- 0:15[SPEAKER_03]: That is the revolution.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, let's go, dude.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_03]: I'm fired up today.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_03]: We're doing drinking bros earlier at an excellent conversation about Russia this morning.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_03]: I'm ready to get in.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_03]: So it's a Jesse and take our child to emergency care for an earache jacks if you're watching.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_03]: You shouldn't be.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_03]: not allowed watch this program but uh uh hope you're feeling better buddy and yeah that's the trials and tribulations of having three kids especially when they're not in school and all they want to do is swim all day and uh
- 1:18[SPEAKER_03]: beat each other to death.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_03]: That's that's kind of what it is with with wet noodles.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_03]: I think you got hit by a wet pool noodle or something.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_03]: That'll do it.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_03]: They were in the world cup party in the neighborhood, which was fun for all the kids.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_03]: Soccer's growing, man.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_03]: Every single kid was wearing a messy jersey or Ronaldo or something running around the neighborhood.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_03]: jumping in and out of the pool.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_03]: It was fun, but now he's paying the price.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_03]: The morning should be back on Thursday.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_03]: You guys have what?
- 1:45[SPEAKER_03]: Crime corner Marananko?
- 1:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: We got crime corner tomorrow night.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I won't tease the case yet because I'm not sure exactly when it's coming out.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, tomorrow evening will be over.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_03]: Don't cock tease it.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_03]: I got wrote into another crime documentary with her last night.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_03]: This is like the
- 2:03[SPEAKER_03]: Peterson fucking one a bunch with Lacey Peterson and Scott Peterson and the chick and we have new bombshell evidence.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_03]: This is like the sixth one with new bombshell evidence.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_03]: I guess that what's that group that gets involved in those cases for free they're pretty famous.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_03]: oh yeah we uh we've covered some cases that they've done let me see yeah and like they went a lot of them freedom foundation or something something like that um but uh they went on they ended winning a lot of these what I told her last night when we were watching it was it feels like because there isn't enough content to fill all this shit is it called the freedom foundation
- 2:43[SPEAKER_03]: are projects for them.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: There's the innocence project.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_03]: That's it.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_03]: The innocence project.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_03]: That's one is it handling this one.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_03]: And when I told her last night, what it feels like is because there is no television, we're just taking the biggest cases and then just trying to find ways in which these these people are innocence, I actually goes back to that drink and brush that we talked about earlier.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_03]: Everything's a conspiracy.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_03]: Every single thing is a conspiracy now, and nobody can just die or be murdered or something like it's it's a conspiracy that we've got to uncover bombshell reports everywhere bombshell bombshell bombshell And you're like, all right, I'm watching this thing last night and I'm like Is this just one part?
- 3:26[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's got to be nine parts now and you got to watch all nine parts.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_03]: and God forbid you miss one of them and all other shit you know this this I'm so happy brought this up so I just watched this one on Netflix this is another one holy shit yeah this is any who's got bombshell evidence now that's uh Scott couldn't have done this and
- 3:50[SPEAKER_03]: It appears to be dudes who set out on this path to prove that it's a conspiracy, and then they leave it up to you.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_03]: And it's like, okay, cool, man.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_03]: I can't go over this case anymore.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_03]: I don't like that making a murder.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_03]: I knew that fucking dude did it 10 seconds in when I was just like, nope, that's a creep right there.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_03]: They fucking murdered that chick with his retard brother.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_03]: Now, should the retard brother have gone to jail?
- 4:14[SPEAKER_03]: Probably, and I didn't know what he was doing.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_03]: He's sitting in a corner, being retarded, you know, normal.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_03]: I think normal shit would have been written on a chair fit to spam trial.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but you know, I haven't heard any backlash on that of like, oh, no, and she's no, yep, we we think he's definitely guilty.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_03]: You know, but with all this shit, uh, yeah, that's what I got wrote into last night.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_03]: I wish I had an earache for Christ sex.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_03]: It's said that I wouldn't have to watch this.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_03]: The other thing that I wish I didn't have to watch was the Odyssey this weekend.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_03]: So, my child wanted to see the Odyssey.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_03]: I think they're at the age where they're reading it now, like the books and stuff.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_03]: Well, there is websites out there, if you're a parent, that can tell you if there's nudity, if there's violence, why the movies rated R, before you go in, which is great.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_03]: So with all that, while you're doing it, you kind of breeze down everything and say, all right, it's as a parent.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_03]: This is what I'm okay with my kids seeing.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_03]: This is what I'm not okay with them seeing.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like enough of them swear in middle school that I'm like cool or over that.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_03]: Now I was shocked to see that it was in there.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_03]: Like to my knowledge, they didn't use the word fucking in the Odyssey.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: not that I'm aware of that even a word back in those times it might have Latin roots I don't know fuck has a really really confusing history to it Okay, I'll see if I can pull some up for it.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_03]: So that was one of my major problems with this film is when they said there was language and shit.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_03]: I was like
- 5:43[SPEAKER_03]: Why?
- 5:43[SPEAKER_03]: To my knowledge, none of those words existed back then, so why would it exist now?
- 5:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yep, you're absolutely right.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_03]: There are no Latin roots to the word fuck.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_03]: So it was jarring when Matt Damon said it on this boat.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, okay, that feels like improv.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_03]: There was some other lines that felt like improv for me from Matt Damon.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_03]: Um, one of them was, uh, they were fighting this, uh, Cyclops monster or whatever it was.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_03]: And one guy comes up to him and says, and this is a spoiler alert.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_03]: I think everybody knows this in the trailer.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_03]: But but the line is, do you think we should reason with him?
- 6:20[SPEAKER_03]: And Matt Damon just turns him and just seemed like him probably goes, I don't think we'll wait past that point now.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_03]: And that was his exact words.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_03]: Now, if they would have framed this like Romeo and Juliet did with the Leonardo DiCaprio and all those guys was like, hey, it's a modern retelling of this.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to use our own dialogue, a bunch of different races, gender, sexes, all that other shits.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_03]: I could have understood that and probably got behind it.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_03]: But the fact that this was nowhere near the book that I read is a kid or was forced to as a kid.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_03]: It was odd man the whole thing felt odd.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_03]: I'll start with my first thing.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_03]: I know you think I'm going to go in the looped in a longer which I will but the first thing was the American accents
- 7:05[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think I've ever seen a movie from that time period that has ever been portrayed in American accents before.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think we're all so conditioned that it's going to be British, that it felt strange to see it.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_03]: And here's why there's a ton of great actors in this.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_03]: I think in my opinion too many.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's too many stars in this where it becomes jarring too, where every scene had a different celebrity in it where you're like, oh.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_03]: There's that person.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_03]: There's that person.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_03]: There's that person.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_03]: But they've only got like one or two scenes a piece and then that's that's kind of it.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_03]: Now the problem with an American accents is they're different depending upon what part of the country you're from.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_03]: So if you're from the South, you're gonna have a Southern accents.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_03]: John Bernthal, one of my favorite actors there is right now.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_03]: Love him.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_03]: I'd love this podcast before he stopped doing it.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_03]: He had, you know, he's kind of like this New Yorker thing going on, and that was in the movie.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_03]: But he's talking to other characters who don't have a New York accent.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_03]: So where are you from here?
- 8:05[SPEAKER_03]: Are you from Greece?
- 8:06[SPEAKER_03]: Is that where we're from?
- 8:07[SPEAKER_03]: Or is what?
- 8:08[SPEAKER_03]: What are we doing here with all these different American accents?
- 8:12[SPEAKER_03]: That I could not get used to.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_03]: The dialect itself for the words, like with fucking and things like that.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_03]: I was in a book that I read, so like that seemed fucking weird for the time, like not now, but back then it would, and yeah, so I was surprised to see that.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_03]: I was surprised that some of the scenes did feel like there was a little improv in it, and then the million different races and genders thing is last of this for me, where
- 8:43[SPEAKER_03]: opens up a Travis Scott, the very opening scene is Travis Scott, which look, he's an okay rapper.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's better known for killing all those people down on Houston, whatever, or the Kardashians, I think, right?
- 8:59[SPEAKER_03]: It was a strange choice that he was in the movie and then immediately the next scene was Elliott Page.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_03]: Right there.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_03]: That started off, those two characters started off the movie for the Odyssey.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, whoa, dude, we are not seeing anything from this time period whatsoever.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Nolan came out swinging with that one.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_03]: He did.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_03]: Why, though?
- 9:20[SPEAKER_03]: Why is the question?
- 9:23[SPEAKER_03]: You know, with Elliott Page in the Trans thing, that was already a division.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_03]: And then,
- 9:34[SPEAKER_03]: I've certainly felt deliberate.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know why you would do that.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know why you would even cast that person.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_03]: Why even invite the controversy in?
- 9:43[SPEAKER_03]: Because when we did this show, I don't know, let's call it three or four weeks ago, I was really curious to see if this was going to pop.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_03]: And I had two schools of thought on this.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_03]: Christopher Nolan is the greatest living director right now in my opinion.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if you guys agree with that.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, Tarantino hasn't put out a movie in a while.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, 100%.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I'm all in a Christopher Nolan.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_03]: I think I've loved every single one of his movies.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I've defended every single one of his movies from the odd choices and the choose your own endings, which typically I'm not a fan of.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_03]: However, the way he did it.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_03]: It was the choice that I thought was appropriate.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_03]: And I wanted, not was willing to go along for the ride.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_03]: So even though like the woke shit was in the movie, which there was a lot of it, I'm still willing to go along for the ride for Christopher Nolan because that's how much I love this guy as a director.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's how talented I think he is.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_03]: Now, on the flip side of this, if you're looking for some good in it,
- 10:39[SPEAKER_03]: Visually, it's still a Christopher Nolan movie.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_03]: Looks beautiful, shot, beautiful.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_03]: He shot it in Super 70, the problem with that with 70 millimeter film is, there is only 25 theaters in the nation currently.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_03]: That supports 70 millimeter film, so why do it?
