- 0:00A Team Tolerator. It is the last Thursday of the month, and you
- 0:04know what that means. That means that you are getting an inside look at
- 0:08all of the bonus content we put up in April on our Patreon. This
- 0:14month, the teaser will be from our misogyny motdown episode Misogynistic Foolery. In
- 0:21the episode, I went over some foolish ways women made it into the news.
- 0:26I talked about my Eclipse ritual, and then Annie See and I did
- 0:31you all a solid by providing you examples of what goes into our anti gaslighting
- 0:39kit so we can't be fooled any longer by the likes of manipulation and gaslighting.
- 0:47This month on Patreon, our Patreon subscribers are focusing on mothers because May
- 0:54is for mothers, so you'll get some inside look into my relationship with my
- 1:00own mother and other fantastic mothers in my life. And then Elizabeth Kyle and
- 1:07Darcy Darko and I are going to be discussing the mother of all mothers,
- 1:11Taylor Swift. I will be playing a special game with Elizabeth and Darcy where
- 1:19they have to do a little soul searching on Taylor and her most famous lyrics.
- 1:26Here's a link in the show notes on how you can join us on
- 1:32Patreon. Every Tier is running a free seven day trial. There is also

- 1:46bonus content that goes along with our episodes. So please at least go and
- 1:51follow our free content. All right, here's your trailer and I will see
- 1:57you next time. Hey, Team Tolerator, and welcome to the Misogyny Meltdown.
- 2:25This yere is the only show you'll find putting a comedic twist on you
- 2:31know, all the ways misogyny tries to fool us into believing men have been
- 2:37doing a stand up job running things. It wouldn't be April without beginning the
- 2:42month with pranks and jokes. And while I decided a while back that this
- 2:46month's episode will be a festival of fools, I can't help but notice that
- 2:52people weren't so quick this month to prank one another on April Fool's Day.
- 2:58Hmm. There must be something about the climate dying while my taxes fund a
- 3:04war, while I'm also subjected to the redemption arc of Tom Sandoval from Bander
- 3:10Pump rules, that just really knocks the wind out of making jokes about praise
- 3:16anatomy being renewed until twenty fifty. But just because we were all too depressed
- 3:23to fake a pregnancy announcement on Facebook doesn't mean the foolish things haven't happened to
- 3:29women. In celebration of my determination to never be fooled by a man again,
- 3:35here are some of the dumbest things I've seen reported about women recently.
- 3:40I'm convinced I can't have nice things. Near moments after Shakira was quoted saying
- 3:47life was easier without a husband, she quickly dashed my hopes that she was
- 3:53made for Team Tolerator by then being quoted saying her sons were a mad escalated
- 4:00by the Barbie movie. Listen, if wearing a fur jacket while singing a
- 4:08power ballad with your bros about your feelings of inadequacy isn't masculinity, I don't
- 4:15want it. Like everything else in our patriarchal society, climate change also disproportionately
- 4:23affects women, and no one seems to want to do anything about it.
- 4:29The UN has released that out of one hundred and nineteen countries, only thirty
- 4:33eight have taken into account contraception and reproductive and sexual health care in their climate
- 4:41crisis relief plan. Hmmm, well, not including those things ignores the fact
- 4:48that rising temperatures can cause pregnancy risks, and also discounts the rising numbers in
- 4:55women's assault during natural disasters. Also, if it keeps getting hotter, they'll
- 5:01make the bikini smaller, and yet men who look like feet will have louder
- 5:09opinions about my body. Okay, all right, I'm officially sick of looking
- 5:17at the news, so let's talk about something way more valid astrology. This
- 5:25month, we all lost our collective shits as the US experienced a total solar
- 5:30eclipse in fifteen states. We're in its path of totality. My ritual for
- 5:38the eclipse included me putting to rest some things that were holding me back so
- 5:44I could shed light on the way forward. Here are some things I thought
- 5:48we could all put to rest. I think we can put to rest using
- 5:53women as our scapegoat for our big whoopsies and instead shed light on the need
- 6:00to respect someone's privacy during their health crisis. And let's go ahead and put
- 6:09to rest fat shaming women for having opinions and instead shed light on women being
- 6:15more than the objects that make your dick hard. While we're at it,
- 6:20I'm sick of hearing about ozempic, so let's put that to bed while we
- 6:28focus on whether or not our food is actually healthy. I swear it tastes
- 6:33like AI rights. Now we have the lovely anti seed here to help you
