- 0:34Speaker 3: She's on the Money, She's on the Money. Hello, and
- 0:58Speaker 3: welcome to She's on the Money, the podcast for millennials
- 1:01Speaker 3: who want financial freedom.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Welcome back to another one of our.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Very special money diaries where we get to talk with
- 1:08Speaker 3: one of our beautiful She's on the Money community members
- 1:11Speaker 3: all about their money story. Let's jump in because this
- 1:15Speaker 3: week I got a message and it went like this,
- 1:18Speaker 3: Hi V, I'm a single mum, a teacher. I'm renting
- 1:20Speaker 3: my house out on Airbnb whilst I've moved back in
- 1:23Speaker 3: with my parents and I have made an extra forty
- 1:26Speaker 3: one thousand dollars in twelve months from being on Airbnb
- 1:30Speaker 3: money diarist forty one grands, basically someone's whole salary.
- 1:35Speaker 1: What the heck?
- 1:36Speaker 4: Yeah, it's ver pretty amazing. And I actually got the
- 1:39Speaker 4: idea from one of your podcasts.
- 1:40Speaker 3: I'm going to hit up Airbnb for a sponsorship. I'm
- 1:43Speaker 3: going to be like, hi, mbab, it's me. I'm basically
- 1:45Speaker 3: funding your entire business at this point.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:48Speaker 4: I think it was Georgia or Jess that just said
- 1:50Speaker 4: that one of their brothers was doing it on the weekend. Yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 4: and I just going, oh, that's actually a great idea.
- 1:55Speaker 4: I'll give that a go and see.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, So how did that go with you?
- 1:59Speaker 3: I guess having to move back in with your parents
- 2:01Speaker 3: and stuff like.
- 2:02Speaker 4: It wasn't ideal. We built our house over like during COVID,
- 2:07Speaker 4: and we were only in it for six months before
- 2:09Speaker 4: we separated, which was unfortunate, but it was a bit hectic.
- 2:13Speaker 4: I had decided to do the airbnb literally just before
- 2:17Speaker 4: I moved back home with mum and dad, and I
- 2:20Speaker 4: had my first booking ready to go, and he hadn't
- 2:23Speaker 4: moved his stuff out just yet, so it was literally awkward.
- 2:27Speaker 4: He moved out one day and then the booking was
- 2:29Speaker 4: the very next day, and it was like mayhem. It
- 2:32Speaker 4: was like an episode of the Block where they're getting
- 2:34Speaker 4: all their life stuff Freddy. Yeah, so my parents even
- 2:38Speaker 4: helped me with that. His mum helped me as well.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, a door.
- 2:42Speaker 3: All right, I want to know before we get further
- 2:44Speaker 3: into it, because I've got so many questions. I feel
- 2:46Speaker 3: like you've just given us so many like tipbits and
- 2:48Speaker 3: like things that I'm like, are the spoilers?
- 2:50Speaker 1: I think they are? But money dos?
- 2:53Speaker 3: What grade would you give your money habits if I
- 2:54Speaker 3: asked you to grade them from A through to F.
- 2:57Speaker 4: I was talking with my partner about this last night,
- 3:00Speaker 4: and I think it being minus.
- 3:03Speaker 3: All right, well let's learn more about it. My favorite
- 3:05Speaker 3: question in the entire universe, money diarist. Can you tell
- 3:09Speaker 3: me a little bit more about your money story?
- 3:12Speaker 4: Yeah? So, growing up it's very middle class family. My
- 3:16Speaker 4: parents were divorced when I was nine months old. That
- 3:18Speaker 4: my stepdad was in the picture from like two, and
- 3:21Speaker 4: we never wanted for anything, so we you know, did
- 3:24Speaker 4: music lessons, did dance class, but money wasn't really talked
- 3:27Speaker 4: about at all. So when I was eighteen. My mum
- 3:31Speaker 4: recommended I got a credit card because then you'd get
- 3:34Speaker 4: a good credit score, even though that's not what we
- 3:36Speaker 4: do in a tire as I've.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Learned, that's fine.
- 3:38Speaker 3: She was doing the best she could with the resources
- 3:41Speaker 3: and knowledge she had.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Yep, financial literacy. Interesting. Yeah, but I was lucky that
- 3:45Speaker 4: I didn't actually splurge too much. I paid it off
- 3:48Speaker 4: every month. I had like a four grand loan towards
- 3:52Speaker 4: my car, and yeah, I paid it off consistently. So
- 3:56Speaker 4: my money story, yes, that's pretty much it. I think
- 4:00Speaker 4: I've always been a really good saver. So I ended
- 4:02Speaker 4: up saving like one hundred grand towards.
- 4:05Speaker 1: My first house. No you didn't.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I've built twice. I was with my first boyfriend
- 4:11Speaker 4: for like nine years, so we built out in the
- 4:14Speaker 4: Racklyn area anyway, like we'd separated, and I got a
- 4:19Speaker 4: settlement out of that, and then I ended up paying
- 4:21Speaker 4: my hegsteat off with it because I wanted to be
- 4:24Speaker 4: debt free. Reconnected with my high school sweetheart ten years later,
- 4:28Speaker 4: we got back together and got married, had our little munchkin.
- 4:31Speaker 1: No you didn't, that's so sweet.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I know you have a bam beanie together, we too,
- 4:38Speaker 3: but then it's ended.
- 4:40Speaker 1: So what that was a roller coaster?
- 4:43Speaker 4: It was crazy, right, He ended up cheating and leaving
- 4:46Speaker 4: me for a twenty three year old, so it was like.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Got to work out in the long term really nicely
- 4:51Speaker 1: for him.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Yeah, but I mean I'd realive it every day just
- 4:53Speaker 4: to have her.
- 4:54Speaker 3: So yeah, no, one hundred percent, Like, yeah, straight in
- 4:57Speaker 3: the bin with that, man, I love it.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Or tell me a bit more.
