Transcript
- Alex: Welcome to another edition of the Unsexy Podcast. We are doing episode thirteen, check-in twelve. Kicking it over to Aaron. Aaron: All right, Alex, let's start with the wait. Alex: one sixty four point two. Aaron: That's so crazy. I mean, it's not crazy, it's just like just it's cool. like it just like it it takes a while, but then you like I mean, we have essentially figured out what your maintenance was week five of doing this. And so actually Alex: We're heroes. Aaron: maybe even week f we didn't really know, but yeah, I'd say like week five, we felt like figured out what your maintenance was. But also, I guess we can't really just because your average steps have like dramatically increased since week five. So Alex: Also true. Aaron: With twenty thousand steps a day, we have figured out your maintenance. how many workouts did you accomplish last week? Alex: Five. Aaron: Five. How many macro days? Alex: Six of seven. And one day, like it one day it was which is abnormal for me. It like actually under on protein. So that's like a first Aaron: Yeah, it's that's usually yeah, it's usually the opposite for me. I'm like, I should probably have less protein and more carbs. Or the yeah, Alex: It's usually f it's usually the fat that goes over. Aaron: or the fats. that's it's kind of crazy how easy that is to go over on. You start getting like way more like diligent on things. Even like the protein bars I like, I think there's like seven grams of fat in them. I'm like, seven grams? Ha ha ha, I can't can't be having seven grams of fat. I could only eat twelve Alex: So many grams. That's a lot of fat. Too much fat. Aaron: of these and still be fine. Alex: Like those gosh darn freaking buffalo chip things from Costco that I get when I like it's ten ten and ten. Alright, never mind. Aaron: We're just like any like chips. Like, can we have like air fried chips? Does it lay? Wonder if they still make those. Maybe nobody liked them. because Alex: Yeah. Aaron: I I had like, I was like, I'll have I was like the weekend, I was like, I'm gonna splurge. I'm gonna have sun chips. Those are probably less fatted, those. There's slightly less than like Doritos. I like, god damn it. but yeah, it is it is interesting how easy it is to go to go over on that. how many steps did you get? Alex: Nineteen thousand. Aaron: Nineteen thousand We are just going through the weeks. let's see, where are we? Every time I see this, every time I see this, I think it says traps are pooping. Traps are popping. Popping, people, popping. Not pooping. I don't know why every time I see that. All right. wins and or achievements from this past week. Alex: Wins, I'm gonna go like it. I'm really loving really loving farmers carry since I got the grips. I think I said this last week, and I'm really liking Shrugs since I've got the grips. I just feel it so much more in my traps like than ever before. And I'm just like, okay, Aaron: Yes, yes, yes. Alex: here we here we and similar like with any back exercise. So I know that was like my win last week, but you know, if we're talking Tom Aaron: Reiterate it. Alex: Hardy. that that that that's the thing that I want to be growing and it's feeling it's feeling good. So I'm I'm really and it's one of those weird things. I don't know if people cause the dude who complimented the chick who's gonna throw her back out, for anyone who's been following along, Aaron: Yes. Alex: he he complimented me. He's like, that's he was like, that's a lot for a for farmers carries. Because I think I'm doing 85s Aaron: You're like Alex: now. I was just like, once I got the straps, man, this has been way easier, if I'm being honest. Aaron: it's so much so much so much easier. Yeah, exactly. Yes. Alex: I know. Like yes, I feel it here now and like it is like more of a workout for that, but I'm just like, my gosh, th it was just my grip giving out. Aaron: Yeah, that's all it is. I mean, I know we we do repeat ourselves a lot on this on this podcast, but it really is just it it takes out the limiting factor. You're you're not working on getting a stronger grip. You want to work out your traps or whatever muscle group you're actually focusing on. And I use straps all the time. I'm actually more surprised of I mean, there are definitely people at the g out of my gym that use straps, but it's not as it's not as frequent as I would think it would be. I would think more people would be using straps. I wonder if people equate straps with like weakness. Like, not strong enough to hold that weight. Alex: Hm. Like you got the straps, yeah. Aaron: What's going on there? Although you watch any bodybuilder, any whatever, Alex: Your body is still holding it. Aaron: like that's what they that's what they do, like to to engage those muscles more effectively. so yeah. Alex: More those people who are wearing gloves. Like get the calluses, you pussy. Aaron: Yeah, I know. Yeah, then they just kinda go away. They're just like they're just there. They're just they're just part of it. Yeah. Alex: I pick at him and it hurts really, really painful sometimes. Aaron: do you? I don't. I just I want to keep those there. Yeah, look at us. Look at our calluses. We're we're men. We're like farmers. grips. Alex: I don't know. Just something to do. Just something to do. I know. Haven't carried a single thing of wood, a arm f that sounds gay. I haven't carried a single Aaron: Yeah. Alex: bale of hay in decades. Aaron: I don't know if I've ever carried a have I ever carried a bale of hay? No, I know. Yeah. 