- 0:58Speaker 2: Hello and welcome to The Money the Podcast Millennials who

- 1:05Speaker 2: Money Diary episodes where I get the absolute privilege of
- 1:09Speaker 2: sitting down with oneever beautiful community members and learning all
- 1:13Speaker 2: about their journey. Let's jump straight into it, because this
- 1:16Speaker 2: week I got a message and it sounded just like this. Hi, Victoria.
- 1:21Speaker 2: It has been a huge journey for me from meeting
- 1:23Speaker 2: the love of my life and following him to Australia
- 1:26Speaker 2: and leaving behind my dream job and my life only
- 1:31Speaker 2: to find out that that relationship was toxic. Fortunately, I'm
- 1:35Speaker 2: now reclaiming my self worth and I'm back on track.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I'm sure many people in the community will relate to
- 1:41Speaker 2: this story. Oh my gosh, they totally will. I'm so
- 1:44Speaker 2: excited to have you on the show money Drest.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Welcome, all welcome, thank you.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, I want to know so much about you. First,
- 1:53Speaker 2: cab off the rank as always. What money grade would
- 1:56Speaker 2: you give yourself if I asked you to give your
- 1:58Speaker 2: money grades a rating between A through to F.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I'd actually give myself an AUS.
- 2:05Speaker 2: No, Okay, I love this. You really are claiming yourself
- 2:09Speaker 2: worth back.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Yes, I am a queen.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Alright, let's jump into my favorite question of all time,
- 2:15Speaker 2: money diarist. Can you please share some more information with
- 2:18Speaker 2: me about your money story? Yeah?
- 2:21Speaker 4: Absolutely so. I moved to Australia in twenty seventeen and
- 2:26Speaker 4: at the time I was the event and tour manager
- 2:28Speaker 4: for a major global band.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, and you told me before, and like
- 2:31Speaker 2: it is really really major so gold.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it was good. I was living the dream. I
- 2:37Speaker 4: was having these amazing life experiences. I was making decent money,
- 2:42Speaker 4: but it was one of those jobs where I was like,
- 2:45Speaker 4: I'm happy making this amount of money because of the
- 2:47Speaker 4: life experiences I'm getting. And then, as you introed, I
- 2:51Speaker 4: met a Nazie man while we were both traveling and
- 2:55Speaker 4: I ended up moving to Australia in twenty seventeen. So
- 2:58Speaker 4: money wise, I continued doing that same job for about
- 3:03Speaker 4: three years actually after I moved here.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, but.
- 3:06Speaker 4: The money started getting smaller and smaller because what I
- 3:08Speaker 4: could do from Australia was a lot less. Yeah, okay,
- 3:12Speaker 4: so I wasn't making too much. I was making the
- 3:14Speaker 4: bare minimum and everything was actually fine. There was nothing
- 3:18Speaker 4: wrong with that. It was actually really okay. And then
- 3:20Speaker 4: I was working through my company and Canada at the time,
- 3:22Speaker 4: and then I got my Australian visa, which is really
- 3:26Speaker 4: when I started my business here in Australia. And then
- 3:28Speaker 4: I started making more and more and more money now
- 3:31Speaker 4: that I could pick up Australian clients. So yeah, I
- 3:33Speaker 4: went from okay money to almost minimal money to where
- 3:37Speaker 4: I am now, where I'm making good money.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yeah, how good? Yeah, what's the butt? I know there's
- 3:44Speaker 2: a butt.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Well there's not a butt really, it was more just
- 3:49Speaker 4: sort of the journey of what was happening during that
- 3:52Speaker 4: money thing because my relationship, which I loved and adored,
- 3:57Speaker 4: I didn't see it for quite some time how money
- 3:59Speaker 4: was impacting that. So I was in a relationship where
- 4:04Speaker 4: when I was making little to no money, everything was
- 4:07Speaker 4: actually great. And it was when I started making my
- 4:09Speaker 4: own money and making a lot of money that the
- 4:11Speaker 4: problem started presenting themselves.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Oh wow, and yeah, how did they kind of manifest?
- 4:17Speaker 2: You know, you see this happen sadly often where it
- 4:20Speaker 2: actually is a power dynamic thing where you know, the
- 4:23Speaker 2: male in the relationship goes but I'm the bread winner,
- 4:26Speaker 2: and you know, they don't realize maybe they're doing it,
- 4:29Speaker 2: but like they just like to be the man of
- 4:31Speaker 2: the house, right, They make a big dollars and then
- 4:33Speaker 2: when their wife starts bringing in a bit more, they're like, oh,
- 4:37Speaker 2: I don't really like this. What did that look like
- 4:39Speaker 2: for you?
- 4:40Speaker 4: Yeah? And I will say I don't think it was
- 4:42Speaker 4: intentional at all, Like he, to be fair, did not
- 4:45Speaker 4: have a malicious bone in his body, which makes it
- 4:48Speaker 4: even harder to actually see it for what it is
- 4:50Speaker 4: when it's so casual. The first time it really presented
- 4:53Speaker 4: itself that took me time to realize what it was
- 4:56Speaker 4: was he did as you advocate for all the time,
- 4:59Speaker 4: ask for a fine ancial arrangement, which I was happy to sign. Yeah,
- 5:02Speaker 4: So to sign an agreement, I was very responsible, very
- 5:05Speaker 4: above board. We never ended up going through and doing one, Yeah,
- 5:09Speaker 4: and I never quite understood why. And I thought, oh,
- 5:11Speaker 4: maybe he just wasn't worried about it, which was silly
- 5:14Speaker 4: of me to think.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's always the way, right, Yeah, when you're in love,
- 5:18Speaker 2: you're like, I trust this person one thousand percent.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Because we both got our own lawyers, because you have
- 5:24Speaker 4: to get your own advice, and they want to make
- 5:26Speaker 4: sure you're not coerced into signing it, and they run
- 5:29Speaker 4: through all the scenarios with you that could potentially make
- 5:32Speaker 4: it an a one boid.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:34Speaker 4: What I've realized in hindsight was he presented this to
- 5:38Speaker 4: me saying, you know, I want to get one within
- 5:41Speaker 4: one hour of us submitting for my partner visa.
