SPEAKER_00: Hey everyone, welcome back to another episode of Heal Yourself Podcast.
0:56
SPEAKER_00: Today you got Denise and I, and we're talking about one of my favorite topics, interpretations.
1:03
SPEAKER_01: I always have to do that.
1:07
SPEAKER_00: But I mean, we we make interpretations about everything.
1:11
SPEAKER_00: Like listening right now, you're making an interpretation.
1:14
SPEAKER_00: Looking at my cup of coffee over here, I'm making an interpretation.
1:18
SPEAKER_00: Like everything in your life is an interpretation.
1:23
SPEAKER_00: And I think that's important to know, especially on your healing journey, and and just living in this world, right?
1:30
SPEAKER_00: You're having conversations with other people.
1:33
SPEAKER_00: I think it's important to recognize that you're making interpretations about them, the way you're perceiving what they're saying, how they're saying it to you, and they're also making interpretations.
1:44
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I see you shaking.
1:48
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
1:48
SPEAKER_01: I'm agreeing with you because you told me yesterday about the topic, and I was like, Yeah, let's roll with it.
1:54
SPEAKER_01: So, what do you have for us?
1:56
SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah, we always roll with it.
1:58
SPEAKER_01: We always do this.
1:59
SPEAKER_01: We don't prep, we literally just talk about it.
2:02
SPEAKER_01: We're like, oh, I mean, because also we we also take examples from our lives and then from the people around us.
2:09
SPEAKER_01: I think something happened last week in the situation with you, and um, and then I kind of see it.
2:16
SPEAKER_01: We're not gonna name names and we're not gonna also really be specific about the topic, but you sent me something that you had posted or someone sent you a message, and and when you told me the background, and you're like, you kind of was like, Well, this person is seeking is interpreting negativity, and then which is which is very was very obvious to me, it's like there are so many ways that she could have gone, or he, I'm gonna throw for a loop.
2:43
SPEAKER_01: And then that person chose consistently to choose that to interpret the negative side of things instead of the positive side of things, and some of the things were said were like it doesn't even make sense where you're headed with this, so it's absolutely what you said.
3:01
SPEAKER_01: It is, it's truly what we interpret.
3:03
SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, you and I can look at we can walk into a room, you and I can walk into a room, and depends on our experiences and what we're telling ourselves and our thoughts.
3:12
SPEAKER_01: We can interpret that as everybody's horrible, I hate them.
3:16
SPEAKER_01: It's like a negative situation, or you can go in, oh my goodness, it's so awesome! Like, I'm loving, I love meeting new people, they're amazing.
3:24
SPEAKER_01: You know, we all have our different colors with different diversities and whatever.
3:29
SPEAKER_01: So it yeah, it's just little, and it also depends on our experiences, I feel as well.
3:35
SPEAKER_00: I a hundred percent think that because if you go into a situation, but you've had all of these experiences in your life, whether childhood, in your 20s, whatever, that's going to shape how you're interpreting things, right?
3:49
SPEAKER_00: Like we always hear um, you know, do you see the glass is half empty or half full?
3:54
SPEAKER_00: Well, that's still making an interpretation, and it's based on your upbringing.
3:59
SPEAKER_00: How did you grow up?
4:00
SPEAKER_00: How did all of these years shape your life?
4:03
SPEAKER_00: And then now, based on those things, how are you interpreting?
4:06
SPEAKER_00: Because you're right, I made a post on social media and I was not triggered.
4:09
SPEAKER_00: Uh, like I didn't care, but I'm like, gosh, I feel like I'm being misinterpreted because I don't mean it this way.
4:16
SPEAKER_00: And this is what can be so important, like I said, not just on the healing journey, but having conversations and having relationships with other people of recognizing, hmm, I don't think that they're understanding things the way that I mean it.
4:29
SPEAKER_00: Many people then it leads to arguments, right?
4:32
SPEAKER_00: And it's not healthy.
4:33
SPEAKER_00: But you could say, like, hey, I really think you're misinterpreting it.
4:37
SPEAKER_00: How are you perceiving this?
4:38
SPEAKER_00: What meaning are you making?
4:40
SPEAKER_00: Because we're meaning-making machines, and then that can lead to another conversation, right?
4:47
SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
4:48
SPEAKER_01: And um, I I got something in my head, and it just like went away right away when you were talking.
4:53
SPEAKER_01: Oh my goodness.
4:55
SPEAKER_01: But um yes, it's it's um, I don't know, it's just gone.