- 6:40and I build our personalized anti gaslight kits. They can't fool us about our
- 6:45own reality if we're ready for them. Hey, Annie, thanks for being
- 6:48willing to melt down with me, Always always on the verge of the meltdown,
- 6:53happy to do it on camera in your presence. That's what friends are
- 6:59for. April is the month of fools. Kind of no one had a
- 7:05sense of humor this month. Yet here we are, only eleven days into
- 7:11the month and you're already like, not a one person has been funny,
- 7:15Not one person has been funny. Come at me. But we're here to
- 7:24talk about the ever present tool in men and the patriarchy making a fool out
- 7:30of us, and that is gaslighting. Gaslighting? What is your definition of
- 7:35gaslighting? So I feel like I should preface this with like the automatic disclaimer
- 7:43of the fact that, like, yes, we all know that this term
- 7:45has been wildly overused in recent years and that a lot of people are using
- 7:50it pretty not accurately. But from my understanding, gaslighting is basically where someone
- 8:03I don't know if it has to be intentional or if it can be sort
- 8:05of subconscious on their part, but they are leading you to question your own
- 8:09sanity in order to make whatever they are doing seem acceptable when it's not.
- 8:13And so it is definitely one of the favored tools of the patriarchy because,
- 8:18as probably anyone who's paying any attention has noticed, everything a woman does is
- 8:24labeled as crazy. Any thought of thing you have is almost immediately labeled by
- 8:28someone as crazy and hot take lots of the things we think can feel are
- 8:35not crazy. So it's my spark notes for us. You heard it here
- 8:39first. Not everything women do is in fact crazy. I will say it's
- 8:46important that not everything, because some of the things, certainly for myself,
- 8:52that I've thought and done. I mean, I know, we're not supposed
- 8:54to really use the term crazy anymore. We're supposed to be more thoughtful about
- 8:58diagnoses and mental health and all of that. But sometimes I do be crazy,
- 9:01but not as well these men want me to think sometimes i'd be wild
- 9:05and in these streets, but yeah, mine was basically the same. It's
- 9:09like, it's when you're standing there in front of someone and you were speaking
- 9:15your reality. You're like, remember when this happened, and they're like,
- 9:18that's not what happened at all, and they're like and then you're like,
- 9:22I don't remember the last time you were Yoda, And then they go,
- 9:26no, believe me, it didn't happen, and everything's fine, and you're
- 9:31perfectly safe, and your entire body is screaming. I don't feel safe,
- 9:35but I don't know why. Yeah, it's such an insidious thing because even
- 9:43if you have a lot of awareness of gaslighting as a concept and as a
- 9:46tool of manipulation, it can still absolutely get you. Like, this is
- 9:50not a new concept to me, And I look back at my previous relationship
- 9:52and I'm like, oh, so there was a lot of it, and
- 9:56there was a lot of it that was happening that I didn't notice. Hm.
- 10:01It gets ya, It gets yeah, because it's a lot easier to
- 10:05believe, at least for me, that I'm being unreasonable and crazy versus somebody
- 10:11else. I don't know why, but I'm like ready to believe that I'm
- 10:13wrong a lot of the time. Well, and we've talked about this before,
- 10:16because you and I talk about Vanderpump Rules. Is that like, for
- 10:20whatever reason, my sweet do iyed self just wants to go well, surely
- 10:26they're not that bad, and of course they have every good intention in their
- 10:33heart to treat me. Okay. Yeah, I think it's easy when you're
- 10:39looking at like an outside, completely removed situation like vander Pump Rules, to
- 10:45be like, oh, what's happening is definitely wrong and what they're saying makes
- 10:48no sense. But at least in my experience, I'm pretty picky about who
- 10:52I let into my inner circle, who I give the opportunity to guess Lney,
- 10:58and generally, if I've let some in, I'm like, it's because
- 11:01they're good. I've already decided that, and people are a binary of either
- 11:05good or bad, of course, and then it's shocking to me every time
- 11:11that that's not quite how that works. Well, And that will bring me
- 11:13to my next point, which is that I do self gaslight where I'm like,
- 11:16well, surely, if this person has walked into my home, they
- 11:22are a liberal who loves gay people would never ever support cops. Natalie,
- 11:31are you out here dating some maga freaks? Is that what's happening? Are
- 11:35you trying to tell me that you d you date the right? Remember when
- 11:39I did that fake version of Love is Flight? I know you have a
- 11:43dark past on that front. As a side note, my pets seem to
- 11:46have both just decided that now is time for a meal. It is.
