- 1:12Speaker 3: my friend, I have one lined up for you. Instead
- 1:15Speaker 3: of the usual money tea, we are going to dive
- 1:17Speaker 3: into something even juicier. So welcome back to another one
- 1:20Speaker 3: of our investing diaries that is brought to you by
- 1:23Speaker 3: our friends at sky Wealth, where I'm going to get
- 1:25Speaker 3: to talk to one of our incredible Shees on the
- 1:27Speaker 3: Money community members all about her investing journey. Let's jump
- 1:31Speaker 3: straight into it, because this week I got a message
- 1:33Speaker 3: and it sounded exactly like this high Shees on the Money.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I am super keen on investing and have been through
- 1:39Speaker 3: the ring up with my investing strategy for the last
- 1:41Speaker 3: four years. I've done the following. I've bought and held
- 1:44Speaker 3: blue chip stocks. I've learned from other people's mindsets of
- 1:47Speaker 3: greed and scarcity and started trying to time the market unsuccessfully.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I've moved into buying and holding ETFs and bought the
- 1:55Speaker 3: top five best performing Australian ETFs and then I realize
- 1:59Speaker 3: that they all have the same companies in them. And
- 2:02Speaker 3: then I also have a current strategy of consistently investing
- 2:05Speaker 3: in the ASX two hundred and the Nasdak. There's lots
- 2:08Speaker 3: of lessons that I've learned along the way. I've also
- 2:11Speaker 3: just started contributing to the first Home Super Safer scheme.
- 2:14Speaker 3: I would also love to chat about your investing masterclass,
- 2:16Speaker 3: as I'm currently deciding whether to move from CMC, where
- 2:19Speaker 3: I have no feast chares is based on all the
- 2:22Speaker 3: info that I have available to me. Let's talk money. Diarist,
- 2:26Speaker 3: are welcome or Investing Diarist, Welcome to the show.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Thanks for having me. Very excited to be here.
- 2:32Speaker 3: When I read your four dot points the way I cackled,
- 2:35Speaker 3: the way I loved I promised, I was just like
- 2:38Speaker 3: sitting there being like, oh, she's a girl's girl, Like
- 2:41Speaker 3: you're just trying your best. And then you've bought ETFs
- 2:44Speaker 3: and then realized they're all the same. How annoying is that?
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 2:47Speaker 4: I was like thinking, No, I read into them and
- 2:50Speaker 4: I was like, oh, they all sound really good. Somewhere
- 2:52Speaker 4: about tech something was like top one hundred US starts.
- 2:56Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, so they're all different, how good.
- 2:59Speaker 4: I actually listen to one of your podcasts that was
- 3:02Speaker 4: about like making sure you're not paying fees. Are the
- 3:05Speaker 4: same things? And I was like, oh, I need to
- 3:07Speaker 4: look into that next minute. I've got four of the
- 3:10Speaker 4: same one, so amazing.
- 3:13Speaker 3: You know what, that's part of the journey, and you
- 3:16Speaker 3: know what, you haven't tapped out. So I'm super proud
- 3:18Speaker 3: of you. Thanks, let's get into it. But the first
- 3:21Speaker 3: question I ask on money and investing diaries, I want
- 3:23Speaker 3: to know if I asked you to give yourself a
- 3:25Speaker 3: money grade from A through to F, what grade would
- 3:27Speaker 3: you give yourself A B or B plus?
- 3:30Speaker 5: Oh?
- 3:30Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, lots to learn still, but have definitely come
- 3:35Speaker 4: a long way over the last five years.
- 3:37Speaker 3: All right, So tell me a bit more about your
- 3:40Speaker 3: money slash investing journey. Where did it start, what did
- 3:43Speaker 3: it look like, and what does it look like now?
- 3:45Speaker 4: Probably investing journey for that it's probably more exciting to
- 3:48Speaker 4: talk about. Essentially, at twenty one, my parents gave me
- 3:53Speaker 4: my siblings ten k to help start the investing journey.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Oh, very cool, thanks Mom and Duck.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Yeah, it was a nice twenty first present. Not money
- 4:02Speaker 4: that I ever really have seen. Like, it's gone straight
- 4:05Speaker 4: into the sheer market, which is exciting.
- 4:07Speaker 3: So you have seen it, we know where it is,
- 4:09Speaker 3: and she's growing, she's plodding along she's doing her work.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Yes, absolutely, so, I guess that started the journey of investing,
- 4:18Speaker 4: and I had didn't even know much about it prior
- 4:21Speaker 4: to that.
- 4:21Speaker 3: When your parents gave you ten grand obviously money, win,
- 4:24Speaker 3: thank you. But is this because your parents are big
- 4:27Speaker 3: investors themselves? Is it because they have done that for
- 4:30Speaker 3: all of your siblings or is it because you know,
- 4:32Speaker 3: you had shown an interest in being like really want
- 4:34Speaker 3: to invest and they're like, we're going to get behind you.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Like what did that look like?
- 4:38Speaker 4: Yeah, it's something that they had planned to help me
- 4:41Speaker 4: and my sisters do once we hit twenty one, So
- 4:44Speaker 4: that was their sort of gift to help us, I
- 4:47Speaker 4: guess try to get ahead at a younger age. And
- 4:50Speaker 4: that sort of stemmed from mainly my dad learning about investing,
- 4:54Speaker 4: probably at the age of like forty five or fifty,
- 4:56Speaker 4: so he's still pretty new to the whole space. Cool
- 5:00Speaker 4: from a farming family, so sometimes shares are a great
- 5:03Speaker 4: way to still have cash available, But wasn't the biggest
- 5:06Speaker 4: goal for my parents initially.
- 5:09Speaker 2: They wanted to grow the property rather than I guess
- 5:11Speaker 2: put it into the share market.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's so fair and farming's rough just because
- 5:16Speaker 3: the income is so inconsistent and you can have a
- 5:18Speaker 3: really good season and the next season might not be
- 5:20Speaker 3: the same. So you do actually have to hoard a
- 5:22Speaker 3: fair bit of cash because you might have to like
- 5:24Speaker 3: literally carry over for a whole year, or even more
- 5:27Speaker 3: if there's a drought. Like I don't know what your
- 5:29Speaker 3: family farm's in, but it can be really chaotic.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Absolutely, So they sort of started in the investing world
- 5:35Speaker 4: a bit later in life, but saw the benefit and
- 5:39Speaker 4: thought let's get the daughters involved a lot earlier.
- 5:42Speaker 3: So money Diarist, tell me a little bit more before
- 5:44Speaker 3: we dive into the nitty gritty of investing. What do
- 5:47Speaker 3: you currently do for work and how much money do
- 5:49Speaker 3: you earn.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I am currently in my first big girl job after UNI,
- 5:54Speaker 2: So first big girl job.
