- 0:44Speaker 2: She's on the Money. She's on the Money.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money, the podcast
- 1:10Speaker 3: that usually brings you deep dives, het takes Money, diaries,
- 1:14Speaker 3: and the occasional chaotic rant. But today, my friend, it
- 1:18Speaker 3: is just you and me and we're doing something a
- 1:20Speaker 3: little bit different because it's the end of the year
- 1:24Speaker 3: and if you're anything like me, this time feels big, emotional,
- 1:29Speaker 3: maybe a little bit sparkly, a little bit exhausting, and
- 1:32Speaker 3: somehow like you're meant to have your life completely sorted
- 1:35Speaker 3: by December thirty one, and honestly, really, honestly, most of
- 1:39Speaker 3: us do not. So today, my friend, is not a
- 1:42Speaker 3: lesson or a recap or a list of goals that
- 1:45Speaker 3: you should think about setting. It's a bit of a
- 1:48Speaker 3: moment to exhale together, a moment to kind of slow
- 1:51Speaker 3: the pace, a moment to close a chapter very softly,
- 1:55Speaker 3: a moment to remind you that this year it was
- 1:57Speaker 3: never wasted, even if it didn't look like the one
- 1:59Speaker 3: that you planned on the first of January. Because here's
- 2:02Speaker 3: the thing, and I say that a lot. Here's the thing,
- 2:04Speaker 3: my friend, nobody's year goes to plan. Ever, nobody's spreadsheet
- 2:10Speaker 3: actually survives all twelve months perfectly, And if yours does,
- 2:13Speaker 3: please call me and let me know how and why.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Nobody ends December feeling like, my goodness, I nailed every
- 2:19Speaker 3: single financial goal, every single relationship, every career milestone, every
- 2:23Speaker 3: goal that I set myself. I have slayed this year.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Even when you see someone doing their mood board recap
- 2:29Speaker 3: and they make it look really pretty on Instagram. What
- 2:32Speaker 3: matters is that you made it through this year. Because
- 2:35Speaker 3: this year was hard, and I wanted to take a
- 2:37Speaker 3: moment and literally an entire podcast. I suppose to reflect
- 2:41Speaker 3: on that with you, because this year, you survived things
- 2:45Speaker 3: that never made it into your camera role, things that
- 2:48Speaker 3: were really heavy, things that you didn't post on social
- 2:51Speaker 3: media about, things that you carried really quietly because that's
- 2:54Speaker 3: who you are, and you just didn't want to share,
- 2:57Speaker 3: things that cost you emotional bandwidth that you didn't even
- 3:00Speaker 3: know that you were spending at the time. And now
- 3:02Speaker 3: it feels like it's come back to bite you. And
- 3:05Speaker 3: I need you to hear me when I say all
- 3:06Speaker 3: of that counts, and do you know what? So do
- 3:10Speaker 3: all the little things the morning that you got up
- 3:13Speaker 3: when you really didn't want to and meet either Queen,
- 3:16Speaker 3: the bills you paid even though you were so stressed
- 3:18Speaker 3: about money, all of those nights that you stayed up
- 3:21Speaker 3: worrying about somebody that you love or something that you're
- 3:24Speaker 3: wildly passionate about, the work that you did that nobody
- 3:27Speaker 3: ever said thank you for those appointments that you made,
- 3:31Speaker 3: or those appointments that you kept rescheduling or the appointments
- 3:34Speaker 3: that you actually finally went to, the budgeting attempts that
- 3:37Speaker 3: you didn't stick with, But I feel like it taught
- 3:40Speaker 3: you something. Anyway, days that you chose rest when you
- 3:44Speaker 3: were scared it might make you look and feel really lazy.
- 3:48Speaker 3: I'm really proud of you for the boundaries that you set,
- 3:50Speaker 3: or the boundaries that you tried to set, even if
- 3:53Speaker 3: your voice shook, and the courage it took you to
- 3:57Speaker 3: genuinely just keep going, my friend. Maybe you didn't save
- 4:01Speaker 3: as much as you'd hoped this year. Maybe you dipped
- 4:04Speaker 3: into an emergency fund and that makes you feel not
- 4:07Speaker 3: so good. Maybe you had a setback that knocks your confidence,
- 4:10Speaker 3: and maybe maybe you felt like you were just starting
- 4:13Speaker 3: again again. That doesn't actually make you behind, though. Small
- 4:18Speaker 3: steps in the right direction are still steps, and that
- 4:20Speaker 3: makes you human, and honestly, it makes you so flipping brave.
