1:10
SPEAKER_01: Welcome to the Carrie Croft Show.
1:16
SPEAKER_01: Liz Hayslip.
1:17
SPEAKER_01: Howdy, howdy.
1:18
SPEAKER_01: You are um a sight for sore eyes.
1:21
SPEAKER_01: Oh, oh my.
1:23
SPEAKER_01: I get mad.
1:24
SPEAKER_01: Like I do.
1:25
SPEAKER_01: Like if I get mad when people are super hot.
1:27
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, what are you doing?
1:28
SPEAKER_01: And like, what's happening here?
1:30
SPEAKER_02: But I'm doing this.
1:31
SPEAKER_02: We gotta we gotta go through head to toe.
1:33
SPEAKER_02: This is a lot of investment.
1:35
SPEAKER_01: Very little of this is God given.
1:37
SPEAKER_01: But you're so like you're on and you're on your website, like you're on a lot of those photos.
1:42
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
1:42
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, no wonder.
1:45
SPEAKER_02: Like I was not expecting you to say that.
1:47
SPEAKER_02: I'm like, yeah, wait.
1:48
SPEAKER_02: No, I'm serious, because then you're so pretty.
1:51
SPEAKER_02: Well, thanks.
1:52
SPEAKER_02: I've I've learned them, I've like mastered um like contouring and my angles.
1:58
SPEAKER_02: I mean, I've been I bl don't edit these out modeling for like 13 years.
2:05
SPEAKER_02: So I mean, I know exactly like what to do and how to pose and like how to like lean in and lean back and yeah, like but I feel like what's so interesting is you are like the perfect model for your shit.
2:17
SPEAKER_01: Don't you think?
2:19
SPEAKER_02: I I mean I hope I pro I it must be because the business is doing really is doing really well.
2:26
SPEAKER_02: So yeah, yeah.
2:28
SPEAKER_01: Because like, okay, so like I from a 10,000 foot view, like I would when I was looking at your website, I'm thinking, because if you look at the if the founder was modeling their shit and it wasn't working, you'd be like, okay, let's get it's yeah, but it's like I couldn't think of someone that's more perfect to model your shit.
2:46
SPEAKER_01: And I know you have other people on there too, yeah.
2:48
SPEAKER_01: But I was like finding myself just like, God, you're so like the brand is just so you and so good and so authentic.
2:54
SPEAKER_01: That's that's so kudos to Comments.
2:56
SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
2:57
SPEAKER_01: It's true.
2:58
SPEAKER_01: Thanks.
2:58
SPEAKER_02: So it's been fun.
3:00
SPEAKER_02: I enjoy doing it, and maybe that's what works, is that I really enjoy doing it, and maybe that's what you I think it's also that you just you embody it.
3:08
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
3:09
SPEAKER_01: So it's like this came from this butt this budding business from like who you were and continue to be, which is so cool.
3:18
SPEAKER_01: And I think it's gonna be such an inspirational conversation for the young Lizzes out there who are maybe haven't even hatched their idea yet, or maybe they've hatched it and they're they don't really have the self-confidence, or maybe they're right in the thick of it and like this is just what they need to hear.
3:34
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's like you can do this shit.
3:36
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
3:36
SPEAKER_01: And so, what I love about you, I love a lot of things about you without knowing you that well, but I I feel like I I vibe with some things.
3:43
SPEAKER_01: So imperfect childhood, as most of us have, yeah, right, body image issues, been there, done that, um, some trauma, but you always had an unwavering belief inside, which I think is so interesting, and what makes people like the people who actually do it versus the people who kind of stay on the sidelines.
4:06
SPEAKER_01: So, like even when you were in this little Liz girl form, you still knew there was something special or you had something to get out into the world.
4:15
SPEAKER_02: That's yes, that is very true.
4:18
SPEAKER_02: Um, ever since I was little, I remember I remember my grandpa like sitting me up on the kitchen counter and being like, what do you want to be when you grow up?
4:25
SPEAKER_02: And I was like, famous.
4:28
SPEAKER_02: So, like, not that I'm not that I'm famous now, but it was just like this like part of me that knew I knew that I was not meant to have like a typical life.
4:37
SPEAKER_02: Not that there's anything wrong with a typical, but I just I knew that I was meant for so much more.
4:43
SPEAKER_02: And even through the times where I had insecurities or I had like hard times, that flame never died.
4:50
SPEAKER_02: Um and I knew that I would never get what I wanted out of life unless I continuously acknowledged it.
4:56
SPEAKER_02: And then at some point I became more committed to actually becoming that person.
5:01
SPEAKER_02: And that happened whenever I found that screen printing kit.
5:04
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
5:04
SPEAKER_01: So I was when I was doing some research on you, I couldn't help but think about you when you were the receptionist at the car dealership.
5:14
SPEAKER_01: And like you sitting there, clearly like very attractive, but probably very insecure, very young, probably not content, like trying to figure out what the fuck you're doing with your life, right?
5:25
SPEAKER_01: And you you have these, you know, you're you're creative and you're like, fuck, I'm just gonna, you know, I guess your husband like gave you the$40.
5:31
SPEAKER_01: Your husband at the time.
5:32
SPEAKER_02: My husband at the time.
5:33
SPEAKER_01: Gave you the$40.
5:34
SPEAKER_01: And that's kind of how the whole thing hashed, right?
5:37
SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes.
5:38
SPEAKER_02: I had spent, I had bought, and I only had like$80 in the bank, and I had bought two kits, and I took them both on at different times and ruined it.
5:45
SPEAKER_02: And so I spent like all of my money.
5:47
SPEAKER_02: Like I had like literal, like a dollar twenty-five in my bank account.
5:50
SPEAKER_02: And then I like went to my husband at the time with my tail between my legs and was like, can I please have$40?
5:54
SPEAKER_02: Like, I've got to figure out this screen printing thing.
5:57
SPEAKER_02: Because it like when I saw it, it was like, I don't even know how to explain it.
6:00
SPEAKER_02: It was just, I needed to figure it out.
6:03
SPEAKER_02: There's no other way to describe it.
6:05
SPEAKER_02: So then I brought it home, and I say this all the time, but it's it's true.
6:08
SPEAKER_02: It's funny because it's true.
6:10
SPEAKER_02: It was essentially a cardboard box with a light bulb screwed into it.
6:13
SPEAKER_02: I don't know how I didn't burn down the apartment.
6:15
SPEAKER_02: Like, I there's no way that it was safe to use.
6:19
SPEAKER_02: And I still have like the little flimsy piece of paper that like was technically like a screen printing screen.
6:23
SPEAKER_02: I still have it.
6:25
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, and like from that moment on, it was complete obsession.
6:29
SPEAKER_02: When I tell you, when I tell you, I worked on my business every single day, morning, noon, and night, birthday, holiday through sadness, breakups, happiness, whatever, like did all of it for probably close to consistently seven or eight years.
6:49
SPEAKER_02: And then I finally realized like I need like significant help.
6:52
SPEAKER_02: Like I only started to hire like legitimate, like full-time workers, like consistent full-time workers probably two years ago.
7:00
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
7:01
SPEAKER_01: Well, because you are the your story really is um, you're the person who didn't know anything that they were doing.
7:12
SPEAKER_01: Not a clue.
7:13
SPEAKER_01: You had no business acumen, you had a belief in yourself and a work ethic and probably a stubbornness and the audacity to believe that you could have.
7:22
SPEAKER_01: A bit of delusion, sprinkled that in the way.
7:24
SPEAKER_01: Well, you have to have that.
7:25
SPEAKER_01: And so, you know, I think like you're you weren't starting out with any sort of like one leg up for the average person.
7:33
SPEAKER_01: So for the person listening, it really does come down to having the idea that you're that you love enough to put those 60, 70 hour weeks in over and over and to prioritize.
7:47
SPEAKER_01: Like, there's not some special thing that happens when you start a business other than those things.
7:53
SPEAKER_02: The last thing it was was easy or convenient.
7:56
SPEAKER_02: It was not convenient.
7:57
SPEAKER_02: I remember like whenever I was still living in Colorado, um, I would my time to answer customer service emails was whenever I went to the bathroom.
8:05
SPEAKER_02: I would bring my computer and sit down and answer emails while I was peeing because it was like I had so much to do at all times that that was just like the time that I could do it.
8:15
SPEAKER_02: So it's like, okay, I'm gonna take five minutes, like and just pee or whatever, sit there for a few minutes and pee and answer customer service emails.
8:21
SPEAKER_02: So I'd like to give a big thank you to my customers from a long time ago who had pee emails and didn't know it.
8:27
SPEAKER_01: Whatever you have to do to get it done.
8:29
SPEAKER_01: So when you you said ex-husband, do you think that you finding this passion and growing this was like a big factor in that not working, or was that already destined like in the stars?
8:42
SPEAKER_02: I think it was destined in the stars that we would not be together.
8:47
SPEAKER_02: Whenever I sourced him, I was I was like a little girl.
8:53
SPEAKER_02: I had no idea what I was doing.
8:54
SPEAKER_02: Even then, I didn't know what I was really doing.
