- 0:00podcast.
- 0:01I'm Eileen Kopsoftis,
- 0:03and I have the distinct pleasure of
- 0:06introducing a dear friend and colleague of
- 0:09mine whom I've known for many years.
- 0:11We've spoken on the same conference stage
- 0:14more than once, and I've heard her speak.
- 0:17And what I love about your work, Mary,
- 0:21and I'll introduce you in a moment,
- 0:22is the fact that it's so outside the
- 0:24box.
- 0:26And we're going to really have a lot
- 0:28of fun unpacking this in this time
- 0:29together.
- 0:30But I will introduce you first.
- 0:32So this is Mary Marshall.
- 0:34And Mary is an RN with a very
- 0:36long history of working in the fields of
- 0:37health and wellness.
- 0:39She has led and facilitated both community
- 0:42and workplace wellness programs.
- 0:44She's also spent many years as a fitness
- 0:46instructor.
- 0:47So she's got a little bit of diversity
- 0:48there.
- 0:49And in all of these fields,
- 0:51she felt great compassion for those
- 0:54feeling frustration and shame around their
- 0:59weight.
- 1:00And this is a heavy topic,
- 1:02no pun intended,
- 1:04that led her to create mindset over
- 1:07weight,
- 1:08which is an approach that incorporates
- 1:10intuitive eating.
- 1:12And we're going to be unpacking that
- 1:13today.
- 1:14It's a weight neutral approach to health
- 1:18and, of course, mindset.
- 1:19to achieve one's dreams of your best
- 1:22health and your best life.
- 1:25So welcome, Mary.
- 1:28Thank you so much for being here.
- 1:31And first, I think I would like,
- 1:33I mean, I did just read your bio,
- 1:34but if you could give us just a
- 1:35little more detail about what really drew
- 1:39you into this, because, you know,
- 1:41there's so much information out there
- 1:44about weight and
- 1:45I mean, oh my gosh,
- 1:47if you went on the internet,
- 1:48you're going to see millions and millions
- 1:50of sources and resources and options.
- 1:54So tell me a little bit about why
- 1:57you took this daunting task on and how
- 2:01you felt what you offer was missing.
- 2:03Right.
- 2:06Well, thanks, Eileen,
- 2:07and thank you for having me and inviting
- 2:09me to be on the podcast.
- 2:12It's always nice to spend time with you.
- 2:16But as you said,
- 2:17I'm a nurse and started out doing adult
- 2:21medicine.
- 2:22And then when I became a mom,
- 2:26I kind of backed off my work hours
- 2:29and did some nursing homework,
- 2:31some casual home care.
- 2:34And in all of that, you know,
- 2:36I kind of ended up coming to that,
- 2:38like,
- 2:40we can do better than this for people,
- 2:43right?
- 2:43I even kind of found myself when I
- 2:46was working in the nursing home,
- 2:48realizing how expensive it was.
- 2:50thinking for a little bit,
- 2:52and this is before I ever learned anything
- 2:54about mindset, thinking,
- 2:56I better start saving.
- 2:57We better start saving so we can afford
- 2:59this someday.
- 3:01And then I was like, what?
- 3:02Like, no, no, no.
- 3:05I'm not thinking that at all.
- 3:09You know, I just wanted to reject that,
- 3:11but I still felt like we have to
- 3:14do better for people.
- 3:16And then became more interested in
- 3:19you know, keeping myself healthy,
- 3:21learning what that is, and then becoming,
- 3:23as you said, a fitness instructor.
- 3:27And,
- 3:28and kind of being in all those places
- 3:30led me to then working in workplace
- 3:32wellness.
- 3:33And of course, you know,
- 3:35trying to keep people well,
- 3:39kind of ascribing to that, you know,
- 3:42that belief that, well,
- 3:44that's about weight loss,
- 3:45a big part of that is weight loss.
- 3:48And
- 3:49you just saw people, as I said,
- 3:51saw people feeling ashamed, struggling,
- 3:54trying really hard and continually
- 3:58struggling with weight, you know,
- 4:02losing and gaining and losing and gaining.
- 4:06And then I learned about the benefits of
- 4:09a whole food plant-based diet.
- 4:13And yes,
- 4:14weight loss is often a benefit of that.
- 4:17I also learned that,
- 4:18the importance of practicing informed
- 4:21healthcare decision-making and really
- 4:23knowing what you're practicing.
- 4:27But I saw people practicing, and again,
- 4:32smart people, people trying really hard,
- 4:37doing the plant-based thing,
- 4:39but still struggling with their weight and
- 4:42still feeling the shame and still feeling
- 4:46the fear.
- 4:48of all of that and then I so
- 4:51I started I went to look you know
- 4:53research like what maybe we just need to
- 4:56help people be healthy and not worry about
- 4:58this but I wanted to know is that
- 5:02can I tell people that is that the
- 5:04right thing to tell them right so I
- 5:07went to the research and really did what
- 5:10I found was so surprising to me and
- 5:15so shocking was that
- 5:19you know,
- 5:19people can be healthy across a wide range
- 5:22of weights.
- 5:23And that truly this gaining, losing,
- 5:25gaining, losing,
- 5:26which we call weight cycling,
- 5:28is very dangerous, you know,
- 5:31poses a lot of health risks for people,
- 5:34more so than maintaining a stable weight,
- 5:37even a stable weight and a higher BMI,
- 5:39right?
- 5:41And so in kind of learning about all
- 5:46that,
- 5:47I came to learn about
- 5:49intuitive eating and when people practiced
- 5:54a more intuitive approach to eating,
- 5:57eating in response to their internal
- 6:00signals, right?
- 6:01Instead of external rules or emotions or
- 6:05situations.
- 6:07And people were able to maintain weight
- 6:09better, health parameters that improved,
- 6:13state improved, and incidentally,
- 6:16weight loss,
- 6:17was maintained better as well when it did
- 6:20happen.
- 6:21So again,
- 6:23it was kind of like when I found
- 6:26out a lot of the benefits of,
- 6:29you know,
- 6:29eating a lot of plants and eating a
- 6:31plant-based diet and practicing informed
- 6:35healthcare, I just was like,
- 6:37people have to know, you know, it's,
- 6:40you know, it kind of, you,
- 6:42I know you share that approach too,
- 6:44Eileen, you're out to like,
- 6:46tell people how to get out of pain,
- 6:48how to age well.
- 6:49And it's just like, you gotta know.
- 6:52Yes.
- 6:53Yes.
- 6:53People have to know this stuff, you know,
- 6:55it's not mainstream knowledge,
- 6:56but it should be.
