like it might not be that like surprising, or I
- 1:26Speaker 2: haven't really A lot of my supervisors have been a
- 1:28Speaker 2: little bit eager too, so I feel like the kind
- 1:31Speaker 2: of don't see necessarily anything, but have you had an experience,
- 1:34Speaker 2: Oh my god?
- 1:35Speaker 1: Every time, And it's probably because of my insanity where
- 1:40Speaker 1: it's like I can't just say, oh, I really love
- 1:42Speaker 1: Ksha's Rainbow album. I literally have to be like, Kesha's
- 1:46Speaker 1: one of my greatest inspirations. I think about her every day.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I always wish her well, and I want whoever helped
- 1:57Speaker 1: her in the way that they helped her to the
- 2:00Speaker 1: person that she is today to get a hold of
- 2:03Speaker 1: Amanda buying some Britney spears like to me, to me
- 2:08Speaker 1: at this point in January twenty twenty six, Kshaw's a
- 2:14Speaker 1: big success story.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, especially after her gag Order album in twenty
- 2:23Speaker 2: twenty three, which which honestly is my favorite album from hers.
- 2:28Speaker 2: She changed the name of it, which kind of is like,
- 2:30Speaker 2: I'm like, oh my god, did she hate this album?
- 2:33Speaker 2: But I think it's probably one of those just like
- 2:35Speaker 2: rough albums because I don't know that I really fully
- 2:43Speaker 2: understood that after Rainbow, like so Rainbow happened, and I
- 2:48Speaker 2: think she did High Road. I didn't like. I listened
- 2:52Speaker 2: to High Road, but there was like a few songs
- 2:54Speaker 2: that I really like vibed with, and then something about
- 2:57Speaker 2: gag Order. I mean, I'm really really depressed my mind
- 3:00Speaker 2: nerd just calling a bar so I like, like I
- 3:05Speaker 2: was so obsessed with that fucking album well.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And gag ordered happened? Would you say? Twenty twenty three?
- 3:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was the biggest flop, was it? Isn't
- 3:17Speaker 2: that sad?
- 3:18Speaker 1: Oh my god? It was so good at the Tits
- 3:20Speaker 1: Out tour.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Well yeah, and then she kind of came back
- 3:24Speaker 2: with the AK and I think, unfortunately, her biggest market
- 3:31Speaker 2: is like the party songs. I like the songs that
- 3:34Speaker 2: make me want to like dump up a great because
- 3:36Speaker 2: they're the best thing, you know.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And I was gonna say that twenty twenty three, it
- 3:39Speaker 1: had to be twenty twenty four that Tortured Poets Department
- 3:43Speaker 1: came out, because you were still very much in the
- 3:45Speaker 1: midst of the divorce. When Tortured Poet's Department came out,
- 3:49Speaker 1: people are less surprised that I'm a Taylor Swift fan,
- 3:53Speaker 1: even though I have gone on record to say that
- 3:55Speaker 1: we're fighting. Her and I are enough fight.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I feel like I left called a little bit and
- 4:01Speaker 2: I'm finding a way to like enjoy her music separate
- 4:04Speaker 2: than like her as a person.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yeah, but like you said, like Torture Poets.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Oh my god, it just rips my heart out and
- 4:12Speaker 1: stomps on it.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I mean the two as a gag order and George
- 4:16Speaker 2: with poets kind of like if you put those too together.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Man, But I think I think because of like the
- 4:22Speaker 1: party girl persona that Kasha began with, which, by the way,
- 4:28Speaker 1: bumped and grind and wore basement glitter to the right,
- 4:34Speaker 1: like I was throwing it back at Hooligan's to TikTok,
- 4:37Speaker 1: don't stop.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I think there's twenty one, like when the songs are
- 4:40Speaker 2: coming out, so like those are like the bar anthems
- 4:43Speaker 2: like you always played Me and my Friend. So it's
- 4:46Speaker 2: kind of funny if do you kind of like I
- 4:48Speaker 2: kind of really grew up with Ksha.
- 4:50Speaker 1: And way yes, And so when I tell people that
- 4:56Speaker 1: I'm like a huge Kasha fan and like literally like
- 5:00Speaker 1: have horrific knowledge, Like the amount of knowledge that I
- 5:04Speaker 1: have about Kesha is ridiculous, and people are like, really
- 5:08Speaker 1: because no one takes her seriously, and no one unless
- 5:13Speaker 1: you were really a Kasha fan, knew what she was
- 5:16Speaker 1: doing after the doctor Luke allegations of the lawsuits and
- 5:19Speaker 1: all of it. So people just think of her as
- 5:22Speaker 1: party girl music. And you know, at thirty seven, I'm
- 5:25Speaker 1: quite not the party girl anymore. So like they don't
- 5:28Speaker 1: take me seriously when I'm like, I love Kasha because
- 5:32Speaker 1: they don't want to take her seriously.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Right when like her music evolved but so much, I
- 5:40Speaker 2: do think like Yippy Kaye, she kind of this is
- 5:42Speaker 2: the album.
- 5:45Speaker 1: No Yippi Kaya was just a single single. The latest
- 5:52Speaker 1: album is just called a Pink Dot.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yes, okay, okay, I was a creatite what but I
- 6:00Speaker 2: do I think she kind of like tapped more into
- 6:04Speaker 2: into that. And I think that's why I tore was
- 6:05Speaker 2: so successful. And I think people like me and I
- 6:10Speaker 2: think it's both of these conversations. When he saw her,
- 6:15Speaker 2: you know, really saw her evolved into like it's like,
- 6:20Speaker 2: so I see her four times. All were posts like
- 6:27Speaker 2: the doger loop stuff Like the first time I started.
- 6:30Speaker 2: They do s thing here called kiss Mustache. It's like
- 6:34Speaker 2: the kiss any pro favorite yo. It's it's not like
- 6:36Speaker 2: it's like a kid like not a kid thing, but
- 6:38Speaker 2: like teenagers go and like I had never gone all
- 6:42Speaker 2: my life. Never they do kisses on the hello and
- 6:44Speaker 2: kiss the spash. I don't even know if they still
- 6:45Speaker 2: do them, but they did the years ago, and I
- 6:48Speaker 2: had never gone. And then me and like two of
- 6:50Speaker 2: my girlfriends saw that she was coming, you know, going
- 6:54Speaker 2: to be headlining it. It sucked though she did like
- 6:56Speaker 2: six songs because it was like such like a It's
- 6:59Speaker 2: like they put so many artists on and it was
- 7:03Speaker 2: she played woman, but they leaped out like fucking the hall.
- 7:10Speaker 1: What the whole whole playerless song?
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think I wasn't the cause I started
- 7:16Speaker 2: with Matt.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Moore, m hyeah the Rainbow Tour.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I went, oh, oh, my god, duh, And then I
- 7:21Speaker 2: saw her after so Rainbow Rainbow. Yes, I did see
- 7:26Speaker 2: very intimate setting at the History in Toronto.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Right. I'm mad that I didn't go to gag order
- 7:31Speaker 1: because she was right over the bridge in Newport and
- 7:34Speaker 1: I just like kept not getting tickets and then it
- 7:37Speaker 1: was too late.
- 7:39Speaker 2: It was I don't even remember how it all came about.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I was like, honestly, twenty twenty three. A lot of
- 7:46Speaker 2: that year is almost like blacked out, like I don't
- 7:50Speaker 2: rest like traumatic. I don't remember a lot of it.
- 7:53Speaker 2: But I remember like two of my girlfriends took my
- 7:56Speaker 2: friend Ashley and my family. It took me. My friend
- 7:58Speaker 2: Rina was supposed to go, and then something up been
- 8:00Speaker 2: with her passports. She couldn't get or her like herm
- 8:04Speaker 2: Enhance Liss. She couldn't go because it was in Toronto,
- 8:07Speaker 2: so my friend Emily went and oh my god, I
- 8:10Speaker 2: just that time. I like, well yeah, several times, but
- 8:16Speaker 2: especially during Happy and I did it again, can I?
- 8:21Speaker 1: So I do want to talk about the Doctor Luke stuff, Yeah,
- 8:25Speaker 1: because I do believe that it was during the Doctor
- 8:28Speaker 1: Luke coverage that I went from a casual girl who
- 8:32Speaker 1: likes to throw it back to TikTok to like literally
- 8:36Speaker 1: a monster who would chew people out on the street
- 8:39Speaker 1: if they were just like, well, Kesha's a hot mess.
