- 0:00Donald Trump has lost his goddamn mind, there's
- 0:02a forklift taking out pillars of the Kennedy
- 0:04Center, and Mitch McConnell is back and better
- 0:06than ever. Now that's one way to put it. Today
- 0:13in Breaking Absurdity, the Kennedy Center structure
- 0:15is getting rammed with a forklift, Mitch McConnell
- 0:18is really making waves in his first days back
- 0:21in the Senate, and whatever this is, the First
- 0:24Lady has a totally completely normal and unremarkable
- 0:27visit to a classroom, It's breaking absurdity,

- 0:31today, but wish you had it. Ads help keep the

- 0:45notes. Now let's get into the absurdity. Hallelujah,
- 0:49he is risen to the Kennedy Center pillar over
- 0:52and over and over again. And you know who saw
- 0:54it? It was a member of the legal team for Joyce
- 0:57Beatty. You know that women that Trump screamed
- 0:59at because a judge voted to have Donald Trump's
- 1:03name barred from ever being associated with the
- 1:05Kennedy Center again. How did we get here? This
- 1:08has been going on for a very long time, but the
- 1:10recent turn of events includes a judge just ruled
- 1:13again that Trump cannot put his name on the Kennedy
- 1:16Center or any part of it. And Trump threw a temper
- 1:19tantrum. During a Kennedy Center board meeting,
- 1:22he used the opportunity to scream at Joyce Beatty,
- 1:25who is the lone ex officio lawmaker actively
- 1:28leading the legal and public challenge against
- 1:30the Trump administration's actions regarding
- 1:32the facility. Listen to what she said to Caitlin
- 1:34Collins. A source described the call as effing
- 1:38crazy. I mean, maybe you only use that language,
- 1:40but is that essentially how you would describe
- 1:42what happened today? I probably wouldn't use
- 1:44that language, but I understand what the person
- 1:48was saying. I think it would be unthinkable for
- 1:51someone to hear a president using the language
- 1:55that he used. He threw a tantrum. It was like
- 1:58an immature child. I wouldn't even want to put
- 2:01this on a child. And there you have it, the president
- 2:04acting worse than an insolent child in the words
- 2:07of Congresswoman Beatty. But just wait till you
- 2:10hear how Beatty totally reads him. He said, I
- 2:14think you're incompetent. And I said, I know
- 2:16you're incompetent. Wow. Oh, it was. And I looked
- 2:20to the chair who was chairing me, and I said,
- 2:23are we really going to do this? This is unprofessional.
- 2:27And he said he was going to hold me responsible
- 2:29if something fell out of the ceiling and killed
- 2:32someone. And I told him, I said, you're already
- 2:34killing people. We're at war. We also have people
- 2:38who are starving. You're doing this. And then
- 2:40he wanted to talk about how great he was with
- 2:42developing and he didn't know anything about
- 2:44me, but I had never done anything. This was the
- 2:47biggest thing I had done. So I reminded him that
- 2:49he had more bankruptcies than anybody in the
- 2:52room. I mean, it really went there because I
- 2:57was not going to let him, he was there in his
- 3:00role as chairman of the board. I was not going
- 3:03to let him bully me. intimidate me and the facts
- 3:08stand for himself. I don't think I've ever heard
- 3:10about a congressperson yelling at Trump like
- 3:13that so expertly and with such great comebacks
- 3:16about how many bankruptcies he's had, how incompetent
- 3:20he is, how liable he is for deaths bringing us
- 3:24into the Iran war. This woman is amazing and
- 3:28I think we need more people like her. And then
- 3:31today a reporter caught Trump outside Air Force
- 3:33One asking him why he needs his name on the center
- 3:36in the first place. Very easy question to answer
- 3:39because it's a mess. It's lost the Kennedy Center
- 3:42for many years. It's lost tens of millions of
- 3:45dollars, even hundreds of millions of dollars.
- 3:47It's a loser financially and many of the places
- 3:51like that, you know, like Carnegie Hall and the
- 3:53various places throughout the country, they lose
- 3:55a lot of money. For me to go and fix it. I'm
- 4:00the one capable of fixing it. So for the Trump
- 4:02administration, for me to get involved and to
- 4:06take that on long term and to carry it or to
- 4:10raise money to carry it, I think that the Trump
- 4:13administration should certainly have recognition
- 4:15because frankly if we don't do that It's going
- 4:18to close. It'll end up being ripped down. It's
- 4:21in very, very bad shape. His reasoning just doesn't
- 4:23stand up. Before Trump took over the leadership
- 4:26of the Kennedy Center, they were operating at
- 4:28a budget surplus, meaning they had more money
- 4:30coming in than going out. So they weren't in
- 4:33a bad position. And yes, maybe the building needed
- 4:35some renovations, so get the renovations. Putting
- 4:38your name on the building. doesn't fix any of
- 4:41that and furthermore he's saying that it's losing
- 4:44money well guess what it wasn't losing money
- 4:46but even if it was it was a not -for -profit
- 4:49not -for -profit organizations do not work for
- 4:52a profit and neither does Carnegie Hall in New
- 4:54York So these arguments are completely silly.
