- 0:46Speaker 2: Welcome back to another episode, and today we're talking all about stress, which is a big topic and could probably be an entire podcast on its own, don't you think, Denise?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Um, I mean, everybody has stress right and we view it so differently.
- 1:13Speaker 2: So no no, not everybody, Right, you're like I'm not stressed, no, no, um, I want to say a few things about it first.
- 1:22Speaker 2: So yeah, sometimes people don't even know what stress is, which is it sounds funny to say, but it's like okay, but what is stress?
- 1:29Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:29Speaker 2: Is it working a lot?
- 1:30Speaker 2: Really, the stress is just the body's built in alarm system, right, it's going off and it's alerting us of something, of some type of overwhelm.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Short-term, it's helpful, right, like you get in a car crash.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I'm just trying to think of short term examples, like something that just happens, it's a one off thing, it's helpful for the body.
- 1:51Speaker 2: But long term we start to lead to issues like thyroid imbalances, sleep issues, weakened gut function, decreased immune system.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I mean, the list literally goes on.
- 2:03Speaker 2: And while I'm not a fan of medical gaslighting, a lot of times people will go to the doctor and the doctor will say, well, you're distressed.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I mean, they're probably not wrong, it's not a helpful answer, but they're probably not wrong.
- 2:19Speaker 1: No, you're right, but I think sometimes it's frustrating to the person to be like well.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I think sometimes it's frustrating to the person to be like well, it's stress, there's nothing we can do, yeah, and then yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 2: And that's why I said I'm not a fan of medical gaslighting guys.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I know, yeah, I know To each their own, and then we respect all practices.
- 2:37Speaker 1: But sometimes it is frustrating for someone to tell you well, yeah, we've done everything, and it's stress and you're like now, what do I do?
- 2:44Speaker 2: Yes, and that's what we want to bring today.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Because I was told that many times like, oh, your hormone imbalances, it's stress.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, but how do I manage this?
- 2:55Speaker 2: Then, like there's not a book out there, exactly, exactly.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Well, and then when we look at stress, okay, from a clinical perspective, right, we can gut function hormone issues.
- 3:04Speaker 2: But what about on a deeper level?
- 3:06Speaker 2: Stress is gonna reduce our sense of purpose, right, and that's gonna impact health.
- 3:11Speaker 2: It's gonna weaken our boundaries we got a whole podcast on that one.
- 3:14Speaker 2: It's gonna challenge how we process emotions.
- 3:16Speaker 2: It's gonna weaken our intuition Like there's so many deeper levels of what can happen with stress.
- 3:23Speaker 2: And I think also we need to talk about misconceptions, right, because, yes, it's a lot of misconceptions.
- 3:32Speaker 2: There are, and it's more how we handle the stress than the stress itself, right?
- 3:36Speaker 2: So, like, put Denise and I in the same situation, right?
- 3:40Speaker 2: Like something happens.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Denise might be like I'm fine, like I'm handling it Okay, but she's got tools versus me.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Maybe I'm on the verge of a breakdown, but it's because of how we're handling it, right, like I'm not doing anything for it.
- 3:58Speaker 1: And so that's.
- 3:59Speaker 2: That's the first piece that I think people need to understand.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and I know that you mentioned, good, you know, like the short-term stress.
- 4:09Speaker 1: The short-term stress could be preparing for a wedding, preparing for a graduation party, right.
- 4:14Speaker 1: So it's kind of like I mean again, I'm trying to stay away from labeling good and bad, but kind of like that's the stress, that yeah, you know we're having fun with it, but then it's going to go away once it's done, once the wedding's done.
- 4:24Speaker 1: But yeah, you know we're having fun with it, but then it's going to go away once it's done with the weddings done, once the birthday party or the graduation or whatever.
- 4:30Speaker 2: So yeah, and there's sorry, I'm totally chiming in.
- 4:32Speaker 1: No, no, no no, no, don't be.
- 4:33Speaker 1: This is.
- 4:33Speaker 1: This is what the podcast is about.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Right, like I think.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I think they've got the gist.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Like, you and I are going to interrupt each other.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yeah, we're going to interrupt each other, but you mentioned that.
- 4:42Speaker 2: But there's also, I want to point out there's hormetic stressors which are like those good stressors, right?
- 4:48Speaker 2: So like working out, going for a walk, cold, plunging, fasting those can be good stressors.