- 11:50It is not. But if there's a bunch of weird, chaotic noises in
- 11:52the background, I apologize they're trying to gaslight you. They're like, do
- 11:56you see us? We're hungry. Yeah, They're like, it's definitely time.
- 12:01This is the time that you always definitely feed us, for sure,
- 12:03even though you did two hours ago. So, lady lady who does a
- 12:07till time, correctly, it is our feeding time. But yeah, I
- 12:13do have a dark past, mostly because I've grown up in Indiana and I'm
- 12:20so sorry and now live in Ohio and I did fake Love is Blind because
- 12:24I saw a post on Instagram on Internet. I saw on Internet, I
- 12:31saw no maga for sure, and I said, well, Sureley, if
- 12:37he's heard that I'm a witchy woman who just loves to dress like a bisexual
- 12:45Stevie Nicks. Like, I just sorry, like a bisexual Stevie Nicks.
- 12:50Are we assuming the Stevie Nicks is Stevie Nicks. She denies so much.
- 12:54She's like, I don't understand why people think that I'm their witchy queen.
- 12:58And I was like, because I'm convinced you controlled the moon, Stevie,
- 13:03Like I basically, in my mind have merged actual Stevie Nicks with the Stevie
- 13:09Nicks inspired which from American horror story. Con So, in my brain,
- 13:13that's just one person, and that AHAs an account of her personal history.
- 13:18You can't, I as hell, you cannot tell me that Stevie Nicks did
- 13:22not curse that man whose name I often forget, by singing silver springs,
- 13:28making dead eye contact with them as she threatened him with song and cursed him.
- 13:33But let's get to our kids. We're here as Gasola experts to help
- 13:43you, to help you. Have tools in a toolbox that maybe therapists would
- 13:48sign off of, maybe not, but these are our tools to be like,
- 13:54hey, that's gaslighting and I'm not into it, so I'll go first,
- 14:00because I never want you to go first. That feels like pressure.
- 14:05Okay, my number one tool in my toolbox against gaslighting is that you have
- 14:09to have at least one friend who doesn't date men, who has a clear
- 14:15head and is not digmatized. Yep, that's on my list for sure too,
- 14:20because because they won't be the person to look you in the eyes and
- 14:24go ooh, sweetie, I think he's trying his best. I will say,
- 14:30as a side note to this, to all of the gays and lover
- 14:33of days and everybody who does not fall into the digmatization zone, you can
- 14:39still super get gas lit by end who is not male identifying one hundred thousand
- 14:43percent. Just want to flag that, yeah, sis, headman are often
- 14:50the annie's more socially conscious than me. I'm just always like, we don't
- 14:54like men here, here, there, everywhere. Yeah, they're a pretty
- 15:00big bummer, But that doesn't mean that everybody else isn't also sometimes a pretty
- 15:05big bummer. That's right. So it's not that I'm saying not all men.
- 15:07It's that I'm saying, yes, all men and some others as well,
- 15:11some other people. Yes, that's true. True equality is that everyone
- 15:16can be toxic at the drop of a hat. It's true, but I
- 15:22don't know if this happens to you, but I will run into older women
- 15:24in my life and I'll be like, this man was toxic. He literally
- 15:28sat there, he lied to my face. He told me that these were
- 15:31the terms and conditions of the day, date, event, dinner I agreed
- 15:39upon. And when I showed up, fifty things that I did not expect,
- 15:43and thirty two people that I did not want to talk to were there.
- 15:46And when I said, hey, I remember that this is what was
- 15:52going on, I wasn't told that's not what I said, or you must
- 15:56have misheard me, or you must have has understood what I was talking about.
- 16:02You're so silly and so dumb, little girl. And then I go,
- 16:04that's toxic, And then older women in my life will be like,
- 16:08toxic is a really tough word. Family, that's really harsh. What you're
- 16:12thinking of is men are just big, big goofs who are bad at calendar