- 5:00Speaker 3: You mentioned you got a credit card at eighteen and
- 5:02Speaker 3: a four thousand dollar loan for a car, and I
- 5:04Speaker 3: feel like these are things that in people's money stories
- 5:08Speaker 3: can send you one of two ways, and it sounds
- 5:10Speaker 3: like it sent you down the route of just being
- 5:11Speaker 3: a really good saver. And you were like, I have
- 5:13Speaker 3: these financial responsibilities, I'm going to pay them off, and
- 5:15Speaker 3: you know, I've got a credit card and going to
- 5:17Speaker 3: pay that off monthly. Whereas some people go down that route,
- 5:21Speaker 3: get a credit card, end up in mass amounts of debt.
- 5:23Speaker 3: They might get a car loan of four grand and
- 5:24Speaker 3: then four grand turns into eight grand, and like things compound,
- 5:28Speaker 3: Where did you learn to save? Because being able to
- 5:30Speaker 3: save on a teacher's salary one hundred thousand dollars is
- 5:34Speaker 3: body impressive, but I also really want to learn from that.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I read The Barefoot Investor a while back, but
- 5:42Speaker 4: I think I've just been saving before then anyway, Like
- 5:44Speaker 4: I knew we're going to buy a block of land
- 5:47Speaker 4: and then we'd be paying in installments when you're building,
- 5:49Speaker 4: so I just wanted to have a buffer. I'd like
- 5:52Speaker 4: to say I'm as good at saving right now, but
- 5:54Speaker 4: it's changed a little bit with everything. Yeah, I don't
- 5:58Speaker 4: actually know where I got it from, to be honest,
- 6:00Speaker 4: because it wasn't spoken about. I think I just decided
- 6:04Speaker 4: to do it, and I saw that he, my partner
- 6:06Speaker 4: at the time, wasn't saving at all, so I made
- 6:10Speaker 4: sounds wrong if I save made But I got him
- 6:13Speaker 4: to contribute as well, so we were saving for it together.
- 6:16Speaker 4: And even though at at one hundred grand it was
- 6:19Speaker 4: probably like seventy thousand of it was mine, at least
- 6:23Speaker 4: I got him to save.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Yeah along the way, that's so good. I love that.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Now you've just mentioned in I guess the start of
- 6:31Speaker 3: your money story that you had your first partner, you
- 6:33Speaker 3: were with them for nine years, and then you got
- 6:35Speaker 3: with your high school sweetheart, which took me on an
- 6:37Speaker 3: absolute roller coaster, had a baby. But how did you
- 6:41Speaker 3: come out of both of those relationships financially stable?
- 6:45Speaker 4: So with the first one, we were engaged, we hadn't
- 6:49Speaker 4: lived together before, and I would not recommend that again,
- 6:54Speaker 4: but I just felt like it was a bit of
- 6:56Speaker 4: a controlling relationship, and I decided to end it, and
- 7:00Speaker 4: we decided that he would buy me out of the house.
- 7:03Speaker 4: So we kept negotiating back and forth, and yeah, I
- 7:07Speaker 4: walked away from it fairly well, it was still a loss,
- 7:09Speaker 4: but to walk away with seventy seven grand at the
- 7:12Speaker 4: end of it.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Okay, so it's kind of clean, but also probably not
- 7:16Speaker 3: taking into consideration too much else, yes, exactly.
- 7:20Speaker 4: And then I've paid off the thirty grand left owing
- 7:23Speaker 4: on my hex debt. I'd always been contributing, like the
- 7:25Speaker 4: voluntary contribution, Yeah, the contributions along the way, so it
- 7:29Speaker 4: wasn't too high. And then when I reconnected with my
- 7:33Speaker 4: high school sweetheart, we ended up going to America and
- 7:36Speaker 4: traveling a bit. We had separate accounts, so that was
- 7:39Speaker 4: all separate, but he put his on a credit card
- 7:42Speaker 4: and I didn't put.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Mine on a credit card. That's okay.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Yeah, And there were a few flags along the way.
- 7:48Speaker 4: So I found out, probably about I want to say,
- 7:54Speaker 4: twelve months in, that he had sixty grand worth of debt,
- 7:57Speaker 4: which I feel like now I would be saying that
- 8:00Speaker 4: at the very start of a relationship, like communicating upfront
- 8:03Speaker 4: about finances. So we decided that I would pay our
- 8:07Speaker 4: rent when we moved in together. I'd pay the rent,
- 8:09Speaker 4: I'd pay the utilities, and he just worked on paying
- 8:11Speaker 4: down the debt.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Okay, do you know what.
- 8:13Speaker 3: I think that a lot of people will go, what
- 8:15Speaker 3: the hell were you doing? Money, diarist, But if you're
- 8:18Speaker 3: reconnecting with somebody and you're like, I see future with
- 8:21Speaker 3: this person, you obviously trusted them enough to have an
- 8:23Speaker 3: actual child with them. I'm assuming that when that decision
- 8:27Speaker 3: was made, it was because you were going to be
- 8:29Speaker 3: life partners, not because you were going to, you know,
- 8:32Speaker 3: just let this man freeload off you, right exactly.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yeah, So what happened next We.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Rented two separate places together, and then we ended up
- 8:42Speaker 4: deciding when my daughter was three months old, that we
- 8:45Speaker 4: would move back in with my parents because building and
- 8:49Speaker 4: paying rent was just going to be an absolute fortune yep.
- 8:52Speaker 4: Because the block of land was also quite expensive.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Yep.
- 8:55Speaker 4: And then COVID happened and the building process slowed down,
- 8:59Speaker 4: so instead of being there for one year, we were
- 9:01Speaker 4: there for three. It was very trying, but we both
- 9:04Speaker 4: had jobs where he could leave the house. I think
- 9:07Speaker 4: he probably would have ventured a lot sooner if he
- 9:09Speaker 4: wasn't able to leave the house.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Yep.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Fair being with the endless. Yeah, but I get on
- 9:14Speaker 4: with my parents really well, and it's great having a
- 9:16Speaker 4: support network takes a village. Yeah, and then we moved
- 9:22Speaker 4: into our place in November twenty twenty two, and then
- 9:26Speaker 4: we were in here for about six months, and Yeah,
- 9:29Speaker 4: it got to like May, and she said that he
- 9:33Speaker 4: wanted a divorce and there was no talking about it.
