- 0:11Speaker 1: would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land
- 0:14Speaker 1: of which this podcast is recorded on a wondery country,
- 0:18Speaker 1: acknowledging the elders, the ancestors and the next generation coming
- 0:22Speaker 1: through as this podcast is about connecting, empowering, knowledge sharing
- 0:27Speaker 1: and the storytelling of you to make a difference for
- 0:30Speaker 1: today and lasting impact for tomorrow.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Let's get into it.
- 0:34Speaker 3: She's on the Money, She's on the Money.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money.
- 1:00Speaker 4: The podcast are millennials who want financial freedom. Welcome my friends,
- 1:04Speaker 4: back to another Friday episode where we celebrate you ow incredible.
- 1:08Speaker 4: She's on the Money community. But this week, my friends,
- 1:12Speaker 4: it looks a little bit different because Miss jessic Ricci
- 1:16Speaker 4: as always is here.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Hello, but Jessica, where are we We're in New.
- 1:20Speaker 4: York City, We actually are, and this week we are
- 1:23Speaker 4: joined by two friends I would say friends of the show,
- 1:26Speaker 4: but also She's on the Money employees who were dragged
- 1:29Speaker 4: on and all expenses paid trip to New York.
- 1:32Speaker 2: So it's a really hard life. They're really salty.
- 1:35Speaker 4: We have Gabby Funham and Brooke Taylor Hello. Hello, Let's
- 1:41Speaker 4: introduce them first, Jess, because I feel like you and
- 1:43Speaker 4: I are incredibly comfortable behind a mic arguably sometimes too
- 1:47Speaker 4: comfortable behind a microphone.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Gabby straight under the bus. Who are you? What do
- 1:51Speaker 2: you do and why are you in New York?
- 1:54Speaker 5: I'm Gabby, I'm.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Hi Gabby.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Welcome means the PR and marketing manager at She's on
- 2:02Speaker 3: the money, just moved on from v's EA, which is
- 2:05Speaker 3: a bit of a sad little journey, but it was
- 2:07Speaker 3: sad to be my eas to New York, and I'm
- 2:11Speaker 3: here just for the vibes, good times. I mean, we're
- 2:15Speaker 3: also going to a finance conference, that's mainly why we came.
- 2:19Speaker 3: But we also have a heap of really cool interviews
- 2:21Speaker 3: that are going to drop over the next couple of
- 2:23Speaker 3: weeks that Gabby organized entirely so exactly.
- 2:27Speaker 6: You guys will love them.
- 2:28Speaker 4: I'm really excited about it. In Brook Taylor Green, I'm
- 2:33Speaker 4: Brok Taylor Green. That's government name. You're welcome.
- 2:35Speaker 7: I do all video content, so any bad tiktoks you watch.
- 2:39Speaker 7: I probably made them, and I'm here because it's way
- 2:42Speaker 7: more fun to do a daily blog on behalf of
- 2:44Speaker 7: V than to have V do it herself. So I'm
- 2:47Speaker 7: just filming everything and anything and going to the conference.
- 2:51Speaker 8: Also, if you're not following us on Instagram, you absolutely
- 2:53Speaker 8: should be and TikTok as well, because there is so
- 2:56Speaker 8: much good content. We've been having so much fun with it.
- 2:58Speaker 8: There's lots of financed but there is also the little
- 3:01Speaker 8: bts moments that I feel like everybody loves. And turns out,
- 3:04Speaker 8: New York is really expensive, so that's been really expensive.
- 3:07Speaker 5: It's been a little bit gross.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I'm going to actually replace becks broke tips with.
- 3:11Speaker 6: Like why we are broken.
- 3:14Speaker 4: To come to America and the exchange rate is awful,
- 3:17Speaker 4: But yeah, I feel like it's really exciting to actually
- 3:20Speaker 4: be here. Finally, we've been talking about this America trip
- 3:23Speaker 4: four litual years. Jess and I came to the US
- 3:25Speaker 4: last year for the same conference, got a lot out
- 3:27Speaker 4: of it, and we are going again.
- 3:29Speaker 2: It's called fin Con for anyone who is interested.
- 3:31Speaker 4: If you listened last year, you knew that we were
- 3:33Speaker 4: there and we weren't excited about it. But it's one
- 3:35Speaker 4: of those things that it's kind of like a pipe dream. Guys,
- 3:37Speaker 4: we're recording in New York City.
- 3:39Speaker 2: That is wild. It's like she's on the money gone
- 3:42Speaker 2: gossip girl.
- 3:43Speaker 4: But let's move on and get some normalcy to this podcast,
- 3:47Speaker 4: Miss Jesse Ricci, what are your money wins of the week?
- 3:51Speaker 8: All right? My first money when this week came from Grace,
- 3:53Speaker 8: who said, my partner and I went to give the
- 3:55Speaker 8: car a quick powerwash at the DIY cart wash and
- 3:57Speaker 8: the meat still had money on it.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Freekarwhah.
- 4:00Speaker 5: She calls the money win that is.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Was is getting expensive.
- 4:04Speaker 8: I also would never leave money on the meet it,
- 4:06Speaker 8: Like even if I was done cleaning, I would find
- 4:08Speaker 8: something to clean. Like if I've put ten bucks in
- 4:10Speaker 8: and there's still a few dollars left, I'd be like, well,
- 4:12Speaker 8: I haven't cleaned it enough, like I'm gonna.
- 4:15Speaker 5: I would not walk away with it. No, not the
- 4:17Speaker 5: one that I go.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I just money win, I just just get it. No way.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I asked my dad to clean my car when I
- 4:26Speaker 2: go back home.
- 4:29Speaker 5: Absolute genius.
- 4:30Speaker 8: My next money comes from Kirby, who said, we went
- 4:33Speaker 8: out to dinner with my family and the poor waiter
- 4:35Speaker 8: accidentally dropped my partner's meal all over him and the floor.
- 4:38Speaker 8: We were more than happy to just get a replacement
- 4:40Speaker 8: and a few extra napkins. But the sweetheart got a
- 4:43Speaker 8: meal remade in record time and gave him a refund
- 4:46Speaker 8: for his meal and gave him a free drink, and
- 4:48Speaker 8: she said, bless his cotton socks.
- 4:49Speaker 4: That is literally the sweetest But as we have a
- 4:52Speaker 4: good little story, Yeah, previous waitress who tipped an entire
- 4:58Speaker 4: glass of red wine over someone wearing white pants once
- 5:01Speaker 4: way back in the day, like the mad anxiety, Like
- 5:04Speaker 4: in that moment, you cannot do enough to make up
- 5:07Speaker 4: for it, Which is funny because that's not the experience
- 5:10Speaker 4: Brooke Taylor Green had.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Is it.
- 5:11Speaker 1: No?
