Transcript
- 0:01Lisa Hopkins: Hey there.
- 0:04Lisa Hopkins: This is a guided meditation designed to support you through jet lag, that disorienting space where your body and the clock just don't quite agree.
- 0:20Lisa Hopkins: Rather than trying to push yourself into sleep or wakefulness, this practice invites your system to gently reorient, to notice where you are, what time it is now, and to offer your body clear, calm signals of safety and arrival.
- 0:46Lisa Hopkins: You can listen seated or lying down.
- 0:51Lisa Hopkins: If your eyes want to close, let them.
- 0:54Lisa Hopkins: Don't fight it.
- 0:58Lisa Hopkins: If they prefer to stay open, simply soften your gaze.
- 1:04Lisa Hopkins: As always, there's nothing to fix here.
- 1:07Lisa Hopkins: Just a body learning where it is.
- 1:12Lisa Hopkins: Just a body wanting to protect you from discomfort.
- 1:26Lisa Hopkins: We're going to begin by noticing your breath exactly as it is.
- 1:31Lisa Hopkins: No effort, no correction.
- 1:37Lisa Hopkins: Feel the air enter and leave your body.
- 1:47Lisa Hopkins: Bring your attention to the points of contact between your body and the surface beneath you, the weight of your body settling, and the simple fact, the simple truth of being supported wherever you are.
- 2:09Lisa Hopkins: You are here now.
- 2:14Lisa Hopkins: Even if parts of you feel tired or wired, foggy or out of sync, this moment is real and you are in it.
- 2:28Lisa Hopkins: I know that sometimes it can feel scary to feel misaligned or out of sync.
- 2:38Lisa Hopkins: But remind yourself it's perfectly natural and trust that your body will recalibrate.
- 2:46Lisa Hopkins: And it does not need fear to do so.
- 2:56Lisa Hopkins: I want you to gently bring awareness to the space around you.
- 3:01Lisa Hopkins: And without labeling or judging, simply notice the quality of light, the temperature of the air, the sounds near you and maybe even further away.
- 3:28Lisa Hopkins: Invite your nervous system to take in these signals not as information to analyze, but as reassurance.
- 3:39Lisa Hopkins: This is where you are now, and in this moment you are safe.
- 3:54Lisa Hopkins: Begin now to slightly lengthen your exhale just a little.
- 4:00Lisa Hopkins: With each breath out, imagine sending a message to your body.
- 4:08Lisa Hopkins: You can update now.
- 4:11Lisa Hopkins: You don't have to stay on the old schedule.
- 4:18Lisa Hopkins: If it helps, you might silently say, This is morning now, or this is evening now.
- 4:30Lisa Hopkins: Whatever is true wherever you are.
- 4:33Lisa Hopkins: Let the breath carry that message gently inward.
- 4:40Lisa Hopkins: You know, we have a tendency to rationalize and to try to calculate what time is it really?
- 4:50Lisa Hopkins: If I left eight hours ago and there's a three-hour time difference, then oh my gosh.
- 4:55Lisa Hopkins: And that's where the fear comes from.
- 4:59Lisa Hopkins: So the invitation is to accept, acknowledge that you are here right now.
- 5:11Lisa Hopkins: And whatever time it is there is the time that you are in.
- 5:26Lisa Hopkins: The message of what time it is, whether it's morning or evening, or where you are.
- 5:34Lisa Hopkins: Sometimes it's just helpful to say, I am in a hotel, or I am whatever it is, wherever you are, whatever's helpful.
- 5:53Lisa Hopkins: So we're going to do a little resetting of the internal clock here.
- 5:58Lisa Hopkins: And I just want you to bring your attention to the center of your chest.
- 6:07Lisa Hopkins: Imagine a soft internal dial, nothing mechanical or rigid, just a gentle rhythmic internal dial.
- 6:18Lisa Hopkins: You're not spinning it or snapping it into place.
- 6:24Lisa Hopkins: You're allowing it like a compass, like a needle on a compass, to slowly adjust, to match the day and night where you are now.
- 6:40Lisa Hopkins: Like that gravitational pull, that magnetic pull that we all have, allow it to adjust and trust that your body knows how to do this, even if it takes a little time.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: But there's no rush.
- 7:08Lisa Hopkins: And in those spaces where you feel fear creeping in, let it go.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: You're already adjusting.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: You're gonna be just fine.
- 7:29Lisa Hopkins: Notice if there's any pressure to get it right, to be awake when you think you should be, or asleep when you think you should be.
- 7:40Lisa Hopkins: There are no shoulds here, my friend.
- 7:44Lisa Hopkins: Trust.
- 7:47Lisa Hopkins: Soften.
- 7:50Lisa Hopkins: See if you can soften that expectation, that pressure to get it right.
- 7:59Lisa Hopkins: Jet lag is not a failure of discipline.
- 8:02Lisa Hopkins: It's simply a body adjusting to the journey.
- 8:08Lisa Hopkins: And our bodies, man, they're incredible if we allow them to just do what they do to allow.
- 8:23Lisa Hopkins: Offer yourself the same patience that you'd offer a child waking up in a new place.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: Breathe and center.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Take one more slow breath in and an easy breath out.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: And know that this practice doesn't end here.
- 8:58Lisa Hopkins: Your body will keep recalibrating, whether you're thinking about it or not.
- 9:06Lisa Hopkins: Minute by minute, hour by hour, night by night.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: Trust it.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: Give it space and listen to it.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: There's no place for fear here.
- 9:37Lisa Hopkins: You can return to this meditation whenever you need a reminder.
- 9:42Lisa Hopkins: I'm here now.
- 9:45Lisa Hopkins: My body is learning.
- 9:50Lisa Hopkins: My body is taking care of me.
- 9:56Lisa Hopkins: And when you're ready, if your eyes were closed, just simply allow them to open.
- 10:02Lisa Hopkins: And carry this sense of orientation with you into the next part of the day.
- 10:10Lisa Hopkins: You can return here any time you want.
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: But the bottom line is there's nothing to fear.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: You're already on the way to adjusting.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: Namaste, my friends.