- 10:59[SPEAKER_03]: Um, that one, uh, if you, I guess if you were able to see it, there's 25 theaters, awesome congratulations.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe you had a different experience in the rest of us, but, uh, yeah, you can put that on screen.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_03]: There's only 25 theaters in America with super 70 capabilities, um, one of them is in Hollywood, and I saw the hateful eight in it.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_03]: That's all Tarantino shot, the hateful eight.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_03]: And it was beautiful, and fun, and stay at an intermission, and a little orchestra play during intermission.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_03]: And he really made it feel like an old timey movie experience.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_03]: It was fucking awesome.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_03]: It's like one of those once in a lifetime things.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_03]: but there's only 25 of those theaters.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_03]: So to spend that much money on it, to break even what I heard, just to break even on that movie, you gotta be in that 45 500 million level.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_03]: Because I believe they spent 250 on production and then another 200 on P&A, which is advertising.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_03]: And I thought, with all the negative backlash before the movie came out, there's no way in fucking hell that it would get there.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_03]: Now, Bluke, I was stunned to see the opening numbers of this movie.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_03]: I think it did 174 in just America alone.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_03]: And I want to say 275 total globally on opening fucking weekend.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: yeah uh... it has a hundred twenty four million dollar opening weekend but that's here to mess with it's what's the total go to uh... just go to google and type it in uh... and see what the world wide is uh... we've got uh... we've got uh... slav in the chat here saying that movie theaters across the nation have confirmed that the audacity tickets were brought uh... bought up
- 12:35[SPEAKER_03]: uh... to fake the box office numbers and he claims that he sent evidence of this to the drinking bros instagram account he deemed it to us if you want to check it okay great um... i i actually will because uh... fuck he didn't know this is going to be part of the show today but it is going to be part of the show today um... actually because uh... let's let's let's find the global number first what was it was a two seventy five total look
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: What's the second?
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to the end of your own home.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: Open it.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not just type in global.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't give you the answer.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's 275.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_03]: 264.1.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_03]: So pretty fucking close here.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_03]: Now that's half your your recoup there to break even.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_03]: It's fantastic, that is the highest opening number in Christopher Nolan's entire career.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_03]: And for one of the greatest directors of all time, if that is your opening number, you win.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_03]: Even if the movie is shitty, and even if you're finding these things for the box office, I don't know how you fake $275 million, guys.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know how to do that.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_03]: the math doesn't math on that.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_03]: If you're asking me to believe the election shit in 2020, which I do, I don't think those results were correct.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know how, and that I know how to, I understand, double counting and illegal's voting and all that other shit, like I understand how they're, they're able to beef up numbers.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, money is money, you know?
- 14:16[SPEAKER_03]: This is way too fucking high.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry, you cannot fake $264 million.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_03]: Now, do studios go in and buy out tickets in large groups around the nation?
- 14:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, yes, they do.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_03]: What are you looking at, Koop?
- 14:31[SPEAKER_03]: We're tracking down the stuff that slob's in over.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, either way.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_03]: Guys, faking $264 million.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_03]: That's a lot.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_03]: And for one movie, I don't know any studio who would do that.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that would be pretty much their entire advertising budget would.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_03]: Fuck yeah, would.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I don't know anybody who would do that or could financially do it.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_03]: Unless it's.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_03]: I have the ultimate call of Chris for no one family.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_03]: Like, what's the.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_03]: What's the good in it?
- 15:05[SPEAKER_03]: What's the good in faking a box office that high?
- 15:09[SPEAKER_03]: And now your argument could be, I guess.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe they want all this workshits to go movies and hey, we're gonna normalize trans shit and all these fucking people and blah, blah, blah, blah, right?
- 15:20[SPEAKER_03]: But that's a lot of money.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know how to do that in movies.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_03]: And I've never seen it done before.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I've seen studios going in by out 20 to 50 seats and theaters and make the numbers look good for the madness.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, you hear about people like buying for like books, you'll hear of them like buy off a bunch of books to get onto the rights.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's tell or less, that's sort of thing.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_03]: Great example.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_03]: So that goes on and then they usually send them to warehouses.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_03]: One of our listeners actually delivered, I think it was Simon and Schuster.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_03]: Delivered a shit ton of books to a warehouse and then took a picture of her for me, took a picture of the lady, the thing, and I looked it up and it was like, yeah, this lady made the New York Times bestseller list.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_03]: That's not very costly.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_03]: Like a hardback.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_03]: Hardback for Simon and Schuster to make is seven bucks so, you know, and you only need, I think it's 5,000, right around that number to get on the hardbook list opening week.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, what's 5,000 times 7.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: 35 grand and in that situation getting on to the New York Times best seller list is what's going to get you all the money that's going to sell the rest of the books.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_02]: They're inflating the numbers.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_02]: It really doesn't make any financial sense for them.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: Unless it's purely an ideological victory that they're looking for, but who are you going to get to invest in an ideological victory?
- 16:38[SPEAKER_02]: Like not studio exact.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_03]: And so to that point, will somebody pay 35 grand for books?
- 16:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's not a big dollar amount, who cares?
- 16:47[SPEAKER_03]: somebody pay $400 million?
- 16:48[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_03]: To get this going, or I'm sorry, $265 to get this going.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_03]: If you were, oh, you were able to find it.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it looks like this is it here.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_03]: So go back and read it.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_03]: I'll all entertain this.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_03]: Let's go.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: So from Mr. obvious, I'm Twitter.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: He says breaking the Odyssey is faking ticket sales by buying up feeders, slash seats for odd to make the movie look
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: like a success, already $400 million in the whole.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: Moviegoaters are reporting having to take terrible seats because full, but when they show up, the theaters are mostly empty.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, so I work in a movie theater and honestly, I was expecting tons of people, something like the Sardines in the SpongeBob episode.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: Instead, it was pretty chill, it was actually kind of empty.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't that strange?
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: I keep seeing posts on social media saying that the
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: quite match up with what I'm seeing, maybe it's in other countries.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: Things we've noticed a lot of tickets were bought and still being about online, but very few people are actually showing up at the theater, which makes no sense.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: I've talked to people, rather theater locations, and they're seeing the exact same thing.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder what you all think there have been a lot of noise about this, especially with what's been going on personally at online, because it's been a pretty chill shift and not a lot of work.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: Spider-Man is around the corner, though, and kids,
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: But I am pretty much everyone loves Spidey, so busy days at.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, everybody's going to turn off for Spidey, man.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not a big comic book guy, obviously.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: And even I can understand like that.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: I was going to crash, right?
- 18:18[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, I love Tom Holland to Spidey, man.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_03]: So for me, I went on a Sunday.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_03]: I think we went at noon to see it.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_03]: Excuse me, Saturday at noon.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_03]: So second day it was open.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_03]: Movie wasn't that packed.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_03]: 40% full tops, maybe 35 somewhere in there, and that was it, which, yes, that did seem strange to me.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, I do know, in the past, studios have bought like 50 tickets here, 50 tickets there.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_03]: This is way too many tickets to buy though, man.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you're, fuck.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they kind of, the box office numbers are, that's not like,
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: propaganda, you know what I mean?
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's something that the theater companies and the production companies use decide if they want to hire Chris Nolan again, you know what I mean?
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: Right, so it's like a metric that they need to be accurate, you know what I mean?
- 19:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and the other thing is, um,
- 19:16[SPEAKER_03]: with movies the the biggest key to their success is word of mouth.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_03]: So second weekend is this weekend coming up is what I all all I should be on.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_03]: So let's say the somebody did pay this off, right?
- 19:30[SPEAKER_03]: They can't keep paying it off.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_03]: So if this movie drops massively next weekend, which
- 19:38[SPEAKER_03]: I expected to because it was it was it was awful.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_03]: Like it was an awful film.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_03]: Then yeah, now what you can fake is is these rotten tomato tomato reviews here.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_03]: So it wasn't 97 is it still in 97 right now is that 95?
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: The Critics score is 95.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: The audience scores 97.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think that's how to do it.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, those can absolutely be bots and bought up in all that other shit.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_03]: They've had very bad problems without in the past.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: With this, yeah, this was already a 97% before the movie came out, which is also Christopher Nolan's highest rated rotting tomatoes movie of all time.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_03]: And no, there's no way.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we went over his list the other day, man.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_03]: If you're looking at the Dark Knight Rises and interstellar and fuck, all, I mean, ception, andception, all of his great films, this is nowhere near that.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you've had a review where somebody's not having a good time.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: You gave it one star.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: He says, the theater was evacuated an hour into the movie and the rest of the 70 millimeter showings were booked for the next couple of weeks.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, damn, bro.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_03]: I know.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, man.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_03]: I know.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_03]: And look, I know there's a lot of Christopher Nolan fans who actually traveled to go see it in 70.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_03]: That's how big of a fan base he has.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_03]: So maybe it is him, right?
- 21:01[SPEAKER_03]: But I just, I wonder if the word of mouth this week with everybody talking about it is good or bad for it.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_03]: The other ones I found weird were like the guys like Ben Shapiro or Ruben, you know, who are
- 21:16[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, get woke, go broke guys, you know, and so am I, we're saying, oh, this, this is the greatest movie I've ever seen.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's, it's not like I, and I realize art is subjective, and you might love it.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_03]: You guys might love it.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I try to go in with an open mind for everything.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, one of the movies, Chit that Dan and I argue about was last year, one battle after another.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_03]: I personally love that film, and I think I knew what he was going for, and I predicted the Oscars.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_03]: As soon as I walked out of that movie, I was like, I'm not a big fan of Sean Penn politically, but I was going to fucking Oscar for this.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_03]: He was incredible in this goddamn movie, and I liked the goddamn movie, even though some people say it was woke, I thought he wrote it for two different reasons, which he does with all of his shit, and it did really, really fucking well.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_03]: but these opening weekend numbers are so fucking massive.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know how to fake that.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_03]: So you was like, you've made a lot of movies yourself.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_02]: You think that there's any, well, sorry, I should add to that.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: Very excellent movies yourself.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think that there's actually any
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: possible way that if a company did want to secretly pump 250 million dollars into inflating the first weekend sales.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_02]: Now, would that, that there's no way it would increase interest enough to recoup that loss in future sales?
