- 0:01Oh, God. Oh, my God. And then some weird shit
- 0:23happened with this guy named Jose, which I'm
- 0:25not sure if you met. Different Jose? Not your
- 0:27host, not Josie. Different host. New guy. Newest
- 0:30member of the group. No longer with us in the
- 0:32group. That is because of death. For context,
- 0:35the Jose I knew his like pick up line move to
- 0:39talking to girls was telling the story about
- 0:40the one time he almost got chlamydia. Almost.
- 0:44Almost. Also, it proves you fuck. Yeah. And you're
- 0:51reckless. That was like we got it. That was his
- 0:53mindset. He was like, guys are totally going
- 0:55to think I'm experienced. I do anything. I do
- 0:59it all, baby. I fuck with that. That was before
- 1:06his time, like years in the future. I miss all
- 1:11of you. I got to come visit. Yeah, it's a mess.
- 1:14And we haven't really been cool ever since, basically.
- 1:17I do want to say, speaking of it's a mess, welcome
- 1:20back to Cage Magical and Roundabout. I'm your
- 1:22host, Sean, here with my... Now international
- 1:26co -host. Bathrobe Nick. I'm wearing a bathrobe.
- 1:32Nick is in a bathrobe. And our un -bathrobed
- 1:36producer. Peter, hello. I really feel like I
- 1:38should go get a bathrobe, but I would have to
- 1:40go to the store. I don't own a bathrobe. I can
- 1:44just take one from Pete's room. We can just charge
- 1:48Pete's room for a bath. Oh, absolutely. They
- 1:50probably charge you like $150 for those fucking
- 1:52things. Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't even say it's
- 1:54that nice of a bathrobe, but it feels good on
- 1:57my bare flesh. Where do you get bare flesh? Welcoming...
- 2:01Where do you get bare flesh? Welcoming back to
- 2:05the podcast my oldest friend that we've recently
- 2:10rediscovered, Chris Fields. Hey, how's it going,
- 2:13everybody? I hope you guys are... I took notes
- 2:16on this thing, by the way. Oh, terrific. I'm
- 2:19sorry. He got you back for a doozy. Yeah, this
- 2:24movie. I was not prepared, bro. Okay, so this
- 2:28week on Cage Match, colon and roundabout, we're
- 2:30meeting Nicolas Cage. We are discussing the movie
- 2:32Vengeance, colon, A Love Story. And it is...
- 2:37Tongue in cheek. none of those things none of
- 2:40those things yes i mean i guess i mean it is
- 2:43it does have vengeance i suppose yeah it is a
- 2:45vengeance story there's a vengeance he's avenging
- 2:49someone he's not getting revenge himself you
- 2:53know that would be a revenge story all right
- 2:55so i introduced myself i am christopher fields
- 2:57like as sean said one of his oldest friends if
- 3:00not the oldest i guess we agreed on um that i
- 3:03still talk to you yeah you still talk to me so
- 3:05it's i i won the race you're my black friend
- 3:09you're the one that keeps me from getting canceled
- 3:10happy to be of service i'm known internationally
- 3:16as hell pockets um i actually just got back from
- 3:19japan a couple weeks ago doing a gig for a dragon
- 3:22ball z mobile game world esports tournament which
- 3:26fuck yeah yeah it was awesome you know i had
- 3:28a great time ben dinamco flew me out there and
- 3:30they you know took care of me and it's a great
- 3:32time and then i came home with gout because all
- 3:34they had to eat out there is pork and noodles
- 3:36That's so cool. The King's disease. Hey, what's
- 3:40your favorite? What's your favorite way to get
- 3:42gout? Like what? Well, what's the meal of choice
- 3:45for a guy? Pork and noodles might be it. I think
- 3:49that's it. Yeah. Ramen, dude. Like I just cannot.
- 3:52I have to avoid eating ramen because if I don't
- 3:56limit myself, I'll eat that every day. Right.
- 3:58Yeah. Especially out there. I'll go out there.
- 4:00I'll eat Mazatoba, which is like basically brothless
- 4:02ramen. And they just. put a bunch of oil on top
- 4:06of it to simulate wet noodles. Just to lube it
- 4:09up for you. Just really slick it in. They lubed
- 4:13up the noodles for me, bro. I had that for breakfast
- 4:16one day and my foot started hurting. I was like,
- 4:17oh shit, I totally deserve this. I'm a fighting
- 4:25game analyst slash commentator slash former competitor,
- 4:29retired and brand ambassador for SNK. as well
- 4:33as their number one commentator. And on the side,
- 4:37I work for San Francisco State University in
- 4:39the psychology department. That's right. I forgot
- 4:42like the dichotomy of your life is really interesting.
- 4:47I do a little bit of everything, you know. Well,
- 4:50right on. Welcome back. Thank you. Thank you.
- 4:52Sorry. Sorry. It's not as good a movie as last
- 4:54time, because last time it was we watched Mandy
- 4:56with you, didn't we? Yes, we watched Mandy. And,
- 4:59you know, I'll actually say that there was. And
- 5:02it's probably because it's Nick Cage. But there
- 5:05was the subtle level of discomfort that exists
- 5:11in that movie kind of is present here as well.
- 5:13Yeah, you're not wrong. It's a pretty uncomfortable
- 5:16movie overall. Yeah, no, straight up. So you
- 5:19get the honor of giving us a quick rundown of
- 5:22the plot for this movie. Don't miss anything.
- 5:26Admittedly, I go into this. And I'm like, hey,
- 5:29you know, this is another Nick Cage straight
- 5:32to streaming platform or possibly just straight
- 5:34to DVD because I don't know how old this movie
- 5:35is. 2017. 2017. It was a direct release, though.
- 5:40Brought to us by our friends at Patriot Pictures.
- 5:44Patriot Pictures. Well, I got to give it to them
- 5:47because immediately out the gate, I think this
- 5:50is like, you know, we're going to Steven Seagal's
- 5:52here, you know, straight to DVD. We're like,
- 5:54he's just in a freaking bar. And some young hot
- 5:57chase just happens to sit next to them. And he's
- 5:59like, I've got no business being anywhere near
- 6:01you, but you are clearly about to make a move
- 6:03on me. And I'm like, Oh God, here we go. But
- 6:05they circumvented my expectations by nothing
- 6:07coming from that whatsoever. Yeah, it's true.
- 6:10It just serves to prove that she's the town.
- 6:13Other than that, he knows that she's a nice girl.
- 6:15Yeah. That's what she's known for. Her manners.