- 9:37Speaker 4: I go into a marriage believing that you tried to
- 9:40Speaker 4: make it work, like you might go to therapy or
- 9:42Speaker 4: like you hash it out. So I was a bit
- 9:46Speaker 4: taken aback by that.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Obviously, did you know the whole circumstance, like as to
- 9:50Speaker 3: why he was no okay? So that would have taken
- 9:53Speaker 3: you even more by I guess chance you would have
- 9:56Speaker 3: been like, well, what the hell, like, can't we work
- 9:58Speaker 3: on this?
- 9:58Speaker 1: And he in the backgrounds like, no, I have a
- 10:00Speaker 1: new family.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Prest too much. It was like total blindsight.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, my whole heart.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Oh oh look, I'm so happy now.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Oh yeah he's out, he's canceled. We don't care about
- 10:14Speaker 3: this man, No, absolutely not. How did you then find
- 10:16Speaker 3: out somebody else was involved?
- 10:18Speaker 4: So it was fun. There are a few different things.
- 10:22Speaker 4: So he actually brought her up to me because we
- 10:25Speaker 4: were cohabitating still. Yeah, for I think it was like
- 10:28Speaker 4: two months after Yeah, because the first reason he'd given
- 10:31Speaker 4: was just that he was finding himself. He hadn't felt
- 10:34Speaker 4: like himself since he was twelve. I was like, okay,
- 10:37Speaker 4: that's news to me. He'd had depression, but he hadn't
- 10:39Speaker 4: medicated for it, and he just started taking these tablets
- 10:42Speaker 4: and said, you know what, I've started taking the tablets
- 10:45Speaker 4: and now I feel nothing for you. I was like, wow, okay,
- 10:48Speaker 4: well how about we go back to the doctor and.
- 10:50Speaker 1: We talked to our doctor because that's not normal, right.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Yeah, let's not give up on a marriage.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:56Speaker 4: And then a couple of weeks later he mentioned her
- 11:00Speaker 4: and okay, that sounds really soon, and yeah, it wasn't great.
- 11:06Speaker 4: He was basically going to her house on the weekends,
- 11:09Speaker 4: and then because his car was broken, he was parking
- 11:11Speaker 4: her car out the front of her house because she
- 11:13Speaker 4: had two vehicles so he could use one of hers,
- 11:16Speaker 4: and I was just like, you need to leave this house,
- 11:18Speaker 4: like this is toxic. We were really good in front
- 11:21Speaker 4: of our daughter, like yeah, there was no swearing, carrying
- 11:23Speaker 4: on or anything, but it hurt a lot. Like every
- 11:26Speaker 4: time to see her car out the front of our house,
- 11:29Speaker 4: I was like, how is this happening? It was really surreal.
- 11:32Speaker 1: That's wild. What a douchebag.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm so glad you're out of that circumstance. You
- 11:39Speaker 3: deserve so much better. But it blows my mind, like
- 11:41Speaker 3: the male audacity, like I've supported you, like I've gotten
- 11:46Speaker 3: you out of debt, Like he's probably still in debt.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Let's be honest, because I know he is.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go exactly, Like do you know what,
- 11:53Speaker 3: He's one of the few people that deserves it. Yeah,
- 11:58Speaker 3: my monkey is all right, tell me a little bit
- 12:00Speaker 3: more about you, less about him. I want to know
- 12:02Speaker 3: what do you do for work? How much money do
- 12:04Speaker 3: you earn? Yeah?
- 12:05Speaker 4: So I am a Grade five teacher and I earned
- 12:09Speaker 4: just under one hundred and fourteen K a year, including super.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Oh that's good.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I've been teaching for ten years, so yeap deserved.
- 12:18Speaker 4: And I started renting out the house on Airbnb. So
- 12:22Speaker 4: I've made about thirty five k on Airbnb and then
- 12:25Speaker 4: the rest of the other four grand was made up
- 12:27Speaker 4: from booking dot Com, which I decided to also do.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Yeah, go hard to go home. I love you.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Tell me a bit about that.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Though, because I'm interested in just understanding how airbnb works,
- 12:38Speaker 3: because I feel like in the media at the moment,
- 12:39Speaker 3: especially over the last few weeks, and I know you're
- 12:41Speaker 3: in Victoria, but we've been talking a lot about this
- 12:45Speaker 3: introduction of the seven and a half percent airbnb tax.
- 12:49Speaker 1: What are your takes on that? How does that all work?
- 12:52Speaker 4: It definitely makes an impact. Like already I'm paying tax
- 12:56Speaker 4: for the first time this year. Normally you get tax back.
- 12:58Speaker 4: That's not chance for me out all this here and
- 13:01Speaker 4: having that extra seven point five percent with it come in,
- 13:05Speaker 4: it's probably not looking viable to keep going with it.
- 13:09Speaker 4: To be honest, I would rather either sell the house
- 13:12Speaker 4: or rent it out permanently because it is like having
- 13:15Speaker 4: two jobs, Like because I clean up myself.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go package. So I want to ask
- 13:21Speaker 3: a bit more about it. Because this Airbnb tax of
- 13:24Speaker 3: seven and a half percent is being introduced in the
- 13:27Speaker 3: hopes that it will free up more long term rentals
- 13:30Speaker 3: from short term rentals. What does that actually look like
- 13:34Speaker 3: for you? Would this mean that you can afford to
- 13:36Speaker 3: rent it out to people at a reasonable amount or
- 13:39Speaker 3: you know you mentioned before. I think I might have
- 13:40Speaker 3: to sell it like that defeats the purpose from my perspective.
- 13:45Speaker 4: I have a high mortgage. I would rather be able
- 13:48Speaker 4: to save a lot more, and I know that I
- 13:50Speaker 4: won't be able to meet the mortgage with just the
- 13:54Speaker 4: rental income. That's not going to happen.
- 13:56Speaker 1: No, absolutely not.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, So I think it's a bit tricky. Obviously,
- 14:02Speaker 4: you can't time the market. So I will either rent
- 14:05Speaker 4: it out for twelve fourteen months and then see what
- 14:10Speaker 4: the market's like, maybe rented out for another year, or
- 14:13Speaker 4: I'll try and list it. I haven't decided yet, but
- 14:15Speaker 4: I'm going to make the final call, probably December or January.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that's fair. Anyway, let's move on from that. I
- 14:21Speaker 3: feel like that's really exciting. You've bought a house, like
- 14:24Speaker 3: you still own a house, but what's your big money goal?
