- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, Adam here. If you have problems sleeping,
- 0:43or perhaps it's fine getting to sleep, but then you wake up in
- 0:46the middle of the night and you can't get back to sleep, then I
- 0:50think you might get some value from this session.
- 0:52I was working with a client that would regularly go to sleep for
- 0:57about four hours, maybe five hours, but then wake up.
- 1:01And when they would wake up they would do an audit of themselves.
- 1:05Sometimes they felt they needed to go to the toilet or sometimes
- 1:08it would be something else, but they would struggle to get back
- 1:11to sleep once they'd woken up after that four or five hours.
- 1:17And this hypnosis session is all about sleeping for 8 hours.
- 1:22The 8 hours represents the ideal sleep time.
- 1:26For you. It was 8 hours for the client.
- 1:29For you it might be 7 hours, it might be 9 hours.
- 1:31So just consider the 8 hours, whatever your optimum level.
- 1:36Of sleep is. Now this hypnosis session uses
- 1:40various metaphors, various levels of disassociation, lots
- 1:44of direct suggestions, and at the end it really has the
- 1:49awakening of if you're ready to go to sleep, then there is no
- 1:52awakening. You just drift off to sleep.
- 1:55And this is ideal if you're listening in bed right before
- 1:58you go to sleep. But if you are listening, let's
- 2:01say early afternoon, it can prime you to have a good night's
- 2:05sleep later, in which case the ending gives you the ability to
- 2:09awaken if you're not ready to sleep, and drift off to sleep if
- 2:14you are. There's a bit going on here.
- 2:17It was calibrated to the individual client.
- 2:19But if you like the idea of having a full night's sleep,
- 2:24there should be something in this hypnosis session that
- 2:26connects and resonates with you. Normally on a session like this,
- 2:32I would have a adverts throughout and an outro at the
- 2:38end. On this particular episode,
- 2:40because it's a sleep episode, you might see the odd advert
- 2:44before the hypnosis starts, but you will see no adverts once the
- 2:49hypnosis starts and there will be no outro at the end.
- 2:53And if you like a version of this which has no intro, no
- 2:57outro, no explanation like I'm doing now and no ads at all,
- 3:01there will be a subscriber version which is also published.
- 3:05And it costs a few pennies per day to become a subscriber.
- 3:08It's £5 a month, about $7.00 a month.
- 3:13And that means that you get. Access to all.
- 3:15Of my hypnosis recordings that I've published without the
- 3:19intro, the outro, the explanation, or the ads, I think
- 3:22there's about 100 episodes there so far, and if you like just
- 3:26pure hypnosis, that's probably worth it because it's not that
- 3:31much and you get the hypnosis without any explanation.
- 3:35Equally, if you like the idea of working with me and this session
- 3:39doesn't quite do it for you, there will be a link in the
- 3:42description where you can schedule a completely free
- 3:44consultation call to have a chat about working with me direct.
- 3:48That link will be in the show notes, but you can also find it
- 3:52at adamcox.co.uk. Now, normally I would recommend
- 3:56that you find a quiet place that you wouldn't be interrupted.
- 4:00For this specific one, I would encourage you to listen to it
- 4:04while you're in bed, while you've got everything organized
- 4:07so that if you do drift off to sleep, you don't have to then
- 4:10wake up later and do something like switch off the light or
- 4:14check the doors or anything like that.
- 4:17So ideally, get yourself ready to sleep and listen to this in
- 4:21the place where you would normally fall asleep and then
- 4:24relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, breathing
- 4:56in through your nose, filling your lungs, feeling your belly
- 5:03rise as your diaphragm expands and as you exhale, feel like a
- 5:12sigh, a release. That's it.
- 5:18Breathing in, relaxation and exhaling Any thoughts, worries
- 5:28or concerns? That's in.
- 5:35As you breathe in and breathe out, feel a wave of relaxation
- 5:44around your throat, your nostrils, you windpipe all the
- 5:49way down into your lungs. want you to think back to a time
- 6:14when you were being read. A story.