- 5:12Speaker 7: Recently, I was on a flight back from Thailand and
- 5:14Speaker 7: the air hostess walked past me and spilt an entire
- 5:17Speaker 7: cup of coffee, like not a little bit and a
- 5:18Speaker 7: tip of coffee and was like walking at full pace
- 5:21Speaker 7: and goes, oh sorry, and they.
- 5:22Speaker 6: Just did not worry and then threw a towel back
- 5:23Speaker 6: to me.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Lean it up.
- 5:26Speaker 6: I was worried about it. He was like, yeah, you
- 5:28Speaker 6: deal with this.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Coffee.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Yep, that's why we now fly United. That's fine, that's
- 5:34Speaker 4: absolutely fine. Just what else have you got next?
- 5:36Speaker 8: I have one from Chantal who says I'm learning to plant, cook,
- 5:39Speaker 8: and preserve a vegy garden. I spent the weekend making
- 5:41Speaker 8: way for some summer veggies to go in. And this
- 5:43Speaker 8: is what I've kicked. I suppose it's a small, continuous
- 5:46Speaker 8: money when as it's almost forced a way to keep
- 5:48Speaker 8: me active and I have to do something with what
- 5:51Speaker 8: I grow, akay eat it or find ways to reuse
- 5:53Speaker 8: the scraps. And there's a little photo.
- 5:54Speaker 5: We love a photo.
- 5:55Speaker 4: I do love a photo, albeit I do have to
- 5:58Speaker 4: admit that like I don't have the commitment for that.
- 6:01Speaker 4: And my favorite types of photos that people put in
- 6:03Speaker 4: the wind threads are dogs.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Yeah you love Yes, we love a dog.
- 6:07Speaker 3: I feel like I go through the phase like every
- 6:09Speaker 3: summer where I'm like, this year is the year I'm
- 6:11Speaker 3: going to do a veggie patch, and Mum comes and
- 6:13Speaker 3: like helps me pick all the beginner ones and then
- 6:16Speaker 3: I just give up and they die.
- 6:18Speaker 4: That's quite it's not a money win, I think, Yeah, no,
- 6:20Speaker 4: it's morbidly wholesome.
- 6:22Speaker 8: I won't get one of those veggie pod things and
- 6:24Speaker 8: it's funny because someone put I have another money in
- 6:26Speaker 8: from Jess great name, who said I bought a veggie
- 6:28Speaker 8: pod to start growing vegetables at home, and I got
- 6:30Speaker 8: sixty dollars cash back. Hopefully growing some vege continues to
- 6:33Speaker 8: be a money in. I've always wanted one of those
- 6:35Speaker 8: things because it protects them from the sun and the
- 6:37Speaker 8: bugs and like all that kind of stuff.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I have that pot I made a couple of years ago.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Do you remember when I went and got the worm
- 6:42Speaker 4: garden and put it in a really big planter, And
- 6:44Speaker 4: now it's so just like Gabby, they all died. They
- 6:48Speaker 4: all died, and I pulled them out recently and I'm
- 6:50Speaker 4: going to replant them and it's going to look lush
- 6:52Speaker 4: for approximately three months.
- 6:53Speaker 8: I'm excited to eat some homegrown carrots for Victoria's backyard
- 6:57Speaker 8: and not lu Next, I've got a money win from Brittany,
- 7:02Speaker 8: who said I didn't tell my employer I had finished
- 7:04Speaker 8: paying off my hextet and I just cashed it in
- 7:07Speaker 8: when I got my tax back, and I got seven
- 7:09Speaker 8: grand Bunny we forced savings, and I'm really happy about it.
- 7:13Speaker 4: Gabby was celebrating the other day because you got a
- 7:15Speaker 4: tax return you weren't expecting.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:17Speaker 3: I decided to take the plunge and actually pay a
- 7:20Speaker 3: tax professional to do my tax this year, which was
- 7:24Speaker 3: had a little bit of a moral debate about it,
- 7:27Speaker 3: but anyway, I was just like, if I can do
- 7:31Speaker 3: it myself on my Gov, but MyGov told me I
- 7:34Speaker 3: was going to o two thy four hundred, went to
- 7:37Speaker 3: the taxman, got back two thy four hundred, did a
- 7:41Speaker 3: full switcheroo.
- 7:42Speaker 2: We have broken even.
- 7:43Speaker 3: That is a tax slay, absolutely, yes, it is so.
- 7:51Speaker 4: For those playing along at home when you put brook
- 7:54Speaker 4: Green and I in the same room. What's the word
- 7:56Speaker 4: that we use too much sleigh? Yeah, and Gabby does
- 7:59Speaker 4: not like it.
- 8:00Speaker 5: All the perfon WD people will be getting.
- 8:02Speaker 2: PTSD right now.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I tried to put a sleigh limit on but
- 8:07Speaker 5: it's hard.
- 8:07Speaker 7: I actually had to stop myself because there's many moments
- 8:09Speaker 7: where like a money win.
- 8:10Speaker 8: That's a sleigh, Like you've slade replaced the sleigh with
- 8:13Speaker 8: the money win.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's just okay, But they told us their
- 8:15Speaker 4: money win and I want to celebrate it. Slave boots
- 8:20Speaker 4: cuts down, all right, jess what else if you got.
- 8:25Speaker 8: Every money win, just know that the team thinks it's
- 8:28Speaker 8: a big sleigh. Lastly, I've got money Lost from Alana.
- 8:31Speaker 8: I think this is a very relatable one. She said,
- 8:33Speaker 8: money Loss Meccha holiday has dropped. The lady at the
- 8:36Speaker 8: register asked if I wanted them wrapped, and I said, no,
- 8:39Speaker 8: they're all for me.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I'm sorry, there's nothing wrong with that. But there's also
- 8:45Speaker 2: nothing wrong with that.
- 8:46Speaker 4: But you guys know, whenever I order from Mecca online,
- 8:48Speaker 4: by the way, level four, waiting for them to invite
- 8:51Speaker 4: me to their next level once they decide to create one.
- 8:54Speaker 4: But I always write to Victoria Slave Victoria, and I
- 8:58Speaker 4: always ask for gift wrapping and then I open it
- 9:00Speaker 4: because nine times out of ten this is not a
- 9:02Speaker 4: good thing to admit.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I can't remember what I put in my box.
- 9:05Speaker 5: I just need it yourself to.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Me from me.
- 9:08Speaker 5: Exactly true.
- 9:10Speaker 8: It's probably packed faster when you gift trap it because
- 9:12Speaker 8: it's a smaller section. I used to work in the
- 9:14Speaker 8: ware house.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Is it actually in Melbourne?
- 9:16Speaker 8: It's two separate at least at the Melbourn ware house
- 9:18Speaker 8: it's two separate divisions.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. So if I tick normal box slash
- 9:23Speaker 2: not normal box.
- 9:24Speaker 8: It's just higher volume in normal, like they're packing like
- 9:26Speaker 8: their lives depend on it.
- 9:28Speaker 2: They do because at Tilbury very quickly, is the answer.