- 5:57Speaker 3: I love how we are genuinely smart women and we
- 6:00Speaker 3: still call it like I've got my big girl job, Like,
- 6:02Speaker 3: but we are genuinely smart human beings, but we all
- 6:05Speaker 3: still just are girls.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Like, I'm really proud of myself to have landed that
- 6:11Speaker 4: I work in financial services helping farmers.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Very cool.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm from kanger Island actually, so from the bottom
- 6:19Speaker 4: of South Australia, so a great network of farmers over here.
- 6:23Speaker 4: I own one hundred k with super so that was
- 6:27Speaker 4: a big goal of mine and really happy to tick.
- 6:29Speaker 2: That off initially. Oh nice, and I just started a
- 6:32Speaker 2: couple of months ago.
- 6:33Speaker 3: She got her six figures.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yeah, congrats.
- 6:36Speaker 3: That's so cool. And you didn't need me to tell
- 6:39Speaker 3: you how farming works and how it can be cyclical.
- 6:42Speaker 3: You already know that.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that.
- 6:45Speaker 3: And so you help farmers with their finances and stuff.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Does that you said you're in financial services? Is the
- 6:51Speaker 3: plan to become an advisor or just stay in your
- 6:53Speaker 3: role or like, what does.
- 6:54Speaker 2: That look like?
- 6:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I've just landed in this one. So it's a
- 6:58Speaker 4: new role within the business that I'm working with. So
- 7:01Speaker 4: I would love to do a really good job in
- 7:03Speaker 4: this role first, and that has been a big goal initially,
- 7:06Speaker 4: and it's just sort of ticked it off, so I
- 7:09Speaker 4: haven't fully looked at what's next.
- 7:11Speaker 3: That's cool. I love that and there are so many options.
- 7:13Speaker 3: So talk me through how you invest I feel like
- 7:17Speaker 3: you've landed and just been like, yeah, give me a
- 7:19Speaker 3: bit of everything, show me what that looks like. I'm
- 7:21Speaker 3: going to invest in blue chip. Actually no, I'm not
- 7:23Speaker 3: I'm going to invest in ETFs. Actually, I'm going to
- 7:25Speaker 3: invest in all the ETFs. Wait, that's probably not a
- 7:28Speaker 3: great idea. So tell me a little bit about how
- 7:31Speaker 3: you personally invest and how that journey has gone. How's
- 7:33Speaker 3: it felt.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, and it was a good way to describe it.
- 7:38Speaker 4: But still they're doing it, and I still have enjoyed
- 7:41Speaker 4: the process of learning. But yeah, initially got ten k
- 7:45Speaker 4: from my parents and they encouraged me to buy blue
- 7:49Speaker 4: chip stocks and just individual shares and ours and zed
- 7:53Speaker 4: Westpact the Woodside BHP sort of scenario.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Yeah, that's very boomer I like it.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it was on brand for them. I didn't really
- 8:01Speaker 2: know what I was doing, just like, yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, at least they're predictable. We love to
- 8:06Speaker 3: see it.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Yeah, And after that initial investment, I was dolo coost
- 8:11Speaker 4: averaging with my paycheck at the.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Time, so that was a win.
- 8:14Speaker 4: We didn't know that that was a good strategy at
- 8:16Speaker 4: the time because I went away from it later.
- 8:19Speaker 3: You were like, I actually only have this cash, so
- 8:22Speaker 3: I've just invested when I.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Get it pretty much.
- 8:24Speaker 4: But I actually did really well for the first couple
- 8:26Speaker 4: of years, and I think it was probably the timing
- 8:29Speaker 4: of the market. It was doing really well in like
- 8:32Speaker 4: was it twenty two, twenty twenty three in those sort
- 8:35Speaker 4: of shares.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Yeah, Like if I could invest in BDHG today, I would.
- 8:40Speaker 4: So I averaged seven point two five percent for those years,
- 8:44Speaker 4: which was great, fair enough.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll take that.
- 8:46Speaker 4: And then I went back into my final year of
- 8:49Speaker 4: UNI and had an economics lecturer sort of explained to me,
- 8:53Speaker 4: you know, fear and greed and how that impacts the
- 8:56Speaker 4: market and when people, you know, if it hits the
- 8:59Speaker 4: top of the market often want to hold onto their
- 9:01Speaker 4: cash and hold.
- 9:02Speaker 2: On to their investments, but it might actually be a
- 9:03Speaker 2: good time to sell.
- 9:05Speaker 4: And the opposite, when it's market might be crashing and
- 9:08Speaker 4: everyone wants to jump out, it actually might be a
- 9:10Speaker 4: good time to buy.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Absolutely, I thought I was all smart and started to
- 9:14Speaker 4: try to time the market.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Within these blue chin And how did that go? Yeah?
- 9:18Speaker 4: I think I got one point five to say return
- 9:22Speaker 4: for that year, So I probably learned my lesson pretty cood,
- 9:26Speaker 4: you know what.
- 9:26Speaker 3: That's better than a kick in the pants. Yeah, I mean,
- 9:29Speaker 3: she's not keeping up with inflation, but at least she's
- 9:31Speaker 3: not going absolutely backwards.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think the best part was like knowing
- 9:36Speaker 4: when to stop that strategy as well, like not sitting
- 9:39Speaker 4: there for so long that I just committed to it.
- 9:41Speaker 4: I was like, oh no, this is not working. Let's
- 9:43Speaker 4: do something different.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Yeah, And I'm actually really glad that if that's the
- 9:46Speaker 3: type of personality you've got to be like, oh no,
- 9:48Speaker 3: I could definitely give this a crack, which I've done
- 9:51Speaker 3: it too. Like what we want to do with that
- 9:54Speaker 3: is do it early and get it out of our
- 9:56Speaker 3: system so that then we go, actually, this is a
- 9:59Speaker 3: terrible idea movie forward. I'm just going to go into
- 10:01Speaker 3: what suits me a little bit better, because we all
- 10:04Speaker 3: I want to time the market too, Queen. Turns out
- 10:06Speaker 3: I can't know, but I prefer to be humbled early,
- 10:10Speaker 3: you know, when I'm playing with less money.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Yeah. Absolutely, I was happy to learn my lesson early on.
- 10:15Speaker 4: And I can say I've gone away from that strategy,
- 10:18Speaker 4: so that's good.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Yes, good.