- 6:22I just want to like from from the word go him
- 6:26meeting her in the bar seven months before everything
- 6:29happens is somehow weirder than if he was just
- 6:33like a loose cop on the edge who was sick of
- 6:35crime in his city. Yeah. Like him having that
- 6:37like one previous like connection with her just
- 6:41makes it so much more like uncomfortable and
- 6:44insidious his like his role in this film. You
- 6:47have to think about what led up to that moment,
- 6:49too, because I did skip some stuff on purpose
- 6:51because what we're not talking about, we are
- 6:54now. But this guy's cop, the opening scene is
- 6:58him just doing gun practice. I expected him to
- 7:00do a behind the back shot at a certain point
- 7:02because Dool was hitting 100 percent in the market.
- 7:04I'm like, oh, God, like he's a marksman. He can't
- 7:07miss. He's going to kill everybody in the neighborhood.
- 7:10Everybody knows that the real elites are vets
- 7:12of the Gulf War. Gulf War vet. elite of the elite
- 7:17i guess that was supposed to be implied by the
- 7:20fact that he had excellent trigger control like
- 7:22he had great trigger uh discipline that's what
- 7:24they call it trigger discipline um because they
- 7:27did the thing where like the uh the target turns
- 7:29to the side and you're just like don't shoot
- 7:31at the target when it's turned sideways like
- 7:34if anybody's turned sideways don't shoot them
- 7:36my first three notes from the beginning of this
- 7:38film the copaganda is strong niagara falls the
- 7:41most dangerous city and big man bigger gun Huge
- 7:47gun has the dirty, hairy pistol. I do love in
- 7:50that scene where he's shooting the targets. He
- 7:52starts off with like a tiny little like snub
- 7:55nose and then immediately picks up the giant
- 7:57gun. Oh, yeah. Yeah. He goes through the whole
- 7:59gamut of guns. Why do you think Nick Cage likes
- 8:01being a cop so much? Because he doesn't like
- 8:04the consequences of his actions. I would say
- 8:07it's because he hasn't perfected the art of acting
- 8:11as a cop yet because he's done like the full
- 8:13gamut of. kind of cops you could be in a movie.
- 8:16He's been a lot of cops. He's been the meter
- 8:19maid. He's been a parking attendant, hasn't he?
- 8:21Nicolas Cage is the meter maid. Was he ever a
- 8:24parking attendant? Fuck. I swear he was a traffic
- 8:29cop in one of these movies. I think we're thinking
- 8:31of It Could Happen to You where he was just a
- 8:33beat cop. Maybe. Was that the one with the lottery
- 8:36ticket? Yeah, in Wicker Man he was a chips cop.
- 8:41Wicker Man. Then he was a Boston cop in Sorcerer's
- 8:46Apprentice. A couple of times. Yeah, a couple
- 8:49of times. A New Orleans cop in Bad Lieutenant,
- 8:51Port of Call, New Orleans. He was a fireman.
- 8:55That doesn't count in 9 -11. Because firemen
- 8:59are cool. A detective in the Frozen Ground. That
- 9:02came up just last night, I think, actually. In
- 9:04terms of cops he's played, I would argue this
- 9:09is the worst cop he's played. it's definitely
- 9:12the nothingness define define what yeah he basically
- 9:17isn't a cop he just gets to have a gun this is
- 9:20the worst cop he's played in that he openly ignores
- 9:22violent crime so he can later kill people that
- 9:25sounds pretty cool he sounds like a seattle cop
- 9:28one cat hanging and then when dude gets uh his
- 9:35head smashed through a car window just we'd have
- 9:38the excuse to shoot the guy a second later Yeah.
- 9:40So, OK, fair warning for anybody. This movie
- 9:44is about a this movie is about a brutal sexual
- 9:49assault witnessed by a 12 year old girl and also
- 9:54a animal murder and also a bunch of human murders.
- 9:58But they're bad guys, so it's OK. Right. It's
- 10:01got Don Johnson. Yeah, man, I just that. bro
- 10:06so i have a note i have a note on that where
- 10:08i'm like has don johnson ever played a character
- 10:11that wasn't a piece of shit oh i was thinking
- 10:14has don johnson ever played somebody who isn't
- 10:16hella cool johnny miami vice miami vice he was
- 10:21kind of like he's a he's a still a miami cop
- 10:24you know yeah which i mean let's be upfront cops
- 10:28are pieces of shit but with that sick ass oversized
- 10:30blazer You know he was definitely partaking of
- 10:33the freaking evidence though, right? There's
- 10:36no way they're cruising around like that 24 -7
- 10:38like, I can't live without my bump, bro. Come
- 10:41on. Let's go bust these bad guys. I got a real
- 10:45itch. We got to go. We got to thwart some crime
- 10:47today. I think that and like Nash Bridges were
- 10:50the only time he was like a good guy. I forgot
- 10:53about Nash Bridges. Nash Bridges, bro. There
- 10:56you go. OK, so let's see. So it starts off Nick
- 10:59Cage. He's driving with his buddy, his cop buddy,
- 11:02who makes the initial mistake of explaining that
- 11:04he's going to propose to his wife or his hopefully
- 11:07soon to be wife. You're dead. I just love how
- 11:10so much of this movie was taken in like initial
- 11:12shots, just like the guy pulling out the ring
- 11:16and he pulls it out upside down and like has
- 11:18to flip the box around. It's like, yeah, that's
- 11:21good enough for this take. We're not going to
- 11:23get back to this guy ever again. No, his partner
- 11:26definitely had I had two weeks to retirement
- 11:28vibes written all over him. Yeah. I don't understand
- 11:31why he was being so cold to him in the first
- 11:3420 seconds. He's like, hey, bro, do you want
- 11:35some of these snacks I'm eating? And he doesn't
- 11:38even verbally just respond to him. He doesn't
- 11:40even look at him. Like Nick Cage is like completely
- 11:42disgusted by his partner. I can't believe you
- 11:46eat that shit, bro. You deserve to die. So he
- 11:51dies. Oh, and Nicolas Cage, why does he die?
- 11:55But like the ring falls out of his pocket or
- 11:59whatever. And Nick Cage tucks it back in. Like
- 12:01what a fucking worthless thing to capture on
- 12:05film. This is so stupid. So Nick Cage and his
- 12:11partner are trying to track a criminal in a neighborhood.
- 12:16The guy's like walking to his car. They like
- 12:19just speed up on him. The guy gets in his van
- 12:22and I'm pretty sure they ram him. Like the thing
- 12:27guy pops out of, are you saying cops are bad?
- 12:31A hundred percent. He's playing the worst cop
- 12:35in his career. I did not realize, I didn't realize
- 12:38till later on in this film, what side of Niagara
- 12:40falls this took place on. So I'm like, this is
- 12:42a lot of like, this is a lot of guns for Canada.
- 12:45Oh yeah. No, straight up. Like I was like, damn,
- 12:48this is freaking dirty out there. I'm never going
- 12:50to Canada. They call this a door spotlight. All
- 12:53right. This is, this is going to paint me in
- 12:54a bad light, which is why I asked my, why I asked
- 12:57fields on this, uh, podcast, because we only
- 13:00get the partner in the beginning of the film.