- 5:45Speaker 1: What.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Yeah, So he's like, all right, obviously, you know I'm serious,
- 5:49Speaker 4: Like we just submitted for this big visa. And then
- 5:51Speaker 4: he's like, now that we've done this, I want a
- 5:54Speaker 4: financial agreement, okay, which to me I'm like, fine, I
- 5:58Speaker 4: don't care about.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Doing that already, maybe it makes sense, like yeah, yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 2: all right, I can see where you're coming from with
- 6:04Speaker 2: just being like yeah whatever.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Yeah, but in the eyes of the law, yeah, talking
- 6:09Speaker 4: about coercion, that would forever present an argument that me
- 6:15Speaker 4: not signing the agreement would have affected my visa and
- 6:19Speaker 4: my ability to stay in the country.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, it would have too. Did you think
- 6:23Speaker 2: about that at the time or were you just like, no, no, no, babe,
- 6:25Speaker 2: that's fine, let's do like this financial thing because like
- 6:28Speaker 2: we're on a roll.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Yeah. No, I didn't think of it at all, And
- 6:31Speaker 4: I would have never felt coursed.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I would never.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Sign something I'm not comfortable with. And of course, but
- 6:36Speaker 4: the argument was there as a result of how that
- 6:39Speaker 4: played out forever.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Right, yeah, oh my gosh.
- 6:43Speaker 4: And it took me a long time to realize that's
- 6:45Speaker 4: what happened, and that's why he kind of dropped it.
- 6:47Speaker 4: But what happened after that was there was no point
- 6:50Speaker 4: where he ever felt comfortable with a financial arrangement. So
- 6:55Speaker 4: as I started becoming more successful and I was thinking
- 6:58Speaker 4: about buying a house and I'm thinking about to do
- 7:00Speaker 4: these things and I'm thinking about wanting to do them
- 7:02Speaker 4: with him, of.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Course, because you're in a marriage and you're like, we
- 7:05Speaker 2: are in love, well, partnership, yeah, but like you were serious. Yeah,
- 7:09Speaker 2: And I guess I use marriage flippantly because you know,
- 7:13Speaker 2: to me, it doesn't matter whether you are you or not.
- 7:14Speaker 2: But like, clearly you moved across the world for him,
- 7:17Speaker 2: so you weren't just like casually dating on the side.
- 7:19Speaker 4: You know exactly. But what happened from that moment on?
- 7:25Speaker 4: I was always a financial liability before I was a partner. Yeah, okay,
- 7:30Speaker 4: and that started to grow and grow as I became
- 7:32Speaker 4: more successful. No, yeah, and it doesn't feel good.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I can imagine. And then what happened then? Were you
- 7:41Speaker 2: like I just can't deal with this? Was just like,
- 7:43Speaker 2: you know, a cause of like lots of arguments in
- 7:46Speaker 2: your relationship? Or was this like an underlying thing? How
- 7:48Speaker 2: did it? I guess manifest day to day?
- 7:51Speaker 4: Yeah, very underlying. So for quite some time it was good.
- 7:55Speaker 4: I was big into you know, wanting to carry my
- 7:58Speaker 4: own weight and keeping things fifty fifty.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Like a queen.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Yes. And then one thing now that I would advocate
- 8:04Speaker 4: for anyone because when I was making less and we
- 8:08Speaker 4: moved into a new place. We talked about the finances.
- 8:10Speaker 4: We agreed that he would pay three weeks of the
- 8:13Speaker 4: rent out of every four I'd pay one week, and
- 8:15Speaker 4: then I'd pay the utilities.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Okay, and we.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Thought that's probably fair. He was making at that time
- 8:20Speaker 4: about three times as much as I was.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Okay, so you split it based on I guess, relationship
- 8:26Speaker 2: equity and equality like looked at it and went, oh,
- 8:29Speaker 2: it's the fairest like outcome here. At that time, that
- 8:32Speaker 2: was the idea. Yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 4: What we didn't do, and I would do and tell
- 8:36Speaker 4: anyone to do moving forward, was actually write down what
- 8:39Speaker 4: those utilities and other expenses entailed.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, because they do add up and sometimes you
- 8:44Speaker 2: don't notice.
- 8:46Speaker 4: As I was thinking about how everything was playing out
- 8:48Speaker 4: and I was still in the relationship, I wrote it
- 8:50Speaker 4: all down, and I was paying sixty percent of our
- 8:53Speaker 4: bills while he was making three times as much as me.
- 8:56Speaker 2: You were like, at the time, this made sense, but
- 8:57Speaker 2: it isn't really mass.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Yeah. We didn't actually right down the math. We were
- 9:01Speaker 4: just like that sounds right.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Yeah, and you trust each other, so like, why would
- 9:04Speaker 2: that matter, Like we're both on the same page. Yeah, cheers.
- 9:08Speaker 4: Yeah. So I was kind of realizing all these things.
- 9:10Speaker 4: And the big turning point for me one day was
- 9:12Speaker 4: I was heading out to go to work and he
- 9:13Speaker 4: was getting ready, and I thought, Oh, where are you
- 9:15Speaker 4: off to He's like, Oh, I'm going to the bank.
- 9:17Speaker 4: I'm like cool, what are you doing there? He's like, Oh,
- 9:19Speaker 4: I'm putting an offer and on a house, so I've
- 9:21Speaker 4: got to go sign all the paperwork.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Sorry, so what Yeah?
- 9:25Speaker 4: And we hadn't talked about it, nothing, didn't mention he
- 9:29Speaker 4: was by and I knew he'd been looking a long
- 9:30Speaker 4: time on risk.
- 9:32Speaker 2: How long have you been together at that point?
- 9:34Speaker 4: Built four and a half years?
- 9:35Speaker 2: Absolutely not, so what the heck?
- 9:38Speaker 4: Yeah, this was a turning point this day.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Oh my god, And like, come on, tell us what
- 9:43Speaker 2: happened In that moment.
- 9:45Speaker 4: I went silent because I was like, I need to
- 9:47Speaker 4: process this.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Surely it's a joke, Like surely.
- 9:51Speaker 4: And I knew he'd been looking for rentals, but yeah,
- 9:54Speaker 4: it's one thing to be looking for a year casually
- 9:56Speaker 4: on your phone.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I look on real estate, dot com, dot you all
- 9:59Speaker 2: the time. It's like a like, I don't think my
- 10:01Speaker 2: husband would look at me and be like oh, I'm
- 10:03Speaker 2: just trying to buy a house without my consent, Like
- 10:05Speaker 2: I'm just pervy, you know, Like that's not a weird habit.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Well what happened was he laughed and I laughed, and
- 10:11Speaker 4: I'm stealing on it and I'm calling my friends and I'm.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Like, can you just like fact check me? Like I'm
- 10:15Speaker 2: not like unhinged for being mad about this, right, Like
- 10:18Speaker 2: you're just checking in to make sure that's normal.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Right exactly. I'm like, is this normal? Should I be
- 10:23Speaker 4: mad about this? And everyone was like, yes, you should be.
- 10:26Speaker 4: I would not be okay, And I'm like, okay, this
- 10:28Speaker 4: is valid to be mad.