- 8:42Speaker 1: What do we expect?
- 8:44Speaker 2: Like do you identify as like one prank? Because she
- 8:48Speaker 2: released Prying.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Yes, yes, And remember she played it at either the
- 8:52Speaker 1: American Billboard Music Awards or the Grammys or something, and
- 8:58Speaker 1: Cindy Laupner was up there and they were all dressed
- 9:00Speaker 1: in white, and like I watched that like monthly.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Oh my god, I feel like I had to have
- 9:06Speaker 2: watched it.
- 9:08Speaker 3: I do.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I remember, though, I was. I remember when I watched
- 9:13Speaker 2: that music video for the first time, because I think
- 9:15Speaker 2: before Rainbow, we didn't really have we didn't have anything
- 9:20Speaker 2: right for a while, like after like warrior.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Well, and this is why do you know how long
- 9:26Speaker 1: ago the lawsuit was her side of the lawsuit was
- 9:30Speaker 1: even filed when October of twenty fourteen, I have an
- 9:36Speaker 1: entire timeline in front of me.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Yeah, that's when she had Did you watch her show?
- 9:40Speaker 2: Did you have the show? No? What?
- 9:42Speaker 1: Oh? Did she have a TV show?
- 9:43Speaker 3: Like?
- 9:43Speaker 2: It was a really short scent, and it had to
- 9:46Speaker 2: be because I was just gonna say, she's the reason
- 9:49Speaker 2: the reason I had become a vegetarian. The first time
- 9:52Speaker 2: I was watching her show and I was like, she's
- 9:54Speaker 2: just the fucking cutest and that's why I think. Really
- 9:57Speaker 2: it had to be only maybe six episode. Like I
- 10:00Speaker 2: don't even know if people it was MTV Beats one
- 10:03Speaker 2: or something and they really just like it was like
- 10:06Speaker 2: her life in Alaska, and it was she was really
- 10:10Speaker 2: like me. But like that's when I really like clocked,
- 10:13Speaker 2: like this bitch is fucking smart and very talented. Obviously
- 10:19Speaker 2: it always liked for music, but like I was like,
- 10:23Speaker 2: there's a lot more than this auto tune like technoe
- 10:29Speaker 2: like all this like not technically, but you know what
- 10:31Speaker 2: I mean, like dance music. It's not like there's a
- 10:34Speaker 2: lot more to her than we obviously got to see
- 10:37Speaker 2: as things around. But tell me more about the woof Okay.
- 10:40Speaker 1: So this is your trigger warning that we will be
- 10:42Speaker 1: talking about Ksha's sexual assault claims against doctor Luke and
- 10:48Speaker 1: how horrific it all ended up being for Kasha. So
- 10:55Speaker 1: Kasha Susan in October of twenty fourteen about uh for
- 11:00Speaker 1: sexual assault and battery, among other claims. One of them
- 11:04Speaker 1: is that for her entire career, he was self prescribing
- 11:11Speaker 1: her medicine that she didn't want to take and she
- 11:13Speaker 1: was calling them like sober pills. And this is where
- 11:16Speaker 1: like when people want to get heated with me about
- 11:19Speaker 1: like Kesha, like I've literally chewed people out before, one
- 11:22Speaker 1: of them being my boss, Like he saw my Kasha
- 11:25Speaker 1: poster and he was like, who the hell is a
- 11:27Speaker 1: Kesha fan? And I was like me, I pray to her.
- 11:30Speaker 1: She's a goddess in my eyes. Do you want to
- 11:34Speaker 1: get into it? Well, he had worked at a different
- 11:38Speaker 1: like concert venue and had her as one of his
- 11:41Speaker 1: talents one night and she was strung out, and he
- 11:46Speaker 1: said that the meet and greet took twice as long
- 11:49Speaker 1: as it should have because she got distracted by like
- 11:53Speaker 1: it was like a venue that was like attached to
- 11:55Speaker 1: a college, and their mascout was the bulldog, and they
- 11:58Speaker 1: brought them like a real bulldog out and she fell
- 12:01Speaker 1: in love with the bulldog and only want to talk
- 12:03Speaker 1: to the bulldog. And I get that that, Like, if
- 12:05Speaker 1: you're the person who's who has to make sure that
- 12:08Speaker 1: everyone's going home and not getting over time or whatever,
- 12:11Speaker 1: so annoying. However, if you're a Nadley and you're insane,
- 12:15Speaker 1: I'm now yelling at you because I'm like, God knows
- 12:18Speaker 1: what she was let her. God knows what she was on.
- 12:21Speaker 1: God knows if she had chosen to be on it.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I go, it was probably in the midst of her
- 12:28Speaker 1: suing or being sued or abused. I go, and like,
- 12:34Speaker 1: you have also watched me fall to the ground because
- 12:37Speaker 1: we've had dogs in our venues and I've had to
- 12:39Speaker 1: stop my entire workday. Yeah you have. Your wife has
- 12:44Speaker 1: come upon me laying on the floor with foster dogs
- 12:48Speaker 1: because they're in our theater, like.
- 12:51Speaker 2: And honestly, I was like needing her or any like
- 12:56Speaker 2: celebrity artists whatever, and they had their attention drawn to
- 13:02Speaker 2: like an animal. I'm like, oh, he's relatable, Like yeah,
- 13:08Speaker 2: I understand because that's and I.
- 13:13Speaker 1: And I did like I did, like walk him through
- 13:15Speaker 1: like all of it. And by the end of it,
- 13:19Speaker 1: he was like, you know what, Nambley, I am going
- 13:22Speaker 1: to rethink that story over and I'm gonna change my
- 13:25Speaker 1: tune on Kesha. And you know what, he stopped by
- 13:28Speaker 1: every time I had one of her albums on while
- 13:30Speaker 1: I was walking working, he'd tap on the poster on
- 13:34Speaker 1: his way out of my little cubicle like he did.
- 13:37Speaker 1: He did, And I was like, Okay, I like that.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I know a man in pressing Namby in twenty twenty six.
- 13:46Speaker 1: That's fucking crazy. But so she was being abused by
- 13:50Speaker 1: doctor Luke. Her entire career is what comes out, and
- 13:55Speaker 1: then all of her money and her resources are tied
- 13:59Speaker 1: in to her contract with doctor Luke, who she's suing,
- 14:03Speaker 1: and she can't get any of the rights to her music.
- 14:07Speaker 1: And I think that, like it's a bigger discussion that
- 14:09Speaker 1: I don't know if I'm knowledgeable enough to talk about,
- 14:14Speaker 1: like the abusive way that we treat music artists in general,
- 14:18Speaker 1: when it comes to the ways that they're allowed to
- 14:21Speaker 1: track and make money off of the music that they create.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Because it's horrific, and it's I mean, honestly, it's something
- 14:32Speaker 1: that my girl, who I'm in a fight with, Taylor Swift,
- 14:35Speaker 1: talks about all the time. And we are living in
- 14:37Speaker 1: an age now where she finally owns all of her masters,
- 14:41Speaker 1: and that was the goal of the Airs tour, and
- 14:43Speaker 1: we found out during the Tits Out tour that Ksha
- 14:47Speaker 1: is now re recording all of her old songs so
- 14:50Speaker 1: she owns the new masters, which is what Taylor did
- 14:54Speaker 1: with Taylor's version.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I don't think just talking about it, yeah, because I remember,
- 15:01Speaker 2: like you said, she's so happy. It's like he was
- 15:05Speaker 2: like finally released. I didn't realize like that chunk of
- 15:11Speaker 2: time that like she was kind of still tied to.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Him and making him money. What was that making him
- 15:19Speaker 1: money while he's not booking her for shows or getting
- 15:22Speaker 1: her opportunities or whatever, because then she could afford lawyers
- 15:25Speaker 1: or whatever. I don't even know if it's an urban
- 15:28Speaker 1: legend or something that I made up, but I know that,
- 15:30Speaker 1: like Lady Gaga walked in on something weird between her
- 15:36Speaker 1: and doctor Luke and she testified on Cash's behalf, and
- 15:39Speaker 1: I know that Taylor paid for part of her legal team.