'Cause it seems farmer far firewood. Alex: No, I w I just went with bale of hay instead of firewood. Firewood, that's what I should. I haven't carried firewood in decades. Aaron: You should have said you haven't chopped firewood, although we never chopped it. We had one of those motorized Alex: Splitter. Aaron: splitters, which is awesome. no what's even better? centralized heating and air. So I don't have to do any of that. did you have any struggles this week, Alex? How's your arm? Alex: It still hurts, but like it's almost like one of those things where I'm very confident it's not muscular in nature. And so it's probably like I've just been working through it. Just like, all right, cool. This until like some it raises its ugly head in a real way because like I I went and talked to the doctors, like, yep, you're just gonna have to go light reps for for a really long period of time. It's like as long as it's nothing serious, I can deal like the pain is scaring me more from the I've torn something. Like it's that's that's more of like the fear I have. But if like there's nothing torn and it's just like inflammation, I'm sure someone's listening Aaron: Yes. Alex: to this like, that's horrible for you. It's like, All right, I guess my forearm's just gonna have some inflamed nerves in there. but Aaron: Are you planning on like working out when you're in Hawaii? Alex: Probably. I I don't rem yeah. Aaron: The the only reason I was gonna ask is like you could have like a D load week where you just let that thing settle and Alex: Yeah. Aaron: see and then still do lightweights after, but just see if that had any any effect or whatever. Alex: Yeah. But as far as like negative things, it's just there's there's fewer and fewer because you're getting into like the zone. Like I'm getting to a point now where I'm just like I just have to go. Like there'll be days like yesterday. Yesterday was like I really don't want to do this. But I just rolled out of bed almost like an automaton. Walked in, got ready, got in the car, drove, hit a kit on the way, but overall, Aaron: shouldn't have been standing there. Alex: I made it there. I made it. So so so Aaron: But you you make sacrifices, that's important. Alex: that's like the only like real negative I can think of is just like ever some days I'm really tired and then I just go and do it. I'm like, well, I'm happy that I did it. Aaron: Yes. The I remember when I like my my one thought I would have, besides I really want to go back to sleep, when I was getting up at like four o'clock in the morning, was like just put your feet on the ground. Like just roll over and like once you put my feet on the ground, I like, I'm up, I'm good. I I'm up. But it was like the the whatever whatever about just having my feet on the ground could push me the rest of the way. and so that's all I did say like just put your feet on the ground. Just put your feet on the ground. Just put your feet on the ground. And it just like helped me so much. but sometimes, you know, you're just really tired. Alex: If I were going to have just like to make up a negative thing that's going on, I've been getting into a lot more health and fitness social boards, what the hell do they call those? Chat rooms. Not even chat rooms. Anyways, doesn't Aaron: chat like Reddit. Alex: matter. It's where people are like I got into this one that's called Locked In. And just We are just to toot our own horn a little bit, Aaron and I are so much better at this than most everyone on the internet. Because what Aaron: Ha ha ha ha. Alex: most what most everyone on the internet does first is tell you what to do based on your question. And 99.9% of the t time, when somebody has a need that they're trying or a goal that they're trying to hit, they don't actually know what the goal is. So you need to ask them questions to get them to the goal. And they don't know what workouts, what food, what like all of these things. And I just see people coming back, just gotta do this, just gotta do this, gotta do this, gotta do this. And so where I'm seeing like the huge value of this, just in general for peop for people is AI is great for like building out your basic plan, but you need someone who knows you more on a personal level. to understand you can have this you this'll be better for you, this will be better for you, this will be better for you. And to ask you questions because I think a lot of times it's like so transactional. Just I just see like calories in, calories out, calories