- 10:30Speaker 2: I like that. As women, we often seek validation for
- 10:33Speaker 2: our own feelings, even though your feelings are so valid
- 10:37Speaker 2: and you feel what you feel and you don't need that.
- 10:40Speaker 2: But I'm the same, Like, if I'm grumpy about something,
- 10:42Speaker 2: first thing I do, I'm like, call friend. I'm like, hey,
- 10:44Speaker 2: so like this is going on and these are my thoughts.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Let's be honest. Half the time, your friends are absolutely
- 10:49Speaker 2: gonna go money diarist. We love you. Yeah, you're right
- 10:52Speaker 2: even if you're wrong, So like we just need the validation.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Though hey, yeah I definitely did the calling around. I'm like,
- 10:59Speaker 4: what is this?
- 11:00Speaker 2: Is this unhinged or what? And then what happened?
- 11:02Speaker 4: To be honest, I stressed myself out so much that day,
- 11:05Speaker 4: like a ball of rage. I ended up in the
- 11:07Speaker 4: hospital and had to get my gallbladder out that night.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Well, no you didn't.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Yeah, the rage like manifested so strongly. Ooh no. So
- 11:17Speaker 4: I was in the hospital for a few days and
- 11:19Speaker 4: then recovering for a few weeks. So I didn't bring
- 11:20Speaker 4: it up because I'm like, this is not a conversation.
- 11:23Speaker 4: And then a few weeks later, I said, so, what
- 11:25Speaker 4: happens that day? And he's like, oh, someone else put
- 11:28Speaker 4: in a better offer.
- 11:29Speaker 2: But he hadn't even mentioned it until a couple of
- 11:31Speaker 2: weeks later, and you were like, Hey, what happened to that?
- 11:34Speaker 2: Did you buy a house that day? Because like you
- 11:36Speaker 2: didn't come home and give any outcome? Yeah, what the heck?
- 11:40Speaker 4: And I said, oh, well that's probably good because I
- 11:42Speaker 4: don't think we would have been able to stay in
- 11:45Speaker 4: this relationship if it did. He was just blindsided.
- 11:49Speaker 2: He's like, what how would you be blindsided by that? Sir?
- 11:52Speaker 4: What do you mean? Like, because he viewed and this
- 11:55Speaker 4: is something I'm hoping he's worked on conversations as asking
- 11:59Speaker 4: for permission. What it's a very unhealthy mindset.
- 12:04Speaker 2: You reckon?
- 12:05Speaker 4: Yeah, like to talk to me about it would have
- 12:07Speaker 4: felt to him like he had to have my permission
- 12:10Speaker 4: to do it.
- 12:11Speaker 2: So instead, what I'll do is I'll just be really
- 12:13Speaker 2: secretive and hid this really big financial decision from you
- 12:16Speaker 2: and then just let you know that your opinion didn't
- 12:19Speaker 2: mean anything to me.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Yeah. Oh I could cry hearing that, but it's true.
- 12:25Speaker 2: That's really nice of him to see it that way.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Were you okay? Like what happened? So obviously that's a
- 12:30Speaker 2: big conversation and he didn't see it coming.
- 12:34Speaker 4: What happened after that because he was still looking for rental,
- 12:37Speaker 4: I will say he did start trying to pull me
- 12:39Speaker 4: in a little bit more because he was getting more
- 12:41Speaker 4: serious about buying an investment property. Nice to him, so
- 12:45Speaker 4: he started asking me and I was like, oh, this
- 12:47Speaker 4: is really good, Like he kind of got it. But
- 12:50Speaker 4: then then there were just all these moments and I
- 12:53Speaker 4: call them little moments, but I feel like my therapist
- 12:55Speaker 4: would kill me. They weren't little moments.
- 12:57Speaker 2: We say little moments because along the way you don't notice.
- 12:59Speaker 2: But in hindsight, you look back and you go, well,
- 13:01Speaker 2: the little things are actually the big things.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I hit some like a financial milestone. I
- 13:07Speaker 4: made my first when I realized I was going to
- 13:09Speaker 4: make a hundred thousand in one year, queen. Yeah, I
- 13:13Speaker 4: was like so happy. And I told him and he
- 13:17Speaker 4: was just like, but you're not really making that, Like
- 13:19Speaker 4: you have to pay tax on that, you have expenses,
- 13:21Speaker 4: Like you're not actually making anywhere near that.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Get in the bea. It doesn't matter, like I am
- 13:26Speaker 2: hitting a milestone in my business. No, absolutely, you deserve
- 13:31Speaker 2: a cheerleater. You don't deserve some dude who questions everything
- 13:34Speaker 2: about your being. Absolutely not.
- 13:36Speaker 4: And that's when I started turning to my friends, and
- 13:38Speaker 4: my friends were like, that's amazing, Da da.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Da, that's the energy we're looking for.
- 13:43Speaker 4: So I stopped telling them about my milestones after that
- 13:47Speaker 4: because I didn't want to be brought down a peg,
- 13:49Speaker 4: which is never a good sign.
- 13:51Speaker 2: No, that's a really bad sign. But yes, I completely
- 13:53Speaker 2: understand why you might have done that.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Yeah. And then I think the final nail in the coffin,
- 13:58Speaker 4: which for me me was such a big moment, for him,
- 14:02Speaker 4: it was probably so insignificant he doesn't even remember saying it.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Yeah, it's always the way, isn't it.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Yeah, we were both off work. It was during the week.
- 14:11Speaker 4: He'd been on the computer all day. I was doing
- 14:13Speaker 4: other things, and like in the evening I went over
- 14:15Speaker 4: and I was like, hey, like, do you want to
- 14:16Speaker 4: do something You've been on the computer all day, Like
- 14:18Speaker 4: I'd like to do something cute. And he looked at
- 14:21Speaker 4: me and he said, I've made more money sitting here
- 14:24Speaker 4: today than you make in a month.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Sorry, that's not even related, sir, When it's not related
- 14:28Speaker 2: to what are you trying to get out of saying
- 14:30Speaker 2: this to me? Like, sometimes I think you just have
- 14:32Speaker 2: to ask someone like did you mean to be disrespectful?
- 14:35Speaker 2: You were trying to be like constructive, Like could you
- 14:37Speaker 2: just let me know where this conversation was going, because
- 14:39Speaker 2: like I'm not getting it.
- 14:41Speaker 4: If I ever encountered a moment like that again, like
- 14:43Speaker 4: how I respond would be very different. But in that moment,
- 14:46Speaker 4: I just like looked at him and smiled and walked away.
- 14:50Speaker 4: But like as I walked away, my knees felt like
- 14:52Speaker 4: they were going to collapse. It was like I died
- 14:55Speaker 4: on the inside.
