Bravery of captain and passengers on FlyDubai flight prevents tragedy
On October 3, 2026, the United Arab Emirates Prosecutor General officially announced that the incident was an attempted terrorist act. The co-pilot, identified as 29-year-old Omani national Hamam al-Hammami, used a cockpit emergency crash axe to attack the pilot in an intentional bid to seize the flight controls and crash the aircraft. The Boeing 737, carrying 174 people from Dubai to Tel Aviv, was sent into a terrifying, rapid plunge—dropping roughly 14,000 to 17,000 feet in under two minutes.