- 6:58So, so that's why we're doing this.
- 7:00Yes.
- 7:00So yeah.
- 7:02Thank you for that.
- 7:02And I, and I love how you said,
- 7:04you know, the mindset you caught yourself.
- 7:06about the nursing home future.
- 7:09And because it's the mainstream narrative
- 7:12that we've been fed,
- 7:14that's been shoved down our throats for
- 7:16decades about you're going to decline as
- 7:20you get older.
- 7:20Or in your field,
- 7:23if you don't lose weight,
- 7:23you can't be healthy.
- 7:25If you're not this perfect BMI,
- 7:27you're failing.
- 7:28You're doing something wrong.
- 7:30You're broken.
- 7:31There's
- 7:34I think that is probably the most tragic
- 7:39result of people struggling to lose weight
- 7:42is their identity.
- 7:44Their identity is attacked.
- 7:47So,
- 7:48so I'd love for you to tell me
- 7:50a little bit more about, you know,
- 7:53the mindset shift that's required to
- 7:57become an attuned eater,
- 7:58because I like how you said that I
- 8:00caught that little,
- 8:01it's about listening to your internal
- 8:04signals, not listening.
- 8:06like your cravings or your emotions or
- 8:09your,
- 8:10because some people are going to think,
- 8:11oh, I can just eat whatever I want.
- 8:12That's what intuitive eating is.
- 8:13And so I would love for you to
- 8:16clarify for those who might've gotten the
- 8:18wrong impression from that statement.
- 8:19Right.
- 8:22And I think that is,
- 8:23you said so many things there,
- 8:26but I'll answer your,
- 8:27I'll answer the question.
- 8:30It is, that is so much the perception.
- 8:32And I think why people
- 8:34sometimes are even afraid of intuitive
- 8:37eating because, well,
- 8:39I can't just let myself go and have
- 8:43whatever I want.
- 8:45And the mindset shift there is that we
- 8:48presume that what we want is all the
- 8:53stuff that is forbidden now, right?
- 8:59Because it's forbidden,
- 9:00that makes it so much more alluring to
- 9:03us, right?
- 9:06What is rare becomes desirable, right?
- 9:12So that's the mindset shift.
- 9:15One of the biggest ones we make is
- 9:16that actually,
- 9:19I always kind of use this little phrase
- 9:21in my newsletter.
- 9:22You're like, you're a pretty smart cookie,
- 9:23right?
- 9:25Your body knows,
- 9:26and you actually do develop.
- 9:28The more you practice,
- 9:31and I like to call it attuned eating,
- 9:34the more you practice tuning in to really
- 9:38when you are hungry and feeding yourself
- 9:43when you are hungry,
- 9:44giving your body fuel when it needs fuel,
- 9:48and then honoring your need for
- 9:51satisfaction because it truly is a need.
- 9:54It is important for us to find pleasure
- 9:59in food and enjoy our food and feel
- 10:02satisfied.
- 10:02Yeah, the reason we have this one is
- 10:04Yeah, right.
- 10:07Supposed to enjoy it.
- 10:09Food is supposed to taste good.
- 10:10Eating is supposed to be a pleasurable
- 10:12experience, no matter your size, right?
- 10:16We were designed that way because we need
- 10:19to eat to survive, right?
- 10:22And there's this, you know,
- 10:24that's another mindset shift, right?
- 10:27Like so many people who are of high
- 10:30weight, it's kind of like, well,
- 10:32you shouldn't.
- 10:34you know,
- 10:35you shouldn't want to enjoy your food.
- 10:37You should want to lose weight.
- 10:39Like,
- 10:39and you should give up enjoying your food
- 10:43if that's what you need to do to
- 10:44lose weight.
- 10:46You made a little mention of the GLP-ones.
- 10:48I mean, that makes people hate,
- 10:50not want to eat.
- 10:52Like, so, right.
- 10:55And I'm thinking people end up in that
- 10:57mental trap, right?
- 10:59because most of the time they're eating
- 11:03foods for other reasons for pleasure,
- 11:07but it's not because they're hungry.
- 11:09And so now they translate that over into,
- 11:13oh,
- 11:14wanting food that tastes good is bad for
- 11:17me because look how I ended up when
- 11:19I did that.
- 11:21You know,
- 11:22I'm so glad you kind of brought that
- 11:24up because mindset overweight is,
- 11:28isn't and attuned eating isn't as much as
- 11:33about not eating when for emotional
- 11:37reasons or you know in response to a
- 11:42craving it's not as much about not doing
- 11:46that interestingly as it is about actually
- 11:51feeding yourself when you're hungry
- 11:53feeding yourself enough to
- 11:56feel full, feel satisfied,
- 11:59giving yourself what feels,
- 12:03what it is that you recognize you need
- 12:07in that moment.
- 12:09And when you do that,
- 12:13when you do that, those other signals,
- 12:16the signals for, I need fuel,
- 12:18I need to eat,
- 12:19become more clearer and louder and better.
- 12:23And so the other signals
- 12:26The other signals of I'm stressed,
- 12:28I'm lonely, I'm bored, I'm, you know,
- 12:33I don't want to do this thing,
- 12:34so I'm going to eat instead.
- 12:37Those signals become more easily
- 12:40recognized for what are.
- 12:43So you become more attuned to many things,
- 12:46right?
- 12:47Not just your hunger signals,
- 12:49but your signals for your other needs.
- 12:52And that's what I love about the practice.
- 12:56is that people start recognizing, oh,
- 12:59yeah, I recognize I really, you know,
- 13:04I really needed a rest, right?
- 13:07I really needed to take a little bit
- 13:09of a break,
- 13:10or I was really feeling kind of lonely.
- 13:12What I really needed was to call my
- 13:14friend.
- 13:15So it sounds like a subtle difference,
- 13:19but it really is the more you focus
- 13:22on recognizing your needs and honoring
- 13:25them,
- 13:26the less, the clearer they get,
- 13:30the clearer the signals get,
- 13:32and the more you can honor and recognize
- 13:34and discern all your needs.
- 13:37You know,
- 13:38I love it because as you're talking about
- 13:40this,
- 13:40I'm kind of seeing the parallel because
- 13:42when I teach people how to assess their
- 13:45body,
- 13:46they're having to notice things and
- 13:50They're having to pay attention.
- 13:52And I tell them it's always a good
- 13:53idea to assess before you do some physical
- 13:56activity,
- 13:56whether it's some of the strategies I
- 13:58teach or movement or whatever,
- 14:00and then reassess after so that your
- 14:03nervous system and your fascial system can
- 14:06receive that information and learn from
- 14:09it.