- 14:56Speaker 2: You do not need someone in your life. Who drags
- 14:58Speaker 2: you down like that? That's actually discuss and I'm so
- 15:00Speaker 2: sorry you had to go through that.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Yeah, because he told me. Also, he was like, I
- 15:04Speaker 4: would never buy a house with you unless xyz, like
- 15:08Speaker 4: I meet certain conditions.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Oh the criteria. Yeah, okay, no worries.
- 15:12Speaker 4: There's a way to have that conversation. And starting it
- 15:14Speaker 4: off with I would never unless it's not the way
- 15:18Speaker 4: to have it.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Absolutely not, because we're either a team or we're not.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Are we not meant to be a team? And my
- 15:24Speaker 2: success is your success and like, you know, if I'm
- 15:27Speaker 2: not doing well, your job is to, like, you know,
- 15:29Speaker 2: pump me up and vice versa. Like life is a journey.
- 15:32Speaker 2: It's not just about like doing one thing. But like
- 15:34Speaker 2: if we're on a team, we're on a team. We've
- 15:36Speaker 2: been here for four and a half years now, Like
- 15:38Speaker 2: this is pretty serious. Not oh you have to meet
- 15:40Speaker 2: my criteria. Who did you borrow that confidence from? Because
- 15:43Speaker 2: it shows hell not yours.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Yeah. And after that moment, because I felt so worthless
- 15:49Speaker 4: by this point, oh no, Like even though I was
- 15:51Speaker 4: making good money, I felt like I was so worthless.
- 15:57Speaker 4: So I went to a mortgage broker and was like yeah,
- 16:00Speaker 4: how much could I get on my own? Like if
- 16:01Speaker 4: we're both going to buy our own houses and do
- 16:03Speaker 4: this on our own, And they gave me the dollar
- 16:05Speaker 4: amount and I was like, hold on, and that was
- 16:09Speaker 4: such like a good moment where I'm like, why do
- 16:11Speaker 4: I feel so worthless when I can do so much
- 16:14Speaker 4: on my own? Like I don't even need him to
- 16:16Speaker 4: buy a house?
- 16:17Speaker 2: Yeah exactly.
- 16:18Speaker 4: And that was the turning point where I think after
- 16:20Speaker 4: I started exploring, that was when I started being ready
- 16:22Speaker 4: to leave.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Yeah good? And then what did that look like? So
- 16:26Speaker 2: confidence back? You're like, actually, I really don't need you, sir,
- 16:29Speaker 2: and your audacity is starting to become the centerpoint of
- 16:32Speaker 2: our relationship and I'm not here for that. When did
- 16:35Speaker 2: you just be like, O, hey, sir, you can buy
- 16:38Speaker 2: your house with yourself for yourself, cause you're going to
- 16:41Speaker 2: need to relocate.
- 16:42Speaker 4: I think it took only a couple months from then.
- 16:44Speaker 4: I think it was pretty quickly from that conversation with
- 16:47Speaker 4: a mortgage broker to saying, if I'm gonna do all
- 16:50Speaker 4: these things on my own anyways, I'm going to be
- 16:52Speaker 4: on my own.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Yeah good.
- 16:53Speaker 4: And it only took a few months. And when I
- 16:55Speaker 4: said the words. The exact words were, I think it's
- 16:58Speaker 4: time for us to accept that we're not partners.
- 17:00Speaker 2: And how did that go? Was that toxic? Is that
- 17:03Speaker 2: an easy? Like change?
- 17:06Speaker 4: It was devastating, Like we were both sobbing, like it
- 17:09Speaker 4: was horrible. Yeah, but I'd made my decision at that point.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I'm proud of you. And then tell me about after
- 17:15Speaker 2: Obviously that was a while ago. How long ago was that?
- 17:18Speaker 2: And what are you doing now?
- 17:20Speaker 4: Yeah? So that was May twenty twenty two, and I
- 17:24Speaker 4: don't know what's happened since then, but like, there's so
- 17:27Speaker 4: much to say for your energy. I've gone through the
- 17:29Speaker 4: roof since then. I'm beyond my own capacity business wise.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Yes, going how good is that?
- 17:35Speaker 4: It's actually really good? Like I'm so proud of myself.
- 17:38Speaker 4: And I will say it was a couple months after
- 17:40Speaker 4: we broke up. I had my first twenty thousand dollars
- 17:43Speaker 4: in one month.
- 17:44Speaker 2: No, you didn't, how good?
- 17:46Speaker 4: Yeah, but the very first thing I did was break
- 17:49Speaker 4: down and sob. I was so sad because my first
- 17:53Speaker 4: thought was, oh, I could still cry saying this was
- 17:55Speaker 4: that wouldn't have been good enough for him? Like that
- 17:58Speaker 4: was my very first thought.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Rather than celebrate no, we're celebrating that. I'm so sorry
- 18:02Speaker 2: that that was your SPADs, But like we're not there
- 18:05Speaker 2: now are we? Like now when you have epic milestones,
- 18:07Speaker 2: how are we celebrating them?
- 18:09Speaker 4: Oh it's good now, Like I had my first thirty
- 18:11Speaker 4: thousand dollars a month and that was when my brain went, oh,
- 18:15Speaker 4: there was no amount that would have been good enough,
- 18:17Speaker 4: Like this is such a win for me.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent. And we need to shift that
- 18:21Speaker 2: mindset now.
- 18:22Speaker 4: When I hit milestones, I just like do a little
- 18:24Speaker 4: shimmy and I celebrate and I'm happy.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent. Oh my gosh. All right, so
- 18:28Speaker 2: you've mentioned obviously some pretty big sums, which is very,
- 18:32Speaker 2: very impressive. We need to know now, like you can't
- 18:35Speaker 2: just hold that back. What do you do for work?
- 18:37Speaker 2: How much money do you actually earn? My friend?
- 18:39Speaker 4: Well, not every month is like that. I run my
- 18:41Speaker 4: own event management business, running primarily corporate events all around Australia,
- 18:47Speaker 4: going international. This year, last financial year, I made two
- 18:52Speaker 4: hundred and eight thousand dollars.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, what No, you didn't what a queen. Yeah,
- 18:59Speaker 2: I'm so proud of you. Thank you, And you're about
- 19:02Speaker 2: to take over the world because you're saying that your
- 19:05Speaker 2: capacity is at its peak. So tell me what's the
- 19:08Speaker 2: plan for business.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Well, I'm at this weird spot in business where like,
- 19:13Speaker 4: to grow, I have to spend.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't like that part. I got there and
- 19:16Speaker 2: it makes you feel sick. You're like, but I don't
- 19:19Speaker 2: want you spend. I just worked really hard for this cash.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm in a bit of a holding pattern right now,
- 19:25Speaker 4: just because I am building a house.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Oh of course you are. She's earning megabucks. You don't
- 19:30Speaker 2: need no, man, No, I do not.