- 10:21Speaker 4: And then twenty twenty five, I actually I think I
- 10:25Speaker 4: signed up to your ses on the Money email distribution
- 10:28Speaker 4: list and you guys sent out the top ten the ETFs.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Great idea, great idea, that's the best idea. They're that
- 10:35Speaker 3: I would absolutely recommend people join my news letter. I yap,
- 10:39Speaker 3: but I also give you good information about investing.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:42Speaker 4: So oh, I've already had a bit of interest in
- 10:44Speaker 4: ETFs through the podcast as well, like that's probably where
- 10:46Speaker 4: I do most of my learning. But yeah, this email
- 10:50Speaker 4: come out and I was like, top ten ETFs. Oh loved,
- 10:52Speaker 4: be awesome. I'll just pick a few from there.
- 10:55Speaker 3: And I go, no, you didn't listen at all.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Well I did and I didn't. So I picked four
- 11:03Speaker 4: out of that and that was ENDYQB. I think it's
- 11:07Speaker 4: the I one hundred, IVV and QOAL And do you
- 11:11Speaker 4: know what they all have in common?
- 11:12Speaker 3: They're all top ten holdings.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yeah, US stocks, US businesses. So yeah, nice.
- 11:20Speaker 3: So the once risk profile, Yeah, that's just a learning
- 11:23Speaker 3: and I feel like we've got to go through that.
- 11:25Speaker 3: And I mean it's not the end of the world. Yes,
- 11:27Speaker 3: you've probably wasted some money in fees, but that market
- 11:30Speaker 3: has done pretty well over the last little bit, so
- 11:32Speaker 3: you're probably not behind. You're probably just paying a little
- 11:35Speaker 3: bit more in fees and brokerage because you've like spread
- 11:38Speaker 3: it out across different options, right, Yeah.
- 11:41Speaker 4: And I feel like it got to a plant and
- 11:42Speaker 4: I was like, oh, I'm all over this, like this
- 11:44Speaker 4: is a great strategy, feeling really comfort and comfortable. And
- 11:48Speaker 4: I was like, oh, I listened to one of your
- 11:50Speaker 4: podcasts and it was like, you know, check what you
- 11:52Speaker 4: actually invested in, Like, and I hadn't really been checking
- 11:55Speaker 4: the top ten businesses within the ETF at all, wasn't
- 11:59Speaker 4: really doing and then went and did it and I
- 12:01Speaker 4: was like, oh oh, there was like ticks everywhere for
- 12:04Speaker 4: all of these four they.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Okay, just one will.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Do totally, and like I totally get that. But at
- 12:11Speaker 3: the same time, I'm like, you know what, I'm just
- 12:13Speaker 3: glad you're in the market, and I'm glad that we're
- 12:15Speaker 3: you know, working towards financial freedom and you're excited about it.
- 12:18Speaker 3: We can adjust the strategy.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, the strategy has been a continuous just totally.
- 12:25Speaker 3: So tell me a little bit more about these direct shares,
- 12:28Speaker 3: because you said, hey, I started with direct shares, you know,
- 12:31Speaker 3: really blue chip My parents guided me.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Here.
- 12:34Speaker 3: What happened to those shares? Like, do you still hold them?
- 12:37Speaker 1: No?
- 12:37Speaker 2: I did sell them all off.
- 12:39Speaker 4: I think started Sorry twenty five is when I went
- 12:42Speaker 4: into these ETFs instead, and like it was a really
- 12:47Speaker 4: mixed bag of results like A and.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Z was up thirteen percent.
- 12:51Speaker 4: The other good performers was BHP twenty two percent, Westpac
- 12:56Speaker 4: five So that might sound good, but then tells her
- 12:59Speaker 4: down fifteen percent, would sat down eight percent, So it's
- 13:04Speaker 4: like all averaged out, really yeah.
- 13:06Speaker 3: And it all comes out in the wash. Like That's
- 13:08Speaker 3: what I want people to really understand is that when
- 13:11Speaker 3: we are investing, you might go, oh, bitchp that was
- 13:14Speaker 3: a sick result, but that's going to come out in
- 13:16Speaker 3: the wash if something else isn't performing. And that's actually
- 13:19Speaker 3: why we have a diversified portfolio to make sure that
- 13:23Speaker 3: if something's up significantly and something's down, we actually get
- 13:26Speaker 3: the average of the market, which is why a lot
- 13:29Speaker 3: of our community prefer to invest in things like ETFs,
- 13:32Speaker 3: because you get a really nice basket that exists in
- 13:35Speaker 3: the market already, so that if something's up and something's down,
- 13:38Speaker 3: you just go, this is much easier to manage my
- 13:41Speaker 3: return consistently.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Yep. Absolutely did that feel yucky.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Trying to sell them all down, especially if things were
- 13:48Speaker 3: down and up and or were you're just excited to
- 13:50Speaker 3: clear it all out.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Oh, it's probably a mixed bag, like feeling like I
- 13:55Speaker 4: didn't quite nail it, which I'm someone who likes to
- 13:58Speaker 4: do things well if I'm doing them, a bit of that,
- 14:01Speaker 4: but then a few of them were like you know,
- 14:03Speaker 4: AMZERB and the HP were really good. Yeah, it was
- 14:06Speaker 4: sort of like a mixed bag of emotions, but probably
- 14:08Speaker 4: excited to go and try a different strategy.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Yeah. Fair.
- 14:13Speaker 3: And so tell me about your ETFs now, when you
- 14:16Speaker 3: started picking them, did you have a specific strategy in
- 14:20Speaker 3: mind or did you just go I just want some
- 14:23Speaker 3: ETFs or are you like, oh, because I think a
- 14:25Speaker 3: few times we've mentioned international, like you've mentioned the US market.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Did you really want exposure to the US and that's
- 14:32Speaker 3: why you picked those? Or like, what were your thought patterns?
- 14:35Speaker 4: Yeap, My main thought patterns was initially ecfs because they
- 14:39Speaker 4: are already diversified, like we've discussed, and then pretty much
- 14:43Speaker 4: to go after return. So I've got two ETFs. I've
- 14:47Speaker 4: got about fifteen K in each, and the A two
- 14:51Speaker 4: hundred is one of them, which is averaging if ivey
- 14:54Speaker 4: average of ten point one percent return, which I feel
- 14:57Speaker 4: like for me, that's a safer each on my behalf.
- 15:01Speaker 4: I can just feel comfortable with all those companies. It's
- 15:03Speaker 4: the top Australian companies pretty much.
- 15:06Speaker 2: So I felt really comfortable with that.
- 15:08Speaker 4: And I did keep one of those US ETFs, which
- 15:13Speaker 4: was NDQ, and I picked it based on it just
- 15:16Speaker 4: having a high five year average return of eighteen percent
- 15:20Speaker 4: compared to the others.
