• 1:32
SPEAKER_01: Well, actually, we met at Flappers.
• 1:34
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, oh, that's right.
• 1:34
  SPEAKER_04: We're in the competition.
• 1:36
SPEAKER_01: Yes, and then you invited me.
• 1:37
SPEAKER_01: And you were third place.
• 1:38
  SPEAKER_01: You did third place.
• 1:39
SPEAKER_04: Yes, I got the bowl of fries.
• 1:42
  SPEAKER_05: Hell yeah.
• 1:42
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 1:43
SPEAKER_05: I got uh second place one time.
• 1:45
SPEAKER_05: I got a$50 gift card, two flappers, and I couldn't use it that night.
• 1:49
  SPEAKER_05: Oh my gosh.
• 1:50
  SPEAKER_05: Be another talk.
• 1:52
  SPEAKER_05: A pyramid scheme.
• 1:54
SPEAKER_01: I have gotten no place.
• 1:57
SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
• 2:01
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 2:02
SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, no, that's a fun spot.
• 2:04
SPEAKER_01: But yeah, so that's where we met, and then you were so kind to invite me to the punch out.
• 2:08
SPEAKER_04: Yes, yes, one of our first ones.
• 2:09
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was it was awesome.
• 2:10
SPEAKER_01: It was very, very fun.
• 2:12
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I love I love that spot.
• 2:14
SPEAKER_01: Have you been to Badger and Jam?
• 2:16
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, I love that spot.
• 2:18
  SPEAKER_01: It's such a cool little spot.
• 2:20
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
• 2:21
  SPEAKER_01: It's like a speakeasy.
• 2:22
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it is.
• 2:23
  SPEAKER_04: It is.
• 2:23
SPEAKER_04: That's how they describe it, but they don't sell alcohol, so it's kind of like it's like a everything but beer is available.
• 2:31
SPEAKER_04: Beer is available on a donation basis.
• 2:33
  SPEAKER_01: That's correct.
• 2:34
SPEAKER_04: Um, legally, that's what we say.
• 2:36
SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, because otherwise you're gonna have to get a whole like you have to get licensing and I I tried to have I tried to produce a show at like a city uh like location, like a city whatever theater.
• 2:50
SPEAKER_01: And in order to get any kind of alcohol, even if I was to sell it myself, I had to get a liquor license.
• 2:55
SPEAKER_01: And then order to get the liquor license, I had to have a cater, or I had to like subdue it was all these different things I had to do, and it was just it was just out of control.
• 3:04
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I ended up saying, Well, I'm not gonna do that.
• 3:06
SPEAKER_01: And so now I understand and appreciate why it's on a donation patient basis.
• 3:10
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 3:11
SPEAKER_04: So yeah, it's uh it's been cool.
• 3:14
  SPEAKER_05: Badger's a good spot.
• 3:15
SPEAKER_05: I've been going there since I started doing comedy, actually.
• 3:17
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah?
• 3:18
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, nice.
• 3:19
SPEAKER_05: One of my one I would say like my fourth or fifth mic was Badger and J.
• 3:23
  SPEAKER_05: Nice.
• 3:23
SPEAKER_04: So you went back in the day?
• 3:24
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, way back before the construction was finished.
• 3:27
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
• 3:28
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 3:29
  SPEAKER_04: They got new management.
• 3:30
SPEAKER_05: I thought it was sketchy as shit.
• 3:32
  SPEAKER_04: It's an it's an apartment building.
• 3:34
  SPEAKER_05: Well, it's cool there.
• 3:36
SPEAKER_05: Just when they were doing the construction, oh yeah.
• 3:38
SPEAKER_05: It was I was I walked in and I was like, hey, yo, is this where I'm supposed to be?
• 3:43
  SPEAKER_04: That's fair.
• 3:44
SPEAKER_04: That's it is it is pretty weird.
• 3:46
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it is a pretty weird spot, you know.
• 3:48
SPEAKER_01: Well, I will say it was interesting because of the five people you have do the show, like do their five minutes or whatever it is.
• 3:55
SPEAKER_01: Um, one of the guys, I and I don't know how I would have reacted, but one of the guys while he was doing a set, people walked in and he kind of went sideways.
• 4:04
SPEAKER_01: Like he was not thrilled.
• 4:06
SPEAKER_01: And I'm thinking like, yikes.
• 4:08
SPEAKER_01: I mean, like, like you need to at least be like, oh hey, come on in, you know.
• 4:12
SPEAKER_01: But the guy was like, I got kind of mad.
• 4:15
SPEAKER_01: I was, I kind of thought, wow.
• 4:16
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
• 4:18
SPEAKER_04: It's like one, because there's only one way in and one way out.
• 4:21
SPEAKER_04: So it's right next to the stage.
• 4:22
SPEAKER_04: It's right next to the stage.
• 4:24
SPEAKER_04: So, you know, it is what it is.
• 4:27
SPEAKER_04: You just gotta deal with it.
• 4:28
  SPEAKER_04: That's right.
• 4:28
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it can throw you off for sure.
• 4:30
SPEAKER_01: Did you have a show last night?
• 4:31
  SPEAKER_04: No, not last night.
• 4:33
SPEAKER_04: Um, last night, what did I do?
• 4:35
SPEAKER_04: Oh, one of my friends, they did a taping.
• 4:37
SPEAKER_04: Um, but I did have a show Thursday at this commune in Topanga.
• 4:43
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 4:44
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 4:44
SPEAKER_04: It was uh it was like in the middle of nowhere.
• 4:47
SPEAKER_04: Um, like it was just probably was a great fucking show, huh?
• 4:50
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was a good show.
• 4:52
SPEAKER_04: It was a good show.
• 4:52
SPEAKER_04: It was a good show, but it was like a whole like it was just like in like the woods, and there was no cell service, and it was like it was just all white people.
• 5:00
SPEAKER_04: And I was like, bro, if my ancestors could look at me right now, they'd be like, what the fuck?
• 5:05
SPEAKER_04: It would be very what are you doing?
• 5:08
  SPEAKER_04: This is a setup.
• 5:10
SPEAKER_04: This is we come on, you should know this.
• 5:13
SPEAKER_04: But you know, they were cool.
• 5:14
SPEAKER_04: They were they're a bunch of they're a bunch of like rich hippies.
• 5:17
SPEAKER_01: Rich hippies is to penga for sure.
• 5:19
SPEAKER_05: Rich hippies, it's where all the good drugs are.
• 5:21
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, is it?
• 5:22
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I believe it.
• 5:24
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Topanga's an interesting spot, and it never has cell service.
• 5:28
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, never.
• 5:29
  SPEAKER_04: I don't even know where that's at.
• 5:30
  SPEAKER_04: It's in LA.
• 5:31
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
• 5:32
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's like in the mountains.
• 5:33
  SPEAKER_04: Okay.
• 5:34
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, gonna, I'm gonna leave that to the white people.
• 5:36
SPEAKER_05: I was picturing like San Bernardino County, like middle of nowhere type shit.
• 5:41
SPEAKER_01: No, it's like it's I would say it's kind of along the lines of you know, uh mailbox money, maybe like the parents have oh generational wealth.
• 5:54
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, generational wealth, but like in in the arts, I would say.
• 5:58
SPEAKER_01: My my impression is like like the parents might have been like a producer for like a music, you know, catalog, or like maybe they were a writer and now their kid lives off of their money, so they're artsy.
• 6:11
SPEAKER_05: That's all I'm trying to do with comedy.
• 6:13
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, generational wealth, yeah.
• 6:15
  SPEAKER_01: Nice.
• 6:16
  SPEAKER_05: It's it's possible.
• 6:18
  SPEAKER_05: It's not impossible.
• 6:20
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, absolutely.
• 6:21
SPEAKER_04: How how are you gonna do it?
• 6:23
  SPEAKER_04: What's your thing?
• 6:24
  SPEAKER_04: What's your thing?
• 6:24
SPEAKER_04: As far as like, are you gonna like you're like, I wanna make a movie, and then like that's my generational wealth, stand up, like you know, I would love to get into acting, actually.
• 6:36
SPEAKER_05: Uh I don't much have a face or body for it.
• 6:39
SPEAKER_05: I feel like I would be a good comedic actor.
• 6:43
  SPEAKER_05: Okay.
• 6:43
SPEAKER_05: Uh so I would uh love to make a movie, but the the main plan is stand up.
• 6:50
  SPEAKER_05: Stand up.
• 6:50
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I see.
• 6:52
SPEAKER_05: Get a couple specials under my belt.
• 6:55
  SPEAKER_05: That's good.
• 6:56
SPEAKER_05: Yep, and then just try and live off of that.
• 6:58
SPEAKER_05: And then I have a couple other uh investment ideas that I have um that I I think will once I have the funds to invest into it, I think we'll actually pay off pretty well.
• 7:10
SPEAKER_01: And actually, this podcast is helping him with the investment ideas.
• 7:13
SPEAKER_01: It's how to um run a Ponzi scheme.
• 7:17
SPEAKER_01: Or at least what is that what I want to do when you do it?
• 7:21
SPEAKER_01: So if you could just don't, if you could just, you know, if you give us like$10,000 right now, we can guarantee returns, and there's no risk to you.
• 7:30
  SPEAKER_05: Okay.