- 15:42Speaker 2: When did it close?
- 15:44Speaker 1: When did she jus? Like there's like is there like
- 15:49Speaker 1: the you know, well, yeah, it's a back and forth
- 15:53Speaker 1: because she sues him for abuse, he countersues for slander basically,
- 15:58Speaker 1: which ties it all up, which which honestly we've kind
- 16:04Speaker 1: of we haven't really gone through something similar, but like
- 16:07Speaker 1: I saw the Blake Lively justin Baloney thing going down
- 16:11Speaker 1: the same path as this one, and that's why I
- 16:13Speaker 1: was so pissed because it's like I have to side
- 16:16Speaker 1: with Blake Lively, right, because we've lived this before. In
- 16:23Speaker 1: January twenty nineteen. Now I'm reading through the title, like
- 16:26Speaker 1: I do have a article evidence that Lady Gaga does
- 16:30Speaker 1: defend Kesha in court in a deposition. February twenty twenty,
- 16:35Speaker 1: she releases high Road. So Rainbow and high Road were
- 16:38Speaker 1: released while she's all wrapped.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Up in this, which is interesting because like Rainbow has rainbows,
- 16:46Speaker 2: like I love Rainbow. I love Rainbow. I didn't have
- 16:50Speaker 2: like an iPod yet, and I listened to the CD
- 16:52Speaker 2: like on repeat. My mom listen to every Day a
- 16:55Speaker 2: Marina College and I would. It's it's so like the
- 17:01Speaker 2: song rat though, but like it's just interesting because the
- 17:06Speaker 2: Rainbow album is very like empowering, and that's a song
- 17:11Speaker 2: that's praying at it. Yes, yes, I remember the first
- 17:14Speaker 2: time I heard praying. He was in the car. My
- 17:19Speaker 2: ass was going to Starbucks. I didn't drink Starabox at
- 17:23Speaker 2: the time, so and we had pulled up the music
- 17:25Speaker 2: addicted to it. I think you quit drinking definitely, No,
- 17:29Speaker 2: I think because you got having been too Starbucks. And yeah,
- 17:32Speaker 2: I was like I'm not going in because cause just
- 17:35Speaker 2: I just saw the music video. So it was like,
- 17:39Speaker 2: you can leave. Yeah, I was like, you can leave.
- 17:43Speaker 2: And I sat there and I literally bowled my eyes. Now,
- 17:47Speaker 2: the first time I heard it, it's just so powerful,
- 17:51Speaker 2: So I think, I guess I'm getting I was like
- 17:53Speaker 2: kind of surprising that that's still And I think maybe
- 17:56Speaker 2: to like the casual person is like maybe thinking that
- 17:59Speaker 2: it might be over. But out of that.
- 18:02Speaker 1: And so doctor Luke, when High Road and Rainbow are
- 18:06Speaker 1: being produced or whatever no longer works for whatever music company. Yeah,
- 18:12Speaker 1: we're getting in the weeds with it. But it's February
- 18:14Speaker 1: twenty twenty when the judge kind of rules not in
- 18:18Speaker 1: not in like Doctor Luke's fate favor. But it's like
- 18:22Speaker 1: there's no winner to this. We can't actually prove anything,
- 18:25Speaker 1: and it's because Lady Gaga in her deposition said something
- 18:30Speaker 1: along the line so that Katy Perry had also kind
- 18:33Speaker 1: of confided in Lady Gaga that doctor Luke had maybe
- 18:36Speaker 1: done something unsavory towards her, and Katy Perry wouldn't testify
- 18:41Speaker 1: against him.
- 18:43Speaker 2: She bound to make more music with him, and now.
- 18:45Speaker 1: She's still making more music with him, which is why
- 18:48Speaker 1: more like alarming, which is why you will catch me
- 18:51Speaker 1: removing Katy Perry from all of my playlists because it
- 18:56Speaker 1: twenty twenty six. Family cannot fuck with people who fuck
- 19:00Speaker 1: with known abusive men, like if your friend took him
- 19:04Speaker 1: to court. If Lady Gaga says she saw it like
- 19:08Speaker 1: if this, that and the other, like uh huh, nadly
- 19:12Speaker 1: does not want to fuck with Katy Perry, then she's
- 19:15Speaker 1: well and like came, Harry's kind of tacky at this point,
- 19:18Speaker 1: and I don't.
- 19:19Speaker 2: She's kind of like lost her mind.
- 19:20Speaker 1: She's lost her mind, So good luck Justin Trudeau. I
- 19:24Speaker 1: guess who's also I think someone who has lost his mind. Yeah, yeah,
- 19:29Speaker 1: So it's basically February twenty twenty. In March twenty twenty,
- 19:34Speaker 1: like she tried to file an appeal to the ruling
- 19:37Speaker 1: that didn't like to seek a reversal of the ruling,
- 19:42Speaker 1: but it hasn't gone anywhere. But and I think, like
- 19:46Speaker 1: this is there's a statement to be made about how
- 19:50Speaker 1: like exhausting it is to seek out justice while also
- 19:58Speaker 1: like living your everyday life. And also like if it's
- 20:05Speaker 1: twenty twenty and you're still like filing appeals or whatever,
- 20:09Speaker 1: and you can't move on because you know it happened
- 20:13Speaker 1: and you and like, and I also think, like, you know,
- 20:16Speaker 1: the capricorn in me would be like, and I fucking
- 20:18Speaker 1: missed out on money and opportunities. No one takes my
- 20:22Speaker 1: career seriously. I literally lost friends during the Kasha Trials. Yes,
- 20:28Speaker 1: I was in a car and another and we were
- 20:34Speaker 1: on a like two hour road trip or whatever, and
- 20:38Speaker 1: someone brought up, probably me, the Kasha Trials or whatever,
- 20:41Speaker 1: because they were on TV and the radio. They were
- 20:43Speaker 1: all over And my former friend at the time was like, well,
- 20:50Speaker 1: she's like a slut who makes trash music, Like what
- 20:55Speaker 1: credibility does she have to eat that we even believe her?
- 20:59Speaker 1: And I was like, Number one, my default is to
- 21:01Speaker 1: believe women, And then a man sitting next to me
- 21:06Speaker 1: kept egging on my friend, who was just like, she's
- 21:09Speaker 1: a slut, she's a high school dropout. Where was her mom?
- 21:13Speaker 1: Like there were all of these ways that this could
- 21:16Speaker 1: have been avoided, this, that, and the other. She probably
- 21:19Speaker 1: slept her way to the top, you know, all of
- 21:21Speaker 1: the gross things that we say about women in any
- 21:24Speaker 1: industry who seek out justice for themselves. And I'm just
- 21:29Speaker 1: like getting incense and like and I think that's when
- 21:33Speaker 1: it hit me that, like the way that we market
- 21:37Speaker 1: young women in the pop industry is so purposeful in
- 21:43Speaker 1: the way that we do strip all credibility off of them.
- 21:47Speaker 1: And we saw it with the Britney Spears trials and
- 21:50Speaker 1: all of it.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Scood. I mean, it's it's sick to watch, Like I
- 21:54Speaker 2: feel like Britney Spears was like, I mean, I'm sure
- 21:58Speaker 2: there's other scenarios do but like the worst case, like
- 22:02Speaker 2: we like it was when we could all watch it
- 22:05Speaker 2: unfold in front of us. I mean, we're old enough
- 22:07Speaker 2: that we saw it. I mean, I know something like
- 22:08Speaker 2: the people like don't really get like that. I don't
- 22:14Speaker 2: get her popularity like that, And I'm like, oh god, no,
- 22:17Speaker 2: it's hogriffic.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Julie and I talked about it during the Linda episode
- 22:21Speaker 1: because we were just talking about like women who believe
- 22:23Speaker 1: propaganda about other women, and I was like, I can't
- 22:27Speaker 1: even talk because we were the generation that fell for
- 22:31Speaker 1: all the propaganda against Britney Spears. And I can probably
- 22:35Speaker 1: paint by memory the photo and all the magazines of
- 22:40Speaker 1: her bald and smashing the windshield with the bad.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Yep yep, and like the one with her like shaving
- 22:47Speaker 2: shaving her head, and like it's it's it's fucked up that.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I mean, I think everybody knows that was there, Like
- 22:55Speaker 2: we're like paying attention now, like that that really was
- 23:00Speaker 2: just everybody was watching her like she's a fucking circus animal.
