- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, Adam here. And in this hypnosis session,
- 0:42you're going to be listening to hypnosis all about releasing
- 0:47anger, resentment, sadness, even frustration about the aftermath
- 0:53of a breakup. And I was working with a client
- 0:55that had really felt that they'd put everything into that
- 0:59relationship. They really gave it their all.
- 1:01And a lot of their core needs weren't met.
- 1:04They felt that they compromised too much and gave too much of
- 1:08themselves away without it being reciprocated.
- 1:12And because of that, they were feeling a lot of sadness, a lot
- 1:17of resentful feelings, and a feeling of a sense of injustice
- 1:21that somehow they were responsible for how they were
- 1:24feeling. So what this hypnosis session
- 1:27does is primarily reconnects them with a resourceful state.
- 1:32In the moment of this aftermath, they weren't feeling positive,
- 1:37they weren't feeling resourceful.
- 1:39They didn't have a sense of peace or optimism.
- 1:43So the beginning of this hypnosis session takes them back
- 1:46to a point where they really did feel that a time in their life
- 1:50where they felt wildly optimistic and kind of peaceful
- 1:54and connected. And it has a an extra level of
- 1:57disassociation. So there was a particular sofa
- 2:01that they could connect with that they really felt while
- 2:04they're on that sofa in a peaceful, meditative sense.
- 2:08There was rolling hills and a lake that was good anchors for
- 2:12them and they could also recall. Being.
- 2:15In a new country with a sense of excitement, optimism and
- 2:20positivity. And what that does is it anchors
- 2:23and rekindles, resurrects those normal pathways that are linked
- 2:28to highly emotive states that are resourced for.
- 2:32But then it's very important that we give a different
- 2:35perspective. A lot of people, when they're
- 2:37dealing with the aftermath of a relationship, tend to almost
- 2:42teleport back into a first person perceptual position, like
- 2:47they're reliving a moment of all the good things that happened.
- 2:51And obviously if the relationship ends, not
- 2:54everything was perfect. But by doing that, it can create
- 2:58a feeling of comparison where you're remembering amazing times
- 3:03of connection and and love and positivity, and then comparing
- 3:06that to not having that in the moment.
- 3:09That can feel like almost a form of grief.
- 3:12A lot of people do this in the grief cycle where they remember
- 3:15wonderful moments with someone that's no longer alive.
- 3:18And then when they reconnect with being in the present,
- 3:21they're left with this contrast that that person isn't around
- 3:24anymore. So it's really important to
- 3:27disassociate, particularly in a relationship breakup, to know
- 3:30that those good memories happened but not feel associated
- 3:34to them. But also have a look at this
- 3:38frame of, well, knowing what I now know, what would I do
- 3:41differently in that relationship?
- 3:44And what that frame does is take a lot of wisdom and experience
- 3:48from exactly the same perspective.
- 3:51And that's really important. But what's also important for
- 3:53people to feel resentful is this sense of injustice that this
- 3:57person makes me feel this way. Therefore, the locus of control
- 4:02is external while it's with them.
- 4:04There's nothing that you can do about these emotions.
- 4:07If it's a sense of what I'm feeling is natural because I've
- 4:10lost something that I valued, I can extract all of the wisdom
- 4:14about what's really important in a relationship and disassociate
- 4:17from those things that weren't so good.
- 4:20But in doing so, creating very clear boundaries and a criteria
- 4:25of what's really important in the future.
- 4:27Then it creates the possibility that in the future they could
- 4:31look back and even though that relationship didn't work out,
- 4:34they could be grateful for all of the reconnaissance that they
- 4:38elicited from that relationship. So there's a lot going on here
- 4:42and the kind of person that would benefit most is someone
- 4:45that has recently broken up and still has quite strong feelings
- 4:49connected with that previous relationship, particularly if
- 4:53it's things of a sense of injustice or lack of.