- 9:34Speaker 5: Yeah, they're brilliant. We love you, Mecca, all right.
- 9:35Speaker 4: So unfortunately beck did not come to fing On with
- 9:39Speaker 4: us this year.
- 9:40Speaker 5: We've got other work to do it home, which is fair.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Yeah, it's fair like she works for iHeart, not for
- 9:44Speaker 4: Victoria Divine, which is quite sad.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I mean, you guys are probably quite envious.
- 9:48Speaker 6: But that's okay.
- 9:49Speaker 4: But I decided this week instead of doing becks broke tips,
- 9:52Speaker 4: we're going to do She's on the money, is what's
- 9:54Speaker 4: making you broke this week?
- 9:54Speaker 2: In New York City.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Yes, the other day, I think you're going to talk
- 9:59Speaker 4: about your are a sau refreshers that you're obsessed with.
- 10:03Speaker 4: You had a conniption at the dining table when you
- 10:05Speaker 4: realized what that.
- 10:07Speaker 8: I hadn't been taking into account and con To be honest,
- 10:09Speaker 8: I hadn't even asked them how much they were. I
- 10:10Speaker 8: just remember that I loved these last year. I came
- 10:13Speaker 8: in and I was like, tappy, tap tap, terrible habit,
- 10:15Speaker 8: don't do it, tapping away. And then I was just
- 10:18Speaker 8: checking my bank account to see where we were at
- 10:20Speaker 8: and I was like, oh my god, I'm paying twelve
- 10:23Speaker 8: dollars fifty.
- 10:23Speaker 4: Your drinks had a little more down and you don't
- 10:26Speaker 4: even get the big one. I did you just get
- 10:27Speaker 4: like the grande, which is really.
- 10:29Speaker 5: The size of like the medium.
- 10:31Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 10:31Speaker 5: Medium?
- 10:31Speaker 8: At home, I would say, yeah, I couldn't believe it.
- 10:34Speaker 8: I was very sad about it with money. When Victoria
- 10:35Speaker 8: bought mine this morning.
- 10:36Speaker 2: For me, yeah, because I felt bad.
- 10:38Speaker 6: She was like, I'm not going to get one.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah, because it was like which makes sense?
- 10:42Speaker 4: And I was like, well, you deserve this strawberry esau
- 10:45Speaker 4: refresher from Starbucks.
- 10:46Speaker 5: You do, and you don't have coffee, so I feel
- 10:49Speaker 5: like you need.
- 10:49Speaker 2: To yourself and she always deserves it.
- 10:52Speaker 8: Yeah, if you don't drink coffee, the refreshers have caffeine
- 10:55Speaker 8: in them. They're delicious. They taste like juice.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Oh ten out of ten, Gabby, what have you learned
- 10:59Speaker 4: about money being in New York City?
- 11:01Speaker 3: Oh? I just think the massive, like the tax on
- 11:04Speaker 3: top of what you're buying, it is the biggest. Like
- 11:07Speaker 3: went to Sephora bought a lip bum and a lip
- 11:10Speaker 3: gloss and it cost me like eighty five dollars Australian
- 11:14Speaker 3: because you.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Get tax on that.
- 11:17Speaker 6: Yeah, think about it in the shops.
- 11:19Speaker 2: I was like, I mean, do not check.
- 11:24Speaker 3: But then you know, when you buy it in USD
- 11:26Speaker 3: you're like, oh, it's it's fine.
- 11:29Speaker 5: But yeah made me cry a little, but that was fine.
- 11:32Speaker 4: It's not because the exchange rates are dollars sixty approximately
- 11:35Speaker 4: in my.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I have another good one that Uber eats. The
- 11:37Speaker 5: other night.
- 11:38Speaker 8: Uber eats popcorn and two cokes because we did a
- 11:40Speaker 8: wholesome little movie night in and you breached two cokes
- 11:43Speaker 8: and they looked, you know, you pay a little bit
- 11:45Speaker 8: more on in Uber. It's it's fine. You expect it
- 11:47Speaker 8: from like not far away at all. And it was
- 11:51Speaker 8: like thirty eight dollars between the conversion, the tax, the service,
- 11:54Speaker 8: the delivery, Like.
- 11:57Speaker 5: And I can't wrap my brain.
- 11:59Speaker 8: I have never been more thankful that Australian just keep
- 12:01Speaker 8: it so simple, I know.
- 12:03Speaker 2: But then you.
- 12:03Speaker 7: Feel bad for not tipping, yeah, and like the onus
- 12:06Speaker 7: is on you, so you could tip ten percent, but
- 12:08Speaker 7: then you look like a bad person and then you like,
- 12:10Speaker 7: I'm basically saying to them, oh, I don't think you
- 12:11Speaker 7: did a good job, but they did do a good job.
- 12:13Speaker 6: So you've got to give them the twenty percent.
- 12:14Speaker 5: But twenty percent on anything you buy so much money.
- 12:16Speaker 4: It's a lot of money if you've got But that's
- 12:18Speaker 4: what I've been putting because I'm an anxious girl and
- 12:20Speaker 4: I don't want to think that I'm not kind. Yeah,
- 12:22Speaker 4: like I'm not going to go to a restaurant and
- 12:24Speaker 4: be super nice to you, Gabby, and they'd be like,
- 12:26Speaker 4: you are not worth a.
- 12:27Speaker 5: Tip ill and twenty percent standard.
- 12:29Speaker 6: So if you really like them, you should be giving, yeah,
- 12:31Speaker 6: like twenty five. But it'd you have like one hundred
- 12:33Speaker 6: dollars lunch.
- 12:34Speaker 7: Then that's very bad at math soot a one hundred
- 12:38Speaker 7: dollar lunch.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Actually, we the other night, we got in quite late
- 12:42Speaker 4: from our plane we arrived from Australia. We got to
- 12:45Speaker 4: our airbnb, we set up, and then we ordered Chick
- 12:47Speaker 4: fil A.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I have not shared with you how much this cost.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Soh No, Taylor Green has been running out how much
- 12:54Speaker 4: does it cost?
- 12:54Speaker 2: And I thought I just bring it up on the show.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Okay, So how much did our Chick fil A order
- 13:01Speaker 4: the other day cost? Everybody got chicken tenders, you got
- 13:05Speaker 4: a side of chips, and you all got a standard
- 13:08Speaker 4: sized drink nothing exciting on the side, and we did
- 13:11Speaker 4: out on like a couple of sauces.
- 13:13Speaker 6: Here in the sauces are included in the cost of
- 13:15Speaker 6: the okay.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Yeap, oh no, I think I got it weird, Yeah,
- 13:19Speaker 4: you need like I need fifty CHICKI a.
- 13:23Speaker 5: Lucky We removed that.
- 13:26Speaker 4: How much did that cost delivered? It was on uber
- 13:30Speaker 4: It's I'm going one hundred and twenty. I'm trying to
- 13:33Speaker 4: do the math mentally in my head and figure it out.