- 22:37[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't know how you'd do it.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know who's got that kind of money.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, no one's got a blank check every movie he does.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_03]: He's one of the very, very few left that are out there.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_03]: Well, they'll say, hey, just make whatever you want.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_03]: We'll pay for it.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_03]: Because you know what you're getting is potentially going to win an Oscar and he doesn't miss.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_03]: This was his only missed to me.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_03]: I've loved every single movie he's done.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_03]: But there is no way to pump in $200 million like that.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that would have to be on a political scale campaign.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_03]: should be be lucky to get that as a candidate like you know what I'm saying like a presidential candidate would be lucky to get it.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_03]: If you look at it, Kamala Harris's entire campaign was 1.2 billion.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_03]: So you're looking at one you would be paying 1.6 to that to inflate these numbers essentially like makes sense.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_03]: This makes sense and I again I'm not a big conspiracy guy and I understand what you guys are saying but
- 23:38[SPEAKER_03]: I don't, I just don't see how it's possible.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_03]: I really don't.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_03]: You can't fake money.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_03]: You have a money?
- 23:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's got to go somewhere.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_03]: Now, if it was just a ticket and there was a guy counting tickets there, sure.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_03]: You know, as I got a fake ticket, I got a thing or whatever, like, but for money, this much money to go out the door?
- 23:57[SPEAKER_03]: No, there's just absolutely no way.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_03]: Now, rotten tomatoes, I think it was rigged.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think on IMTB, it has 8.4.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's still a, you know, it's still very good for Andy B, but I'm, all these people are shitty anyways, but like, I mean, they gave, if you go to Shawshank, there was like 10,000 people gave that a one star or just like, okay, but, and then maybe might be saying that this is the same thing about me at home today, we're like, hey dude, I saw this movie and I love this movie.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't, I don't know how and.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_03]: It is rare that I walk out of something.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think I've walked out of three in my life.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_03]: And I gave it two and a half hours.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_03]: I heard the movie was three and a half.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_03]: But nothing really happened, either.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_03]: It was just like, okay, there was a couple cool scenes here and there, but not enough first story.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_03]: I think it had more to do with the scripts.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_03]: And then the casting of it, it was just, there was Koreans on the boat at one point.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_03]: You get, you know, history better than I do.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's, it's a bit of a stretch.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think there was a whole, there was contact between the, the Mediterranean countries in the Orient there was trade and stuff like that, but as far as an actual Korean Korean, I don't know if Korea was even a thing back then.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_03]: I don't either.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_03]: And like there was so many questions where I'm like, all right, well, these black dudes here like.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_03]: Why, how on Ellen of Detroit, obviously, like, why, like, and it's distracting, that, like, every scene, there was, there was some distraction in it, and when you could finally get past it, like, in half the way it was, was great, Pattinson, who I don't typically like was actually very good, Tom Owen, they kept referring to him as a child.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_03]: He started years old, and it's like he was playing.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_03]: Spider-Man before he turns Spider-Man before he puts the suit on, he's got such a baby face that I know.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like that's one of the more believable ones.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_03]: And then Alan Page drawing out there in the fucking gear and getting shot up, you're just like, man, I can't do this.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_03]: And then she, he, it, whatever we're calling her, has got a different voice now.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_03]: So the voice is deep, and I don't know if they did it in post-production, or that's
- 26:14[SPEAKER_03]: or actual voice now.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_03]: And again, there's so many distractions that are taking away from a movie experience.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_03]: I would rather just go and see a movie and not know and be like, okay, great.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_03]: But instead, every scene, there was something or someone that I questioned, where I was like, why is this person in this, you know?
- 26:37[SPEAKER_03]: And it just didn't end through the whole thing.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_03]: And so I was just like, I can't, my legs and my kid and I go, hey,
- 26:42[SPEAKER_03]: We've going to a lot of moves together.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_03]: He loves going to movies.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_03]: And I go, it's rare that dad wants to leave.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_03]: I go, I'll stay if you want to stay.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_03]: And he goes, no, this is boring.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_03]: Is this thing?
- 26:53[SPEAKER_03]: Now, you also could say, hey, do the Odyssey itself was fucking boring.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_03]: The book, which me personally, you know, it was.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: The book is a boring read, but boring read is of it or cool.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_02]: When you just go through and put the action together and the story and put it in a language that's understandable.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, some people are asking about the historical things, accuracy of it.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_03]: There's a million reviews on it about how historically inaccurate it is.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not the guy for that.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_03]: You can watch those reviews and there's a million of them.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_03]: And most of them, by the way, have been to do with race and gender and who did what.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_03]: And so that I understand at the end of the day, but man,
- 27:35[SPEAKER_03]: the love, the love and the money for this movie.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_03]: I've never seen anything like it.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_03]: I really haven't.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_03]: And I guess if you were trying to say, hey, we're going to make some sound or something about this or some conspiracy about it.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to dump in all this money into it.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_03]: Christopher Nolan would be your guy.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: He's had a the director's guild as well and the very best there isn't the world.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you could say he's like the modern day Stanley Cooper.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's 100% until he is.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: 100%.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: So you could say that I just don't know how you keep doing it.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_03]: And then it could be a fucking massive joke at the end of the day where he just comes out and he says, you know what, man?
- 28:17[SPEAKER_03]: Once they changed all those rules for the Oscars where you had to have trance and disabled people and everything else.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_03]: If he just comes out and says, you know what, I just did it just to do it.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_03]: Fuck you guys.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_03]: Because this is so dumb.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_03]: I would laugh my ass off and I think it's the greatest guy of all time.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_03]: Like I really would.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_02]: That is the number one thing that has been popping in my head that if Christopher Nolan is going to be good.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be pretty.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, then.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: And then the actual piece of art that he's putting out is the audience reaction to what it is that he put together.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I do also think that I don't know what Christopher Nolan's politics are, but considering that he's in Hollywood, I assume that he's a liberal.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but if he was like a closeted conservative and putting all of this together, just is.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: as a way to highlight the ridiculousness of what the Oscars are doing now.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: What do you be brilliant?
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think his movies, if you look at the themes of his movies, they're actually due to tend to be more conservative.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you look at Batman, as like a superhero, is technically more conservative than other superheroes.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: A wealthy white man that's concerned about crime, you know.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: If you look at, um,
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I mean, all of his movies are kind of like that.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's, I don't know, but here's the thing.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't think there was anything political in those movies.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: Well, every movie has some sort of, there's something going on in the theme with every movie.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_03]: Well, the story is more.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_03]: The real one that was polarizing also was that one battle after another.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_03]: And oddly enough, I left it thinking, if you were, let's say you went
- 29:54[SPEAKER_03]: you look at it and you're like, holy shit dude, uh, think I'm doing this and I never want to be like these people.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, if you're on the left, you go in and watch that movie and you think, yeah, dude, they're fucking revolutionaries are standing up for shit and they're, you know, uh, resisting and against the man and you're like, man, if I had to live my whole life like that, I would fucking kill myself.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_03]: or believe in conspiracies and all that other shit.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: That movie made it seem like to me, it made both sides look kind of bad in different ways.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I thought, and I thought it was a nice, like moment of like, hey, it's your choice, man.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_03]: You can look at both sides of this and decide which side you want to be on here and it's up to you.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't think they were going one way or the other and I enjoyed the film and I thought the acting was great and they don't give you an answer at the end.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_03]: This is what this is or not what it is.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_03]: And for the conspiracy theorists out there, it does end in a conspiracy where it's the government's behind everything.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_03]: I'll answer some of your questions here in the chat because there's a lot.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_03]: OK, let's see.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_03]: Assaulty Taxons is Ag a Memons, whatever.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_03]: I know I'm going to fuck this up.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_03]: Armor was super annoying.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_03]: It's like they tried to mix Darth Vader and Batman or a farming it looked horrible and plastic.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, that was another note that I had about this movie and you and I were talking about this right before we came on here.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_03]: The Trojan Horse was bronze.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_03]: All the things that I had read and seen and everything else it was it was made of wood, right?
- 31:25[SPEAKER_02]: Well, because I think even from the original story they had disassembled some of their ships to make the Trojan Horse.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I thought too,
- 31:39[SPEAKER_03]: That, that, it's, again, it's these little things in every single scene where you're like, okay, uh, somebody else is asking about AMC and how people report real quick.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_02]: This is Agamemnon's armor here, and this is fucking ridiculous.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: He looks like that, that shack super here.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_03]: It looks like that man, that's when the character pops out by the way, it looks like that man, you're like, okay.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_03]: But people are asking like how you report from the theaters.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_03]: So you have to physically either order online or walk up to the theater and pay.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_03]: I walked up to the theater with a credit card.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_03]: I was in a theater that didn't have a sign seating, a lot of theaters have a sign seating now.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_03]: So,
- 32:18[SPEAKER_03]: With a guy who was talking about it there earlier in the chat, it was Slav from my Slav, there was one film that I went to, opening weekend that all, it was like 10 of us in there, but my block, and this was a sign seeding, though.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_03]: My block said that all of these seats were sold out, and nobody came.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_03]: Like three entire rows were empty.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_03]: Opening weekend, and it was like, I don't see it was like drastic park or something like that.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_03]: I was with my kid, my kid's like, oh dude, I thought the movie was doing well,
- 32:48[SPEAKER_03]: It is, but yeah, that money would have to come from someone else.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_03]: It's not that theaters that would jack that up at all.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_03]: If it was up to the theaters, it would jack up every movie because they theaters make money off of concessions.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_03]: That's it.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_03]: They don't really make a lot of money.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_03]: Like the split is so 80, 20 on movies.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_03]: Like the studio makes 80, they make 20, and then they make money off a concession stands.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_03]: The concession is why your popcorn is.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_03]: 15 dollars.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_03]: That's worth of money.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it's easy to not front 100 million dollars.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think so either.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_03]: And so like I want to take that possibility off the table.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't think it's there.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_03]: Now again, the second weekend will determine what this is actually going to do.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_03]: If it falls off the face of the earth, it does.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_03]: There was a movie when I was growing up that did really well opening weekend with Will Smith called the Wild Wild West.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_03]: Look up the Wild Wild West opening weekend, box office numbers.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: You know what, that's actually an example of early race swapping in Hollywood because then the original TV show, the character West, I think it's Jim West or something like that.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_02]: The character that he plays is a white dude.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have the numbers for it?
