- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And on this hypnosis session
- 0:44that you're just about to listen to, you're going to be listening
- 0:46to a session created about emotional triggers.
- 0:50And I was working with a. Client that had.
- 0:54Just recently done something where they were presenting to an
- 0:58audience and they had a workshop they were doing and they got
- 1:01some criticism, but the criticism that they.
- 1:04Had received was. From one person that only saw a
- 1:09small element. Of.
- 1:11What had actually happened and all the rest of the feedback was
- 1:14really. Positive.
- 1:16But this client? Felt devastated.
- 1:18By this feedback. Because they were.
- 1:21Giving too much value to this one bit of feedback, this one
- 1:25bit of criticism, So what? You're gonna hear.
- 1:28In this particular session is a way of gaining perspective if.
- 1:34There is disrespect or. Criticism or something rude, a
- 1:39way of responding rather than reacting to actually have the
- 1:43ability to choose how and even if you respond to a situation
- 1:50and it wasn't just this specific thing, this was a microcosm of
- 1:54what was happening in their life.
- 1:56And there's a few metaphors here.
- 1:57There's a metaphor of binoculars.
- 2:00If you imagine just the incredible landscape, but with
- 2:03the binoculars, you hone in on a tiny thing that's either boring
- 2:06or unpleasant. You or mind could assume that
- 2:09everything is boring or unpleasant when in fact you're
- 2:12focusing on a tiny thing, not the big picture.
- 2:16And then there's another element of using photography in a giant
- 2:18photo to come up with a similar kind of message.
- 2:21Because what we wanted this client to really get a sense of
- 2:25is the fact that by zoning out and zooming out.
- 2:29They're able to see. A lower level of importance, and
- 2:34in psychology we call this catastrophization, where people
- 2:38make something small a really big part.
- 2:41And some people do this with events that have happened in
- 2:44their life, so this one bad or embarrassing thing happens, and
- 2:48then that almost defines them. They ruminate over that thing
- 2:51rather than zooming out and looking at the big picture.
- 2:55And generally that's a more helpful way of doing it.
- 2:59But there's also metaphors about how to deal with provocation or
- 3:03what can feel like provocation. So there's a bit going on in
- 3:06this session. If you like the idea of working
- 3:10with me directly, there will be a link in the descripcion where
- 3:13you can schedule a free consultation call.
- 3:15For now, though, find a quiet, comfortable lace where you won't
- 3:18be. Disturbed, relax and.
- 3:21Enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 4:04you breathe in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and
- 4:10relaxation. And as you exhale, just allow
- 4:16your eyelids to close. That's it.
- 4:19And notice with your eyes closed just how much easier it is to
- 4:29allow you to focus on the sound of my words as you continue to
- 4:37breathe in that relaxation and exhale feelings of any stress,
- 4:44worry or tension as you consider this an emotional transfusion,
- 4:54breathing in what you need and exhaling echoes of intense
- 5:02feelings. That may not.
- 5:03Be useful for you right now. Allow the echoes to do what
- 5:09echoes do perfectly naturally. Fade away.
- 5:16That's it. And scan your body for any clues
- 5:19of tension, stress or worries, maybe around your forehead, your
- 5:26jaw, your neck or your shoulders.
- 5:30Sometimes sensations like anxiety and worry can be there
- 5:35in the gut. But as you breathe in then
- 5:41resourceful feeling of relaxation, feel any of those
- 5:46sensations start to melt away. Continuing to breathe deeper,
- 6:02exhale for longer. And as your mind tunes in and
- 6:08tunes out the sound of my voice, you may begin to wonder with
- 6:16your left hand feels heavier than your right.
- 6:20Or perhaps your right hand feels warmer than the left.
- 6:26Or maybe you've already drifted into a space where none of that
- 6:33really matters. Because your mind can wander
- 6:37now. It can wander and it can wander
- 6:43like a feather floating down a quiet stream.