- 13:35Speaker 2: No, you cheat by doing the.
- 13:38Speaker 7: You gotta say quickly, fast and loose baby, fast and
- 13:40Speaker 7: loose eighty five dollars.
- 13:41Speaker 4: It was about one hundred dollars USD, which converts to
- 13:45Speaker 4: one hundred and sixty dollars takeaway?
- 13:47Speaker 5: Doesn't that makes me want to cry?
- 13:49Speaker 8: But how.
- 13:55Speaker 6: Pay for it? So sorry?
- 13:57Speaker 7: But I love the holy money in that was actually
- 14:00Speaker 7: a money for us six We saved ourselves like thirty
- 14:02Speaker 7: dollars each.
- 14:03Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 14:03Speaker 4: But then on top of that, I had to tip,
- 14:05Speaker 4: and obviously taxes were added to that. But I had
- 14:08Speaker 4: to tip, and I was really worried that if I
- 14:10Speaker 4: didn't tip enough, they wouldn't bring my food very quickly
- 14:13Speaker 4: and it would be cold.
- 14:14Speaker 2: So I don't know this.
- 14:16Speaker 4: This economy makes me incredibly anxious, stressful.
- 14:20Speaker 7: It is because all the onus is on you, like
- 14:22Speaker 7: you are a part of the process. Where ITAs in
- 14:23Speaker 7: Australia you go to macas ten dollars.
- 14:25Speaker 6: Yep, done, thanks bye, I have ten dices ten dollars.
- 14:27Speaker 2: It is what is on the label.
- 14:29Speaker 7: Yeah, and then here you get a service charge, you
- 14:30Speaker 7: get a tip and then it's like a is there
- 14:32Speaker 7: anything more o?
- 14:34Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 14:34Speaker 6: And the taxes taxes.
- 14:36Speaker 4: On topic, Broke, what have you learned about money while
- 14:39Speaker 4: being in the Big USA?
- 14:40Speaker 7: Accommodation in America is really expensive, like anywhere you go
- 14:43Speaker 7: like hotels, like even like a dodgy motel, throwing a
- 14:46Speaker 7: few dollars a night, which in Australia like a motail
- 14:49Speaker 7: you can get like a fifty dollar dodgy motel.
- 14:50Speaker 4: We're not staying in dodgy motels, Broke, No, no, I know,
- 14:53Speaker 4: but like.
- 14:54Speaker 6: Even I was.
- 14:54Speaker 7: I recently was in like Lake Tahoe and it's like
- 14:57Speaker 7: middle of it's not the correct season to go in.
- 15:00Speaker 7: The dingiest place ever was three hundred and seventy dollars
- 15:03Speaker 7: a night and it was like there was not even
- 15:05Speaker 7: a fridge.
- 15:05Speaker 6: There was not even we didn't have any like it's
- 15:09Speaker 6: just expensive. Everything's expensive.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Do you know what Jess doesn't like about the US
- 15:13Speaker 4: actually because talking about they didn't even have a.
- 15:17Speaker 2: They don't have kettles here.
- 15:19Speaker 8: It's so so somebody, my friend is studying here and
- 15:22Speaker 8: she said that they they're making like a tea. They
- 15:24Speaker 8: put it in the microwave.
- 15:25Speaker 2: No, no, they don't.
- 15:26Speaker 6: The water flow. That's why.
- 15:30Speaker 8: Yeah, last year, Victory had to buy me a kettle
- 15:32Speaker 8: for her whole room so I could fill up my
- 15:34Speaker 8: hot water.
- 15:34Speaker 6: Did you bring it this time?
- 15:36Speaker 5: Because it was we left it in the US because
- 15:37Speaker 5: it was a full kettle.
- 15:38Speaker 2: It was a full kettle.
- 15:41Speaker 4: This woman had a full conniption that she could not
- 15:44Speaker 4: put water in her hot water bottle. And you could
- 15:46Speaker 4: see her having an internal meltdown. Wasn't external thesels around.
- 15:52Speaker 9: She was just trying to keep it together in front
- 15:54Speaker 9: of me, and she was like, it's fine, it's fine,
- 15:55Speaker 9: it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter. And you know when
- 15:57Speaker 9: someone's just like talking to themselves at the same point, saying,
- 16:00Speaker 9: so we made a late night dash to Walmart, which
- 16:02Speaker 9: is terrifying. By the way, why do you sell groceries, clothes, shoes,
- 16:06Speaker 9: and guns in the same location.
- 16:10Speaker 6: Shops.
- 16:12Speaker 2: But anyway, we.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Asked, didn't we jest? We asked for a kettle. The
- 16:15Speaker 4: guy looked at us like we were on crack.
- 16:17Speaker 5: I didn't even know what it was.
- 16:18Speaker 2: He was like, what's a kettle?
- 16:19Speaker 4: And we were like, you know, you put boiling water
- 16:21Speaker 4: in there, and he did not understand. That's fine. We
- 16:25Speaker 4: did find one kettle in the whole store. It was
- 16:27Speaker 4: really expensive if we had to buy it because j
- 16:30Speaker 4: wasn't going to sleep, and then we something different. No,
- 16:32Speaker 4: it's literally called an electric kettle.
- 16:34Speaker 2: They care about the.
- 16:37Speaker 8: Commodity and the electric one as well, because sometimes like
- 16:42Speaker 8: our Airbnb has one you put on the burner, but
- 16:45Speaker 8: most people at home wouldn't use one on the.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Burner's because the people the Westeak now it's house is
- 16:50Speaker 4: really fancy, so of course they have a very esthetic.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Copper like style kettle.
- 16:55Speaker 5: Gorgeous.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I would almost bet that they don't drink tea.
- 16:58Speaker 4: I feel like that's not very it's lovely.
- 17:01Speaker 6: I had a little look.
- 17:03Speaker 2: You're went through all their stuff for his snowy.
- 17:08Speaker 4: All right, no worries, Let's go to a really quick
- 17:10Speaker 4: break on the flip side, I want to talk to
- 17:12Speaker 4: you guys about a money dilemma. This week we're talking
- 17:14Speaker 4: about micro investing, and then we're also going to be
- 17:16Speaker 4: answering a juicy money question that you slid into our
- 17:19Speaker 4: dms about which this week we're talking about splitting finances
- 17:22Speaker 4: in a relationship before having children.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Don't go anywhere, guys, Welcome back everybody.
- 17:32Speaker 5: Let's take a listen to this week's money dilemma.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Hi.
- 17:36Speaker 6: There, have you got.
- 17:37Speaker 10: A money dilemma you just can't solve? The Sheese on
- 17:40Speaker 10: the Money Team is here to help. Every week we
- 17:43Speaker 10: tackle your dilemmas, both big and small, to answer your
- 17:45Speaker 10: most burning money.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Career and life questions.