- 14:09Yeah.
- 14:11And so that's essentially what you're
- 14:14doing is you're improving the efficiency
- 14:16of the communication that's happening in
- 14:18their body.
- 14:20And then their body is learning from that
- 14:22more efficient communication.
- 14:24So you're kind of changing their
- 14:26neurological responses and patterns.
- 14:29Yes.
- 14:31Yes.
- 14:31Yeah.
- 14:33Yeah, isn't that awesome?
- 14:34I know.
- 14:34I mean,
- 14:35the human body is just so stinking
- 14:36awesome.
- 14:37It's crazy.
- 14:37Yeah.
- 14:39So let's dive a little bit into,
- 14:42you know, a lot of people have heard.
- 14:44I love your newsletter.
- 14:45Your newsletter is amazing.
- 14:46Hopefully everybody listening will sign up
- 14:48for your newsletter.
- 14:50The one that just came out,
- 14:51I think it just came out today, right?
- 14:53Mm-hmm.
- 14:53Mm-hmm.
- 14:56our satisfaction when we eat, you know,
- 14:58those, those macronutrients,
- 15:00the one previous proteins and carbs,
- 15:03and then this one was on fat carbs.
- 15:05Yeah.
- 15:06And so,
- 15:08so many people are told that fat is
- 15:11the enemy and,
- 15:14and you're not telling them to, you know,
- 15:16pour a bunch of olive oil on their
- 15:17food.
- 15:17So I'm going to tell people right now,
- 15:19don't get me wrong.
- 15:22You're not going to take anybody out.
- 15:23Yeah.
- 15:25But I love how you brought up how
- 15:28it impacts those two all important
- 15:31signals, ghrelin and leptin.
- 15:35And a lot of people have heard those.
- 15:37So if you wouldn't mind kind of explaining
- 15:39those in a little more detail and how
- 15:42fat plays a role in that and it
- 15:45can actually sabotage people with some of
- 15:48the mindset they have about fat.
- 15:50Right.
- 15:52Yeah.
- 15:54And, you know,
- 15:54the last couple of episodes or episodes,
- 15:58issues,
- 15:59the one today and the previous one,
- 16:02I kind of felt, I don't know,
- 16:04I just felt like I had to spend
- 16:05a little time talking about nutrition in
- 16:10the newsletter,
- 16:12just to sort of balance that perception
- 16:16that there is about intuitive eating is
- 16:18just eating what you want and indulgence
- 16:21and
- 16:21and all of that.
- 16:23And so what I,
- 16:24what I find is so interesting is that,
- 16:27yeah, you know, we,
- 16:30the last issue was about carbohydrates and
- 16:33mostly carbohydrates and fiber and how,
- 16:37you know, we have these,
- 16:38these hormones in the body, you know,
- 16:40leptin,
- 16:41which is the kind of the I'm full
- 16:43signal gives the I'm full signal and
- 16:46ghrelin, which is the I'm hungry,
- 16:48feed me signal.
- 16:50And with the more whole foods are in
- 16:55general,
- 16:57the better their impact on your signaling,
- 16:59right?
- 17:00And with fats, as we talked about,
- 17:02and as I talked about in this issue,
- 17:05it was very interesting that saturated
- 17:11fats,
- 17:11which are your fats from animal foods.
- 17:14And again, you can think of, you know,
- 17:17nobody eats a,
- 17:19any animal food you eat is pretty
- 17:20processed, right?
- 17:21So that's from a processed,
- 17:25that's a processed food and a processed
- 17:28fat,
- 17:28but the saturated fats really give much
- 17:32less of a, I'm full leptin signal.
- 17:36And typically when we eat that grill and
- 17:40that I'm hungry,
- 17:40feed me signal gets suppressed as you
- 17:44know, we eat more.
- 17:45Well, there's,
- 17:47the saturated fats do less suppression of
- 17:52the ghrelin and less stimulation of the
- 17:57leptin.
- 17:58So,
- 17:58which means they actually entice you to,
- 18:04or set you up to eat more.
- 18:07Okay.
- 18:10Okay.
- 18:11Which, and you don't get to, you know,
- 18:13to just eat more.
- 18:14And also they tend to make you want
- 18:16more.
- 18:17fats as well.
- 18:19So which what the problem isn't fats are
- 18:24bad, let's make a new rule.
- 18:27What the lesson that I wanted to get
- 18:29across was, they mess up your signaling,
- 18:33you're not going to get good signals and
- 18:35get good information to give your body
- 18:38what it needs.
- 18:40Hmm.
- 18:41I love that.
- 18:41So I always think of Gremlin.
- 18:43I remember that movie Gremlin.
- 18:45And, you know, after.
- 18:45Yes.
- 18:46Yeah.
- 18:46You know, I'm hungry.
- 18:47I'm hungry.
- 18:49I'm hungry.
- 18:50You know, it's it's.
- 18:51Yes.
- 18:52And then the leptin tells you, OK,
- 18:54you're good.
- 18:55You're satisfied.
- 18:56Lovely leptin.
- 18:57I used to always I used to say
- 18:58like lovely leptin.
- 19:00So so the saturated fats in animal foods
- 19:04are completely disrupting that that
- 19:06efficiency of that signaling.
- 19:09So you're kind of essentially hearing a
- 19:12little more, I'm hungry, keep eating.
- 19:14You're not hearing, I'm satisfied,
- 19:16I'm done.
- 19:16Right.
- 19:18And it also gets you to crave eating
- 19:20even more fats.
- 19:21Yes.
- 19:23So saturated fats are really not our
- 19:25friend.
- 19:26Yes.
- 19:28But you weren't saying that all fats were
- 19:29bad, so...
- 19:32Right.
- 19:35The unsaturated fats from plant sources
- 19:40are much better at giving clearer signals.
- 19:47But fat in general, and this is just,
- 19:50again, I'm not saying fat is bad.
- 19:55I'm saying
- 19:56be informed when you're making your
- 19:58decisions and do your best to get the
- 20:01clearest signals you can.
- 20:04So plant fats, you know,
- 20:07give better signaling, better, you know,
- 20:11you get a better leptin response,
- 20:13better ghrelin suppression.
- 20:20And we'll just give people some examples,
- 20:21you know,
- 20:22the plant fats that you're talking about.
- 20:23So they're not thinking about olive oil,
- 20:25you know.
- 20:26right we're talking about olives walnuts
- 20:32flax seeds that you you want to make
- 20:34sure you grind your flax seeds before you
- 20:36eat them um avocados right and when you
- 20:40have when you eat plants in their whole
- 20:44food form they've got fiber they've got
- 20:47other nutrients right you're giving
- 20:50yourself you know more of what your body
- 20:54needs
- 20:55Right.