8:57
SPEAKER_02: I mean, obviously I knew what marriage was, but I had no idea what commitment looked like.
9:01
SPEAKER_02: I had no idea what a healthy relationship looked like.
9:04
SPEAKER_02: I was screwed from the beginning.
9:06
SPEAKER_02: I had no idea what I was doing.
9:07
SPEAKER_02: Um, and Harper, my daughter, she's 12 now, she was an oopsie, like the best oopsie ever.
9:12
SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
9:13
SPEAKER_02: But that obviously like made things harder.
9:16
SPEAKER_02: And you know, he went through some shit too.
9:18
SPEAKER_02: He was deployed twice in three years.
9:20
SPEAKER_02: He came back a different person.
9:22
SPEAKER_02: God bless him.
9:22
SPEAKER_02: Like it was one of those things that was just That's a hard life.
9:26
SPEAKER_02: It yes.
9:27
SPEAKER_01: A very hard on a marriage.
9:29
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
9:29
SPEAKER_01: I mean, life in general on a marriage, but yeah, we were young, inexperienced.
9:34
SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, we had by the time he came back, we really had nothing in common.
9:40
SPEAKER_02: Um and it was just we were like not even on the same planet.
9:45
SPEAKER_01: There was so so a note to add to this, you know, you've you have built this Pebby for Evy as a single mom, raising a daughter.
9:54
SPEAKER_01: Like how fucking terrifying but empowering all at the same time.
9:58
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
9:59
SPEAKER_02: I there was in my brain, there was like there is no other option.
10:03
SPEAKER_02: This will work because it has to.
10:06
SPEAKER_02: It has to work.
10:07
SPEAKER_02: Because what's my other option?
10:09
SPEAKER_02: To get like a job that I hate and then send her to daycare?
10:13
SPEAKER_02: Like I that sounds miserable.
10:15
SPEAKER_01: There's something to be said about being backed in a corner.
10:20
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
10:20
SPEAKER_01: Yep.
10:21
SPEAKER_01: Like when you have the those intangibles that we just talked about with you, like the stubbornness, the inner belief, like the work ethic, there's something to be said when there is no plan B.
10:33
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
10:33
SPEAKER_02: And I also remember like whenever I was little, we didn't have TV.
10:36
SPEAKER_02: Like we had A TV, but we really only had like VHS movies.
10:40
SPEAKER_02: And I remember always watching videos of like based on a true story.
10:44
SPEAKER_02: And it would be this person who like came from nothing, and then they like came out from somewhere, and I knew that it was based on a true story.
10:50
SPEAKER_02: And I remember being really little and thinking, there's no reason why that can't be me.
10:55
SPEAKER_02: Like, if it happened to them, it could happen to me.
10:57
SPEAKER_02: I didn't have a I didn't have like a roadmap as to what I would be doing or how I would make it work.
11:02
SPEAKER_02: I just knew that that could happen.
11:05
SPEAKER_02: Like I could become somebody that I wanted to be.
11:07
SPEAKER_02: I could have the things that I wanted.
11:09
SPEAKER_02: I could feel the way I wanted to feel, I could have the relationships I wanted to have.
11:14
SPEAKER_01: Why not?
11:15
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
11:15
SPEAKER_01: And then for the people who are new to Liz and to Pebby Forevi, tell people out there like what is the nucleus behind Pebby Forevi?
11:25
SPEAKER_01: What does it stand for?
11:26
SPEAKER_01: What's it about?
11:27
SPEAKER_02: Oh gosh.
11:28
SPEAKER_02: So Pebby is derived from you don't have to be uncomfortable to feel cute.
11:35
SPEAKER_02: Um, how you feel about yourself in the morning whenever you leave the house completely dictates every choice that you make.
11:42
SPEAKER_02: So how you feel about yourself and your worth and just your the lens that in which you look at the world um is is based on who you on who you are on the inside, but not not everything is is inward.
11:54
SPEAKER_02: So like how you look matters.
11:56
SPEAKER_02: It does.
11:57
SPEAKER_02: Oh, 100%.
11:58
SPEAKER_02: I will stand, I will die on that hill.
12:01
SPEAKER_01: Like I'm sitting here like a dirt bag, and I'm looking at you, and I'm like, let's just can we make this about me for a minute?
12:08
SPEAKER_01: Can we just turn out?
12:10
SPEAKER_01: Can we take a 180 year old because I'm kind of mad?
12:13
SPEAKER_01: Like, this is just, and we'll get back on track.
12:17
SPEAKER_01: I need to be more finished.
12:18
SPEAKER_01: I need to be more polished.
12:20
SPEAKER_01: I'm on air looking like this.
12:21
SPEAKER_01: I think you look fantastic.
12:22
SPEAKER_01: I love your screen.
12:23
SPEAKER_01: I can't say anything.
12:24
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this my shirt is heavy for heavy.
12:27
SPEAKER_01: I I feel like I could up my game a little bit.
12:30
SPEAKER_01: And so, like I said, we do need to talk about some sort of like you give me a kit or like something that I need to wear for like the show, and I look like a hot little snack.
12:43
SPEAKER_01: Oh, and that's how we that's how we can like because I really am feeling like what the fuck?
12:48
SPEAKER_01: Whatever you want, I will leave you with.
12:50
SPEAKER_02: I've done that before.
12:51
SPEAKER_01: But here's a problem too.
12:52
SPEAKER_01: It's like I almost I almost need someone to like sh like help me for a couple times.
12:58
SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm not good at this stuff.
12:59
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
12:59
SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
13:00
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know a person.
13:02
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think you might.
13:03
SPEAKER_01: I think you might.
13:04
SPEAKER_01: Okay, so so you guys, your your company stands for it's empowerment, it's feeling good in your body, it's all about that.
13:14
SPEAKER_01: What was it like when you were growing up?
13:16
SPEAKER_01: That I I read something about, like you saw cellulite on your legs when you were maybe eight.
13:20
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
13:21
SPEAKER_02: So I was, I remember perfectly.
13:22
SPEAKER_02: I went to a really small country school, and we were sitting in like the hallway of our school for some reason, and I had on shorts, and I was in third grade, I was eight, and I looked down and like I could see like little, like little dimples on like my thigh, like where my the back of my thigh was pinched into into like my calf.
13:39
SPEAKER_02: Like that's just how I was sitting.
13:40
SPEAKER_02: And I remember vividly like looking up, like I saw it, and I looked up like my soul had left my body and I was eight.
13:49
SPEAKER_02: Like I, you know, my my mom grew up with a lot of people commenting on her body um and how she looked, and she never fully healed from that.
14:03
SPEAKER_02: And I do not blame her for this whatsoever.
14:05
SPEAKER_02: Like she truly did not know any better.
14:07
SPEAKER_02: But whenever she would make remarks about her body um and look in the mirror and be like disgusted, or think that she didn't deserve certain things because she looked a certain way, or she deserved to be treated poorly because she didn't look perfect, like that seamlessly trickled down into the beliefs that I had for myself.
14:26
SPEAKER_02: Um and so in my house, we really don't even comment about bodies.
14:31
SPEAKER_02: Like we don't say, um, you look like you've lost weight.
14:36
SPEAKER_02: Um, that that looks good on your butt or anything.
14:40
SPEAKER_02: Like we just try not to say anything about it.
14:44
SPEAKER_02: Um, instead, I've been practicing saying, like, you look confident in that.
14:47
SPEAKER_02: Like this makes you look confident.
14:49
SPEAKER_02: This like make this brings out your skin tone.
14:51
SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, this you look rosy, you look happy, you look bright, or whatever.
14:55
SPEAKER_01: It's hard.
14:56
SPEAKER_01: Like it's hard, it's a muscle because we are so pro and we think it's complimentary, and and sometimes it is.
15:01
SPEAKER_01: Like it's like you want to hear like a good compliment.
15:03
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
15:04
SPEAKER_01: But I think it when it comes to like body shape, and now with like GLP ones and like all this stuff happening and people losing weight so quickly, I think there's such a sensitivity, even more than ever, around really commenting on people's appearance.
15:18
SPEAKER_02: I mean, I think we just replace one problem with another.
15:21
SPEAKER_02: Um and I do think that GLP ones definitely have like a place.
15:26
SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, as far as like like little girls, like with Harper um commenting about anything at all, like I'm I'm even like insane about what she sees on YouTube because I mean I hardly let her watch YouTube, but like she'll watch shows where there's like 15 and 16-year-old kids and she's 12, so she looks up to them and they'll be making comments about each other's bodies or like oh you gotta double chin.
15:51
SPEAKER_02: Like they're just like razzing each other, but I'm like, I've I'm like, change it.
15:56
SPEAKER_02: Because she thinks those kids are cool and like what they're saying is cool or whatever.
15:59
SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, I'm not, I'm not even gonna entertain that.
16:02
SPEAKER_02: Cause I mean, I grew up as a millennial, so this is like, you know, we were watching like do you remember the movie Bring It On with like the cheerleaders?
16:09
SPEAKER_02: How like there was like one girl that came up and they were like, oh my god, she looks like a cow, she's gained so much weight.