5:02
SPEAKER_01: It will come back, but it's gone.
5:05
SPEAKER_01: Yes, and it's just and it I have to go back to what are you telling yourself that day, right?
5:12
SPEAKER_01: And um, and again, you know, oh, oh, oh, people are gonna misinterpret you or misunderstand you no matter what you do.
5:19
SPEAKER_01: So always say your your what you want to say, right?
5:22
SPEAKER_01: Because and then again, what they interpret or what they misunderstand is not your because I feel sometimes that yeah, I think what when you were talking kind of like triggered with me, not triggered, said to me something because I used to be misunderstood a lot in my relationship and very misinterpreted, and then I felt like I had the need to explain and explain and explain, and you fall into the over-explaining, which is drama response, and now I noticed myself over-explaining.
5:48
SPEAKER_01: So now I try to like no keep it to the minimum, even if it's just like a with with a friend, instead of like, okay, I can't go to the whatever to the dinner instead of saying, Well, I have this, this, and this.
5:58
SPEAKER_01: So I started practicing with that, but it's also really, really, really important that to know to say what you want to say, to say your truth to to whatever, no matter how people are gonna perceive you or interpret, because you're not their experiences, you're not their thoughts.
6:14
SPEAKER_01: You don't know what they're walking around all day long telling.
6:18
SPEAKER_01: They may be walking into the situation, already making up their mind, they're gonna argue with you.
6:24
SPEAKER_01: So no matter what you say and what you do, there's nothing, nothing can change that.
6:30
SPEAKER_01: No power can change that other than letting it go.
6:33
SPEAKER_01: And again, in another thing, you walking into a situation or an art or or in a conversation or whatever, walking in um with an open mind.
6:44
SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go to what we tell my students is flexible brain, right?
6:49
SPEAKER_01: It just keeps you open to everything versus like, oh no, no, I'm this, I'm this.
6:54
SPEAKER_01: This can be applied to politics, like you know, when people are like, Oh, I'm only that, I'm not gonna see the other side.
6:58
SPEAKER_01: Well, wait a minute, I do see both sides.
7:02
SPEAKER_01: You know, a friend of mine called me last week and she told me about a situation, and I was like literally like laughing because I was like, I told her, I because I know the two people, I was like, I literally see both sides, I can see how you took it this way, how you know that person took it that way, and then they ended up, of course, texting, and it was just total misunderstanding, right?
7:23
SPEAKER_01: So, um, it it does matter to um express yourself all the time, your truth, and don't over-explain.
7:33
SPEAKER_00: Well, and I also think, yes, I mean I agree with you, but I think like this is a healing podcast, and someone might be like, Well, how does this like how does this roll into healing?
7:46
SPEAKER_00: And honestly, think about it.
7:48
SPEAKER_00: If you're always misinterpreting things, if you're going into something making meaning before the situation has happened, if you're going in with negative, um, you know, like a negative background before you get to it, think about what that's doing to your physical body, think about what it's doing to your nervous system.
8:06
SPEAKER_00: If you're always doing that, that's that's not healthy for your mind, your body, any of it, right?
8:13
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and if your nervous system is dysregulated, guess what?
8:16
SPEAKER_01: Your whole health is going down the drain, no matter how much smoothies and how much kale you're eating, buddy.
8:20
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know what I mean, or girl.
8:22
SPEAKER_01: Or what pills you're taking, how many supplement pills you're taking, because when your nervous system is dysregulated, it is no bueno, no bueno.
8:30
SPEAKER_01: Like you need to really, I you know, sometimes I know that we don't talk about like supplements and health and like body and organs and systems, but we're talking about the really, I think the most important thing, which is truly healing the your inside, the thoughts, the trauma, the experiences, the the interpretations, because those are all making you sick because it's driving your nerves, your nervous system haywire.
8:54
SPEAKER_01: And when your nervous system is not happy, you're not safe.
8:56
SPEAKER_01: And when you're not safe, guess what?
8:58
SPEAKER_01: There's no digestion happening, there's no explosion happening.
9:02
SPEAKER_00: All of it, and that's the thing.
9:04
SPEAKER_00: Think about how many times, like you guys listening right now, how many times have you misinterpreted?
9:09
SPEAKER_00: And if you're like, oh no, I I you know, I don't look around.
9:14
SPEAKER_00: When I said we're meaning making machines, we are everything in your life is neutral, and that might be triggering to hear, but every situation that happens is neutral.
9:26
SPEAKER_00: There's no positive, there's no negative.
