- 0:07Dealing with an avoidant X feels impossible.
- 0:10I know one minute it seems like you'll never get them back, and
- 0:14then the next they give you just enough hope to believe that they
- 0:17might return only to pull away again.
- 0:20I know it's a cycle that can drive anyone crazy, and that's
- 0:24why you see so many negative comments about avoidance under
- 0:29videos like this. But here's the thing, you
- 0:33actually have more power than you realize.
- 0:36And once you understand how avoidance work, you'll see that
- 0:39getting them back isn't about chasing them, it's about doing
- 0:43the exact opposite. So stay tuned and I'll tell you
- 0:46what you need to do. Hi, this is Lucia with The Art
- 0:49of Love. I'm a dating and relationship
- 0:51expert specializing in helping you get your ex back or to get
- 0:54over your ex. And welcome back my beautiful no
- 0:57contact army. Have you been a good little
- 1:00soldier? If you have, then you've
- 1:01downloaded my app Silencio to help you stay in no contact.
- 1:05The video for that is underneath every single video and podcast.
- 1:08And if you're new here and you too would like to join our
- 1:11beautiful No contact Army, just hit the subscribe button and
- 1:15you're in. And to read our manual, go to
- 1:18nocontactsecrets.com where you can read 2 free chapters before
- 1:22you purchase the book. OK, so why do avoidance behave
- 1:26like this? Why do they give you hope and
- 1:29then disappear? It all comes down to comfort and
- 1:33space. Here's the best way to picture
- 1:36it. Imagine that every avoidant
- 1:39walks around with an invisible bubble around them.
- 1:42And that bubble is about three feet wide emotionally.
- 1:47Not physically, but emotionally. Inside that space, they feel
- 1:51safe and comfortable. Now, as long as you stay outside
- 1:56of that bubble, everything feels balanced.
- 1:59They can breathe, they can relax.
- 2:02The relationship works. But the moment you step too far
- 2:08into their bubble by demanding reassurance, chasing, pushing
- 2:13for more closeness, and they're ready, they feel suffocated.
- 2:17It's like you're crowding them emotionally.
- 2:20And their instinct, OK, their instinct is to back up really
- 2:28quick in order to restore that comfort zone.
- 2:31So if you close in to let's say 2 feet or even worse, 1 foot,
- 2:37they will immediately retreat until they're at least three
- 2:42feet or maybe even more away from you again.
- 2:44And This is why avoidance seem to run hot and cold.
- 2:48It's not always about you personally, it's about
- 2:51protecting that emotional bubble around them.
- 2:54Now here's the flip side. If they pull away and you don't
- 2:59chase, if you respect that invisible 3 foot bubble, they'll
- 3:04eventually realize you're not threatening their space, and
- 3:08that's when they feel close enough or safe enough to move
- 3:11closer to you. Now here's where you and your
- 3:15behavior come in. If you can handle things the
- 3:20right way, you can completely change the dynamic.
- 3:24But if you let your anxiety take over, you're only going to push
- 3:28them further away. And most people with an anxious
- 3:32attachment style immediately rush towards your partner when
- 3:35there's a problem with an avoidant.
- 3:38That instinct backfires. The key is to resist it, as hard
- 3:42as it is, I know. So instead of running after
- 3:45them, stand still. Or even better, take a step
- 3:49back. And that gives them the space
- 3:51they crave and the chance to come towards you.
- 3:55Now this is where your own growth becomes essential.
- 4:00Because the best thing you can do after a breakup with an
- 4:03avoidant. Or well, with anyone really, is
- 4:06to work on becoming more secure. People with secure attachment
- 4:10style don't rely on someone else for happiness or validation.
- 4:14They know their worth, whether they're in a relationship or
- 4:18they're not, because their confidence comes from within.
- 4:21And when you build that up within yourself, you won't feel
- 4:25desperate to chase. You won't crumble when someone
- 4:28pulls away. It's all about self worth.
- 4:31So if somehow yourself worth was diminished, probably in
- 4:36childhood, you know, I'm sorry to hear that, but it's now your
- 4:40responsibility to work on it. So instead, you want to stay
- 4:44composed and calm. And that's the energy that draws
- 4:49an avoidant back. And that brings us to the most
- 4:53powerful tool you have, which is of course, no contact.
- 4:57And this is usually the last thing an avoidant expects,
- 5:00especially if you've been anxious in the past.
- 5:03They're used to you reaching out, chasing them, so when you
- 5:06stop it shakes up the whole dynamic.
- 5:10And at first they may feel relieved, but over time they
- 5:13start to wonder, did I make a mistake?
- 5:16Did I end things too quickly? Why aren't they chasing me like
- 5:19before? So by not closing the gap, by
- 5:24respecting that 3 foot emotional space, you allow them to feel
- 5:29safe. And it's only when they feel
- 5:31safe that they can start to question whether they want you
- 5:34back. So no contact actually speeds up
- 5:39that process, and breaking no contact slows it down.
- 5:43And here's the best part. When contact eventually does
- 5:47happen, they'll sense your shift immediately.
- 5:52You won't be the same clingy, needy, insecure partner that
- 5:57they remember. Instead, your new energy.
- 6:00Because remember, you've worked on yourself.
- 6:02Your new aura will tell them something has changed without
- 6:06you even having to say a word. And that change is the key to
- 6:10rebuilding the relationship. So instead of wasting your time
- 6:15during the breakup by staying anxious and miserable and
- 6:19constantly checking their social media, use this as an
- 6:23opportunity. Become more secure, give them
- 6:27space. Let them come back to you.
- 6:29Because when you stop chasing, that's when they can begin to
- 6:34move closer. OK, so now I want to hear from
- 6:38you. How long have you been in no
- 6:40contact and how is it going? And if you would like my help to