16:14
SPEAKER_02: I saw a clip of it probably like six months ago, and I was like looking at her, like there's literally nothing on her that I could even think that could even be more toned or trimmed down.
16:26
SPEAKER_02: Or it was insane.
16:27
SPEAKER_02: But like when if you grew up as a millennial, like if you were not anorexic looking, you were fat.
16:35
SPEAKER_02: It's and fat was like a bad thing.
16:37
SPEAKER_02: Like curvy did not belong.
16:39
SPEAKER_01: No.
16:40
SPEAKER_01: And curvy, I mean, I look at your website and I'm like, look at all these beautiful bodies, like just the curvy and the voluptuous, and like I love what Heavy Forever represents.
16:51
SPEAKER_01: Like it doesn't matter what your package looks like on the outside, it's the confidence that you embody.
16:57
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
16:57
SPEAKER_01: And like slapping on the graphic tee and layering on the joy, it's like, it's like I'm a badass.
17:02
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
17:02
SPEAKER_01: That's I think what resonates with you.
17:05
SPEAKER_01: Like, I feel like it's badass.
17:07
SPEAKER_01: And I'm all about the badassery.
17:09
SPEAKER_01: I love that.
17:10
SPEAKER_02: I really want the thing with Pebby is that like we also want to be um supportive of like no matter what journey you're on.
17:18
SPEAKER_02: So if you are somebody that is thinner and you want to bulk up, we have something for you.
17:23
SPEAKER_02: If you are somebody that's heavier and you want to trim down or tone up, cool, we'll meet you there.
17:27
SPEAKER_02: If you're somebody who's just like had a kid and is having like, you know, body image issues central, we're gonna meet you there.
17:35
SPEAKER_02: So like we fully support you and your journey, no matter where it is and where it wants to go, because it's your body and it's your decision, and we just want you to feel good in it.
17:43
SPEAKER_02: We'll support you with however we can.
17:45
SPEAKER_01: How long did it take you to add jewelry and sunglasses?
17:50
SPEAKER_01: Like, were you only apparel and then you decided to layer that on?
17:54
SPEAKER_02: Um, so I was doing a photo shoot with um one of the girls that I know, and like I would always dress up our because at the time I was only doing t-shirts, and this was probably like five years, four, no, it was probably only like three years in.
18:06
SPEAKER_02: And she was like, You should like sell your props.
18:09
SPEAKER_02: And I was like, I should sell my props.
18:12
SPEAKER_02: Like, I didn't even think about that.
18:14
SPEAKER_02: So then yeah, I became a wholesaler.
18:16
SPEAKER_02: Um we used to go to markets all the time and just buy, like, which is pretty common.
18:21
SPEAKER_02: Like, that's how a lot of like uh stores do it.
18:24
SPEAKER_02: We would just go to the markets and buy things wholesale, but then we became close with the vendors, and so then we started to do private labeling.
18:30
SPEAKER_02: And then now I have like my own designers.
18:33
SPEAKER_02: Um, I like have ideas and they help me curate it because I'm like, I don't know how to really design anything.
18:38
SPEAKER_02: Like I will tell, I still to this day will have ideas where I send stuff stapled together.
18:45
SPEAKER_02: Like, I'll be like, take this and we'll like cut it out a certain way and I'll send it stapled.
18:50
SPEAKER_02: Because I'm like, I don't care.
18:51
SPEAKER_02: If they think I'm crazy, I don't care.
18:52
SPEAKER_02: Like one of um one of our vendors, he's like, our pattern maker says, Oh, that Pebby, she's she's real crazy or something like that.
18:58
SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, Yeah, I don't care, it works.
19:00
SPEAKER_02: Well, but that they get the idea.
19:01
SPEAKER_02: They get the right.
19:02
SPEAKER_02: I'm like, who cares?
19:03
SPEAKER_02: Like, you if you can picture it, just make it.
19:05
SPEAKER_02: Like, you can see what I'm trying to do here.
19:07
SPEAKER_02: I don't let it really slow me down.
19:09
SPEAKER_02: So we started to do custom jewelry um a couple of years ago.
19:12
SPEAKER_02: We had issues though with like our vendor at the time.
19:15
SPEAKER_02: Um, quality wasn't real high up on his list, and we didn't find that out until later.
19:19
SPEAKER_02: So we pulled everything out.
19:21
SPEAKER_02: Um, and then just recently we found a new vendor, and he's he's he's good, he's fantastic.
19:27
SPEAKER_02: So I really enjoyed doing the jewelry part of it too.
19:30
SPEAKER_02: Um, I still designed some of the graphics, but we also have a graphic designer now too, and that that probably like took over significantly.
19:38
SPEAKER_02: Like he took over probably like three years ago.
19:42
SPEAKER_01: Is it significantly more complex to jewel do jewelry, or is it kind of the same as apparel?
19:49
SPEAKER_02: Um It's kind of the same.
19:52
SPEAKER_02: I mean, everything has like a learning curve.
19:54
SPEAKER_02: So with with like our t-shirts, um, we found out that there's certain ways that certain things that can handle pressing and some things need to be like printed.
20:03
SPEAKER_02: Um and it's the same thing with jewelry.
20:06
SPEAKER_02: Like we typically try to stick with stainless steel because we want um, we want everything to be water resistant.
20:12
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
20:12
SPEAKER_02: Cause I want to be the girl that like emerges from the ocean with my hair and just like decked out like a mermaid that just found a shipwreck.
20:20
SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
20:20
SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, that's what I want.
20:22
SPEAKER_02: But the thing with stainless steel is that it's really heavy.
20:25
SPEAKER_02: So, because it's like steel, you know.
20:28
SPEAKER_02: Um, so like we've been mixing, like trying mixed metals and like just trying to see which one is has like more longevity and and that sort of thing.
20:36
SPEAKER_02: But there is a learning curve to it.
20:38
SPEAKER_02: And then there's like the packaging, because like some of the vendors don't have their own packaging, so then you have to have to find like a packaging vendor and then to find out which pieces fit best into which packages.
20:48
SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's a lot.
20:49
SPEAKER_02: It is a lot, it is essentially a whole other line.
20:52
SPEAKER_02: We try to put as much information out there as possible.
20:54
SPEAKER_02: So we'll like put what it I think there's like pictures of me in all the side slit tea listings of what it looks like me wearing a small through a 2x, and it shows like my yeah, like my height, so that you can kind of see.
21:06
SPEAKER_02: And I have like really short legs and a long torso.
21:08
SPEAKER_02: I'm built like a corgi.
21:11
SPEAKER_02: A corgi.
21:12
SPEAKER_02: Can we take that's we were looking at a corgi this weekend, and I was like, this looks familiar.
21:18
SPEAKER_02: Like a long ass torso and tiny arms and legs.
21:22
SPEAKER_02: Like it's true.
21:25
SPEAKER_02: It's true.
21:27
SPEAKER_01: Oh, that should that might be one of the funnier things.
21:29
SPEAKER_01: I'm built like a corgi.
21:34
SPEAKER_01: That's fucking great.
21:35
SPEAKER_01: So, okay, so give us a snapshot.
21:37
SPEAKER_01: So this this thing is blown up.
21:39
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
21:40
SPEAKER_01: Like, tell me, like, you know, because my some of my community might be new to Pebby.
21:45
SPEAKER_01: Like, what you started with$40, you've been around for over a decade.
21:50
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, 13 years.
21:51
SPEAKER_01: You're 13 years old.
21:52
SPEAKER_01: Now you're diversifying.
21:54
SPEAKER_01: I see beanies, I see sunglasses, which I was I need those sunglasses, by the way, you had on.
21:59
SPEAKER_01: Um that's Another thing you do.
22:00
SPEAKER_01: You sell the shit.
22:01
SPEAKER_01: Like when you wear it, it sells.
22:03
SPEAKER_01: Um, and like all these graphs, I mean, you have so much shit.
22:07
SPEAKER_01: We have a lot of shit.
22:08
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we have a lot of shit.
22:09
SPEAKER_01: So you're like banging.
22:12
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
22:13
SPEAKER_02: We've had we've definitely um expanded a lot over the last two, two and a half years.
22:20
SPEAKER_02: And I will say, this is not, this is not a lie.
22:23
SPEAKER_02: This is not a shameless plug.
22:25
SPEAKER_02: I could not do it without my team.
22:27
SPEAKER_02: Like having somebody handle the operation side of it, having somebody specifically handle customer service, like being able to step out of the business has been a game changer.
22:39
SPEAKER_02: Because if I'm not in there, like once I could remove myself from doing and actually working on the business, my mind is free to create and think of so many other things.
22:49
SPEAKER_02: And that's been so important.
22:51
SPEAKER_02: If there was one thing that I could go back and change, is that I would invest in the people to work for me sooner instead of being so afraid and untrusting to hand it over.
22:59
SPEAKER_01: Well, I think you just looking at the background and how you came up, the scarcity mindset goes with that.
23:06
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
23:06
SPEAKER_01: Right?
23:06
SPEAKER_01: So why me?
23:07
SPEAKER_01: And oh my God, I have to protect my nuts.
23:09
SPEAKER_01: Like, you're like a squirrel protecting your nuts.