- 14:26Speaker 3: What are you currently working towards?
- 14:28Speaker 4: Big money goal at the moment is to actually get
- 14:30Speaker 4: my mortgage to start with a seven, not an eight.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Yep, that feels nice. That will take some pressure off.
- 14:35Speaker 4: Well, I'm very close to doing that now it's sitting
- 14:38Speaker 4: at eight hundred and six. But then you obviously get
- 14:41Speaker 4: the mortgage interest payments and then it's like, oh and
- 14:44Speaker 4: now we're back to eight ten. Yeah, but that's one
- 14:47Speaker 4: of my big money goals. And then next would be
- 14:50Speaker 4: investing more. I've started to, but I want to get
- 14:53Speaker 4: into it a lot more than I am and do
- 14:54Speaker 4: it consistently.
- 14:55Speaker 1: What would that look like?
- 14:56Speaker 4: So at the moment, I have some automatic payments set up,
- 14:59Speaker 4: I don't have them for investing. So my treats to
- 15:03Speaker 4: myself when our financial agreement was all done was two
- 15:08Speaker 4: bioshares in my own name.
- 15:10Speaker 1: So I did that, Koween. How did you buy those?
- 15:13Speaker 4: I did it through IBKR, it's interactive brokers.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:16Speaker 4: I got onto them through my brother, who's obsessed with
- 15:20Speaker 4: Tesla and investing and things like that.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Helpful person to have in your life.
- 15:24Speaker 4: Yeah, he's good with economics and everything. So I went
- 15:28Speaker 4: to him for advice on that one. And also I
- 15:31Speaker 4: don't know, like the last twelve months has been a
- 15:33Speaker 4: roller coaster and.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Actually understandably so.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Yeah, paying the lawyer fees which actually went as higher
- 15:39Speaker 4: compared to other stories I've heard, yeah, recently. But getting
- 15:43Speaker 4: the house in my name was a very stressful event.
- 15:47Speaker 4: I was very lucky my dad actually helped me with that.
- 15:51Speaker 4: So my ex and I came to an agreement. He
- 15:53Speaker 4: wanted one hundred grand to get out of the property,
- 15:56Speaker 4: and I obviously didn't have a fare hundred grand in
- 15:59Speaker 4: my back pockets. So my dad gifted me fifty grand,
- 16:05Speaker 4: which I know is total privileged.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Yeah, but also like I'm so glad you had access
- 16:10Speaker 1: to that.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Yeah, And the other fifty grand was made up of
- 16:13Speaker 4: basically he never has to pay child support ever. Again,
- 16:16Speaker 4: like we looked at wages and I know, like the
- 16:19Speaker 4: assessments changed constantly, but him owning his own small business,
- 16:24Speaker 4: it was going to be hard to chase him up
- 16:26Speaker 4: for payments regardless.
- 16:27Speaker 3: I'm just being judgy because I don't like what he's
- 16:30Speaker 3: done to you, Like, sorry, your money, darst.
- 16:33Speaker 1: We're basically best. He's now dirty. I hate him. He's
- 16:36Speaker 1: cut he's done. No, you don't deserve this.
- 16:38Speaker 4: Yeah, And basically I got the house put in my
- 16:41Speaker 4: name a week before interest rates went up, and it
- 16:43Speaker 4: was the timing was insane, like I wouldn't have been
- 16:48Speaker 4: able to get across the line.
- 16:49Speaker 3: No, absolutely not like it got in. But also it
- 16:51Speaker 3: felt like a kick in the darts. But you also
- 16:53Speaker 3: wouldn't have got it put into your name if it
- 16:55Speaker 3: hadn't happened at that point in time.
- 16:57Speaker 1: The world is a funny place to live.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Yeah, it was ents.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 17:02Speaker 3: All right, well let's go to a really quick break
- 17:03Speaker 3: because on the flip side, I actually want to ask
- 17:05Speaker 3: you a few more questions about IBK and how you're
- 17:08Speaker 3: investing and what the future of that looks like. Don't
- 17:10Speaker 3: go anywhere, guys. All right, money diarist, we are back,
- 17:18Speaker 3: and I want to talk more about investments less about
- 17:21Speaker 3: your Dogyx. Although I feel like it's interesting when we
- 17:26Speaker 3: have these conversations, especially because it's so fresh, like it's
- 17:29Speaker 3: so part of your money conversation and your money story,
- 17:32Speaker 3: and I really want to, you know, even ask more
- 17:34Speaker 3: about this child support stuff you mentioned before.
- 17:37Speaker 1: But let's go with investments. First.
- 17:39Speaker 3: You mentioned you're investing with IBKR. What amount did you invest?
- 17:44Speaker 3: What's the plan there? You mentioned you don't have anything automated, Like,
- 17:48Speaker 3: at what point will you do that? Because it sounds
- 17:51Speaker 3: like you're probably doing absolutely fine, but given the Airbnb
- 17:55Speaker 3: tax and your tax is coming up soon and interest rates,
- 17:59Speaker 3: I'm assuming like money isn't the easiest thing in the
- 18:01Speaker 3: entire world right now, and it's a bit of a
- 18:03Speaker 3: juggling act.
- 18:04Speaker 4: One hundred percent. Yeah, and I feel like I knew
- 18:07Speaker 4: that i'd be paying tax, but at the same time,
- 18:10Speaker 4: I don't think I put enough away, And so at
- 18:13Speaker 4: the moment, I'm actually using one of your money hacks,
- 18:16Speaker 4: the ten K save up one oh adore to make
- 18:19Speaker 4: sure I've got that sitting there. Four taps.
- 18:21Speaker 3: I need to rebrand them so they're even fancier for
- 18:24Speaker 3: your fridge as they're great.
- 18:27Speaker 4: So the first thing I wanted to do was literally
- 18:30Speaker 4: specifically by Tesla shares. So I have four of those,
- 18:35Speaker 4: and I have four shares in AMD as well. So
- 18:39Speaker 4: at the moment, it's sitting at two point five k
- 18:42Speaker 4: in investments. I used to look at it every single day.