• 7:31
  SPEAKER_05: Oh man, that's compelling.
• 7:33
  SPEAKER_05: 500% returns, I promise.
• 7:35
  SPEAKER_05: Okay.
• 7:36
SPEAKER_04: How about how about how about you guys give me$10,000?
• 7:39
  SPEAKER_04: Okay.
• 7:39
SPEAKER_04: And I invest and then I give it back to you.
• 7:42
  SPEAKER_04: Yes, yes.
• 7:43
SPEAKER_04: So then you get under me, and then you get someone to give you$10,000.
• 7:46
  SPEAKER_04: And then you go.
• 7:47
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, I like it.
• 7:48
SPEAKER_01: A good old pyramid scam.
• 7:50
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
• 7:50
SPEAKER_04: I was gonna say a guy that's familiar with scams.
• 7:53
SPEAKER_01: Now you came from a background of finance, right?
• 7:56
  SPEAKER_04: Yes, I did.
• 7:57
  SPEAKER_04: I did.
• 7:57
SPEAKER_04: I um I did uh like basically investment banking and private equity for like two years when I was out here.
• 8:04
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh, in California.
• 8:05
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
• 8:06
  SPEAKER_04: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 8:07
SPEAKER_04: So I moved out here right after school.
• 8:09
SPEAKER_01: See, I thought maybe you were working finance back east somewhere and then got the bug and came out.
• 8:14
SPEAKER_01: So you came out first and then got the bug.
• 8:17
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, like like the bug as in stand-up, or like the bug as in like I meant you, yeah, you've been diagnosed with the bug.
• 8:23
  SPEAKER_01: No, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 8:25
  SPEAKER_04: Like, oh no.
• 8:25
SPEAKER_04: It's my turn to start over a little bit.
• 8:28
SPEAKER_01: Sorry to let you know.
• 8:28
SPEAKER_01: That's why we keep brought you here.
• 8:30
SPEAKER_04: Oh my gosh, this is this is the worst way to find this out.
• 8:34
SPEAKER_01: No, no, the entertainment bug.
• 8:36
  SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, yeah, no.
• 8:37
SPEAKER_04: I had been doing like stand-up since like college.
• 8:40
SPEAKER_04: So like I've been doing it like like five years.
• 8:44
SPEAKER_04: Um, so went to college, and then right after I got out of college, I moved out here.
• 8:48
SPEAKER_04: Um, was working in finance and did that for two years, and I realized like I d hated finance.
• 8:55
SPEAKER_04: And so then I came out and I went full time with stand up.
• 8:59
SPEAKER_04: Like, I saved money from doing finance and I just lived off that.
• 9:02
SPEAKER_04: I've been living off of that for like a year or so.
• 9:04
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 9:05
SPEAKER_05: Where are you from originally?
• 9:06
  SPEAKER_05: Uh Florida.
• 9:07
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
• 9:08
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
• 9:08
  SPEAKER_05: That's yeah.
• 9:09
SPEAKER_05: I fucking love Florida, dude.
• 9:10
SPEAKER_05: Everybody talks so much shit about Florida, bro.
• 9:13
  SPEAKER_04: They do.
• 9:14
  SPEAKER_04: It's a it's a great place.
• 9:16
  SPEAKER_04: It really is.
• 9:17
  SPEAKER_04: What part?
• 9:18
  SPEAKER_04: Orlando.
• 9:19
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
• 9:19
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 9:20
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
• 9:20
  SPEAKER_04: It's it's cool.
• 9:21
SPEAKER_04: I like Orlando, um, but I'm happy I'm not there.
• 9:25
  SPEAKER_05: That's valid.
• 9:26
SPEAKER_04: Like, it's like I do like California better.
• 9:28
  SPEAKER_05: California, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 9:30
  SPEAKER_05: I'm a huge fan of California.
• 9:32
  SPEAKER_05: Huge fan.
• 9:33
  SPEAKER_05: Huge fan.
• 9:33
SPEAKER_05: I feel like I guess I'm a huge fan of all the states people talk shit about.
• 9:37
  SPEAKER_05: Yes.
• 9:38
SPEAKER_05: People talk a lot of shit about Cali too.
• 9:40
  SPEAKER_05: You like Arkansas?
• 9:42
  SPEAKER_01: I've never been.
• 9:43
SPEAKER_05: I tell you, I drove through Arkansas.
• 9:44
SPEAKER_05: I drove across country twice, and I drove through Arkansas and then like the neighboring states, and I'd never been more scared to have weed in my car in my whole fucking life, dude.
• 9:57
  SPEAKER_05: That's real.
• 9:58
  SPEAKER_05: That's real.
• 9:59
  SPEAKER_05: Oh god.
• 10:01
SPEAKER_05: I got through to the Bible Belt on the 40, where like every other exit, there's a huge white cross, and it's like, I'm scared, bro.
• 10:10
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no.
• 10:11
SPEAKER_05: I'm driving through there in a pink sweatsuit with my fingernails painted.
• 10:14
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I was going to jail, boy.
• 10:17
  SPEAKER_05: Exactly going to jail.
• 10:18
SPEAKER_04: They just see the pink sweatshu and get them out of here.
• 10:21
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, step out of the car, sir.
• 10:23
  SPEAKER_05: Ma'am, whatever you are.
• 10:25
  SPEAKER_05: Whatever you are, sir.
• 10:27
  SPEAKER_05: Get out.
• 10:27
  SPEAKER_05: Get out.
• 10:28
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 10:29
  SPEAKER_04: And you're white, so that's yeah.
• 10:31
  SPEAKER_04: They're doing, you're scared.
• 10:32
  SPEAKER_04: I'm imagine me.
• 10:33
  SPEAKER_04: I'm freaking petrified.
• 10:36
  SPEAKER_05: Man, I know.
• 10:37
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 10:38
  SPEAKER_05: But yeah, that's cool.
• 10:39
SPEAKER_05: I haven't been in a position to use my white privilege for good yet.
• 10:42
SPEAKER_05: Hey, well, get to it.
• 10:44
  SPEAKER_05: I'm trying, bro.
• 10:45
  SPEAKER_05: I'm trying.
• 10:47
  SPEAKER_05: Get to it.
• 10:48
  SPEAKER_05: Come on.
• 10:48

  SPEAKER_05: This is California, man.
• 11:12
  SPEAKER_05: You could, yeah.

• 11:28
SPEAKER_01: Okay, I see the yeah, and uh it is a ginger, a candy ginger infused uh latte, basically.
• 11:39
SPEAKER_01: You definitely can taste the gender.
• 11:40
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I love ginger.
• 11:41
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, you do?
• 11:42
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that was the very first thing I taste.

  SPEAKER_05: This is good too.
• 11:53
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 11:54
  SPEAKER_05: Where's this place at?
• 11:55
SPEAKER_01: Uh it's in Corona del Mar on PCH.
• 11:57
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
• 11:58
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 11:58
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it's a lovely little spot.
• 12:02
SPEAKER_01: And uh it was very busy.
• 12:04
SPEAKER_01: So I went there first.
• 12:06
SPEAKER_01: Placed the order, then I went home because I ran I run a couple errands before doing the show and try to try to work out, try to do all the things, you know.
• 12:14
SPEAKER_01: And uh I thought, you know what, it feels like today's gonna be a busy day because it's so beautiful out.
• 12:19
SPEAKER_01: So I went in early and said, Okay, I'm gonna be back at this time.
• 12:22
SPEAKER_01: Can you get my stuff ready?
• 12:23
SPEAKER_01: And and it was ready to go.
• 12:25
SPEAKER_01: And yeah, my end was out the door, so thinking ahead.
• 12:28
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 12:29
  SPEAKER_05: I'm always thinking ahead.
• 12:31
SPEAKER_01: Did you say you're always thinking ahead?
• 12:34
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 12:34
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, never mind.
• 12:38
  SPEAKER_05: Think ahead, that's okay.
• 12:39
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
• 12:41
SPEAKER_01: Maybe I need to watch that back for the joke.
• 12:42
  SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
• 12:43
  SPEAKER_01: You will.
• 12:44
  SPEAKER_01: It's fine.
• 12:44
  SPEAKER_01: Okay, okay, okay.
• 12:46
SPEAKER_01: Well, so what I like to try to do in my preparing for the guest for the show is I try to think of something that the guest might find interesting or it might be like, you know, something from their background.
• 13:00
  SPEAKER_04: Okay.
• 13:00
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 13:00
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, absolutely.
• 13:02
SPEAKER_01: So today's today's topic that I have for you is um it's based in Orlando.
• 13:08
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
• 13:09
SPEAKER_05: Oh, a Florida man story.
• 13:11
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a Florida story.
• 13:12
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 13:13
SPEAKER_01: Um now, what how old are you guys approximately?
• 13:17
  SPEAKER_05: I'm 24.
• 13:18
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 13:20
  SPEAKER_01: And you're you're in your 30s, right?
• 13:22
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I'll be 36 in December.
• 13:25
SPEAKER_01: So you you could be my child, okay.
• 13:30
SPEAKER_01: Okay, so maybe you've never heard of these bands.
• 13:32
SPEAKER_01: I don't know, but have you heard of Backstreet Boys?
• 13:34
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I heard who has come on and NSYNC, yeah.