- 17:48Speaker 10: To get involved, simply head to our website and leave
- 17:51Speaker 10: us a short voice recording and you might just find
- 17:53Speaker 10: yourself on the show. Now, let's take a listen to
- 17:56Speaker 10: this week's money dilemma.
- 18:01Speaker 11: Hi, She's on the Money Team. So I'm currently wanting
- 18:04Speaker 11: to start micro investing about twenty dollars a week. And
- 18:07Speaker 11: I've also heard a lot about the roundup feature on
- 18:11Speaker 11: the different apps, which sounds a lot of fun. It's
- 18:15Speaker 11: just very confusing with all the apps out there and
- 18:18Speaker 11: the monthly plans that are pretty high in fees at
- 18:21Speaker 11: the end of the day. So yeah, just wanting some
- 18:23Speaker 11: advice on this and how to make sure that with
- 18:25Speaker 11: such a small amount of money invested every week, I
- 18:29Speaker 11: don't end up paying a lot in fees, Like how
- 18:32Speaker 11: how much are we looking at? Percentage wise? If you
- 18:36Speaker 11: girls could clarify that, I would be amazing. Thank you
- 18:39Speaker 11: so much.
- 18:40Speaker 5: So obviously we cannot give you personal advice.
- 18:42Speaker 2: We can talk about the functionality of different products.
- 18:45Speaker 8: Absolutely, I can talk about my experience, right like that's.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Not yeah, totally no, no, no, what do you do? Tell us?
- 18:50Speaker 8: So I use Sharesy, and you guys know that they're
- 18:53Speaker 8: a friend of the show. But I like them because
- 18:55Speaker 8: I started off.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Micro investing before I started.
- 18:58Speaker 8: Investing larger amounts, and they have the roundups feature, which
- 19:02Speaker 8: I really like. They have the ability for you to
- 19:04Speaker 8: buy shares in the US Stock Exchange, which is something
- 19:06Speaker 8: else that I really like, even though they are a
- 19:09Speaker 8: platform that allows you to invest in very small amounts
- 19:12Speaker 8: from as little as consent.
- 19:13Speaker 4: So relevant for this episode, Jessica Ici, because what did
- 19:16Speaker 4: we do right before coming to the iHeart Studios to
- 19:19Speaker 4: record this.
- 19:19Speaker 5: We touched the ball.
- 19:20Speaker 8: Where do we do it?
- 19:22Speaker 2: Wall Street? I'm officially a Wall Street girlie.
- 19:27Speaker 4: I stood in front of the Wall Street Oh sorry,
- 19:29Speaker 4: I stood in front of the American Stock Exchange for
- 19:31Speaker 4: a good five minutes staring at it before. Gabby was like,
- 19:34Speaker 4: we have places to be and I was like, do
- 19:36Speaker 4: not realize how iconic this moment is for me?
- 19:38Speaker 2: Stop it? And she was just like, we've got to go,
- 19:40Speaker 2: Like we're on a timeline.
- 19:41Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't run a tight shitt for me, Gabby.
- 19:47Speaker 5: I was trying, but I.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Was like, all right, we got like two minutes, and
- 19:50Speaker 3: then when VCS we're running ahead of schedule.
- 19:52Speaker 5: She's like, this is great, Like we'll just go get
- 19:54Speaker 5: a coffee and I'm like, oh, but that will put
- 19:56Speaker 5: us behind again. Let's to keep going.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Fectory as well. Do you just live in it?
- 20:01Speaker 6: Yeah, that's true.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Sorry, sorry, sorry back contrack.
- 20:04Speaker 6: Just che contract.
- 20:05Speaker 8: I think you definitely need to look at different platforms.
- 20:07Speaker 8: I like the fact that on Chairsy's there's a few
- 20:09Speaker 8: different options. You can pay like a monthly subscription that
- 20:12Speaker 8: kind of covers those fees, or you can pay as
- 20:14Speaker 8: you go, But all of the platforms have different percentages,
- 20:16Speaker 8: which is why it is so important to your own
- 20:18Speaker 8: research and why we are so quick to say there's
- 20:22Speaker 8: no one platform for everybody. So have a look around,
- 20:25Speaker 8: have a look at the features you want, because not
- 20:26Speaker 8: all of the platforms have those fun features. So we've round
- 20:28Speaker 8: up to something that's important to you. Make sure that
- 20:30Speaker 8: that's available on whatever you want to use. But yeah,
- 20:33Speaker 8: it's going to very place to place, and it really
- 20:35Speaker 8: depends on if you want an easy to use app.
- 20:37Speaker 5: Or if you want something really fancy.
- 20:39Speaker 8: Because you want something fancy, chare Y's is very simple,
- 20:41Speaker 8: which is why I chose it when I was starting out,
- 20:43Speaker 8: Whereas if you want heaps of reports and big fancy things,
- 20:47Speaker 8: I'm not one of those girlies.
- 20:48Speaker 2: I might just keep going for both.
- 20:49Speaker 4: So, as you guys know, I do invest on chair zas,
- 20:52Speaker 4: but I also do love a little bit more of
- 20:54Speaker 4: a complex platform sometimes just because I like the research
- 20:57Speaker 4: and the insights.
- 20:58Speaker 2: But she did specifically men micro.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Investing, which I think is worth talking about because you
- 21:05Speaker 4: technically micro invest Jess on the Chaza's platform, So you
- 21:09Speaker 4: are taking small amounts of money and investing them with
- 21:12Speaker 4: shares's right, and you use the roundup feature, and it
- 21:15Speaker 4: all makes sense that feature is also on platforms like
- 21:20Speaker 4: Rays and like Spaceship, which are incredibly popular within our community. However,
- 21:26Speaker 4: those are more i would say true micro investing platforms
- 21:30Speaker 4: where Jess, you got to pick your ETF that you're
- 21:32Speaker 4: investing into. You have a lot more control over your portfolio,
- 21:36Speaker 4: and it's still just as accessible as the quote micro
- 21:40Speaker 4: investing apps. But I think I've said it before, I
- 21:43Speaker 4: love micro investing app. It's like the gate raad drug
- 21:45Speaker 4: of investing because you don't feel overwhelmed when you start right,
- 21:50Speaker 4: Like you can just do a few dollars here and there,
- 21:51Speaker 4: you can download the app. It's all really shiny and easy. However,
- 21:55Speaker 4: once you get to a solid amount of money, you
- 21:58Speaker 4: find that most people want to see down their micro
- 22:01Speaker 4: investing app and go over to a quote real investing
- 22:04Speaker 4: app to have a bit more control because that is
- 22:07Speaker 4: going to take you all the way through to retirement.
- 22:09Speaker 4: So if I use you as an example, which I'm
- 22:11Speaker 4: really glad I have you to use this example of
- 22:14Speaker 4: you're not going to need to leave Shares's for your
- 22:16Speaker 4: entire life, Like if you decided right, Shares's is it.