in, calories out. I'm like, we don't know anything about this person except they said they want to lose 30 pounds. This person could weigh a hundred pounds. Do you know how hard it's gonna be to lose thirty well first off, and then you would tell them, like, how much do you weigh? I weigh a hundred pounds. You you shouldn't lose thirty pounds. You should probably be gaining weight, depending on what Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Alex: you're what depending on how much fat is on your body, how tall you are, etc. And so I just Just wanna shout that out really quick. Like the the amount of people and Aaron's unsexy Aaron twenty four channel where everything is very Aaron: Eighty four. Alex: eighty four channel, where everything is Aaron: Yeah. Alex: very we've gotta steal the unsexy eran channel, whoever has that MFers. okay, good, good, good, good. because for inst for can you not do it for Instagram? Aaron: I did. Did I tell you about that? I was like, someone has it. I can't believe it. But it was like another channel. It was an other you I have to go double check. Alex: Okay. Aaron: no, like I just I have to go change that. Just because yeah, you're right. Alex: Anyways, but but they because like they're they're science based and finding multiple studies as opposed to what I'm also seeing a lot of people do, where just like there's this one study, so this is this is how many steps you should be getting a day. Maybe, maybe for you, but you there's so many other things that that study is not taking into consideration for you. Is it good to have that knowledge? Absolutely. Is it the end all be all no? So that's gotta be the the the hardest thing this week was just seeing everybody's just like don't do this. Like someone just another example. Someone's like, So like what are like good alcohols? Like I knew I know I'm not supposed to drink, but like if I am going to drink, like what are the good alcohols? And you have the people just that you're putting poison in your body, you're putting poison in your body. I'm like, my gosh, dude, that's not what they asked. That's not they're Aaron: Yeah. That's not what he asked. Yes. Yes. Alex: looking, just give them the answer or don't answer. Like it's okay, like Aaron: I know. Yeah. Alex: that is an option too. There's the option. Aaron: Just shut the hell up. Well, it's Alex: So there's my little rant for the week. Aaron: well, it's funny just because like even like the whole 10,000 step thing, it's such an arbitrary number. Like, I I I I mean I even with you, I was like, we gotta make sure you get your 10,000 steps. Like, why? Like, why is it 10 I I think it's more of a just to make sure you're moving enough is really the the the key to that 10,000 steps. But like just we had we had a we had a sibling that was like, hey, there is there is a very famous medical doctor who is talking on a podcast is just like, you know, maybe the 10,000 steps isn't the best. Maybe we should be doing the I can't remember, it's like mini sessions or mini whatever, like mini like quick bursts of energy. Like maybe that's we there's a study now that says that might be the better way to do it. And my response is when he said that I was like, it's gonna change. Everything's gonna change. Like, there's always gonna be some new, this is the best way to do it, or whatever. The the thing is just like if you've like locked in on like your 10,000 steps or you know what, 8,000 steps and you're you've locked in with like your diet and and exercise and stuff like that, like who gives a shit? Whatever the the the next exactly who Alex: Are you hitting the goals on your timeline? Great. You're doing great. Aaron: who cares what the next this is the greatest thing you need to be doing is like I don't we we just give too much credence into that. Now if there's like some giant study that's just like hey, do because we get do like like Cold plunge. I'm trying to think of of other things just like the like the green supplements. Alex: Pickleball. Aaron: I'm just thinking like all these fads that happen. There's like like like you were now talking about like CrossFit. Who does anyone still do CrossFit? Is that still a thing? Or is that just like a is that get like like taken up by Hyrux? Like there or it used to be tough mutter and then it was something else and it was there's always some other Spartan. There's always some Alex: Spartan. Yeah. Aaron: other thing to trick people into taking your money and to give you a A medal because you did it or whatever. The medal should just be like your yourself. Like you are able to accomplish whatever goal you're set. And I'm not even like knocking on people that do that. That's totally fine. If that's what your goal is, that's totally cool. But it's just more of like there's always some other like this is the cool way of doing things. Like you have like orange theory, and you have there's just like so many. They're like, This is the best way to do it. Like, it's it's not, there's no best way. The