- 6:20Perhaps it's even a bedtime story.
- 6:24And imagine being read. A story about magic.
- 6:32I want you to imagine there's a story where a magician has magic
- 6:41sleeping dust. I want you to imagine the
- 6:46colour, the density of that magic sleeping dust, the kind of
- 6:54sleeping dust that could send someone into a deep dreamlike
- 7:01sleep. And sometimes when we hear a
- 7:05story, we can imagine being a character in that story.
- 7:15And I want you to imagine that you are in a bed, a comfortable
- 7:23bed, maybe a familiar bed, head on a pillow, feeling that
- 7:32feeling of being drowsy, And I want you to imagine that colour
- 7:51of that magic dust is subtle, but it's there in that room.
- 7:58And as you imagine breathing in deeply, imagine this magic
- 8:05sleepy dust going into your lungs and making you drowsy.
- 8:17And sometimes when people feel drowsy, they can imagine
- 8:20yawning, can imagine their eyelids getting heavier.
- 8:28You can imagine the breathing getting slower, the heaviness of
- 8:34their arms and legs. And just imagine being a
- 8:39character in a story. Because of that sleeping dust,
- 8:45you drift into a dreamlike sleep.
- 8:50And in that dream you have the power to visit other realities
- 8:59and other dimensions. Eyelids getting heavier, arms
- 9:06getting more and more relaxed. And I want you to dream.
- 9:13Dream about being able to travel through space-time, and
- 9:21dimensions. I want you to imagine infinite
- 9:31parallel universes, and in each of those other realities, in
- 9:37this multiverse, the different version of you exists still you.
- 9:48Genetically, biologically, it's you.
- 9:54But in each reality there is a subtle difference.
- 10:00And I want you to imagine drifting through space and time
- 10:06and observing a version of you that if every possible reality
- 10:16has the best quality of sleep, a version of you then sleeps
- 10:24within minutes. And when you do sleep, sleep for
- 10:30seven or eight hours non-stop. And when you do wake up, you
- 10:36wake up refreshed, rejuvenated. And on those rare occasions that
- 10:42you wake up in the night, observe how that version of you
- 10:50treat theaters. No big deal.
- 10:56And maybe go to the toilet. And maybe you don't.
- 11:01Maybe you awaken for a few minutes and maybe you don't.
- 11:06But it's boring, mundane. That version of you has a belief
- 11:14that it doesn't matter if you wake up, because before long
- 11:20you'll drift back to sleep. And when you drift back to
- 11:25sleep, you will sleep better than before you awoke.
- 11:35There are some people the best sleep they get are those minutes
- 11:43after hitting the snooze button on an alarm at 8:00 or 9 minutes
- 11:52can be 9 minutes of dreamlike sleep that feels like half an
- 11:57hour, which means the latency is they get back to sleep within
- 12:06seconds. So observe this other version of
- 12:12you and notice that every area of your life is identical.
- 12:22Same house, same bed, same everything.
- 12:29Same habits like the same TV shows.
- 12:33The only difference is that version of you gets to sleep
- 12:42quickly and sleeps well for a long period of time.
- 12:53They have a different belief. They believe they will sleep
- 12:57well and they do sleep well. They don't have an idea then
- 13:09they have to sleep well in order for the next day to be a good
- 13:12day. They just assume that they will
- 13:17sleep well. I want you to imagine seeing the
- 13:25ritual, the routine they do before they put their head on
- 13:29the pillow like an invisible observer just watching, and
- 13:36imagine what it would be like to do what they do.
- 13:42Think the same way, believe the same beliefs, have the same
- 13:47inner dialogue. And when you've seen that
- 13:51version of you in that other reality having incredibly good
- 13:58quality sleep, then imagine on the very next night stepping
- 14:07into them experience being this other version of you that sleeps
- 14:16really well. Imagine drifting off to sleep
- 14:21quickly and how good that feels. Imagine having really good
- 14:31quality deep sleep. Imagine having vivid dreams in
- 14:38the REM sleep. Perhaps you see that version of
- 14:44you that heart rate volatility is low, resting heartbeat
- 14:51stable. And just imagine what it would
- 14:58be like to sleep like that. Imagine what it would feel like
- 15:09to drift off to sleep at 10 and naturally wake up the next day
- 15:17at 6-8 hours of quality sleep. And imagine that happens day
- 15:28after day after day. Imagine living that way, so that
- 15:34your frame of reference is that this is what sleep is like.