- 4:57Speaker 2: That's why we call them hormetic stressors.
- 4:58Speaker 2: But here's a caveat If your body is already dealing with chronic stress, do you really think that throwing other good stressors at it is going to be helpful?
- 5:09Speaker 1: No, and that's where sometimes you know, because it is trendy, yes, it is trend, the cold plunge and all the you know, yes, it's trendy, but is it for everybody?
- 5:18Speaker 1: No, the fasting and fasting is great, but is it for everybody?
- 5:24Speaker 1: So, same thing, when we talked about, when you talked about, the supplements right, and not all supplements are good for every single person et cetera.
- 5:31Speaker 1: So it's really also important not to just go with the flow of like, oh, you know, my cousin is doing it and she feels great, but then your cousin is not, you, she's not.
- 5:41Speaker 1: You mentioned perception and reaction to some stressors that you have two people, same issue.
- 5:47Speaker 1: We're, you know, we're stressing about it differently, so we're different people.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Listen to yourself.
- 5:52Speaker 2: That's it Like.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Stop listening to other people and listen to your body.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Yeah, so if like cold plunging or intermittent fasting or whatever the good things that I mean it could be, you know lifting weights could not work out for you.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Maybe you are better with gentle exercise like yoga, tai Chi, et cetera.
- 6:09Speaker 1: So let me tackle many, you know, don't understand where stress actually comes from.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Okay, so, yes, sure, it can be working long hours.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Like you mentioned, the kiddos that have sleep issues.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You know some of some kiddos, you know, really don't sleep or they're very hyper, I get it.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Family issues, family problems I get that Right, but stress also comes from too much technology.
- 6:40Speaker 1: The whole scrolling Today actually, I saw a quote, and you know what I am actually going to read it because it's really cool.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Okay, just give me a second.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I wonder if it's the same one that's in my head.
- 6:52Speaker 2: We're gonna find out because I'm gonna it's.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I mean, I don't have a quote in my head, but yeah, he said how can you find time for self reflectionlection if your face is buried in the screen all day, immersed in the thoughts and lives of others?
- 7:09Speaker 1: So we've been talking about like self-reflection, looking within, et cetera, but then we're constantly looking on TikTok, on Snapchat, on Instagram, on Facebook and looking at the people of others, the quotes that others are putting, and I mean the quotes are great, but it may not apply to you at this moment, right?
- 7:24Speaker 2: And it's going to influence you.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 7:27Speaker 1: You're going to be like, oh my, am I doing things wrong?
- 7:29Speaker 1: And this is sometimes where even people on their spiritual journey and on the healing journey they start questioning themselves like wait a minute, what's going on?
- 7:38Speaker 1: So too much technology, too much blue light.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Well, and I'm going to say something.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Do you want to chime in?
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I do Sorry With with both of those, so mine isn't a quote, but I read it somewhere and I know I'm going to get the statistic wrong, so don't kill me for that, but Google it, people.
- 7:55Speaker 2: It was something like every time you open social media, you dysregulate your nervous system for 30 minutes.
- 8:03Speaker 2: So think about yes, think about what people are doing all day long.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Think about the chronic stressed out state, just from that.
- 8:11Speaker 1: It's like it reminds me of the statistics of the sugar right, like when you eat sugar, your immune system stops for four hours.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, for so many hours.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, you're good.
- 8:27Speaker 1: And then, what did I say?
- 8:28Speaker 1: Too much blue light?
- 8:28Speaker 1: Yeah, what do we do?
- 8:29Speaker 1: What do people do first thing in the morning?
- 8:30Speaker 2: sometimes, yeah, check their bones and that's it.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Look, look, I've got my little blue light blockers.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I'm I'm slacking on them, but right now I have an amber light, but, yeah, blue light is huge again.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Think about all the people on computers, tvs, phones Like that's a strength.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I'll give you an example With our teenagers as well.
- 8:51Speaker 1: So, when I pick up my daughter from school, we always see this one boy who's actually her friend's boyfriend, and we know that because when her friend's with us like they scream, friends with us like they, they scream.
- 9:10Speaker 1: So he's literally always the little brother's like playing around and walking with him, and that the boy, who's a teenager, is constantly looking down on his phone every time.
- 9:15Speaker 1: So yesterday Avery's like oh, this is Sophia's boyfriend, like, yeah, I know his head is always looking down and his brother's jumping around him.