- 18:45Speaker 4: Right now I don't listening to the podcast. I'm just
- 18:48Speaker 4: like no, let it sit there. It's fine. It's not
- 18:50Speaker 4: a loss unless you've sold for a loss. Yeah, but
- 18:53Speaker 4: I think I would like to automate it so that
- 18:54Speaker 4: pretty much every pay cycle some of it's going into
- 18:57Speaker 4: that platform, so that I can invest it straight away.
- 19:00Speaker 4: And I want to diversify it more and look into ETFs.
- 19:03Speaker 4: That would be a goal.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Now you mentioned you're invested in AMD. Is that on
- 19:09Speaker 3: the Australian Stock Exchange or is that an American stock exchange?
- 19:13Speaker 4: Americansges?
- 19:14Speaker 3: Okay, So tell me what AMD is because here in
- 19:16Speaker 3: Australia AMD is Arrow Minerals and I'm very confused as
- 19:21Speaker 3: to why you would buy Arrow Minerals and Tesla, Like
- 19:24Speaker 3: those ethics aren't ethicching for me right now? I was like, no,
- 19:28Speaker 3: that doesn't make sense, Like that story doesn't check out.
- 19:30Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure AMD is something else.
- 19:33Speaker 4: No, AMD is different. My brother got me into it.
- 19:37Speaker 4: He'd already made like twenty k and AMD shays and
- 19:41Speaker 4: that helped him to put a deposit on his first property.
- 19:44Speaker 4: I don't actually know much about them. It's like microchips,
- 19:47Speaker 4: like computer chips and things.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've looked it up. It's advanced micro
- 19:51Speaker 3: devices and they do a lot of quote cutting edge
- 19:54Speaker 3: AI data centers, business computing solutions, and gaming with AMD processes.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Yes, that's it.
- 20:02Speaker 1: That's why I love that, and I love that.
- 20:04Speaker 3: I guess you've got someone in on that that's probably
- 20:06Speaker 3: done all of the research into flow.
- 20:08Speaker 1: And you're like, you know what, I would just ride
- 20:10Speaker 1: this wave with you. I trust you. This makes sense.
- 20:13Speaker 4: Yeah, the amount of spreadsheets my brother has is crazy.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I've probably got along with him.
- 20:17Speaker 3: He sounds like a good boy if he likes spreadsheets
- 20:19Speaker 3: ten out of ten. I want to talk about debt.
- 20:22Speaker 3: You mentioned before that your mortgage starts with an eighth rite.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Now you drop to the number like eight ten, you
- 20:28Speaker 3: want to get it down to seven hundred. But can
- 20:30Speaker 3: you give me a little bit more info? One, do
- 20:32Speaker 3: you have any other debts?
- 20:33Speaker 1: But two? What's your house worth?
- 20:36Speaker 4: Like?
- 20:36Speaker 3: When did you purchase it? All of the nitty gritty
- 20:38Speaker 3: so we can understand where it's standing.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Yeah, so at the moment, it's valued at one point two.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Oh nice for some Yeah.
- 20:47Speaker 4: I think realistically it's more like one to one point one.
- 20:51Speaker 4: But it's nice because, yeah, then you've got the equity
- 20:53Speaker 4: if you need it. But yeah, at the moment, it's
- 20:55Speaker 4: eight hundred and six.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Owing on it.
- 20:58Speaker 4: So my mortgage is about four and a half a month,
- 21:01Speaker 4: which is a lot.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Yes, that is a lot, but I mean you're sitting
- 21:05Speaker 3: on what nearly four hundred thousand dollars worth of equity,
- 21:09Speaker 3: so that is nice.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Yeah, not too shabby.
- 21:12Speaker 1: How does fitting that mortgage repayment into your salary go?
- 21:16Speaker 1: Is it tied?
- 21:17Speaker 3: Is it something that you're like, yep, that works? Like
- 21:19Speaker 3: what's that looking like at the moment?
- 21:21Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not tight, but it's it's not as good
- 21:23Speaker 4: as it was last year based on all the rate increases.
- 21:27Speaker 4: So I pay fortnightly. I get paid fortnightly as well,
- 21:31Speaker 4: so it just comes out then I don't see it,
- 21:33Speaker 4: and I'm left with about nine hundred the next day
- 21:37Speaker 4: after my mortgage comes out. Yeah, and then obviously I'm
- 21:40Speaker 4: also paying the bills for the house, and I contribute
- 21:44Speaker 4: a third towards bills at my parents' house, so there's
- 21:48Speaker 4: always bills coming in. Yeah.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Do you have any other personal debt?
- 21:53Speaker 4: No? None.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Before the break you said, hey, I let my ex
- 21:58Speaker 3: partner Douche canoe boy, have you know the fifty grand?
- 22:01Speaker 3: And now he doesn't have to pay child support. How's
- 22:04Speaker 3: that playing into effect? Like is that good financial decision?
- 22:08Speaker 3: Is it a bad financial decision? Like is it something
- 22:11Speaker 3: that you're like, I don't care, I just want to
- 22:13Speaker 3: get rid of him. But what does that look like?
- 22:15Speaker 4: Basically, while she's at kindy still, he will contribute a
- 22:19Speaker 4: third of her kindy costs, So he contributes about two
- 22:23Speaker 4: hundred dollars a month for those That's nice.
- 22:26Speaker 3: I didn't realize children were so cheap, Like, I'm having
- 22:28Speaker 3: one soon. If it's only going to cost me what
- 22:30Speaker 3: like six hundred dollars a month and money win, Like,
- 22:33Speaker 3: that's a good deal.
- 22:34Speaker 1: She goes like.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Three days a week and we've got family that help
- 22:37Speaker 4: on other days, which is great. And when you've got
- 22:40Speaker 4: the government childcare subsidy as well, it cuts it down.
- 22:43Speaker 4: So but then once she starts school next to you,
- 22:45Speaker 4: that will stop. And basically we just agreed that, like
- 22:49Speaker 4: if there's huge medical costs or anything like the excursions
- 22:53Speaker 4: or camps, we will go fifty to fifty yep. But
- 22:56Speaker 4: besides that, Yeah, he doesn't have to pay any child's port.