- 20:56So.
- 21:00And, you know, having that combination of,
- 21:03you know,
- 21:04fats with the fiber and with the other
- 21:06nutrients.
- 21:10Right.
- 21:10And nobody's going to just sit down and
- 21:11eat six avocados.
- 21:13I mean,
- 21:13it's now usually it's a condiment avocado
- 21:16on a sandwich, that kind of thing.
- 21:18Right.
- 21:19And in general, when you.
- 21:22In terms of signaling and, you know,
- 21:27it really is nice for your,
- 21:30the best results come from, you know,
- 21:33kind of carbohydrate, fiber,
- 21:38maybe a little bit of protein and some
- 21:40fat.
- 21:41Again, you know, we don't eat nutrients.
- 21:45We eat food.
- 21:47Right.
- 21:47I love when you made that.
- 21:49You wrote that.
- 21:49Yeah.
- 21:50Yeah.
- 21:50You're not eating a plate of carbohydrate
- 21:52and protein.
- 21:53You're eating.
- 21:54I had bean soup.
- 21:56Right.
- 21:57Yeah.
- 21:57Yeah, exactly.
- 22:00Yes.
- 22:00All right.
- 22:02So this mindset shift now.
- 22:10The whole diet culture just permeates the
- 22:14health and wellness industry,
- 22:16just permeates it.
- 22:17What's your BMI?
- 22:18What's this?
- 22:19What's that?
- 22:19And I remind myself,
- 22:22I spent eight months diving deep into the
- 22:24research to create an obesity and pain
- 22:26course because of how much excess weight
- 22:29creates more chronic pain,
- 22:31just widespread overall and increases
- 22:33risks of a lot of things.
- 22:35But it wasn't necessarily just because
- 22:37they were heavier on the scale.
- 22:39It had to do with, you know,
- 22:41the other issues.
- 22:43So that mindset shift that's required,
- 22:50that whole culture,
- 22:52how have you seen this work with people?
- 22:54I mean,
- 22:54do you find this is a major challenge
- 22:57or do you find that once people get
- 22:59it,
- 23:00it's like a light bulb goes off and
- 23:02they're set free kind of thing?
- 23:05I think it's, it's both.
- 23:07It is, it's challenging.
- 23:09And once you get it, the, you know,
- 23:15it is like, oh, it's kind of like,
- 23:21you know, with, with healthcare, you know,
- 23:23when I kind of sort of realized, oh,
- 23:27you know,
- 23:28just because something comes from
- 23:29mainstream medicine or a particular
- 23:32authoritative source, right.
- 23:35doesn't mean it's the best information.
- 23:38And once you,
- 23:40and I think that's why for me,
- 23:42it maybe was easier to incorporate and
- 23:46understand, but it is a difficult leap.
- 23:50But again, there's research,
- 23:53there's evidence, there's, you know,
- 23:57and I would say once people get it,
- 23:58it's like they're,
- 23:59and once then you start practicing and
- 24:03seeing it in action, right?
- 24:06It's like, oh, and you realize, oh,
- 24:09my brain is so much freer.
- 24:12Like I have so much more headspace to
- 24:14actually think and do things and get
- 24:17things done because I'm not being
- 24:20distracted with, oh, my gosh,
- 24:22I'm too heavy.
- 24:23I need to lose weight.
- 24:25I need to eat like this and do
- 24:28that.
- 24:31But, you know,
- 24:32I will say you still hear the messages
- 24:35that just because you've changed your
- 24:37mindset doesn't mean all that messaging
- 24:39goes away.
- 24:40So you have to like kind of see
- 24:42it and remind yourself all the time.
- 24:47Yeah.
- 24:47Yeah.
- 24:48And then obviously I have to have to
- 24:49teach that as well,
- 24:50because just because you decide to reject
- 24:52the narrative that it's not a required
- 24:55state to end up in a nursing home
- 24:56before you go below ground,
- 24:58you're still going to keep getting that
- 24:59messaging, even though you're.
- 25:01Exactly.
- 25:01Yeah.
- 25:01Yeah.
- 25:07So.
- 25:07So.
- 25:07Most feel like you have to defend yourself
- 25:10or, you know, against that all the time.
- 25:13Mm hmm.
- 25:14Yeah.
- 25:15So you talked about it's more dangerous to
- 25:19lose weight and gain weight,
- 25:20lose weight and gain weight,
- 25:21lose weight and gain weight.
- 25:22So how does weight loss actually drive
- 25:29weight regain from your perspective?
- 25:33Oh, that's like,
- 25:34thank you for asking that because that's
- 25:38the piece that so many people,
- 25:41piece of information so many people don't
- 25:43have.
- 25:45is that when you lose weight,
- 25:49and this is for the vast majority of
- 25:51people that lose weight, a design, right,
- 25:54intentionally, your body thinks,
- 25:59and this is because your body goes into
- 26:03a mode of protecting you, right?
- 26:05It's your body's role is always to help
- 26:09you survive.
- 26:10And it's always doing that.
- 26:11It's always working for your good.
- 26:14But it thinks you're starving.
- 26:17It doesn't know you want to wear that
- 26:19cute little black dress to your class
- 26:21reunion.
- 26:23It doesn't care.
- 26:24It's like, yes,
- 26:27we're starving to stay alive until the
- 26:29reunion.
- 26:29Yeah.
- 26:30Yes.
- 26:31And so what happens is.
- 26:35you kind of your brain makes you look
- 26:38for food.
- 26:39Why am I thinking about food all the
- 26:41time?
- 26:42Right?
- 26:42When people who are dieting,
- 26:44so all I can do is think about
- 26:46food.
- 26:46Well,
- 26:46that's your brain trying to keep you from
- 26:48starving to death.
- 26:51It makes highly palatable calorie dense
- 26:54foods seem more appealing.
- 26:57They are you're drawn to them more, right?
- 26:59What do you when you are
- 27:01When you go too long without eating and
- 27:03your blood sugar is low, right?
- 27:07What do you want?
- 27:08You crave the quickest,
- 27:10most energy dense candy or thing you need
- 27:13right away.
- 27:13And that's what your brain is doing.
- 27:16So people think, what's wrong with me?
- 27:17All I want is the sweet stuff,
- 27:19but I want to lose weight.
- 27:21It's not because you're broken or there's
- 27:23something wrong with you.