- 9:22Speaker 1: So it is so sad because my daughter does the same thing sometimes too, and I'm constantly telling her like, look in front of you, see the world, see nature.
- 9:30Speaker 1: You know, and that's what our teenagers are doing their head is constantly looking down at their phone and they're not enjoying what's around them and to be honest with you not just the kids I think a lot of adults do yeah.
- 9:42Speaker 2: There are a lot of adults and I've told clients that I'm like why are you responding to me so quickly, Are?
- 9:48Speaker 2: You always on your phone checking stuff, Like don't respond so quickly, you know get off yeah.
- 9:54Speaker 1: You're right.
- 9:54Speaker 1: You're right.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Another thing could be also environmental toxins.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I mean, we are surrounded by environmental toxins and a lot of them sometimes we can't control, like the things in the water, the thing I mean we can try, like with the filters and stuff like that, but whatever's in the air and things like that.
- 10:12Speaker 1: So that's why it's important to do your part, because sometimes environmental toxins are out of our control, especially when schools and you know big places, um, you know they spray those herbicides and pesticides and stuff like that.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Perfectionism Stress can come.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Ah, you and I know that you and I, you know, kind of work on this pretty much every day.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I feel like Stress can also come from limiting beliefs.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Remember those stories, those beliefs that are not true, but they keep playing and playing and playing.
- 10:44Speaker 1: That could cause stress.
- 10:46Speaker 1: If one thought can take you down the spiral, yeah, that's, that's.
- 10:50Speaker 1: That's you adding to your stress, actually.
- 10:53Speaker 1: And then unresolved trauma.
- 10:55Speaker 1: You know things, and and I mean also maybe trapped emotions, emotions that we have not released.
- 11:03Speaker 1: So, yeah, I know we could go on.
- 11:06Speaker 2: The list is too long, I feel like that, but I'm hoping people are seeing.
- 11:10Speaker 2: One thing is like a lot of times stress is not external.
- 11:13Speaker 2: It can be again, like you said, work and kid stuff, like it can be outside of us, but don't shoot the messenger.
- 11:20Speaker 2: A lot of times we create our own stress.
- 11:22Speaker 2: It's oh absolutely Absolutely.
- 11:25Speaker 1: And Louise Hay talks about it in one of her recordings, actually, which is probably from the 90s, and it's just like just people throw this word stress everywhere.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I'm stressed, I'm stressed, I'm stressed.
- 11:34Speaker 1: It's kind of like it's, it has become like I don't know.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Kind of like you say yeah.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Like how are you?
- 11:42Speaker 1: I'm stressed instead of I'm good, there's so much to do.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I'm like, oh yeah, all right.
- 11:49Speaker 1: So stress just kind of like you know the symptoms and the emotions.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Stress is like a messenger.
- 11:57Speaker 1: It's telling you something.
- 11:59Speaker 1: It's telling you something important about your life, about your choices, right.
- 12:05Speaker 1: So if you're constantly having this internal stress from perfectionism, I mean we've got to make different choices right?
- 12:11Speaker 1: It also tells us about our need for balance.
- 12:15Speaker 1: There's something wrong, just kind of like the symptoms and the emotions that we've always talked about like being messengers.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Same thing with stress Like what are you here to tell me?
- 12:24Speaker 1: Why am I feeling all this?
- 12:25Speaker 1: So the key is not to eliminate stress, which is, I mean, kind of ish, impossible, right.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Sometimes it is Like external stressors, at least right, like if my kids are not sleeping, what am I supposed to do?
- 12:40Speaker 1: Exactly, or if the you know, if, like, where you live, the waters you know, or the air quality, or they spray too much pesticides and herbicides.
- 12:48Speaker 1: It's kind of like you really can't do that, but it is to develop a healthy relationship with it and build the tools, just like you mentioned build the tools for managing it, have the tools, have the strategies, and not just have them, use them, utilize them right.
- 13:04Speaker 1: So, whatever we're giving you, please make sure that you are implementing it, because you can listen to us from now until the cows come home, but if you're not actually implementing at least one tip, one thing, yeah, that's a choice that you're also making to listen and not to I'm laughing because I have a membership.
- 13:24Speaker 2: I have a monthly health membership and I have women who I call out in there on a regular basis and yesterday I sent out multiple messages of like a regular basis.
- 13:37Speaker 2: And yesterday I sent out multiple messages of like hey, so you know, I don't have a magic wand and I can't just like, poof, here's your healing energy.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Like, you guys haven't logged in, you haven't done anything, you have to do the work.