• 13:36
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, come on.
• 13:38
  SPEAKER_04: I'm a cultured man.
• 13:39
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, I mean you call you call that count culture.
• 13:44
  SPEAKER_04: I just I I like a lot of different music.
• 13:47
SPEAKER_05: I should say anything that happened in the 90s is culture.
• 13:50
  SPEAKER_05: JT.
• 13:50
  SPEAKER_05: Come on.
• 13:51
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Justin's everybody.
• 13:54
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, come on.
• 13:55
  SPEAKER_05: We know.
• 13:55
  SPEAKER_05: Come on, guys.
• 13:56
  SPEAKER_04: Well, come on.
• 13:57
  SPEAKER_01: Okay, I I lived it.
• 13:59
SPEAKER_01: And let me just say, it was a not a good time for for fashion, let's just say.
• 14:04
SPEAKER_01: Like the fashion was pretty terrible.
• 14:07
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, frosted tips, like real, like lots of gel in the hair.
• 14:11
SPEAKER_01: I have to remember that.
• 14:12
SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, no, my husband too.
• 14:14
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for sure.
• 14:15
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I see that.
• 14:16
SPEAKER_01: I see that for sure.
• 14:18
SPEAKER_01: Okay, one of the funniest was when I was in high school.
• 14:20
SPEAKER_01: This kid that was like Mexican, darker Mexican, he had black hair, black eyebrows, right?
• 14:26
SPEAKER_01: And the trend in the 90s was to dye your bleach your hair, right?
• 14:30
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and so, and he was like a really good looking kid.
• 14:33
  SPEAKER_01: He bleached his hair.
• 14:34
SPEAKER_01: Great, fine, no big deal, right?
• 14:36
SPEAKER_01: Well, then he bleached his eyebrows.
• 14:38
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, was that a mistake?
• 14:42
  SPEAKER_01: It was so bad.
• 14:43
SPEAKER_01: Oh no, yeah, and eyebrows like take a long time to grow out.
• 14:47
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, that that was that was a bad move.
• 14:50
SPEAKER_01: But that was the 90s, you know what I mean?
• 14:52
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
• 14:52
SPEAKER_01: Just like Jinkos and wallet chains.
• 14:56
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, not a good look, but not a good look.
• 14:58
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that's not the that's not the crime that we're talking about today.
• 15:02
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 15:02
SPEAKER_01: So um the the manager or the creator, Lou Pearlman.
• 15:09
SPEAKER_01: So he a little backstory on him.
• 15:12
SPEAKER_01: He's from Queens, uh, New York, and he uh decides he wants to uh get in the blimp business.
• 15:19
SPEAKER_01: So like the good you're blimp, you know, but not the good you're blimp, but like the blimps.
• 15:23
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 15:23
SPEAKER_01: And what's uh I find very interesting about him is that um he is a practicing he's practicing Jewish.
• 15:31
SPEAKER_01: Okay, so like bar mitzvah, all the high holidays.
• 15:35
  SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
• 15:36
SPEAKER_01: He partners with a guy who was in the Nazis for a few years and he was in the Air Force.
• 15:44
  SPEAKER_01: Oh wow.
• 15:45
SPEAKER_01: I think it's called like Luft Luftwaffe.
• 15:47
  SPEAKER_01: Yes, Luftwaffe.
• 15:48
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 15:49
  SPEAKER_04: How'd you how'd you know that?
• 15:50
SPEAKER_05: Well, watch a lot of World War II stuff.
• 15:53
  SPEAKER_04: Okay, sure.
• 15:55
  SPEAKER_05: Sure you do.
• 15:56
SPEAKER_03: He just knew it too quick.
• 16:00
SPEAKER_05: The very first shooter video game I played was Call of Duty 2, and it was World War II.
• 16:06
SPEAKER_05: And like the eighth mission, you have to shoot down a bunch of Luftwaffe planes.
• 16:10
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 16:11
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, the fact that my last name is Rykert has nothing to do with it.
• 16:19
  SPEAKER_05: It's Lithuanian, all right.
• 16:22
SPEAKER_04: Is that where is that where your your ancestors fled after the Nazis?
• 16:26
  unknown: Probably.
• 16:32
SPEAKER_00: No, they actually went to Argentina and said they're from Lithuania.
• 16:36
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, exactly.
• 16:37
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 16:38
SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, so no, so he was so interested in blimps, and that I guess this person was the most knowledgeable person and businessman, so he loot links up with him and he decides to go into business and he uh gets a deal with Jordash, which is a gene company back in the 80s, if you don't know.
• 16:57
SPEAKER_01: Anyways, so he has a deal, but he doesn't have a blimp yet.
• 17:00
SPEAKER_01: My understanding is, and so he takes the money from the deal with Jordash and he creates the blimp, right?
• 17:06
SPEAKER_01: First maiden voyage blimp goes down lawsuit.
• 17:10
SPEAKER_01: And I I know he gets money.
• 17:12
SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure if he gets money from Jordash, but I'm pretty sure he gets money from an insurance claim.
• 17:17
SPEAKER_01: Then he decides to move down to Florida, and he has two more blimps that he leases out.
• 17:25
SPEAKER_01: One is to McDonald's and one is to uh MetLife, and both of those within like a short time after being created, they also go down.
• 17:33
  SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
• 17:34
SPEAKER_04: This guy needs to learn.
• 17:35
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 17:36
SPEAKER_01: Well, or maybe he's doing who knows.
• 17:39
  SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
• 17:39
  SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
• 17:40
SPEAKER_01: Oh by the way, he has passed away, so I still want to say alleged, but we don't have to be alleged.
• 17:46
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't think it's as hard.
• 17:47
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 17:48
SPEAKER_01: So anyway, so he um has these business deals and he also um so he like he raised the money for the first lump, you know, whatever, and then he ends up trying to create this business and trans uh I think it's called transcontinental airlines.
• 18:03
SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, and he starts funding this with people's investments.
• 18:08
SPEAKER_01: So he's getting people to invest in this business, and it's gonna be uh airplanes.
• 18:11
SPEAKER_01: And what the idea is, he's gonna take these airplanes and he's gonna lease it out to big rock stars like you know, New Kids on the Block, Michael Jackson, etc.
• 18:20
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 18:21
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 18:22
SPEAKER_01: And um, so that's the business he's doing, and somehow along the lines, he sees New Kids on the Block and sees how successful they are.
• 18:29
SPEAKER_01: Um now that was my jam was New Kids on the Block.
• 18:32
  SPEAKER_01: That's how old I am.
• 18:33
  SPEAKER_05: So that tracks.
• 18:36
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
• 18:36
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I can see that.
• 18:38
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 18:38
SPEAKER_01: And oh, by the way, do you know like most boy bands have five members, right?
• 18:42
SPEAKER_01: So and the members are usually like one's the mysterious one, one's the heart throb, one's the talented one, you know, uh one's the youngest, smartest.
• 18:52
SPEAKER_01: Like then there's then there's the bad boy, right?
• 18:55
SPEAKER_01: The one the one bad boy.
• 18:56
SPEAKER_01: Well, in this scenario, Lou is the bad boy because once he creates so once he m decides he's done with the blimp business and he sees what's going on with new kids on the block, he decides to create Backstreet Boys.
• 19:09
SPEAKER_01: Oh and he holds us huge talent search, he finds four guys.
• 19:14
SPEAKER_01: Um, one of the guys has a has a cousin, and that becomes the fifth guy, and then he puts all this money into them learning how to you know coordinate with their songs and music produce producing and uh choreography, whatnot.
• 19:27
SPEAKER_01: But his deal with them is that he's the sixth member, so he's the bad boy, but he's not actually singing and dancing, but he created it.
• 19:36
SPEAKER_01: So basically, any kinds of money that they get down the road, he's gonna get a management fee and a and a talent fee.
• 19:44
SPEAKER_05: I was gonna say and an artist payment.
• 19:45
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
• 19:47
  SPEAKER_05: Damn.
• 19:47
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I guess they get a little bit of success at one point.
• 19:50
SPEAKER_01: I think they hit the the charts at like 68, and then they go, he sends them they they're number one in Germany, going back to Germany.
• 19:57
SPEAKER_01: Um, so he sends them to Germany and they tour around Germany and they get a lot of fan base there.
• 20:03
SPEAKER_01: They come back, but as he's uh letting them like you know get their seasoning in Germany, he comes up with this concept of every Coke needs a Pepsi.
• 20:13
SPEAKER_01: Every so every like mainstream hit needs a competitor.
• 20:17
SPEAKER_05: Like a Lowe's in a home depot type setting.
• 20:19
  SPEAKER_01: Exactly, right.
• 20:21
SPEAKER_01: So he's like, you know what?
• 20:22
SPEAKER_01: Why don't I create my own Pepsi?
• 20:24
  SPEAKER_01: So he creates NSync.
• 20:27
SPEAKER_05: So they were both created by the same guy.
• 20:29
  SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
• 20:30
  SPEAKER_05: Wow.
• 20:31
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 20:32
  SPEAKER_01: Yep.
• 20:32
  SPEAKER_01: Same deal.
• 20:33
SPEAKER_01: He's the sixth member of NSync as well.
• 20:36
SPEAKER_05: This guy might be a genius.