9:29
SPEAKER_00: You create that positive or negative.
9:31
SPEAKER_00: And so if you're always going in with oh, this thing happened, or this conversation, whatever it might be, if you're making the meaning mean something negative, that's dysregulating your nervous system.
9:44
SPEAKER_00: You're not gonna feel good about it.
9:46
SPEAKER_00: Why not say, hmm, I want to better understand this situation, this person, whatever, create a better meaning.
9:53
SPEAKER_00: And there are so many examples we could look at, like look around.
9:57
SPEAKER_00: We could be in the exact same situation where Denise and I are stuck in traffic and you're cursing up a storm because you want to get somewhere, and your interpretation is that people are idiots or whatever, you know.
10:08
SPEAKER_00: And I'm looking around and I'm like, oh my gosh, that's such a cool car right there.
10:12
SPEAKER_00: And oh, I haven't seen the sky this blue in a long time.
10:15
SPEAKER_00: So even little things like that, you're making meaning.
10:19
SPEAKER_01: So I get to listen to my audible book for longer right now.
10:23
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
10:24
SPEAKER_00: And and that's the thing, you get to choose because the situations are always neutral.
10:29
SPEAKER_00: So, what are you gonna do with that?
10:31
SPEAKER_00: How are you gonna interpret it?
10:32
SPEAKER_00: Interpretate.
10:34
SPEAKER_00: I just made up a word, interpreted.
10:35
SPEAKER_01: I totally made up a word, interpreted, and this is an English teacher, right there, people.
10:39
SPEAKER_01: Okay, seeing of perfection.
10:40
SPEAKER_01: Walking in yesterday, I was starting, I started listening to one of Kathy's podcasts, and she was talking about like, you know, just really like the she walks in in any situation, um, and per like knowing that it's okay not to be perfect, right?
10:53
SPEAKER_01: So it doesn't um uh freeze her or do whatever she needs to do, whatever.
10:58
SPEAKER_01: But anyway, I'm gonna give an example about health, to be honest with you, with myself.
11:02
SPEAKER_01: Because remember, for the longest time, I I've been trying to gain weight for the longest time, and I keep losing, losing, losing, even though I'm eating.
11:09
SPEAKER_01: It's not like I'm not eating, because I would tell myself, like, I know you're eating, Denise, but what's going on?
11:13
SPEAKER_01: It's because my nervous system was dysregulated being in you know in the relationship.
11:17
SPEAKER_01: But when I left the relationship and when I left the environment, I'm gaining weight.
11:23
SPEAKER_01: I'm gaining weight.
11:24
SPEAKER_01: And I am eating maybe the same or a little bit more.
11:28
SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna deny it, but also why am I eating a little bit more?
11:30
SPEAKER_01: Because my nervous system is safe, my nervous system is regulated.
11:33
SPEAKER_01: Sorry, my nervous system is regulated.
11:35
SPEAKER_01: There's safety, there is the need to eat, there's the need to feel the hunger.
11:40
SPEAKER_01: Whereas before, even when I felt the hunger, my nervous system was like, Nope, you're not safe, you're in survival mode.
11:46
SPEAKER_01: I need to save you because remember, we are wired to be um for survival, right?
11:52
SPEAKER_01: And so that's you know, I have been gaining weight and I feel much better.
11:56
SPEAKER_01: I do, and the thing is, another thing is just whenever I want to nap, I nap.
12:01
SPEAKER_01: And I've been napping, you know, to kind of also help my nervous system more.
12:05
SPEAKER_01: So it does, whatever we're talking about, really, really, really does help with your health.
12:10
SPEAKER_01: So evaluate where whatever in your health journey you are and see, like what am I interpreting or what am I seeing, or and I love what you said, you know, walking in everything is neutral with every situation is neutral, is what what the spices that we put on it, and you decide what kind of seasoning and what kind of spices you want your life because it does come back to a choice, and I know we're broken record, but it does come back to a choice, no matter what.
12:38
SPEAKER_01: Like it could like the traffic situation.
12:40
SPEAKER_01: I could you could look at it like, yay, I can listen to the podcast, it's an hour.
12:44
SPEAKER_01: Thank God I get to finish it, and I'll be like, What the heck?
12:48
SPEAKER_01: I'm late now.
12:49
SPEAKER_01: Everything's gonna get ruined, and guess what?
12:51
SPEAKER_01: Everything will get ruined.
12:52
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because you're the one assigning the meaning to it, and meaning is an interpretation.