- 19:32Speaker 4: I don't think any of us do.
- 19:33Speaker 2: To be honest, we really don't. And you know what,
- 19:36Speaker 2: another human doesn't make us a whole, Like we just
- 19:38Speaker 2: want another human so that we can share our joy
- 19:41Speaker 2: and our journey. And I think that that's the way
- 19:43Speaker 2: it needs to be seen. How good is this that
- 19:45Speaker 2: you're now in that position though? It's like going to
- 19:48Speaker 2: be all on your term, so so exciting.
- 19:51Speaker 4: And it's crazy, like I was holding myself back waiting
- 19:53Speaker 4: for someone to want to do it with me when
- 19:55Speaker 4: I just could have done it.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Just get it done. It's fine, But.
- 19:58Speaker 4: It's all happening now, which fantastic.
- 20:00Speaker 2: If men can do it. Why can't wait do it?
- 20:02Speaker 2: It can't be that hard if they're able to, right.
- 20:05Speaker 4: Yes, for real.
- 20:07Speaker 2: So you've got your own business, You're absolutely killing it.
- 20:09Speaker 2: I'm obsessed. What are your big money goals? Like, what
- 20:11Speaker 2: are you currently working towards? You mentioned you're building a house.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Yeah, so, as I mentioned, I bought a house and
- 20:18Speaker 4: land package with the organization you've had on here.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Oh really, yes? How good? So I'm a like really
- 20:26Speaker 2: good influencer. Oh I love this.
- 20:29Speaker 4: I did buy it November twenty twenty two.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, but we can pretend I had something to
- 20:34Speaker 2: do with it.
- 20:35Speaker 4: You reaffirmed it was the correct decision.
- 20:37Speaker 2: They weren't a client yet, but now they are.
- 20:40Speaker 4: That will title in June. There's a big part of
- 20:43Speaker 4: money just sitting in my bank waiting to go out.
- 20:46Speaker 4: And then, because I've been in Australia for six years
- 20:48Speaker 4: now going on seven, really trying to grow my superin investments.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah that's exciting because everyone likes.
- 20:55Speaker 4: To tell me, oh, you're super is low for your age,
- 20:57Speaker 4: and I'm like, well, I also never heard of super
- 20:59Speaker 4: until Yeah.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Like I'm literally behind because I didn't live in this country.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Sit down, Yeah, who's telling you you're behind as well.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Let's just ditch them, let's get them out, because that's
- 21:10Speaker 2: not the energy we're bringing to the table.
- 21:13Speaker 4: I know it was a pre meeting with a financial investor.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Nah bread flag, red flag see you. Yeah, Oh my god,
- 21:22Speaker 2: that makes me so angry. Please tell me you didn't
- 21:25Speaker 2: get matched with them through the shees on the money community.
- 21:28Speaker 4: I did not.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Okay, good because I was about to be like, I'm
- 21:30Speaker 2: gonna have some chats.
- 21:32Speaker 4: No, no, no, I didn't.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I can match you with a good financial
- 21:36Speaker 2: advisor if you would like one that isn't condescending and rude,
- 21:39Speaker 2: so we can talk about that after. But you've been
- 21:43Speaker 2: here for six years? Do we get to keep you?
- 21:45Speaker 1: Like?
- 21:45Speaker 2: Are you going to be staying in Australia? Like are
- 21:47Speaker 2: you going to leave? I like your energy, Like we're
- 21:50Speaker 2: lucky to have you, so if you could stay, be great.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Ah, I'm staying. The house has been built, my citizenship's
- 21:56Speaker 4: coming through anytime now. I'm definitely staying.
- 21:59Speaker 2: How cool. All right, let's go to a really quick
- 22:01Speaker 2: break on the flip side. We're going to talk about
- 22:02Speaker 2: those investments. We're going to talk about debt and we're
- 22:05Speaker 2: going to talk about good and bad money habits because
- 22:07Speaker 2: I feel like we've just got so much to learn
- 22:09Speaker 2: from you. So guys, don't go anywhere. All right, money Diarist,
- 22:16Speaker 2: we are back. You mentioned before that you had won't
- 22:20Speaker 2: call it a run in, but like, if I was
- 22:21Speaker 2: in the room, it would definitely have been a run
- 22:23Speaker 2: in with a financial advisor who told you were behind.
- 22:26Speaker 2: So tell me about investments, like, what's the plan? Do
- 22:28Speaker 2: you have any? If not, what are they going to be?
- 22:31Speaker 2: What's the plan? What are your thoughts around this?
- 22:33Speaker 4: Yeah? So right now I do have about nineteen thousand
- 22:36Speaker 4: in my super.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Sorry, and they said, oh, you're so behind, Sit down, yeah,
- 22:42Speaker 2: because it's also all self nominated. So you're running your
- 22:45Speaker 2: own business and you're paying yourself super. Do you know
- 22:46Speaker 2: how many small business owners have been in business for
- 22:48Speaker 2: ten twenty years and they're still not doing that? Like ah, queen.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Behavior, Every single invoice that comes in from a client,
- 22:56Speaker 4: a percentage of it goes into my super.
- 22:59Speaker 2: You're a queen. What other investments have you got or
- 23:02Speaker 2: are you planning to make? Obviously you've got your business,
- 23:04Speaker 2: so I would assume that most of your focus is
- 23:06Speaker 2: there because that's how it works for me. What does
- 23:09Speaker 2: that look like?
- 23:10Speaker 4: Well, I do have about twenty grand in the stock market,
- 23:13Speaker 4: depending on the day when I log in and track,
- 23:16Speaker 4: which is painful sometimes.
- 23:18Speaker 2: And what does that look like?
- 23:20Speaker 4: Yeah? So about five grand of that and you can
- 23:23Speaker 4: credit yourself for this is in my SHARE's Ease.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Account, is it? Actually? That's very cool?
- 23:28Speaker 4: Yeah, because the same thing every single pay I get
- 23:31Speaker 4: from a client that hits my bank, I automatically transfer.
- 23:34Speaker 4: I have the five hundred dollars a month plan. Yeah, yeah,
- 23:37Speaker 4: and I just max that out every month, putting that in.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, obsessed.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Yeah. And I used to try to like find a
- 23:44Speaker 4: really good stock that looked like an up and comer,
- 23:46Speaker 4: and then after listening to you, I just started being like, no,
- 23:49Speaker 4: by responsible long term investments.
- 23:52Speaker 2: We can be spicy with our Mugga raiders, I reckon.
- 23:55Speaker 2: I think we just need to keep the investments boring
- 23:57Speaker 2: because then we can afford more Mugga raders and like
- 24:00Speaker 2: that's the life we all deserve, right, Yeah?