- 13:03There's later another cop who is bald and has
- 13:08melanin. And because they're about an hour apart,
- 13:11I couldn't tell if they were the same person.
- 13:19no he's married now it's great great i'm glad
- 13:22he survived they just asked the actor to grow
- 13:24a beard and play a second role it's like i don't
- 13:26know we got you for like two weeks right nick
- 13:29cage kills a criminal next scene hero cop in
- 13:33a bar after three months of desk duty because
- 13:36he got shot meets the girl tina with the dumbest
- 13:40spelling ever The next so the next scene is seven
- 13:43months later with Tina at her new boyfriend.
- 13:45I didn't realize there was any shift in time
- 13:47in this movie. I was just watching it and I was
- 13:49like, this is just all happening immediately.
- 13:52They did not do a good job. Yeah. Was there was
- 13:55there any like last month and it was in like
- 13:57April or whatever? So that was it was in September.
- 14:01Like, yeah, that's right. The here thing was
- 14:03in September. It had been three months and then
- 14:04and then it was the 4th of July. This is not
- 14:07the kind of movie that I. They shouldn't be asking
- 14:10you to pay attention to the story. They should
- 14:12be spoon feeding these kind of things to you
- 14:15in this movie. There's no reason that I should
- 14:17have to look at a newspaper to figure out what
- 14:19day it is. Seven months later. Most of a pregnancy
- 14:23later. Let's go. I legit thought it was all the
- 14:26same day. I thought so too. like the way they
- 14:30played that like it was all the same day this
- 14:33dude's hard as fuck he just got shot and now
- 14:35he's gonna go out here and just the interaction
- 14:38the interaction that yeah exactly like the the
- 14:42interaction that he has with tina in the bar
- 14:45um i'll say i was surprised that it did not go
- 14:48in the direction that it was obviously leaning
- 14:50in and so i thought that was kind of nice and
- 14:52you know sweet of the um director or the writers
- 14:56to be like yeah you know we're not gonna make
- 14:58this it's not that kind of story you mean they
- 15:01weren't gonna shoehorn a backseat handy into
- 15:03this movie you'd assume based on the title that
- 15:07tina and nick cage's character would uh be the
- 15:11colon a love story of this movie it's not I think
- 15:16the love story is about shooting bad guys. After
- 15:19the 4th of July party, Tina walking her daughter
- 15:22home, trying to bond over their shared trauma
- 15:26over losing Tina's husband. What is the daughter's
- 15:29name? Bethy? Bethany? Bethel? Bethel? Her name
- 15:33is Bethel, but they call her Bethy. Bethy, there
- 15:36we go, yeah. Bethel. Bethel was the name of my
- 15:40first car. Really? That's a car's name, bro.
- 15:44I've never met a Bethel. It was a Nissan Quest.
- 15:48It was a minivan. You bet it was. That's a total
- 15:52Bethel. Absolutely. Bethel in the movie, totally
- 15:56not car size, though. That's why it made it more
- 16:00confusing that her mom was like, hey, let's take
- 16:03this shortcut. The mom wants to walk her through
- 16:07the park where she hung out as a teen. There
- 16:09happened to be some... unsavory characters there
- 16:12total shit bags yeah who who do a needless rape
- 16:20what's needless about this scene is how long
- 16:22it fucking goes on it is entirely it it verges
- 16:26on torture porn it is gross it's unnecessary
- 16:29it lingers on the maybe dead body of a pantsless
- 16:35bloodied woman for way too long I want to, I
- 16:39want to, I want to side note this by pointing
- 16:41out that I started watching this movie at work
- 16:43in the office. That's a weird flex. It's like,
- 16:50Hey guys, I'm going to watch this. No headphones.
- 16:52Nobody talked to me. No, I'm just saying like
- 16:55when it started happening, I was like, I was
- 16:57like, Oh man, they're really good. Oh, they're
- 16:59really, they're really, they're really, Oh my
- 17:00God, man. it's brutal i mean the girl she has
- 17:04to watch the whole thing happen and that one
- 17:06guy is like slamming on the the cage area that
- 17:09she climbs into it's fucking anything with kids
- 17:13in danger in particular always gets me like really
- 17:15fucking angry and stressed out you know when
- 17:19you started talking about slamming on the cage
- 17:21i just thought uh cyrus the virus that was that
- 17:27was not the energy that this scene brought at
- 17:29all it was not yeah no the them bringing tina
- 17:33into the boathouse by her hair they could have
- 17:36just slammed the door there and that would have
- 17:38been one a much more like powerful cinematic
- 17:41piece it together what happened but no they they
- 17:44go for it and they did not need to no it was
- 17:48a lot of grotesque uh whatnot my note at this
- 17:51point was man fuck this movie yeah i think the
- 17:55only thing i got from that scene was just like
- 17:56okay they're That's the kind of movie this is
- 17:59going to be, right? This is what the producer
- 18:01and director decided they would put on film.
- 18:04And the thing that bothered me about it was that
- 18:06then I tried to like, it's hard to say, right?
- 18:09Like you watch a lot of SVU and I felt like I
- 18:12was watching the extended episode of SVU after
- 18:14that. That's a great way of putting it. Yeah.
- 18:17It's got its court part. It's got its like crime
- 18:19part. It's got the cop shit. Yeah, it's. it feels
- 18:22like that, but way too long. It felt like they
- 18:24left the rape scene in because they needed to
- 18:27pad out the minutes on the film. They like, they're
- 18:30like, Oh, we promised we'd get it over an hour
- 18:3232. And here we are like an hour 30. Well, back
- 18:38when fields and I were, uh, when back when fields
- 18:40and I used to hang out with Kevin at my, uh,
- 18:42my place when I was 19. Yeah. 19 year old, give
- 18:45a 19 year old house. See how that, uh, winds
- 18:47up. But, uh, we used to be, uh, Kevin and I used
- 18:50to like, watch rescue me on dvd which had added
- 18:53sexual content which just meant more side boob
- 18:56um this feels like an episode of svu with added
- 18:59sexual content like they'd straight up we're
- 19:02just like well since we're on hbo guys let's
- 19:04go for it here's a little more side boob okay
- 19:09yeah so then um bethy you know identifies the
- 19:14creepos and they round them up uh then we get
- 19:17introduced to the creepos parents which uh one
- 19:22of my favorite characters from this movie is
- 19:23the dad who just he's a total piece of shit but
- 19:27also has some of the funniest lines to me and
- 19:29his reactions to everything are just like so
- 19:32perfect this guy looks just like the singer for
- 19:34iron maiden bro you're not wrong that's i was
- 19:37like what the hell he also was in a movie with
- 19:40uh he was in a movie with cage we just watched
- 19:42recently uh he played that guy sideburns um in
- 19:46uh seeking justice the guy pierce one oh really
- 19:50the guy who didn't have sideburns wasn't he like
- 19:53bald headed or something sideburns was bald and
- 19:55he was exactly he had no sideburns at all and
- 19:57he just had his nickname was sideburns um but
- 20:02yeah that dad there's the lawyer scene where
- 20:04they're talking to don johnson and He's like,
- 20:06OK, it's going to cost this much money. They
- 20:07got to put up their house, whatever. And the
- 20:09dad is like, OK, so wait, we pay you twice because
- 20:11it's two sons. But they're charged with the same
- 20:14crime. So one story, like a woman has two babies.
