- 0:36OK, so autism and sleeping difficulties.
- 0:38Now, girls in the autism spectrum are no exception to
- 0:41this rule. Autism comes with a bunch of
- 0:43other stuff. Autism creates the ability for
- 0:45your mind to run at 1000 miles an hour.
- 0:46If your mind is going at 1000 miles an hour, how on earth are
- 0:49you ever going to keep up right now if you're not able to keep
- 0:51up with your mind, if you're not able to do those things where
- 0:54you feel like, oh, I can do this now to relax.
- 0:56I can do that to to stay awake. You know, all of those things
- 1:00encompassed in a specific environment cause emotional
- 1:05deregulation and also sleeping issues.
- 1:07And what I mean by this is very, very simple.
- 1:09If you're a female on the ultimate spectrum and you are
- 1:12trying to be the most productive in your day, you're going around
- 1:14your day and you are just killing it.
- 1:16You do all these tasks, your mind is active and you're
- 1:17keeping that dopamine high. Just go on through these tasks
- 1:20and he managed to do all your lists, news, all these hackers
- 1:23and these apps to get through everything.
- 1:24And then at the end of the night, you close your eyes and
- 1:26try to sleep. It's not going to happen.
- 1:28You would just spend the entire day kicking ass and now you're
- 1:31like, OK, brain, calm down doesn't happen.
- 1:33You need to create an environment where you start to
- 1:37calm yourself down in order to that you can then go to sleep.
- 1:40You know, it's kind of like saying it's like having an
- 1:43airplane stop in mid air. It's never going to happen.
- 1:45The airplane's going to it has momentum.
- 1:46It's going to have to slow down gradually and unpack.
- 1:49Now in terms of your brain, it's exactly the same.
- 1:52So This is why this is what I'll tell you to do.
- 1:54Drink caffeine before bed. And it all sounds really, really
- 1:56like opposite, but stimulants help the autism brain because it
- 1:59helps increase serotonin levels, which will then increase your
- 2:03ability to sleep better. I know it sounds crazy, bear
- 2:06with me. So have caffeine before bed.
- 2:08Maybe come see a couple of coffee before you go to bed.
- 2:10But create a, a setting environment, you know, put on
- 2:13candles, dim the light in your living room, watch something
- 2:16that's calming. Maybe stop television an hour
- 2:18before you want to go to sleep, read a book or something, But
- 2:21nothing that's going to be too exciting.
- 2:23All of these things is designed to help you go OK, I'm I'm
- 2:26entering slumber period and I'm going to go to bed and I'm going
- 2:29to have a good rest. Now.