- 23:05Speaker 1: So then like so then now I'm in my conspiracy
- 23:08Speaker 1: theory rabbit hole where I'm like, they sexualize these women
- 23:11Speaker 1: when they're nineteen years old, They turn them into club
- 23:16Speaker 1: party girl sluts so that they can continue to abuse
- 23:19Speaker 1: them and continue to not pay them and continue to
- 23:22Speaker 1: not treat them like artists. And then when they do
- 23:25Speaker 1: speak out about the shit that happens to them when
- 23:28Speaker 1: they're sitting in offices with men, we don't believe them
- 23:31Speaker 1: because they're just a party girl who's drunk all the time.
- 23:34Speaker 2: That reminds me of I read I like remember reading
- 23:38Speaker 2: this like ten years ago, and it crosses my mind
- 23:40Speaker 2: like occasionally, honestly about more than occasionally, but that famous
- 23:47Speaker 2: people like especially if like a honestly might apply more
- 23:51Speaker 2: to child stars and like as far and then women
- 23:57Speaker 2: like female celebrities that they are the a They stay
- 24:02Speaker 2: the age that they were when they got famous, which
- 24:04Speaker 2: makes the same sense. It goes along with what you're
- 24:08Speaker 2: saying to basically traumatizing them into like.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Not throwing there's a term for it, and I'm gonna
- 24:16Speaker 1: throw out the term emotionally arrested. Oh my god, Yeah,
- 24:20Speaker 1: I think that's the term for it.
- 24:22Speaker 2: I have never heard that, but that it's like I
- 24:24Speaker 2: think the perfect Yeah, their.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Mature they basically their maturity level stays at whatever the
- 24:30Speaker 1: peak of their fame was or the most trauma traumatizing
- 24:33Speaker 1: part of their career. And again, and I cannot stress
- 24:39Speaker 1: that enough, like Mandy Moore, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson whose
- 24:46Speaker 1: father is a whole other episode. Honestly, probably Taylor Swift,
- 24:51Speaker 1: they didn't truly do anything smarter or different in the
- 24:56Speaker 1: music industry. They were just lucky. They either had like
- 25:00Speaker 1: a mom like Andrea who was on top of it,
- 25:04Speaker 1: they had well and and then like that's not even
- 25:07Speaker 1: giving credit to Kesha's mom. Kesha comes from a musically
- 25:11Speaker 1: inclined family. Her mom's written songs with Dolly Parton. Dolly
- 25:15Speaker 1: Parton is her godmother. Dolly Parton is also the godmother
- 25:20Speaker 1: of Miley Cyrus. And we know that Miley Cyrus has
- 25:23Speaker 1: been through the ringer too, and it's like, there aren't
- 25:28Speaker 1: I'm just saying that, like the system has to be
- 25:30Speaker 1: so bad in the music industry if not even like
- 25:34Speaker 1: being closely aligned to Dolly Parton can save you.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what it's saying like that, I'm saying
- 25:41Speaker 2: I am like full blown in this, like anybody in Hollywood,
- 25:48Speaker 2: any man, especially in Hollywood and man in reality TV.
- 25:54Speaker 4: I just feel like, and I know there's I know
- 25:59Speaker 4: those like definitely maybe some maybe Pascal not.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Pascal. Who's the other one?
- 26:07Speaker 1: Mark Ruffalo, Mark Ruffalo my daddy. Yeah, Dave Batista who
- 26:13Speaker 1: was raised by two moms and loves pitbulls. Okay, ally
- 26:17Speaker 1: we can put the Doctor Luke stuff outside, because I think,
- 26:21Speaker 1: like the point of it is is just that like
- 26:23Speaker 1: it's so ingrained in the industry that women are just
- 26:26Speaker 1: being abused and like, and I also know that like
- 26:30Speaker 1: right after in Sync was no longer in Sync, we
- 26:33Speaker 1: got that documentary about like how that guy was also
- 26:36Speaker 1: ruining all of the boy bands and whatever and abusing them.
- 26:39Speaker 1: We're not talking about them today, We're talking about women.
- 26:42Speaker 2: In her reviews.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and heal from it because the thing
- 26:48Speaker 1: about the Rainbow album, and this is how I know
- 26:51Speaker 1: she's a genius and I do believe that she is
- 26:55Speaker 1: a genius, and like, you know, Lady Gaga is also
- 26:58Speaker 1: like has I cue genius levels, and I think Kasha
- 27:02Speaker 1: has a genius.
- 27:04Speaker 2: I thought she was like very I mean, did you
- 27:09Speaker 2: did you do school.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Kasha or Lady Gagaka? That's what my hateful friend said
- 27:16Speaker 1: that I've been dumped.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Yeah, because I mean, I don't know. I could be wrong,
- 27:20Speaker 2: but I thought that she was like yeah, pretty pretty smart.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Right, but anyway, like like who knows, who knows women
- 27:29Speaker 1: aren't taken seriously? So anyways, that Godzilla song is about
- 27:36Speaker 1: like how do you live as a woman who knows
- 27:39Speaker 1: that they have an abusive partner, but you have to
- 27:42Speaker 1: bring that abusive partner to every family holiday in Gabe
- 27:45Speaker 1: night And it's like a funny song, like you giggle
- 27:49Speaker 1: when you're singing it, but like I remember listening to
- 27:52Speaker 1: it the first time and I was like shit, and
- 27:55Speaker 1: I I was going through a breakup when the Rainbow
- 27:58Speaker 1: album came out, so I cried to it a lot.
- 28:01Speaker 1: My My actual favorite song on Rainbow is him. This
- 28:06Speaker 1: is a hymn for the hymn list gets with no religion,
- 28:11Speaker 1: and she's never performed it live and I'm like, but Gosha, please,
- 28:17Speaker 1: I'm surprised. I know me too. I'm surprised because it's
- 28:21Speaker 1: a banger.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it really is, Like.
- 28:26Speaker 1: It's it's represents, you know, the outcast and how we
- 28:32Speaker 1: kind of all just abandoned her to fame and all
- 28:36Speaker 1: that comes with that. And and I think that that
- 28:39Speaker 1: happens a lot to women in the entertainment and the
- 28:42Speaker 1: music industry, that like it's a you get what you
- 28:46Speaker 1: get and you don't throw a fit like, oh, well,
- 28:49Speaker 1: you wanted to be a musician, this is the cost
- 28:51Speaker 1: of being a musician. Okay, tell that to Billy Joel.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Do you think Billy Joel, what's be like? Okay, So
- 28:58Speaker 1: when I saw Praying being performed the first time, a
- 29:03Speaker 1: person in the section ahead of us, So I was
- 29:05Speaker 1: like in the second section of seats, and then people
- 29:08Speaker 1: who had more expensive seats were in the front. In
- 29:10Speaker 1: the center, she had made a bunch of rainbow hearts
- 29:14Speaker 1: that said things like we love you, We're proud of you,
- 29:18Speaker 1: like just all of these little like messages. And then
- 29:21Speaker 1: she asked people who she was sitting here, like do
- 29:24Speaker 1: you want a heart to hold up during praying? And
- 29:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna cry thinking about it. So I saw this
- 29:32Speaker 1: castime no for the Rainbow tour, So this is gonna
- 29:36Speaker 1: even cry. So like it's it's literally her first tour,
- 29:40Speaker 1: her first album. She's not even headlining. She's never headlined
- 29:44Speaker 1: a tour sent besides since before gag Order. I think
- 29:49Speaker 1: she said, yeah she was. She was back Lamore's opener.