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so it earned $27 million during its opening weekend and it reached a total of $40 million for the full independent day holiday frame.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_03]: So 40 million for opening weekend.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_03]: So back in the day, that was pretty fucking good because I think wasn't in the 90s.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_03]: Today's inflation, you can pretty much double that.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_03]: So that probably would have came out about 80, 88 million for today's standards.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's had a production budget of 170 million.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_03]: And then it's just shit the better a second weekend.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_03]: So you start to get into these territories where
- 34:28[SPEAKER_03]: You make a movie for 200 million bucks or 150 in above with the advertising and all that shit.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_03]: You've got to essentially double that to break even and then everything else after that is profit.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_03]: The last possibility here is that everybody loves Christopher Nolan so much that they simply don't care.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_03]: And they're just willing to go see anything he does over and over and over again, analyze it, look for Easter eggs, all that other shit.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_03]: And maybe he's like the Taylor Swift of filmmaking right now where it's just, I don't care what you put out.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to be there, I support shit, and I'm looking for the 80 different things behind the scenes.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe there was something drop in the sand or something like that.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_03]: And maybe he just is that famous as a director where it's just your going to see a shit over and over again.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I mean realistically as far as modern or like current popular directors that do put a lot of hidden symbolism in their films, no one would probably be at the top of the list.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_02]: If you are the type of person that wants to repeatedly see a movie to find hidden details, but I mean there's a lot of repeat viewers to get the numbers up that high.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_03]: And then somebody else in the chat is asking about the 70 millimeters and why it's sold out for weeks and weeks.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_03]: That is true because there is a lot of traditionalists who want to see it in 70, like that's super 70.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_03]: People were buying those tickets a year ago, yeah, and they went on sale a year ago.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_03]: So all of that is legit.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_03]: I would love to tell you otherwise, but no, what you don't want to do is run a 70, a movie in 70, and then have nobody in the theaters.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_03]: That would be embarrassing people would take pictures online and like you would know that it's fake.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_03]: So Yeah, it's hard to buy the conspiracy.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder if the audience though was was half like me where I already went in with a negative feeling about it and I could admit that But you can always change my mind.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_03]: I went in with a negative feeling about one bet one battle after another
- 36:26[SPEAKER_03]: I have to read in some of those reviews and I was like, how are you feeling after the first 15 minutes of one battle after another?
- 36:33[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't know what I was, I didn't know what the fuck it was.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, well, the fuck is going on.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: That first 15 minutes man, that was a wild ride.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_03]: No shit, the whole thing.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you like black girls on the black girls.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_03]: You're just like, whoa, shit, okay.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_03]: But there's a lot of movies like that that surprise me or have a great ending and, you know, maybe I didn't
- 36:55[SPEAKER_03]: two thirds of it and then the ending was redeeming or something like that, I just saw one, is that we see we literally see everything.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_03]: I thought the way about disclosure day with Spielberg.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_03]: just thought the story was a mess, the messaging was a mess, all of it, and I didn't like the film.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_03]: And I love Steven Spielberg.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_03]: I love all of his movies.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: Spielberg has kind of been, I mean, one was his like the last really good movie, you know?
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is he, he hasn't been doing amazing lately.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_03]: What was his last movie in general?
- 37:23[SPEAKER_03]: Was it super eight?
- 37:24[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, it was an Oscar movie.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_03]: It was about his family.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_03]: And I think they were Jews.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not kidding.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_03]: Like meet the fables or the fable sins or something like that, what get up, Luke?
- 37:42[SPEAKER_03]: I know he was nominated and so with the actors.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the fablements.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_03]: The fablements, that's it.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_03]: All right, what about before that?
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: Marcus Mumpford.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's a music video.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: Westside story.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, shit.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: Ready player one.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_02]: I've got about ready player one.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, probably some book adaptation.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_03]: Let's see the post west side story was nominated for a bunch of Oscars.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the post was nominated for Oscars.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_03]: Like yeah, it's Steven Stewart.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I didn't know he did the BFG.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: That one was pretty good, too.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, did he really did that, too?
- 38:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, as far as a book adaptation goes on.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so yeah, I mean, uh, it's, and it's fine to miss.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Jesus Christ, we've all missed.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_03]: I don't really care.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, but I, I think also with the, you know, political age we're in right now.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you're, you're going to have problems with all this shit.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_03]: Um, now.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: Hold Dana and the fable man.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_03]: There you go.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_03]: Hold Dana.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Terrence, you know, Hey, Terrence, you know, hey, it's that.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_03]: But the one trap that I hope we don't fall into after this fucking movie is Hollywood saying, see, we told you so.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_03]: We've got to be more inclusive.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_03]: We've got to put trans.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_03]: We've got to have different races.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that's because this one worked.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: Well, typically, well, well, it depends.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if the movie's good, that's what makes people go to the theater, right?
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: If it's bad, I mean, there's like movies that push this sort of narrative, but their bad movie isn't in the bomb.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: I did not watch it yet.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: I did not like it and I knew nothing about it and by the way, so different movie, it sounds like a movie that specific people are going to like, like it's, you know, it's an A24 movie that's like kind of experiment.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_03]: I love HO, but I love H24.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_03]: I just same thing.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_03]: I just didn't like the storyline of it in the script if it would add a better script.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_03]: I think he could have been an accident.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_03]: I think he could have been an excellent film.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't like for a low movie, though, wasn't it?
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_03]: See, so, but that's another thing, though, that made a Gajillion dollars that everybody's trying to figure out.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_03]: And so without when my son was like, why did, because he was like, I don't know, I feel like.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_03]: And that's what I said, I said, he goes, how, how does this do so well?
- 39:55[SPEAKER_03]: Because he didn't like that movie either.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll never always ask him first, because I don't want to put,
- 40:02[SPEAKER_03]: If my my children like anything, I don't want to pollute the waters and say, Dad didn't like it, right?
- 40:07[SPEAKER_03]: I'll just go along with it and be like, great, awesome.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we had a great day today.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_03]: That's more important to me.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_03]: It's just hanging out with my kids versus getting into some fucking argument.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a stupid movie.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_03]: I don't care about that.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_03]: But with backgrounds, he had said the same thing and he goes, uh, because how does this make so much money?
- 40:23[SPEAKER_03]: And I go, well look, if you look at that guy's YouTube following and he's got like six, eight million followers, you only have to
- 40:31[SPEAKER_03]: Based on today's box office sales, you only have to get a quarter million of his fans to go out and see that movie.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_03]: And then you make the money.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_03]: So that could be your new path.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_03]: Obsession was the same way.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_03]: That made like $250 million.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_01]: Got a bit YouTube following.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_01]: That one, though, is a little bit different in my opinion because he did have a YouTube following and like an online following and stuff.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: But the movie was also really good.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I think you're right about the backgrounds that it probably
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: it does not have as wide of an audience as something like obsession.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: So as people went to obsession at the word of mouth spread, and now it's like that movie is way bigger than backwards.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, it's it's crazy, but if you can get 10% of your followers to go and see something,
- 41:15[SPEAKER_03]: You're going to win, you're going to draw in a ton of money, where it's Christopher Nolan and then eight million celebrities, like I was in before the backlash, like I was in.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_03]: I was an amp that he did it.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the day of this got announced, we actually talked about it on air that he was doing the Odyssey and I go, man, why that?
- 41:33[SPEAKER_03]: Like, no one's ever gotten bricked up over the Odyssey, you know?
- 41:38[SPEAKER_03]: It's such a difficult thing to tackle a thousand page book.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_03]: I've never gotten bricked up over the Iliad or anything else and like, I mean, even presidents, they refuse to make movies about presidents.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_03]: There's a movie doing well right now called Young Washington.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_03]: It's about George Washington.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't hear two fucking words about the goddamn movie.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_03]: Um, and then I finally saw the trailer over the weekend, and it's doing really, really fucking well.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody's talking about this, and it's George Washington, and they launched it on America 250th birthday and all that other shit, and I'm like, what is this?
- 42:12[SPEAKER_03]: I don't even know the dude in it for Christ's sake, so that's how little press it's gotten.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_03]: Looks like Andy's circus isn't it?
- 42:17[SPEAKER_03]: That's cool.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_03]: Any circus?
- 42:19[SPEAKER_03]: Is he a monkey running around?
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like it's all he can do or like he's on young Washington shoulder.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_03]: Call him or cool or whatever it is.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_03]: But this movie's doing very well.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_03]: Not one word has been said about it.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_03]: not one word.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_03]: I heard about it through, I followed Chris Pratt on Instagram and he said he just got an out of it and loved it.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, oh, shit.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_03]: I'll look up the trailer.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't even know this existed.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_03]: That was a way that I first heard about it was a Chris Pratt video.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_03]: I'm talking about it.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, let's see.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody's asking me, what's my movie of the year?