- 27:25That would be,
- 27:26that's the biggest message I want to make
- 27:29sure people hear here is,
- 27:31if you feel like you've been fighting,
- 27:34I hear people say,
- 27:34I've been fighting my body my whole life.
- 27:37You know, what's wrong with me?
- 27:39I just can't do this.
- 27:41I just can't stick with it.
- 27:42You know,
- 27:44it's because you have a body that must
- 27:46really love you,
- 27:47because it's trying to keep you alive.
- 27:51And help you survive.
- 27:52So, you know, that that, and that's,
- 27:57that's probably
- 27:59that's an even bigger mindset shift,
- 28:02right?
- 28:03Yeah, yeah.
- 28:04To realize you're not broken when you have
- 28:07those cravings.
- 28:08And I mean,
- 28:09it doesn't mean you want to give into
- 28:10them all and end up, you know,
- 28:11trashing your goals,
- 28:13but understanding why you have them and
- 28:16not blaming yourself for them.
- 28:18Right.
- 28:19And just eating what we, you know,
- 28:23just eating calorie dense,
- 28:25highly palatable foods, you know,
- 28:28the things that are,
- 28:29you know, people think of as bad foods.
- 28:33And I,
- 28:34that's a big thing I do is try
- 28:35to get people don't can think of foods
- 28:37as good or bad, even healthy or unhealthy,
- 28:41but lots of calories and a little bit
- 28:47like calorie dense, highly palatable, um,
- 28:51nutrient poor, nutrient rich,
- 28:54like to really be objective, um,
- 28:59But indulging in foods that,
- 29:03in all your forbidden foods, if you will,
- 29:06if you, that's no more,
- 29:09that's no more practicing self-care than
- 29:15not feeding yourself when you're hungry,
- 29:17giving yourself this much of whatever it
- 29:19is to eat and not eating till,
- 29:21you know, so many,
- 29:22till it's time to eat and really rigidly
- 29:28you know,
- 29:29enforcing rules that are making you
- 29:31miserable and not enjoying your food or
- 29:33taking medications that make you feel sick
- 29:36all the time.
- 29:39Neither one, neither,
- 29:42neither one of those two scenarios is
- 29:44practicing good self care.
- 29:46Yeah.
- 29:46And speaking of those medications,
- 29:48because you mentioned that earlier,
- 29:50the weight loss medications that now we
- 29:52can get at a lesser cost.
- 29:54I can't even.
- 29:56So,
- 29:57so many people are considering this as
- 30:00like the magic answer.
- 30:02They're not being fully informed.
- 30:05I visited some family members last summer
- 30:08in Texas,
- 30:10and my one cousin mentioned to me that
- 30:12they had put him on that medication to
- 30:16normalize his blood sugar.
- 30:18Now he wasn't technically diabetic.
- 30:21He was like pre-diabetic.
- 30:23So put him on this medication and he
- 30:26said, yeah,
- 30:27and it's working and I'm there and I'm
- 30:28there and I don't want to overeat and
- 30:30I don't want to.
- 30:31And I just looked now,
- 30:33of course I could have started lecturing
- 30:34him for a half hour,
- 30:35but we can't push a word.
- 30:36It's so hard not to sometimes.
- 30:38People aren't asking you the questions you
- 30:40just don't offer.
- 30:42I just simply said,
- 30:43consider me a resource.
- 30:46If you ever have any questions about this
- 30:48topic, you know, he's got a number.
- 30:50So,
- 30:51so I would love for you to kind
- 30:54of encapsulate what is the big danger
- 30:58about these medications?
- 31:00I mean, what have you seen?
- 31:02I know you've done a deep dive into
- 31:04the literature, the data.
- 31:05We've spoken on this many times.
- 31:08Share about that, please.
- 31:09So people know.
- 31:13I guess the most important thing to know
- 31:17is that just like dieting, right,
- 31:20which we know up to ninety eight percent
- 31:23of people when they lose weight,
- 31:24they don't keep it off.
- 31:26Right.
- 31:26When they diet.
- 31:29Same thing with the GLP ones.
- 31:32Right.
- 31:33People will lose weight.
- 31:34Right.
- 31:36But then I think the,
- 31:39it was less than two years.
- 31:41I think the initial studies were two years
- 31:43before they were even done.
- 31:44People were starting to trend back up and
- 31:47gain weight.
- 31:48So.
- 31:50Right.
- 31:51So even staying on the medication.
- 31:54Yes.
- 31:54Yes.
- 31:55So it's not that they stopped the
- 31:57medication.
- 31:58No, no, no on it.
- 32:00And the way it works to was trending
- 32:02up.
- 32:03Yes.
- 32:03So.
- 32:06Do you want to, you know,
- 32:08have all the side effects for what, right?
- 32:14And the side effects, I think, well,
- 32:17I want to say these medications work by,
- 32:22one of the main ways they work is
- 32:24they slow your gastric emptying.
- 32:26So your stomach,
- 32:27food stays in your stomach and your gut
- 32:29longer, so you don't feel full.
- 32:32They also mess with your signaling.
- 32:34Right.
- 32:34Your internal signaling.
- 32:36So you don't get that hunger drive.
- 32:40But when food is sitting in your stomach,
- 32:42have you ever been sick and you're like,
- 32:44oh, my gosh,
- 32:45that just has been sitting in my stomach
- 32:47forever.
- 32:47It's going to become this petri mess.
- 32:49Yes, it's terrible.
- 32:51So we're telling people, oh,
- 32:54just because you're fat, right,
- 32:56or high weight.
- 32:56And I say that in a just an
- 32:59objective way.
- 33:03You should feel sick all the time and
- 33:05you should not want to eat, right?
- 33:09It's cruel.
- 33:11It's heartbreaking to me.
- 33:13So there's that.
- 33:15There's also, you know, these one of the,
- 33:18and you're,
- 33:19I'm sure you know this and you recognize
- 33:22the danger of this.
- 33:24They leads to muscle wasting, right?
- 33:27Muscle wasting.
- 33:30that you're going to lower your basal
- 33:33metabolic rate.
- 33:33You're going to make yourself more prone
- 33:36to weakness, frailty,
- 33:39ending up in that nursing home.
- 33:42Blindness is another con you know,
- 33:45that's coming up, that's popping up.
- 33:46I just heard that mentioned.
- 33:48Um,
- 33:50but the worst thing about not the worst
- 33:54thing, I don't know if you,
- 33:55there's so many bad things about them,
- 33:57but, um,
- 33:59In my kind of, in my realm,
- 34:01what the worst thing is it's, it's like,
- 34:05just like following food rules or plans or
- 34:09diets, you're,
- 34:11you're obliterating your signals, right?
