- Shaun: Welcome back to the reset. I am Sean Tucker, human performance scientist and authority architect. We are here in the living lab documenting the science, the struggle, and shift for every high performance dad and founder who's ready to bridge the gap between their presence and their ambition. Today, I'm going to talk about something you probably are aware of, but maybe you've never heard it this way. Every single level of chaos, there is A level of order. And this is just purely dependent on your perspective and perception. So, how do you reach a new perspective or perception to find that level of order in the chaos? That's what I want to get into today. Because ultimately, if you're a dad and you really struggle to find those moments where you're with your kids. And you can't be present because you're focused on what's happening at work or what's happening on your relationship, whatever whatever's going on. Could be a million things going on in your brain at the one time. This episode is exactly for you. Could even be that you're in a boardroom and you're still I don't know, you're just not present and you can't really see or make a decision that's gonna bring that order back to the chaos. Because there's a few things that you can control when things are really getting out of control. Number one is your breathing. First thing you want to do and first thing you want to bring into your awareness is how you are breathing. Is it slow? Is it controlled? Is your mouth open? Are you breathing with your mouth open? It's probably an indicator that you need to slow down a little bit. 'Cause your body's struggling to keep up with what your head is trying to tell back to your body. So just slow down a little bit. That's the first one. Second one is actually taking taking control of the rhythm of your breathing. Through the nose, out from the mouth. You can have a pause at the top or the bottom of the breath. Just make sure it's structured breathing. If you want to bring more ⁓ let's say, awareness and perception into your into your way, let's say extend your exhale breath. Make your exhales longer than your inhales. So four seconds inhale, eight seconds exhale. That'll just allow your body to catch up to what's happening in the moment. That's number two. Number three is be aware of your posture. This is also a huge ⁓ thing I've had to learn through many years of helping people in with my health science background and personal training background. Had to understand why people get stuck in their postures. It's not about just, you know, forcing the posture there 'cause they'll be able to hold it for a second, but then what's their default posture? What's the situational posture bringing to their body? Are they like really kyphhotic? Shoulders rounded forward, chest concaved? This probably means that they're not processing some form of loss or grief in their body, usually. Remember this is not diagnosing what's happening. This is purely information and educational purposes only. So if you do think you have these kind of things going on in the background, make sure you see someone who can help you. See a professional. See your allied health professional, a healthcare professional. So three is your posture. Number four is noticing. In your body, where the discomfort is. This is all things you can take control of in any moment, right? But you gotta start with number one and move your way through to number two, number three and number four. Using pauses, using ways to interrupt the pattern. Cause the default pattern is reaction. You're reacting to what's happening. If you want to take control, you've got to learn how to slow down to measure your locus of control. And to pace yourself. Cause that's all you can really do is you can only pace yourself. That's all. You can only pace your breathing. You got four parts to your breath. That's the four things you can control. It's about learning to pace. Bring yourself back to the body. Body is quite smart. It's a lot smarter than you realise. This ⁓ human brain will try and convince you otherwise. But this is why we listen to the intelligence of the body. and let the mind take in the information. and discern what's what's going on. So yeah, those are some really practical tips in how to handle any situation and bring some form of order to the chaos. If you need help on these things and bringing these tools into your life, make sure you comment the word I am in. And I'll make sure I reach out to you personally. Because they're simple but they're not easy to implement. Thanks for tuning in today. That brings us to the end of the episode. And if you're ready to stop being a passenger in your own life and start being the architect of your legacy, make sure you comment the word reset and I'll send you the seven day integrity reset. Most people wait for their life to change. We are the ones who architect the choice. Change your state. Choose how you show up. I am Sean Tucker. I'll see you in the next one.