- 24:03Speaker 4: Absolutely?
- 24:04Speaker 2: What about the other fifteen grand? What's that in? And
- 24:07Speaker 2: how did you do it?
- 24:08Speaker 4: So that's in my CMC Market's account. I went through
- 24:11Speaker 4: this like massive phase of like lithium and the future minerals. Yep,
- 24:17Speaker 4: so that at fifteen grand actually would be way higher.
- 24:20Speaker 4: There's been a dip in that market.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Yeah, there has.
- 24:23Speaker 4: What's same thing. I think it's a long term investment
- 24:25Speaker 4: that will be going in the end.
- 24:27Speaker 2: How good And what got you into investing? Like, obviously
- 24:31Speaker 2: you haven't been here for that long and both of
- 24:34Speaker 2: these companies are Australian based platforms, So you've done this
- 24:38Speaker 2: in the last six years, which is epic, but like,
- 24:41Speaker 2: how did you start investing? Yeah?
- 24:44Speaker 4: Absolute pettiness was the real answer to that.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Good, That's what drives a lot of my decisions
- 24:49Speaker 2: as well, if we're being brutally honest.
- 24:51Speaker 4: Because my ex invested a lot and he would kind
- 24:54Speaker 4: of tell me some things, but as you may have gathered,
- 24:57Speaker 4: he wouldn't never say like, oh I'm getting this much
- 25:01Speaker 4: in this like you wouldn't have a conversation with me
- 25:03Speaker 4: about it. So when we broke up, I was like, well,
- 25:08Speaker 4: the only choice I have in life right now is
- 25:10Speaker 4: to start beating him at the investment game. It's a
- 25:12Speaker 4: competition with myself really, but you know, I love it.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Like a lot of people would be like I'm going
- 25:16Speaker 2: to get a better car than him and drive it
- 25:18Speaker 2: in front of his house, but that's obviously a depreciating asset,
- 25:21Speaker 2: and you're like, low, ki, I'm just gonna get rich
- 25:23Speaker 2: af Like I'm just going to show him that, like
- 25:26Speaker 2: he might have earned more than you at some point,
- 25:28Speaker 2: but also I own my own business.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Sit down, I know he's not right now.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Cool for him.
- 25:32Speaker 4: I like that, which I try not to be petty.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Oh no, no, no, sometimes we need to be a
- 25:37Speaker 2: little bit petty, Like we don't have to be petty
- 25:38Speaker 2: the whole time, but sometimes we can be, like I'm
- 25:40Speaker 2: actually in a better place, thank you.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I feel bad saying that, but.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Like you're the anonymous one, Like I've just said that
- 25:48Speaker 2: publicly in front of my entire community, that I am
- 25:51Speaker 2: not only petty, but I love it. It's like how
- 25:53Speaker 2: I love gossip, Like I don't want to be involved,
- 25:56Speaker 2: but like I would love to be a fly on
- 25:58Speaker 2: the wall in some conversations, Like I will be brutally
- 26:01Speaker 2: honest about that. Judge me if you want, but let's
- 26:04Speaker 2: be honest. We're all here because we're all a little
- 26:05Speaker 2: bit pervy. This is money diaries, after all.
- 26:08Speaker 4: I'm going to take that energy, like, let's.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Just go with it. Like I am who I am?
- 26:13Speaker 2: I can't change that. Talk to me about debt. Do
- 26:15Speaker 2: you have any debt? What are your thoughts on debt?
- 26:17Speaker 4: Yeah? So I have no debt, which I think is
- 26:20Speaker 4: a really good position to be in. I will as
- 26:22Speaker 4: soon as, obviously the mortgage comes yep. But at this moment,
- 26:26Speaker 4: I have no debt.
- 26:27Speaker 2: And what will your mortgage look like?
- 26:29Speaker 4: Yeah? So I got really lucky getting in so early.
- 26:32Speaker 4: So I bought it November twenty twenty two for six
- 26:36Speaker 4: seventy so four bedroom house, three mathrooms, six hundred and
- 26:41Speaker 4: seventy k just outside of Melbourne.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that's very nice.
- 26:45Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's the advantage of buying so early.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:49Speaker 4: But I've got twenty percent down. So my mortgage I
- 26:51Speaker 4: think it's about the five thirty four marc.
- 26:54Speaker 2: And you've already paid the whole twenty percent deposit.
- 26:57Speaker 4: No, So when you initially do it, there's a certain
- 27:00Speaker 4: percentage you have to put down, and then when the
- 27:02Speaker 4: land titles, you put the balance of the deposit down.
- 27:05Speaker 2: So you've just got that sitting in cash waiting in.
- 27:08Speaker 4: Like a high interestceidings account.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and that's what you're talking about before. And
- 27:12Speaker 2: then once that goes down, then you've obviously got your
- 27:15Speaker 2: mortgage broker lined up to get your loan in stated
- 27:19Speaker 2: and you reckon that'll be about five hundred and thirty
- 27:21Speaker 2: four thousand dollars. Yeah, and then I need to know,
- 27:25Speaker 2: obviously brought in November twenty twenty two, is that property
- 27:28Speaker 2: like if you look in the same areas, is that
- 27:30Speaker 2: property now worth six seventy years? It a little bit
- 27:33Speaker 2: more than that, because like I have a sneaky suspicion.
- 27:36Speaker 4: If someone got that lot beside me, exact same house,
- 27:40Speaker 4: same lot size, everything, it would be about seven sixty
- 27:43Speaker 4: Right now.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Money, we look at this queen, she's like got her
- 27:45Speaker 2: own business killing it. But also you've got like this
- 27:48Speaker 2: investment that hasn't even like vested yet. How exciting.
- 27:52Speaker 4: I know, I am excited.
- 27:54Speaker 2: I'm excited for you. And you said it was just
- 27:57Speaker 2: out of Melbourne. Are you moving straight into this? Is
- 28:00Speaker 2: this an investment property?
- 28:02Speaker 1: Like?
- 28:02Speaker 2: What does this look like?
- 28:03Speaker 4: So the plan right now, because of what I've been
- 28:05Speaker 4: doing to save the money, will be to move into
- 28:08Speaker 4: it just to have a bit of stability and enjoy it.
- 28:12Speaker 4: And be proud of it.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and a five point thirty four thousand dollars mortgage
- 28:17Speaker 2: is very reasonable in Melbourne. I know interest rates are
- 28:20Speaker 2: quite high at the moment, but that is still very palatable.