- 23:00Speaker 4: I got the house up at the end of the day.
- 23:01Speaker 3: I'm not You're like, I am actually the winner here
- 23:04Speaker 3: because there's a cheeky nearly four hundred thousand dollars worth
- 23:07Speaker 3: of equity in there, and that cost you one hundred grand,
- 23:09Speaker 3: So like that's a money win. Is that also because
- 23:13Speaker 3: he earns a different amount like you said earlier in
- 23:15Speaker 3: the episode, you're one hundred and fourteen k including souper,
- 23:19Speaker 3: Is he earning a similar amount or less or what
- 23:22Speaker 3: does that look like to make that make sense.
- 23:25Speaker 4: I don't know what his finances look like now, Like
- 23:28Speaker 4: I do get the assessment but comes back, but I
- 23:31Speaker 4: don't know how accurate that assessment actually is because he's
- 23:34Speaker 4: not one to do his taxes right on time or anything.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Yeah tooke, I love this.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Yeah, turn out of ten red flag, red flag, crimson flag.
- 23:44Speaker 1: There's multiple of them.
- 23:45Speaker 3: I thought it meant that there was a party, so
- 23:47Speaker 3: I was interested.
- 23:49Speaker 1: So many flags, so much fun.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Yeah, he was earning about ninety K when we were together,
- 23:55Speaker 4: and then he gave his job in wanted to work
- 23:58Speaker 4: full time, be his own boss, so that went right
- 24:01Speaker 4: down to forty grand straight away. And it was going
- 24:04Speaker 4: to be very tight, like I think I heard from
- 24:07Speaker 4: child support, and it was going to be basically sixty
- 24:09Speaker 4: dollars a week.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, not worth it. I'll take the house, thank you.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Yeah exactly.
- 24:13Speaker 4: I was like, you're kidding, And that ended up literally
- 24:17Speaker 4: just being shy of fifty grand until she's eighteen.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, that's fair.
- 24:21Speaker 3: And when it comes to I guess actual childcare, do
- 24:24Speaker 3: you have her fifty to fifty or is that more
- 24:27Speaker 3: your primary care giver?
- 24:28Speaker 4: Because of that, I am the primary care giver.
- 24:31Speaker 1: I'm not surprised to his credit.
- 24:33Speaker 4: I think he's actually been a better father since the separation.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Yeah, because there's like not that many lies that you're
- 24:39Speaker 1: hiding now, sir.
- 24:41Speaker 4: Yeah, that was like the hardest part. When he said
- 24:44Speaker 4: he wanted a divorce. I was like, I can't see
- 24:47Speaker 4: my child fifty fifty No. Absolutely, then, yeah, especially when
- 24:50Speaker 4: like I know that I did like ninety five percent.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Of the work with her exactly.
- 24:54Speaker 4: He was totally fine to sign off on seventy five
- 24:57Speaker 4: percent for me and twenty five for him, And that
- 24:59Speaker 4: was when we were doing all the finances in the settlement.
- 25:02Speaker 4: And then he's wanted more time with her, yep, and
- 25:06Speaker 4: I don't want to keep her from him. We balance
- 25:08Speaker 4: it pretty good. He has her three nights one week,
- 25:11Speaker 4: two nights.
- 25:12Speaker 1: The following week. Okay, that seems like a good balance.
- 25:15Speaker 3: And to be honest, as a single mum, it might
- 25:17Speaker 3: be nice as much as we love our kids and
- 25:19Speaker 3: want them around all the time, like just having a
- 25:21Speaker 3: bit of breathing room might be a nice thing, right, Yeah.
- 25:24Speaker 4: It's true. My partner and I like, he's also got
- 25:28Speaker 4: a child, so we can match up the weekend.
- 25:30Speaker 1: It's weesome. Tell me, I want to be pervy. You've
- 25:33Speaker 1: got a new partner.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Yeah, it's still fairly new. We're five months in.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Yeah, but if you've got kids, I feel like people
- 25:40Speaker 3: with kids take things more seriously because they're like, I'm
- 25:42Speaker 3: not going to get kids involved unless this woman's legit.
- 25:46Speaker 1: So that's a good thing.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Yeah, just met her.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Oh, I'm so excited for you. All right.
- 25:53Speaker 3: I want to know, let's keep on with the episode.
- 25:55Speaker 3: I keep getting railroaded.
- 25:57Speaker 1: I want to know, what is your best money habit,
- 26:00Speaker 1: best money.
- 26:00Speaker 4: To have it? I would say using shot back has
- 26:04Speaker 4: saved me about four hundred and fifty dollars.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Four hundred and fifty bucks.
- 26:08Speaker 4: Yeah, like buying a mattress, and like the extra would
- 26:12Speaker 4: go from shot back and you're just like, Wow, Like
- 26:14Speaker 4: being purchases money has really helped. Yeah, but even like
- 26:17Speaker 4: the small ones as well, Like if I'm shopping at
- 26:20Speaker 4: the iconic the.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Dress I'm wearing today, I got so much cash back
- 26:23Speaker 3: on money in it was basically free.
- 26:26Speaker 4: And you should buy the voucher and then also get
- 26:29Speaker 4: shot back as well.
- 26:30Speaker 1: See, you're a genius.
- 26:32Speaker 4: I only last it from you.
- 26:35Speaker 1: That's why I'm calling your a genius. I'm like, who
- 26:36Speaker 1: would come up with that idea?
- 26:38Speaker 4: Wow?
- 26:38Speaker 1: Crazy exactly.
- 26:41Speaker 4: I also use like the seven eleven fuel.
- 26:42Speaker 3: App as Oh my gosh, I'm obsessed with the seven
- 26:44Speaker 3: eleven fuel app.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Do you like fuel lock or are you.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Looking at like the sandwich prices, because like the other
- 26:49Speaker 3: day they sent me a notification they were like, all
- 26:52Speaker 3: our sandwiches are four dollars for the week, and I
- 26:54Speaker 3: was like, excuse me, that's such a good deal. So
- 26:56Speaker 3: I had seven eleven sandwiches for an entire week for lunch.
- 26:59Speaker 1: I'm not mad.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Mine's just for the fuel lock at the moment, but
- 27:02Speaker 4: that's a good saving there with the sandwiches.