23:12
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
23:12
SPEAKER_01: And in some ways, as you're cutting your teeth and you're coming up, in some ways that can create a conservative mentality that could be help, you know, helpful for a healthy business.
23:22
SPEAKER_01: But when you have the good fortune of growing and having something that takes, that scarcity mindset has to turn to abundance at some point.
23:32
SPEAKER_01: Otherwise, you're gonna stifle yourself.
23:33
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
23:34
SPEAKER_02: That's exactly, and that's exactly what happened is a couple of years ago, I became so trapped.
23:39
SPEAKER_02: Like, I was like, imagine me like like crammed up against a ceiling.
23:43
SPEAKER_02: Like I could not handle anything more on my plate to the point where I was contacting like attorneys and stuff like that to sell it.
23:49
SPEAKER_02: Cause I'm like, I cannot stay like this.
23:51
SPEAKER_02: Like everything that I had once loved about it became like inhibiting.
23:57
SPEAKER_02: I just couldn't, I couldn't escape it.
23:58
SPEAKER_02: Like I I didn't really love it anymore.
24:01
SPEAKER_02: And it me, and the fact that I didn't love it anymore was more devastating than anything because it used to be something that I loved to do so much.
24:07
SPEAKER_02: Now, obviously, that's since changed.
24:10
SPEAKER_02: Um and that's I mean, if I could give anybody advice who runs a business, it would be to invest in your people and invest wisely.
24:18
SPEAKER_02: You know, I hired um business coaches to help me get into the right mindset, to help me figure out what I really, really, really wanted to do.
24:25
SPEAKER_02: Like, do you really like to take pictures, Liz?
24:28
SPEAKER_02: Or do you just like to do that because that's the most favorite thing out of everything you do?
24:32
SPEAKER_02: But if you didn't even have to do that, what would you do?
24:35
SPEAKER_02: So they've really helped like having like life coaches and business coaches was a game changer as well.
24:41
SPEAKER_02: Like I invested in myself so that I can invest in other people.
24:44
SPEAKER_01: You know, I think that's huge.
24:45
SPEAKER_01: And I think a lot of people um they either get too busy or they don't know.
24:49
SPEAKER_01: It's kind of like finding a um a therapist.
24:52
SPEAKER_01: It's hard to find a fit energetically or personality or experience-wise, but you know, you don't know what you don't know.
24:59
SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
25:00
SPEAKER_01: You're gonna stay in the same spot.
25:01
SPEAKER_01: And that's the thing that perspective and experience can really show you like a different path.
25:07
SPEAKER_01: And I do think you're right, like with entrepreneurs, I think some of it's ego, like I built this, you know, I'm the only one that can um can do it this way.
25:15
SPEAKER_01: And I'm, you know, I'm it we all do it as business owners.
25:19
SPEAKER_01: Uh part of it, I think, is um lack of being able to delegate, you know, trust but verify.
25:25
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
25:26
SPEAKER_01: Because no one's gonna love your baby the way that you do.
25:28
SPEAKER_01: But really, I mean, the crux of it is like if you can't figure out a way to hold on loosely, um, you won't, you're, you're not gonna get where you want to go.
25:37
SPEAKER_01: No.
25:37
SPEAKER_01: If if growth is if growth is where you want to go.
25:40
SPEAKER_02: Right.
25:40
SPEAKER_02: And I had to ask myself at one point, like, am I the only one that can do this?
25:45
SPEAKER_02: And do I want that to be true?
25:47
SPEAKER_02: Because if I'm the only one that can do this, I'm fucked.
25:49
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
25:49
SPEAKER_02: I'm fucked.
25:50
SPEAKER_02: I'll never escape it.
25:52
SPEAKER_02: So, like, even if I hire somebody and they can do it 80% of what I do, that's fantastic.
25:58
SPEAKER_02: That means I'm only correcting or guiding or teaching the 20%.
26:02
SPEAKER_02: So sign me up.
26:04
SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
26:05
SPEAKER_02: Like it was like a little bit of an investment.
26:07
SPEAKER_02: It probably took about a year by the time I hired the coaches to the time I hired um Christy, who's my operation, now she's vice president, but it took a while for me to hire her.
26:18
SPEAKER_02: Um, but that was like the best decision I think I've ever made was hiring somebody who knew what they were doing.
26:24
SPEAKER_02: And they knew how to do all the things I didn't want to do.
26:27
SPEAKER_02: And the things that I didn't want to do, she she was also really good at figuring out like how to hire people for the things that I did want to do.
26:36
SPEAKER_02: So she was just super instrumental in helping me figure out like what the hell to do with like all of like the staff and the operation side of it.
26:44
SPEAKER_02: And so yeah, like since then, like my gosh, we've had way more things launched.
26:48
SPEAKER_02: We have we have some really exciting things, the bracelets with like the bandanas and the charms, like that sold all super quick.
26:53
SPEAKER_02: And I'm so excited about that because for the last couple of years, I've kind of had to like take a step back with my followers and like my people and like my girls, because I was just like constantly in survival mode.
27:05
SPEAKER_02: But now, because of things being handled a certain way, I'm able to get back into it and do what I really love, which is connect with my followers and my and my girls, as I call them.
27:14
SPEAKER_02: So, like that bandana bracelet, which I'm wearing one now.
27:17
SPEAKER_02: Um, it helps me like connect, like I'll be able to build this with them.
27:21
SPEAKER_02: Like we're gonna have like a live event where we all get together and it's like girl time, you know, it's like girl talk.
27:27
SPEAKER_02: I love my girls.
27:27
SPEAKER_02: I'm a girls girl.
27:28
SPEAKER_02: I love that.
27:29
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm excited.
27:29
SPEAKER_02: I'm excited to be able to connect with my followers again.
27:32
SPEAKER_02: I used to do it all the time.
27:33
SPEAKER_01: Well, I feel like you've also had, you know, when you're building a business, I mean, you're still a human being, right?
27:39
SPEAKER_01: So like it becomes so all-encompassing to build.
27:41
SPEAKER_01: It's like that's what you you identify with it and everything else, but you're just this person trying to figure out how to juggle raising Harper and, you know, being a good mom and trying not to fuck everything up.
27:52
SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's just we're constantly feeling like that.
27:54
SPEAKER_01: And so your mental health oftentimes sort of takes a back seat, right?
28:00
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
28:00
SPEAKER_01: And what I find so interesting with you is you're very reserved.
28:08
SPEAKER_01: Like you, you, you are afraid to speak up, or this is you were, you've had this in the past where you know, you come off like a very like quietly confident person.
28:18
SPEAKER_01: Um, but hearing you talk about sort of like the internal dialogue that would go on before you could even open your mouth to speak, you know, is like that's like a prison we put ourselves in.
28:30
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
28:30
SPEAKER_02: It got really bad, like two, two to three years ago.
28:36
SPEAKER_02: Um I had essentially lost all sense of self and everything that I was worth, and everything that I became was like wrapped up in the brand.
28:47
SPEAKER_02: So whenever I would leave the house, for example, more times than not, like I and it's not like I would really even go anywhere.
28:55
SPEAKER_02: I would go to Target, but someone would say, like, Oh my god, I love you, I follow you on Instagram, which is fantastic.
29:00
SPEAKER_02: Like at one point in my life, I wanted that.
29:03
SPEAKER_02: I prayed for that.
29:04
SPEAKER_02: Like I wanted it so bad.
29:07
SPEAKER_02: And then it became to the point where I felt disconnected at work.
29:11
SPEAKER_02: I felt like my relationships were failing left and right.
29:14
SPEAKER_02: Um, the relationships with my family weren't getting any better.
29:16
SPEAKER_02: So I just kept like pushing into my business, but then the business is really all I had.
29:21
SPEAKER_02: And so whenever people would greet me, it was like a mirror to my life.
29:27
SPEAKER_02: Like I really, I don't even know how to explain it.
29:30
SPEAKER_02: It just I felt very hollow.
29:31
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
29:32
SPEAKER_02: I felt extremely hollow.
29:34
SPEAKER_02: And then I felt like like a liar, like a fake, you know, saying, like, oh, love yourself.
29:40
SPEAKER_02: And like I did mean it, but I also didn't have like the bandwidth or like the mental capacity to constantly talk about it as well.
29:48
SPEAKER_02: And I had also lost weight.
29:50
SPEAKER_02: And so people like my followers, that was something I struggled with, was like the sometimes the followers would get like their feelings hurt.
29:57
SPEAKER_02: They felt like I was like leaving them behind because I had lost weight.
30:00
SPEAKER_02: But the thing is, is that like I've always been someone that has gained weight and lost weight and gained weight and lost weight.
30:05
SPEAKER_02: It just, it's like a season, like it just depends on what I'm going through.
30:09
SPEAKER_02: Um, but that was also like a weird identity shift was I was a brand that was associated with being curvy, mid-size slash plus size.
30:21
SPEAKER_02: So does that mean, and I honestly had to ask myself this.
30:24
SPEAKER_02: Like, I struggled for a while when I started to lose weight.
30:27
SPEAKER_02: Like, what are they gonna do?
30:31
SPEAKER_02: How are they gonna feel?