- 22:20Speaker 4: I've picked my two ETFs only, No, you've got two
- 22:22Speaker 4: because I look at your portfolio two, so Perby.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I'm like, what what you got, Gabby, what's in there?
- 22:28Speaker 2: Show me?
- 22:29Speaker 4: But I think it's important to understand that a Shares's
- 22:33Speaker 4: platform is a little bit more scalable, whereas something like
- 22:36Speaker 4: a micro investing platform that to me is dipping your
- 22:40Speaker 4: toes in the water and getting a little bit comfortable
- 22:44Speaker 4: with it, and you might progress to a bigger platform.
- 22:47Speaker 4: The fees should be relatively comparable in saying that you
- 22:51Speaker 4: are always going to be paying more fees on lower
- 22:54Speaker 4: amounts because the same transactions have to occur on a
- 22:57Speaker 4: dollar versus one thousand dollars. Right, You've got your brokerage,
- 23:01Speaker 4: you have transaction fees, you might have app or administration fees,
- 23:04Speaker 4: and all of those things are reasonable. That's why it's
- 23:07Speaker 4: probably worth jumping into our Facebook community and understanding what
- 23:11Speaker 4: are other people in our community using?
- 23:13Speaker 2: What apps? Could I look at?
- 23:14Speaker 4: Have a look at our investing guide that's on our website,
- 23:16Speaker 4: go back to our investing series that we did on
- 23:19Speaker 4: the podcast a couple of months or even probably a
- 23:21Speaker 4: year ago. With shares these I think those things are
- 23:24Speaker 4: really important to understand, because if you want to start small,
- 23:28Speaker 4: you don't necessarily just have to go for micro investing
- 23:30Speaker 4: platforms anymore. But be aware that the fees at the
- 23:34Speaker 4: very start are going to feel in percentage terms, a
- 23:37Speaker 4: lot higher. But for me, that's an investment into your
- 23:40Speaker 4: financial literacy, because even if you're paying two dollars fifty
- 23:44Speaker 4: a month and you're investing ten dollars that twenty five percent.
- 23:48Speaker 2: That's a lot.
- 23:49Speaker 4: But look what you're learning, Look what's compounding, Look where
- 23:51Speaker 4: the growth is coming from, not just necessarily in terms
- 23:54Speaker 4: of making money, but in terms of your growth mindset
- 23:57Speaker 4: and putting you know yourself first. So when money starts
- 24:00Speaker 4: to compound, you're in the best possible position, and you
- 24:04Speaker 4: kind of have to start there. But once you get
- 24:06Speaker 4: to having a bigger portfolio, like I know you do, Gabby,
- 24:09Speaker 4: and I know you do, Jess, and I'm pretty sure
- 24:12Speaker 4: you do too, Brook, because you're like a little investing queen.
- 24:15Speaker 2: You you're a bit of an investing bro.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Though I do I don't want to talk to her
- 24:18Speaker 4: on the podcast about what she invests in because she
- 24:20Speaker 4: consistently offends me.
- 24:22Speaker 7: However, I don't I have no money in crypto you
- 24:26Speaker 7: said the other day.
- 24:29Speaker 5: I didn't pick up on that.
- 24:30Speaker 2: I thought you were serious portfolio. Say how did you
- 24:35Speaker 2: pick your portfolio? Side note?
- 24:37Speaker 7: I went through due diligence, like I went on many
- 24:40Speaker 7: a Reddit for I'm a lover of Reddit. Oh yeah,
- 24:43Speaker 7: Reddit reliable, because I want to see what everyone else
- 24:45Speaker 7: is investing in.
- 24:46Speaker 6: And then I actually did like weeks of research.
- 24:48Speaker 7: I googled every like diversified fine ETF because I knew
- 24:52Speaker 7: that was the best way to go. Yes, and then
- 24:53Speaker 7: I went through and clarified what I wanted, and then
- 24:56Speaker 7: I diversified again because I was panicked.
- 24:58Speaker 6: I don't want to be I love this.
- 25:00Speaker 4: That was a very cheese on the money answer. Thanks, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 25:02Speaker 4: I like it. And I know that Jess and Gabby are
- 25:04Speaker 4: the same. But once you have those bigger portfolios, you're
- 25:08Speaker 4: aiming for about one percent in fees, Like anything under
- 25:11Speaker 4: one percent, sleigh, anything above one percent, you kind of go,
- 25:14Speaker 4: what could I be doing differently? Is that the platform
- 25:17Speaker 4: is that the ETF. You also have to be very
- 25:19Speaker 4: aware that an ETF is going to have fees and
- 25:21Speaker 4: the platform is going to have fees, So there are
- 25:23Speaker 4: going to be fees coming from two places, and you
- 25:26Speaker 4: need to consider that.
- 25:27Speaker 2: That is not me warning you, oh my gosh, their fees,
- 25:29Speaker 2: don't do it.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Just be clear on what it is, because obviously from
- 25:34Speaker 4: little things, big things grow. You've heard this said a
- 25:37Speaker 4: million times on the podcast.
- 25:38Speaker 2: But I do.
- 25:39Speaker 4: Genuinely believe that it's an investment into your education. And
- 25:43Speaker 4: if you start worrying about fees really really early, like
- 25:47Speaker 4: I said in my very first book, if you pay peanuts,
- 25:50Speaker 4: you're going to get monkeys. So you want to be
- 25:53Speaker 4: investing in something that makes sense for you, that is scalable,
- 25:56Speaker 4: not necessarily going what's the cheapest option.
- 25:59Speaker 5: Yeah, definitely.
- 26:00Speaker 3: I think for me, like personally, I'm still in a
- 26:02Speaker 3: very beginner phase of my investing journey and I would
- 26:07Speaker 3: still consider myself micro investing.
- 26:09Speaker 4: How are you doing that? Do you have a micro
- 26:11Speaker 4: investing platform on race space?
- 26:13Speaker 3: She shares E is, And I'm just investing small amounts
- 26:16Speaker 3: monthly from my pay which obviously a dollar doesn't stretch
- 26:20Speaker 3: as far as it did.
- 26:21Speaker 2: A year ago, not in America at least, no.
- 26:25Speaker 3: But like you, sav, I have found like just wrapping
- 26:29Speaker 3: my head around the statements and.
- 26:32Speaker 5: All of that really really helpful.
- 26:34Speaker 3: And I think like you say the education you get
- 26:36Speaker 3: from doing it is really really important, and even though
- 26:39Speaker 3: you don't see massive returns at one point, and I'm
- 26:42Speaker 3: as page as like as it gets with investing, I'm
- 26:45Speaker 3: just in ETFs, the boring ETFs actually really that I
- 26:49Speaker 3: did know that. Yeah, so I think that I'm a
- 26:51Speaker 3: very basic investor. But I do think the education I'm
- 26:54Speaker 3: getting from that is really really good. And I didn't
- 26:57Speaker 3: know the one percent things. So I'm happy I'm sitting
- 26:58Speaker 3: here and about where my fee should be going.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Yeah, hold on, sleigh, sleigh A, we gotta stay out
- 27:06Speaker 2: of her alright.