- 20:18They ain't twice as much work. She does the same
- 20:20thing for both. That's why she's got two tits,
- 20:21right? That was brilliant. I also want to say,
- 20:26like, they get the lawyer recommended to them
- 20:29through their priest. Yeah. Creepy priest, too.
- 20:35this lawyer is recommended by the priest because
- 20:37this is the lawyer the Vatican calls when they
- 20:39have trouble. Undertone, this is the lawyer they
- 20:42call for child rape. He seems like a bad guy.
- 20:46Yeah, they're all bad guys. There's a ton of
- 20:47good stuff going on here, right? Like a ton of
- 20:49people just making an honest living. Don Johnson's
- 20:52court scene is the most just like, one, he would
- 20:55have been kicked out immediately because like,
- 20:56he keeps walking behind the desk, behind the
- 20:59daughter, like when he's giving his open statement
- 21:01and like, the actual like prosecutor is like
- 21:07you know objecting to all this shit and the judge
- 21:09is like that's fine he's a good old boy he can
- 21:12like creep on the 12 year old during his opening
- 21:14statements oh my god man i was i was actually
- 21:17pissed about that but okay so you're right the
- 21:19courtroom stuff is so funny to me because also
- 21:22it's like they suddenly are in a trial like for
- 21:24no reason well because it was supposed to be
- 21:26just the arraignment where she identifies them
- 21:30but John Johnson like finagles it to be like
- 21:35the opening statements to try and get power.
- 21:37But he's also good old friends with the judge.
- 21:40So we're supposed to see we're supposed to see
- 21:42that every level of the process is corrupt. Like
- 21:45they paint Tina as a whore because she's a widow
- 21:48and, you know, has had some boyfriends over the
- 21:52years. The whole thing is disgusting. Like it
- 21:54really upset me. It is. And one of the things
- 21:57I was like, OK, so the rapist is sitting there
- 22:00like. on display and as tina's walking up to
- 22:03be put into the the stand he goes tina tina it's
- 22:08like what the fuck are you doing dude yeah is
- 22:10that not intimidating to witness like what are
- 22:13we talking about it's being a super ass creep
- 22:16yeah also so and the defense attorney says that
- 22:19there's no lack of dna evidence so the defense
- 22:22attorney's like yeah They all had sex with her,
- 22:25but she sold herself to them and then raised
- 22:27the price afterwards that attacked them. So they
- 22:29were defending themselves by beating her to near
- 22:31death. That's more than like self -defense. It's
- 22:35more than self -defense. And so they actually
- 22:37did something that was very subtle, but I like
- 22:40that they did it because even though it looked
- 22:44like they had. the gallery on their side and
- 22:47they were likely going to get the jury on their
- 22:49side about the rape stuff the assault side was
- 22:52indefensible they were probably going to eat
- 22:54three years on that that's something that they
- 22:56brought up later on when they were talking about
- 22:58cutting a deal and avoiding the actual trial
- 23:01portion because he was just like because don
- 23:03johnson's character told them straight up like
- 23:05look guys this goes to jury you're probably still
- 23:08going to eat shit on this you know right there's
- 23:10probably something like they did too much you
- 23:13know they're roughed up a little too much Right.
- 23:15And there's there's always the chance at a jury
- 23:17trial that they're going to go the wrong way
- 23:19for you. Exactly. Exactly. And I think he based
- 23:22on the fact that, you know, she was a very sympathetic
- 23:25witness. So I had to watch this movie and starts
- 23:28and stops because the court scene, like the rape
- 23:31scene was just gratuitous. The court scene just
- 23:33upset me so much because the judge clearly doesn't
- 23:37care about what's happened, like is just. outwardly
- 23:42rude to tina and then when don johnson's giving
- 23:45his big opening statement and the whole gallery
- 23:48starts clapping and cheering and standing up
- 23:50the judge doesn't call order and only calls order
- 23:52when tina has a mental breakdown a mental breakdown
- 23:56yeah that judge sucks so it's just like this
- 23:59whole thing was just disgusting so we're supposed
- 24:01to see how this like is flawed on every level
- 24:04so it requires like nick cage take things into
- 24:08his own hands but It doesn't ever build on that.
- 24:11Like every, no, every 15 minutes, like the tone
- 24:14of this film kind of changes. That's, that's
- 24:17a good way to put it. And this is what I was
- 24:19talking about post rape scene where the tone
- 24:22dramatically tried to shift back to, well, this
- 24:25is what we were dealing with earlier. You know?
- 24:26I mean, the fact that after it's over, Nick Cage's
- 24:31character just happens to be driving along the
- 24:33road where this occurred. Right. Yeah. The circumstances
- 24:36of that. Finds Bethel, right? Like, it's just
- 24:39like, what are we doing? Like, what kind of movie
- 24:41is this? Well, and then, so later, Tina gets
- 24:44brought home, gets brought home, is recovering,
- 24:48well, to her mom's place. Her mom's a piece of
- 24:50shit. Yeah, she sucks. But Bethy gets home, is
- 24:54looking for the cat. One of the criminals kills
- 24:57the cat and hangs it on her front porch for Bethy
- 25:00to see. Yeah, that was fucked up. Nick Cage drives
- 25:03by, is a cop, drives by, sees the car, pull away.
- 25:07There has to be a restraining order at this point.
- 25:09Pull away, drives by, sees the hanging cat and
- 25:12little girl doesn't stop. Doesn't pull that guy
- 25:16over. This is why I say he's actively ignoring
- 25:19their crime so he can murder them later. When
- 25:22it was like, it's all, it's just, it's all uncomfortable.
- 25:26It is. It's, it's weird. Am I tripping or was
- 25:30that all the same day? Like he literally just
- 25:32left the house after bringing. no because she's
- 25:36coming home from a thing school the time the
- 25:38time frame and it's very choppy it's jumped around
- 25:41a lot it jumped around so but he just happened
- 25:43to be there right and he's wearing like the freaking
- 25:45leather jacket like staking the house out for
- 25:47whatever reason and then sees the guy do that
- 25:51I do like how he gets a crime jacket when he
- 25:53decides to take the matters into his own hands.
- 25:55I had a note where I said, how come he's dressed
- 25:57like Ghost Rider now? Like, what the hell? For
- 26:00vengeance. Vengeance, excuse me. Yeah, exactly.