- 13:44Speaker 1: You have to you are your own savior.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Yes, you know.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Yes, I mean, we're believers, we believe in the Savior, god, etc.
- 13:55Speaker 1: But also, you know you are being sent those nudges to actually do something about it Right.
- 14:05Speaker 1: So it's not like, oh, I'm just praying, well, you got to also take that inspired action that's coming from the praying right.
- 14:14Speaker 1: So it's really important to know that you are the one that will make the difference in your life.
- 14:20Speaker 2: And that was a huge learning curve for me of like even working with my clients like for so long I would get frustrated if someone didn't get results because I'm like it's my job to heal them.
- 14:30Speaker 1: No, it's not.
- 14:30Speaker 1: No, it's not.
- 14:32Speaker 2: I don't heal anyone, you heal yourself.
- 14:35Speaker 2: You do the work.
- 14:36Speaker 2: I'm here to guide you.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I mean, it's the same thing with anything.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Same thing with dance.
- 14:41Speaker 1: My daughter's a dancer.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Her teachers tell her the same thing you can take privates as much as you can, you can take all the classes, but you still have to do your own part, right?
- 14:50Speaker 1: Same thing with my speech kiddos.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I especially when they're in middle school or, like you know, late elementary, I'm like I talked to the parent and I talked to them.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I don't have the magic wand.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Even if I see them seven days a week, it's still not enough.
- 15:03Speaker 1: They also need to do their part in order to make the progress that they want.
- 15:07Speaker 1: So it's with everything sports, whatever.
- 15:11Speaker 1: So make sure that you ask yourself, just like we tell you about.
- 15:15Speaker 1: You know the symptoms and we talked about the symptoms and the emotions.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Ask what is the stress trying to teach me?
- 15:22Speaker 1: It's here for you.
- 15:28Speaker 1: So what are you trying to teach me?
- 15:29Speaker 1: Sit with it during your stillness and what are you trying to teach me?
- 15:31Speaker 1: What's the message?
- 15:31Speaker 1: You know everything in our life brings lessons.
- 15:33Speaker 1: So shit doesn't just happen, things don't just go wrong all of a sudden.
- 15:38Speaker 1: It's a compilation of choices, of decisions, et cetera.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Where is my part?
- 15:43Speaker 1: And remember, go back to accountability.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Take the accountability and learn and do differently.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Yeah, what do you have tips for us?
- 15:53Speaker 2: I know I feel like we could end at that, because it's so powerful for people to start listening to themselves.
- 15:59Speaker 2: I literally had that conversation on a call with someone yesterday.
- 16:02Speaker 2: I said I need you to have a conversation with yourself, not like a crazy person, but listen, ask your symptoms.
- 16:08Speaker 2: What are you trying to tell me right now?
- 16:10Speaker 2: What do you need from me?
- 16:11Speaker 2: Me, because too often we just ignore that, and the same thing goes for stress.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Okay, but yeah, and and sometimes people might think it's silly.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Oh, I'm talking to my emotions, I'm talking to me, okay.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You tried the other way, yeah, and you're still stressed and you still have emotional shit, baggage, type of thing, right?
- 16:29Speaker 1: So we do what we tell you to do.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Just listen to us, okay.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Just listen to us, okay.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Just listen to us.
- 16:35Speaker 2: We've been on this journey for a while Just do it, do it.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Well.
- 16:39Speaker 2: So I mean, there were tips embedded in there, but we we always want to give you guys some additional things to think about.
- 16:45Speaker 2: So some of my favorite tools for managing stress a multitude of things.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Take a digital freaking detox.
- 16:52Speaker 2: I already I we both mentioned that one, but like amen, amen to that.
- 16:58Speaker 1: It could be 24 hours.
- 16:59Speaker 1: It could be 24 hours.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Does not have to be.
- 17:01Speaker 1: The weekend is ideal, yeah, but it can be 24 hours.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Or if you're going on a trip, please, if you're going on a trip, just use your phone to take pictures.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I was really good with it on sundays.
- 17:13Speaker 2: I wouldn't do anything.
- 17:14Speaker 2: It slipped up a little bit again and I need to get back to that.
- 17:18Speaker 2: But find time to do it.