- 4:25Speaker 3: I'm seeing so many people, especially on social media at
- 4:28Speaker 3: the moment, talking about this year like it was a checklist,
- 4:31Speaker 3: like it should be measured in milestones and achievements. But
- 4:35Speaker 3: life is not, and never will be checklists. Life happens
- 4:40Speaker 3: in the middle bits, the moments where nothing looked glamorous,
- 4:43Speaker 3: but you were still quietly building resilience. You were learning,
- 4:46Speaker 3: you were healing, then you were on learning, and you
- 4:48Speaker 3: were also adapting. And you know what, you didn't film
- 4:51Speaker 3: any of that. None of that shows up in a
- 4:53Speaker 3: highlights reel. But it shapes your entire life. It shapes
- 4:56Speaker 3: who you are, who you're becoming, It shapes who I'm becoming.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Imagine how different you'd feel if, instead of judging yourself
- 5:04Speaker 3: on what you didn't achieve this year, you acknowledged that
- 5:07Speaker 3: you carried everything, You held everything together, you made it
- 5:11Speaker 3: at work. The weight of the world on your shoulders
- 5:14Speaker 3: was not too heavy. Imagine if you gave yourself the
- 5:18Speaker 3: same compassion that you would give your best friend. Because
- 5:22Speaker 3: I promise you, she would never ever ever talk to
- 5:25Speaker 3: you the way that you talk to yourself in your head.
- 5:28Speaker 3: She wouldn't say your year was wasted. She wouldn't literally
- 5:31Speaker 3: never even think about telling you that you were behind.
- 5:34Speaker 3: She doesn't think you are. She wouldn't say that you
- 5:36Speaker 3: should have done more. You know what she'd say, She'd
- 5:39Speaker 3: say exactly what I would say. She'd say, I saw
- 5:42Speaker 3: how hard this year was for you, and you still
- 5:45Speaker 3: showed up. You legend, And that's exactly what I'm saying
- 5:49Speaker 3: to you right now. This year was not about wins
- 5:51Speaker 3: and losses. It was about the invisible work that you
- 5:55Speaker 3: did just to keep going, the boundaries that you set,
- 5:58Speaker 3: the boundaries that you really try hard to keep, the
- 6:01Speaker 3: habits that you tried, the moments that you chose rest
- 6:04Speaker 3: over burnout, the time that you said no even though
- 6:07Speaker 3: you were very scared you were terrified, or that you
- 6:10Speaker 3: felt like you were disappointing someone, and the relationships you protected,
- 6:15Speaker 3: maybe even the relationships you walked away from. The clarity
- 6:18Speaker 3: that you gained, the softness that you rediscovered, the parts
- 6:21Speaker 3: of yourself that you have ultimately outgrown in the last
- 6:24Speaker 3: twelve months, the parts of yourself that you feel like
- 6:28Speaker 3: you might have come home to now. I want you
- 6:30Speaker 3: to try something with me, bear with me, please, and
- 6:32Speaker 3: maybe entertain me on this one. I want you to
- 6:35Speaker 3: think of just one thing from this year that you
- 6:37Speaker 3: are personally proud of. Maybe it's not an obvious thing,
- 6:41Speaker 3: not maybe something that goes on a CV, but like
- 6:43Speaker 3: a quiet thing. Maybe it's the moment where you showed
- 6:46Speaker 3: yourself strength or softness or honesty or maybe even courage,
- 6:50Speaker 3: even if nobody else noticed, have you got it? I
- 6:53Speaker 3: want you to hold onto it. Maybe you pause the
- 6:55Speaker 3: podcast and have a little bit of a think about it,
- 6:58Speaker 3: because that thing is is proof that growth doesn't always
- 7:02Speaker 3: look like a milestone. Sometimes it's just choosing yourself in
- 7:05Speaker 3: a tiny moment that maybe nobody else noticed, but you did,
- 7:09Speaker 3: and that's what contributed to your growth. I really hope
- 7:12Speaker 3: you can find something that you can grasp onto that's
- 7:15Speaker 3: going to give you enough space to let that moment
- 7:18Speaker 3: rise to the surface, because those quiet winds matter, honestly,
- 7:22Speaker 3: so much more than you realize. They're the things that
- 7:25Speaker 3: build your confidence really slowly, not in the loud, instagrammable ways,
- 7:29Speaker 3: but in the quiet rewiring of how you personally treat yourself.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Something else I want you to hear before this year
- 7:36Speaker 3: ends is when January rolls around, you don't need to
- 7:40Speaker 3: reinvent yourself. You do not need a color coded plan
- 7:44Speaker 3: twenty twenty six. You don't need to become a brand
- 7:47Speaker 3: new person at midnight. You don't suddenly become worthy because
- 7:50Speaker 3: of calendar resets. You are worthy, You were always worthy.