- 4:58And if you look at what the congresswoman said,
- 5:00he's actually had more bankruptcies than anyone
- 5:03in the room at a Kennedy Center board meeting.
- 5:06So he's not exactly one who should be talking
- 5:08about fiscal responsibility. But no, the news
- 5:11day's not over, because there's a forklift taking
- 5:14out a pillar of the Kennedy Center. Midas Touch
- 5:18posted this real earlier today. A legal observer
- 5:21has just declared to the court under penalty
- 5:23of perjury that she witnessed a forklift, repeatedly
- 5:26crashing into the pillars of the Kennedy Center
- 5:28today. The legal observer is part of Representative
- 5:31Joyce Beatty's legal team. Representative Beatty,
- 5:34of course, is the Democratic congresswoman who
- 5:36brought the lawsuit against Donald Trump to protect
- 5:38the Kennedy Center. She is one of the few remaining
- 5:41non -Trump lackeys on the board for the Kennedy
- 5:44Center still. The observer says that she walked
- 5:46around to both the north and south sides of the
- 5:48building and saw that the gates wrapped all around
- 5:51both sides blocking all staircases leading to
- 5:54the building and that there were four gates blocking
- 5:56the main walkway to the building. The building
- 5:59when she got there was completely closed down.
- 6:01She had seen under the scaffolding on the east
- 6:03side that the building was open but there were
- 6:05workers waiting there for more gates to arrive
- 6:08to close it. She said it basically looked like
- 6:10a full -on construction scene. and then she dropped
- 6:13this bombshell at the end of her declaration
- 6:15saying afterward I saw a forklift carrying what
- 6:18appeared to be a more permanent form of fencing
- 6:21drive over to the north side of the building
- 6:23I saw the forklift run into and hit the pillars
- 6:27of the building several times So after a judge
- 6:30yesterday ruled that Donald Trump cannot have
- 6:33his name on the Kennedy Center and Trump went
- 6:35to his board and had them shut down the Kennedy
- 6:37Center, he seems to want to take his ball and
- 6:40go home, so to speak, and it kind of seems like
- 6:42he is trying to destroy the Kennedy Center because
- 6:45they won't let him put his name on it. So just
- 6:48to summarize, a judge told Trump he can't have
- 6:50his name on the Kennedy Center again. Trump threw
- 6:53a temper tantrum and yelled at a congresswoman.
- 6:55And Trump says if his name doesn't get put on
- 6:58the Kennedy Center, he's going to demolish it.
- 7:00And there's already a forklift trying to take
- 7:02out a pillar at the Kennedy Center. In most administrations,
- 7:05this would be a major scandal. But in the Trump
- 7:08administration, this is just Tuesday. And in
- 7:11other news, Mitch McConnell's really made a big
- 7:13splash with his first couple days back in the
- 7:15Senate. If you want the full update, of what
- 7:17happened on the first day, check out my previous
- 7:19video. But today, Mitch McConnell broke the internet
- 7:22because it came time for him to issue a vote,
- 7:24which is one of the key reasons why he actually
- 7:27showed up. So what happened when they went around
- 7:29the table and actually got to Mitch McConnell
- 7:32to cast his vote? And look, there's an aide whispering
- 7:37in Mitch McConnell's ear. I wonder what he's
- 7:39whispering. Senator McConnell. You have got to
- 7:50be kidding me. He had one job to do. We waited
- 7:53three months for this for him to show up in the
- 7:55Senate. He can't even vote the right way. His
- 7:58first clue should have been looking at the Democrats
- 8:00who are all voting no. So obviously he needs
- 8:02to vote yes like any good Republican. Things
- 8:05have gotten so bad that the former Senate majority
- 8:07leader for the Republicans doesn't know the difference
- 8:09between a Democrat and a Republican. And check
- 8:12out this scene here. You've got Amy Klobuchar
- 8:14chatting with her colleagues, but not Mitch McConnell.
- 8:18Kind of looks like the lights are on, but nobody
- 8:21seems to be home. But that wasn't it for the
- 8:24day. We've got a very awkward interaction with
- 8:26reporters, a whole lot of questions, and a whole
- 8:29lot of nothing back. But they do manage to get
- 8:32a little bit of a reaction out of Mitch this
- 8:34time. Oh yeah, are we voting tonight, Senator?
- 8:38Ah, the peace sign. Well, I guess that's better
- 8:40than a middle finger. And in slightly more interactive
- 8:44opportunities, we've got Melania in North Carolina
- 8:46hanging out with a robotics classroom. I mean,
- 8:49what could possibly go wrong here? Well, for
- 8:52starters, Melania was sitting down with some
- 8:54students and had some questions that were frankly
- 8:56a little concerning. Melania crashed the classroom.
- 9:00She's doing her best. They got started with some
- 9:04basics. It's called an egg, Melania. Yeah, go
- 9:11ahead, Melania. Put it in. You've got this. Oh,
- 9:19I think the vibes are off with this robot. Oh,
- 9:23Melania, put it down. Slovenian education is
- 9:27very different. Great time to pull out, Melania.
- 9:32Lesson completed. Thanks for watching Breaking