30:32
SPEAKER_01: Because I have felt that stress and inflammation take a toll on your body and your wellness.
30:40
SPEAKER_01: Relax, restore, and rejuvenate at Panacea Luxury Spa Boutique, book any service of$100 or more and enjoy two hours in our luxury amenities, unwind in our Himalayan salt saunas, recharge in our wet retreat space with a eucalyptus steam room, hot hydrotherapy pool, and cold plunge.
31:01
SPEAKER_01: Then drift into deep relaxation with our hanging loungers.
31:05
SPEAKER_01: What's your panacea?
31:07
SPEAKER_01: We'll help you find it.
31:09
SPEAKER_01: I have a new obsession and I need to put you on it.
31:12
SPEAKER_01: Mia Santiago is a celebrity stylist right here in UA, and she's the only person I trust with my hair.
31:19
SPEAKER_01: Her precision cuts grow out perfectly, and she's created something unreal.
31:24
SPEAKER_01: Headspace by Mia, her cheek scalp spa.
31:28
SPEAKER_01: It's not just a hair appointment, honey.
31:30
SPEAKER_01: It's a full-on reset.
31:32
SPEAKER_01: Your scalp gets healthy, your hair looks expensive, and your nervous system finally exhales.
31:39
SPEAKER_01: If winter has you feeling dry, tired, or overstimulated, this is your moment.
31:45
SPEAKER_01: Go book with Mia Santiago and her amazing team.
31:48
SPEAKER_01: You'll leave glowing, you'll feel lighter, and yes, you'll thank me after.
31:55
SPEAKER_02: Like whenever I was like in my early 20s, if my friends lost weight, I would feel like threatened or like I was being left behind.
32:04
SPEAKER_02: Um, and I know that that was me, but I remember feeling like that.
32:07
SPEAKER_02: And I didn't want to put any of my followers through that either.
32:10
SPEAKER_02: Um, so anyways, there was just like a lot going on, like for the last couple of years.
32:16
SPEAKER_01: Um What kind of that that's a lot of pressure for you.
32:19
SPEAKER_01: You know, because I understand it, right?
32:20
SPEAKER_01: You have a loyal band of amazing women, you know, and like they're watching your everything.
32:26
SPEAKER_01: They're watching.
32:27
SPEAKER_01: Like I was earlier today.
32:28
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, damn, this girl.
32:30
SPEAKER_01: So I I get it.
32:31
SPEAKER_01: I get the draw.
32:32
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
32:33
SPEAKER_02: I take my responsibility, like the responsibility that I have with my followers very seriously.
32:37
SPEAKER_02: And again, I'm thinking like the next step too.
32:39
SPEAKER_02: Like, what if my losing weight affects sales?
32:42
SPEAKER_02: That's gonna affect the people that work for me.
32:45
SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm constantly thinking of like how my actions affect other people.
32:50
SPEAKER_02: And so since my brand is wrapped up in that, it's like I can't ever, at the time I felt like I couldn't really ever escape that.
32:56
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
32:57
SPEAKER_02: Like it wasn't separated.
32:59
SPEAKER_01: But I think truly, like, and again, it's easier for me to like say from the bleachers, but you're allowed, like if you want to go get your hair cut tomorrow and get all, you know, have a if you want to go like whatever the fuck you want to do, if you want to lose 30 more pounds, you're allowed to do whatever you want to do.
33:20
SPEAKER_01: This is your human experience.
33:22
SPEAKER_01: I think as long as you're transparent with people and open, right?
33:27
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I definitely feel that way now.
33:28
SPEAKER_02: I had to, like, I I went on like a little trip this last spring.
33:33
SPEAKER_02: Right.
33:33
SPEAKER_02: Um, to kind of connect to that feeling again.
33:35
SPEAKER_02: Because for a long time, I think I actually lost connection with the fact that I was human.
33:40
SPEAKER_02: Like, because I had to show up every single day.
33:42
SPEAKER_02: I was still in survival mode, even if I didn't need to be in survival mode anymore.
33:46
SPEAKER_02: It was just like a learned pattern.
33:48
SPEAKER_02: And I had neglected my feelings, the things that I truly wanted, like as far as the way that I felt and the way that the things I wanted for my personal life.
33:57
SPEAKER_02: Um, I just gotten so used to not thinking about it that it I'd lost complete connection with it.
34:03
SPEAKER_02: Let's talk about that little trip to Coastal.
34:08
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
34:08
SPEAKER_02: So I was, it was about this time last year, and I was lying in bed, which I never do, and watching Netflix, which I never do.
34:17
SPEAKER_02: I wasn't sick and I wasn't depressed, but I was definitely just like empt empty.
34:26
SPEAKER_02: Hollow.
34:26
SPEAKER_02: Hollow is the only word I can think about.
34:28
SPEAKER_02: And I remember like looking around and thinking, like, kind of like being very critical of myself, like, you're so ungrateful.
34:34
SPEAKER_02: Like you asked for all of this.
34:36
SPEAKER_02: This is what you wanted.
34:37
SPEAKER_02: You wanted this responsibility.
34:39
SPEAKER_02: You have it.
34:40
SPEAKER_02: Now you have it, and now you're complaining.
34:41
SPEAKER_02: It was just, I was not being kind to myself.
34:45
SPEAKER_02: Um, but also, like, I mean, if there if there's anything about me, I said if I don't know, I will find out.
34:52
SPEAKER_02: Like, I I I'll do whatever it takes to find out.
34:55
SPEAKER_02: Um, so I was watching some some random documentary came up, and it was this Aaron Rodgers documentary called Enigma.
35:04
SPEAKER_02: I sort of watch I've watched some of that.
35:06
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so like the I remember I was just like like kind of scrolling through my phone again, which I don't do, which is insane.
35:12
SPEAKER_02: It was just like divine intervention, honestly.
35:14
SPEAKER_02: But then this I was half listening, and then this one part came up where he was talking about how he went to this retreat in Costa Rica and it's called Behold.
35:23
SPEAKER_02: And um he was talking about how it has healing properties.
35:27
SPEAKER_02: Now, at the time, I could barely leave the house.
35:31
SPEAKER_02: I would go to Target and I would go to work, and that was essentially it.
35:36
SPEAKER_02: Um, even at like my daughter's soccer practice, I would like stand back.
35:39
SPEAKER_02: I didn't want to talk to anybody.
35:40
SPEAKER_02: Like, I mean, if people said something to me, I would smile.
35:43
SPEAKER_02: But like I remember like I would like smile at people because I don't want to be rude or come off like snobby or anything.
35:48
SPEAKER_02: But if if someone came over to me and had small, like tried to small talk with me, I'd have like anxiety.
35:53
SPEAKER_02: Like, like, oh my God, I'm not gonna remember their name.
35:56
SPEAKER_02: What if they say something and I don't know how to respond?
35:58
SPEAKER_02: What if I offend them?
35:59
SPEAKER_02: Like anxiety, like I've never really felt before and for no reason.
36:03
SPEAKER_02: But I remember watching that documentary and thinking, this is it.
36:07
SPEAKER_02: Like I've been in therapy for years.
36:09
SPEAKER_02: I've had life coaches, I've talked to friends, I've read the books, I've done the podcasts, like I've I mean, I've read the podcast or listened to the podcast, like I've done so much.
36:20
SPEAKER_02: I've saved so many things from Pinterest, I have so many things saved from Instagram.
36:24
SPEAKER_02: Like nothing is sticking.
36:26
SPEAKER_02: So what the hell do I have to lose?
36:28
SPEAKER_02: So it wasn't even through the first episode of him talking about it, I had it booked.
36:34
SPEAKER_02: Like I was just like, whatever.
36:35
SPEAKER_02: I couldn't, no, I couldn't even leave the house.
36:37
SPEAKER_02: And I've only left the country one other time.
36:39
SPEAKER_02: It was for a mission trip, but like whenever I was 15.
36:42
SPEAKER_02: But and like I I was so I was I was like, whatever.
36:46
SPEAKER_02: Like I have it's either that or this.
36:49
SPEAKER_02: And I would rather try that than stay here where I am because this is not working.
36:54
SPEAKER_02: So I booked the trip and then I went on a flight and I just left.
37:00
SPEAKER_02: I just did it.
37:01
SPEAKER_02: Like my fiance at the time was just like, like he was supportive.
37:05
SPEAKER_02: He was very like, this is so not like you.
37:07
SPEAKER_02: Are you okay?
37:09
SPEAKER_02: Like he was he was definitely concerned, which if the rules were reversed, I would be concerned too.
37:15
SPEAKER_02: Um, especially because, like, I mean, he got me like tickets to go to a concert that I wanted to go to as like a birthday present, and it was the day of, and I remember calling him and sobbing and being like, I can't go.
37:24
SPEAKER_02: I'm so sorry I can't go.
37:26
SPEAKER_02: I wish I could remember.
37:28
SPEAKER_02: I don't remember.
37:29
SPEAKER_02: It was actually, actually, I do remember because it was unlikely.
37:33
SPEAKER_02: I wanted to go to the Morgan Wallen concert, which is funny because I'm not a country music person, but I don't know, I must have liked his songs at the time.