- 6:49And maybe you can notice your breath as it slows and deepens,
- 6:54inhaling calm and and releasing anything as you exhale with that
- 7:01long outward breath. And with every sound you hear
- 7:12and every breath you take, maybe you find yourself sinking deeper
- 7:19and deeper into deep relaxation. Just like those times when
- 7:26you've gently lowered yourself into warm, relaxing water.
- 7:32The kind that. Makes it.
- 7:34Super easy to relax deeply, the kind that supports you
- 7:40completely and nothing needs to be done except to allow it.
- 7:50And as your body relaxes, your mind opens, ready to receive new
- 7:57perspectives, new insights, new levels of resilience.
- 8:08I want you to imagine being on board a boat, surrounded by
- 8:17incredible natural beauty. And I want you to imagine
- 8:29someone hands you a pair of binoculars.
- 8:33Imagine staring into those binoculars and seeing a tiny
- 8:41part of that incredible view. And maybe you see something
- 8:48dull, mundane, or even disgusting, but if you were to
- 8:53just focus on that thing and nothing else, you could come to
- 9:02the conclusion that you're not in a place of beauty, you're in
- 9:09a place of boredom or disgust. And I wonder if every now and
- 9:17then in your life, your mind takes you to that nought point,
- 9:24nought 1% of what's happening in your reality and making that
- 9:29small thing big. So it feels devastating when
- 9:36it's just a tiny, tiny part of what's really going on.
- 9:44So imagine putting the binoculars down and seeing all
- 9:49of that incredible natural beauty.
- 9:53So much so that that boring, mundane or disgusting thing
- 9:58can't even be seen. Now the thing that you could
- 10:04only see when you hyper focus on that thing is invisible when you
- 10:11see things for how they really are.
- 10:16And imagine somewhere on that boat is a staircase taking you
- 10:22down to the lower decks. I want you to imagine standing
- 10:27at the top of that staircase, knowing that each step down
- 10:32takes you deeper within. And let's walk down that
- 10:36staircase now. 10 feeling safe, 9 letting go, 8 more relaxed.
- 10:48That's it. Seven more grounded, 6 breathing
- 10:55and relaxation, exhaling tension 5 halfway down now, 4 feeling
- 11:03peaceful, 3 deeper and two deeper, and one deeply relaxed,
- 11:11deeply open. And instead of being in the
- 11:19lower part of a boat, I want you to imagine yourself in a large
- 11:26hall with large walls. And I want you to imagine, in
- 11:33this calm space, you imagine that one of those giant walls of
- 11:40the hall is a photograph, enormous, as tall as a house,
- 11:48stretching from one side of the wall all the way to the ceiling,
- 11:53the floor, and then the other wall.
- 11:57And maybe it's a stunning landscape, maybe a beach or a
- 12:03field of wildflowers, a picture so breathtaking you could get
- 12:11lost in its beauty. But I want you to imagine
- 12:16walking close to the wall and see something small, perhaps no
- 12:23bigger than a coin, A tiny imperfection, A smudge, A speck,
- 12:32maybe something unpleasant or unprofessional.
- 12:42But this is a tiny part of this big picture.
- 12:47Such a tiny part of a huge picture.
- 12:56The only way you could evaluate that this picture is not
- 13:01incredible is to only look at the tiny part that isn't.
- 13:11I want you to get a sense of feeling proud of all your
- 13:18progress. Progress of awareness, new
- 13:23patterns, new observations. Congratulate yourself every time
- 13:29you take a breath. You choose to respond rather
- 13:34than react, rather than dwelling on the tiny things, then give
- 13:43you a different meaning. I want you to imagine that your
- 13:50life is like that giant picture. Yes, there are moments of
- 13:56discomfort, embarrassment, criticism or pain.
- 14:03These are specks, tiny smudges in the canvas of something
- 14:12incredible. And as you think back to these
- 14:16last few months, these specs and smudges are becoming less and
- 14:24less frequent. A moment does not define you,
- 14:31mistake does not ruin you, and a comment does not control you
- 14:39because you are learning now to zoom out, to take in the whole
- 14:45picture. Remember your worth, your
- 14:48strength, your progress. And just like that skilled
- 14:54photographer, you begin to frame things differently.