- 34:15Your, your internal signaling.
- 34:17And some of the ways these drugs work,
- 34:19they don't even know how it works on
- 34:22suppressing appetite.
- 34:23We don't even know what it's doing to
- 34:25your brain.
- 34:26or the rest of all this that can
- 34:31guide you and tells you and gives you
- 34:35those signals.
- 34:36Because there's no long-term clinical
- 34:38studies.
- 34:38I mean,
- 34:38we know that they study these things for
- 34:40a very short period of time,
- 34:41and then they're approved and they're out
- 34:42on the market.
- 34:43So we have no idea what these are
- 34:44going to do with people three, four,
- 34:46five years later,
- 34:47what fallout is going to happen.
- 34:50Right.
- 34:51And, you know,
- 34:52a lot of times when they do follow
- 34:54up studies,
- 34:55they only look for certain things.
- 34:57So you can't find what you don't look
- 34:58for either.
- 35:01Yes.
- 35:02And a lot of people don't realize that
- 35:03they'll sometimes cherry pick the
- 35:05subjects, too.
- 35:05I mean,
- 35:06there's my favorite study to mention,
- 35:09the one on pain med.
- 35:11And they actually chose people or they
- 35:14kept people out of the study that didn't
- 35:16respond to the med.
- 35:18So talk about stacking the deck in your
- 35:21favor.
- 35:22And they still feel like a fifteen percent
- 35:24effective rate,
- 35:25even with stacking the deck in favor and
- 35:27all kinds of high bias people work.
- 35:28That's the best they could do.
- 35:30So yeah.
- 35:31Yeah.
- 35:32So, and I do the clinical trials for,
- 35:35um, uh, for the GLP ones, uh,
- 35:40would go be, um,
- 35:42some maglutide were the vast majority of
- 35:47the patient population.
- 35:48I think we're white women, you know,
- 35:55which is not a good,
- 35:56not a good cross section of no relation.
- 35:59Hmm.
- 36:00Yeah.
- 36:01You're going to have different
- 36:03socioeconomic levels.
- 36:04You're going to have different everything.
- 36:07Yeah.
- 36:08And again, you know, they, they,
- 36:11they totally take all control away from
- 36:15you.
- 36:15You develop no discernment for your needs
- 36:19or your, you know,
- 36:22learning to take care of yourself.
- 36:26And I think they erode your,
- 36:27your trust in yourself.
- 36:28Right.
- 36:29Yeah.
- 36:29Oh, I need this.
- 36:31I can't do it.
- 36:32Signaling.
- 36:34And then you go off the medication.
- 36:37Then where are you?
- 36:38You're a hot mess.
- 36:38We don't know.
- 36:40Yeah, we don't know.
- 36:41Well, people, you know, people,
- 36:43when they do come off the medication,
- 36:45they just gain weight,
- 36:46the weight right back.
- 36:49And again,
- 36:50we haven't even talked about set point
- 36:52weight range today.
- 36:53But
- 36:54know when people experience especially a
- 36:57rapid weight loss the more rapid the you
- 37:00know your body again is like oh my
- 37:02god we've been starving i gotta you know
- 37:08that weight gain is just accelerated
- 37:10because your body's trying to protect you
- 37:13and it may even then get you to
- 37:16gain weight even above where you how many
- 37:19people say i lost you know
- 37:22I lost weight and I gained it all
- 37:23back.
- 37:24And then some.
- 37:27And like you said,
- 37:27a lot of protecting you.
- 37:29A lot of it has to do with
- 37:30the fact that their metabolism has
- 37:31changed,
- 37:32especially if these medications are
- 37:33causing them to lose muscle because muscle
- 37:36requires more calories at rest.
- 37:38So if you lose muscle,
- 37:40you don't need as many calories.
- 37:41Yeah.
- 37:41So yeah.
- 37:42Yeah.
- 37:46Well, I think, um,
- 37:50A really good point for you to share
- 37:53here is I'd like for you to,
- 37:55you know,
- 37:56nutrition education in general has,
- 38:02I'm not even sure how to word this
- 38:03question.
- 38:04So nutrition education,
- 38:07depending on the resource,
- 38:10how much does this, you know,
- 38:12how much impact does this have on this
- 38:14issue of people who are struggling and
- 38:16feeling like they're broken and they can't
- 38:18succeed?
- 38:24I think a lot of nutrition education ends
- 38:27up falling into dietary rules.
- 38:34And, you know,
- 38:36kind of that labeling of good foods,
- 38:39bad foods.
- 38:41This food kind of fueling fears, right?
- 38:45Instead of informing choices, right?
- 38:48Fears about you're going to, you know,
- 38:51the worst fear, you're going to be fat.
- 38:53the next fear you're gonna die right if
- 38:56you're if you are fat or if you
- 38:58don't lose the weight um and it's just
- 39:03not true right now i'm not saying you
- 39:08know everybody who is of high weight is
- 39:12you know there's there's no dangers there
- 39:17there are risks associated with high
- 39:19weight but not
- 39:21not to the extent that it is proposed,
- 39:26right?
- 39:26And again, well,
- 39:28that's a whole other- Not everybody has to
- 39:30be a perfect Twiggy model to be healthy.
- 39:34Absolutely not.
- 39:36Yeah.
- 39:37Right.
- 39:38There's a real interesting,
- 39:40kind of because you mentioned Twiggy,
- 39:41and I know we're kind of,
- 39:44this is a little bit off topic,
- 39:46but what's promoted as the ideal shape
- 39:51and body type.
- 39:55Oh, I can't get a good timeframe.
- 39:58Before the late eighteen hundreds,
- 40:01early nineteen hundreds,
- 40:03it was more of a buxom woman,
- 40:05fuller figured.
- 40:06And a course that I took,
- 40:10I found this was so interesting that as
- 40:13I think one of the first things that
- 40:15happened was women wanted to be able to
- 40:17attend college and school and they
- 40:21That, you know,
- 40:22they earn the right to do that.
- 40:24Well,
- 40:24then the body image got more slender to
- 40:27the Gibson girl, right?
- 40:29Cinched in waist.
- 40:32And then women wanted the right to vote.
- 40:35And when they got that,
- 40:36then it was the flappers,
- 40:39like the more and more.
- 40:43You know,
- 40:44and this was the more and more like
- 40:47things women went after,
- 40:49rights women went after,
- 40:50the smaller and smaller the model got.
- 40:54It was super interesting if you watch the
- 40:56timeline.
- 40:57And down to one of the most recent
- 40:59body types was because one of them was
- 41:01like Twiggy and then like heroin chic.