• 20:38
SPEAKER_05: I don't think might be is on the table.
• 20:40
  SPEAKER_05: I think he's a fucking yeah.
• 20:43
  SPEAKER_01: Really smart.
• 20:43
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 20:44
  SPEAKER_05: That's mastermind type shit.
• 20:45
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 20:46
SPEAKER_01: So so while Backstreet Boys is having all this success in Germany and they're trying to come back into America.
• 20:51
SPEAKER_01: He um they I think at one point Disney gives them an opportunity to do like a Christmas special.
• 20:57
SPEAKER_01: And Backstreet's like, you know what?
• 20:59
  SPEAKER_01: We're kind of tired.
• 21:00
SPEAKER_01: Um, we've been touring, we're not gonna do it.
• 21:03
SPEAKER_01: And they're like, okay, well, NSync's gonna do it.
• 21:05
  SPEAKER_01: And guess what?
• 21:06
SPEAKER_01: JC and JT are both from Disney, right?
• 21:10
SPEAKER_01: They both did the Mickey Mouse Club.
• 21:11
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Disney kids.
• 21:13
  SPEAKER_05: I didn't know that.
• 21:13
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 21:14
SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, you're very young.
• 21:15
SPEAKER_05: Brittany Spears, uh, a bunch of yeah, a bunch of artists were Ryan Gosling.
• 21:20
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, Carrie Russell.
• 21:22
  SPEAKER_05: What were they?
• 21:22
  SPEAKER_05: Mickey Mouse kids.
• 21:23
  SPEAKER_05: The Mickey Mouse Club.
• 21:24
  SPEAKER_05: Mickey Mouse Club.
• 21:25
SPEAKER_01: So there was back when when Disney was originally created, they did a Mickey Mouse club and they had like Annette Funichello and like all these other different people.
• 21:33
SPEAKER_01: It was like black and white, and they would wear their Mickey Mouse ears, and it'd be like an after school thing.
• 21:38
SPEAKER_01: And then uh it went away after a couple seasons, whatever, because you know the kids get older.
• 21:43
SPEAKER_01: And then in the 90s, they decided to revamp it.
• 21:46
SPEAKER_01: And it was Christina Aguilar, Britney Spears, Carrie Russell.
• 21:50
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 21:51
  SPEAKER_01: Wow.
• 21:51
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then there's a couple other people sprinkled in there too.
• 21:54
SPEAKER_01: And it was super successful, but it was only about like four or five years, right?
• 21:59
  SPEAKER_01: Jeez, yeah.
• 22:00
  SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
• 22:00
SPEAKER_01: But so J J C was on it, I think three or four years, and JT was on it for one or two years.
• 22:07
SPEAKER_01: That's how they become friends.
• 22:09
SPEAKER_01: So anyway, so they get all this, you know, popularity from being on this Disney special, whatever.
• 22:16
SPEAKER_01: And so, you know, they're both doing fine, Baxtery Boys and InSync.
• 22:20
SPEAKER_01: But eventually, this is what's interesting.
• 22:23
SPEAKER_01: One of them gets a check, or they they all get this BMI contract, right?
• 22:27
SPEAKER_01: And they get a signing bonus and it was$10,000.
• 22:30
SPEAKER_01: And one of them is like, oh my gosh,$10,000.
• 22:32
SPEAKER_01: I've never seen this much money before.
• 22:34
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 22:35
SPEAKER_01: And then JC, I guess, was like, How much money did you make last year when you were working as a waiter?
• 22:41
SPEAKER_01: And he like thought about it.
• 22:42
  SPEAKER_01: He's like, Oh, about$10,000.
• 22:44
SPEAKER_01: And so he's like, Yeah, something doesn't smell right.
• 22:46
SPEAKER_01: Like, this is not right.
• 22:48
SPEAKER_01: Because they're like, even though we signed this contract, like we're not making, we're making millions and millions of dollars for management, but we're we're only getting$10,000.
• 22:59
  SPEAKER_01: Like, something's not good.
• 23:01
SPEAKER_01: So they get attorneys involved, and um, that's when they, you know, uncover all these different things that are going on that he's the manager, and they they were kids when they signed it.
• 23:11
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and and it's kind of making a deal with the double because it's like you'll sign anything to be famous, right?
• 23:16
SPEAKER_01: I mean, because you want to get that taste, you want to get that chance.
• 23:20
SPEAKER_01: So, anyway, so they hire an attorney and there's a lawsuit, whatever.
• 23:24
SPEAKER_01: So, um they uh Lou Pearlman, the guy who we're talking about, he wants his own like splashy attorney.
• 23:31
SPEAKER_01: So he gets an attorney that is known for being Casey Anthony's attorney.
• 23:36
SPEAKER_04: Oh, I know that guy.
• 23:37
  SPEAKER_04: Yes.
• 23:38
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, what's his name?
• 23:39
SPEAKER_01: Oh, it starts with a C, like Sine or something.
• 23:43
SPEAKER_04: I can't Yeah, he also they say he also slept with Casey Anthony.
• 23:46
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
• 23:47
  SPEAKER_01: No, no, not Jose.
• 23:48
SPEAKER_01: Oh, not Jose Diaz, I think is the guy or Jose the Hispanic guy.
• 23:52
  SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
• 23:53
SPEAKER_01: This is her first attorney.
• 23:54
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
• 23:54
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so it's her attorney for the first two years of her trial.
• 23:57
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 23:58
SPEAKER_01: He has a Casey Anthony joke, by the way.
• 24:00
SPEAKER_01: So because he's like, if his kids are acting up, he's like, I'm gonna have Casey Anthony babysit.
• 24:07
SPEAKER_01: So this is a two for I have a I have a story for both of you today.
• 24:11
  SPEAKER_02: Casey Anthony.
• 24:12
SPEAKER_01: So, okay, so this guy, can I give you guys a tip to add to the list?
• 24:16
SPEAKER_01: You know who you should never go into business with?
• 24:19
  SPEAKER_01: An attorney.
• 24:21
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, really?
• 24:22
  SPEAKER_05: Wait a minute.
• 24:23
  SPEAKER_05: Wait, yeah.
• 24:24
SPEAKER_01: Well, you're not really in business.
• 24:25
  SPEAKER_01: I mean, we're we're this is like a partnership, so it's a little bit different.
• 24:28
  SPEAKER_01: I guess that's fair.
• 24:28
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 24:29
  SPEAKER_01: I'll let it slide.
• 24:30
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 24:35
  SPEAKER_05: Well, actually.
• 24:38
  SPEAKER_03: But wait a guy.
• 24:40
  SPEAKER_03: You're too late, brother.
• 24:44
  SPEAKER_00: Plot twist.
• 24:46
  SPEAKER_00: Surprise, here's your paperwork.
• 24:49
  SPEAKER_03: Oh no.
• 24:50
SPEAKER_01: No, so this guy, so he, so Lou Pearlman, the guy we're talking about, the created Backstreet Boys, all that, he has this attorney, and the attorney gets into an agreement with Backstreet Boys and Instincts where they're gonna pay him out.
• 25:02
SPEAKER_01: They're gonna buy out, buy themselves out of this contract for the tune of$64 million.
• 25:08
  SPEAKER_02: Ooh.
• 25:08
  SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
• 25:10
  SPEAKER_01: I don't know how it's structured.
• 25:12
  SPEAKER_01: I don't know how it's structured.
• 25:14
SPEAKER_01: I think he still might be considered the sixth member, but yeah, it's a lot, it's a lot.
• 25:17
SPEAKER_01: But I mean, they're making so much money too, honestly.
• 25:20
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they make so much money.
• 25:21
  SPEAKER_04: I don't care.
• 25:21
  SPEAKER_04: 64 million.
• 25:22
  SPEAKER_04: 64 million, that's ridiculous.
• 25:24
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but th think about 32, 32, right?
• 25:27
SPEAKER_05: And then they probably make that so it's 32, like between the whole band?
• 25:32
  SPEAKER_01: Well, I would say it's 64 collectively, right?
• 25:34
SPEAKER_01: So it's six, yeah, not each person.
• 25:35
SPEAKER_01: It's like 6.4, but it's Backstreet Boys and NSYNC owe him 64 million to buy him out.
• 25:41
  SPEAKER_04: So that's 10 people.
• 25:42
SPEAKER_04: What is that, like 6.4 million a person, basically?
• 25:46
SPEAKER_05: Chum change for them, yeah, absolutely.
• 25:50
SPEAKER_05: When like Millennium, and then what was NSync's 2000 rec?
• 25:54
SPEAKER_05: I forget what it was called, but no strings attached or something, or yeah, no strings attached, that's what it was called.
• 25:59
SPEAKER_05: And they they went fucking like diamond almost or whatever.
• 26:02
SPEAKER_05: So it's like they have the bread, right?
• 26:05
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, um, and by the way, he's created O Town, he he produced Brooke Holgan, he produced Aaron Carter, he produced something called Innocence, which I guess Britney Spears was in before she decided to leave and do her own solo career.
• 26:19
  SPEAKER_05: I didn't know that.
• 26:20
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he produced a ton of different musicians.
• 26:23
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
• 26:24
  SPEAKER_04: What's he look like?
• 26:25
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, he is.
• 26:26
  SPEAKER_04: He's a very ugly man.