- 26:03Spirit of vengeance, dog. Okay, so Tina, in her
- 26:07meltdown, like, is like, I'm gonna kill myself.
- 26:09She just is standing on the edge of Niagara Falls.
- 26:11Can people just stand on the fucking edge of
- 26:13that thing? Can you just like guardrails? Right.
- 26:16You would think there would be, if nothing else,
- 26:18a little basic ass guardrail. Cause like, obviously
- 26:21this comes into play later for the vengeance.
- 26:23Um, but like, I just was looking at that. I was
- 26:26like, that seems really unsafe. I jumped into
- 26:29Niagara falls. You know what? I thought about
- 26:31that. I was watching that scene and they did
- 26:33the shot of her looking down into it. And I flashed
- 26:37back to that Superman scene where the kid just
- 26:38fucking falls into the waterfall. Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 26:41I'm just like, yeah, that could happen. But Superman
- 26:44took place in the 70s. Yeah, well, they didn't
- 26:47care about seatbelts, right? Yeah. Makes sense.
- 26:51Niagara Falls is hard like that, though. Hard
- 26:53as hell, man. Like, I had no idea that it was
- 26:56so hood in Niagara Falls, man. Oh, yeah, the
- 26:59city? Man. Bro, Bethel gets ran up on in the
- 27:02ice cream shop? Like, what the fuck? Dude, that
- 27:05girl, like, fucking, what an asshole. Wow. Well,
- 27:08during the opening credits, all, like, the, like,
- 27:11gangs run amok, like. Of Niagara Falls, the most
- 27:14dangerous city in America. That has taken over.
- 27:18That's right. Thank God for cops, right? Okay,
- 27:22so then we get introduced to my second favorite
- 27:24character, one of the sleazeballs, which all
- 27:26of them look like fucking, you know, close -up
- 27:28magicians. One of them gets murked off real quick.
- 27:33I don't think we have to talk about it that much.
- 27:34Nick Cage immediately shoots him in the head.
- 27:36He's dead, whatever. But then the other two brothers,
- 27:39one of them's getting a tattoo. And he's my favorite.
- 27:42He's got this little fucking braided... He's
- 27:44played by Rocco Nugent. Great name, too. He's
- 27:47got this braided, like, rat tail in the front
- 27:49sort of thing. He's getting a tattoo of a piece
- 27:53of pie. Well, he's getting words and he wants
- 27:56pie over it. Right, because one year he had birthday
- 27:59pie. Yeah, one year he had birthday pie. Which
- 28:02isn't a sex thing. It's from his mom. Given that...
- 28:07Given that boy is like everything might be might
- 28:11be a sex thing. It might have been a sex thing.
- 28:13Yeah. But he's the scene makes it really feel
- 28:18like the tattoo artist is just freestyling the
- 28:22tattoo on him, just like kind of hand drawing
- 28:24with the tattoo machine. She definitely was because
- 28:27he was describing the pie to her. She was like,
- 28:29yeah, I dig that. Yeah, I know. I know how to
- 28:31draw pie. Don't worry. I do like that. Like they're
- 28:34really trying to like give the tattoo. uh parlor
- 28:37like a real ambiance of like scuzzitude and like
- 28:40seediness and even like the other tattoo artist
- 28:43is walking through the room when the one brother
- 28:44goes to like give him a fist pump oh yeah oh
- 28:47yeah piece of shit we all know you did that shit
- 28:53don't get out of here don't touch me i was like
- 28:55yeah that old man's cool so then then older brother
- 28:58marvin gets a call about like oh we got some
- 29:01evidence on tina proving that she's a slut so
- 29:04he brings other brother pie brother uh out to
- 29:09niagara falls is his name lloyd yeah i also like
- 29:13in that scene lloyd uh he's smoking a joint or
- 29:16something he drops in his lap ah my dick i almost
- 29:19burned my dick off burn my dick off like by the
- 29:23way that was definitely meth glass piping so
- 29:27they get there and uh and cage's truck is just
- 29:31kind of sitting there but there's nobody in the
- 29:33truck this scene this scene is it's interesting
- 29:38right it's a good scene there there's there's
- 29:42not a lot of places to hide out there like it's
- 29:45just an open area and the waterfalls right yeah
- 29:49and this fucking guy nick cage batman's and what
- 29:52is way behind them where was he hiding what the
- 29:56hell was he he wasn't in the truck he just He's
- 30:01just behind you, surprised, motherfucker. Like,
- 30:03what the hell? How? He, like, walks up. He blasts
- 30:06Lloyd so fucking good. Yeah. Blast Lloyd. Lloyd
- 30:09goes over the falls. Drops the gun he shoots
- 30:13Lloyd with. Then shoots. Yeah. Then shoots Marvin
- 30:18with. With Lloyd's gun? I get. That's what I
- 30:22thought. Like, in the leg. And then when Marvin's
- 30:25on the ground, shoots him twice in the chest
- 30:27and once in the head. And my assumption was he
- 30:29took. Lloyd's gun to like have them like make
- 30:34it look like those two shot each other. But no,
- 30:36he kicks them both over the falls. And the news
- 30:38is reporting that they found the truck on the
- 30:42falls and they fled into Canada. Yeah, right.
- 30:45Which I mean, that that actually makes sense
- 30:47as a storyline, you know. But this is what this
- 30:51is where this breaks down for me. So he's doing
- 30:53all these killings. The first killing he did,
- 30:55he did in public and he did it as self -defense
- 30:58as a cop because. the uh shithead brandished
- 31:01a knife uh right and gets off on it which i like
- 31:05how they actually explained that where he had
- 31:07to like yeah go and talk to other cops and clear
- 31:09him oh it's ib yeah internal affairs yeah yeah
- 31:12he kills the other two guys and then we get to
- 31:17the and then we get to the fourth guy he kills
- 31:20all these people for these two women But they
- 31:24don't know that. None of them know that, but
- 31:26they're so grateful to him for all he's done
- 31:28when he's done, as far as they're concerned,
- 31:31absolutely nothing, except fine Tina initially.
- 31:35Right. Fine Tina. I mean, the only one that they
- 31:38can confirm they killed was obviously the first
- 31:40guy you mentioned. Yeah. The other guys just
- 31:42keep disappearing, essentially. And then one
- 31:45kills himself. Kills himself. Because Nick Cage
- 31:50has him write a suicide note. right and by the
- 31:52end of the movie they seem to have figured that
- 31:54out somehow or something right like accuses nick
- 31:58cage of it and then walks out of the best exit
- 32:01ever Which I just assumed was Don Johnson's actual
- 32:10motorcycle, and he just left the set. He's like,
- 32:14I'm done, and just drove away, and they caught
- 32:15it on camera. Or it was in his rider. That is
- 32:20one of the single best bits of comedy I've seen
- 32:22in a long time, because comedy is defined as
- 32:25subverting expectations. Yeah, no helmet, nothing.