12:57
SPEAKER_00: And I just I want to touch on what you said because I love that you brought up the nervous system, that's like my love language.
13:04
SPEAKER_00: But if we think about it, our nervous system stores every single meaning that we make, right?
13:11
SPEAKER_00: And I don't think a lot of people really think about that.
13:14
SPEAKER_00: They think about, oh, okay, I read that, you know, uh the body stores emotions, but it's the same thing.
13:20
SPEAKER_00: When you're creating meaning or an interpretation, there are emotions behind that.
13:25
SPEAKER_00: If you're constantly, like I'll I'll use my social media um as an example.
13:29
SPEAKER_00: If you're constantly someone that wants to argue, not on my page, because I don't care, but like going to other people's and being like, I don't agree, I don't agree, I don't agree.
13:37
SPEAKER_00: This is wrong.
13:38
SPEAKER_00: A, why do you care?
13:39
SPEAKER_00: You're you know, doing that on social media, and B, you're then creating meanings that are not serving you.
13:45
SPEAKER_00: And we've talked about this before, you're giving your power away.
13:48
SPEAKER_00: That's a piece of that as well.
13:50
SPEAKER_00: So you're dysregulating everything in your life.
13:54
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, and it's just whenever your nervous system is dysregulated, you are in survival mode.
13:59
SPEAKER_01: I mean, your your body is just meant to protect you, yeah.
14:04
SPEAKER_01: And um, yeah, like whether there's a threat, because what is it?
14:08
SPEAKER_01: What does it say?
14:09
SPEAKER_01: Like, your body does not know if the situation you're experiencing is real or the situation is in your mind, right?
14:16
SPEAKER_01: So, and I know you've mentioned something about people saying something about the past or the future.
14:21
SPEAKER_01: The past exists in your mind, truly, truly, truly, because it's technically not there.
14:26
SPEAKER_00: But what so that was the the trigger for the person.
14:30
SPEAKER_00: That was that's what I I made a post about.
14:32
SPEAKER_00: Um, I said one of my spiritual mentors has always said the past and the future do not exist, it's only the present.
14:38
SPEAKER_00: And that was triggering for this person, and that again triggers our lessons.
14:43
SPEAKER_00: That's an opportunity for us to look into hmm, why does this bother me?
14:47
SPEAKER_00: Am I holding on to old stories or beliefs that maybe don't serve me?
14:50
SPEAKER_00: What do I need to dig into?
14:52
SPEAKER_00: But yeah, that was super triggering for this person.
14:54
SPEAKER_00: It's like, of course, the past.
14:55
SPEAKER_00: I have all these great memories.
14:57
SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying you don't have great memories, but why are we focusing on the past and on the future?
15:03
SPEAKER_00: Usually it's negative, right?
15:05
SPEAKER_00: There is nothing wrong, and this is what I said there is nothing wrong with thinking back to those wonderful memories.
15:11
SPEAKER_00: We all do that by all means.
15:12
SPEAKER_00: I think about stuff, but most people aren't sitting in those emotions.
15:17
SPEAKER_00: They're thinking about, oh, I could have done this different in the past, and this could have been better, and oh, this thing happened to me.
15:23
SPEAKER_00: Or they're living in the future of oh my gosh, what's gonna happen five, ten years from now?
15:28
SPEAKER_00: What's the world gonna look like?
15:29
SPEAKER_00: Finances, oh my gosh, what's happening versus I will be happy when I will peace, I'll be peaceful when.
15:36
SPEAKER_00: Versus now.
15:37
SPEAKER_00: Now is what exists.
15:38
SPEAKER_01: We we can't change any of these.
15:40
SPEAKER_01: And then I mean, let's not forget that you and I probably used to get triggered, and not probably used to, you know, about you, used to get triggered by these.
15:48
SPEAKER_01: Um, because I remember when I read The Power of Now, that's before I even met you by Eckhart Tolet, because I started to get into the the journey like in 2018, 2017.
15:58
SPEAKER_01: I really didn't understand that book.
16:00
SPEAKER_01: I was like, You're crazy.
16:01
SPEAKER_01: What do you mean, illusion?
16:02
SPEAKER_01: What do you mean this?
16:03
SPEAKER_01: What do you mean it doesn't exist?
16:05
SPEAKER_01: Like, I was just like, even though I mean I read it, don't get me wrong, but I did not make any sense of it until you know I started the work and all of that.