• 26:27
  SPEAKER_04: I'm curious.
• 26:28
  SPEAKER_04: What's his name?
• 26:30
  SPEAKER_04: Oh god.
• 26:31
  SPEAKER_01: Lou Perlman.
• 26:33
SPEAKER_01: I probably should have said it from the beginning.
• 26:34
  SPEAKER_01: But anyways, yeah, yeah.
• 26:36
SPEAKER_01: So so he um so he has this deal with his attorney that 64 million, he's gonna get paid, right?
• 26:43
SPEAKER_01: So his attorney did the contract on what's called a contingency fee.
• 26:47
SPEAKER_01: And in case you don't know what that is, that's oh yeah, he looks like a piece of shit.
• 26:51
SPEAKER_05: Oh he has no neck.
• 26:54
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that motherfucker got two sets of shoulders, and one of them got love handles.
• 27:01
  unknown: Nice.
• 27:02
SPEAKER_04: Looks like that guy from um 90-day fiance.
• 27:07
  SPEAKER_04: You're my best view.
• 27:09
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 27:12
SPEAKER_01: Is that the guy with no neck?
• 27:13
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the guy.
• 27:13
SPEAKER_01: Okay, he lives in San Diego.
• 27:14
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, does he?
• 27:15
SPEAKER_01: I used to live in San Diego and I would see him all the time.
• 27:18
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 27:18
SPEAKER_01: I'm going to San Diego today, sontown, little, little Italy.
• 27:26
SPEAKER_01: Um, so uh, oh, so the he has this deal with the with the attorney, right?
• 27:31
  SPEAKER_01: Like a contingency fee.
• 27:32
SPEAKER_01: So he didn't pay the attorney hourly.
• 27:34
SPEAKER_01: The agreement is attorney, you get a percentage of whatever.
• 27:40
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
• 27:41
  SPEAKER_04: Good for the attorney.
• 27:42
  SPEAKER_01: 25%,$16 million.
• 27:44
  unknown: Dang.
• 27:45
  SPEAKER_01: Right?
• 27:46
  SPEAKER_01: God dang.
• 27:47
SPEAKER_01: But Lou only paid him one and a half million dollars.
• 27:52
SPEAKER_01: So the attorney's like, no, time to pay the piper.
• 27:58
SPEAKER_01: So he's like, I'm gonna sue you.
• 28:00
SPEAKER_01: Now, I'm gonna tell you if someone like that is gonna sue you and you're doing wrong, you need to pay that person immediately.
• 28:07
SPEAKER_01: Because the last thing you want to do is have your books opened.
• 28:10
SPEAKER_01: Because once your books are opened, there's gonna be trouble.
• 28:13
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 28:14
SPEAKER_05: So basically Especially if you've broken rule number one.
• 28:17
SPEAKER_05: Living beyond your no, not paying your taxes.
• 28:21
  SPEAKER_05: I see.
• 28:21
SPEAKER_01: I thought that was number two.
• 28:22
SPEAKER_01: We keep criminal, we have like these rules like so don't live beyond your means, make sure you pay your taxes, and then you're probably gonna be okay.
• 28:28
  SPEAKER_05: But clean that shit.
• 28:30
SPEAKER_01: But no, he was living way beyond his means.
• 28:32
SPEAKER_01: Like he had a massive house on the water, lots of boats, lots of cars.
• 28:36
SPEAKER_01: You know, he was first they were playing, not even first class, I think they're like chartering jets to go everywhere.
• 28:42
  SPEAKER_01: Jesus Christ.
• 28:43
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so anyway, so yeah, so he owes that attorney 16 million dollars.
• 28:47
SPEAKER_01: That attorney is not gonna let it go, and he's going after him, right?
• 28:50
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, nobody's letting what he what did he pay him?
• 28:52
SPEAKER_05: One and a half, one and a half, 14 and a half left over, like yeah.
• 28:56
SPEAKER_01: But then he tries to then send him a check from a bank in Germany, back to Germany, and it's$1.5 million.
• 29:04
SPEAKER_01: And the the attorney's like, this doesn't look right.
• 29:06
  SPEAKER_01: Turns out it's a forged document.
• 29:09
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 29:10
SPEAKER_05: So for the original 1.5?
• 29:12
SPEAKER_01: No, for the next one.
• 29:13
  SPEAKER_01: Okay, okay, okay, okay.
• 29:15
SPEAKER_01: So fast forward, this Lou was running a Ponzi scheme twofold.
• 29:21
SPEAKER_01: The first way is he's having all these people saying, Invest in my business, inner uh transcontinental or whatever it was called, you know, the airplane business.
• 29:31
SPEAKER_01: And also he's showing them, look how much success I have with these boy bands.
• 29:35
SPEAKER_01: So you're gonna, you know, you're gonna make all this money.
• 29:37
  SPEAKER_01: It's foolproof.
• 29:39
SPEAKER_01: He's running that, but he's not actually investing their money.
• 29:43
SPEAKER_01: And by the way, there's no airline, there's no airplanes.
• 29:47
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 29:48
SPEAKER_01: So while he's doing that, he also is running a bank scheme.
• 29:53
SPEAKER_01: So he's going to different banks and being like, hey, I have this money in this bank, give me a loan.
• 30:00
SPEAKER_01: But he didn't have the money in that bank.
• 30:01
SPEAKER_01: So he's getting money from one bank to pay off the loan from another bank, and he just takes a little bit off the top.
• 30:08
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 30:08
SPEAKER_01: So he ends up scamming something like thousands of people for the Ponzi scheme,$300 million.
• 30:16
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, god damn.
• 30:18
SPEAKER_01: For the bank scheme,$200 million.
• 30:21
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 30:23
SPEAKER_05: And this is like 90s, early 2000s, right?
• 30:26
  SPEAKER_01: Over 30 years.
• 30:27
SPEAKER_01: It's one of America's longest, if not the longest, Ponzi scheme.
• 30:30
  SPEAKER_04: Holy shit.
• 30:32
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 30:32
  SPEAKER_04: It's all connected.
• 30:33
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 30:34
SPEAKER_01: So he ends up getting charged uh with like male, I think, I don't know if it was mail fraud, but definitely conspiracy, uh, forgery, uh, etc.
• 30:43
  SPEAKER_01: 25 years.
• 30:44
SPEAKER_01: And the judge goes, if you for every million dollars you pay back to your victims, we'll take a mil uh a month off of your sentence.
• 30:53
  SPEAKER_04: A month.
• 30:53
  SPEAKER_04: Just 25 years?
• 30:55
  SPEAKER_04: That's all I guess.
• 30:56
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, 25 years.
• 30:58
  SPEAKER_04: That's a long time.
• 30:59
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 30:59
SPEAKER_01: He ends up dying in in in prison.
• 31:03
SPEAKER_01: I think after about eight years.
• 31:04
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he had like a and based on that picture, I'm sure I'm some I bet you won't be surprised to find out that he had a heart failure, basically.
• 31:12
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that makes sense.
• 31:14
  SPEAKER_04: Jeez.
• 31:15
SPEAKER_05: You think he would lose some weight in prison?
• 31:18
SPEAKER_05: Fucking heart couldn't pump through all that cholesterol.
• 31:20
SPEAKER_05: Hell no, he had money.
• 31:21
SPEAKER_05: He was probably eating good.
• 31:22
SPEAKER_05: I guess I don't know if they seized, they probably seized as all his assets.
• 31:26
SPEAKER_01: So he did own buildings, he owned a house.
• 31:28
SPEAKER_01: So they were able to recover something like I think 10 million, maybe 20 million dollars.
• 31:32
SPEAKER_01: But some change compared to what he stole, yeah.
• 31:34
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for sure.
• 31:35
  SPEAKER_01: For sure.
• 31:36
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 31:37
SPEAKER_04: Who was do they know who he was stealing from?
• 31:39
SPEAKER_04: Was it like other rich people?
• 31:41
SPEAKER_01: Uh everybody, just mostly friends and family.
• 31:43
SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, because he was like really yeah, a lot of friends and family.
• 31:48
SPEAKER_05: And like, like you said, he's getting a cut from Backstreet Boys, he's getting a cut from fucking NSYNC, like this that just goes to make my point that people really do this shit for the love of the game.
• 32:00
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 32:01
SPEAKER_05: Because he's got good revenue streams coming in, right?
• 32:04
SPEAKER_05: And it's just not enough.
• 32:06
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 32:06
  SPEAKER_04: That's crazy.
• 32:07
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's why Fetty Wap went to jail for selling drugs.
• 32:10
SPEAKER_05: People just love to do what they do.
• 32:14
SPEAKER_05: I'm telling you, bro, Fetty Wap was getting paid off of Trap Queen and was still selling dope for the love of the game, right?
• 32:22
SPEAKER_01: What's crazy too though is so he he ends up um what my understanding is he kind of gets an idea that this that the FBI is gonna raid him, I think.
• 32:31
SPEAKER_01: And so about three to six weeks before the FBI raids his businesses, he goes to Europe because he's telling people, oh, I'm gonna go to Europe because I have money in um my banks there, and I'm gonna go in person to get the cash and I'm gonna bring it back.
