- 0:46And of course the link to that. And everything is underneath the
- 0:49video or podcast. So why will an avoidant not
- 0:55chase you after a break up? Even if they broke up with you?
- 0:59Pretty much everyone knows that unless you cheated or took
- 1:02someone for granted. If you're the dumper, it's up to
- 1:05you to try to get your ex back. So what makes the avoidant so
- 1:10different? Well, in order to answer that
- 1:13question we have to 1st talk about when will an avoidant
- 1:17actually chase. It's not like they never chase,
- 1:19contrary to popular opinion. So they will chase in the
- 1:24beginning when you're dating for the first few weeks or months
- 1:28because it's before any emotional history or attachment
- 1:33has occurred. So they are not yet triggered.
- 1:37In other words, if their interest level is not too high,
- 1:40they have no problem chasing. They'll chase for months if
- 1:43necessary, but once it gets going up their interest level,
- 1:47they start to feel vulnerable. And if they think there's a
- 1:50chance of rejection, they'll pull away.
- 1:54They'll also chase after you've been dating for a while if they
- 1:58want to get a commitment, because now they feel secure
- 2:01enough that they won't be rejected.
- 2:03However, after a breakup, even if they were the jumper, they
- 2:09don't want to chase, and here are some reasons why.
- 2:13First one is to avoid conflict. Remember their avoidance.
- 2:18So they do what? That's right.
- 2:19They avoid. Now you may think, oh, they're
- 2:23afraid of confrontation. No, that's not the reason I'm an
- 2:27avoidant and I have no problem with confrontation.
- 2:31It's that we don't want to experience the feeling
- 2:34associated with a conflict or a confrontation, and therefore we
- 2:39would rather just avoid it. The second reason is that they
- 2:44may feel ashamed or guilty for being a bad partner for letting
- 2:48you down. They're like a turtle who
- 2:51doesn't feel safe and they go back into their shell and they
- 2:55don't stick their head out again until they feel safe.
- 2:58And if their interest level is high enough, they will be able
- 3:02to overcome the shame or guilt eventually.
- 3:06The third reason is it's too vulnerable of a feeling they
- 3:10feel. It makes them look weak.
- 3:12And if there's one thing that avoidance hate, it's weakness
- 3:16and neediness in both themselves and in other people.
- 3:20It makes it seem like they're dependent on you and that they
- 3:23need you and that is the last thing they want.
- 3:26They want to appear independent, like they don't need you or
- 3:29anyone. The thought of needing someone
- 3:31is scary because what if that person lets them down?
- 3:35So it's better to not need anyone and to just rely on
- 3:39themselves, and that way they can't be let down.
- 3:41They don't want to give you that much power.
- 3:44That is how avoidance think The fourth reason it is that there's
- 3:49a silent agreement between the two of you that you will be
- 3:52doing the chasing, meaning that every time there was an issue or
- 3:56an argument and they pulled away, you weren't running after
- 4:00them. So if there's now a breakup, why
- 4:03would they behave any differently?
- 4:05Even if they broke up with you, they figure you're going to come
- 4:07looking for them sooner rather than later, since you're the one
- 4:10who's anxious, not them. It's generally not coming from a
- 4:14place of manipulation, but from the fact that it's implied that
- 4:18when they pull away you will chase.
- 4:21And by the way, please give this video a like.
- 4:23It's free to give a like and it will help more people to find it
- 4:27on YouTube. Thank you.
- 4:30All right, the next reason? Fear of rejection.
- 4:34They may want to reach out and solve things, but they fear that
- 4:38they may be rejected. And if you broke up with them,
- 4:41they are definitely not going to chase because they already feel
- 4:44rejected, and they're not going to risk feeling rejected yet
- 4:48again. And avoidant is not going to
- 4:50chase if they've already been rejected.
- 4:53The sixth reason they won't chase if they know they can't or
- 4:58don't want to offer you slash, give you what you want or what
- 5:02you deserve. So if you're anxious and you're
- 5:05listening to this, you're thinking, well, why don't they
- 5:08just figure it out? Why can't they work on work on
- 5:11it so that they can give me what I want?