- 17:19Speaker 2: It is powerful, so you can be present, because you can't be present when you're always scrolling.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know who posted this, whether it was James Wedmore or Lewis Howes Edmore or Lewis Howes one of these two posted about if social media, if something like social media shuts down after six o'clock, or something like there's a rule where social media shuts down after six o'clock, so many people, just, you know, have dinner and talk with each other and you know, have family and have time and things like that.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Because I remember I grew up in Lebanon and then remember back in the day nowadays I don't think so, but back in the day, like the cartoon will end at a certain time.
- 18:00Speaker 1: So that reminded me of like, let's say, social media ends or closes at a certain time.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I mean, it's not a bad idea.
- 18:08Speaker 1: It is not.
- 18:08Speaker 1: I loved it.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I was like that would be so cool because it will also.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Because I was like that would be so cool because it will also, because, oh, and another one we are the last generation to experience life without social media, so our kids don't even know my daughter doesn't know life without social media.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Nope, it's crazy.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Yeah, next, next, grounding connecting with nature can be huge.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Right, we're part of nature, so just get outside more and that's going to limit that blue light.
- 18:44Speaker 2: And that's going to help you look up, not down, right, find passion and purpose.
- 18:46Speaker 2: This is a big one.
- 18:46Speaker 2: We I I'm a firm believer that we were not just dropped on this planet for nothing.
- 18:50Speaker 2: It's not to go through daily motions.
- 18:52Speaker 2: We have gifts.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Use them, find them.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Figure out what you love to do.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Look back at your childhood.
- 18:58Speaker 2: If you loved roller skating, then get some freaking roller skates right now.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Like and do it.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Yeah, find stuff that lights you up.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Um, move your body.
- 19:08Speaker 2: That one's pretty simple, but listen to your body.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Like Denise said, maybe you need more yoga, maybe you need Tai Chi, maybe you need to do somatic movements, but get moving, because moving is going to move the emotions.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Same thing with journaling.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Journaling can be used for so many different things, but it can be really powerful.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Exploring emotions and like how do I feel in this moment?
- 19:28Speaker 2: And coaching yourself on the paper of why do I feel this way, what are the thoughts that run through my mind, what can I do about them?
- 19:36Speaker 2: Organizing your space Denise you brought this one up to me years ago of just a cluttered house is a cluttered mind and body, and it's so true.
- 19:46Speaker 2: If your house is a train wreck I'm not saying to stress yourself out and to spend hours or days working on it, but maybe it's.
- 19:54Speaker 2: I'm just going to tackle this one little thing for 15 minutes because really a clutter all around you means chaos, it's stress.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Yeah Well, our inside world, our outside world, reflects our inside.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Ah, I'm saying it wrong.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Our outside world is a reflection of our inner world, right?
- 20:13Speaker 1: So if there's a lot of clutter outside in your house, that means there's clutter inside and it's time to go through.
- 20:19Speaker 1: But yeah, it does help to clutter.
- 20:22Speaker 1: What is it?
- 20:23Speaker 1: Organize the clutter.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Yeah, what is it, marie Kondo?
- 20:27Speaker 2: Marie Kondo, your house, oh that's right.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Does it bring joy?
- 20:30Speaker 1: I love it, I love it.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I just realized that she always, when, whenever she wants to get rid of clothes or things, does it bring me joy.
- 20:38Speaker 1: So remember, does it, does this activity bring me joy?
- 20:40Speaker 1: If it doesn't, then nope.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Yeah, obviously, prayer, meditation can be very helpful.
- 20:47Speaker 2: And then the last thing I usually share with people is just find what brings you peace and joy.
- 20:52Speaker 2: The last thing I usually share with people is just find what brings you peace and joy, like it doesn't have to be on our list, like if it brings you peace, that's what's great.
- 20:59Speaker 2: No-transcript.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Exactly, exactly Again.
- 21:08Speaker 1: That's why we give a lot of tips, because one you know you use different tips, that I do, and then we're different people plus the listeners and everyone's listening.
- 21:16Speaker 1: It's just different.
- 21:17Speaker 1: And yeah, just do what works for you and stick with it.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Stick with it, make it a routine.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Yeah, okay.
- 21:25Speaker 1: What you got.
- 21:26Speaker 1: My thing is set up a self-care or self-love routine, so that could be a morning routine or an evening routine.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I like the morning because what I do in the evening, like at night, I just literally like play the subliminal messaging, reprogramming and just fall asleep.