- 32:28I was on a Harley after leaving a courthouse.
- 32:31And there's like, and the thing was, there was
- 32:33no buildup to that. Like we didn't know if he
- 32:36drove cars or rode Harleys and, you know, and
- 32:39this is a theme and that's not the entirety of
- 32:40the movie, but just. Yeah. Rocket man, go for
- 32:44it. You know, the Harley and right off into the
- 32:45sunset. You heard it, you know, like what? Like,
- 32:49see you guys later. I got to go defend some more
- 32:52child rapists. Hop on my heart. I legitimately
- 32:54thought that there was going to be one more vengeance
- 32:56situation. And I thought we were going to end
- 32:58up seeing him like. I thought that Nick Cage
- 33:01and his partner were going to go report to a
- 33:03scene of an accident and it was going to end
- 33:05like because they get called at the end. It's
- 33:07like, oh, there's something we got to go do.
- 33:08Oh, it's going to be he's going to be dead. His
- 33:10motorcycle fucking blew up sugar in the tank.
- 33:12You know, whatever. Nope. This movie does exactly
- 33:17what it says it's going to do and then ends.
- 33:19It's like Nick Cage gets vengeance movie over.
- 33:22like no maybe maybe he finds love i don't know
- 33:25no that's exactly what happens because the colon
- 33:27a love story is the last tacked on scene of the
- 33:30movie where they're saying goodbye to nick cage
- 33:33through a chain link fence and the little girl
- 33:36uh bethy says i love you and nick cage says if
- 33:41i ever had a daughter i hope she grows up to
- 33:43be like you that's the colon a love story in
- 33:47this film turns out he loved the kid not the
- 33:49mom i guess bethy and nick cage have five scenes
- 33:53in this film uh tina and nick cage have four
- 33:57or five scenes two of which tina is in a coma
- 33:59they have no connection whatsoever like they
- 34:04don't have a connection she threw pussy out of
- 34:05my like in the first five yeah exactly that's
- 34:07all you need he could have hit he could have
- 34:10hit for sure he definitely could have hit that
- 34:11which makes this So much creepier than it needs
- 34:14to be. If they just had never met, if he only
- 34:16like met the daughter first after the crime would
- 34:19make so much more sense and be so much less weird,
- 34:23man. I fucking hated that chain link fence scene
- 34:26just because like from a, from a filming perspective,
- 34:29it's like, this is a sensitive moment and you're
- 34:31just like blocking one person's face, either
- 34:34shot, like with a fucking tight cop chain link
- 34:37fence, like fuck that. Most of this movie is
- 34:40like fairly well filmed. Fairly well shot. Like
- 34:43everything is pretty decent overall for like
- 34:45a pretty low budget movie. That's one of those
- 34:48where I was like, what is this DP doing? Like,
- 34:51what the fuck were you thinking? That doesn't
- 34:52make any sense. Is it just so they could have
- 34:55that moment where you can put the fingers through
- 34:56the fence and she can put her fingers through
- 34:58the fence? Is that it? Probably. I would say
- 35:01that was supposed to be a big payoff moment because
- 35:03they actually filmed that little sequence very
- 35:06well. And you could kind of catch the emotion
- 35:08on that. The only problem was, was that it felt
- 35:11undeserved as hell. yeah if somebody did a bunch
- 35:15of like unrequested murders for you and then
- 35:18like at the end of a long week you like catch
- 35:22up with them how do you feel about that like
- 35:25generally like like you personally would you
- 35:27be like oh man that's that's so cool of steven
- 35:32to just fucking knock off all those guys i'm
- 35:37so glad steven murked off all those people exactly
- 35:40the same situation one time you know somebody
- 35:42messed with my haircut those motherfuckers you
- 35:46take care of that same thing right also they're
- 35:51moving to california that's the the the end of
- 35:55their stories that they're just going to california
- 35:57and they'll be happier here right which i'm like
- 36:03why like what is in california For someone who
- 36:07has gone through what Tina has gone through.
- 36:09I mean, maybe better health care, better psychiatric
- 36:13services. Sure. But I don't know what the population
- 36:16of Niagara is. It's probably not that big. So
- 36:19it might be nice to go someplace else. Possibly
- 36:21it will be a little more anonymous because it's
- 36:24clear it could not be anonymous in Niagara Falls.
- 36:27Right. I'm pretty sure everybody knows everybody.
- 36:29They all showed up to that hearing and they're
- 36:32like, yeah, we all know that whore. Fuck that
- 36:34bitch. I'm like, what the? Those boys are innocent.
- 36:38They never raped anybody, at least unless they
- 36:40didn't. You can't rape the willy, which is basically
- 36:42the whole story. Totally normal faces. That judge
- 36:46was a piece of work. Yeah, make that bitch take
- 36:48off her sunglasses. He was a piece of shit. That
- 36:51judge is one of the biggest villains. So this
- 36:56is one of my biggest complaints about the movie
- 36:58is that they keep presenting information to us
- 37:02and then dropping it and then not setting up
- 37:06further information. So the judge is probably
- 37:08the most like the biggest offender in my opinion,
- 37:11because you go into this whole courthouse scene
- 37:15and everything throughout the movie has been
- 37:17kind of presented as is, you know, like this
- 37:19is just. Niagara Falls this is this person's
- 37:22life going awry because she got raped and her
- 37:25dealing with it which I will say for portraying
- 37:29a rape survivor they did a pretty good job on
- 37:31that like I think I did believe absolutely going
- 37:34through it as a rape survivor and it sucked to
- 37:37watch and it was actually pretty compelling so
- 37:39going from nailing that portion to suddenly hey
- 37:44we're in kangaroo court everybody's fucking corrupt
- 37:48everybody's on the take we're not going to explain
- 37:49it but both the lawyer the the defense lawyer
- 37:52and the judge and you're not going to figure
- 37:56that out until maybe this weird interaction maybe
- 38:0020 minutes later yeah and this happens over and
- 38:04over again where things just happen and then
- 38:06was that supposed to mean something like was
- 38:09i supposed to catch something from that that's
- 38:10all the stuff that was cut for time the Just
- 38:12remember, it was only the rape scene that was
- 38:14added back in to flesh it out. Yeah, that was
- 38:17the only thing not cut for time. Oh, my God.
- 38:20I know this is probably the wrong place to insert
- 38:22this exact thing that I absolutely hated about
- 38:25this movie, but I know Peter had the exact same
- 38:28thought with me. Grandma's kitchen, the giant
- 38:32wall -sized portrait of Jim Morrison. What's
- 38:34going on with that? Fuck the doors. Fuck the
- 38:38doors is right. How is she so judgy? She's so
- 38:43fucking judgy. I know. Your daughter just got
- 38:47fucking raped and like be sensitive. Jesus Christ.