- 27:08Speaker 4: I feel answers the question that is a ten out
- 27:10Speaker 4: of ten. So we have a very spicy DM that
- 27:14Speaker 4: I'm excited to get two new opinions on, mister scree,
- 27:17Speaker 4: Are you ready to hear it? So here's the DM. Hi,
- 27:20Speaker 4: she's on the money team. Could I please get your advice.
- 27:24Speaker 4: I've been with my fiance for five years and we
- 27:26Speaker 4: are starting to talk about having a family. We both
- 27:29Speaker 4: earn one hundred and ten thousand dollars a year, but
- 27:31Speaker 4: I have less outgoings and also receive bonuses. My issue
- 27:36Speaker 4: is at current I do a majority of the cooking
- 27:38Speaker 4: the cleaning, the groceries, et cetera. But I also contribute
- 27:42Speaker 4: more financially.
- 27:43Speaker 2: I see where this is going.
- 27:45Speaker 4: We split rent fifty to fifty, but I often pay
- 27:47Speaker 4: for groceries, utilities, date nights. And when I bring it
- 27:50Speaker 4: up that I'm paying for a lot of our lifestyle,
- 27:52Speaker 4: my fiance doesn't agree and it becomes really awkward, so
- 27:55Speaker 4: I just drop it.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Now that he's.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Wanting to discuss planning for kids, I really want to
- 28:00Speaker 4: be firm that unless he can cover all of our
- 28:02Speaker 4: bills with his wage, I will not be having children.
- 28:06Speaker 4: I don't think it's fair that I do all of
- 28:07Speaker 4: the extra work and still contribute heavily to bills. He
- 28:11Speaker 4: says he is going to do as much childcare and
- 28:14Speaker 4: housework as me, but based on the last three years,
- 28:17Speaker 4: that just isn't true.
- 28:18Speaker 2: And I'm starting to feel resentful. Please send help.
- 28:23Speaker 5: I feel I don't know.
- 28:29Speaker 1: No.
- 28:30Speaker 4: I really want their opinions first, Jessica, because they're not say.
- 28:33Speaker 5: You guys, I'm ready. I think I'll start with.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Mean.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Yours is going to be mean?
- 28:40Speaker 6: Is it's most to be honest?
- 28:42Speaker 5: You're gonna have a blunt delivery.
- 28:44Speaker 3: No, I can't empathize with this situation that much because
- 28:47Speaker 3: I don't have a partner. I've never lived with a partner,
- 28:49Speaker 3: but I can imagine that would be very frustrating if
- 28:52Speaker 3: I was living with a man who wasn't really pulling
- 28:56Speaker 3: his weight and I was contributing more financially and just
- 29:00Speaker 3: to everything around.
- 29:01Speaker 5: I think we're going to have just a unanimous decision here.
- 29:04Speaker 2: I know where this is going.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Like, I think it's very fair to not want to
- 29:08Speaker 3: have children with someone who clearly isn't aligning with you
- 29:12Speaker 3: in that space.
- 29:13Speaker 5: And I just feel bad for her because that's.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Very frustrating, especially when she's trying to communicate that to him,
- 29:19Speaker 3: and it might be like talking to a bit of
- 29:21Speaker 3: a brick.
- 29:21Speaker 6: Wall, yep.
- 29:22Speaker 7: And she's saying that she doesn't want to have kids
- 29:24Speaker 7: with them if he don't want to do all these things,
- 29:25Speaker 7: but she already has a child.
- 29:28Speaker 6: Them Financially she's doing is cooking and cleaning, like she
- 29:30Speaker 6: already has a child.
- 29:32Speaker 7: Like if your partner is not stepping up now, he's
- 29:34Speaker 7: not going to step up then because it's harder than
- 29:36Speaker 7: you're going to be on less sleep. So it either
- 29:38Speaker 7: there needs to be something that gives like she can't
- 29:41Speaker 7: do everything, She's not wonder woman.
- 29:42Speaker 8: I think it depends on how important having children is
- 29:45Speaker 8: to as well, because if it's something that you're desperate for,
- 29:48Speaker 8: then it's it's not going to work. But if you're
- 29:49Speaker 8: kind of like, oh, like, I don't mind, like my
- 29:51Speaker 8: lifestyle now, I'm happy with it obviously, Like I think
- 29:55Speaker 8: that you should get to a place where you feel
- 29:57Speaker 8: satisfied with the amount that he's contributing. And I think
- 29:59Speaker 8: that we need to remember that the household chores are
- 30:02Speaker 8: a mental load. Being a stay at home parent or
- 30:05Speaker 8: a stay at home partner is a full time job
- 30:07Speaker 8: in and of itself. Running a household is a job.
- 30:09Speaker 8: If one person is doing all of that labor and
- 30:11Speaker 8: contributing more financially, that's a lot for anybody.
- 30:14Speaker 2: I think I would agree.
- 30:16Speaker 4: I feel like I have to play diplomat here though,
- 30:19Speaker 4: and put on the table that we need to have
- 30:21Speaker 4: some conversations about this.
- 30:22Speaker 5: So let's be honest to be a diplomatic.
- 30:25Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I mean, to me, it's a red flag
- 30:27Speaker 4: if you're saying I don't want to have kids with
- 30:28Speaker 4: this man, because I have been in that situation before,
- 30:31Speaker 4: not with my husband, because to be honest, I think
- 30:33Speaker 4: my husband is the best thing that's ever happened in you.
- 30:35Speaker 5: I don't have kids with your husband would be a
- 30:37Speaker 5: bit too late.
- 30:39Speaker 2: He is a bit too late, give me three months.
- 30:43Speaker 4: But it's one of those things where that was what
- 30:46Speaker 4: I was looking for in a partner. I was quite
- 30:48Speaker 4: clear that I wanted someone who was exactly on the
- 30:51Speaker 4: same page as me when it came to just life
- 30:54Speaker 4: and how you divide up tasks and what you do
- 30:56Speaker 4: and what that looks like. And I feel really grateful
- 30:59Speaker 4: for that. But that was very intentional. It's not an
- 31:01Speaker 4: accident that my husband is good at those things. I
- 31:04Speaker 4: didn't train him or anything like that. I just was
- 31:07Speaker 4: very attracted to somebody who was relatively self sufficient and
- 31:10Speaker 4: independent and had their stuff together. But I also think
- 31:14Speaker 4: if your partner's not seeing it the way you are,
- 31:17Speaker 4: we need to do a bit more investigating and go, okay, well,
- 31:20Speaker 4: let's not have an argument using words like Gabby, you
- 31:23Speaker 4: do this is actually really aggressive. Let's take those conversations
- 31:27Speaker 4: off the table and go, I just feel like this,
- 31:29Speaker 4: how can we explore that a bit more?