- 42:53[SPEAKER_03]: Then if it's not the oddest, see.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_03]: That's a great question, actually, because I've seen fucking everything right now.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_03]: There is some movies I'm waiting to see before I make that decision.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_03]: I think the Tom Cruise movie looks intriguing.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_03]: I have no fucking idea what it's about, though.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_03]: Even after watching the trailer, I think Digger looks amazing.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_03]: Just because it kind of feels like a less gross men type tropic thunder character for Tom Cruise and then I saw an excellent trailer in the theater with Brad Pitt in a dog He's like a special forces guys a retired special forces guy And he gets into a plane crash and he's forced to go over this crazy terrain with his dog Look it up I forget the name of the movie But it comes out knocked over as well or September I believe
- 43:40[SPEAKER_03]: So there's a ton of stuff coming out of the beast.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_03]: It was a crazy lights out trailer and I never heard anything about it.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, whoa.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_03]: So that and digger are coming out.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_03]: I'm excited about that.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_03]: Dune part three.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_03]: No problem.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_03]: I'm excited about that.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_03]: I will watch it because I want to complete it.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_03]: That's the last one, right?
- 44:01[SPEAKER_03]: I saw the first two and I thought there were great.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_03]: But
- 44:05[SPEAKER_03]: The more and more you keep dragging these fucking things out, it's like, okay, great.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_03]: Is it was it a three-part book series?
- 44:11[SPEAKER_02]: No, there's 20, there's 23, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there's 20, there
- 44:41[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to do all of these huh?
- 44:42[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, you stopped at four.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: That was my favorite one.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_03]: Movies movie wise, right?
- 44:46[SPEAKER_03]: That was a favorite movie.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_03]: I played.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_03]: Blue.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_03]: I just can't watch children for that long.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_03]: Be, you know, okay.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_03]: That's fair.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's interesting.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_03]: But the books were excellent.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_03]: The books were I read every fucking book when it came out, but yeah, you got this coming out, man, favorite movie of the years so far.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_03]: Read me some of the top ones here and I'll tell you what it is.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so we got I've literally seen everything.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: I hated that.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: The Odyssey backwards.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: Project Hail Mary, what do you think of that?
- 45:18[SPEAKER_03]: I loved it.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_03]: I loved Project Hail Mary.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was a great film mount.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_03]: Ryan Gosling is fucking fantastic in that.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, on that flight back from Idaho over the weekend, well actually on the flight to Idaho and the flight back, everybody on the plane was either watching the Michael Jackson movie or Project Hail Mary.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_03]: God isn't much as I hate to say the Michael Jackson movie is good.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_03]: that's what I keep hearing.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_03]: It was, by the way, that's another one where I didn't walk in with a negative feeling.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_03]: I left and it was, you know, it's just, Michael that I like, the music starts playing and it got me, the dude was so good.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_03]: I think I'll be nominated for an Oscar, I really do.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_03]: What else came out of it?
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: The sheep detectives.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: Kids move out.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_01]: The invite.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_03]: I play Rockies on this list.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_03]: We just show that trailer cannot wait, cannot wait to see that movie that looks excellence.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_03]: That's great.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_03]: That's why I said,
- 46:14[SPEAKER_03]: If you want to go top movies of this, this, this half will do that, God.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_01]: So this movie, I haven't really heard much about, but I, but it's on a, a lot of people's less.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_01]: The invites.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_03]: The invite.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: I have not seen it though.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_03]: Is, have you seen it?
- 46:29[SPEAKER_03]: So this is one where like, my Hollywood friends are just like, yo, this is the best movie so far this year.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, come on, man, but I think Seth Rogan's in it.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_03]: And that's my,
- 46:40[SPEAKER_03]: detractor where if i'm going to go see a drama do i really want to see something with with Seth Rogan when comedians do dramas though it can be kind of a masterpiece sometimes it can be but it's it's really really difficult uh robin Williams and Adam Sandler uh good examples of comedians that can
- 46:58[SPEAKER_03]: Jim Carrin, sunshine, it's her own, like, yeah.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_03]: So this is what this is on my list though, for sure.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_03]: Only because so many people have hit me up about it.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_03]: And Edward Orton's been doing doing a lot of press.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_03]: What else we got there?
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: Evil Dead Burn.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: Don't do that.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_01]: Not an evil dead person.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_02]: Don't do that.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_02]: Huge evil dead fan.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking forward to that long.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_02]: Keep going.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: Keep going.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, diggers coming out.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: The new Spider-Man.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: It looks great, but it's Spider-Man.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_03]: Um, keep going.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_03]: We'll just close you.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, did it.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_03]: Toy Story five.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_03]: Toy Story, if all the toy stories are great, um, you're fine there, but you're also on the fifth one.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's not going to be your, your beat off movie.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_03]: And if it is, you should go get checked out or arrested.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_01]: She, you should be arrested.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, what else for Isabella?
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what that is.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Lee Kronen's the mummy.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no interest in seeing that either.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_03]: I know, um, uh, Brennan Frazier's getting in shape for it.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, if it's got Brennan Frazier, it's a original cast is coming back.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's cool.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_02]: That's cool.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_03]: That is going to be the next move by seeing what it is.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but, but dating back on the history of the show, uh, Jesse has always been, uh,
- 48:07[SPEAKER_03]: a Brandon had due to Fridge had and I know, yeah, yeah, I am because that sounds she likes, you know, do you have her while she wants me to be fat and we'll not whale fat, but like Brendan Fridge or fat, you know, and just kind of a little punchy.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like she doesn't want to jack dude or anything.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: You get skinny for this, baby.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_03]: uh... which one in the months so he said in an interview he was going to you know fucking get jacked up for and try to go back to what it what he what he used to be or whatever so yeah uh... but who knows uh... go back scroll back i wonder if there's a different money through by the way everybody's doing these goddamn things i like what's the difference between we crone in the other do
- 48:52[SPEAKER_02]: This one here looks like a straight-up horror movie.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_02]: I, the mummy series that I'm thinking of with Brandon Frazier definitely wasn't horror.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, no.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's like an action adventure, yes.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so I, this is Cronin, is that like Croninburg to like the body horror guy?
- 49:06[SPEAKER_03]: Who knows?
- 49:06[SPEAKER_03]: I know this, they are re-shooting them, they're, they're redoing the mummy with the original cast.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's coming out later.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_03]: And this is some little fucking knock-off.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_03]: What else?
- 49:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're saying a little chat.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_03]: It's not the same.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: Dom all four, you know, a Bollywood.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_01]: We got no, no, no, no, no.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_01]: Have you guys watched a Bollywood movie?
- 49:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I wrote one.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_03]: Did you actually my sold one to Hollywood or a Bollywood Excuse me?
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like you'd be great.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_03]: Do you know what it was?
- 49:32[SPEAKER_03]: It was a movie.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_03]: I met Jesse on 50 can't call girl love stories, and they made it into a Bollywood film.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_01]: What?
- 49:37[SPEAKER_01]: What?
- 49:38[SPEAKER_03]: And I got paid a lot of money.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_03]: Hell yeah, what I was saying when I was weird because that movie didn't that movie didn't do well, and I was pretty disappointed And because we we thought the film was great and it didn't do well.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_03]: It's it was the time of DVD to streaming And so everybody wanted to when just coming on Netflix one is it for free, you know, it's like it's not
- 50:04[SPEAKER_03]: And when a movie that you worked so hard on, I think I worked on that for like three years.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_03]: When it bombs a sucks dude, it fucking sucks.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_03]: So the saving grace was somebody from Bollywood, was watching it on a plane, and then they called and bought the ride so it and I was like,
- 50:24[SPEAKER_03]: Holy shit, thank you, thank you.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I went through the first meeting, because I thought it was bullshit.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, this can't be real.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_03]: It's moving, we didn't do well here, but it was a great film.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_03]: I really liked the film.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_03]: I got my soul.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_03]: And it was a thing's attorney.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_03]: He did the deal for me in America and them in Bollywood.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_03]: And so I worked with that dude for a month, which was wild, you know?
- 50:52[SPEAKER_03]: gangster, gangster of an agency, but fucking bizarre, man, bizarre.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_03]: And they told me about the dance sequences and all that shit.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_02]: I was going to say to them, did they want you to go back and film dance sequences?
- 51:05[SPEAKER_03]: I wasn't in it.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_03]: So they were taking the
- 51:10[SPEAKER_03]: Concepts and then just remaking it for India.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, we're a guy picks up same story.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_03]: I mean same exact story, but it's an awesome bottle of version.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah And have you watched it?
- 51:19[SPEAKER_03]: So I asked I asked for in the contract other than the money I asked for flights and and premier tickets which is pretty traditional You know, and they called back and they were like, do you know what's the first class ticket is to Indiana?
- 51:32[SPEAKER_03]: I was like no, I've never been
- 51:34[SPEAKER_03]: and they were like, and I don't think you're going to get to, okay?
- 51:37[SPEAKER_03]: So this hill isn't worth dying on, take the check and don't ask for that shit.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_03]: So we had to pull that out of the contract and everyone got to see it.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_03]: And then we got to see it.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, when I went to India like almost 10 years ago now, we went to a movie theater and watched a, a Bollywood movie and it was extremely cold in the theater.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_01]: I remember thinking that and also,
- 51:59[SPEAKER_01]: the the sound was overmodulated by a little bit.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: And so white years were killing me mine.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_01]: Time the entire time.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_01]: And there was a part in it, there's of course dance sequences, you know.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_01]: But there was one part where a kid, there was like a school shooting that happened in the movie, but they blurred out the gun because they couldn't shove the gun in the movie theater.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_01]: It was so crazy.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_03]: I got all those warnings and I said, I don't care.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_03]: I will never be there to see it.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_03]: So that paycheck you were talking about is what I'm really here for.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, we can go back to the movies.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, well, I've seen everything.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_03]: So supergirl, no.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Michael, the minis and the monsters you liked.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but that's a child's movie.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, supergirl, a hard stopper forever.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_01]: Don't know that is the drama.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen the drama?