- 4:56Fairness. That could even breed
- 4:58resentment. Then you'll get more value from
- 5:00this now. It was created for an
- 5:02individual. Therefore, some of the
- 5:03suggestions would have been very suited to the person I was
- 5:06working with and might not at all be relevant to you.
- 5:09So on that basis, ignore any suggestions that don't quite
- 5:12fit. Hone into the core intentions of
- 5:16the suggestions that are helpful for you.
- 5:18And if you like the idea of working with me directly, there
- 5:21will be a link in the description or the show notes.
- 5:24Or you can visit my website, adamcox.co.uk.
- 5:27And on there you can schedule a completely free consultation
- 5:31call. We'll have a chat because it
- 5:32might be that I'm the right person to work with you and your
- 5:35specific situation. For now, though, even though
- 5:39this session was creative for someone else, it may be valuable
- 5:42or at least useful for you. O Find a quiet, comfortable
- 5:46place where you won't be disturbed.
- 5:47Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in and as you
- 6:23breathe in, breathe in a slow, long relaxing breath and as you
- 6:31exhale feel a sense of release. Any pent up emotions just feel
- 6:41like a release valve that it's leaving your body in that
- 6:48outward breath, exhaling for longer and then breathing in
- 6:55deeper and just allow that diaphragm to be awakened and
- 7:01activated. Breathing in that resourceful
- 7:05feeling of calm and relaxation and exhaling.
- 7:14Any tension, stress and worries just feel like it's slowly
- 7:22leaving your body. And I want your intuition to
- 7:30wonder that if hope had a colour, what colour would it be?
- 7:39And just imagine breathing in that colour of hope, feeling it
- 7:44going down into your lungs. Imagine your heart harnessing
- 7:52that colour of hope and distributing it to every cell in
- 7:56your body. And as you breathe out, just
- 8:01imagine a dark shadowy colour leaving your body in your
- 8:07outward breath. Any tension, any resentment, any
- 8:16anxiety, just feel it leave your body in that outward breath,
- 8:24breathing in that colour of hope and exhaling all of those dark
- 8:33shadows that represent disempowering emotions that have
- 8:40been haunting you. That's it.
- 8:45And then think of a colour of distilled confidence.
- 8:53Imagine breathing in that colour of confidence again.
- 8:58Imagine it there in your lungs. Imagine the heart taking that
- 9:02colour, making sure every cell of your body gets that
- 9:09confidence. You don't have to think about
- 9:14how your body takes in oxygen and exhales carbon dioxide, but
- 9:21just imagine there's an emotional transfusion taking
- 9:25place. Breathing in hope, breathing in
- 9:30confidence, and exhaling any anger, resentment, frustrations,
- 9:40any feelings of loss. Just allow it to leave your
- 9:44body. That's it.
- 9:48And because this emotional transfusion is taking place
- 9:53based on your breath, I want you to think of a time many years
- 9:59ago. They're lying on a leather couch
- 10:05practicing breath work, and I want you to imagine you're back
- 10:10there on that leather sofa, maybe a blanket over your knees,
- 10:19a wooden table nearby. Perhaps you remember those
- 10:25rhythms or ratios of breathing and just imagine this time
- 10:32you're breathing in those bright distilled colours of hope, peace
- 10:40and confidence. As you exhale, exhale anything
- 10:50that you know you know you can release it and want to release
- 10:57it because why would someone hold on to something painful?
- 11:05It's a teacher, but once your unconscious has learned the
- 11:10lesson, that pain is no longer needed to feel like you're
- 11:18already learning everything you can.
- 11:25Even a moment of trauma has some treasure buried deep, and as you
- 11:33extract the value, you can release any of that emotional
- 11:39pain. Just feel it leave your body and
- 11:43the. Deeper you breathe.