- 38:51Oh, my God. They're like, what a fucking bull
- 38:54in a china shop. Yeah, she was terrible. Fuck
- 38:56that lady. Yeah. And then like, so, you know,
- 38:59I feel bad. Also, the the boyfriend, I can't
- 39:01remember his name, but he essentially. His only
- 39:05crime was trying to get her to stay over later
- 39:08than she probably needed to do. And then offering
- 39:11to drive her home. Right. And that's it. She's
- 39:18like, fuck you. You should never come near us
- 39:20again. And he's like, what the hell? And for
- 39:22his troubles, he gets a header through his window.
- 39:25The other crime that Nick Cage outright ignores
- 39:29so he can like murder somebody. Yeah, like I
- 39:31don't get where this guy is. Like, is there any
- 39:33just where's the vengeance for him? You know?
- 39:36Oh, OK. This is way out of cycle for the entire
- 39:39thing. But one of the things in the courtroom
- 39:43that I just stuck in my craw is like, OK, so
- 39:45they said that they were at this this Fourth
- 39:47of July party and she was drunk. They had what
- 39:50did they say it was? I actually wrote that down.
- 39:53i wrote this down like 11 bottles between seven
- 39:56people or some shit like that they drank they
- 40:00drank five kegs of beer between 19 people which
- 40:04is 43 beers each and i said when i heard that
- 40:09out loud i had to write it down because i said
- 40:11it out loud i was like only five kegs we should
- 40:13put that down at the bob cave and it was like
- 40:16five of us five kegs for five people yeah one
- 40:19keg a piece there you go exactly Kevin's 21st
- 40:22birthday, we got our first group keg in my kitchen.
- 40:27That later gets moved into my bathroom because
- 40:31I'm 19 and have a house and the parental units
- 40:36come and check on me occasionally. The day after
- 40:39the party, I get a knock on my door and it's
- 40:41Fields and our friend Sal, both with their hands
- 40:44behind their backs, being like, oh, just... Coming
- 40:47to say you're doing just stopping by. Is that
- 40:49keg still here? I'm like, yeah, you guys want
- 40:51to come in? And they both pull out steins from
- 40:53behind their back. We woke up the next day and
- 40:59we were just like, you think he's still got the
- 41:00keg? Of course he's still got the keg. I got
- 41:02the keg. Those are good times. Oh, man. Well,
- 41:08shit. Okay, so actually we have done. A surprising
- 41:11amount of talking about this movie, which I did
- 41:13not think we were going to do. But a new segment
- 41:16that we've added in is called Sean in 60 seconds,
- 41:20where we give Sean a soapbox to just talk. Voice
- 41:24all the things that need to come out of Sean.
- 41:27I have timed this and I'm going to see if I can
- 41:29do it. I got it down to like one second to go.
- 41:32Let me let me see if I can get my timer out.
- 41:34You start talking and I will hit my timer. All
- 41:36right, Donnie. Nick Cage sneers in the background
- 42:09of another soulless revenge thriller, this time
- 42:12playing loose cannon detective John Everyman,
- 42:14whose only character trait is that he's a loose
- 42:16cannon detective. After meeting local widow Tina
- 42:19at a bar, immediately jump ahead seven months
- 42:22to them having never spoken again. Tina survives
- 42:24a horrific sexual assault in front of her 12
- 42:27-year -old daughter, a scene that is so gratuitous
- 42:30it verges on snuff porn. When the law fails these
- 42:32women, John takes it upon himself to avenge them
- 42:34by openly ignoring violent crimes that would
- 42:37likely get the criminals put away for a long
- 42:38time so he can play Timo Punisher. In 141 minutes,
- 42:42the two leads have all of five scenes together.
- 42:45two of which Tina has been beaten into a coma.
- 42:47The movie itself swings wildly in plot and tone
- 42:49throughout, so if you find yourself getting bored,
- 42:51just give it 10 minutes. Every attempt at an
- 42:53emotional beat is forced and completely unearned.
- 42:56The only real emotional response this film got
- 42:58out of me was the anger and disgust for the needless
- 43:01prolonged rape scene, Don Johnson's sleazy lawyering,
- 43:04and actor Rocco Nugent's terrible rat tail. So
- 43:07unless you love wasting your precious life or
- 43:09just hate women, I would steer clear of this
- 43:11one. Failed. Five seconds too long, Sean. I'm
- 43:18going to cut you dead at one minute. So right
- 43:21at. So right at unless you unless you love wasting
- 43:26your precious life or just hate women. Stop.
- 43:31Yeah. Yep. You got it. I would say that was,
- 43:36you know, that that was pretty close. That was
- 43:38that's within. That's that's pretty good. Not
- 43:40too bad. OK, Nick, final final thoughts on this
- 43:43sucker. I ended up liking it a lot more than
- 43:46I thought I was going to, mostly because it just
- 43:49ends. It doesn't like belabor anything. It's
- 43:53like, oh, this movie, it is what it is. And oh,
- 43:56good. It's over. Like they didn't drag it out.
- 43:59So I will say for myself, it is surprisingly
- 44:02well shot, surprisingly well acted. The girl,
- 44:06uh, Bethy is probably the best actor in this
- 44:08movie. Good kid actor. Yeah. And she might be
- 44:10the best in the movie. You're right. Yeah. It's
- 44:12shockingly well shot. Um, despite how it treats
- 44:17Tina from like the court side of things, like
- 44:20they do actually handle, despite showing the
- 44:23rape, they actually do handle it with some grace
- 44:25and like show her as like more of a fully, like
- 44:28as a tragic figure more than I thought they would.
- 44:31So I will give them credit for that. It is. a
- 44:33tight 141 like it's not it's not so bad it's
- 44:38good and it's not so terrible it's blah but it
- 44:41is a lot of it is unnecessary yeah and you know
- 44:45uh to to speak to the tina of it all like um
- 44:49you know we don't really know a lot about tina
- 44:52we don't get a lot of that story and so like
- 44:54for all we know tina could just be a hoe i think
- 44:57that's possibly what the takeaway is from her
- 45:02character And I think this movie is more about
- 45:04her than it is about Nick Cage, despite the fact
- 45:07that it kept trying to make it about Nick Cage.
- 45:09Well, you know nothing about him. We learned.
- 45:12He's a Gulf Storm vet. That's it. Yeah, we know.
- 45:15They literally, they tell us in a quick 30 second
- 45:20segment, oh, he got a purple heart, huh? Guy's
- 45:23good. He's good at getting shot. When writing
- 45:25that little ramble, I couldn't remember Nick
- 45:28Cage's name, but I wanted to use the joke John
- 45:29Everyman. I'm like, let me see what his actual
- 45:31name is on IMDb to see if this joke works. And
- 45:35he's only credited on IMDb as John. As John.
- 45:39Because she's a prostitute. Because she's a prostitute.
- 45:45Just another John. We're going to have to watch
- 45:51this movie again now. With that in mind. I did.