- 52:48[SPEAKER_01]: It was good.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_01]: I liked it.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: I cut.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that as Netflix movie, I guess.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if it's going to be Washington's on there.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_01]: Master of the universe, that's he man.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_01]: I won't watch that.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't seen it.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_01]: Jared later.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_01]: I was already out of that.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, yeah, whenever I see him on the cast.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, tap out.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_02]: That's fair.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's fair.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_01]: Ready or not, too.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_01]: You're right, com.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_01]: She just called it.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_01]: Richard and not here.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: The whisper man.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if that is Netflix movie.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_01]: Mayday.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if that is.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_01]: Devil Worst product, too.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I heard it was great.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_03]: Actually, are they actually getting a half way there?
- 53:27[SPEAKER_03]: Did, yeah, and it made it a $1,000 a very successful women loved it.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_03]: When I loved the first one, I thought it was very good.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_01]: But it's 0.4.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was, that was kind of in between the move for me.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_03]: So I wasn't going to see a lot of movies.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, heading back and forth to Texas.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_01]: Do you impart three, of course?
- 53:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and they usually look, they usually save the, the big boys for the end of the year for the Oscar movies and shit.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_03]: Summers popcorn movies and fun and, and everything else.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_03]: Oppenheimer kind of broke that streak a couple years ago when it won everything.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, because they put that with, uh, head to head with Barbie if you guys remember correctly.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_03]: Remember that.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't remember.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: I did.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: Barbonheimer.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I did too.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_03]: I watched a lot both in the same day.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was fun.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I did not like Barbie loves Oppenheimer.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_01]: Barbie was kind of sterile for me.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_03]: Same.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_03]: Same.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, hope.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what that is.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, It's about a hope.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_01]: So those.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, oh, it's just gonna ask.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_03]: The whole movie is about her ass.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_03]: Let's very well done.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, from Markably Bright Creatures.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_01]: Sounds interesting.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_01]: Send help.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, send help was good, but it was just a fun, you know, popcorn movie.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_01]: I like that.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_01]: It was worth watching anything.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for sure.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_03]: If you're just looking for a fun, like, little thing.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_03]: It's, uh, it's got a cool premise about a chick who works in an office.
- 54:40[SPEAKER_03]: They're, uh, they're on a plane, and it's just herner boss that survives.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_03]: She knows how to do survival skills.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_03]: He does.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_03]: Rachel McCaddo.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I've been wanting to see that.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_03]: I like to.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_03]: I like to.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_03]: I like to.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_03]: But these are you're not getting typically your Oscar movies and shit at the beginning of the year.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_03]: But next weekend, we'll kind of give you all you need to know.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_03]: And then all just kind of break down here what the new standards are to win an Oscar and tell me that the Odyssey doesn't fit this to a T. So standard A is on screen representation that's just getting nominated for best picture.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_03]: Focus is on underrepresented groups in lead or significant supporting roles on
- 55:23[SPEAKER_03]: So you got to have a black gay, if I can, you know, the tanks are whatever and the lead and yeah, you have all of that, you get all that across the board and this standard B creative leadership and project team focuses on unrepresented groups and department heads and broader crew positions.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_03]: So that means your art department, it's got to be a lesbian or something.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_03]: or disabled or whatever amount.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_03]: Now that would have been great.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_03]: Let's say your art department was forced to use wheelchairs all through the sand and the Odyssey.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_03]: That would have been awesome to see those guys put that shit together.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_03]: Just a bunch of capbers do out there wheel into the sand trying to figure out life do.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_03]: God that would have been awesome.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_03]: Standard C requires the production or distribution company to offer paid apprenticeships and internships and training opportunities
- 56:17[SPEAKER_03]: for underrepresented people, you just can't be white, guys, all right.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_03]: And so by that, they mean what, women, racial or ethnic groups, LGBTQ people with cognitive or physical disabilities, or who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_03]: This is fucking insane, guys.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_03]: And this is, by the way, they had one of these in every single category.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_03]: So,
- 56:45[SPEAKER_03]: That's it.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_03]: He wants to get nominated for an Oscar and he probably will probably will.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen Begonia?
- 56:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody's crazy.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_01]: I liked Begonia.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: Begonia was good.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_03]: I liked Begonia.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_03]: That was last year with Emma Stone.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_03]: She was nominated for an Oscar.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_03]: But if this is what we're doing here and this was the movie to kick this off,
- 57:09[SPEAKER_02]: There would be your conspiracy, I guess.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I noticed that there's one requirement on the list that's kind of suspiciously absent, and that is it's a good movie.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yep, no requirement for it to be good.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_03]: No, and I think with Chris Ranoan in particular, because he swept all the awards for Oppenheimer and rightfully sells, a great movie.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_03]: This, under these current guidelines, you wouldn't have been nominated for anything.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm looking at a because that was all lights.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_01]: The whole cast is white.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_01]: So it looks like This started six years ago.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it did.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's 2022.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_03]: So it started.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's when it got voted in.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_03]: However It didn't kick in until 2025 So beginning in 2024.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 57:49[SPEAKER_01]: 96.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_03]: So then you're heading into the 25 Oscars and now 26 with this and I think the one what was best picture last year was one battle after another That fit all those categories so yeah
- 58:01[SPEAKER_03]: You had a little tincture as a lead, you had a black chick, you had all the things multiple.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_03]: I, all that across the board.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I, I, I, I, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't notice, like, I, I didn't, that wasn't walking in thinking about that, where I was walking in thinking about it with this.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it says a Nora one.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Nora, that's wrong.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, my God dude, that was the worst fucking thing.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_03]: That was a musical.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, remember about the plans?
- 58:23[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my God.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_01]: No, it wasn't a, no.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it wasn't about the trans people.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't a stripper.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we now speak to something.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the one that I'm doing is something else is always old on it.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was about.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, that was crazy.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_01]: The drug dealer turns into a chance.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: I remember that, but in Nora is about a stripper.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's something different.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_03]: Look it up.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's the one with the drug dealer turns into a chance.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I know you're thinking.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no, it's it's not let's say.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_01]: Think you're thinking of that Netflix movie with the
- 58:53[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, okay.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_03]: And where was the the the the hooker?
- 58:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be just I'm trying to think if that movie would have met the standard.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like you wouldn't have.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like that movie is all white people.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm more of it.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go back.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_02]: Lead actress looks like a, which is Russian.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I don't know how you classify them.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know how you classify.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_03]: But either way, I hope this doesn't change every film to go into this direction.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_03]: it is polarizing like you you sit there and you think about it the entire time when I don't I I go to movies to not think for like two hours.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_03]: I don't take my phone I don't take anything I just want to relax have a good time and not really think about all this shit.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_03]: Instead of ever seeing your waitness is like is Elliot Bage going to come back to life you know and then
- 59:44[SPEAKER_02]: any does.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think stories in general used to be more focused because every story told has a message to it, whether you really want it to or not.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_02]: The messages and a lot of stories used to be actual useful life lessons that endured through generations, but the messages that people are trying to push across nowadays are just trying to spoon feed people their ideology.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_03]: You can change it by doing what the YouTubers did.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you can do whatever you want.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_03]: Now, in my opinion, and I think with the use of AI as it gets better and better, Netflix on Friday was forced to stay down there quarterly reports.
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_03]: I think 800 of their films and TV shows had AI in it, and people were blown away.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_03]: They were like, whoa, shits.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_03]: And they, that's always about Ben Affleck's AI company.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_03]: Four, what was it?
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_03]: 800, no, 587 million dollars.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_01]: road.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_01]: It makes you wonder if it's worth it.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_01]: What could his what could that afflix AI start up possibly have?
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's worth $587 million.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_03]: Or if they want him to be the face of it to take the heat.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_03]: Because, you know, it's going to cost a lot of jobs.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's a good point.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_03]: By the way, you know who else, who just sold their AI company, the guy who was railed against it for fucking 10 years, Martin Scorsese, typed that in and see how much he made off of his company.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_03]: There was, you know, cinema, cinema, I gotta go to the theaters, mama.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_02]: And he's showing that the one where you can like reframe entire scenes, right?
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_02]: You're completely taking the crew out of the corrects.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not seeing that he sold it, yeah, I'm sure that's coming.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it did, he sold it.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_03]: So, and I believe he's on the board too.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_03]: So like,
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and then the latest was Doug Lyman who directed, you know, the born identities and swingers and all that stuff.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_03]: He just finished a 70 million all AI movie.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_03]: So it's all real actors.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_03]: They're in this thing called the gray box and I think it's like a three 400 square foot room.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_03]: There's dots everywhere and and then the scenery is what the 70 million dollars is on to pay for the AI.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_03]: But there's a rumor rhyme that seems like they're just trying to sell that company and they
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_03]: Ponyed up the money for Doug Lime and it do it to be the first to do it pull up that gray box I just want to see what that looks like on the inside.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_03]: Type in gray box.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_03]: This is the website for it though.
- 1:02:19[SPEAKER_03]: This is it right here.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so you stand there in this box and then what it's all kind of green screen all the way around you or.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_01]: So it looks like it's the 3D like software aspect that's showing it's not interesting.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_03]: So it kind of like video games.
- 1:02:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_01]: You look like you can just you just make a basic structure.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_01]: And then, okay, yeah, well, here's the thing.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_01]: A cozy medieval village forest.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_01]: And then it makes the it just does it for you.
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_01]: builds it out and then AI video.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_03]: We'll go on top of that.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_03]: Got it.