16:13
SPEAKER_01: And this is when when I read this the other book, or uh practicing the power of now, I was like, Oh my goodness, it makes sense, but also because I was open as well.
16:24
SPEAKER_01: You know, if you keep closing yourself off for all of these misinterpretations or all of these experiences, you're not gonna learn something new, and and you do learn the best from your triggers.
16:35
SPEAKER_01: You can listen, I mean, you can listen to us, you can whatever, but seriously, and you can go to the people and and find the healing sessions and everything, but at the end of the day, it is the triggers that are teaching you.
16:47
SPEAKER_01: So learn from those, and they're free.
16:50
SPEAKER_00: They're coming to you all the time, right?
16:53
SPEAKER_00: Actually, I'm gonna use that as an example.
16:54
SPEAKER_00: I know we're not talking about triggers, but this it's it all ties together, right?
16:58
SPEAKER_00: But this might be a real world example of if you had told me that five years ago, I would have been like, What the hell are you talking about?
17:05
SPEAKER_00: My triggers are my lessons.
17:06
SPEAKER_00: So, giving you this example, had I made this same post five years ago and someone had come back and said, like, what do you mean?
17:14
SPEAKER_00: That exists, you're completely wrong, you're out of your mind, and messaged me and said, I don't agree with this, yada, yada, yada, I would have been hurt.
17:20
SPEAKER_00: I would have been like, Oh my gosh, I can't post anything controversial, it would have shut me down.
17:25
SPEAKER_00: Now it doesn't.
17:27
SPEAKER_00: And why is that?
17:28
SPEAKER_00: I've learned because when I would get triggered from someone responding that way to me, right?
17:33
SPEAKER_00: Someone else's trigger then became my trigger.
17:35
SPEAKER_00: What did I make that mean?
17:37
SPEAKER_00: I have to please others, I'm not good enough.
17:41
SPEAKER_00: I have to be, I must not know my stuff.
17:44
SPEAKER_00: I've got to learn more.
17:45
SPEAKER_00: Like there were so many stories.
17:47
SPEAKER_00: I must be perfect.
17:48
SPEAKER_01: Yes, like it has to be so perfect, I have to check it 500 times.
17:52
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
17:52
SPEAKER_00: Or a typo.
17:53
SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
17:54
SPEAKER_00: Now, and you used to say that to me, like it doesn't need to be perfect.
17:57
SPEAKER_00: And now the funny thing is, is it's like the you know, you get tested still.
18:01
SPEAKER_00: I'll get people that message me and say, Hey, there's a typo in your post.
18:05
SPEAKER_00: And in the past, I would have been like, Oh my gosh, let me go change it.
18:07
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, Great, shows I'm human, shows it wasn't AI written.
18:11
SPEAKER_00: Like exactly, you know, so so it's there's it's it's all written, right?
18:18
SPEAKER_00: It's all interpretation, but what can you do?
18:20
SPEAKER_00: Like it goes back to the triggers too.
18:22
SPEAKER_00: I know it seems like we're going off topic, but we're not.
18:24
SPEAKER_00: I mean, we can talk about triggers because we've talked about them before.
18:27
SPEAKER_00: We have, but it ties in with that.
18:29
SPEAKER_01: But I think I feel like sometimes just like all of our topics tie in together and they're all reminders because we forget.
18:36
SPEAKER_01: We forget.
18:36
SPEAKER_01: You listen to the pet that this episode, and then you go about your day and you forget, and then sometimes you listen to us again.
18:42
SPEAKER_01: You're like, Oh, I know I heard you before, but now it's making more sense.
18:45
SPEAKER_01: It's kind of like the book that you read a few times, and then you miss a whole lot of things, you know, that you're like, wait a minute, was that the same book?
18:54
SPEAKER_01: Was that the same movie?
18:55
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so it's just you're just not ready.
18:58
SPEAKER_01: You're not ready.
18:59
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what is it?
19:00
SPEAKER_01: What did they say?
19:00
SPEAKER_01: When the dance ready is ready, the teacher appears.
19:04
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so same thing with you and me, you know what I mean?
19:07
SPEAKER_01: Whatever we were ready for in 2018 appeared, 19, 20, 21, and now you know, we're even taking it more and more and more, and it's never ending, it is never ending, it's never ending, but truly, truly, truly, I mean, from experience, because I used to wish, I used to wish to like experience all these things and the synchronicities and me observing the triggers and not fall into them.
19:29
SPEAKER_01: I used to like wish, and now it's happening.
19:33
SPEAKER_01: Does it happen all the time?