37:40
SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
37:41
SPEAKER_02: But also, country concerts are fun.
37:42
SPEAKER_02: No, really fun.
37:43
SPEAKER_02: They're unhinged.
37:44
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, they're not.
37:45
SPEAKER_02: Like country people are fun.
37:46
SPEAKER_02: My funnest friend is a country pumpkin.
37:48
SPEAKER_02: She is fucking hilarious.
37:50
SPEAKER_02: But and she's she's like like a country girl, but yeah, country concerts are fun.
37:55
SPEAKER_02: But so I remember calling him and being like, I can't go, and that was like earlier that year.
38:00
SPEAKER_02: But so yeah, I went to Costa Rica.
38:02
SPEAKER_02: Um, it was all like pre-planned.
38:06
SPEAKER_02: So somebody picked you up from the airport, um, they took you to the retreat, and I was there with nine other people the whole time.
38:14
SPEAKER_02: They had like a chef, you had a strict diet.
38:17
SPEAKER_02: Um, the same people that were in that documentary were there for me.
38:20
SPEAKER_02: So if you watch it again, there's like Danny and Sarah, and you know, Aaron Rodgers was not there.
38:26
SPEAKER_02: Aaron.
38:26
SPEAKER_02: A girl can wish.
38:27
SPEAKER_02: Aaron, if you see this, a girl can wish.
38:29
SPEAKER_02: A girl can tag him.
38:30
SPEAKER_02: A girl can drink at Aaron Rodgers.
38:32
SPEAKER_02: Liz loves you.
38:35
SPEAKER_02: But he was uh he wasn't there, but it was it was incredible.
38:39
SPEAKER_02: And you know what's funny is that one of the reasons why I left the country is because I was so unattached from my authentic self and so afraid to be my authentic self.
38:51
SPEAKER_02: Like I didn't even know who that person was or what it would look like to get like get to meet her.
38:57
SPEAKER_02: So I wanted, I was so afraid of how it was pe perceived all the time.
39:00
SPEAKER_02: Like fear of perception is real.
39:02
SPEAKER_02: So I was like, I'm gonna leave the country if because what if I what if something happens whenever I drink the juice or whatever and like I'm acting like a freak or like what if I have like a bad reaction?
39:11
SPEAKER_02: I'm always so afraid of how people are gonna like look at me or perceive me.
39:15
SPEAKER_02: So I'm like, I'm just leaving the country.
39:16
SPEAKER_02: Like nobody there is gonna know me.
39:18
SPEAKER_02: This is great.
39:19
SPEAKER_02: The day before I left, there was this person on there, and I found out because we had like a Zoom call where we could meet like the other nine people that were gonna be on the trip, and they were like, Oh, my name is Craig, and I'm from Dublin.
39:28
SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, what the?
39:29
SPEAKER_02: Are you fucking kidding me?
39:31
SPEAKER_02: But you know what's wild is that we live so close together that we actually go to the same Starbucks.
39:36
SPEAKER_02: It's like stop.
39:37
SPEAKER_02: I know.
39:37
SPEAKER_02: And so now he and I see him you're like, What's up?
39:40
SPEAKER_02: What's up, boo?
39:41
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
39:42
SPEAKER_02: And it was just crazy how we were both like, what are the chances that we're on the same trip?
39:48
SPEAKER_02: So there was a few other people there from Ohio too, which is nuts, but they live a little further away.
39:53
SPEAKER_02: But I'm like, man, could take the girl out of Ohio, but right, not so the girl.
39:58
SPEAKER_01: Fast forward to today, it was like completely life-changing.
40:03
SPEAKER_01: Like, do you?
40:04
SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm sure you still feel some of those feelings, like the percept, like the fear and the, but is it like like muted or what's what's different today?
40:12
SPEAKER_01: What's it changed?
40:14
SPEAKER_02: So just to preface it, it is a complete like behold is a very responsible and like guided community.
40:23
SPEAKER_02: So you met with the guides before you partook.
40:27
SPEAKER_02: Um, they were around constantly to support you.
40:30
SPEAKER_02: Um, there was also a lot of downtimes for you to journal or to go for a walk, and like they have this beautiful pool so you could be in the pool and like kind of process everything that was happening.
40:39
SPEAKER_02: So the first night I hallucinated, I remember seeing like this little fuzzy, like it's kind of like a like a little baby bird.
40:48
SPEAKER_02: Like she was like orange and just kind of fuzzy.
40:50
SPEAKER_02: And then there was this being that came to like my like vision and my eyes were closed, but I remember it looking like, you know, like the um light brights.
41:00
SPEAKER_02: Um that's what it looked like.
41:02
SPEAKER_02: It was just like this light, it was like an outline of it.
41:04
SPEAKER_02: And I remember her saying, Are you ready to go?
41:07
SPEAKER_02: And like this little being was like me as like a little kid.
41:09
SPEAKER_02: And I was like, Okay, yeah, let's go.
41:12
SPEAKER_02: So then we literally like she took me through like my childhood and just it was I the reason I did it is because I had like a lot of I had a lot of healing.
41:22
SPEAKER_02: I had a lot of aching for the family that I've always wanted and never had.
41:28
SPEAKER_02: Um and this does not apply to like all of my family, especially not my extended family, but as far as my as far as my immediate family, I remember asking at one vision, at one vision I was talking to God, and God looked like Mount Rushmore.
41:44
SPEAKER_02: He was like made of stone.
41:46
SPEAKER_02: And I remember asking him, like, why doesn't my family love me?
41:51
SPEAKER_02: And he was just like, they're just not those kinds of people.
41:54
SPEAKER_02: And in that minute, I had like instant release from having this like aching and this desire to be seen and heard and valued and loved by them.
42:03
SPEAKER_02: It was something that I have had spent hundreds, like not hundreds, but thousands of dollars on in therapy for to try to grasp.
42:10
SPEAKER_02: And up until that point, I just could not accept it.
42:12
SPEAKER_02: But in that moment, and from that moment on, I've never looked back.
42:15
SPEAKER_02: It's just like they're just not like that.
42:18
SPEAKER_02: And then I remember asking, like, well, why did I get that?
42:21
SPEAKER_02: Because that's like, I am not perfect by any means, but I've always wanted a family.
42:25
SPEAKER_02: I remember whenever I was little, I would watch movies, and I wanted like the kind of families at the end of the movie where it would pan out and like they would all be at the table, like smiling and laughing, and like passing like mashed potatoes.
42:39
SPEAKER_02: And it just we never had that.
42:43
SPEAKER_02: We never had anything even closely resembling to that.
42:47
SPEAKER_02: Like, and I remember asking him, like, why didn't I have that?
42:50
SPEAKER_02: Like, it just seems so simple and pathetic that that's what I wanted so badly of.
42:57
SPEAKER_02: And he's like, some like, and I the I have no bad feelings about it.
43:00
SPEAKER_02: He was just like, sometimes you're just dealt a shit hard.
43:03
SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, You're right.
43:06
SPEAKER_01: It's it's um, so I watched you, you gave that, you kind of talked about that on your Instagram.
43:11
SPEAKER_01: Like I told you earlier, I watched the whole thing, and it I got so weirdly emotional when you described it as the little girl.
43:19
SPEAKER_01: I like, I had tears coming down because it was like the the way you described it is like, holy shit.
43:25
SPEAKER_01: Like if this medicine or ayahuasca or whatever can access something like that in somebody's brain, like like that is so powerful that you saw what looked like a little girl and like this protector or whatever.
43:40
SPEAKER_01: Like, that is just like it hit me.
43:41
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
43:42
SPEAKER_01: In this way of like, holy shit.
43:44
SPEAKER_02: It was like the soul of little Liz.
43:47
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
43:48
SPEAKER_02: Like so innocent and just like, you know, like baby birds have like fuzzy-ish hair.
43:52
SPEAKER_02: That's kind of like what I saw.
43:54
SPEAKER_02: Like, so innocent and just so like pure.
43:59
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was great.
44:00
SPEAKER_02: Crazy.
44:01
SPEAKER_01: Speaking of family, um has it been weird?
44:05
SPEAKER_01: Like as you have gotten successful and you've gotten to be well known, I'm sure you've received some uh mixed reviews from the people closest to you.
44:16
SPEAKER_01: And I'm almost certain some of it's been disappointing.
44:19
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
44:20
SPEAKER_02: How do you handle that?
44:24
SPEAKER_02: Um so my my immediate family and I have never been close.
44:35
SPEAKER_02: Um I think that something that like I've just recently, and by recently I mean within the last week, have come to terms with is that sometimes whenever you move through something or you respond to your higher calling, like a higher way of being, moving yourself into a different frequency.
45:02
SPEAKER_02: Sometimes the people that you know can take that as like a threat or that you're leaving them behind.
45:09
SPEAKER_02: Um, and it's easier for them to make you ugly versus holding up the mirror to themselves and asking themselves why they haven't done the work.
45:21
SPEAKER_02: Or, you know, if you're an avoidant, you're not gonna turn that mirror back on you.
45:27
SPEAKER_02: You're gonna turn it back on somebody else.