- 15:22Speaker 2: So that is my two ETFs.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Very cool. And what share or ETF? We said before,
- 15:28Speaker 3: you know, he had some that did really well? What
- 15:30Speaker 3: share or ETF have you seen the biggest return on?
- 15:33Speaker 4: Yeah, if I just look back, it was BHP. But
- 15:37Speaker 4: I think definitely around the timing of that because my
- 15:41Speaker 4: current investments, I think I'm at the moment down like
- 15:46Speaker 4: eighteen hundreds down, I think three percent, And then I
- 15:49Speaker 4: just did my caps on the weekend and NDQ is
- 15:51Speaker 4: currently what negative one percent?
- 15:53Speaker 2: And that's just obviously the market situation as of today.
- 15:57Speaker 2: There's a bit going on.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Yeah, obviously I've only recently invested really in those, so
- 16:04Speaker 4: that's all part of it.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:05Speaker 3: I was about to say, so tell me a little
- 16:07Speaker 3: bit about the dates of that, because I feel like, yes,
- 16:10Speaker 3: the market is down right now, but I don't know,
- 16:13Speaker 3: are you seeing that as an opportunity or is that
- 16:15Speaker 3: stressing you out?
- 16:16Speaker 4: I wish I had cash available to see it as
- 16:18Speaker 4: an opportunity, but I don't really have spare cash. I've
- 16:22Speaker 4: just been Dolo coast averaging at the moment every page
- 16:25Speaker 4: yet Okay, that makes sense. Yeah, but I guess I
- 16:29Speaker 4: probably has to have the perception that, like, well, what
- 16:33Speaker 4: if I just saved that cash and waited for an opportunity,
- 16:36Speaker 4: like now, like is that better off than dolok savaging?
- 16:39Speaker 3: Like that definitely plays on my mind a little bit,
- 16:41Speaker 3: But that would be going back to your strategy of
- 16:43Speaker 3: timing the market, right, and how did that work out
- 16:46Speaker 3: for us?
- 16:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I really need to learn. I've learned, but it's yeah,
- 16:52Speaker 2: it lives red free. Yeah.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Look, I don't learn either, And I say that because
- 16:57Speaker 3: I don't want to pretend to be someone I'm not.
- 16:59Speaker 3: But like I see market going down, and I'm like, oh,
- 17:01Speaker 3: an opportunity, maybe I should invest a little bit more.
- 17:05Speaker 3: But the reality is, like Victoria, just keep dollar cost
- 17:08Speaker 3: averaging into the market and we can definitely like make
- 17:12Speaker 3: the most of this and of the rest of it,
- 17:14Speaker 3: because like we don't know if it's gonna go further down,
- 17:16Speaker 3: Like if we put one hundred bucks in today, is
- 17:19Speaker 3: it gonna be worth ten tomorrow, we don't know. Is
- 17:21Speaker 3: it gonna be worth two hundred tomorrow? Also don't know.
- 17:24Speaker 3: So I think it's just really important to not get
- 17:26Speaker 3: caught up in it. In saying that, I also need
- 17:30Speaker 3: to admit that when the market has gone down, and
- 17:33Speaker 3: I know, like I use Charezi's as you mentioned before,
- 17:36Speaker 3: I have some cash sitting in my Chase's account because
- 17:39Speaker 3: every single month I just have my automatic like payment
- 17:42Speaker 3: that goes into the ETFs that I've picked, right, but
- 17:45Speaker 3: I have some extra cash sitting there that's kind of
- 17:47Speaker 3: like built up, and I keep being like, do I
- 17:49Speaker 3: invest it? So yesterday I definitely invested a little bit
- 17:52Speaker 3: more because I was like, Oh, I mean, it's down
- 17:54Speaker 3: from the average, and what's the worst thing over the
- 17:56Speaker 3: long term if it even goes down, More like, it
- 17:59Speaker 3: doesn't really matter. At least I'm getting it into the market.
- 18:02Speaker 3: And I think we've all got to put our big
- 18:04Speaker 3: girl pants on when it comes to that, because we
- 18:06Speaker 3: can't time the market, but we can try to seize
- 18:08Speaker 3: an opportunity and then if that opportunity doesn't feel like
- 18:11Speaker 3: it's been seized within that year, at least it's in
- 18:14Speaker 3: the market, you know, for the long haul. So I'm
- 18:16Speaker 3: actually going to be better off. It just wasn't as
- 18:19Speaker 3: cool as it could have been, you know. Yeah, absolutely,
- 18:22Speaker 3: So tell me about your dividends. With the dividends that
- 18:25Speaker 3: get paid out, what's the plan. Are you reinvesting them?
- 18:29Speaker 3: Are you pulling them out as income? Do they just
- 18:31Speaker 3: go into your bank account? You haven't done anything with
- 18:33Speaker 3: them yet? What does that look like?
- 18:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I just have them to auto reinvest into the
- 18:38Speaker 4: platform at the moment, and then I just choose where
- 18:41Speaker 4: I'd like to put it from there. But I haven't
- 18:44Speaker 4: really gone like eight two hundred does pay dividends. I
- 18:46Speaker 4: haven't really picked them based off dividend yield, Like I
- 18:49Speaker 4: don't think NDQ actually has a very good yield on
- 18:52Speaker 4: that something that's a big deal for me personally because
- 18:56Speaker 4: I'm not looking to see that cash at all anywhere.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:59Speaker 3: So are you going for more of a growth strategy
- 19:01Speaker 3: over the long term then?
- 19:02Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, definitely.
- 19:03Speaker 4: That's why I ENDQUE is in the mix because it's
- 19:06Speaker 4: probably higher risk guid.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Hear your thoughts, so that all.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Right, let's get to my thoughts. We'll go to a
- 19:15Speaker 3: really quick break though, and then we can get to
- 19:17Speaker 3: my thoughts and a few of the spicier things after that.
- 19:20Speaker 3: I want to know if you've made any tactical moves,
- 19:22Speaker 3: how you actually feel after market dips, and something that
- 19:25Speaker 3: I get questions about all the time that you also raised,
- 19:29Speaker 3: what platform do we pick and how do we stick
- 19:31Speaker 3: to it? So don't go anywhere, guys. All right, we
- 19:37Speaker 3: are back, and I want to dive into platform conversations
- 19:41Speaker 3: because in your diary in you were like v with
- 19:44Speaker 3: CMC markets, get some free trades money in, but I
- 19:48Speaker 3: kind of like, what shares these looks like? The INSIGHT's
- 19:51Speaker 3: pretty sexy. Tell me about your decision making process around
- 19:55Speaker 3: platform and why you might want to move.
- 19:57Speaker 2: It has been a massive deal.