19:34
SPEAKER_01: No, we're human, we're human, but it is really, really awesome when you turn that volume up on your awareness.
19:42
SPEAKER_01: It is beautiful, it is beautiful.
19:44
SPEAKER_01: You see, like I had a situation happen with me last night, and I whoa, like I just saw it from the outside as I'm watching a movie.
19:52
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, but that used to be my life, yeah, for years.
19:57
SPEAKER_01: And I didn't see it while I was in there, but then when I was here and still was doing the work, and nothing happens without doing the work, nothing happens without the pain and without the pain that you feel.
20:06
SPEAKER_01: And I'm not saying like you being on the floor and like oh, you know, because I used to read these books, like the awakening happened when I was on the floor, drunk or whatever, and you know, whatever this, and I was like, it doesn't happen to me, but it happened in a different pain, right?
20:24
SPEAKER_01: So your pain also don't don't you know it's your pain is different, but it's just it's all of those lessons, and they're free and they keep coming, and you keep repeating them if you're not gonna learn.
20:35
SPEAKER_01: And I have to say something, sorry, I know I talk too much, but I have you know it's helping me a lot, and I don't know where I heard it, either Kathy or David, I really don't remember, or someone else.
20:46
SPEAKER_01: No, I think someone else on Instagram, but it's a spirituality, and it says, all of these people are your soul disguised differently.
20:55
SPEAKER_01: So that's what helps me sometimes thinking about it.
20:58
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, hmm, you're part of my soul, because remember, we're one, and I never understood what that one means.
21:03
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and and then when that person explained it, they're all you, but different experiences, different bodies, different avatars.
21:10
SPEAKER_01: And I was like, huh, you're my soul, but disguised differently, so I can learn.
21:15
SPEAKER_01: So now instead of getting upset at that person, I'm like, okay, what do you have to teach me?
21:21
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I love that because it's so true.
21:24
SPEAKER_00: We can keep getting re-triggered by the same people or same experiences.
21:27
SPEAKER_00: It's like, okay, well, what are you gonna do with that then?
21:30
SPEAKER_00: You you are supposed to be learning from it so that it doesn't continue to happen.
21:34
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
21:35
SPEAKER_00: And one thing I want to say about the interpretations too is some might say, because when I first heard it, I was like, so you want me to lie to myself?
21:44
SPEAKER_00: You want me to tell myself that they didn't say it that way or whatever.
21:49
SPEAKER_00: I get it now, and yes, to some extent, there's nothing wrong with that.
21:53
SPEAKER_00: I want to live a life that is peaceful, happy, I feel in flow.
21:59
SPEAKER_00: Love, right?
22:00
SPEAKER_00: Loving other people.
22:02
SPEAKER_00: So this is not about saying, I'm just here to make myself happy, screw everybody else on the planet.
22:06
SPEAKER_00: That's not it at all.
22:08
SPEAKER_00: In fact, the more I go on this healing journey, the more loving of a person I become.
22:12
SPEAKER_01: Maybe my husband will disagree, but um, you know, I'm gonna see him on the fourth, we'll see about that.
22:19
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right.
22:20
SPEAKER_00: But I just it it changes you, but the happiness piece, right?
22:25
SPEAKER_00: If we look around and see how many people are truly unhappy, okay, if you would start to change your interpretations, it can make you so much happier.
22:35
SPEAKER_00: Because again, you can be going through something, someone says something to you, you um again in traffic, somebody spills your coffee, like it doesn't matter, you get cut off in traffic, you can get super annoyed, pissed off, whatever, or you can say, you know what, I'm gonna choose a different interpretation.
22:55
SPEAKER_00: Because here's the thing it's all interpretation, anyhow.
22:58
SPEAKER_00: You don't know for a hundred percent how someone was feeling in that moment.
23:02
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
23:03
SPEAKER_00: Maybe they're rushing to go to the hospital, or that's the doctor, or that's what I was saying.
23:07
SPEAKER_01: This helped me a lot.
23:08
SPEAKER_01: I saw I saw it on Instagram.
23:10
SPEAKER_01: He's like, he's like, just think they have to go poo-poo so bad.
23:12
SPEAKER_00: Well, and see that that was gonna that was not my example, but similar of like somebody cuts you off in traffic, right?
23:19
SPEAKER_00: Your knee-jerk reaction is what an asshole.
23:21
SPEAKER_00: Or, you know, they're late to work, that's your fault for not getting up early.