• 32:46
SPEAKER_01: So he leaves and he goes with one of the members from one of the bands that he had produced because that guy, innocently enough, is like, I want to be a businessman, I want to get into the music industry.
• 32:59
SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna basically, you're gonna be my mentor, I'm gonna follow you.
• 33:02
SPEAKER_01: So they go to Europe, they hop around in Europe.
• 33:05
SPEAKER_01: He's not picking up any cash, by the way.
• 33:07
SPEAKER_01: And and the guy that's with him has no idea that this is even really happening.
• 33:11
SPEAKER_01: And then they end up in uh Bali.
• 33:14
SPEAKER_01: And I guess while they're in Bali, the guy starts reading all these like newspapers articles about what's going on with Lou.
• 33:20
SPEAKER_01: Like, no, yeah, and he's but he said, you know, he's been sued before, so I didn't really and he's gotten out of it.
• 33:24
SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, oh, it's just another person suing them.
• 33:27
SPEAKER_01: And then he's like, then he realized at one point Lou's like, does this look like a forgery or does this look real?
• 33:31
SPEAKER_01: Like, and then he's like, I gotta go.
• 33:33
  SPEAKER_01: So yeah, yeah.
• 33:35
SPEAKER_01: And then I guess there was also like a couple different uh journalists in the Orlando area that were writing articles about the fact that family members were trying to get money, friends and family were trying to get money out of their investments, and they were getting the runaround, and then that's when it kind of started unraveling as well.
• 33:52
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, pretty, pretty crazy, huh?
• 33:55
  SPEAKER_05: That's a fucking insane story.
• 33:57
SPEAKER_01: And it was also crazy too is this guy created a book on like, look at me, blimps, bands, and billions.
• 34:03
SPEAKER_01: Like you can run a business like me.
• 34:04
SPEAKER_01: And one of the stories that he tells is like the Coke Pepsi thing.
• 34:08
SPEAKER_01: So it seems like, yeah, he's a really smart business guy.
• 34:11
SPEAKER_01: He was really smart, but he's also doing really bad things.
• 34:14
SPEAKER_01: So I feel like yeah, it should have it should have been like something like uh like breach, bankruptcy, and bullshit.
• 34:22
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 34:23
SPEAKER_04: That's the one he writes in jail.
• 34:24
  SPEAKER_04: Yes.
• 34:25
  SPEAKER_04: That's the facts.
• 34:26
  SPEAKER_04: Yes.
• 34:26
SPEAKER_04: When you started the story, I I didn't know it was gonna turn to this.
• 34:31
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, like I was like, okay, all right, in sync.
• 34:33
SPEAKER_04: I was I didn't know where we're going, but I'm happy that I know this and that Orlando could contribute to this man's downfall.
• 34:41
  SPEAKER_01: Well, that's Otown, right?
• 34:43
  SPEAKER_01: OTAN.
• 34:44
  SPEAKER_03: Oh, do your research.
• 34:47
  SPEAKER_03: Yes, yes, yes, yes.
• 34:50
  SPEAKER_04: 407.
• 34:51
SPEAKER_01: Yes, but now the big expert, so yeah, yeah.
• 34:55
SPEAKER_04: That is that's shout out to Cam Patterson.
• 34:57
  SPEAKER_04: He's a he's a hilarious guy.
• 35:00
SPEAKER_01: I I got to see him at Urvine Improv.
• 35:02
  SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
• 35:03
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, just I could I couldn't stop laughing.
• 35:06
SPEAKER_01: Like, you probably would have died because you wouldn't you're breathing.
• 35:10
  SPEAKER_01: I I couldn't catch my breath.
• 35:12
  SPEAKER_01: He was so funny.
• 35:13
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was great.
• 35:14
SPEAKER_04: You know, he actually we started commie like the exact same day.
• 35:17
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, really?
• 35:18
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and uh yeah, and yeah, he was like, he got me on one of my first shows.
• 35:26
  SPEAKER_04: Really?
• 35:27
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
• 35:28
  SPEAKER_04: He's uh he's a he's a very good guy.
• 35:30
  SPEAKER_01: That's cool.
• 35:30
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 35:31
  SPEAKER_01: Wow.
• 35:31
SPEAKER_01: Well, maybe he can get you on SNL.
• 35:33
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 35:35
  SPEAKER_01: I'm good.
• 35:38
SPEAKER_04: No, I will take anything.
• 35:40
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 35:42
SPEAKER_01: I will say though, I so I got to see him at the mothership, and he did he he took a risk on stage, I'll tell you.
• 35:48
SPEAKER_01: So it was a big risk.
• 35:51
SPEAKER_01: So we're in so at the mothership, they have the two two rooms.
• 35:54
SPEAKER_01: They have, I think it's the fat man and the little boy, something like that, right?
• 35:58
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
• 35:58
SPEAKER_04: So that's what the rooms are called.
• 36:00
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 36:01
SPEAKER_01: So they're they're based off of people in Texas.
• 36:03
  SPEAKER_04: That's what they are.
• 36:05
SPEAKER_01: Well, it's actually based on my understanding is it's based on the nuclear bombs that were dropped.
• 36:12
SPEAKER_01: They were called the fat man and the little boy, I think they're called.
• 36:15
  SPEAKER_02: I didn't know that.
• 36:16
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because apparently they think I think that the thought is is once that those were dropped, then alien life form became more prevalent.
• 36:26
SPEAKER_01: Like because the whole theme of the mothership is space, yeah, right?
• 36:31
SPEAKER_01: Because it's the mothership of aliens, right?
• 36:34
SPEAKER_01: Anyway, so we were in the smaller room, I think it's called Little Boy, and um so there's probably like a hundred people, and uh it was actually a lot of international people in the front row, like so England, like like from Britain and Germany and Netherlands, and I think Denmark or maybe Norway, one of the two, right?
• 36:52
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and so imagine these countries they don't have guns like we do, right?
• 36:58
SPEAKER_01: So uh they did bottom of the barrel, and it's basically like a come out comic has like like eight minutes.
• 37:04
SPEAKER_01: They go up to the middle of the room and then they pull prompts out of a barrel.
• 37:09
SPEAKER_01: The prompts had been written by the guests in the room.
• 37:12
SPEAKER_01: And Cam comes up there and he's like he pulls up like he's wearing a bandana, like he's like gonna rob somebody, and he pulls his gun out and he starts like pointing it at people, but it's like a fake gun.
• 37:27
  SPEAKER_05: He's freaking crazy.
• 37:28
SPEAKER_05: That's gotta be the most American joke I've ever heard.
• 37:31
SPEAKER_01: But I'm like these poor little like people from other countries that don't know like they're like they don't deal with guns at all.
• 37:38
SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
• 37:38
SPEAKER_01: They're probably like, oh my god, this is the real American experience.
• 37:41
SPEAKER_04: This is the real American, yeah.
• 37:43
  SPEAKER_04: That's hilarious.
• 37:44
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it was it was, I mean, he he really took it there.
• 37:48
SPEAKER_01: Like he really made you think like he was gonna rob you.
• 37:51
SPEAKER_01: And then he's like, I'm just kidding, no, I'm just kidding.
• 37:53
SPEAKER_01: And he's like all like laughing and sweet, but like at first I was like, whoa, it was kind of shocking.
• 37:58
  SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna lie.
• 38:00
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 38:02
SPEAKER_04: I could see him doing that.
• 38:03
SPEAKER_01: He was taking a risk, yeah.
• 38:06
SPEAKER_04: That's fucking hilarious to me.
• 38:08
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
• 38:10
  SPEAKER_04: That that's fucking comedy.
• 38:11
  SPEAKER_04: He's a he's a hilarious guy.
• 38:13
  SPEAKER_04: It's funny.
• 38:14
SPEAKER_04: Uh one of when when I first started doing stand-up, he had started like the same time, and uh he was like, I was like, I was going to college.
• 38:24
SPEAKER_04: So like I was like, I'm not I'm not taking this super seriously.
• 38:27
  SPEAKER_04: Super super serious.
• 38:28
SPEAKER_04: Like, I'm like, I like it, but you know, it's not that serious.
• 38:30
SPEAKER_04: So he kept being like, he's like, hey, you should drop out of college.
• 38:34
SPEAKER_04: Me and you, we just go do stand-up.
• 38:37
  SPEAKER_04: I was like, nah.
• 38:41
SPEAKER_04: And then um, yeah, he just he kept going and kept going.
• 38:44
SPEAKER_04: And so every time he comes back now, he'll be like, I told you you should have dropped out of college.
• 38:49
SPEAKER_04: Look, you could you could be with me.
• 38:50
SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, I get that, but you know, I think it was still like my path was a little different.
• 38:58
SPEAKER_04: But it is funny because every time he comes back, he does rub it in my face.
• 39:02
  SPEAKER_01: No, I I get it.
• 39:03
SPEAKER_01: It's it's because that's such a small chance that you're gonna make it that it's like you want to have something to fall back on.
• 39:09
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, for sure, for sure.
• 39:10
SPEAKER_04: But I do think a part of it is like also like that guy was like working all the time, like every time doing a mic, doing a mic every single night.
• 39:20
SPEAKER_04: Like the dedication pays off, dedication pays off, and it was just like you know, it's just like some people you see them and you're like, oh, this was just their time, like this was just their thing.