- 11:45The more relaxed you feel and the more relaxed you feel, the
- 11:50deeper you breathe. And as your body relaxes, your
- 11:55imagination awakens. So let's imagine that sofa and
- 12:03that table being teleported to a sunny day close to a lake with
- 12:13rolling hills. You know the ones.
- 12:19Very soon I'm going to count down from 5:00 to 1:00 and you
- 12:24will imagine drifting off into a dreamlike sleep there on that
- 12:30sofa. You did that once or twice.
- 12:36Continue to breathe in that resourceful feeling and exhale
- 12:40anything unresourceful. 5 Eyelids getting heavier. 4
- 12:47Loosening your jaw. Three, neck and shoulders.
- 12:53Start to let go of all of that tension you've been holding
- 12:56onto. Two arms and legs feel limp,
- 13:03loose, heavy, just like the limbs of a puppet with no
- 13:09strings. Two drifts down into one.
- 13:15Fill yourself, sinking deeper into that leather sofa that
- 13:20represents reflecting, learning, growth and evolution all there
- 13:27on that sofa. And then just imagine Zero
- 13:29drifting off into a dreamlike sleep.
- 13:34But in that dreamlike sleep, you're in the same place, just
- 13:39no longer in your body. Imagine standing beside the
- 13:44sofa. Just see and check just how deep
- 13:50you are. Imagine picking up one of your
- 13:52arms, feeling it limp and loose, letting it go, seeing it flop
- 13:57down by your side there on the sofa.
- 14:02And then imagine walking over to the lake.
- 14:07It's a sunny day, but I want you to imagine this lake has choppy
- 14:13waves. It's restless, not at ease, but
- 14:20as you breathe in that feeling of peace and relaxation and
- 14:27continue to exhale in that long outward breath, breath by
- 14:35breath, the lake calms. Almost like the lake is now the
- 14:45Canary in the coal mine to represent your nervous system.
- 14:50So as you regulate your breathing, those long exhales,
- 14:56notice that you have the power to calm that choppy lake.
- 15:02That's it. The waves get smaller, calmer,
- 15:12and feel that adjustment in your physical body.
- 15:16Feeling. Maybe there's some clues,
- 15:23requires less effort to breathe, less tension in the jaw, a
- 15:31lightness. Just for a moment, imagine if
- 15:34your head was like a helium balloon, light supported all by
- 15:39itself. And I want you to connect back,
- 15:47back to that feeling of peace and calm that you would feel on
- 15:54those walks around those hills and by that lake, Ideas buzzing,
- 16:00thinking of a future, all the possibilities.
- 16:07And then imagine glimpsing a future version of you that
- 16:13didn't exist yet. Just imagine seeing yourself in
- 16:20your future outside an Airbnb waiting for an Uber, and see
- 16:27that look of pride, accomplishment, optimism, and
- 16:33possibility. And when you know it's there, in
- 16:38that version of you 100% sure, let me know about nodding your
- 16:42head. Remember, it's that version of
- 16:53you. You remember the one.
- 16:59That's it. And then float into that version
- 17:03of you. You might even remember what you
- 17:07were wearing, even the pattern of the stars in the sky.
- 17:14You may remember what phone you had to place the Uber order.
- 17:23But I want you to connect without feeling of unbridled
- 17:28optimism, hope, positivity. Breathe that way.
- 17:35Now breathe the way you were breathing.
- 17:37Then connect with that feeling and scan your body for where
- 17:44that feeling of hope exists and just point to that location.
- 17:54That's it. And I want you to imagine a
- 17:57three-dimensional shape in that specific location.
- 18:02Maybe a pyramid, a cube or something else.
- 18:08Give it a colour and turn it the brightness until that colour
- 18:15starts to glow. Notice if that three-dimensional
- 18:21shape is rotating, pulsating, moving in some way, and if it
- 18:28is, just speed up the rhythm so it amplifies that feeling of
- 18:33hope, optimism, and positivity. And as it does so, you reawaken
- 18:41all of the neural pathways connected to that way of
- 18:45thinking. That's it.