45:29
SPEAKER_02: And I the thing is that I don't think that it's malicious.
45:32
SPEAKER_02: I don't think that they're doing it to be malicious or intentionally hateful.
45:38
SPEAKER_02: I really think that they're actually kind of subconscious to it.
45:40
SPEAKER_02: I don't know that they realize that like the things that they say and the things that they do are either made up in their heads.
45:46
SPEAKER_02: It's literally a story that they're telling themselves, they're leaving out convenient truths to like supply themselves with facts that would support their own state of delusion of the way things happened or how I treated them or whatever, like because it could not be further from what actually happened.
46:05
SPEAKER_02: Um and so as far as like my family goes, I mean, I went and did ayahuasca to get actually healing from that void.
46:12
SPEAKER_02: Like if I could describe it, it would be that I have forever since then, or up until then, walked around with like a big black hole in my chest.
46:20
SPEAKER_02: Imagine like my whole chest cavity just empty.
46:23
SPEAKER_02: That's where my family and like the love that I wanted for my family to go.
46:26
SPEAKER_02: And I've tried to fill that up with all different kinds of things: success, lip filler, like everything, like everything I could possibly think of to fill it.
46:36
SPEAKER_02: But it just didn't work.
46:37
SPEAKER_02: So, like now though, that has been like that area is is fine.
46:41
SPEAKER_02: It's been filled, it's cleansed, it's it's okay.
46:46
SPEAKER_02: Um, I found out or like come to terms with recently that like every single person in your life, every single person is a mirror for you.
46:59
SPEAKER_02: So I've been trying to figure out like, why do I keep attracting people that I eventually outgrow?
47:06
SPEAKER_02: And I don't mean it in a way where like I become better than them or higher than them.
47:09
SPEAKER_02: It's just that things like my relationships work for a little bit and then they just don't.
47:14
SPEAKER_02: And it's because I'm a grower.
47:15
SPEAKER_02: Like I don't stay in one place.
47:17
SPEAKER_02: I'm so curious about like patterns and mindsets and frequencies and higher ways of being and like all of those, all of that kind of like all of those kinds of things.
47:28
SPEAKER_02: Um, but I keep attracting people that don't respond to it in the same way that I do.
47:35
SPEAKER_02: And what happens is at no fault of their their own, really, because I attracted them to me.
47:41
SPEAKER_02: Like I believe in laws of attraction and all of that.
47:43
SPEAKER_02: So like I sourced it.
47:45
SPEAKER_02: This is me being in full responsibility for having failed relationships.
47:48
SPEAKER_02: The person that was attracting them, my ex-husband, my most recent failed engagement.
47:54
SPEAKER_02: When I was attracting them, I was still attracting people from an unhealed space.
47:59
SPEAKER_02: And so not having done the work, and it's not like I wasn't doing the work on purpose.
48:04
SPEAKER_02: I didn't know what it was.
48:06
SPEAKER_02: I thought that I had been able to like pinpoint areas of my life where, you know, needed fixed.
48:14
SPEAKER_02: But then I found out that actually the idea of even thinking that you needed to be fixed is is actually a problem in and of itself because you're whole and fine just the way that you are.
48:23
SPEAKER_02: Um so I'm kind of babbling now.
48:27
SPEAKER_02: But that's that's like probably the biggest takeaway that I've had this year this year.
48:32
SPEAKER_02: Ever since I've done ayahuasca, it's just been like one revelation after the other.
48:36
SPEAKER_02: And like they told us that.
48:37
SPEAKER_02: They're like, this is just the beginning.
48:39
SPEAKER_02: Like, whenever you go home, you could be doing something, and then three months later, you're gonna be like, holy shit.
48:45
SPEAKER_02: Like it just keeps giving and giving and giving.
48:47
SPEAKER_02: And if I had never done ayahuasca, and like remember, I had to leave the country in order to feel that free.
48:55
SPEAKER_02: Like I could not do it here.
48:57
SPEAKER_02: I would have never done it.
48:58
SPEAKER_02: I would not have joined like this.
49:01
SPEAKER_02: Hawking Hills.
49:02
SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, yeah.
49:04
SPEAKER_01: I mean, no shit.
49:05
SPEAKER_01: I mean, Hawking Hills is great, but it's just too close.
49:07
SPEAKER_01: It's too close.
49:08
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
49:08
SPEAKER_02: I just, I don't, yeah, I needed to like physically and just emotionally like check out and be free to explore whatever was inside.
49:16
SPEAKER_02: And I remember whenever I was there, um, I kind of felt like whenever I arrived, I was like a turtle in a shell.
49:22
SPEAKER_02: Like I'd kind of like poke my head out and then like go back in.
49:24
SPEAKER_02: And by the end of it, I was telling the group, like, I feel like whenever I go back home, I'm gonna have to be like, hi, I'm Liz.
49:32
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
49:32
SPEAKER_02: So people have known me for years.
49:34
SPEAKER_02: Cause I like something inside me had just been like cracked open.
49:38
SPEAKER_02: It's like, you know, like those like little glow sticks where you crack them and then there's light.
49:42
SPEAKER_02: Like, that's what I felt like.
49:44
SPEAKER_02: And it's just the confidence that I got from that.
49:46
SPEAKER_02: And I also realized whenever I was there, like I crave connections so bad, but I was also so terrified of it.
49:54
SPEAKER_02: Like, I want to be vulnerable with people.
49:58
SPEAKER_02: I want to be authentic.
50:00
SPEAKER_02: I want to be like my goofy, unhinged self.
50:04
SPEAKER_01: Sisterly.
50:05
SPEAKER_02: Sisterly, yeah.
50:06
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
50:07
SPEAKER_01: Have you done it?
50:08
SPEAKER_02: Sisterly?
50:09
SPEAKER_01: The voice.
50:09
SPEAKER_01: Since you like, have you?
50:11
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
50:12
SPEAKER_02: I have done Sister Ling.
50:13
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
50:14
SPEAKER_02: Is it Sister L Sister Ling?
50:16
SPEAKER_02: Sister Ling, yeah.
50:17
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
50:17
SPEAKER_02: Sister Ling.
50:18
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
50:18
SPEAKER_01: And it's like a like you're like you're on helium.
50:23
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, how did you hear about Sister Ling?
50:25
SPEAKER_01: I'm a low-key stalker.
50:26
SPEAKER_01: You ain't got to worry.
50:28
SPEAKER_01: The research that goes on over here, like I would get restraining orders put against you with people.
50:32
SPEAKER_01: I'm telling you.
50:33
SPEAKER_01: Like I constantly, I'm if I know somebody's coming on the show, I will just like drive deep.
50:38
SPEAKER_02: I don't even know that.
50:39
SPEAKER_02: I'm actually very fascinated with how you know that.
50:42
SPEAKER_02: So yeah, Sister Ling is helium.
50:45
SPEAKER_01: It sounds like you're on helium.
50:46
SPEAKER_02: It's almost like a little kid, and like my persona becomes like a little kid.
50:50
SPEAKER_02: So you can do it.
50:52
SPEAKER_02: I will do it.
50:53
SPEAKER_02: Also say that like whenever I came back, I I wouldn't even laugh without second guessing myself.
50:59
SPEAKER_02: So like I remember hearing Christy laughing in like another room at work, and she has such like a bold, like ha ha ha ha ha, like laugh.
51:09
SPEAKER_02: And I remember being like envious, like, oh my God, like I wish I could be that unhinged and just laugh.
51:14
SPEAKER_02: But even then, like before I did ayahuasca, it was like I would had to hesitate and like make sure that I didn't laugh at something inappropriate, that I didn't laugh too loud, that I wasn't disruptive.
51:24
SPEAKER_02: I mean, you want to talk about like shrinking yourself in every way possible.
51:28
SPEAKER_02: Like it was like every part of me was contained, which was obviously miserable.
51:32
SPEAKER_02: So whenever I came back, I'm like, one of my goals is to just be able to laugh without even thinking about it.
51:37
SPEAKER_02: Say something without stopping myself first and being like, should I say this?
51:42
SPEAKER_02: Will this offend them?
51:43
SPEAKER_00: Right.
51:44
SPEAKER_02: What if it gets misconceived?
51:45
SPEAKER_02: Like, like everything.
51:46
SPEAKER_02: I stopped myself with everything.
51:48
SPEAKER_02: So yeah, oh yeah, I do sisterling all the time now.
51:52
SPEAKER_02: So I don't even know how to put it into context because it's not gonna make sense.
51:56
SPEAKER_02: But like whenever I walk into a room, oh my God.
52:01
SPEAKER_02: Okay, let me get it.
52:02
SPEAKER_01: Wait, hold on.
52:02
SPEAKER_01: I gotta get, you'll give you, I'll send this to you for your own.
52:05
SPEAKER_02: This is for sure gonna send the men running when they hear this.
52:09
SPEAKER_02: This is what's gonna do it.
52:11
SPEAKER_01: This is how you might meet your like future.
52:14
SPEAKER_01: This is what I'm saying I'm telling you.
52:15
SPEAKER_02: You meet your real people when you're like Yeah, like completely unhinged.