- 7:55Speaker 3: You get to grow at the pace that feels kind.
- 7:57Speaker 3: You get to choose a soft little rece If you
- 8:00Speaker 3: want to reset at all, you get to take one tiny,
- 8:03Speaker 3: intentional step instead of trying to change your whole life
- 8:06Speaker 3: in one goal. That's silly. Maybe for you, next year
- 8:10Speaker 3: isn't about major overhaul. Maybe it won't be dramatic or
- 8:13Speaker 3: esthetic or goal heavy. Maybe next year is about steadiness.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Maybe it's about consistency or rebuilding your confidence slowly, or
- 8:23Speaker 3: maybe finding your joy again, because that's what it's going
- 8:26Speaker 3: to be for me. Future you doesn't need you to
- 8:29Speaker 3: be perfect next year. She doesn't need you to hustle
- 8:32Speaker 3: yourself into exhaustion, I promise. She doesn't need you to
- 8:35Speaker 3: have absolutely everything sortered. You know what she needs. She
- 8:39Speaker 3: just needs you to keep showing up, to keep caring,
- 8:43Speaker 3: to keep trying in whatever capacity you have. And you've
- 8:47Speaker 3: already done that. You've already proven that you can do
- 8:50Speaker 3: that because you made it through this year, every single
- 8:53Speaker 3: little messy bit, every surprise cost, every unexpected life tea tour,
- 8:58Speaker 3: every I'm just really doing my best or I'm trying
- 9:01Speaker 3: to do my mess moment. And before we wrap up
- 9:04Speaker 3: as well, I just I really want to say thank you,
- 9:07Speaker 3: thank you for being here, thank you for trusting me
- 9:09Speaker 3: with your money stories, your fears, your dreams, your winds,
- 9:13Speaker 3: your unhinged Instagram messages. I love them. Thank you for
- 9:17Speaker 3: listening on your commute or your walk, or you hide
- 9:19Speaker 3: from the kids in the pantry while you're eating the
- 9:21Speaker 3: snacks you told them you didn't have. Thank you for
- 9:24Speaker 3: letting this community be part of your life. This community
- 9:29Speaker 3: is the heart of literally everything I do. And I'm
- 9:31Speaker 3: just I'm so incredibly grateful for you. And just so
- 9:35Speaker 3: you know, I'm not going anywhere in January. We are here,
- 9:38Speaker 3: we are with you. We're not hitting pause, we're not
- 9:41Speaker 3: having a podcast break, We're not disappearing because we believe
- 9:45Speaker 3: in you as you are. You are learning, you are growing, healing,
- 9:48Speaker 3: trying rebuilding, becoming more confident with every conversation and every
- 9:53Speaker 3: small decision. Everything that my team and I create next
- 9:57Speaker 3: month and every month after is centered around you feeling confident,
- 10:01Speaker 3: You're feeling supported, and you being empowered with your money. But,
- 10:04Speaker 3: my friend, it's not in a pressure filled way, but marena, grounded,
- 10:07Speaker 3: real life. I've got your back, my friend away. So
- 10:11Speaker 3: as we step into a new year, here's what I
- 10:14Speaker 3: really want you to carry with you. You're not behind
- 10:17Speaker 3: you're not late. You're not starting from nothing. You're starting
- 10:21Speaker 3: from here. You're starting from experience, from everything. This year
- 10:25Speaker 3: taught you every single thing you survived, every single thing
- 10:28Speaker 3: you navigated, everything you learned about who you are and
- 10:32Speaker 3: what you value. And I am so unbelievably proud of you.