- 29:55Speaker 1: So like it's the first music that she's been able
- 29:57Speaker 1: to produce. She's kind of playing her old stuff that
- 30:00Speaker 1: gets us pumping, but you can tell that she's had
- 30:02Speaker 1: to make little adjustments to it. So because it's all
- 30:05Speaker 1: so wrapped up in her legal battle, and so she
- 30:09Speaker 1: starts praying, and all of a sudden, the front section
- 30:14Speaker 1: gets filled with all of these rainbow hearts, and then like,
- 30:17Speaker 1: I'm all I've cried because she's sang bastards. It's one
- 30:22Speaker 1: of my I'm gonna say, oh, and it's good if
- 30:27Speaker 1: you're mad, and it's good if you're sad, and it's
- 30:29Speaker 1: good if you're happy and proud of yourself, like it's
- 30:32Speaker 1: just good. And so I cried literally because she walked
- 30:37Speaker 1: on stage. Honestly, I was like, oh my god, it's
- 30:39Speaker 1: my girl, and I'm so proud of her. And then
- 30:42Speaker 1: these rainbow hearts come up and she starts bawling and
- 30:46Speaker 1: then we the audience carry the rest of the song
- 30:50Speaker 1: with her, like we're singing with her. I'm crying, she's crying.
- 30:53Speaker 1: And then when she was done, she was like, I'm
- 30:55Speaker 1: sure you all saw the hearts, but each one has
- 30:59Speaker 1: like a it's just support for me. And she goes
- 31:04Speaker 1: and I've never had anything like that happened to me before.
- 31:09Speaker 1: After all of this, like, and she talked a lot
- 31:14Speaker 1: about it at the Tits Out Tour about how like
- 31:18Speaker 1: number one for the Tits Out Tour to be something
- 31:21Speaker 1: that was called Tits out right right and for it
- 31:25Speaker 1: to be one of the most emotional concerts I've ever
- 31:28Speaker 1: been to. Number one. She opens it up with a
- 31:30Speaker 1: pagan ceremony where she sacrifices a mannequin head that is
- 31:34Speaker 1: in the likeness of controlled by Tape doctor Luke Kesha,
- 31:39Speaker 1: with like the black star on the eye and the
- 31:42Speaker 1: feathered hair and everything. She's like, I'm sacrificing this. This
- 31:46Speaker 1: is not who we are anymore. We're cleansing her from
- 31:48Speaker 1: the energy. So like I I am an acolyte to Ksha,
- 31:55Speaker 1: I already belong in the cult. My poor sister, My
- 31:58Speaker 1: poor sister has just come becase as I had a ticket,
- 32:02Speaker 1: I didn't want to go by myself, so I bought
- 32:04Speaker 1: her a ticket.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Oh I didn't even remember when.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:10Speaker 1: So I'm crying while she's doing her pagan ceremony. My
- 32:13Speaker 1: sister is literally looking at me like what the fucking happening?
- 32:18Speaker 1: Are we joining a cult? Did you bring me to
- 32:20Speaker 1: occult thing? And I was like, just let it happened.
- 32:23Speaker 1: I'm crying. I'm at church. The demons are leaving me.
- 32:28Speaker 1: I I am literally like testifying. My sister is just
- 32:32Speaker 1: patiently waiting for TikTok to.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Like something like that.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Yeah, she's just calmly waiting for we are who we are,
- 32:47Speaker 1: and I'm literally having a religious experience.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Because she is. And I think we have touched it,
- 32:56Speaker 2: but like it's just especially for someone to walk into.
- 33:00Speaker 3: I think it's actually probably like really cool, amazing, like
- 33:03Speaker 3: that your sister walked into that expecting or like you know,
- 33:07Speaker 3: thinking of TikTok twenty one year old Kasha and to
- 33:10Speaker 3: see just like how deep yes she is now.
- 33:15Speaker 2: And like her music is deep, it's like moving.
- 33:19Speaker 1: She's so spiritual. She had that podcast during the quarantine,
- 33:23Speaker 1: during the lockdown that was all about like aliens and
- 33:26Speaker 1: people like her and Debbie Levato went out into the
- 33:30Speaker 1: desert to dry and find aliens jealous. I think the
- 33:36Speaker 1: thing about like Keasha for me is that she is
- 33:39Speaker 1: so genuine and that's probably why she was taken advantage of,
- 33:46Speaker 1: because well, number one, you are what twenty years old,
- 33:50Speaker 1: and all of these men in suits named Steve and
- 33:52Speaker 1: Luke are looking at you and they're just like, this
- 33:55Speaker 1: is how you make money and sign these papers and
- 33:58Speaker 1: you don't know how. I'm very seven years old. I
- 34:00Speaker 1: still don't read papers that well. That I sign right, no, totally,
- 34:04Speaker 1: and like it's years old, right, and like your mom's
- 34:09Speaker 1: kind of been through with like Dolly Parry and all
- 34:12Speaker 1: the other people that she collaborates with, so she's probably
- 34:14Speaker 1: glancing through papers, but she's probably not who even knows
- 34:17Speaker 1: if she was invited to meetings. And it's just like
- 34:24Speaker 1: they make part of the gas lighting of the entertainment industry,
- 34:29Speaker 1: which is so funny because like here I am telling
- 34:32Speaker 1: people that I'm going to write TV and movies, and
- 34:34Speaker 1: I'm also like, but it's bad here, but I promise
- 34:38Speaker 1: by the end of the episode this will all have
- 34:40Speaker 1: an arc. I think that like part of the big
- 34:47Speaker 1: manipulation machine in the entertainment industry and honestly in capitalism
- 34:53Speaker 1: and America in general in twenty twenty six is the
- 34:56Speaker 1: scarcity complex that they keep us in fear of, where
- 34:59Speaker 1: it's like any girl could be a pop star, but
- 35:02Speaker 1: we chose you, and not everyone gets that opportunity, and
- 35:05Speaker 1: they're constantly feeding you that bullshit and you're too skinny,
- 35:08Speaker 1: or you're too fat, or you're too hot, or you're
- 35:11Speaker 1: too virginal, or like someone else got to be the virgin,
- 35:15Speaker 1: so you have to hoe it up and like it's sick.
- 35:19Speaker 1: They made Britney Spears dance with a snake. They didn't
- 35:22Speaker 1: even ask her if she was afraid of snakes. Oh real,
- 35:27Speaker 1: I don't really need that for real. Who wants to
- 35:30Speaker 1: dance with the ball python? Not me? And she killed it.
- 35:37Speaker 1: And then and now I'm gonna get out of my
- 35:40Speaker 1: Britney Spears high horse where I'm like, and now people
- 35:43Speaker 1: want to make fun of her because she's like scantily
- 35:45Speaker 1: clad on Instagram, you know, doing her knives dances, and like,
- 35:50Speaker 1: people who have been in love with Britney Spears forever
- 35:53Speaker 1: are like, well, that's how she always danced. It's just
- 35:55Speaker 1: with knives now and unwashed hair, yeah.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Right right, like booty swords in a time.
- 36:04Speaker 1: That's how she always dances. It's literally her routine. And
- 36:08Speaker 1: then I'm like and then I was like, you know,
- 36:10Speaker 1: Britney Spears told us why she kept getting naked on Instagram,
- 36:13Speaker 1: and it's because, for the first time in her life,
- 36:15Speaker 1: she owns her body. So she's going to put a
- 36:20Speaker 1: little clam over her Pikachu. She's going to be naked
- 36:24Speaker 1: on Instagram. She's over it, She's earned it. Literally, all
- 36:30Speaker 1: I want in the world is for Amanda Vines and
- 36:34Speaker 1: Kesha and Britney Spears and Jeanette McCarty and all of
- 36:38Speaker 1: my like angels. I just want them to have one
- 36:42Speaker 1: good friend. And I know that Paris Hilton is checking
- 36:46Speaker 1: in on Britney Spears. Yeah yeah, but like also Paris
- 36:52Speaker 1: is also one of my lost little angels, like she's
- 36:54Speaker 1: been through shit. Yeah we found out.
- 36:57Speaker 2: It really kind of like pulled the curtain back on that.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Yeah. I either want all of my little angels to
- 37:02Speaker 1: form a club or I just want them to be
- 37:05Speaker 1: like I want to be their friends so I can
- 37:07Speaker 1: save them. I guess which is codependency. I just want,
- 37:11Speaker 1: like all my lost little angels to just have like
- 37:15Speaker 1: And I don't even know who's strong enough to do it.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I think Chelsea Handler, But Chelsea Handler also doesn't want
- 37:21Speaker 1: a little a row of duck Lan's. She's very she's
- 37:25Speaker 1: very upfront about that, but I don't know, maybe Kathy Griffin.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Lohand yeah, I still know she's coming out of.