52:19
SPEAKER_02: So if I walk into a room and like I'm like goofy, if I'm like feeling it, I'll be like, I try to make it like pinch my vocal cord like cords as tight as I can.
52:34
SPEAKER_02: And you do it.
52:36
SPEAKER_02: Like it's always like before I was like, what?
52:44
SPEAKER_02: Which is like the funniest part.
52:46
SPEAKER_02: But I'm like, no.
52:47
SPEAKER_02: That's so great.
52:48
SPEAKER_01: Like that's the that's the vibe.
52:50
SPEAKER_01: That's the energy, right?
52:52
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
52:52
SPEAKER_01: I love that I love I love that you did that for yourself and like that you're elevating and you're just following your truth, you're following your own path, you're single again.
53:03
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
53:05
SPEAKER_01: Let me say that again.
53:06
SPEAKER_01: You single again, you hot on the market, and we all know that I'm a low-key matchmaker.
53:12
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
53:13
SPEAKER_01: Do you have a type?
53:15
SPEAKER_01: I I I do.
53:17
SPEAKER_01: Um Are we trying to go for a different type?
53:19
SPEAKER_01: Like, do we not even want to put that out to the universe?
53:21
SPEAKER_02: This is the thing.
53:22
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so I've always been this way, but I didn't feel like I was deserving of it.
53:28
SPEAKER_02: So this is also one of those moments where I'm like, oh my God, like this is why I kept attracting something that was different than what I wanted.
53:35
SPEAKER_02: So for sure, I'm a sapiosexual, which is like when you're strongly attached to intel, like are attracted to intelligence.
53:43
SPEAKER_02: Like the smartest one in the room, I'm like.
53:46
SPEAKER_01: Bring it on, okay.
53:47
SPEAKER_02: What's your vocabulary like?
53:49
SPEAKER_02: How many languages do you speak?
53:50
SPEAKER_01: Talk big words to me, daddy.
53:53
SPEAKER_02: For sure.
53:54
SPEAKER_02: I dated an attorney once and I used to ask him to read his debriefs to me.
53:57
unknown: Oh.
54:01
SPEAKER_02: Like, tell me again what counsel said.
54:07
SPEAKER_02: But just anything.
54:08
SPEAKER_02: Like emotional intelligence is a must.
54:10
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
54:11
SPEAKER_02: But I also like them tall.
54:12
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
54:13
SPEAKER_02: I'm 5'4, so it's not really that hard.
54:15
SPEAKER_02: You don't have to be that much taller than me.
54:16
SPEAKER_02: I would say minimum like 5'10.
54:18
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so you're ready to date.
54:20
SPEAKER_01: I am.
54:21
SPEAKER_01: So if we get some DMs and I can like low-key do a bachelorette.
54:25
SPEAKER_01: Do a low-key off the off-the-chain bachelorette.
54:28
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
54:28
SPEAKER_01: For Pebby.
54:29
SPEAKER_02: Sign me up.
54:30
SPEAKER_02: Where's Pebby come from?
54:31
SPEAKER_02: So Pebby was a nickname that um my friends and I had come up with whenever we were like early 20s.
54:37
SPEAKER_02: I had red hair and I piled all of it on top of my head, and they were like, you look like pebbles from the Flintstones.
54:42
SPEAKER_02: And so then they called me Pebbles, and then Pebby.
54:45
SPEAKER_01: I've got a rapid fire for I've got a um rapid fire questions for you.
54:49
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I love it.
54:49
SPEAKER_01: Let's see.
54:50
SPEAKER_01: Rapid fire questions for Pebby.
54:52
SPEAKER_01: No thinking.
54:54
SPEAKER_01: First answer.
54:55
SPEAKER_01: We don't want to overthink it.
54:57
SPEAKER_02: Okay, got it.
54:57
SPEAKER_01: I'm locked in.
54:58
SPEAKER_01: Beyonce or Taylor?
54:59
SPEAKER_01: Taylor.
55:01
SPEAKER_01: Uh TikTok.
55:02
SPEAKER_01: Therapy side or chaos side?
55:04
SPEAKER_01: Therapy.
55:05
SPEAKER_01: Song on repeat lately.
55:08
SPEAKER_02: Marie Antoinette by Queen Herbie.
55:11
SPEAKER_01: One trend you refuse to adhere to.
55:16
SPEAKER_02: Oversized everything.
55:18
SPEAKER_02: Like oversized pants, oversized shirt, oversized coat.
55:21
SPEAKER_01: One trend you're absolutely obsessed with.
55:24
SPEAKER_02: I would say lots and lots of jewelry.
55:27
SPEAKER_01: One thing your kid humbles you about daily.
55:30
SPEAKER_02: Um, well, I recently tried to cook.
55:33
unknown: Okay.
55:33
SPEAKER_02: We can't be everything and do everything.
55:35
SPEAKER_02: That's said.
55:36
SPEAKER_02: And she said, Mom, this could use some salt or something like that.
55:40
SPEAKER_02: And I was like, Harper, because I'm like running ragged.
55:43
SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, I don't need to hear that right now.
55:46
SPEAKER_02: And she was like, You don't want my feedback?
55:48
SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, actually, I don't.
55:50
unknown: Eat it.
55:51
SPEAKER_01: What motherhood oh, what did motherhood unexpected unexpectedly heal?
55:57
SPEAKER_02: My disconnect from people.
55:59
SPEAKER_02: I always used to say that she made me human.
56:01
SPEAKER_01: One thing you swore you'd never do as a mom, but you do it.
56:05
SPEAKER_02: That's a hard one.
56:08
SPEAKER_02: Swear.
56:08
SPEAKER_02: Sometimes I'd let her swear too.
56:11
SPEAKER_02: Coffee order while working.
56:13
SPEAKER_02: Uh right now it's an iced gingerbread chai.
56:16
SPEAKER_01: Best launch you've ever had.
56:20
SPEAKER_02: I mean, the side slit tease for sure, and I think the Brammies are right up there.
56:25
SPEAKER_01: Worst launch you survived.
56:28
SPEAKER_02: The go-to therapy cardigan.
56:31
SPEAKER_02: We're still sitting on that.
56:32
SPEAKER_02: Like, I can't, I cannot believe that that did not move.
56:36
SPEAKER_02: Oh, bring you a while.
56:37
SPEAKER_01: I'll bring it to 12.
56:38
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
56:38
SPEAKER_01: Advice you're tired of hearing.
56:40
SPEAKER_02: Advice I'm tired of hearing.
56:43
SPEAKER_02: Trust the process.
56:45
SPEAKER_01: Something you're still insecure about.
56:47
SPEAKER_02: Mmm.
56:48
SPEAKER_01: My legs.
56:50
SPEAKER_01: Ooh, something you're wildly confident in.
56:53
SPEAKER_01: Um, that I'm funny.
56:56
SPEAKER_01: One thing women should stop apologizing for.
57:02
SPEAKER_01: What do you hope women feel the first time they wear Pebby?
57:05
SPEAKER_01: Relief.
57:06
SPEAKER_01: What are you really building for?
57:11
SPEAKER_02: Freedom.
57:13
SPEAKER_01: What do you hope Harper remembers about watching you build this?
57:17
SPEAKER_02: That you can have everything success and connection.
57:22
SPEAKER_01: What is something people assume about you that's completely wrong?
57:27
SPEAKER_02: That I'm like not an idiot.
57:31
SPEAKER_02: Like I'm a like my closest friends say that, like, like, Liz, you are the freakiest friend that we have.
57:36
SPEAKER_02: Like, I know.
57:37
SPEAKER_02: Because I'm just like a goofball.
57:40
SPEAKER_02: I'm an idiot and I love it.
57:41

57:42
SPEAKER_02: Like, that's the you I mean, we've scratched the surface.
57:46
SPEAKER_01: Guys, I mean, how how that's the best start.
57:48
SPEAKER_01: I mean, how do we end on anything other than that?
57:50
SPEAKER_01: That was like, that was it.
57:52
SPEAKER_01: You could just crush the club.
57:53
SPEAKER_01: This whole interview, you crush the club.
57:55
SPEAKER_01: Next time we'll get real weird.
57:56
SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, I love it.

SPEAKER_01: Seriously, thank you so much.
58:02
SPEAKER_01: This is awesome.
58:03
SPEAKER_01: Thank you for opening up and being so vulnerable and real.
58:06
SPEAKER_01: And I know that so many people look up to you, and I know how hard it can be like to try to be everything to everyone.
58:14
SPEAKER_01: And I just think you're doing a really good job.
58:17
SPEAKER_02: Well, thanks.
58:18
SPEAKER_01: I just wanted to tell you that.

SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's the whole point, right?
58:24
SPEAKER_02: You're awesome, though.
58:25
SPEAKER_01: You're the coolest girl I know.
58:26
SPEAKER_01: I mean it.
58:26
SPEAKER_01: Well, you know what?
58:27
SPEAKER_01: I'll take that compliment because I feel like a crusty old hag over here.

SPEAKER_01: Not even.
58:30
SPEAKER_01: No, next time I come on, I'm gonna be I'm gonna be lit.
