- 0:55SPEAKER_00: And today's episode is gonna be around affirmations.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: But they're not just any affirmations, they're they're self-compassion affirmations to show yourself some kindness.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: One of the things that if you've been following this podcast or following some of my social media posts, I talk a lot about is self-compassion.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: And what self-compassion really is, is um it's based on kindness over judgment, common humanity, and mindfulness.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Kristen Neff, who's the lead researcher in self-compassion, gives those three pillars as the pillars of self-compassion.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: And the thing that I have noticed and I have really worked with my clients on is when we can start bringing in self-compassion so much more as possible.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: You know, many people come to me for coaching and they say that they just don't believe that they can accomplish the goals that they have or they can't find that love or they they can't find that success or they feel stuck in the mud or stagnant.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: And a lot of times it's because they're holding on to old narratives.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: But those old narratives also have a lot of the inner critic and a lot of judgment attached to them.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: So when we're when we we are working towards moving ourselves forward, when we can utilize self-compassion and utilize kindness over judgment, recognize that we're in this moment in the here and now versus ruminating over the past or worrying about the future.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: And we can also recognize that we are part of this common humanity.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: People have had similar experiences.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: When we are able to embrace those things, we're able to really help move ourselves forward.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: We're able to start building our self-esteem and see our own worth from the inside out.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: We recognize that we are lovable beings and that we do deserve things like love and success.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: We do deserve what we're putting our best efforts forward for.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Most of us are so much harsher on ourselves than we are other people.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: We can find ways to become compassionate to other people and offer those other individuals that compassion and kindness, but we struggle.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: We struggle to give it to ourselves.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: In fact, oftentimes we do become our own worst enemies.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: So if we want to break free from that self-sabotaging loop, we want to break free from those old narratives, we want to start releasing some of those old narratives that our subconscious mind is running on autopilot.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Embracing this idea of self-compassion is so important.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: And if we can start bringing these things in through affirmations that you routinely use in your daily life, your own mind will start hearing it and seeing it and then starting to believe it and live it.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: And these positive statements about yourself can absolutely help overcome those self-destructive and negative thoughts, as well as that quieting the inner critic.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: So, what do I mean by an affirmation?
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: An affirmation is a positive statement about yourself that you regularly repeat.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: And you repeat it to overcome those self-critical thoughts and to foster more positive thinking.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: And when we're talking about self-compassion affirmations, we're talking about those positive statements utilizing compassion for oneself.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: It can be a great way to break those old thinking patterns.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: It can be a great way to shift the mindset.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: And if we use the affirmations effectively and we use them mindfully and choose phrases that truly resonate with you personally, then it'll start to reflect your own goals.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: So while I want to share a handful of self-compassion affirmations, what I would really challenge you to do is to listen to them and the ones that really feel like they hit you, they resonate with you, utilize those to maybe write those down and then potentially even go record them in your own voice and then put those headphones on and listen to your own voice saying those affirmations.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Because if you can start witnessing your own voice saying these things to yourself, you're going to internalize them.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: But with any affirmation, it's the one thing I will say is that there are so many affirmations out there, and a lot of them sound great, but you've really got to have that inner connection to it for it to really stick.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: But it can really help your brain internalize those affirmations as truths, and it can break some of that old patterned thinking.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: So what are some what are some of those the self-compassion affirmations that I wanted to share with you?