- 21:44Speaker 1: But in the morning, like I wake up, I immediately do after I look outside Good job, that's from you, that's from you.
- 21:56Speaker 1: And I start with my meditation right away and I stick with the same one pretty much, which is kind of like a meditation slash prayer.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I really love it.
- 22:05Speaker 1: And then I do some reading.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I do like at least five minutes of reading of something you know that's what do you call it, like self-development books and stuff like that.
- 22:17Speaker 1: And I journal and sometimes I listen to affirmations, et cetera.
- 22:21Speaker 1: But do set up a self-care routine, because once you have a routine, you're constantly teaching your body to be calm, let's say, or to be still, and that will help you during stressful moments, because when you're panicking and stressed out and everything is, and then your nervous system is dysregulated, you're not thinking of the calm things, but once you have a routine, you immediately go to it right.
- 22:45Speaker 1: So whenever sometimes I'm like I feel panicky.
- 22:47Speaker 1: I know what to do.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I immediately open my tapping solution and I'm there.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Times I'm like I feel panicky.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I know what to do.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I immediately open my tapping solution and I'm there.
- 22:53Speaker 1: But why is this become a habit?
- 22:53Speaker 1: Because I set it up as a routine, right.
- 22:56Speaker 1: So instead of like why am I panicking right now, I'm like you know what, let me just do a tapping meditation about overwhelm, and then I just open the app and then I do the overwhelm, which is like two, three minute tapping meditation.
- 23:07Speaker 1: But again, set up something that works for you and you do it all the time.
- 23:11Speaker 1: So it's part of, so it's a habit.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Actually it is a habit and it should be something you look forward to, like you're I know you're a morning routine person.
- 23:18Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Mornings are super chaotic, like I'm running out of the house.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Like this morning, kiddo and I left the house at 739, but I come back, I take my walk outside.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Like I really look forward to that every single morning and if it doesn't happen, I'm like devastated.
- 23:35Speaker 2: But then at night I, as soon as kiddo goes to bed, that's when I do my hypnosis and that's like I love that.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing too, because your kiddo is way younger than mine, right?
- 23:48Speaker 1: So when I was in your position, probably evening, well, you know, when the kids were little, I mean, I started my journey when my daughter was what?
- 23:56Speaker 1: No, she was a baby, yeah, so, anyway.
- 24:02Speaker 1: So whenever they were little, yes, the evening routine made way more sense.
- 24:04Speaker 1: But to me also, because I, right now, even though I hated waking up in the morning, I love to sleep in, but I do as much as I can try to wake up between five and six so I can get that.
- 24:13Speaker 1: And I and I definitely feel the difference when I don't do my, my routine, because when I went on vacation I didn't stick with it as much because we were waking up earlier and you know getting on, you know getting on the excursions and stuff like that.
- 24:28Speaker 1: So I felt the difference, man, I like I need my tap and like I would like you know getting on the excursions and stuff like that.
- 24:32Speaker 1: So I felt the difference.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Man, I like I need my tap, like I would like you know do it on the patio or whatever.
- 24:38Speaker 1: The second tip is define your non-negotiables.
- 24:41Speaker 1: What are your values, your priorities?
- 24:44Speaker 1: Those are going to help you set the boundaries, those are going to help you not overwhelm yourself.
- 24:49Speaker 1: So if your priority, let's say, is to you know drink water, you know that those are going to help you not overwhelm yourself.
- 24:52Speaker 1: So if your priority, let's say, is to you know drink water, you know that you are going to stick with that and drink more water.
- 24:57Speaker 1: And if your value is to spend more time with family, you're going to say no to an activity that's going to stop from that right.
- 25:06Speaker 1: So if this is something that does require self-reflection, what are your values, your priorities, like?
- 25:11Speaker 1: For example, for me, my priorities is to, for example, you know, grow this business.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Anything that is not aligned with that, I'm saying no to right or to whatever, whatever it is.
- 25:24Speaker 2: I think the values piece is huge.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Like we have to be living a life that's aligned with our values.
- 25:31Speaker 2: So like my top value is freedom.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Like I'm always looking at what are my values, my top value is freedom.
- 25:38Speaker 2: So if something is going to cramp, that that's going to be a solid note.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Just like health is always a top value and this is something that you guys need to ask yourselves as listeners.
- 25:49Speaker 2: If you're working on your healing journey and you have physical symptoms that are not going away, health better be up there.