- 31:31Speaker 2: What would that mean?
- 31:32Speaker 4: Like you're saying that you're doing fifty to fifty. Why
- 31:35Speaker 4: do I feel that it's not because one thing that
- 31:39Speaker 4: I have learned, and this is not a good thing. Thankfully,
- 31:41Speaker 4: Steve and I don't argue too much, but I have
- 31:44Speaker 4: a very deep belief that you can argue your way
- 31:47Speaker 4: out of anything.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Except you can't tell me how I feel.
- 31:50Speaker 4: So the second I tell you how you feel, I
- 31:52Speaker 4: can't be like, oh, well, Jess, if you feel left
- 31:54Speaker 4: out by that, that's on you.
- 31:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to go, oh.
- 31:57Speaker 4: Actually, let's do a little bit of self reflection, if
- 32:00Speaker 4: that makes sense.
- 32:01Speaker 5: I love when you talk psychology to me. That's really good.
- 32:05Speaker 4: It's important though, So like, maybe we can sit down,
- 32:07Speaker 4: maybe we can do a budget. If you feel genuinely
- 32:09Speaker 4: that you're paying more, I'm sorry, but that's actually quite
- 32:12Speaker 4: black and white.
- 32:13Speaker 2: You could print it out and be like, well.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Let's do a budget. Let's actually look at this. What
- 32:17Speaker 4: does your shared finances look like? If you're saying you're
- 32:21Speaker 4: paying more but he's not, maybe there's not actually a
- 32:23Speaker 4: fair division. And if you're saying that this is a
- 32:25Speaker 4: man that you want to have kids with, maybe we
- 32:27Speaker 4: do need to talk about Okay, well, maybe we have
- 32:29Speaker 4: a shared account and you both transfer the same amount
- 32:31Speaker 4: to that shared account, still have completely separate finances, but
- 32:34Speaker 4: there's an agreed amount for bills and for groceries and
- 32:37Speaker 4: everything that's fifty to fifty.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Maybe that will make you.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Feel a little bit more in control. And then I
- 32:42Speaker 4: think we should also talk about the division of labor,
- 32:45Speaker 4: like if we're talking about who's vacuuming and who's washing up,
- 32:48Speaker 4: and what.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Does that actually look like. I know that sometimes I go,
- 32:52Speaker 2: oh my god, Jeeve never cleans the bathroom. It's the worst.
- 32:56Speaker 4: Gabby's laughing because she spends a very significant amount of
- 32:59Speaker 4: her time at mine house. That's me with tunnel vision,
- 33:03Speaker 4: because that's just a job that I have elected to do.
- 33:06Speaker 4: There's no division of labor. But Gabby Steve does everything else.
- 33:10Speaker 3: See there's a yes, very domestic goddesses.
- 33:14Speaker 6: He's a perfect heath husband.
- 33:16Speaker 3: I think it's so hard to like track those things.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Like you say, it's easy with the budgeting because you
- 33:21Speaker 3: can literally sit down and go ABCD, it's black and white.
- 33:24Speaker 3: But then with division of labor, it's like if someone
- 33:27Speaker 3: thinks that they're doing something, it's very hard to take
- 33:30Speaker 3: them out of that.
- 33:31Speaker 5: And like you say, you get tunnel vision.
- 33:34Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, and you might have, and I'm not saying
- 33:36Speaker 4: you do it. I don't want to gaslight you into
- 33:38Speaker 4: thinking that you're the problem. You are absolutely not. But
- 33:40Speaker 4: like if I look at it and go we were
- 33:42Speaker 4: having a very isolated conversation and I go, oh, no,
- 33:45Speaker 4: Steve never cleans the bathroom.
- 33:48Speaker 2: That's kind of actually true.
- 33:50Speaker 4: Does that mean that he's a bad person when it
- 33:52Speaker 4: comes to division of labor? No, because everyone on my
- 33:55Speaker 4: team knows he does way more than me. I've never
- 33:57Speaker 4: taken out the bins.
- 33:58Speaker 2: I can't remember the last time I emptied the dishwasher.
- 34:01Speaker 5: I've even done those things at me.
- 34:05Speaker 4: All right, moving on, But I think it's one of
- 34:08Speaker 4: those things where you know, we'll sit down and have
- 34:11Speaker 4: a think. Like sometimes in relationships, there might be and
- 34:15Speaker 4: I don't ever want to call them boy and girl tasks,
- 34:17Speaker 4: but there might be tasks that he does that he's like, no,
- 34:20Speaker 4: I am, but you don't see them, and vice versa,
- 34:22Speaker 4: because if he's not seeing them and you're not seeing them,
- 34:25Speaker 4: maybe he doesn't see how much you're contributing.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Maybe he grew up in a household.
- 34:29Speaker 4: Where his mom did literally everything for him and it's
- 34:32Speaker 4: just something he didn't think about when it comes to
- 34:34Speaker 4: doing washing or finding his undies or you know.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Literally doing anything of that type.
- 34:39Speaker 4: So I think having a conversation about, Okay, what does
- 34:42Speaker 4: division of labor look like right now? Once we get
- 34:45Speaker 4: that solid, maybe we can talk about having kids, because
- 34:48Speaker 4: if after that you still don't want to have kids
- 34:50Speaker 4: with that man, that's a red flag.
- 34:53Speaker 5: You don't want to have kids.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Oh that's a different story.
- 34:56Speaker 4: Let's pray we're just assuming that she's in a position
- 34:59Speaker 4: where she does want to have a baby.
- 35:00Speaker 2: She just doesn't look at a baby with that man
- 35:02Speaker 2: right now.
- 35:03Speaker 5: I hate these dms when we're like we just need like.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Hey, I always want the contracts. I'm a bad Can I.
- 35:10Speaker 5: Call you get them on?
- 35:11Speaker 2: Give me your goss like I need it? Oh my god?
- 35:13Speaker 2: What else did he do? Does he cook dinner? What
- 35:15Speaker 2: does he cook? Can he cook?
- 35:16Speaker 5: It sounds like she does want to talk about kids.
- 35:19Speaker 8: She does.
- 35:20Speaker 5: It's so she like, like she said, she's starting to
- 35:22Speaker 5: resent him.
- 35:23Speaker 7: It's not equal, doesn't feel like equal playing field. So
- 35:25Speaker 7: she's just going to get another thing umped on her.
- 35:27Speaker 4: Yeah, and tell your partners, like if they're not contributing
- 35:30Speaker 4: enough tell them.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Victoria said, it's very sexy. It's very sexy. It's a
- 35:35Speaker 2: turn on for sure, turn out of ten.
- 35:37Speaker 4: All right, let's leave it there, because otherwise I will
- 35:39Speaker 4: gloat way too much about my husband.
- 35:41Speaker 2: We have a lot of New.
- 35:42Speaker 4: York to explore and spend money on. Magnolia Bakery. You
- 35:46Speaker 4: better watch out.