- 20:00Speaker 4: I'm still probably coming to terms with getting to the
- 20:03Speaker 4: end of that decision, and I'm still currently in between
- 20:05Speaker 4: the two. All of my current dollar cost averaging is
- 20:08Speaker 4: within chaersays at the moment, but I've still got pretty.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Much my body. You see you're worredy there. Yeah, I'm
- 20:13Speaker 2: halfway there. I'm just in the middle of transitioning over.
- 20:17Speaker 4: I spent like three years in CMC, though not knowing
- 20:20Speaker 4: that if you went under a thousand dollars for your trade,
- 20:25Speaker 4: you get free brokerage. I was just doing like fourteen
- 20:28Speaker 4: hundred eleven hundred dollars and like getting the ten.
- 20:33Speaker 2: So I learned my lesson there.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Oh that's so annoying.
- 20:36Speaker 2: But's the biggest reason to move across is that I
- 20:39Speaker 2: just find it.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Really hard initially to know how much, Like there's no
- 20:43Speaker 4: tracking on how much I've put in, and I did
- 20:45Speaker 4: some digging to try to find that, and it's just
- 20:48Speaker 4: absolutely painful to work that out. Yeah, in terms of
- 20:52Speaker 4: like on the what they have available to find that,
- 20:55Speaker 4: and then you also I don't know, I'm trying. I
- 20:57Speaker 4: would love to know how to like get your year
- 21:00Speaker 4: year performance. Yeah, like nothing, No one seems to be
- 21:02Speaker 4: able to have that available.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Yeah, So in Chaza's you absolutely can have your year
- 21:06Speaker 3: on year performance, but you have to have been on
- 21:09Speaker 3: the platform for more than a year to do that.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Does that make sense? So, like, I think you've only
- 21:13Speaker 3: just moved to Chazy's, so it probably isn't a stat
- 21:16Speaker 3: that when you click on it it will come up,
- 21:18Speaker 3: is that right?
- 21:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that would make sense.
- 21:19Speaker 3: But on CMC markets, I genuinely can't tell you. But
- 21:23Speaker 3: what I can tell you about that platform is it's
- 21:25Speaker 3: not a bad platform. There's like actually, in Australia, we
- 21:28Speaker 3: are very lucky because there is such a level of
- 21:32Speaker 3: like compliance that people need to meet to be able
- 21:35Speaker 3: to offer a platform in our country, right, so you
- 21:38Speaker 3: know it's going to hold up. But it's more about
- 21:41Speaker 3: the data and the insights that you're looking for, and
- 21:43Speaker 3: they are a little bit more lean. That doesn't mean
- 21:45Speaker 3: I don't recommend them. I have a CMC Market's account
- 21:48Speaker 3: because we all know that. Like, I mean, guys, some
- 21:51Speaker 3: cheese on the money. I got every platform my tax
- 21:54Speaker 3: return and my accountant hate me, like they're always like
- 21:57Speaker 3: how many platforms have you got? And what's invested on this?
- 22:00Speaker 3: And like every platform, Like if my community is talking
- 22:03Speaker 3: about a platform, go, I'm going to go get it.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Like not because I want to invest my life savings
- 22:08Speaker 3: on there, but I want to make sure that I'm
- 22:10Speaker 3: checking it out. If there's any big red flags, I
- 22:13Speaker 3: know what it is, So I'll chuck a hundred bucks in.
- 22:15Speaker 3: I'll buy you know, a VDHG share on there and
- 22:18Speaker 3: just see how it tracks and what type of performance
- 22:20Speaker 3: and insights I get. But the cheaper your platform, the
- 22:24Speaker 3: less spells and whistles you get. Now, that's not to
- 22:26Speaker 3: say that cheap platforms are bad, but you are clearly
- 22:30Speaker 3: looking for a bit more data and a bit more
- 22:32Speaker 3: insight in maybe more of a user friendly way. And
- 22:35Speaker 3: that's where personally, I really enjoy what I can get
- 22:38Speaker 3: out of CHASS. I like that I can click through
- 22:40Speaker 3: my portfolio and see what I've put in over time.
- 22:42Speaker 3: I like that I can see how much money I've
- 22:44Speaker 3: put in versus how much money I totally have, and
- 22:46Speaker 3: then like do little charts and stuff. I would say
- 22:49Speaker 3: that the chasas app, and I feel like a walking salesperson,
- 22:53Speaker 3: so please like, that's not the intention right now, but
- 22:57Speaker 3: I feel like the app is really fantastic. When you
- 23:00Speaker 3: log into the desktop, it's even better. And I know
- 23:03Speaker 3: that they really want to promote the app, like that's
- 23:05Speaker 3: the coolest thing, right, But being able to access things
- 23:07Speaker 3: on my computer, maybe I just feel like a gamer.
- 23:10Speaker 3: I don't know. When the chart's bigger, it means better.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, I haven't even looked at the desktop, so
- 23:16Speaker 2: I'll have to do that.
- 23:17Speaker 3: But yeah, you can log in on your desktop, and
- 23:19Speaker 3: that seems to be a way that I like to
- 23:22Speaker 3: absorb my information. I feel like on the go, I
- 23:25Speaker 3: just look at it on my phone, and like, if
- 23:27Speaker 3: I'm investing a little bit more, I'm just checking something.
- 23:29Speaker 3: But when I want to look at my portfolio as
- 23:31Speaker 3: a whole or download a tax report, I'm always logging in.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Do you have to do that?
- 23:35Speaker 3: No, but I personally enjoy doing it that way. But
- 23:39Speaker 3: your platform is your personal opinion, right, Like some people
- 23:43Speaker 3: couldn't care less for an app, whereas me, I want
- 23:47Speaker 3: the app. I want to be able to just see
- 23:48Speaker 3: it on the go. I really like their search engine.
- 23:51Speaker 3: I really like all of that, whereas some people are
- 23:53Speaker 3: going to go, oh V, I'm just with like, you know,
- 23:56Speaker 3: the most simple one ever. I just buy stuff and
- 23:59Speaker 3: I don't need any insights and that's cool. But there's
- 24:02Speaker 3: no one size fits all answer.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yeah, if that makes sense.
- 24:05Speaker 3: I wish I could be like, babe, here's the answer.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Yeah. I think I just got to a point where
- 24:09Speaker 4: I'm ready to understand my performance is more and CMC
- 24:13Speaker 4: wasn't quite doing that for me anymore.
- 24:16Speaker 2: And also life is all of a sudden really busy.
- 24:19Speaker 2: It's just where I'm at with things.
- 24:21Speaker 4: So automatic investing is a really great function that I
- 24:26Speaker 4: can just automatically after every paychecks and money straight into
- 24:29Speaker 4: chaseas and then they automatically invests every fortnight and I
- 24:32Speaker 4: don't even have to look at it.