- 37:37Speaker 1: I know my girl, Lindsey looks great and she's doing
- 37:41Speaker 1: the mom stuff and she looks great, and she's on
- 37:44Speaker 1: one hell of a comebat and she's also a success
- 37:49Speaker 1: story too. Oh my god, Hillary Duff's back on tour,
- 37:54Speaker 1: Baby my girl, she is, she's coming clean, looks she's
- 38:01Speaker 1: making the rainfall down. The thing about Kasha now and
- 38:05Speaker 1: this tits out to her, is that it was such
- 38:08Speaker 1: like an emotional and it felt it truly felt like
- 38:13Speaker 1: her pain homage to us, the people who stuck it through.
- 38:19Speaker 1: You could feel it. You could feel like the collective
- 38:22Speaker 1: love in the room and how excited people were that
- 38:28Speaker 1: she was doing better.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Yeah, totally.
- 38:31Speaker 1: And she looks good as.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Fun, amazing, and she sounded like so good.
- 38:36Speaker 1: She sounded so good, right, Because let me tell you,
- 38:43Speaker 1: and I know that you all think that I'm full
- 38:45Speaker 1: of shit, but all of these women that they made
- 38:47Speaker 1: pop stars and made them use auto tune, they actually
- 38:50Speaker 1: do have really fucking great voices. Britney Spears, Kasha Miley,
- 38:54Speaker 1: name them right, name them, name them.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Oh, I totally agree with you. And I remember assuming
- 39:07Speaker 2: that Kasha wouldn't be goodbye right. I think it was
- 39:11Speaker 2: the rumor because I didn't see her.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Honestly, the worst to the person who was the worst
- 39:18Speaker 1: live when they started out was the Taylor Allison Swift.
- 39:22Speaker 1: She was bad live. You can watch the she was
- 39:27Speaker 1: bad and she worked at it, so I'm proud of her.
- 39:30Speaker 2: But she was bad, yeah, which.
- 39:35Speaker 1: And they did her yeah, but still like and and
- 39:43Speaker 1: I think what's so amazing about Kesha is that she's
- 39:46Speaker 1: taking all this healing. And this is when it clicked
- 39:48Speaker 1: for me that Kasha was healed and I still had
- 39:51Speaker 1: some bullshit to work on. I don't know how you
- 39:56Speaker 1: sing praying, but I sing it like I'm literal really
- 40:00Speaker 1: about to light every man who's round me on fire.
- 40:04Speaker 1: I'm angry, I'm using like my belly voice, my entire
- 40:09Speaker 1: face has contorted. It's a lot like how I look
- 40:12Speaker 1: when I'm singing all too well with detend f. I'm crying,
- 40:16Speaker 1: but I'm also like looking like I might eat your face,
- 40:20Speaker 1: Like there's a lot going on, and there's there's a
- 40:23Speaker 1: lot going on physically, emotionally and spiritually. I look like
- 40:27Speaker 1: a lune. But when Keshus sings Praying Now, she does
- 40:32Speaker 1: sing it from like a fucking like, yeah, this is
- 40:34Speaker 1: a great song that I wrote. But I'm healed now,
- 40:36Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, maybe I should you know falling
- 40:40Speaker 1: back we're healed now, you know?
- 40:44Speaker 2: Oh my god, No, I think I don't know. I
- 40:49Speaker 2: feel like it's just one of those songs. It's just
- 40:51Speaker 2: like when you sing it, like when I mean, like
- 40:54Speaker 2: if you didn't listen, it's like it's gonna take, you know.
- 40:59Speaker 2: And like I think when I saw her, so when
- 41:02Speaker 2: I saw her this for the Tits Out Tour, that
- 41:03Speaker 2: was the first time I see he sees my divorse
- 41:05Speaker 2: and I like felt praying in a different way. I
- 41:12Speaker 2: feel like than I did before. Like I was I like,
- 41:15Speaker 2: I'm like I said every time my team played a
- 41:18Speaker 2: famous cry, but like this pastime, it was like I
- 41:24Speaker 2: was angry because I could like relate to it in
- 41:30Speaker 2: a different way now and like now like I'm like
- 41:33Speaker 2: I'm feeling like about someone how she feels, you know.
- 41:37Speaker 2: And it was definitely I remember I was like definitely
- 41:41Speaker 2: ugly crying because I had on my handles in my
- 41:43Speaker 2: mouth like the whole fucking time because I just and happy.
- 41:49Speaker 2: I don't like I'm talking about it, but happy is
- 41:51Speaker 2: just like I listen, I feel like she did. So
- 41:56Speaker 2: I feel like she manifested everything through Happy in gag order,
- 42:02Speaker 2: like how she says like she wanted all these things
- 42:04Speaker 2: and like looking at she wasn't there and I feel
- 42:07Speaker 2: like almost like when I did that, I felt like
- 42:09Speaker 2: I kind of did the same.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Thing right, like when when when we were in the car,
- 42:16Speaker 1: like after happy and guys, I don't know, Like you
- 42:20Speaker 1: gotta look up clips of it on YouTube. It's literally
- 42:23Speaker 1: just like her in a birthday hat with a guitar,
- 42:28Speaker 1: just singing about how she finally gets to let it
- 42:31Speaker 1: all go and she's happy, like don't worry, I'm happy. Yeah,
- 42:35Speaker 1: But it's also like a song about being happy one day,
- 42:39Speaker 1: like and she's like and she tells us like, today's
- 42:42Speaker 1: the day, Today's the day I get to be happy.
- 42:45Speaker 1: So I'm bawling. And then I get into the car
- 42:48Speaker 1: and I tell my sister, and then I told my
- 42:51Speaker 1: writing group the next day because we had like our
- 42:53Speaker 1: magic hour where we all get together and manifest and
- 42:56Speaker 1: talk about our psychic moments. And I told them all
- 42:59Speaker 1: and it was it's like that entire concert is literally
- 43:04Speaker 1: what I hope for for all of us. I go.
- 43:08Speaker 1: Kasha has been through some of the most horrific things
- 43:11Speaker 1: that could ever happen to a person and a woman,
- 43:14Speaker 1: and then she had to do it so publicly, and
- 43:17Speaker 1: then she had to deal with a lot of us
- 43:19Speaker 1: telling her that she was a liar and a skink
- 43:22Speaker 1: and a dumbass and all of it. I go. And
- 43:26Speaker 1: now she's singing on a tour that she's funded on
- 43:30Speaker 1: her own, and she's producing her own music, she's reclaiming
- 43:35Speaker 1: her other music. I go, and she's happy, and I go,
- 43:40Speaker 1: and I desperately need more examples like this if I'm
- 43:43Speaker 1: going to continue to be a woman who fights against
- 43:46Speaker 1: misogyny and the patriarchy. Because we don't get a lot
- 43:50Speaker 1: of wins.
- 43:51Speaker 2: And that's essentially like it's fun, it's fucked.
- 43:56Speaker 1: We don't get a lot of wins. And I'm like, I,
- 44:00Speaker 1: this is what you want. It's not that I that
- 44:05Speaker 1: almost sounds shitty. It's not that like I have this
- 44:08Speaker 1: delusion that like, one day patriarchy will fix itself. It
- 44:12Speaker 1: will just go away and we will live perfectly and
- 44:16Speaker 1: no one will ever be hurt again and none of
- 44:19Speaker 1: the trauma will hang on or any of it. It's
- 44:22Speaker 1: not even that. It's like I want us all to
- 44:25Speaker 1: be where Kasha is right now, where we look great,
- 44:28Speaker 1: when we sound great, and we're doing exactly what we
- 44:31Speaker 1: fucking want to do, and we're doing it on our terms,
- 44:34Speaker 1: which is kind of where the arc of all of
- 44:36Speaker 1: this is closing out because Ksha, I mean, you saw
- 44:40Speaker 1: her advertise it at the Tits Outthoor. She has that
- 44:44Speaker 1: smash app where she's like, we can recreate the music industry,
- 44:49Speaker 1: we can collaborate with one another. Why are we not
- 44:53Speaker 1: communicating with one another? Why are we not giving each
- 44:56Speaker 1: other opportunities? Why are we not coming together? So we
- 45:00Speaker 1: are in a safe industry, because we're the industry that
- 45:05Speaker 1: is going to make my dream come true. Where it's
- 45:08Speaker 1: like we're not answering to men, we're like.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Taking the power from them, im back because could.