- 45:56I clearly was not watching it the correct way.
- 46:00Next time watch it on a plane. Yeah. Absolutely.
- 46:03That's how Nick likes to watch the most uncomfortable
- 46:05of Nick Cage movies. Generally. Headphones off
- 46:07on a plane. If you guys mind, I gotta watch this
- 46:10scene real quick. I'm gonna get an IOC and I'm
- 46:11just gonna watch this real quick. I would say
- 46:16the biggest problem that happened to this movie
- 46:18because it has a lot of good ideas. I think it
- 46:21attempts some stuff that is all right. I don't
- 46:23hate it for trying, but I feel like in the moments
- 46:26where they wanted us to accept implied information,
- 46:30they never actually implied anything. The fact
- 46:33that Tina's the town whore was something I didn't
- 46:36realize until the court scene, because there
- 46:38had been no interactions with anybody in town
- 46:41up until that point. Well, Fields, you see, she
- 46:43was wearing a shirt with no bra. oh yeah look
- 46:46at look at what she's wearing the bartender kind
- 46:49of like sets the stage or whatever there's just
- 46:52a lot of jesus christ i think i think in that
- 46:55case i read that more as like oh she's a widow
- 46:57and she's out here trying to rebuild her her
- 47:00social life which is you know he wasn't it wasn't
- 47:03colored with malice you know like the intent
- 47:05wasn't ill when he was telling uh john uh about
- 47:10tina he was just saying yeah that chick's probably
- 47:12gonna you know go home with somebody the night
- 47:15because she's always about having a good time
- 47:17since her husband died right um i never really
- 47:20got the vibe that the whole town fucking hates
- 47:23tina like well by the end of the movie the court
- 47:26scene where it's like oh shit the entirety of
- 47:28niagara yeah i do like how the two brothers who
- 47:35are clearly in their like 20s still share a bedroom
- 47:40Yeah, that was pretty great. They didn't have
- 47:43Jim Morrison on the wall, though. It didn't have
- 47:46Jim Morrison on the wall. It ain't much of a
- 47:48house, but it's all they got, okay? At least
- 47:50they had. They had it. Dude, the fact that the
- 47:52dad's like, bro, we sold our house for these
- 47:55dumbasses. Come on. That dad was so sick of their
- 47:59shit. He knew. He was him. He said three years,
- 48:01I think that's all. He's like, three years is
- 48:03pretty good considering. I will agree. I do want
- 48:06to agree with Fields, though. This movie did
- 48:09attempt a lot of things and it tried to attempt
- 48:11them well. The problem isn't with the subject
- 48:13matter as much as it is the execution. Yeah.
- 48:16Yes. I think that sort of falls down a lot of
- 48:18the play. This fell into that pocket of his movies
- 48:21where he's just sort of like ham -faced and,
- 48:23you know, it came out and he's a name on it,
- 48:25but nobody went and saw it. Ham -faced. That
- 48:27is the most amazing description of that level
- 48:31of Nick K. Jackson. Just the half -lip sneer
- 48:33that he has the entire time. so like this thing
- 48:37it must have been a direct to streaming or close
- 48:40to it because it's like box was $73 ,000 or something
- 48:43like that it played in a couple theaters for
- 48:45a couple people and that's it and it feels like
- 48:48one of those it actually feels like a higher
- 48:50quality version than that but you know it does
- 48:52feel like that for sure But yeah, next up, we've
- 48:56got inconceivable, which I read one review of
- 49:00because, again, it's in the same pocket of like
- 49:02not great Nick Cage movies. And the review was,
- 49:05if you enjoy only very well written and directed
- 49:08realistic movies with real twists, stay away
- 49:10from this one. So, yeah, something good for us
- 49:14to look forward to. Yeah, nice. Anyway, if you
- 49:18are interested in supporting us, we are on Patreon.
- 49:21Thank you to our Sparkle Buddies, Josh, Josie,
- 49:23Matt, Adam, Bill, Stuart, and Willow. And to
- 49:25our Cage Dancers, John, Freeman, Nathan, and
- 49:27Cameron. And if you are in the Seattle area next
- 49:31month, April 11th, we will be doing a showing
- 49:33of Prisoners of the Ghost Land at a local theater
- 49:35here. So come join us. It should be very fun.
- 49:38It's a great, weird -ass movie from Patriot Pictures,
- 49:41apparently. Yeah. Is that all the details? Like,
- 49:44we're going to watch a movie at a local theater.
- 49:47And we're not going to tell you which one. Also,
- 49:50it's at the Beacon Cinema. This is no secret.
- 49:53It's no secret where we're doing this. You don't
- 49:57have to be in or cool. Yeah, we want people to
- 50:01show up. You should show. You can find it. Just
- 50:05knock down the doors of every local theater.
- 50:07You need the cool judge handshake if you want
- 50:08to come see this movie. Every low -budget, hole
- 50:09-in -the -wall theater. Yeah. Ooh, I'll wear
- 50:12it. This is an appropriate movie for me to wear
- 50:16one of my jumpsuits. Oh, the one with the testicle
- 50:19bombs on it? It feels very jumpsuit -y. Can we
- 50:21put testicle bombs on the balls? I don't. Please
- 50:26don't. All right. Thanks, Fields. Of course.
- 50:29Anytime, guys. You got anything coming up, Fields?
- 50:31You want to plug? Oh, yeah. Plug away. Well,
- 50:35it is tournament season. If anybody that is listening
- 50:39to this is an FGC aficionado and they're following
- 50:42various events that are happening around the
- 50:45world i'll be at texas showdown uh in houston
- 50:48texas this march 25th till march 31st and then
- 50:54i'll be in las vegas for vegas climax from april
- 50:562nd to april 6th i believe and then i'm gonna
- 51:01be possibly in japan for evil japan and first
- 51:05weekend of may i don't have a date for that yet
- 51:06and then chicago at the end of may memorial day
- 51:10weekend for a and then vegas again in the end
- 51:15of june 25th for evo and i think i'm done after
- 51:18that maybe hell yeah yeah cool thanks for being
- 51:22here thanks for listening everybody and we'll
- 51:24see you next time nick looking so damn cozy is
- 51:39got is really throwing me off my game I'm kind
- 51:41of jealous. You know what? That's it. Pants are
- 51:45coming off. I'm going to drink all their coffee,
- 51:46too. I'm going to drink all their coffee because
- 51:48I don't have any alcohol in this room, weirdly
- 51:50enough. But yeah, I'm just going to drink all
- 51:53of it. How lame. Yeah, Pete's going to be real
- 51:55upset in the morning. How's that Canadian coffee?
- 51:58It's, you know, fine. It's not like a Keurig,
- 52:02but it's, you know, a Keurig. It's cheap. It's
- 52:06free in the room. A Keurig? No, that's nothing.
- 52:12Boo. I appreciated the attempt, but...