• 39:30
  SPEAKER_04: So yeah, yeah.
• 39:31
SPEAKER_04: Um, but yeah, it is pretty funny.
• 39:33
  SPEAKER_01: Um that's awesome.
• 39:34
  SPEAKER_04: So yeah.
• 39:35
SPEAKER_01: Well, Tonyo, um, what was your backup plan?
• 39:39
  SPEAKER_05: I don't have one.
• 39:40
  SPEAKER_05: Okay.
• 39:41
SPEAKER_05: I'm either gonna be a successful comedian or a bum.
• 39:44
SPEAKER_05: All right, yeah, that's that's the plan.
• 39:47
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I like it.
• 39:48
  SPEAKER_01: All or nothing.
• 39:51
  SPEAKER_01: I love it.
• 39:52
SPEAKER_05: But I also believe in myself that much that like like I'm I'm going to school right now to be an addiction counselor, but that's like it's not necessarily a backup plan, it's just something that I want to do with my life.
• 40:04
  SPEAKER_01: It's a passion.
• 40:05
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 40:06
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 40:07
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 40:07
SPEAKER_05: If I could just take one kid off the streets, you know what I mean.
• 40:10
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's it.
• 40:11
  SPEAKER_05: That's uh that's the goal there.
• 40:13
  SPEAKER_05: That's that's noble.
• 40:15
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 40:15
  SPEAKER_05: Noble.
• 40:16
  SPEAKER_00: Well, what's your stories?
• 40:18
SPEAKER_05: Uh I didn't have like a scam or a scandal or anything for the week.
• 40:22
SPEAKER_05: It's just something that I've thought was kind of funny.
• 40:25
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 40:26
SPEAKER_05: Uh, I don't know if you guys have seen the video of the lady that got pulled over for being on her cell phone.
• 40:31
SPEAKER_01: Oh, with the missing hand.
• 40:33
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 40:33
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 40:34
  SPEAKER_05: Have you seen this?
• 40:35
  SPEAKER_05: No.
• 40:35
SPEAKER_05: Dude, so the guy she released, she posted the body cam footage, and the cop pulls up and he's like, uh, I pulled you over today because uh I I saw you with your cell phone in your right hand.
• 40:47
SPEAKER_01: No, she he she heard.
• 40:48
  SPEAKER_05: Oh, and she's she doesn't have a hand.
• 40:49
SPEAKER_01: I know like not to interrupt you, I'm sorry, but I think he's like, I saw you with the cell phone in your hand, and she had her hand like down, or her arm was down, and she specifically said her right hand.
• 40:58
SPEAKER_01: I thought she asked him, and then he said her right.
• 41:00
  SPEAKER_01: Either way, either way.
• 41:02
SPEAKER_05: He specifically said, I observed you with your cell phone in your right hand, and she was like, I don't think so.
• 41:10
SPEAKER_05: And then like, so they just dropped the case and they He still wrote the ticket, though.
• 41:16
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he wrote the ticket.
• 41:17
SPEAKER_05: He still wrote the ticket, he still wrote the ticket, bro.
• 41:19
  SPEAKER_05: And she took it.
• 41:20
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, what a fucking prick.
• 41:21
SPEAKER_05: What did that court and she showed the video?
• 41:25
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, bro.
• 41:28
SPEAKER_05: They dropped it for lack of evidence.
• 41:31
  SPEAKER_05: Hilarious.
• 41:32
SPEAKER_05: Because he couldn't prove she had a phone in her writing.
• 41:35
  SPEAKER_05: Hilarious, dude.
• 41:37
SPEAKER_05: That shit is phony to me.
• 41:39
  SPEAKER_05: Where was that?
• 41:40
  SPEAKER_05: Uh you know, I don't know.
• 41:42
  SPEAKER_01: I don't remember.
• 41:43
SPEAKER_05: I don't remember, but I mean the audacity to still write that ticket.
• 41:50
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 41:51
  SPEAKER_01: I know.
• 41:52
  SPEAKER_05: And then police sometimes.
• 42:00
  SPEAKER_03: Wow.
• 42:01
SPEAKER_03: The police being a bad guy.
• 42:05
SPEAKER_05: That's never happened in history.
• 42:07
  SPEAKER_05: No, no.
• 42:11
SPEAKER_05: Uh, and then I saw another case where this police gave an ambulance driver a ticket.
• 42:20
  SPEAKER_01: Oh.
• 42:21
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, she was smashing to the hospital, lights and fucking sirens, and the police followed her all the way to the hospital when she got out to get the patient, because there's a fucking patient in the back.
• 42:35
SPEAKER_05: And when she got out, the fucking cop arrested her and wrote her like a$500 fucking ticket.
• 42:41
SPEAKER_01: Was it like an ambulance ambulance, or was it like a life, like one of those like rent ambulance?
• 42:46
SPEAKER_05: It's a it's a third-party ambulance company, but there's still if you're running lights and sirens with somebody in the back, like you're exempt.
• 42:53
SPEAKER_05: You you go to the hospital or wherever it is you're going to.
• 42:57
SPEAKER_05: And the cop fucking followed her all the way there and then arrested her, like at the hospital.
• 43:04
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 43:05
SPEAKER_05: The judge was like, every time she like was telling her story and she gave a detail, the judge was like, hold on, hold the fucking phone for a second, and made her repeat it over and over again.
• 43:17
SPEAKER_05: Uh, and then so he called down to her station because it was a lady cop.
• 43:23
SPEAKER_05: He called down to her station uh and it personally invited her to come fucking take a beratement, I guess, basically.
• 43:31
  SPEAKER_05: Oh wow.
• 43:32
  SPEAKER_05: Wow.
• 43:32
SPEAKER_05: Uh I just thought that was kind of funny and interesting.
• 43:37
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know for sure.
• 43:38
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 43:39
SPEAKER_05: I can't like what made them think like that was like like give this lady a ticket.
• 43:45
  SPEAKER_05: Why?
• 43:46
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 43:46
  SPEAKER_01: Both of them.
• 43:47
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, exactly.
• 43:48
  SPEAKER_05: In both instances.
• 43:50
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 43:50
SPEAKER_05: Where where do you get off?
• 43:52
SPEAKER_05: Like where where the the audacity is all I'm saying.
• 43:55
SPEAKER_01: I I one time got pulled over.
• 43:57
SPEAKER_01: I was literally like in stop and go traffic on Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach, and I had an emery board to file my nail.
• 44:05
SPEAKER_01: And the cop pulled me over, and he kept telling me, like, I saw you with yourself.
• 44:12
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I s like for once I didn't have it in my hand.
• 44:15
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 44:16
SPEAKER_01: And I was like, no.
• 44:17
  SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I had it.
• 44:18
SPEAKER_01: I was like, filing my nail.
• 44:19
  SPEAKER_01: Here's the emerald board.
• 44:20
  SPEAKER_01: And he's like, no.
• 44:21
SPEAKER_01: And he kept like telling me, like, just say it was in your hand.
• 44:24
SPEAKER_01: Just say it was in your hand.
• 44:25
SPEAKER_01: And I was like, no.
• 44:26
SPEAKER_01: I was like, I mean, I'm like, I possibly moved my phone.
• 44:31
  SPEAKER_01: I go, but I wasn't on my phone.
• 44:34
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 44:34
SPEAKER_01: And then he was like, well, and he's like, he just wanted to lecture me.
• 44:38
  SPEAKER_01: And I didn't get a ticket that time.
• 44:40
SPEAKER_01: I've I've done definitely gotten tickets though.
• 44:42
SPEAKER_01: But like, but that time I did not get a ticket.
• 44:44
SPEAKER_01: And I, but I've been like, I don't know what I'm supposed to do.
• 44:47
SPEAKER_01: And I have one friend who's like, if you ever get pulled over, you just have to be as nice as you possibly can.
• 44:51
  SPEAKER_01: I've tried everything.
• 44:51
SPEAKER_01: Like, you can be nice, you can be like whatever, and it doesn't matter.
• 44:56
SPEAKER_01: If they are gonna give you a ticket, they're giving you a ticket.
• 44:58
SPEAKER_01: Usually they've already started writing it by the time they pulled you over.
• 45:01
SPEAKER_05: So I got pulled over by a cop on a horse in Virginia Beach.
• 45:05
  SPEAKER_01: What?
• 45:05
SPEAKER_01: Were you in a car?
• 45:06
  SPEAKER_01: I was.
• 45:07
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it was.
• 45:10
SPEAKER_05: How'd you know he was pulling you over?
• 45:12
SPEAKER_05: Well, I was sitting at a red light and I was leaving uh a concert or whatever, and the the chick whose car I was driving, her tags were no, it wasn't her tags, it was her inspection sticker, because in Virginia you have to have you have to get a uh I think it's annually, you have to get this inspection, and then it's kind of like having the registration sticker on your car, but it's an inspection sticker that you gotta put on the front windshield, and it was bad.
• 45:40
  SPEAKER_05: And I'm fucking 17, no license.
• 45:44
SPEAKER_05: I got a gun in the car, I got like a quarter pound on me.
• 45:46
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, what?
• 45:48
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and no license, dude.
• 45:51
SPEAKER_05: I just know I'm going to jail.
• 45:52
  SPEAKER_05: Oh my god.