- 15:01If there's criticism, even if it's fair, instead of reacting,
- 15:10you pause, You breathe. You start to evaluate it from
- 15:15different perspectives. Is this about me or about them?
- 15:26Are they Nuggets of gold in the sludge of this feedback?
- 15:34Give yourself time and space. You take pride in responding
- 15:41instead of reacting. And if every now and then you do
- 15:48react in a way that with hindsight you'd have preferred
- 15:52not to, that's also OK too. Because even then you grow, you
- 16:02reflect, learn, adjust, replay that moment until it's exactly
- 16:09as you would have wanted it to have been.
- 16:13So you are priming yourself. Each time the set back becomes a
- 16:19springboard forward, they handle the next situation better than
- 16:26before. You are becoming more and more
- 16:37resilient, more aware of your progress.
- 16:44Instead of fixating on what isn't perfect yet, you're
- 16:49appreciating just how far you've come.
- 16:55Imagine you're back on the deck of that boat, looking out at the
- 17:01oceans, and I want you to imagine your emotions as waves
- 17:07on that ocean. And maybe in the past there was
- 17:14no waves, and then a tidal wave, Nothing.
- 17:19And then something extreme and destructive crashing down.
- 17:25Like those big tidal waves, affecting you, affecting others,
- 17:31damaging friendships, relationships.
- 17:35But see the waves changing. Now the waves become smaller,
- 17:43gentler, manageable. Your future is not the absence
- 17:50of waves, it's just more waves of your choosing, more waves
- 17:57that are easier to manage. That instead of being knocked
- 18:04over by the waves, you ride the waves, bobbing up and down.
- 18:12Imagine how good it would feel too ride those waves with
- 18:17balance. The goal is not to avoid the
- 18:21ocean, but just to ride those waves.
- 18:28And every experience becomes part of your training, your
- 18:35strength, where the stronger you become, the smaller those waves
- 18:42feel. In the past, a wave of criticism
- 18:47would have knocked you over, or you would have responded with an
- 18:52even bigger wave yourself. But the waves get smaller and
- 18:58smaller, and you choose to respond, not be triggered and
- 19:05not react. There's you more and more,
- 19:10becoming the calm in the storm, centred in the chaos and strong
- 19:18in the face of challenge. So as you look out to those
- 19:25waves, I want you to imagine a future version of you.
- 19:33See yourself in the kind of situations that in the past
- 19:38would have felt like provocation, triggered a
- 19:44reaction of anger or storming away.
- 19:50But this time, see yourself with new ones.
- 19:55Perspective, curiosity, or pragmatism.
- 20:02See yourself handling situations with more calm and clarity.
- 20:09Purposeful communication Not. Emotional communication.
- 20:17And as you see yourself, maybe you notice how quickly you
- 20:20recover, how wise you've become proud of your progress and
- 20:29noticing the beauty of the big picture.
- 20:34So that even when something unpleasant, annoying, rude or
- 20:41disrespectful APP happens or occurs, you smile because you
- 20:47remember this is just one speck, 1 smudge in a life that is vast,
- 20:58meaningful and truly beautiful. See those calm, manageable waves
- 21:10and realise that the binoculars can focus on something
- 21:18undesirable or desirable. You can zoom out and see the
- 21:23whole picture. With this perspective,
- 21:28resilience and patience, you will notice more and more the
- 21:36progress you're making and even sandbags simply make you even
- 21:43more wiser. It's time to return from this
- 21:48boat within your imagination. So take a deep breath in through
- 21:53your nose and out through your nose.
- 22:00Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes that say
- 22:02connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 22:08from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you starting to count 123 waking up
- 22:17456 more alert 7 eights. Open your eyes.
- 22:22Open your eyes 910 Wide awake, Wide awake.