23:25
SPEAKER_00: Okay, keep going with your interpretations until it's something that serves you.
23:28
SPEAKER_00: Like, what if his wife is in labor?
23:31
SPEAKER_00: What if she's at the hospital and he wants to get there, right?
23:34
SPEAKER_00: Like, who cares?
23:36
SPEAKER_00: What if he has to go get his uh his child of special needs from school?
23:40
SPEAKER_00: Like, you know what I mean?
23:41
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, who cares?
23:43
SPEAKER_00: That is going to serve you better because you're gonna go, oh gosh, okay, that's rough, and you're gonna move on versus what an ass, and then you're getting mad at the next person, and then you're yelling at your kid.
23:53
SPEAKER_00: Well, because then you're doing this ripple effect, exactly, exactly.
23:57
SPEAKER_00: So I'm saying choose the interpretation that works for you because it's all interpretation, regardless.
24:04
SPEAKER_01: That works for you and for the emotions that you want to feel, because it's based on that, right?
24:09
SPEAKER_01: So if you want to, if you want to live in a negative and uh negative life and you want to be unhappy, and the emotions that you want to feel are you know despair, depression, all that stuff, by all means and interpret that.
24:22
SPEAKER_01: But if you want to be happy, joyful, peaceful, etc., then you gotta start choosing different interpretations because your emotions matter, right?
24:31
SPEAKER_01: So, for example, my main thing is to feel freedom and peace and and happiness, right?
24:39
SPEAKER_01: So, whenever I get a text message from somebody, you know, I can choose to let that disrupt my emotions or be like, you know what, my priority is peace, etc.
24:50
SPEAKER_01: etc.
24:51
SPEAKER_01: I know where I stand, I say what I say, you can interpret it however you want to, whoever it is, right?
24:57
SPEAKER_01: So I think the listeners know who I'm talking about, but you know.
25:00
SPEAKER_01: Um, but anyway, so it's it's because you know, like it's always, oh, I'll be because you touch base on so many people that are unhappy, absolutely, because look at how many prescribed um antidepressants we have in this country, yeah, or in this in the world, or how many, maybe I don't know how many medications we have about a lot.
25:17
SPEAKER_00: Well, I think the average American's on like three or five or something crazy.
25:20
SPEAKER_01: There we go, right?
25:21
SPEAKER_01: Why?
25:21
SPEAKER_01: Because we are choosing we're choosing not to live with in the emotions of peace, and I'm not saying, oh, we're gonna be in la la land, we're gonna be joyful all the time.
25:29
SPEAKER_01: No, you can be in pain, you can be because my situation is not easy.
25:33
SPEAKER_01: I'm in in pain, but I'm choosing peace, I'm choosing happiness, I'm choosing, I'm not choosing denial, I'm choosing to let all the stupid shit go because my peace matters, right?
25:46
SPEAKER_01: So, um, so you create those emotions now instead of saying, Well, I'll be happy when I lose the weight, I'll be uh free when I have the money, or I'll be whatever when I have this career, create those emotions now by choosing the interpretations that you want to choose that align those emotions that you want to feel now, and then everything else will have the ripple effect.
26:10
SPEAKER_01: But, and that's again another go goes back to the choice.
26:13
SPEAKER_00: It is, and that's the thing, there is no wrong interpretation.
26:16
SPEAKER_00: So, even the situation we talked about with me on social media, I was like, Yeah, she's misinterpreting me, but in reality, that's her her her interpretation.
26:25
SPEAKER_00: There's no right or wrong, you're choosing to view it that way, I'm choosing to say it this way, and if we're seeing different, that's fine, but I'm always gonna choose the interpretation that works for me.
26:36
SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes, that works for me, yeah, and my priorities.
26:41
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so be thinking about that as you go throughout your day of everything, right?
26:46
SPEAKER_00: Again, you are a meaning-making machine.
26:48
SPEAKER_00: So look around.
26:49
SPEAKER_00: What meanings are you making?
26:50
SPEAKER_00: What interpretations are you making?
26:52
SPEAKER_00: Are they serving you or are they not?
26:54
SPEAKER_00: And can you change that interpretation to something else?
26:58
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and sit down with yourself and or maybe not, or walk with yourself and evaluate what emotions, what feelings you want to have, what are you know what I mean?
27:10
SPEAKER_01: And those will definitely help guide your interpretations because if you have an anger, if you have a guide, it will help you better because you can be in the tough situations where you can start yelling at the person, cussing them, what you know, doing traffic, let's say, or someone cuts you off.