- 45:16Speaker 1: You imagine if Chelsea Green and all of the women
- 45:19Speaker 1: of the WWE and all of the adjacent wrestling things.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Could you imagine if they just said we're fucking done
- 45:27Speaker 1: and we're redoing glow and you guys don't get to play,
- 45:32Speaker 1: and you and I would be in the front row.
- 45:35Speaker 2: Let's go, Let's go.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Because here's the thing, the idea that there's not enough
- 45:41Speaker 1: room for all of us. It's the same in the
- 45:43Speaker 1: music industry. It's the same in the comedy industry. It's
- 45:46Speaker 1: the same in the wrestling industry. Fuck, it's the same
- 45:49Speaker 1: in every office. You could ever walk into the idea
- 45:52Speaker 1: that there's only a spot for one woman, so you
- 45:55Speaker 1: better punch out all of the other women so you
- 45:57Speaker 1: can sit at that table. It's a lie, it's a falsehood.
- 46:02Speaker 1: They don't want us talking to one another, they don't
- 46:04Speaker 1: want us telling it. What are you making? This is
- 46:07Speaker 1: what I'm making. Do you get maternity leave? Because I do,
- 46:10Speaker 1: like you know right? So yeah, I think that I
- 46:13Speaker 1: was so glad when you were like, I'm finally ready
- 46:15Speaker 1: to talk about Kasha, because Kasha did become like my
- 46:20Speaker 1: beacon of hope that I was like, you can work
- 46:23Speaker 1: your ass up. You can be the most talented. You
- 46:25Speaker 1: can be abused and bought against every step of the way,
- 46:31Speaker 1: and then at the end of the day, if you
- 46:33Speaker 1: decenter men from whatever it is that you're trying to do,
- 46:39Speaker 1: and you do it on your own, you make magic.
- 46:42Speaker 1: And that's what she did. She held my hands. She
- 46:46Speaker 1: knew well and do you know what I found out
- 46:47Speaker 1: from the tits out tour. If you hang out, she
- 46:50Speaker 1: does do like whatever the equivalent of like stage dooring
- 46:54Speaker 1: is at a concert, Like she'll just come and hang
- 46:56Speaker 1: out like yeah in the like stay there, yeah, and
- 47:03Speaker 1: like chat with people. Isn't that wild?
- 47:07Speaker 2: That's really bored. I wish I knew that when I
- 47:09Speaker 2: saw her.
- 47:10Speaker 1: Me too. Oh, if I was in that really tiny
- 47:14Speaker 1: venue that you were in for the gag ordered tour,
- 47:18Speaker 1: I would have hunt around. I would be like, there's
- 47:20Speaker 1: got to be a door she's got to come out of.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Like I when Kasha held my hands and she healed
- 47:25Speaker 1: me and I did I told everyone. I was like,
- 47:27Speaker 1: Kasha is the reason why I have a podcast. It's
- 47:30Speaker 1: the reason why I write the things that I write.
- 47:32Speaker 1: It's the reason why I'm always hustling to try and
- 47:34Speaker 1: get the shit heard or read or all of it.
- 47:38Speaker 1: And it's because I need people to know that at
- 47:41Speaker 1: the other side of all of this is enlightenment. It's empowerment,
- 47:48Speaker 1: it's helping one another and building the community. So all
- 47:52Speaker 1: of the movies aren't about Leonardo DiCaprio colonizing a nation
- 47:58Speaker 1: or being eaten by a wall, or about like Captain
- 48:01Speaker 1: America getting a new pair of underpants. Who fucking cares?
- 48:08Speaker 1: You know? It's about to be It is Oscar season.
- 48:10Speaker 1: It's a word season. And we got the nominations today
- 48:13Speaker 1: and currently Sinners is the number one. It has the
- 48:19Speaker 1: most Oscars nominations that have ever happened for.
- 48:25Speaker 2: Like, I was blown away. I cried.
- 48:30Speaker 1: Right because they've been snubbed at every other fucking Awards
- 48:33Speaker 1: ceremony that I've worked for, worked for Timmy Tay. I
- 48:41Speaker 1: do not take Timmy Tay seriously. And I don't want
- 48:44Speaker 1: to watch his Ping Pong movie. Yeah, you're trying to
- 48:48Speaker 1: get me to take Timmy Tay seriously at he's played
- 48:51Speaker 1: Ping Pong. Okay, is there anything that you want to
- 48:54Speaker 1: say about Kasha before we wrap up? What's your biggest
- 48:57Speaker 1: lesson that you've learned from Kesha?
- 49:00Speaker 2: So, I think my biggest last thing from Kasha is
- 49:05Speaker 2: it's like that you like the answer or like the
- 49:12Speaker 2: truth or I don't know what, like the but like
- 49:14Speaker 2: it's all inside you, yeah, you know, and like even
- 49:18Speaker 2: though like I think a lot, especially like especially since
- 49:24Speaker 2: since my divorce, I was, you know, whistling with my
- 49:27Speaker 2: expert a two years I was a kid, and like
- 49:31Speaker 2: coming out of that and like trying to identify like
- 49:36Speaker 2: it was such as a narcissist. It was intertwined or envioized.
- 49:40Speaker 2: We're completely in fine, Like my I didn't have an identity.
- 49:44Speaker 2: I feel like my own identity towards the last ten years,
- 49:49Speaker 2: and I feel like I spent a lot of that
- 49:51Speaker 2: time after just trying to figure out who I am,
- 49:58Speaker 2: and I think Kashia and seeing like her journey is
- 50:05Speaker 2: very like moving and empowering and like like I said,
- 50:09Speaker 2: with like gag Order living in my head, like it's
- 50:13Speaker 2: so depressing, like any I mean, I look like a
- 50:15Speaker 2: lot of people, unless you're like a really big Tsha fan,
- 50:18Speaker 2: a lot of people don't even know that album exist.
- 50:20Speaker 1: I feel like, but also the gag Order, what's its
- 50:23Speaker 1: new name? Is gag Ordered the current name? Or oh
- 50:26Speaker 1: yeah they choosed it to is it eth the Acid?
- 50:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's acid. And I know I should respect
- 50:34Speaker 2: her and step playing a gag.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Order, I really should, But you fell in Love with
- 50:39Speaker 1: a Widow was called gag Order, And that's what I
- 50:41Speaker 1: think because of the brokenness like was going on to
- 50:44Speaker 1: me and like in the music the art there, and
- 50:47Speaker 1: I just yeah, so I think.
- 50:49Speaker 2: Just watching the trajectory of like her life and like
- 50:51Speaker 2: what she's come through and like come out and like
- 50:53Speaker 2: being happy and like being her full self, Like it's
- 50:58Speaker 2: I had to one weird thing that I've had to
- 51:02Speaker 2: do in trying to gain my own sense of self.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Is I think of myself before I was with man,
- 51:10Speaker 2: when I was sixteen years old, you know, and I'm like,
- 51:13Speaker 2: who was I? And like there's so many things I
- 51:16Speaker 2: think of, like and I'm like, well, the last time
- 51:18Speaker 2: I did this, I was fifteen or you know what
- 51:20Speaker 2: I mean, like the last time I wanted you know,
- 51:22Speaker 2: I don't know. And I think it's it's that was
- 51:26Speaker 2: empowered me is to kind of like tap into like
- 51:28Speaker 2: who I was then when I was like before like trauma,
- 51:34Speaker 2: before I was Drama dies and like see and I
- 51:36Speaker 2: just think that that tra Jet three and like kind
- 51:40Speaker 2: of almost similar. And I do I get like mom, Dad,
- 51:44Speaker 2: I listen to.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Everything she ever ever ever, girl, I'm always in your
- 51:49Speaker 1: corner unless you do me like Taylor Swift and you
- 51:52Speaker 1: make me listen to songs about a football man stick,
- 51:55Speaker 1: you can't make me do it. I think what I've
- 51:58Speaker 1: learned from Kasha, and it goes along with what you've
- 52:01Speaker 1: learned from Kesha, is that like you cannot rely on
- 52:06Speaker 1: the abusive systems to care that you're abused, you know, Yeah, yeah,
- 52:13Speaker 1: that's it. And I think, like, you know, it was
- 52:16Speaker 1: a six year trial, and at the end of it,
- 52:19Speaker 1: she chose, while I'm moving on and I've got to
- 52:22Speaker 1: move forward, but I'm going to move on better, and
- 52:25Speaker 1: I'm going to move on in a way that empowers
- 52:28Speaker 1: other people to not end up what ended up tying
- 52:31Speaker 1: up my career and my entire existence for six years.