- 5:14Well, if their interest level is high enough, they will
- 5:18reconsider and come back to give you what you want or need.
- 5:20And I'm going to talk more about interest level towards the end
- 5:23of the video because it's going to apply to everything that I'm
- 5:26saying in this video about why an avoidance won't chase after a
- 5:29breakup. So stay tuned, all right?
- 5:31We have just a few more #7. They won't chase right after a
- 5:35breakup because it's easier to just focus on other aspects of
- 5:39their life. Yes, they are repressing their
- 5:42feelings for you and you need to let them go through that stage
- 5:47because if you contact them when they're in that stage, you will
- 5:51not like their response, or you may not get any response at all,
- 5:54and then that will set you back. And if you're anxious, then you
- 5:58may spiral and start contacting them and then it just goes
- 6:02downhill from there. So let them go through their
- 6:05stages. Reason #8, They value composure
- 6:11and non reactivity. The idea of of chasing is very
- 6:16distressing for an avoidance. Whenever they think about it,
- 6:18they get the I factor, the IG factor.
- 6:23They see it as chaotic and out of control and they want to stay
- 6:26away from chaos and drama as much as possible.
- 6:31Reason #9. They have mixed feelings about
- 6:35what will happen after they chase you.
- 6:38So if they have to both repair and make amends with you and
- 6:42then discuss the future of the relationship, that just might be
- 6:46too much for them, too much emotion to process.
- 6:50So deactivating the attachment feels like a more efficient way
- 6:53of doing things. And I'm not saying they're doing
- 6:55this consciously. Often it's a subconscious
- 6:58process. And then finally, the final
- 7:01reason we made it. They want to see if you will
- 7:05reach out to them and this will be evidence that you care.
- 7:10And if you don't reach out to them, they will think that you
- 7:13don't care, even though they are the ones who are supposed to
- 7:16reach out to you unless you cheated or took them for
- 7:20granted. And by taking for granted, I
- 7:22mean that they felt like they weren't important to you.
- 7:25You weren't giving them time, you weren't listening to them.
- 7:28That's what I define as taken for granted.
- 7:31Again, they may be doing this subconsciously, but there's also
- 7:36a good possibility that they are doing it consciously, that
- 7:39they're thinking, you know what, I want to see how interested
- 7:41they are. Even though I woke up with them,
- 7:43I'm going to wait and see if they reach out to me.
- 7:47So that's what is happening. If they don't reach out to you
- 7:51because they want to see how much you care.
- 7:55Now I mentioned that I was going to talk about interest level,
- 7:59and I learned about interest level from my good friend Doc
- 8:02Love. And he said interest level
- 8:07Trump's everything. So luckily for you, if you were
- 8:11dating an avoidant, you probably, as you were listening
- 8:15to this thought, Oh no, Oh my God, I'm screwed.
- 8:17I'm never going to get my avoidant back.
- 8:19They're not going to chase me, they're not going to come after
- 8:20me or I'm going to have to break no contact.
- 8:22Now I don't want to do that because she always says don't
- 8:24break no contact. What am I going to do?
- 8:27Well, luckily with an avoidant or with anyone actually.
- 8:31But if you leave them alone, FAB will kick in.
- 8:34And I talked about FAB in my video titled 7 Reasons Why No
- 8:38Contact works on everyone. That video has over 2 million
- 8:42views. I can't believe it and I will
- 8:44link it in the upper right hand corner here on YouTube.
- 8:49So by leaving them alone, they'll go through their
- 8:52process, they'll go through FAB and if they're interested enough
- 8:56they will reach out. You do not have to reach out.
- 8:59OK, so please do not break no contact.
- 9:02And if you're interested in finding out more about interest
- 9:04level from Doc Love, there is a link underneath every single
- 9:08video and you can check out his book the system and you can also
- 9:12read 10 free chapters. That's right, 10 before you

- 9:22below in the comments who initiated the breakup?