- 27:04Speaker 3: How often do you check your fuel lock? Are you
- 27:06Speaker 3: like rechecking it seeing if there's anywhere cheaper?
- 27:09Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I have been, but I tend to lock
- 27:12Speaker 4: it in like probably like a Tuesday or Wednesday, and.
- 27:15Speaker 1: That's when the fuel's the best price.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Yes, exactly. And then some areas are just always cheaper
- 27:20Speaker 4: than others, So I'll lock it in when I'm at
- 27:22Speaker 4: home compared to my partner's place because it's just cheaper
- 27:25Speaker 4: out my way.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:26Speaker 3: For those of you who don't know what we're talking about,
- 27:28Speaker 3: like when you go on the app, it only shows
- 27:30Speaker 3: you the five seven eleven's closest to you. So like
- 27:33Speaker 3: when my husband's driving and we're driving through different locations,
- 27:36Speaker 3: I like to get to see if it changes and
- 27:39Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, got that one. Like it's like the
- 27:41Speaker 3: adult version of you remember the Pokemon game.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like that, but better.
- 27:49Speaker 3: You would save the actual money and you look, that's
- 27:51Speaker 3: crazy exactly.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Like that show was like two dollars thirty last week
- 27:55Speaker 4: and I got it for a dollar eighty nine.
- 27:56Speaker 3: I'm like money, wait behavior, And it's not even the
- 27:59Speaker 3: money win. It's like that sense of grandeur that you get.
- 28:02Speaker 3: You're like I am so good, Like I'm basically a genius.
- 28:07Speaker 4: That's great.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I adore it. I do want to bring the mood
- 28:10Speaker 1: down though, what's your worst money habit?
- 28:13Speaker 4: Worst when I have it with the I think budgeting.
- 28:16Speaker 4: So even though my brother's great with spreadsheets, I'm not.
- 28:20Speaker 4: So I think being consistent with a budget. And it
- 28:23Speaker 4: also makes it a bit tricky because like when you've
- 28:25Speaker 4: got Airbnb and booking dot com, it's like getting paid
- 28:28Speaker 4: multiple times in a week.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Or it's hard to track.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Hey, yeah, well I've got like a separate bank account
- 28:33Speaker 4: just for the AIRBNBA.
- 28:35Speaker 3: I was going to say, do you have separate banking
- 28:37Speaker 3: Please tell me you do to be track of it.
- 28:38Speaker 4: Good queen, Yep, I'll end up not being consistent enough.
- 28:44Speaker 4: I use up bank and so I have different savers.
- 28:48Speaker 4: But I just feel like I need to set up
- 28:49Speaker 4: more automatic payments. But because it's so variable with how
- 28:52Speaker 4: much money comes in each week with the Airbnb, yeah,
- 28:56Speaker 4: sometimes consistent.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Yeah yeah no.
- 28:59Speaker 3: And you said before that you get paid fortnightly, so
- 29:02Speaker 3: you're dealing with that on a relatively short timeframe. So
- 29:05Speaker 3: I'm assuming that, like projecting is something that you don't
- 29:08Speaker 3: do a lot of.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:09Speaker 3: No, So like if Rederick comes up, do you find
- 29:11Speaker 3: yourself in a bit of a mad scramble being like
- 29:13Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, red Ro's up.
- 29:13Speaker 1: But I feel like I paid this last week.
- 29:15Speaker 4: I'm not so bad with that.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Oh that's me. Yeah, two thousand percent me.
- 29:20Speaker 4: No, I do it, like, yeah, the four installments are
- 29:22Speaker 4: year yeah.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Smart for the REGI.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's not too much of a shock. I
- 29:26Speaker 4: know it's going to be in October, so I know
- 29:28Speaker 4: it's coming, and I'm starting to get my emergency fund up.
- 29:33Speaker 4: I need that to be better. That would be something
- 29:35Speaker 4: to work on.
- 29:36Speaker 3: See, I need to learn from you because I bought
- 29:39Speaker 3: my car back in like twenty ten. It was November,
- 29:42Speaker 3: just before Christmas, and I paid my REGRO at that
- 29:45Speaker 3: point in time and my insurance and now for the
- 29:48Speaker 3: last ten plus years I have been screwed every single
- 29:51Speaker 3: November with getting my REDRO. I'm in full because I'm like, oh,
- 29:55Speaker 3: I don't want to break it up, like I may
- 29:56Speaker 3: as well just pay it. And then straight after I've
- 29:58Speaker 3: paid it, they're like, oh, by the way, your insurance
- 30:00Speaker 3: has gone up because your car really sucks and you
- 30:03Speaker 3: need a new one.
- 30:04Speaker 1: But I haven't let go of it.
- 30:05Speaker 3: So I get REGI and insurance in the same month,
- 30:08Speaker 3: and I mean I do cash flow it don't worry guys, Like,
- 30:10Speaker 3: I'm not that bad, but it still hurts.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Like even if I've got the money, I don't want
- 30:13Speaker 1: to give you the money, you know.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely, Like my car insurance is due at the
- 30:18Speaker 4: same time as my house insurance.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Yeah, isn't it a joke.
- 30:21Speaker 3: It's almost like you set everything up and like did
- 30:23Speaker 3: like this financial health check and like cleanse and then
- 30:26Speaker 3: all of a sudden, this one month just becomes financial
- 30:30Speaker 3: get screwed month.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Like that's what it feels like. Let's be honest.
- 30:35Speaker 3: Yeah, what do you think you could do to be
- 30:37Speaker 3: better at budgeting? Like is it about forecasting? Is it
- 30:40Speaker 3: planning or what would that look like?
- 30:42Speaker 4: Yeah? I think it is like I know that the
- 30:44Speaker 4: big ones that are coming up, Like I know my
- 30:46Speaker 4: rates that you're in February, and I pay them annually
- 30:48Speaker 4: because I'd rather just do one big.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Hit even though you hit No. I totally get it.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Yeah, but also yeah, like budgeting, I was doing the
- 30:56Speaker 4: Glenn James spreadsheet, but I just feel like I haven't
- 30:59Speaker 4: gone back to it, and I need to do that.