- 18:50Connect a sound to it. Maybe the tonality of your inner
- 18:54dialogue back then when you were in that hopeful, positive mood.
- 19:00Maybe there was a phrase used to say.
- 19:05Maybe it had the word yes, I've got this.
- 19:08It's going to be fine. You'll know the words.
- 19:14Connect that sound to that shape, in that colour.
- 19:19Increase the size. Feel that wonderful feeling of
- 19:24hope, optimism. That's it.
- 19:31And take that feeling and imagine being back in that
- 19:34peaceful place there by the lake.
- 19:37See that logical, analytical version of you fast asleep on a
- 19:42leather couch with a blanket over your knees and stare above
- 19:49the now calm water of the lake. And on there I want you to
- 19:57imagine seeing. Seeing a three-dimensional
- 20:01hologram over the lake? You're just an observer, it's
- 20:09not you. But allow that detachment to
- 20:17give you a new level of insight. I want you to imagine seeing how
- 20:26a relationship started. You're not in your body, you're
- 20:32just watching. It's just floating over the
- 20:35lake. I want you to see all of those
- 20:43things that made it so appealing, so desirable.
- 20:53It's maybe things that your unconscious desires or that you
- 21:01thought you desired. Because as you watch, allow your
- 21:08unconscious to pan for gold, to take out those Nuggets of
- 21:17wisdom, insight, and discernment from the past.
- 21:25I want you to see those early memories that you valued not
- 21:33with a wistful feeling, but a feeling of calm detachment.
- 21:41Because you're seeing yourself appreciate those things from a
- 21:47distance. Imagine seeing perhaps what now
- 21:53would be considered of an early red flag, some representation of
- 22:04lack of alignment or incongruency.
- 22:09Again, detached. No emotion, just distilling
- 22:15wisdom. I want you to allow any
- 22:21wonderful memories to give you a feeling that this is what
- 22:30happens when you choose to go all in.
- 22:37You're not punished by it. You're rewarded because either
- 22:44you win or you learn. Holding back means you may never
- 22:51win and certainly won't learn. It's not a cause of resentment
- 23:02to want something to be exactly as you want it to be.
- 23:10I want you to feel it's an act of courage.
- 23:17I want you to see that version of you being aligned with your
- 23:23values, and as you continue to see that relationship distilled
- 23:28down into a hologram over a lake, just jump to the most
- 23:33significant moments through a lens of hindsight, knowing what
- 23:42you now know. What would, if anything, you
- 23:46have done differently? Each moment gives you the
- 23:52ability to extract all the more Nuggets of wisdom from that
- 23:59relationship. I want you to get a sands.
- 24:06Then all those moments that weren't quite right are simply
- 24:15reconnaissance, giving you now a treasure map to know exactly
- 24:24what kind of relationship is worth going all in for.
- 24:30You've not lost, you're simply more prepared now than you've
- 24:35ever been. Continue to see those moments
- 24:39and I want you to get a sense then everything you would have
- 24:49done slightly different is evidence.
- 24:54Evidence that you've extracted the value from the past, knowing
- 25:00that even resilience comes from some form of pain or discomfort.
- 25:11So any pain that you've been feeling doesn't break you,
- 25:17doesn't damage your source code, it strengthens the very nature
- 25:23of who you are. Just imagine that you've got a
- 25:29remote control, Fast forward, rewind.
- 25:34Imagine changing certain key moments to see if.
- 25:38It would ripple. Through time and make anything
- 25:40different. And if every connotation still
- 25:46means that this wasn't the right relationship for you, well then
- 25:55just allow yourself to feel that.
- 25:58To break that sunk cost fallacy requires absolute courage,
- 26:09decisiveness, determination, because so many people settle,
- 26:16so many people compromise and compromise until there's nothing
- 26:19left. But that wasn't you see the end
- 26:26the final few weeks, and I want you to feel compassion, empathy,
- 26:35understanding for that version of you.