- 24:34Speaker 2: But that's such a weird.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:35Speaker 3: I like that it just automates it. And as you said,
- 24:38Speaker 3: when life gets busy stuff like this, you go, oh yeah, yeah,
- 24:42Speaker 3: I'll get to it, and then you forget, and then
- 24:43Speaker 3: it's a month later and you've actually missed a month,
- 24:45Speaker 3: and that's okay, But those things add up over time,
- 24:48Speaker 3: and like the entire point is to create financial freedom,
- 24:51Speaker 3: and right now I don't have freedom. I'm really busy
- 24:54Speaker 3: with two kids. And I promise I would have missed
- 24:56Speaker 3: the last three investing cycles had it not just been
- 24:59Speaker 3: a notific on my phone, Like my shares, this notification
- 25:02Speaker 3: pops up and it's like your trade's been done. I'm like,
- 25:04Speaker 3: oh yeah, whoa. Well, I find it really helpful. And
- 25:10Speaker 3: like I'm just the type of person that out of sight,
- 25:12Speaker 3: out of mind, Like if it's not front of mind
- 25:14Speaker 3: and it's not right in front of me, sometimes I
- 25:16Speaker 3: just forget to do it.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 4: Absolutely, I just like that it's admin freed. Like you know,
- 25:21Speaker 4: you can said that once and that is it. Don't
- 25:23Speaker 4: have to worry about it, and you can offer it,
- 25:24Speaker 4: you can down it, whatever, you can adjust that.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, And that's why I have money sitting in
- 25:29Speaker 3: my account because like, I invest the amount that I,
- 25:32Speaker 3: you know, want to invest every month, and then I
- 25:34Speaker 3: transfer some more over. I don't know if everybody knows
- 25:37Speaker 3: my budget and cash flow system, but every week I
- 25:40Speaker 3: give myself a certain amount of money, and then if
- 25:42Speaker 3: I don't spend it, I can either transfer it to
- 25:44Speaker 3: my savings for something bigger, or I just transfer it
- 25:47Speaker 3: to my investment account and it just builds up, and
- 25:49Speaker 3: then I can, you know, do an extra investment or something.
- 25:52Speaker 3: That money just builds up and then you know, I
- 25:54Speaker 3: can dive in and invest a little bit more or
- 25:56Speaker 3: have a bit of a play, or pick up a
- 25:58Speaker 3: new satellite. So the market's been pretty crazy recently. I
- 26:03Speaker 3: feel like every day I log in and it's red
- 26:07Speaker 3: or it's green and I'm confused, or I see that
- 26:11Speaker 3: Trump has said something different on Twitter again. How are
- 26:14Speaker 3: you reacting to that as an investor who hasn't been
- 26:17Speaker 3: in the market for a long time, Like, what does
- 26:20Speaker 3: that look like? Because it feels like initiation.
- 26:22Speaker 4: By fire yeah, particularly having just moved to these two
- 26:26Speaker 4: ETFs recently, definitely noticing it in my portfolio. Yeah, I
- 26:31Speaker 4: know enough to not panic and worry about it. No
- 26:35Speaker 4: enough that I wish I had yet more cash to
- 26:37Speaker 4: put in, And that's fine. I think I just probably
- 26:41Speaker 4: at a point where I want to really make sure
- 26:43Speaker 4: that my strategy is okay, and that's probably where I
- 26:46Speaker 4: probably need to get some more support and not just
- 26:49Speaker 4: go off what I think is right sometimes, which you know,
- 26:52Speaker 4: I love the challenge of learning about the investing world,
- 26:56Speaker 4: but probably at a point where I need some support.
- 26:59Speaker 4: And yeah, I'm I'm fine with where the current world,
- 27:02Speaker 4: how that is impacting the market and my investments. I
- 27:05Speaker 4: have no means to pull that money out anytime soon,
- 27:08Speaker 4: Like I'm planning to leave.
- 27:09Speaker 2: That in there, yeah for it. I don't know retirement,
- 27:12Speaker 2: I don't have any plans to bring it out. So yeah,
- 27:15Speaker 2: I'm not too stressed.
- 27:16Speaker 3: So tell me about this apprehension that you have around
- 27:19Speaker 3: your investing strategy. Is it because you're like, oh, I'm
- 27:22Speaker 3: just really not sure if I'm doing it right, or
- 27:24Speaker 3: you really want to tweak something specific, or you're just
- 27:27Speaker 3: like super excited about the whole market, Like what does
- 27:30Speaker 3: that look like? Because I feel like when we start
- 27:32Speaker 3: talking about strategy, often different people mean different things. Sometimes
- 27:37Speaker 3: they're like, oh, well, my strategy is I just want
- 27:39Speaker 3: to add another ETF and I go, oh, well that's
- 27:41Speaker 3: different then, you know, growth versus a dividend strategy for example.
- 27:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I was more meaning the strategy of where I'm
- 27:50Speaker 4: at with the two ETF And like, you know, I've
- 27:53Speaker 4: sort of like I think I said, you said at
- 27:55Speaker 4: the stuff I've been through the ringer, which is probably
- 27:57Speaker 4: not the best onix of words that I could have
- 28:00Speaker 4: describe it, But.
- 28:01Speaker 3: I didn't say that.
- 28:02Speaker 2: You said that.
- 28:02Speaker 3: I read your own words.
- 28:03Speaker 4: It sounds right and how to describe it. And I
- 28:07Speaker 4: just feel like I want to make sure that I'm
- 28:09Speaker 4: not in another point where in another year time, I'm like, oh,
- 28:12Speaker 4: that's just another part of that journey. Like I'd like
- 28:15Speaker 4: to get to a point where I'm really, really, really
- 28:18Speaker 4: confident in how I'm going about things so that I
- 28:21Speaker 4: can get the returns.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and just make them consistent, and you just know
- 28:24Speaker 3: that you've got good exposure to a number of different
- 28:27Speaker 3: markets and you're good to go. Like, I feel like
- 28:30Speaker 3: that confidence is often underestimated. Like it's so important to
- 28:35Speaker 3: have that confidence, because that's what's going to mean that
- 28:37Speaker 3: you do stick to it over the long term and
- 28:39Speaker 3: feel confident during that period because like the market's going
- 28:42Speaker 3: to go up, but the market's going to go down,
- 28:44Speaker 3: and like you just want to make sure that you're secure,
- 28:47Speaker 3: Like it's a smart thing to do. Yeah, now, my friend,
- 28:50Speaker 3: I want to ask you mentioned that you sold down
- 28:54Speaker 3: your shares and somewhat up and somewhat down. Can you
- 28:56Speaker 3: tell me about the tax implications? What happened there? Did
- 28:59Speaker 3: you have to talk to your accountant? Did you have
- 29:01Speaker 3: to pay a whole heap of tax? What did that look?