• 45:53
SPEAKER_05: The fuck I hear on my window and look over, and I don't even see the cop, I just see the horse.
• 45:58
SPEAKER_04: Who how does he does he like lean down on the horse to like knock on your window?
• 46:04
SPEAKER_05: And then he's yeah, I was gonna run.
• 46:07
  SPEAKER_05: Wow.
• 46:08
  SPEAKER_05: He's on a fucking horse.
• 46:09
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah, exactly.
• 46:09
SPEAKER_05: I was finna get the fuck out of there.
• 46:11
SPEAKER_05: There's no way he gets you on the horse.
• 46:13
SPEAKER_05: And he was like, pull over into this parking lot.
• 46:15
SPEAKER_05: Pull into this bar, yeah.
• 46:18
  SPEAKER_05: Pull into this bar.
• 46:20
SPEAKER_01: He was like, quit horsing around.
• 46:23
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 46:24
SPEAKER_05: And I look over into the parking lot and there's like eight cop cars.
• 46:29
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 46:29
SPEAKER_02: And you were like, hey.
• 46:32
SPEAKER_05: No, I was like, nay, I'm not running.
• 46:34
SPEAKER_05: Why do you send the horse guy to tell you to get out?
• 46:38
SPEAKER_05: Well, in Virginia Beach, they patrol on horses.
• 46:41
SPEAKER_05: Oh, like they walk up and down like the Virginia Beach strip, like on horses and shit.
• 46:45
  SPEAKER_05: Hmm.
• 46:46
  SPEAKER_05: Okay.
• 46:46
SPEAKER_05: Um, so I I pull into the parking lot.
• 46:50
SPEAKER_05: I give them my ID that says, ID, this is not a driver's license, dude.
• 46:57
  SPEAKER_05: And I got some.
• 46:58
  SPEAKER_05: I'm dirty, bro.
• 46:59
SPEAKER_05: I gotta fucking the gun I have isn't legal.
• 47:02
  SPEAKER_05: I'm 17, you know what I mean?
• 47:03
  SPEAKER_05: It was stolen.
• 47:04
SPEAKER_05: I got fucking some weed in the car.
• 47:06
SPEAKER_05: I probably had some coke on me.
• 47:08
SPEAKER_05: Like I was dirty, boy.
• 47:10
SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I just knew I was fucking going to jail.
• 47:13
SPEAKER_05: They wrote me a fixed ticket.
• 47:15
SPEAKER_05: See, you did use your white privilege.
• 47:20
  SPEAKER_04: We've come full circle.
• 47:23
  SPEAKER_04: You did.
• 47:24
  SPEAKER_04: That's crazy.
• 47:25
SPEAKER_04: You want to know something even crazier?
• 47:26
  SPEAKER_04: Yes.
• 47:27
SPEAKER_04: I've never been pulled over by what?
• 47:29
  SPEAKER_04: No.
• 47:30
  SPEAKER_01: Lucky.
• 47:30
  SPEAKER_04: I knock on.
• 47:32
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, there you go.
• 47:34
  SPEAKER_04: No, I've never.
• 47:35
  SPEAKER_04: I've never, it's never happened.
• 47:38
  SPEAKER_04: And I was surprised.
• 47:40
SPEAKER_04: I was like, okay, you know, because like before I was driving, I was like, okay, this is gotta happen all the time, you know?
• 47:46
SPEAKER_04: Uh, but no, I and I think part of the reason is because the car I I drive.
• 47:51
  SPEAKER_04: It's like a it's like a Honda Civic, you know what I mean?
• 47:53
SPEAKER_04: So I think very inconspicuous.
• 47:55
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, like it's like a so I think like the cops they look at me and they're like, okay, and the windows are kind of a little tinted, you know.
• 48:00
SPEAKER_04: And so they like see by car and they're like, okay, he's probably going to a farmer's market.
• 48:05
SPEAKER_04: So they're like, Jesus is in the guy we're looking for.
• 48:09
SPEAKER_04: This is yeah, you know, I put like a coexist sticker, you know.
• 48:16
SPEAKER_04: You know, I got how much you think I'm a nice, quiet white woman.
• 48:21
SPEAKER_04: And uh and yeah, but you know, I'm happy.
• 48:28
SPEAKER_01: I'm all right, I'm not gonna say that, but um you know you know the cemetery off of San Vicente, like uh in uh right by Brentwood, like the big cemetery off the 405.
• 48:39
SPEAKER_04: It's oh no, I think Veterans Cemetery.
• 48:42
  SPEAKER_04: I have to see, like I don't know.
• 48:44
  SPEAKER_01: It's okay, well, okay.
• 48:45
SPEAKER_01: So my friend that lives in California, she's been in California for 25 years, but she grew up in Vegas.
• 48:51
SPEAKER_01: So she has Nevada license plates on her car and she gets her car registered in Vegas because why?
• 48:57
SPEAKER_01: She likes a real tinted window, like a real tinted window.
• 49:00
  SPEAKER_01: I'm sure there's other reasons too.
• 49:02
SPEAKER_01: But when she is like, I guess there's that when she used to live off of San Pacente, she would drive through that cemetery because it would uh you'd avoid a lot of traffic going through the cemetery.
• 49:13
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 49:13
SPEAKER_01: And so but she would roll down our windows.
• 49:15
SPEAKER_01: And so I was with her one time and she's like, I'm sorry, it's like raining and it's cold, but I have to roll my windows down.
• 49:19
  SPEAKER_01: I'm like, why?
• 49:20
SPEAKER_01: She's like, Because I'll get pulled over because my tent is too dark for California.
• 49:24
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 49:24
SPEAKER_01: So, like, because different states have different, you know, yeah.
• 49:27
SPEAKER_04: But so she just drives around with her windows down like all the time.
• 49:31
SPEAKER_01: No, like she knew she's like, I know in this particular area at this particular time there's cops.
• 49:37
SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna I'm gonna roll my all my windows down because I don't want to get in trouble.
• 49:42
SPEAKER_01: So I'd rather take my chances with rain in the car than getting pulled over.
• 49:47
  SPEAKER_01: But never mind.
• 49:48
SPEAKER_01: If you don't know the if you don't know the cemetery, then I thought maybe because you're like an LA guy now.
• 49:53
  SPEAKER_01: You should know it.
• 49:53
  SPEAKER_01: It's on the 405.
• 49:55
SPEAKER_04: You want to know this interesting thing.
• 49:56
  SPEAKER_04: I don't I don't know roads.
• 49:58
SPEAKER_01: Uh you know the 405.
• 50:02
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 50:03
SPEAKER_04: I put it in Google Maps and I go.
• 50:06
  SPEAKER_04: I should know.
• 50:08
SPEAKER_04: I should know you're I should know I should know roads, but like I just learned La Cienega in Fairfax.
• 50:14
  SPEAKER_04: Okay.
• 50:15
SPEAKER_05: So I'm still You said you've only lived out here like two years, right?
• 50:18
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 50:19
SPEAKER_05: It took me almost 10 to start getting my bearings.
• 50:21
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 50:22
SPEAKER_05: So I should I should do better.
• 50:24
SPEAKER_01: Well, before we leave, I just have to know something.
• 50:26
SPEAKER_01: When you guys reference the freeways, how do you reference them?
• 50:29
SPEAKER_05: When you say like I've gotten to the point where I say the Okay.
• 50:32
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 50:33
  SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
• 50:33
SPEAKER_05: You did you don't do that?
• 50:34
  SPEAKER_05: No, I do it.
• 50:35
  SPEAKER_05: No, I'm in Virginia.
• 50:37
  SPEAKER_01: No, no.
• 50:38
SPEAKER_01: So you just say I take 405 to 10 and then No, I don't say any of that.
• 50:43
  SPEAKER_01: Oh.
• 50:44
SPEAKER_04: I just he just puts it in the GPS and goes.
• 50:46
  SPEAKER_04: I just go.
• 50:47
SPEAKER_04: I'm like, none of my friends know road either.
• 50:50
SPEAKER_04: I'm on the freeway, dog beating in 20 minutes.
• 50:52
SPEAKER_04: We we just drive, you know.
• 50:54
  SPEAKER_04: I'm like Gen Z, so it's like we don't we don't know we don't know things.
• 51:00
SPEAKER_04: We just put it in our phone and we trust our phone, you know.
• 51:02
SPEAKER_04: We never had to learn.
• 51:04
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, back my husband and I were both talking about this recently.
• 51:07
SPEAKER_01: When we were in elementary school, they'd be like, you have to learn math in your head, because it's not like you're gonna have a calculator with you in your hand at all times.
• 51:15
SPEAKER_01: And we're like I got to Yeah.
• 51:17
  SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
• 51:18
  SPEAKER_02: I know, I know I know.
• 51:20
  SPEAKER_01: Like, well, guess what?
• 51:21
SPEAKER_01: You're gonna have him on your glasses now soon.
• 51:23

  SPEAKER_04: Um shows.
• 51:32
  SPEAKER_04: Yes.
• 51:33
SPEAKER_04: Uh when is this coming out?
• 51:34
  SPEAKER_01: Probably in two weeks.
• 51:36
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 51:37
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I have a Juneteenth show, uh, Juneteenth punch out show.
• 51:41
SPEAKER_04: That's gonna be really fun.