- 41:05I'm like, are we seriously?
- 41:07Are we here?
- 41:08Like, this can't be.
- 41:09Wow.
- 41:12Yeah.
- 41:12Very sad.
- 41:13Very sad.
- 41:14Yeah.
- 41:15So,
- 41:16so what advice would you give if you
- 41:18could give us, cause I know we're,
- 41:20we're almost to the end of our time
- 41:21here,
- 41:21but if you could give us just a
- 41:23little scenario,
- 41:24like when you first start working with
- 41:27someone, you know, what, what,
- 41:30how do you get them?
- 41:32And I know you can't teach it all
- 41:33now cause you've got a whole course on
- 41:34it.
- 41:36But how do you get them to start
- 41:39shifting from,
- 41:41so that they can neurologically reset the
- 41:44signals in their body because that's what
- 41:46they're doing.
- 41:46I mean, this is science.
- 41:48This is not, Oh,
- 41:49I'm just going to have a better mindset
- 41:51and I'm just going to, you know,
- 41:52this isn't all about,
- 41:53I'm going to call what is not as
- 41:55though it is.
- 41:55And, and all of that, I mean,
- 41:58because your brain knows that.
- 42:00Right.
- 42:00Right.
- 42:01So, so you're,
- 42:02you're essentially changing their
- 42:05neurology, their, their signaling and,
- 42:08But it starts with changing kind of it's
- 42:11not just mindset, but it's their identity.
- 42:16I think one of the most important things
- 42:20and usually it comes up in very early
- 42:24on in the coaching relationship.
- 42:30Because, you know,
- 42:31when people enter into coaching with me,
- 42:32there's there's that sense of there's that
- 42:35trust and they're there for support and
- 42:37help and.
- 42:40you know,
- 42:40they share that they want to be tired
- 42:44of fighting themselves.
- 42:45They want to feel good about themselves.
- 42:48And, you know,
- 42:50that is kind of step one is where
- 42:52we start trying to come to a place
- 42:55of accepting, respecting,
- 42:59and caring for and living in the body
- 43:02that you're in now.
- 43:04So, you know, we kind of practice like,
- 43:07and still recognizing because the,
- 43:11the desire for weight loss doesn't
- 43:13disappear.
- 43:14Right.
- 43:15But honoring,
- 43:16even though I may not like how I
- 43:21look,
- 43:21or even though I wish I was five
- 43:24sizes smaller, I'm working on every day.
- 43:29I'm working on taking care of myself
- 43:32today.
- 43:33Hmm.
- 43:34Because you practice the mindset shifts,
- 43:37whichever one we're working on.
- 43:39You have to kind of acknowledge where you
- 43:42are and validate how you feel and what
- 43:45you're thinking.
- 43:47But, but,
- 43:49and it's like after the but is what
- 43:51your brain remembers, right?
- 43:54Okay.
- 43:54Okay.
- 43:55But, you know,
- 43:58I'm learning to recognize myself.
- 44:00when I'm hungry and I'm learning to feed
- 44:02myself when I'm hungry a little bit more
- 44:04every day.
- 44:05Right.
- 44:05So you sort of,
- 44:09you honor where you are now,
- 44:11but step into where you want to go.
- 44:13If that makes sense.
- 44:15Yes.
- 44:15So it's shifts,
- 44:17shifts about body image and then really
- 44:21education around health and weight, um,
- 44:27And again,
- 44:28shifting that like a wide variety of site,
- 44:31you know, I can be healthy.
- 44:33I can be healthy as I can be
- 44:35today in the body that I'm in today.
- 44:40I like that because so many people,
- 44:42if all they see is until they achieve
- 44:44that,
- 44:45that perfect image that they want to see
- 44:47themselves at,
- 44:49they're miserable until that happens.
- 44:52And, and it's,
- 44:54and being miserable doesn't,
- 44:56create a place where your brain wants to
- 44:58go back to.
- 45:00Right.
- 45:00Right.
- 45:01And so people kind of think, Oh,
- 45:03I just, I won't do this.
- 45:05I won't exercise.
- 45:06I won't, you know,
- 45:08make myself different kinds of foods.
- 45:12Yeah.
- 45:12Being miserable is not motivating.
- 45:15No, no.
- 45:16And nor is being ashamed or being,
- 45:21you know,
- 45:22feeling sick to your stomach all day.
- 45:24Like, you know,
- 45:27Yeah.
- 45:28Yeah.
- 45:28Yeah.
- 45:28So that's the piece that I want to
- 45:30help people really get to is not,
- 45:34you know,
- 45:35kind of taking care of themselves out of
- 45:38the excitement for feeling good.
- 45:42Yeah.
- 45:43Yeah.
- 45:43So would you say,
- 45:45and I know I'm kind of putting you
- 45:46on the spot,
- 45:47but would you say that this way you've
- 45:50seen a lot of success with people who
- 45:54getting out of that hating themselves or
- 45:56feeling ashamed or feeling like they're
- 45:58broken and starting to enjoy their life
- 46:03now as they're on the journey instead of
- 46:07waiting.
- 46:08Right.
- 46:09Right.
- 46:10Yes.
- 46:12And that is, to me,
- 46:14I think that is,
- 46:16that is like my biggest,
- 46:18my most important benchmark is to really
- 46:23help people
- 46:25get over that self-loathing,
- 46:28not get over it,
- 46:29but to grow past that and to really
- 46:35recognize and honor themselves.
- 46:38And realizing that when they do,
- 46:44they take better care of themselves,
- 46:46they feel better,
- 46:48and the benchmark isn't their weight,
- 46:50right?
- 46:50They may or may not lose weight.
- 46:54But they will evolve to being their
- 46:59healthiest self, their best self,
- 47:02and being able to live their best life.
- 47:06They'll stop the cycling, losing, gaining,
- 47:08losing, gaining,
- 47:09which is very dangerous medically,
- 47:11health-wise.
- 47:14And their chemical responses are going to
- 47:19be efficient, right?
- 47:21when they eat.
- 47:22So they're going to be a lot happier.
- 47:24I mean, it just seems like,
- 47:26what am I doing happening?
- 47:29Yeah.
- 47:29When you, you know,
- 47:30think when you go somewhere and, you know,
- 47:35whether it's you're somewhere on a trip
- 47:39and someone is taking care of you or,
- 47:41or whether you go home, right.
- 47:45And someone takes care of you and meets
- 47:48your needs and,
- 47:50you know, loves you.
- 47:51How do you, like, that feels good.
- 47:54That's so good for you.
- 47:56And so this is a way of doing
- 48:00that for yourself.