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but I'm I'm I'm curious to see that too.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_03]: Because that will also change filmmaking because I don't think anybody's going to care about standards anymore.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to throw that out the window and say hey.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to put 50 different genders in this god damn thing to compete for an Oscar.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_03]: I just want to beat you and I was talking to Jared two nights ago, he had a eye this little thing for two wheels alone and this has been on going joke on the show forever and
- 1:03:23[SPEAKER_03]: And I go, man, it's getting close.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_03]: You're not that far off.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you're still not great, but you can tell that it will be in all that shit.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, there will be ways out of this.
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_03]: If you're out there in your film maker, and you're like, I don't wanna put fucking all this bullshit in a movie, there will easily be ways out of this in the future.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_03]: We'll keep an eye on this as it goes.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_03]: I did see a lot of people, though, that said I love the film, like listeners.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's been people in the chat today saying that they really enjoyed it.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and by the way, there's nothing wrong with that.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_03]: Like art is subjective.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_03]: Movies are subjective, comedy subjective, podcasts, all of it, and it's totally fine, just because I didn't like it.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't mean somebody else can't.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's a leadist, too, where you're saying it to people, hey, dude.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_03]: There's a book of bullshit movie sucks.
- 1:04:18[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, no, it's you can like whatever film you want.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just saying my personal experience.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_03]: Now what I was surprised to see is two guys on the right, like Shapiro, what did he say?
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_03]: I saw the headline, but I didn't hear the clip.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, do you volume on that?
- 1:04:39[SPEAKER_03]: Stand by.
- 1:04:39[SPEAKER_03]: We'll figure out the problem.
- 1:04:42[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, because he went on fucking, I think it was live and talked about how great it was.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, and then same with the Rubin, Rubin did as well, said it was a master piece.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_03]: I think both of them said master piece.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_02]: So, I don't know.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, if you're out there, make, make up your own mind.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_03]: Let's see if anybody in the chat has seen it there.
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, Greg Lehmont saying so that, hey, that looks like shit.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's not Minecraft.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_03]: So they're putting the movie over those Minecraft images there.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_03]: So that's not the film itself.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_03]: That's just the outline.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_01]: So it works.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_01]: And it'll win that.
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_01]: And they make it look like this and then use AI and make it look like that.
- 1:05:26[SPEAKER_03]: Potentially.
- 1:05:27[SPEAKER_03]: And that's, by the way, they're just using an example.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_03]: That's not what the film is.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_03]: We have nobody hasn't had to do what the film is.
- 1:05:33[SPEAKER_03]: but you're just kind of mapping it on and post there.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_03]: But I have seen it pop up in movies here and there.
- 1:05:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think you can make that.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_03]: There you go.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_03]: Well, let's see what he has to say here.
- 1:05:43[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't take me out of the film that there's a multi-racial cast.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to make the case, everybody needs to be Greek to be authentic, I think you can make that case.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to make the case, everybody has to be white.
- 1:05:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that is a lesser case because white people in Greek are not quite the same thing.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't take me out of the film.
- 1:05:59[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_02]: Interesting.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's a surprising take for him, but, uh, yeah, I mean, honestly, overall, I, this is one of the, one of the first movies in a long time where I feel like I need to go.
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_03]: Just to understand, like, I didn't want to just keep talking about something that I didn't know about.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_03]: I'll go and do it.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_03]: I'll go and do the thing.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_02]: So at least I can give you an informed opinion on it.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this really could just be more of Christopher Nolan's genius where you put it together this way specifically to drive people now from all sides to go and say, I have no idea to do it.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_03]: I would love to have that conversation, but when you cancel a movie for critics, that's never happened from one of his movies before.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_03]: He's never done that.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_03]: Or he didn't want critics seeing it reviewing it.
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_01]: Now I did think that I think when people were talking about there was just the review and bar go, which is normal, I think.
- 1:06:54[SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean?
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like if it was for people who were going to the movie early, like they weren't allowed to like,
- 1:07:01[SPEAKER_03]: it was for spoiler reasons I think like it's like I think review and bar guys are pretty normal like that no so they wanted uh so typical though invite critics a week or two before to kind of rate movie the movie so you can get out there and then you press for the movie uh but he shut it off for critics so the people that were actual film critics had to go to the premiere or anything else shit you might buddy who's in the goddamn movie didn't see it until the premiere
- 1:07:26[SPEAKER_03]: tell so it wasn't a it wasn't a review embargo like what you were talking about they were were just right canceling and we moan until they they turned off the the live action version of the one and it said we're not doing reviews and they put that they knew was a that bond lots a lot of money for Disney so clearly there was something there about it came out
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you didn't even know that it came out.
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_03]: You know, two weeks ago.
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't pay attention.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Lou, if he's anyway, it's two weeks ago.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_01]: So I do not care about those live action remakes at all.
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_03]: I don't either.
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_03]: I don't either.
- 1:08:02[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, that's the first one.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_03]: Well, they had a couple of them on, but.
- 1:08:06[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, that's just, I mean, this is a gigantic head scratcher to me.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_03]: I would love for there to, by the way, nothing would make me happier than to come out with some crazy story that something was bought out or something, because I cannot wrap my mind around this one.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think I've ever been this wrong about a movie.
- 1:08:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I was wrong.
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_03]: I said, this is going to bomb.
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_03]: I was way off, and even after watching it, I would tell you if I thought it was great.
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, holy shit, I just missed the boat on this one.
- 1:08:40[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 1:08:41[SPEAKER_03]: No, so I can't figure it out and that's for me personally, you know, that's one of my biggest pet peace.
- 1:08:46[SPEAKER_03]: If I can't figure something out, I will try to stay up late and go down rabbit holes and all the other shit.
- 1:08:54[SPEAKER_03]: This one I cannot wrap my mind around, I really can't.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_03]: And again, the choices, like all these guys are such great actors, you could have had them just do a million different things, but
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, when it comes to Chris Nolan movies, I kind of expect that he's going to have a million a-list actors, and then he's going to utilize them very, very little, you know what I mean?
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_01]: Because he did that with, uh, oftentimes or two, right?
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:09:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:09:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's just his thing.
- 1:09:23[SPEAKER_03]: It is.
- 1:09:24[SPEAKER_03]: They pop up for like two seconds or whatever.
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_03]: I'm, again, I'm not a fan of that, but, uh, they were all good at least.
- 1:09:31[SPEAKER_03]: Where is this one, got a guy showing up doing a New York accent and Matt Damon's doing mid-west?
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_02]: You're like, okay, what part of America we did from here?
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_03]: What are we doing here?
- 1:09:45[SPEAKER_03]: I hope it's all just a fucking huge joke and a fuck you at the end of the day.
- 1:09:49[SPEAKER_03]: I really do, and I appreciate you tuning in and trying to figure this out with me today.
- 1:09:54[SPEAKER_03]: But also, I would have figured with how much money this movie made that there had been more people
- 1:10:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think I've only seen two or three people in the chat that said they watched it.
- 1:10:07[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we don't really have the audience of people that would probably go out and watch that.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's a good point.
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_03]: But it's a big movie.
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_03]: It's a big summer movie that made a good Jillian dollars.
- 1:10:17[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I haven't seen it, but I'm probably going to see this weekend, you know?
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_03]: But why are you guys going to see it?
- 1:10:22[SPEAKER_03]: Because of the controversy because of Christopher Nolan.
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_02]: Well, overall.
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was going to watch it just because it's a Christopher Nolan movie, but I was going to wait until it comes out on streaming.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_02]: Because I'm not a big fan of going to theaters.
- 1:10:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'll go see this one on the theater just
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_03]: And another thing that was odd, I don't know if anybody else had this, but the sound was off.
- 1:10:43[SPEAKER_03]: That was a personal one thing, too.
- 1:10:45[SPEAKER_03]: It was really loud for no reason.
- 1:10:48[SPEAKER_01]: It was too quiet.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, no.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_03]: So for a certain scene, and I know what he's doing.
- 1:10:53[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I know what he's doing.
- 1:10:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm an opera and all that other shit.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_03]: And I like that.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_03]: But for this one, it was loud as shit and the chairs were shaking.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_03]: And you were like, okay, but this,
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_03]: It should be shaking for like a big explosion or a bigger scene, not this.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_03]: Cat, there was just some million things that could not figure out about this fucking movie.
- 1:11:13[SPEAKER_03]: I really couldn't, and maybe that is the whole conundrum of this, where you have so many people that love it, and hate it, and everybody's going to see it, just to figure out the answer of what it is.
- 1:11:25[SPEAKER_03]: And I would love to tell you, there's a fucking twist at the end,
- 1:11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, you're telling me that the Odyssey doesn't have a twist.
- 1:11:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, right.
- 1:11:37[SPEAKER_03]: The book.
- 1:11:38[SPEAKER_03]: Um, somebody else online, I said the story about we don't walk it out to two and a half hours and whatever it was.
- 1:11:43[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, and they were like, oh, well, you didn't say to see it and I go, yeah, but I've read the book.
- 1:11:48[SPEAKER_03]: I like we all know the ending of it unless he changed it, you know?
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Ivan in the chat, uh, he's the one that's been talking about, like in the movie so much and recommending that we go see it, uh, he's saying that the last hour is the best part of the movie.
- 1:11:59[SPEAKER_02]: So that essentially the hour that you missed would,
- 1:12:02[SPEAKER_02]: would be the part that there was a lot of people that said that to you.
- 1:12:06[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he could have pulled like once upon a time in Hollywood, you know, and changed the ending, right?
- 1:12:12[SPEAKER_01]: From, yeah.
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_03]: But let's let's let's say that let's say that is the case, right?
- 1:12:16[SPEAKER_03]: That the last hour was was amazing to ask people to sit through two hours.