- 29:03Speaker 4: Like I'm just a little girl, and I literally had
- 29:06Speaker 4: no idea about like the implications of tax.
- 29:11Speaker 2: I actually don't really know.
- 29:13Speaker 4: Probably another reason that I've moved from CMC is like
- 29:17Speaker 4: the statements and tax time and I've only this year
- 29:21Speaker 4: got a personalized account, like I've always done my own
- 29:24Speaker 4: tax retan, like i'ven't always been in a position where
- 29:27Speaker 4: I could have only been at UNI and whatnot, So
- 29:30Speaker 4: I don't really.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Know you can do it yourself. But also that's again
- 29:33Speaker 3: I feel like a walking advertisement for chairs's today and
- 29:36Speaker 3: that's not the meaning of it. But after tax time,
- 29:39Speaker 3: Chaz's literally just send you a whole statement that you
- 29:43Speaker 3: hand the PDF over to your accountant and they go
- 29:45Speaker 3: thank you, and that's all they need. And I just
- 29:48Speaker 3: think that's fantastic. Yeah, let's mental load. We're just girls
- 29:52Speaker 3: like I don't want to have to calculate it, and
- 29:54Speaker 3: do you know what, I'm someone who can calculate it.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Do I want to? Though?
- 29:57Speaker 2: Still no, No, I'll leave the account to do that
- 30:01Speaker 2: work for me. But yeah, I don't actually know how
- 30:04Speaker 2: they facted me previously. Probably should, but.
- 30:06Speaker 3: I know you know what, it clearly hasn't impacted you
- 30:09Speaker 3: that bad. No, No, So talk to me about how
- 30:13Speaker 3: much you have invested. We know that you started with
- 30:16Speaker 3: ten grand and that your parents gifted you ten grand
- 30:19Speaker 3: to kick it off, and that's kind of what started
- 30:20Speaker 3: at snowballing. But where have you gotten to because I feel,
- 30:24Speaker 3: like you mentioned, I had a year where I got
- 30:25Speaker 3: one point five percent returns and that was kind of dismal,
- 30:28Speaker 3: But now I'm back on track. What's your total portfolio
- 30:31Speaker 3: worth now?
- 30:32Speaker 2: Yeah? The total portfolio is at thirty k oh who
- 30:35Speaker 2: is she? Yeah? Fifteen in eight hundred and fifteen in
- 30:40Speaker 2: ND here.
- 30:40Speaker 3: That is very cool. And for context, guys, our money
- 30:43Speaker 3: direst is only twenty four. Yeah, you're just a baby
- 30:48Speaker 3: in the nicest possible way. I hope people know that
- 30:50Speaker 3: when I say that, it's not a oh, I'm condescending
- 30:54Speaker 3: you're so young, in a oh my goodness, you have
- 30:57Speaker 3: so much time ahead of you. This is so exciting.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Your twenty and have thirty grand invested like money win.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really exciting.
- 31:05Speaker 4: And I think if I did a similar thing for
- 31:07Speaker 4: my kids, I probably wouldn't give them the cash till
- 31:09Speaker 4: they were like twenty five and had their head screwed up,
- 31:11Speaker 4: because I feel like I'm only.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Just growing up at twenty four, so that you're learning.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Yeah, you're learning, and you know what, you put it
- 31:18Speaker 3: into the share market. Do you know how many people
- 31:20Speaker 3: I've met who have been in similar situations and they're like, oh, yep,
- 31:24Speaker 3: actually spent all that money on a holiday.
- 31:27Speaker 2: No, it was forced, we weren't allowed to touch it.
- 31:29Speaker 3: You know what, Your parents have got their head screwed on.
- 31:31Speaker 3: I like them, Picasso. Now tell me what your financial
- 31:35Speaker 3: freedom number looks like. Have you thought about this? You're investing.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Where do you want to get to? What's the long
- 31:41Speaker 3: term plan?
- 31:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I literally haven't given it too much. Like I've
- 31:46Speaker 4: got this idea I'd love to put have one hundred
- 31:48Speaker 4: k and chairs. I don't know, that feels like a
- 31:50Speaker 4: nice number. I've been there, and like the idea is
- 31:54Speaker 4: to retire off that cash, not really see it or
- 31:58Speaker 4: look at it. I'd love to it by house one
- 32:01Speaker 4: day or build a house. I'n't really gone down the
- 32:03Speaker 4: strategy of that. I've only just started using the first
- 32:06Speaker 4: time super Savor scheme, so that is definitely a little
- 32:10Speaker 4: way off. I think I'm putting in two fifty or
- 32:12Speaker 4: for that. So if I want to hit the fifty k,
- 32:16Speaker 4: it's like it's like eight years to hit the BAX
- 32:19Speaker 4: fifty k.
- 32:20Speaker 2: So at some point, im I bump that up.
- 32:21Speaker 3: That could's still You're on the way, my love, you
- 32:24Speaker 3: are on the way.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Yeah, in the making, I guess.
- 32:27Speaker 3: But that's so exciting or I think that's exciting.
- 32:30Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, it's exciting to go about actually making that
- 32:35Speaker 4: a somewhat of a priority. And yeah, it was interesting
- 32:38Speaker 4: to go down and learn about the super Save scheme route.
- 32:42Speaker 4: Like initially I thought, oh, put that money for my house,
- 32:46Speaker 4: posit in the sham market.
- 32:47Speaker 2: But I have this thing where I like and I
- 32:50Speaker 2: never want to pull that money out of the share market.
- 32:52Speaker 2: I just don't want to. I don't know.
- 32:53Speaker 4: I've been in a few situations where I probably should have,
- 32:56Speaker 4: and I just I don't like it. It doesn't appeal
- 32:59Speaker 4: to me at allably a bit obsessed with seeing that
- 33:01Speaker 4: number grow and not come back. And then a few
- 33:05Speaker 4: other options were have my house closit in a cash account,
- 33:09Speaker 4: and I didn't really like the idea of that, Like
- 33:12Speaker 4: I'd prefer to have it growing at a bigger rate.