- 15:40Drowsy, relaxed, comfortable. Sleeping deeply and then waking
- 15:49up, but only after you are refreshed and rejuvenated.
- 16:00Paradoxically, that version of you is going to enter a
- 16:04dreamlike sleep, dreaming about a different version of you in a
- 16:12different reality. Now imagine that you are the
- 16:21version of you that sleeps well, and you get to observe different
- 16:28versions of you that sleeps differently.
- 16:38What if you become a voice to those other versions of you to
- 16:46share things that intuitively help you sleep, but those other
- 16:53versions of you don't know that, because this version of you
- 16:59knows that there's nothing you need to do to make sleep happen.
- 17:07Sleep is not something you do. It's something that happens when
- 17:14you stop doing, when the effort stops.
- 17:20And you may already notice that the more you allow your body to
- 17:26be exactly as it is, the more it begins to do what it already
- 17:36knows how to do. That's it.
- 17:43Feel the weight of your eyelids and let your body begin to sink
- 17:51gently, naturally, as if gravity itself is assisting you and you
- 17:59don't need to relax, you don't need to try, and you don't need
- 18:04to manage sleep at all. Give yourself permission to
- 18:10believe that sleep happens without supervision.
- 18:18Imagine projecting a thought to every other reality of you that
- 18:24you are not responsible for sleep, that sleep is not your
- 18:30job, it's not your task, it's not your duty to make tomorrow
- 18:36better by controlling tonight. And your body has slept
- 18:43successfully thousands of times without effort, instruction or
- 18:49monitoring. And tonight it can do that
- 18:53again. And as you rest there, thinking
- 19:01about the versions of you that don't sleep as well as you do, I
- 19:07want you to access their reality and scan your mind to become
- 19:16aware of a part of you. A part with a good intention.
- 19:25A part that learned, for good or bad at some point, that if I
- 19:30sleep well, tomorrow will be better, and if I sleep poorly,
- 19:37tomorrow will be worse. And I want you to thank that
- 19:43part because it meant well. It wanted to protect you, it
- 19:51wanted to optimize outcomes. It wanted to help.
- 19:59So acknowledge that part now, not as a problem, but as an over
- 20:08responsible helper. Thank it because the intention
- 20:17was positive. Even if it's led to.
- 20:21Frustration and. Interruptions and tiredness.
- 20:26The intention underlying it was good, but allow that part
- 20:34without good intention to become curious.
- 20:42And what if that part can learn something important?
- 20:48What if the best way to help tomorrow is not by managing
- 20:52sleep? What if the best possible thing
- 20:56they can do to help sleep is to simply get out of the way?
- 21:07You know someone in your life where their heart is in the
- 21:09right place, they have good intentions, but whenever they
- 21:14try and make things better, they end up making things worse.
- 21:20And imagine that that part is within you.
- 21:24The very part that wants to help you sleep is interfering with
- 21:30the sleep. That part was trying to ensure
- 21:37sleep. But trying to ensure sleep
- 21:42paradoxically creates alertness. Trying to force or guarantee
- 21:49sleep creates pressure. And what if that pressure is
- 21:54interfering with the sleep itself?
- 22:01And what if that part doesn't need to work at night anymore?
- 22:07What if its job is finished before bedtime begins?
- 22:14And what if we write a new part? A part that makes you feel safe
- 22:24and relaxed and drowsy when sleeping?
- 22:29And that old part, what if we give it a new, more effective
- 22:34role? A role where it can still help,
- 22:41but in a way that supports deep, uninterrupted sleep.