- 1:12:22[SPEAKER_03]: of that was is a lot because it was slow as shit.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_03]: Um, there was a couple cool battle scenes like I said, the Cyclops shit was dope.
- 1:12:32[SPEAKER_03]: Um, that was a cool scene.
- 1:12:33[SPEAKER_03]: And then, uh, the Trojan horse to an extent, if you could wrap your mind around that it was iron.
- 1:12:38[SPEAKER_03]: I just was like, how do you drag that?
- 1:12:40[SPEAKER_03]: You know, they show you, but I'm like, eh, it's pretty fucking heavy dude.
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, bronze is not like, no, no.
- 1:12:47[SPEAKER_02]: And you're pushing it from the ocean all the way in inland.
- 1:12:53[SPEAKER_03]: That would take forever.
- 1:12:55[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, leave the comments.
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_03]: I'm fucking dying to know what you guys think.
- 1:12:59[SPEAKER_03]: Dying to fucking know and dying to have this answer here.
- 1:13:03[SPEAKER_03]: Now, Jesse didn't come with me.
- 1:13:04[SPEAKER_03]: So luckily, shit.
- 1:13:07[SPEAKER_03]: Should take our child to urgent care for the year A, and she didn't have to deal with this bullshit today, you know?
- 1:13:13[SPEAKER_03]: She was probably like, bro, I don't want any fucking part of this.
- 1:13:16[SPEAKER_03]: But also, she didn't know desire to see it.
- 1:13:18[SPEAKER_03]: really none.
- 1:13:20[SPEAKER_03]: None.
- 1:13:21[SPEAKER_03]: And she loves films.
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_03]: There's a, oh, there's another one I'm looking forward to.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_03]: The Anthony Bourdain one that's coming out.
- 1:13:26[SPEAKER_03]: That looks good too.
- 1:13:27[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, with a young Bourdain.
- 1:13:30[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but if you want my prediction, just because it's Hollywood to end the show, I think it gets nominated for a record amount of Oscars, because it followed the rules that they
- 1:13:46[SPEAKER_03]: It's we included everyone and this is what this is all about.
- 1:13:49[SPEAKER_02]: And by the way, that was like the messaging of the movie, too.
- 1:13:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's no chance that it doesn't just sweep the Oscars.
- 1:13:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure with the people that are choosing the movies for the Oscars.
- 1:13:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, this is right up there.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_03]: 100% 100%.
- 1:14:01[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I think this probably wins all the awards.
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_03]: A really do.
- 1:14:05[SPEAKER_03]: Because it does check all the boxes that they ask you to check.
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_03]: And Hollywood's going to say, hey, man, we told you.
- 1:14:12[SPEAKER_03]: We fucking told you, man, inclusion is the way.
- 1:14:16[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:14:17[SPEAKER_02]: Now, what do you think the chances are that this wins, that this is wins the record amount of numbers for any of the record amount of rewards or awards for a Christopher Nolan.
- 1:14:26[SPEAKER_03]: I will say this now.
- 1:14:29[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if Calcy's got it up or somebody like that.
- 1:14:33[SPEAKER_03]: Be too early for my bookie, I think, but if I was gambling today,
- 1:14:38[SPEAKER_03]: I would say it'll set the record for most nominations in the history of the Oscars.
- 1:14:44[SPEAKER_03]: Agreed.
- 1:14:45[SPEAKER_03]: Because they wanted to.
- 1:14:48[SPEAKER_03]: Um, not because it's a great film, but because they want it to, and this will prove everything that they've said about what they do, that, uh, hey, you can have all this diversity and inclusion and represent people's voices and blah, blah, blah, and it can make a shit ton of money because the money part is the one you can't argue about, unfortunately.
- 1:15:13[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know where that would come from.
- 1:15:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so he won best director for Oppenheimer and best picture for Oppenheimer and that's all he's won he was nominated for other stuff, but that's all for wins that's madness really because I look he is fucking the greatest like, you know, despite this movie.
- 1:15:35[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder if this gets like a Tarantino as you stuff, where he goes to the theater and he says, fuck yeah, I wanna make another movie again, or I didn't like it, I wanna make a better movie than him.
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_03]: I'm tired of people talking about Chris Fernone.
- 1:15:48[SPEAKER_03]: I wonder if it's like sports, where like Kobe wanted to be Jordan or, you know, like I wonder how that works out.
- 1:15:55[SPEAKER_03]: So all of the cows he's got it?
- 1:15:57[SPEAKER_03]: Ha ha.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_03]: I fucking knew it dude.
- 1:16:00[SPEAKER_03]: 69% for Chris Fernone winning.
- 1:16:07[SPEAKER_03]: And then diggers number two, what about best picture?
- 1:16:13[SPEAKER_03]: So that's best director, which I, yes, I think they're gonna give them all the things, the foreshore, all the things.
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_03]: And the hilarious part about it with all the inclusion in this movie and diversity and LGBT, Q, trans, whatever, the fuck.
- 1:16:28[SPEAKER_03]: It'll still be a white man at the end of the day who wins all the alerts.
- 1:16:32[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I ought to see, yes, they got him at 50% on calcium, went on the whole fucking thing.
- 1:16:38[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, Doompar 3 and Digger have not come out yet, so it's kind of not fair.
- 1:16:43[SPEAKER_03]: I, if they didn't give it to Doom for the first one, it was, it's not getting anything.
- 1:16:48[SPEAKER_01]: The first one was the worst one of the two hours right now, and I'm sure a three is gonna be fucking sick, too.
- 1:16:54[SPEAKER_03]: You think so?
- 1:16:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:16:55[SPEAKER_03]: I like to be a huge fan of both.
- 1:16:57[SPEAKER_03]: So is I, and I like to, I like to better than one.
- 1:17:00[SPEAKER_03]: I'll see you in the next year.
- 1:17:02[SPEAKER_03]: It is the better movie.
- 1:17:03[SPEAKER_03]: Now that I know it's only three, then I'll go see the third one.
- 1:17:06[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't want to get caught in something like five, six deep, Rome.
- 1:17:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, fair.
- 1:17:10[SPEAKER_03]: And I love Fast and Furious guys, okay?
- 1:17:13[SPEAKER_03]: Family, but I've only seen like three or four of those.
- 1:17:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've never really got into those ones either.
- 1:17:19[SPEAKER_03]: I checked out when Vin Diesel left.
- 1:17:22[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was the second one.
- 1:17:23[SPEAKER_03]: He wanted $30 million.
- 1:17:24[SPEAKER_03]: Wait, he was only in the first two.
- 1:17:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, then they brought the internet bringing it back because the second one bombed without him.
- 1:17:31[SPEAKER_03]: And they were like, shit, we're sorry.
- 1:17:33[SPEAKER_03]: What do you want?
- 1:17:33[SPEAKER_03]: He goes, I want 30% of the movie on the back end.
- 1:17:37[SPEAKER_03]: I want 30 million of movie.
- 1:17:39[SPEAKER_03]: And they were like, all right, we'll do it.
- 1:17:40[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see how this does and it exploded.
- 1:17:43[SPEAKER_03]: And I think he's worth half a billion dollars, no.
- 1:17:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, he blew most of it though on a video game.
- 1:17:51[SPEAKER_02]: He's a nerd in real life.
- 1:17:53[SPEAKER_02]: I know he's a big world of warcraft fan and he's a Dungeons and Dragons fan, but you know what game he was he spending on all his money on like world of warcraft?
- 1:18:01[SPEAKER_02]: I put it in there.
- 1:18:02[SPEAKER_03]: It was an original game.
- 1:18:05[SPEAKER_03]: because you can make a shit ton of money, but you can also go bankrupt.
- 1:18:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's an advent of World Warcraft.
- 1:18:11[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, he's, which he would play with Paul Walker.
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, all right, P. Do.
- 1:18:16[SPEAKER_01]: Right, P. Yeah.
- 1:18:17[SPEAKER_01]: He plays Dungeoners and Dragons.
- 1:18:19[SPEAKER_02]: But just type in.
- 1:18:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's taken studios.
- 1:18:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 1:18:23[SPEAKER_01]: games developer owned by one race for us.
- 1:18:25[SPEAKER_01]: It was primarily on on games featuring actor.
- 1:18:28[SPEAKER_01]: They only make games with Vin Diesel.
- 1:18:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:18:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, dude.
- 1:18:32[SPEAKER_01]: The Chronicles of Riddick is his looks like.
- 1:18:35[SPEAKER_01]: OK.
- 1:18:36[SPEAKER_02]: I played that.
- 1:18:37[SPEAKER_02]: Vin Diesel is also going to be a main character in a sequel to a game called Arc that I'm a big fan of.
- 1:18:43[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be an arc too.
- 1:18:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm really, really looking forward to that if they ever finish it.
- 1:18:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's our developer for like 10 fucking years survival.
- 1:18:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:18:53[SPEAKER_03]: All right, yeah, then these will do, family, family.
- 1:18:57[SPEAKER_03]: Speaking of family, we appreciate you guys tuning in.
- 1:19:00[SPEAKER_03]: We even gained a subscriber here on YouTube in two years.
- 1:19:03[SPEAKER_03]: And that's been fun.
- 1:19:06[SPEAKER_03]: much shadow van fucking thing ever the only reason we do it to fleece for clips and shit it makes uh... makes the editors have a easier job we would just put it up with Spotify a video deals with Spotify so go over there and support hit that five star over there on Spotify uh... and then uh... iTunes you gotta leave a review
- 1:19:27[SPEAKER_03]: And that's not just for this show, it's for all of them, including crime corner.
- 1:19:31[SPEAKER_03]: So crime corner is fucking growing massively, do, but you guys need reviews.
- 1:19:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 1:19:35[SPEAKER_03]: So that's the only thing I hear from advertisers, one of the like, I don't understand, it shows great.
- 1:19:39[SPEAKER_03]: What about the reviews?