- 33:15Speaker 4: And my super's averaging like nine point six percent. Very nicey,
- 33:19Speaker 4: let's let's throw it in there so it's growing. I
- 33:22Speaker 4: can't actually touch it until I really need to, like
- 33:25Speaker 4: until I'm ready to buy or build or I haven't
- 33:28Speaker 4: really looked at what that actually looks like at the end,
- 33:30Speaker 4: but sort of like salary sacrifice. So you don't even
- 33:34Speaker 4: see that cash either, Yeah, en have to touch it,
- 33:36Speaker 4: look at it whatever. Yeah, so that's a big goal
- 33:38Speaker 4: as well at some point.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Oh, I love that, And I think that that's a
- 33:42Speaker 3: situation that lots of us are in. Like if you're
- 33:44Speaker 3: twenty four, It's like, well, I actually don't have a
- 33:46Speaker 3: financial freedom number yet, but I know that I'm well
- 33:48Speaker 3: on the way, and over time, with your lifestyle, you
- 33:51Speaker 3: work that out. I just I'm excited for you and
- 33:54Speaker 3: I'm just glad that you're starting to use things like
- 33:56Speaker 3: the first Time Super Savior scheme. They're literally set up
- 33:59Speaker 3: to benefit, like you are going to get tax discounts
- 34:02Speaker 3: for using that. Just think about whether it works for
- 34:05Speaker 3: your situation. Tell me now, at the start of this episode,
- 34:08Speaker 3: you're like, I'm a Bee, Like I reckon, I'm a
- 34:10Speaker 3: solid bee when it comes to money, not just investing.
- 34:14Speaker 3: What would it take to get you from a B
- 34:16Speaker 3: to an A.
- 34:17Speaker 4: There's a few things that go into that. We haven't
- 34:20Speaker 4: quite touched on it. But my net worth is like zero.
- 34:23Speaker 4: I have a seventy three K help debt from UNI, so.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Oh that's okay.
- 34:27Speaker 3: I was like, babe, is that a credit card? I
- 34:29Speaker 3: was like, I'm gonna talk to you about it. But
- 34:31Speaker 3: that's not the worst. Yep.
- 34:34Speaker 4: So that's equal to my asse. So that's fine, Like,
- 34:37Speaker 4: I feel fine about it. I'm not making any extra
- 34:40Speaker 4: contributions to it.
- 34:41Speaker 3: It's very different when it's a hex debt versus a
- 34:43Speaker 3: personal debt my life and you're also so young, like
- 34:46Speaker 3: that is to be expected, yep.
- 34:48Speaker 2: And another one you're probably gonna tell me off, but
- 34:51Speaker 2: like I.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Have some when if I ever told anybody off, sit.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Down, it's about emergency fun So it might I don't
- 34:59Speaker 2: have half of it.
- 35:01Speaker 4: I just haven't got my full warm out, and I
- 35:03Speaker 4: am putting money into every pacheck, but at the same time,
- 35:06Speaker 4: I'm not fully putting all my cash there to get
- 35:09Speaker 4: it up to scratch, putting money in my sharepoofully at
- 35:13Speaker 4: the same time.
- 35:14Speaker 2: So hopefully you're not gonna tell me off.
- 35:16Speaker 3: I'm not mad at you. I would never be mad
- 35:19Speaker 3: at you. But I do think it's a really good example. Right,
- 35:22Speaker 3: So if we just rerhyned a little bit, So you're
- 35:24Speaker 3: saying I need an emergency fund, but I'm also prioritizing
- 35:27Speaker 3: my investing, and I get it, and lots of people
- 35:30Speaker 3: in our community are. But would you say that you're
- 35:33Speaker 3: in a financial position where if something happened, you're going
- 35:36Speaker 3: to be okay, and you're all right with the decision
- 35:39Speaker 3: that you're making to put it into the share market, Like, yeah,
- 35:41Speaker 3: we all know that putting it in the share market
- 35:44Speaker 3: is not the best idea because you might have to
- 35:46Speaker 3: pull it out at make a loss. But I just
- 35:47Speaker 3: feel like you're a bit more risky than most. Am
- 35:50Speaker 3: I picking that up right?
- 35:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I definitely like controlled risk.
- 35:54Speaker 4: I'm happy to be risk adverse, but ideally it might
- 35:59Speaker 4: not seem like it with my history of investing.
- 36:01Speaker 5: But I do like to feel like.
- 36:03Speaker 2: I'm comfortable with the decisions that I'm making.
- 36:05Speaker 4: I'm not just making really, I feel like when I
- 36:07Speaker 4: make them, they're not really nearly decisions. Looking back, maybe
- 36:11Speaker 4: they were quick decisions and a bit too fast paced,
- 36:15Speaker 4: but like it's just the excitement to get involved and
- 36:18Speaker 4: definitely probably a bit of risk in.
- 36:20Speaker 3: There, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I
- 36:22Speaker 3: think that's a calculated decision. And you know, one Just
- 36:26Speaker 3: to be very clear, I've never told anybody off about
- 36:29Speaker 3: their financial decisions, because that would make me a terrible person.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Two pot kettle black. I've made some of the worst
- 36:37Speaker 3: financial decisions. That's how I've ended up on this side
- 36:40Speaker 3: of the microphone, my friend. But then I also just
- 36:44Speaker 3: think you're a smart woman doing smart things, and you
- 36:47Speaker 3: are choosing this actively and as long as it was
- 36:50Speaker 3: an active decision, I'm cool with it because it was
- 36:53Speaker 3: your decision and that's the best one that could be
- 36:55Speaker 3: made for you. Whereas if you were like, oh, I
- 36:58Speaker 3: didn't realize I should be putting more in my emergency
- 37:01Speaker 3: fund I wish I had. That's a different story than
- 37:03Speaker 3: the oh my god, I'm not doing that because I've
- 37:06Speaker 3: prioritized something else. Sorry, this is your life. Go live it, bab.
- 37:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm on track to like max it out where
- 37:12Speaker 4: I want it to be in June, so I'm not
- 37:14Speaker 4: too stressed.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it's fine, money diarist, I wish we had more time.
- 37:20Speaker 3: Thank you so much for being so open. Our community
- 37:24Speaker 3: is going to be obsessed with this because you're you know,
- 37:27Speaker 3: I think that we'd get on like a house on fire,
- 37:29Speaker 3: because you are so chaotic that I love it. Like,
- 37:33Speaker 3: You're just like I just did it, and I'd be like, great,
- 37:36Speaker 3: no worries, Like you're you know what you've got becksied energy.
- 37:39Speaker 3: You're just like, I just did it and I'll work
- 37:41Speaker 3: it out later.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I wish I was more like you. Well, I
- 37:45Speaker 2: probably wish I was less like me, but yeah, we're here.
- 37:49Speaker 3: No, you know what You're the best type of person.
- 37:51Speaker 3: And I bet all your friends are like, she's the
- 37:53Speaker 3: fun one. She is the fun one. She is chaos,
- 37:56Speaker 3: but she's headed in the right direction. And I'm just