- 22:51Allow that part. Give it permission to stand down
- 22:55during the night. It can release any monitoring,
- 23:01release any checking, release any urgency.
- 23:08It's new job is simply this, to facilitate sleep all the way
- 23:18through the night. Nothing else.
- 23:24All it has to do is to stop doing what it has been doing.
- 23:33No checking, no deciding, no evaluating.
- 23:38Just allowing The next time you sleep, you
- 23:57sleep for a full 8 hours in a row.
- 24:02You do not need to wake up. There is no reason to wake up.
- 24:10Your body remains comfortable, settled and still.
- 24:17If your body shifts position, it stays asleep.
- 24:24If your mind drifts, it stays asleep.
- 24:30If sensations appear, they fade without needing a response.
- 24:41You don't need to use the toilet at night.
- 24:48Your body is capable of peeing in the morning.
- 24:54There is no need to wake up, and so your bladder remains quiet
- 25:01and unimportant and any low level signal is ignored
- 25:07completely. There is no need to check, there
- 25:13is no need to respond. Your body knows how to sleep
- 25:21through the night, and tonight it does exactly that.
- 25:36Intentionally or not, at some level Sleep became a high stakes
- 25:47event. Sleep is no longer a high stakes
- 25:53event. Tomorrow does not depend on
- 25:57tonight, and your worth or quality of life does not depend
- 26:03on the the quality of your sleep.
- 26:07Your success does not depend on control or coercion.
- 26:15Sleep returns to what it always has been and always was meant to
- 26:21be. A natural, effortless background
- 26:28process. I want you to think of an old
- 26:34pet, an animal that when they needed to sleep, they slept.
- 26:43Babies can sleep 15 or 16 hours a day.
- 26:49They didn't need to learn anything.
- 26:51Think about anything. A human and any mammal knows how
- 27:00to simply sleep. It's natural.
- 27:05There's nothing you need to do. In fact, by doing less, you
- 27:11sleep more. Think of sleeping like
- 27:15breathing, like digestion, like healing.
- 27:23It can happen without involvement.
- 27:30If you cut your finger, you can't make it heal any faster by
- 27:37willing it. It will heal in its own way.
- 27:45Your brain, your body knows how to sleep, and the more you stop
- 27:56trying to sleep, the deeper you sleep, the less you care about
- 28:05sleep. The longer you sleep, the more
- 28:13ordinary sleep becomes, the more completely it fills the night. 8
- 28:24hours can pass easily, smoothly without interruption.
- 28:36Before long you will imagine that sleeping for 8 hours is
- 28:45your default and anything else is the exception.
- 28:54So from now on, each night is training the next night and your
- 29:02system is learning that waking is unnecessary, monitoring is
- 29:08unnecessary, that your brain and body knows how to sleep all the
- 29:17way through. Each night becomes easier than
- 29:22the last as your unconscious. Let's go of all of the positive
- 29:31intentions that were making things worse.
- 29:40Sleep is no longer something you manage, it's something that
- 29:45happens automatically. No need to wake up.
- 29:53But if you do, no big deal. And now there's nothing left to
- 29:59do, nothing left to think about. Getting left to manage.
- 30:08Your unconscious mind can take over completely.
- 30:15And you can sleep now deeply, fully and continuously for the
- 30:24entire night. If you're listening to this to
- 30:32train your unconscious how to sleep later tonight when you
- 30:40want to sleep, then when I count from 1:00 to 10:00, you will
- 30:45awaken. And later when you do sleep, you
- 30:52will sleep deeply, fully and completely.
- 31:00But if you're listening to this and your head is already on the
- 31:04pillow, you are already in bed, ready to drift off into that
- 31:11deep, rejuvenating sleep. Then as I count from one to 10,
- 31:19each number will simply enable you to drift from hypnosis into
- 31:27sleep, and you will awaken when it is time to awaken the
- 31:35following morning, when it's time to wake up, after that deep
- 31:43rejuvenating sleep starting to count.
- 31:52So you get to drift to wherever you need to be, 123, 456, 78, 9
- 32:13and 10.