- 28:23Speaker 2: It's still very you know, reasonable, especially in this current
- 28:26Speaker 2: market where the average property price in Melbourne is more
- 28:28Speaker 2: than a million dollars. Now, like you're killing it. Yeah,
- 28:32Speaker 2: I'm obsessed with that. So tell me what are your
- 28:36Speaker 2: best money habits do you think? Because I feel like
- 28:39Speaker 2: you've probably always had some pretty good money habits, especially
- 28:42Speaker 2: because you were like, oh I didn't you know, used
- 28:44Speaker 2: to earn heaps and heaps of money. But I also
- 28:47Speaker 2: think that there's a lot of confidence that you have
- 28:49Speaker 2: now that you didn't have before and they might play
- 28:51Speaker 2: into your money habits.
- 28:52Speaker 4: So tell us teach us for sure. So my best
- 28:57Speaker 4: money habit, I would say, is how actually resourceful I
- 28:59Speaker 4: am with money now. So the way I've structured it
- 29:03Speaker 4: because I wanted to buy a house really quickly after
- 29:05Speaker 4: the breakoup spite driven. I like it like I don't
- 29:08Speaker 4: have family here, like no support with the house process.
- 29:12Speaker 4: So I decided to house it full time. Oh cool,
- 29:17Speaker 4: So I house it for people who are overseas in
- 29:18Speaker 4: Europe for a few months, so I don't have rent,
- 29:21Speaker 4: I don't have utilities, like I found ways to get
- 29:25Speaker 4: spat treatments at no cost, my hair done at no costs, like,
- 29:28Speaker 4: I almost eliminated every cost in my life.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Obviously, no one knows who you are and they can't
- 29:33Speaker 2: say you, but I can. Your beautiful blonde hair you
- 29:36Speaker 2: get done for free. Yeah no, you don't. That does
- 29:40Speaker 2: not look free, babe. I'm really sorry.
- 29:44Speaker 4: I am particular about who I go to.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Of course it's obvious.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Yeah no, I found a way to cut out almost
- 29:50Speaker 4: every cost in life to be able to make the
- 29:52Speaker 4: house happen fast.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Okay, you can't say that and not tell us how
- 29:55Speaker 2: like you can't be like, yep, I found a hack
- 29:57Speaker 2: to cutting out every cost in life.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Yep.
- 30:00Speaker 2: So moving on, Like, how where are you finding these?
- 30:03Speaker 4: It's like what the house sitting thing to save Ryan
- 30:06Speaker 4: was trusted house sitters. So I do move every few months,
- 30:11Speaker 4: which has a toll in itself. It's a little bit
- 30:13Speaker 4: of a lack of stability for long term goal. I'm
- 30:16Speaker 4: in tons of like model groups, So hairdressers you want
- 30:20Speaker 4: to do upgrades or treatments or I'm a model for
- 30:23Speaker 4: a big skin company, so I get all my like
- 30:26Speaker 4: skin treatments and needlin and I got a peel a
- 30:28Speaker 4: few days.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Oh, very nice, big skin companies a fancy too.
- 30:33Speaker 4: You want to give up my lifestyle, gol you have it? Yeah, yeah,
- 30:38Speaker 4: And I go to the massage school for massages for
- 30:40Speaker 4: like ten dollars for an hour. Like so I just
- 30:42Speaker 4: found a way of all the things I love. How
- 30:44Speaker 4: can I still do those things without spending a fortune.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Tendalls an hour for a massage? Did you know? I
- 30:49Speaker 2: didn't even know that was a thing. I'm going to
- 30:51Speaker 2: need it. Oh, I didn't even know that existed, Like
- 30:54Speaker 2: you joking. I don't care who's doing it, as long
- 30:56Speaker 2: as you're rubbing my back and telling me that I'm
- 30:58Speaker 2: a nice lady. I mean, yeah, like ten our ten experience.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Even my AUTI wrinkle, Like I pay one fifty for
- 31:06Speaker 4: crows feet forehead brown.
- 31:08Speaker 2: No, you don't, yeah, excuse me, Like I've been public
- 31:13Speaker 2: about this, Like I get botox at the moment I'm pregnant,
- 31:16Speaker 2: so I definitely haven't had botox in like the last
- 31:19Speaker 2: eighteen months. But when I do it, that's like a
- 31:21Speaker 2: four hundred and fifty dollar cost and now you're just
- 31:25Speaker 2: getting it for one fifty because you're just like, by
- 31:27Speaker 2: the way, Victoria, you're an idiot, I've hacked the system.
- 31:32Speaker 2: All right, Well, we have a lot to talk about
- 31:33Speaker 2: offline because I'm going to need some information on that,
- 31:35Speaker 2: Like we're going to need all of this. Is this
- 31:38Speaker 2: something that you've always been good at hustling up or
- 31:40Speaker 2: were you like no, no, no, like this is recent.
- 31:43Speaker 4: I think I was always really good at hustling his
- 31:45Speaker 4: for the longest time. Travel was a priority for me.
- 31:48Speaker 4: So very different ways, but same resourcefulness. Like I was
- 31:52Speaker 4: using house sitting, I was using couch surphine, I was
- 31:55Speaker 4: using like I was finding ways to travel and pain
- 31:58Speaker 4: almost next to nothing to travel. Same skill, but different priorities.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Yeah, so smart. Does this woman have any bad money habits?
- 32:07Speaker 4: Well, if you asked me to go to Croatia tomorrow,
- 32:11Speaker 4: I'd be like, well, I do not have any events
- 32:13Speaker 4: next week, so I could do that.
- 32:15Speaker 2: She's spontaneous. We like that. This could be a really
- 32:18Speaker 2: good dating profile. By the way, like you're selling me,
- 32:21Speaker 2: I'm like, yep, she's a catch ten out of ten.
- 32:23Speaker 2: So you're spontaneous, Like that's not a bad money habit.
- 32:27Speaker 2: But like, is that because you get fomo or is
- 32:30Speaker 2: that because you really valued travel? Like what would that
- 32:34Speaker 2: decision making process be like in your head?
- 32:36Speaker 4: I really value travel, I would say, because it's just
- 32:40Speaker 4: such a good reminder of like how resilient you are
- 32:42Speaker 4: and how you can navigate your way through foreign countries,
- 32:45Speaker 4: and like you really remember the best parts of yourself
- 32:48Speaker 4: when you're traveling, And I love that.
- 32:50Speaker 2: That's actually really beautiful. But also, like, you can't tell
- 32:54Speaker 2: me that that's in a bad money habit.
- 32:56Speaker 4: I probably do it to a point where too many times.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Do you have a lot of friends that are like, hey,
- 33:03Speaker 2: do you want to go to Croatia next week? If so,
- 33:05Speaker 2: where do I find more friends like that? Because a
- 33:07Speaker 2: lot of mine are like, hey, do you want to
- 33:08Speaker 2: go for coffee next week? And I'm kind of like, well, yeah,
- 33:11Speaker 2: but you didn't offer Croatia, So.