best way is whatever's gonna make you do something. So Whether it's walking 10,000 steps, doing CrossFit, doing just something pickleball, just whatever it is. Like that's whatever you could do consistently is the best thing for you. There's not a best for everyone. So stop saying that. It's so annoying when people say this is this is the best way to do it, or that's way is the best way to do it. I don't think we've ever said this is the best way to do anything except track your shit. Track it. That's the only that's my only that's the only thing I like. Live and die on is just like you have to track stuff. Like the only thing like the only absolutes I have is your diet, your exercise, and you're getting enough sleep. Those are the only things like if you're doing those three things, however you're doing them, great. That's whatever works for you, that's how you do it. Don't let anybody tell you that their way is the best way. And if you don't do it their way, you're leaving gains on the table or whatever. God, I gotta cut it with that. Because people say it all the time. Yeah. You leave a gains Alex: Leaving gains on the table. Yeah. Aaron: on the table. Like, shut the hell up. but yeah, that's that's my ditch. Alex: Yeah, I'm sure I'm sure if we watched you constantly work out, we would find the we would find the gains that you're leaving on the table. There's always a way to find gains being left on a table. I don't know why we're putting them a table. What? Aaron: Yeah, there's always something. I know. I know. I do want to point out this could be a win or a struggle. I it's there's no this could this could be a win or a struggle. We had our first hater. I don't know if you want to point that out on one of Alex: I mean I I don't know if I would I don't know if I'd say that was a hater as much as someone who's like, hey, I want get my course. Aaron: Th that's I know, that's like and I think I that sort of responded I like, Keep doing it. Alex: But note, but maybe that's like a really good example of like, this is why you have to ask questions. That motherfucker has no idea what my goals are. Because if he Aaron: Right. Right. Alex: was to listen to the very first episode of of this podcast, it was to look like Tom Tom Hardy's Bane. And a lot of that was upper body work. And like this Aaron: Yes. Alex: guy, so just for context of people who, you know, because I know everyone follows me in religiously, he was just like, Aaron: Reads all the comments. Alex: hey, you need to work on your legs. I'm like. It's not my that's literally not my goal right now. Not my goal at all. But Aaron: My goal. Yeah. Yes. Alex: note it. Aaron: But and also, thank you for then telling us that you have a have a a program to sell us. That's great. Thanks, buddy. Alex: Commenting? Push it f Yep. Well, I offered him to DM me and I was happy to happy to coach him if he needs it. I'm still waiting Aaron: Well the Alex: on a response. Aaron: Well, I clicked on his private profile that had five five followers and I was like, Okay, yeah, shut the hell up, dude. not that we can judge everyone by the amount of followers I have. I only have like eighty, so it's not a Alex: You Aaron: big deal. Alex: know what's kind of funny about that? One of my one of my posts that I do, I j I get so many fake AI chick likes from them. Like it Aaron: yeah. Alex: just got like twenty, like twenty Aaron: Mm-hmm. Alex: of the fifty likes are from like fake AI chicks. It's like, I guess like this guy has his shirt off. He must be into he must be into chicks. It's like all right, all right, Aaron: He must be into OnlyFans. Alex: sounds good. Thank you. Social media. Fascinating, fascinating Aaron: Yeah, it is weird. Yeah, social media is weird. Alex: environment to be in. Aaron: It is it is terrible and I hate almost everything about it. But there are there the there are good things that come along with it. I if nothing has to remind me how much I hate social media is when I was I think I told you, Alex, when I like looked back. I hadn't looked at my Party Food Hero channel in like years. And I was like, is it people still watch these? And there's one and like like some of them are good and then there's a bunch of like, your video sucks, learn how to edit better. I was just like Cool. Thanks, man. Sorry my free video wasn't edited so great. Okay. Thanks, man. Alex: Well it's and it's the like it's the it's the irony of like taking time out of their day to like this one video Aaron: Yes. Alex: that they saw was like, I'm gonna leave a comment on this guy's Aaron: And if I had to guess, that guy has a plethora of comments exactly like that on a plethora of other videos. Just like this sucks and this is why you suck. This like, okay. Luckily, I'm just I'm glad we're not young where I would be like immediately offended by it. I'm just like, someone doesn't like me on the internet. What am I gonna? I was just like, I just laughed. I was like, God, people are so weird. I fucking hate people. Alex: internet.