27:26
SPEAKER_01: But what when you remember, wait a minute, wait a minute, I want to be more peaceful, then you can shift that, right?
27:34
SPEAKER_01: And that is where the growth happens.
27:36
SPEAKER_01: So I would definitely say either sit with yourself, journal, or start walking and talking, and you know, anchor the at least three, four emotions that you want to live by, you want to attract more of whatever they are joy, happiness, excitement, love of life, freedom, peace, whatever they are, and you know, keep them, whether write them or put them on your notes, or and then remind yourself every single time I want to be peaceful.
28:04
SPEAKER_01: Is this situation helping me, helping me with my cause?
28:08
SPEAKER_01: No, it's not.
28:09
SPEAKER_01: So let me interpret it differently, right?
28:11
SPEAKER_01: And that's I think that's a that's an action step that you can do um to bring more uh of the the feelings that you want, because I can't tell you what emotions you want, right?
28:23
SPEAKER_01: I know what I want and and you you want what you want, and they're not just gonna happen like that, right?
28:29
SPEAKER_01: Being happy truly, truly, truly, and being peaceful and free and all that is this does not happen by coincidence, it happens when you put in the work and when you are intentional with your life, because remember, you are co-creator with God, not just you know, uh walking unconsciously blind.
28:49
SPEAKER_01: So work with him.
28:50
SPEAKER_01: I tell my daughter all the time because she's like, Well, I'm praying this, this, and this.
28:53
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, Well, you gotta also put in, you gotta uh you gotta meet meet God halfway, okay.
28:59
SPEAKER_01: Meet the divine halfway, not just be like, I'm a couch potato, I'm a couch potato, but help me lose weight.
29:05
SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, I'm eating chips and bonbons all day, help me lose weight.
29:10
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
29:11
SPEAKER_00: I also just want to say as a reminder, you're not gonna nail this every time.
29:16
SPEAKER_00: Okay, so we are human.
29:18
SPEAKER_00: I don't care how far you get on your healing journey.
29:20
SPEAKER_00: Maybe the Dalai Lama and some others, you know, some monks and stuff are good, but like we I'm sure they still experience that, and maybe they do, and that's my point is like give yourself grace, you're gonna explode, you're gonna make interpretations that don't serve you.
29:34
SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
29:35
SPEAKER_00: Like we always say, it is a practice.
29:38
SPEAKER_00: This is a practice absolutely.
29:41
SPEAKER_01: All right, we gave you action steps, we gave you a lot to think about and ponder, and then hopefully you're listening on this on a walk, so it's kind of helps.
29:50
SPEAKER_01: Tonisa's like, go take a walk.
29:51
SPEAKER_01: Take a walk.
29:52
SPEAKER_01: I love walking, I do too.
29:53
SPEAKER_01: Um, and we're just gonna end, like usual, with a few breaths and a mantra.
29:59
SPEAKER_01: So we're gonna take.
30:00
SPEAKER_01: In four, hold four, and then release for six.
30:03
SPEAKER_01: I'll guide you through through that if you are, if you can, of course, close your eyes if you can't just breathe without closing your eyes.
30:11
SPEAKER_01: Okay, let's let's go.
30:13
SPEAKER_01: We're gonna breathe in for four, hold for four, and then exhale for six.
30:22
SPEAKER_01: I guide you through one more, and then while we're saying, meaning is what I make it, and I choose peace.
30:29
SPEAKER_01: We're inhaling for four, two, three, four, holding, two, three, four, exhaling, two, three, four, five, six.
30:44
SPEAKER_01: Meaning is what I make it, and I choose peace.
30:48
SPEAKER_00: Amen to that.
30:50
SPEAKER_00: All right, guys.
30:50
SPEAKER_00: Yep, you know the drill.
30:52
SPEAKER_00: Leave us a review, share it with a friend.
30:54
SPEAKER_00: We see it every week.
30:55
SPEAKER_00: I'm like cheering, like, whoa, we're growing.
30:57
SPEAKER_00: More people are listening to every episode, which we love.
31:00
SPEAKER_00: So help us serve others.
31:01
SPEAKER_00: Share it with someone who needs to hear it.
31:04
SPEAKER_00: Um, whatever you can.
31:06
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and share at least with someone who needs to hear that.
31:08
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
31:09
SPEAKER_00: For sure.
31:09
SPEAKER_00: Thanks, guys.
31:10
SPEAKER_00: We'll see you on the next episode.