- 33:14Speaker 4: Not a lot. I did end up in Dubai a
- 33:16Speaker 4: few weeks ago because of an opportunity a girlfriend.
- 33:19Speaker 2: I love this mostly.
- 33:21Speaker 4: I travel so well.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Adore. That's not the worst money habit, especially because you're
- 33:25Speaker 2: such a hustler in every other aspect, Like it's clearly
- 33:30Speaker 2: not crippling your ability to get ahead, like you're killing it.
- 33:33Speaker 2: I love it all right. So at the start of
- 33:35Speaker 2: this episode, you said, look, I reckon, I'm an as.
- 33:38Speaker 2: What would that take to get to an A plus? Like,
- 33:41Speaker 2: what does that actually look like for you personally.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Coming out of what we just discussed.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Yeah, because I think you're an A plus. So like
- 33:48Speaker 2: it's kind of like a double edged sword. I'm like,
- 33:50Speaker 2: tell me, why don't you think you're good enough after
- 33:52Speaker 2: all of this?
- 33:54Speaker 4: Only because I will book so many last minute flights
- 33:57Speaker 4: where then your mind goes like, oh, that flight was
- 33:59Speaker 4: two thousand dollars I could have saved. But you're right, like,
- 34:02Speaker 4: I am doing fine with doing that.
- 34:05Speaker 2: I mean, it's a lot of money, so I can
- 34:06Speaker 2: see why you're questioning it. But I also think we
- 34:09Speaker 2: need to have some balance in life. Like I've said
- 34:12Speaker 2: so many times before, and I say this to all
- 34:15Speaker 2: of my friends and family because I'm a little bit
- 34:17Speaker 2: like woo woo at the same time. But old age
- 34:20Speaker 2: is a privilege that is denied to so many people.
- 34:23Speaker 2: And when we're talking about life, it's really for me
- 34:26Speaker 2: about the journey and enjoying it. And that's why I've
- 34:29Speaker 2: never been one of these, I guess finance people who
- 34:31Speaker 2: are like, you know, I want to create fire, which
- 34:33Speaker 2: is like financial independence, retire early because I'm just like,
- 34:37Speaker 2: I cannot see myself dedicating ten or twenty years to
- 34:40Speaker 2: living super frugally and not enjoying my life along the way,
- 34:44Speaker 2: so that you know, hopefully in the future when I
- 34:47Speaker 2: get there, I have enough money to live the life
- 34:50Speaker 2: that I think I deserve. Like, why can't we just
- 34:51Speaker 2: do that the whole way and have some level of balance,
- 34:54Speaker 2: Like I'm not that type of person who you know,
- 34:57Speaker 2: wants to save and scrimp on every penny because it's
- 34:59Speaker 2: not of value to me. And does that mean that
- 35:02Speaker 2: I don't respect people who do that. No, absolutely not,
- 35:04Speaker 2: Like get it if that's what you want to do,
- 35:07Speaker 2: But for me, I'm kind of like, well, it's a
- 35:08Speaker 2: two thousand dollars flight. But as you said before, you
- 35:11Speaker 2: were like, you remember the best parts of you when
- 35:14Speaker 2: you travel, Like is that not what we should be
- 35:16Speaker 2: focusing on? Like, should we not be focusing on what
- 35:19Speaker 2: sparks joy and what brings out the best in us
- 35:22Speaker 2: so that you know, you can come home and build
- 35:26Speaker 2: your business and become a really big hustler and buy
- 35:28Speaker 2: your house and then you know, go all right, well,
- 35:30Speaker 2: I do need to get away again, because like that's
- 35:32Speaker 2: what sparks joy Like. I just can't see it as
- 35:34Speaker 2: a bad money habit. From that lens, this is as
- 35:38Speaker 2: good as therapy. It's almost like I like did psychology
- 35:42Speaker 2: as well.
- 35:43Speaker 4: Wild Everything you said is so true.
- 35:45Speaker 2: But yes, I'm glad I can't see it as a
- 35:47Speaker 2: bad money habit. I look at this, I'm like, holy guacamole.
- 35:50Speaker 2: You are so impressive. Like your business is obviously thriving.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Everything else in your life is thriving. What's next? Obviously
- 35:59Speaker 2: You've got a few decision to make about growing and
- 36:01Speaker 2: maybe scaling your business, But like, have you got any
- 36:04Speaker 2: plans in place? Where are we off to?
- 36:05Speaker 4: I do have, in addition to the business side project
- 36:08Speaker 4: that I do that is profitable at this time, that
- 36:12Speaker 4: I'm doing a number of things to grow that. So
- 36:15Speaker 4: I'm working a lot on the side on like setting
- 36:18Speaker 4: up some collaborations and growing that project as well.
- 36:22Speaker 2: How exciting.
- 36:24Speaker 4: Yeah, and I would love to hire someone, but I
- 36:26Speaker 4: have to wait until after that house has settled.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Yeah, like your first hire, I reckon is the scariest hire.
- 36:33Speaker 4: It is so scary.
- 36:34Speaker 2: It's like the responsibility that you take on, but also
- 36:38Speaker 2: it just feels like a really heavy responsibility. But it'll
- 36:40Speaker 2: be the best time of your life, I promise.
- 36:42Speaker 4: Okay, good. That gives me confidence.
- 36:45Speaker 2: I mean as someone who hired their first person and
- 36:47Speaker 2: was like, oh, I'm just going to like, you know,
- 36:49Speaker 2: have this one assistant. Now I have thirty plus stuff
- 36:51Speaker 2: like it does compound after that, but in the best
- 36:55Speaker 2: of ways. Yeah, all right, money, dirist. I have adored
- 36:58Speaker 2: our conversation, Like, I just think this is so cool,
- 37:02Speaker 2: Like you're just a hustler. I'm glad that we don't
- 37:04Speaker 2: have that boyfriend anymore. He didn't deserve you anyway, so
- 37:07Speaker 2: good riddance. But everything you've achieved on your own is
- 37:10Speaker 2: just such an inspiration because you've just done it on
- 37:13Speaker 2: your own, isn't that like the coolest thing ever? They're like,
- 37:15Speaker 2: I did this. No one helped me. Literally, they didn't
- 37:18Speaker 2: even try to help me, and that's why we kicked
- 37:20Speaker 2: them out. But I think it's just so cool. So
- 37:22Speaker 2: I know our community is going to have loved this
- 37:24Speaker 2: diary as much as I have, So thank you for
- 37:27Speaker 2: sharing it and being so candid. And yeah, I just
- 37:30Speaker 2: adore it, and I know they will too.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Thank you. I appreciate that.