- 26:39You did something that wasn't easy but was necessary, and I
- 26:47want you to feel feel proud of that version of you.
- 26:52And when your unconscious feels that you are extracting the
- 26:59value of that relationship. Wistfulness is simply eliciting
- 27:09what you value, and resentment is eliciting where boundaries
- 27:16were perhaps broken or not respected.
- 27:21It's all reconnaissance, and I want you to leave that hologram
- 27:28feeling a sense that at some point in the future you will be
- 27:37grateful for this pain and this past.
- 27:44Allow the hologram to dissolve. And now imagine yourself at some
- 27:50point in the future, maybe six months, a year, maybe 2 years
- 27:54from now. But I want you to see that
- 27:59future version of you with a new level of optimism.
- 28:04Hope a spring in your step. Irrefutable evidence that
- 28:12nothing was permanently broken. And I want you to see that
- 28:18future version of you in a relationship that structurally
- 28:25had all of those things that you valued, but also many of the
- 28:31things that you felt weren't met.
- 28:37See that future version of you smiling.
- 28:42See that future version of you living life at a certain
- 28:49intensity and having all of the emotional and physical resources
- 28:55to excel in that context. And imagine that future
- 29:02relationship is supportive, understanding, celebrating the
- 29:10successes, but also there for support when it's needed.
- 29:19And that future version of you would be proud of your recent
- 29:23decision and grateful of your courage to make it so.
- 29:30Imagine floating into that future version of you, feeling
- 29:35how you would feel when you're through this patch and out on
- 29:42the other side. Connect without feeling that you
- 29:47can look back on that relationship from the future
- 29:51with no resentment, no feeling of loss, no feeling of being
- 29:57broken, no anxiety, no injustice.
- 30:03But gratitude. Not fake gratitude when someone
- 30:09says they wish them well. Real gratitude, grateful that
- 30:15you went all in, and grateful that you've learned so much.
- 30:22And if you can connect without feeling that at some point in
- 30:25the future that would be absolutely true, even if you
- 30:28don't know when that would be, let me know by nodding your
- 30:30head. That's it.
- 30:47Allow the possibility, but sometimes not just good things,
- 30:53but amazing things come from bad things.
- 30:59You know that to be true, and you also know the power of a
- 31:04self fulfilling prophecy. So allow this to plant a sea of
- 31:09an idea. Not that what's happened could
- 31:13lead to good things, but that it will.
- 31:18It absolutely will. And as that belief takes root,
- 31:25you will notice more and more clues to convince you that you
- 31:30did the right thing. You didn't lose, you gained.
- 31:36You gained the reconnaissance, the resilience and the wisdom
- 31:40required to lead to a much, much better future.
- 31:47And now that seed's planted, imagine floating back to the
- 31:49lake and connect without feeling of peace, hope, optimism, fit
- 31:58with your nervous system is relaxed and calm.
- 32:03And then just imagine climbing into that version of you, fast
- 32:06asleep on a leather sofa under the blanket, and teleport that
- 32:12back all the way to a home of your past.
- 32:19Connect with that feeling, reawaken those neural pathways,
- 32:24and now it's time to leave this place.
- 32:30But allowing certain ideas to form.
- 32:38Certain ideas that the more you think about them, the truer they
- 32:41become. And the truer they become, the
- 32:44more your nervous system calms and relaxes, knowing that
- 32:51perhaps it was all necessary. Necessary.
- 32:56Your future self, your future life, your future happiness.
- 33:04It's time to leave this place in your imagination, a place of
- 33:09ideas within ideas, thoughts within thoughts, dreams within
- 33:12dreams. So take a deep breath in through
- 33:15your nose and out through your nose.
- 33:20Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes, connect and calibrate into
- 33:23the here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to
- 33:28awaken you. Starting to count 123 waking up