- 31:02Speaker 1: I love Glenn James, He's one of my best friends.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Let's be honest.
- 31:05Speaker 3: I think If you're in the She's on the Money community,
- 31:07Speaker 3: you know that Glenn James runs my Millennial Money, which
- 31:10Speaker 3: should be my biggest competitor, but he's basically one of
- 31:12Speaker 3: my greatest friends.
- 31:13Speaker 1: But I'm going to one up him.
- 31:15Speaker 3: I'm going to gift you my Budget and cash Flow
- 31:17Speaker 3: master Class because it's more automated than Glenn's.
- 31:20Speaker 4: I'm secretly hoping you would.
- 31:22Speaker 1: I really I love this. Do you know what it worked?
- 31:24Speaker 4: You got me and manifested it.
- 31:26Speaker 1: So I love this.
- 31:27Speaker 3: I'm going to gift you the Money master Class because
- 31:29Speaker 3: I feel like it will take it to the next
- 31:31Speaker 3: level and like help you project. But it also tells
- 31:33Speaker 3: you where to put things in different accounts without you
- 31:37Speaker 3: having to like redo it yourself. Like all you have
- 31:39Speaker 3: to do is tell me what your expenses are and
- 31:41Speaker 3: then it will spit out like a beautiful pie chart
- 31:44Speaker 3: and be like, well, this is how you're spending. This
- 31:45Speaker 3: is what it looks like. Also, these are the accounts
- 31:47Speaker 3: you need to put that money into. And it's got
- 31:50Speaker 3: like separate incomes, so you could put your Airbnb income
- 31:54Speaker 3: and like change that and see what each month looks
- 31:56Speaker 3: like or each fortnite looks like. Because you can change
- 31:58Speaker 3: it all, but I think that that will change it.
- 32:00Speaker 3: I love that you manifested it, and you're like, I
- 32:02Speaker 3: really want it, I really want it.
- 32:04Speaker 1: No, adore it.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Let's also give the community a little bonus while I'm here.
- 32:07Speaker 1: I will set up a code.
- 32:09Speaker 3: It will be POD fifty and it will give you
- 32:11Speaker 3: fifty bucks off the money masterclass, so you can do
- 32:13Speaker 3: it alongside our money diarists. I feel like that's a
- 32:16Speaker 3: good one. I'm glad you manifested that, but I adore you,
- 32:19Speaker 3: Glenn James. But I also spent nine months building a
- 32:22Speaker 3: spreadsheet that would just do the work for my community
- 32:25Speaker 3: instead of them having to do it.
- 32:26Speaker 1: And I think that's the hardest part, right.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Like we can all sit down and write out our
- 32:30Speaker 3: budgets and that's very sexy, but then we put it
- 32:33Speaker 3: to the side and don't think about it, like I
- 32:35Speaker 3: need you to tell me how much do I need
- 32:37Speaker 3: to transfer every single week or every single fortnight to
- 32:40Speaker 3: that account or I automate that and then it'll work
- 32:43Speaker 3: for you and then all you have to do is
- 32:44Speaker 3: maybe like check in once a month, then go oh well,
- 32:47Speaker 3: actually airbnbing come looked different or it looked the same
- 32:50Speaker 3: or it looked less like I feel like that will
- 32:52Speaker 3: potentially work a bit better for you also because you're
- 32:55Speaker 3: really busy.
- 32:57Speaker 4: Yes, I am, Oh for sure.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I love this. I feel like I'm so inspired by
- 33:01Speaker 1: your story.
- 33:01Speaker 3: Like I'm so sorry that your ex was a douche canoe,
- 33:06Speaker 3: but that's okay. I feel like you've moved on and
- 33:08Speaker 3: it sounds like you're really happy in this new relationship
- 33:11Speaker 3: and that makes my whole heart so happy. But it
- 33:14Speaker 3: sounds like you've achieved for a lot and you're young,
- 33:16Speaker 3: and that is crazy to me. So I want to know,
- 33:19Speaker 3: now that we've had a chat, what grade would you
- 33:21Speaker 3: give your money habits? Would it still be a B minus?
- 33:25Speaker 3: Would you change it? If not, that's okay, But how
- 33:28Speaker 3: would we get to an A plus?
- 33:29Speaker 4: I think, yeah, B minus to a bee maybe a B.
- 33:33Speaker 4: I think what I want to do going forward to
- 33:36Speaker 4: get to that A would be definitely diversifying more and
- 33:39Speaker 4: getting more into investing. And also I want to start
- 33:42Speaker 4: contributing water super Yeah, my soup is pretty healthy at
- 33:45Speaker 4: the moment, is at one hundred and four.
- 33:47Speaker 1: K, which is very pretty good for my age.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Yeah, but I only had six months off with my
- 33:51Speaker 4: daughter so yeah, actually contributing extra towards that great. Yeah,
- 33:56Speaker 4: I don't want to be teaching when i'm sixty.
- 33:58Speaker 1: I love that. I feel like that.
- 34:00Speaker 3: It's a really good plan. But I also need to
- 34:01Speaker 3: remind you, Money Diarist, you are a single mum. You
- 34:04Speaker 3: are killing it, but you're also a single mom, so
- 34:06Speaker 3: take the pressure off. We don't need to be doing
- 34:08Speaker 3: everything at once, like even the fact that you are
- 34:11Speaker 3: a homeowner and you've got a really nice amount of equity.
- 34:14Speaker 3: I'm just I'm so excited for your future because it's
- 34:16Speaker 3: going to be good, and I promise the path that
- 34:19Speaker 3: you're on, you're not going to be teaching a sixty
- 34:20Speaker 3: so or be fine.
- 34:21Speaker 1: You will live your dreams. But unfortunately, Money direst, this
- 34:26Speaker 1: is we have time for today.
- 34:27Speaker 3: It's all we could fit into our half an hour
- 34:29Speaker 3: organized slot. It has been a pleasure getting to know you,
- 34:33Speaker 3: and thank you so much for being so generous with
- 34:35Speaker 3: your story and sharing so much. I know that our
- 34:37Speaker 3: community loves learning and loves getting to know our diarists,
- 34:41Speaker 3: so I really appreciate it.
- 34:42Speaker 4: Thanks so much for having me.