- 25:55Speaker 2: If it's not a top value, then you're not going to do anything that's aligned with bettering your health.
- 26:00Speaker 2: So your values yeah, your values need to match.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:04Speaker 1: So definitely work on those values.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Maybe we need to have a podcast episode just about that, because I know that you have a little trick about defining values, type of thing.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Alrighty.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Third tip and I know we've mentioned it before, practice gratitude.
- 26:22Speaker 1: When you are in an attitude of gratitude, things are more peaceful, they're more calm.
- 26:27Speaker 1: You're more appreciative.
- 26:28Speaker 1: You have to be.
- 26:30Speaker 1: You have a lot to be thankful for.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Think of everything that's going well with you and around you, even if, like, you're gonna look at me and be like my life is shit.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Right now, everything is shit, you know, but nature isn't.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Look around you're still breathing, your lungs are still functioning, you're still digesting your food.
- 26:48Speaker 1: You're you still.
- 26:48Speaker 1: You can still see and walk.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Still, you can still see and walk.
- 26:51Speaker 1: You still have your arms, you still have your legs.
- 26:53Speaker 1: That means you are still.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Have your things to do.
- 26:57Speaker 1: So try to find the things that are going well in your life.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Um, like I said, if, even if everything's, even in your body, everything is going to shit, look outside, look at nature.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Nature is going to shit.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Look outside look at nature.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Nature is going just fine.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Yeah, Gratitude is huge and I mean that's law of attraction, right?
- 27:16Speaker 2: Call it woo-woo, call it what you want, but you cannot attract more things that you desire in your life without gratitude.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Exactly, because if you're not grateful for what you have, then I mean and sometimes it does.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I mean I don't know if you're going to find it contradictory, but sometimes it's like, sometimes I'm appreciative for the bad shit that's happening, because these are opportunities for me to change or to grow or to do differently.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Like they're there for a reason.
- 27:46Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 27:47Speaker 1: They're there to teach me something or to reflect, or whatnot.
- 27:49Speaker 1: So even the poo-poo, you know, try to.
- 27:49Speaker 1: They're there to teach me something, um, or to to reflect, or whatnot.
- 27:51Speaker 1: So even the poopoo, you know, try to embrace it a little bit yeah you know I might smile, but you know anywho.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Uh, go back to the self-love episode.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Do you remember which one?
- 28:05Speaker 1: it was like number three, two or three, three, two, two or three, two or three, you can scroll yeah, because we talked about how to make a, to make a list of the things that bring you joy, things that bring you happiness, and then to do those things.
- 28:24Speaker 1: So make sure that you go back to the list and if you're not doing at least one a week, start with one a week.
- 28:30Speaker 1: If you're least one a week, start with one a week.
- 28:31Speaker 1: If you're doing one a week, then go to two a week, one a day, et cetera.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Like, work yourself up, but just make sure that you are doing the things that you love, like you mentioned.
- 28:39Speaker 1: If you love dancing, do it.
- 28:40Speaker 1: If you love painting, do it.
- 28:42Speaker 1: If you love I don't know watching funny videos, do it.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Oh, my goodness, louise Hay, in one of her either lectures, lectures or books, she said that she gives an example of someone who healed like some chronic illness or whatever just by watching this three stooges every day.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh that's hysterical, I think, because back in the day, in the 90s or 80s, she used to work with a lot of people who had aids.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Remember the aids pandemic or epidemic, whatever you call it?
- 29:14Speaker 1: Um, I think that was one of them, but yeah so, but watch three stooges then guys, let's watch it or the golden girls.
- 29:25Speaker 1: I love the golden girl I do too.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I really do too, or I love lucy.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, my dad used to watch.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I, I love Lucy.
- 29:33Speaker 1: When the kids were little, cause he, my parents, used to take them to school when they were little, I would drop them off at my parents and then both of them would watch.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Love it.
- 29:42Speaker 2: So many good old shows Like what happened to the good ones.
- 29:44Speaker 2: All right, I think this is it.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Yeah, we covered everything, I think so I mean, you guys have a ton of tools and strategies, but stress is it.
- 29:56Speaker 2: I wasn't joking when I said like, literally, stress could be an entire podcast, like a whole podcast, because there's so much that goes into it.
- 30:05Speaker 2: So don't, don't just brush it aside, don't it, but start listening to those signals.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Yep, and just like usual, if you like the episode, please subscribe and share it with people that you think would benefit.