- 48:03I love it.
- 48:04I love it.
- 48:04Yeah.
- 48:05I just completed a,
- 48:06I did a beta program in my academy
- 48:07and,
- 48:08and what I saw with the people who
- 48:12joined it,
- 48:13it was sort of a test pilots program
- 48:17and,
- 48:18It really was who they became and the
- 48:23different mindset about everything
- 48:26because, yeah,
- 48:27they did have all these issues going on
- 48:29and some of them made great gains in
- 48:31those issues,
- 48:32but they had a lot of bumps in
- 48:33the road.
- 48:35And because they were supported and
- 48:37encouraged through those bumps in the
- 48:39road, which is what you do,
- 48:42that's how they end up getting across the
- 48:44finish line of...
- 48:46you know,
- 48:46completing a program and having the tools
- 48:50and the things that they know how to
- 48:52do,
- 48:53which is a lot better than where they
- 48:55were when they started.
- 48:56So,
- 48:57and they learn how to use those tools,
- 49:00like in your beta program or in my
- 49:03coaching program, you know,
- 49:04you learn how to use the information and
- 49:07the tools.
- 49:09And in this case, becoming, as I said,
- 49:11you become more attuned to so many things,
- 49:14right?
- 49:14And you,
- 49:16you learn to not just follow somebody
- 49:19else's rules, which can,
- 49:23and you just get your best results.
- 49:26Yeah, yeah.
- 49:27And I have found,
- 49:28and we'll kind of end with this,
- 49:30but I have found when I talk with
- 49:33someone who's so concerned about doing
- 49:36everything right,
- 49:40they tend to be the highest anxiety
- 49:44people.
- 49:45I mean,
- 49:45they're living in that run from the bear
- 49:47mode.
- 49:47They're living in that sympathetic nervous
- 49:50system mode because they're afraid, oh,
- 49:51if I don't eat the perfect type of
- 49:53vinegar and I don't make sure I've got
- 49:55the exact calories on my plate at every
- 49:57meal and I don't do this and I
- 49:59don't do that and, oh,
- 50:00I got to cut the broccoli and wait
- 50:02fifteen minutes before I can eat it
- 50:03because the latest study says that it's
- 50:05going to change the chemical makeup of the
- 50:07broccoli and I'm going to get more out
- 50:09of it when I eat it.
- 50:09I mean, it's absolute insanity.
- 50:13And unfortunately,
- 50:15what happens is these people are reading
- 50:17everything.
- 50:17They're watching everything.
- 50:19And they're so overwhelmed with all of
- 50:21that information.
- 50:22There's no way you can put it all
- 50:24into practice.
- 50:25And a lot of the times,
- 50:26a lot of that information isn't necessary
- 50:28to put into practice.
- 50:31you know,
- 50:31you can really simplify your life.
- 50:34And so that's basically what you're doing
- 50:37for these people.
- 50:38You're simplifying it for them.
- 50:40And, you know,
- 50:42you mentioned that sympathetic response,
- 50:45you know,
- 50:45people living in that sympathetic
- 50:47response.
- 50:47And there's a, you know,
- 50:48a lot of that
- 50:51over analyzing and thinking about food and
- 50:55what's what it is and what you're but
- 50:57that when you're in that sympathetic
- 50:59response, you can be eating the best,
- 51:03like neutral, not best,
- 51:05the most nutrient dense,
- 51:07food full of antioxidants and vitamins and
- 51:12minerals and
- 51:15but your absorption is going to be
- 51:18affected.
- 51:19And that cortisol response is going to
- 51:23still exert negative influences on your
- 51:25health, right?
- 51:26And so that sense of peace and calm
- 51:33is very necessary for optimal health and
- 51:37for optimal weight and all of it.
- 51:40Yeah.
- 51:40And being stressed, of course,
- 51:41cortisol deposits fat around the trunk.
- 51:44Fat.
- 51:46So talking about the opposite of what
- 51:47you're looking for.
- 51:48Exactly opposite of what you're trying to
- 51:51do.
- 51:51You know,
- 51:52it affects your short-term memory because
- 51:53it impacts your hippocampus.
- 51:54I mean, it just does so many,
- 51:56it does disrupt the digestive process
- 51:58because you're not going to,
- 52:00you're not going to digest when you're
- 52:01running from a bear.
- 52:02So you're not going to absorb.
- 52:03You're right.
- 52:04Yeah.
- 52:05So it's,
- 52:07I love what you do because you're,
- 52:11you're empowering people to, to,
- 52:15be in this space that teaches them how
- 52:22to live a happy life.
- 52:26I mean,
- 52:27essentially that's what you're doing.
- 52:28You're restoring the joy in people's
- 52:30lives.
- 52:31And that's, that's a beautiful thing.
- 52:34So.
- 52:35Yeah.
- 52:36Thank you.
- 52:38I think of it as, you know,
- 52:39it's about attuned eating,
- 52:42but it really is attuned living.
- 52:46Yeah.
- 52:46Yeah.
- 52:47As you often say, living your best life.
- 52:50Yes.
- 52:51Yeah.
- 52:51Yes.
- 52:51All right.
- 52:53Well, thank you so much for being here.
- 52:56And I know we're going to have information
- 52:58where people can, you know,
- 52:59look at your programs and access your
- 53:02website and that kind of thing.
- 53:04And I would strongly encourage people to
- 53:06even just connect with you for a brief
- 53:07conversation,
- 53:09get their questions answered and decide if
- 53:11this is for them.
- 53:12Yeah.
- 53:14I encourage anybody sign up for the
- 53:16newsletter, book a connection call.
- 53:18I do have a new group starting on
- 53:21March.
- 53:21Okay.
- 53:23Thursday evening.
- 53:24So, you know,
- 53:28book a connection call if you're like,
- 53:29I don't know.
- 53:32I need to learn more.
- 53:35And if you're on the newsletter list,
- 53:36you'll get information about that as well.
- 53:40And it's an excellent newsletter.
- 53:41I mean, it's not a, you know,
- 53:44It's, it's,
- 53:45it's packed with good information,
- 53:48but it doesn't take you all weekend to
- 53:49read it.
- 53:50So people can take, you know,
- 53:51and learn things.
- 53:52And yeah.
- 53:54Thank you so much.
- 53:56Thank you.
- 53:56It was so nice to chat with you
- 53:58and catch up a little bit.
- 54:01We're going to have to connect and have
- 54:03a cup of tea together.
- 54:04Yes.
- 54:05Yes.
- 54:06Thank you everybody for listening and have
- 54:09a great day.
- 54:10Bye guys.