- 52:36Speaker 1: And I think that's what it is. I think we
- 52:39Speaker 1: constantly have to be looking for those pockets where we
- 52:43Speaker 1: go no to whatever it is, the music industry, the
- 52:47Speaker 1: entertainment industry, your toxic boss, any of it. Like all
- 52:51Speaker 1: of these ways that we are forced into corners and
- 52:55Speaker 1: boxes where like people are just going to tell us
- 52:57Speaker 1: you have to accept that you're going to be abused.
- 52:59Speaker 1: It's what it is, like, it's just how we do
- 53:02Speaker 1: things here. Jack Nicholson is going to smack your ass.
- 53:05Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Like, don't come to the oscars if you
- 53:08Speaker 1: don't want it to happen, and instead be the people
- 53:14Speaker 1: who are creating things like Smash or Behind the Banes
- 53:18Speaker 1: or all of these, all of these people who have
- 53:22Speaker 1: been out of work because of writer strikes and COVID
- 53:25Speaker 1: and all of it. I know that I'm clocked into
- 53:29Speaker 1: it because it's currently my whole world. But there are
- 53:32Speaker 1: tiktoks of just like people being like, I've got a
- 53:35Speaker 1: camera crew in this and we're gonna shoot as many
- 53:37Speaker 1: short films in a weekend as we can. So submit
- 53:40Speaker 1: your script, and like people are helping people. And Maclamore
- 53:45Speaker 1: did Kesha a solid by putting her on that tour,
- 53:48Speaker 1: and Tea Pain did Kesha a solid by being on
- 53:51Speaker 1: Yebi Kaye. I was kind of hoping he was coming
- 53:53Speaker 1: to the tour. I was like, what's Tea Pain doing nothing?
- 53:59Speaker 1: Get on here, Team Pay, And then my friend clued
- 54:02Speaker 1: me into the reason why t Pain goes on everyone's
- 54:05Speaker 1: tracks is so he never has to tour because he's
- 54:07Speaker 1: getting money from other people's thoughts, which is smart. That's smart.
- 54:12Speaker 1: T Pay, he's on that one. He won Mask Singer.
- 54:18Speaker 1: He won Mask Singer. Yeah, I love you T Pain.
- 54:23Speaker 2: God.
- 54:25Speaker 1: I swear to fucking god, T pay if you. I
- 54:28Speaker 1: can't do it anymore. I can't do it anymore with
- 54:31Speaker 1: the Nelly and the snoop Dog And like Fitty Sense
- 54:35Speaker 1: is only pretending to be a good man because of
- 54:37Speaker 1: the ditty stuff and he just wants to be petty
- 54:39Speaker 1: for Diddy, and I respect it. But I also know
- 54:42Speaker 1: that Fiddy's not on my side. He's not an ally,
- 54:46Speaker 1: right right, Yeah, I mean a lot of people have
- 54:48Speaker 1: said that. They're like, I mean, he's not on my side.
- 54:51Speaker 1: He's not an ally. He's just against Ditty, which I love, Like,
- 54:55Speaker 1: we're okay with that, but stay away from it. Kendrick
- 55:00Speaker 1: Lamar all day, every day you come over here, Kendrake,
- 55:03Speaker 1: you petty little ass.
- 55:06Speaker 2: Oh my god, I will never ever forget watching Supersall
- 55:11Speaker 2: it happened. So when he said, hey Drake and a
- 55:14Speaker 2: way for it and he.
- 55:16Speaker 1: Hey Drake, I hear you like it?
- 55:18Speaker 2: Young Drake was one of my that was that was
- 55:23Speaker 2: a breakup for me. I was late to the Drake Prairie.
- 55:26Speaker 2: I got Super Drake like twenty sixteen. He was like
- 55:30Speaker 2: the top art or something.
- 55:32Speaker 1: Oh no, literally would have been me. I would have like,
- 55:35Speaker 1: I think we should see a minor wherever Drake is.
- 55:38Speaker 1: I think anytime Drake walks into her room, so once
- 55:42Speaker 1: she go a minor fun hilarious, hilarious. But yeah, that's
- 55:50Speaker 1: what Kasha taught me. It's like, don't rely on abusive
- 55:53Speaker 1: systems to care that you're abused. Create something new, create
- 55:57Speaker 1: something better, for yourself, empower yourself to do it. Find
- 56:01Speaker 1: the people who are going to help you do it,
- 56:03Speaker 1: because clearly someone's helping Kasha. I don't know how you
- 56:07Speaker 1: did get yourself out of the debt hole and all
- 56:10Speaker 1: of it. That was probably those six years. So someone's
- 56:15Speaker 1: helping her somewhere. So find find the what did all?
- 56:19Speaker 1: Mister Rogers always told us to find the helpers, and
- 56:23Speaker 1: that's what Kasha did. That's adorable. Oh, mister Rogers. Another
- 56:28Speaker 1: man I support, but he's dead, so it's hard. Him
- 56:32Speaker 1: and Steve Him and Steve Irwin. I cried every week
- 56:39Speaker 1: at Dancing with the Starts with Robert Irwin. And when
- 56:41Speaker 1: people are like, why are you crying, I'm like, because
- 56:43Speaker 1: Steve Irwin's still dead. I cannot get over it. What
- 56:47Speaker 1: do you manifest per Kesha and all of her animals.
- 56:53Speaker 2: I just want to manifest that she continues to be
- 57:02Speaker 2: empowered and continues to just like live her best life,
- 57:05Speaker 2: like unapologetically whatever that may be doing, whatever, whether that be.
- 57:12Speaker 2: I mean, I would obviously love for her to continue
- 57:15Speaker 2: making music forever and go on to her forever, but honestly,
- 57:19Speaker 2: she's the type of person that I'm like batty girl,
- 57:24Speaker 2: whatever you want. If she decides, like you know what,
- 57:27Speaker 2: I want to just be them go live in Like.
- 57:30Speaker 2: I don't think she would do that, but if she did,
- 57:31Speaker 2: I would be like, I just want her to be
- 57:34Speaker 2: whole and happy.
- 57:36Speaker 1: Well that's what it took for Lindsay Lohan to come
- 57:39Speaker 1: back to us healed and do Freaker Friday. She had
- 57:41Speaker 1: to go away. Yeah, where was she in Dubai?
- 57:44Speaker 2: Something like that. She'd think it will go for a while.
- 57:46Speaker 1: When she was like at a restaurant, she did her
- 57:49Speaker 1: own white Lotus journey. She was Parker posey somewhere else happened. No, Yeah,
- 57:56Speaker 1: I just I also hope that like that, she just
- 57:59Speaker 1: looked so good. She just looks so good, and she
- 58:01Speaker 1: was so happy, and I believed it and I bought in.
- 58:04Speaker 1: So I hope it was the truth. Noh, she's so happy.
- 58:08Speaker 1: When I talked about, like how my parasocial relationship ended
- 58:12Speaker 1: with Kasha that night, because she held my hands and
- 58:14Speaker 1: acknowledged me as a human too. My friend did say,
- 58:17Speaker 1: she goes it was probably your genuine energy calling to
- 58:20Speaker 1: her genuine energy, and she knew, she knew that you
- 58:23Speaker 1: were there because you were just checking in on her
- 58:25Speaker 1: and you love her.
- 58:26Speaker 2: I was like, I do, honestly, yeah, I believe that,
- 58:30Speaker 2: like because I mean our energies and in pusion, she's
- 58:36Speaker 2: a pisces too.
- 58:37Speaker 1: So Jersey, do you have anything to plug?
- 58:43Speaker 2: Honestly, not really. I'm just live in twenty twenty six
- 58:47Speaker 2: trying to get by and it is very tough, you know,
- 58:55Speaker 2: but yeah, I'm just watching. I would love for everybody
- 59:00Speaker 2: else to plug with the all people watching.
- 59:04Speaker 1: All right, well, everyone, make sure to go find us
