Transcript
- 0:00Constance Lavonice: One way to cultivate resilience is to know who we are in Christ.
- 0:08Constance Lavonice: Jesus tells us in John 10 10 that we have a spiritual adversary that comes to kill, steal, and destroy.
- 0:19Constance Lavonice: However, Jesus has come to give us life and to give us life more abundantly.
- 0:28Constance Lavonice: And because of Jesus, we don't have to adopt a victim or passive mindset when we encounter spiritual battles or spiritual schemes designed to reduce our effectiveness and or destroy us.
- 0:49Constance Lavonice: Welcome to Whole Heart Conversations.
- 0:52Constance Lavonice: This is a podcast for women that provides biblical encouragement to foster whole heart, spirit, soul, and body resilience.
- 1:06Constance Lavonice: I am your host, Constance Lavonice.
- 1:10Constance Lavonice: As Christians, we refer to this spiritual adversary as Satan or the devil.
- 1:19Constance Lavonice: In 2 Corinthians chapter 4, verse 4, the apostle Paul describes Satan as the God of this world.
- 1:32Constance Lavonice: The book of John refers to Satan as the ruler of this world.
- 1:39Constance Lavonice: Paul also described him in Ephesians chapter 2, verse 2, as the devil, the commander of the powers in the unseen world.
- 1:56Constance Lavonice: And John in the book of Revelation describes him as the ancient serpent called the devil or Satan.
- 2:09Constance Lavonice: Ephesians chapter 6, verses 10 and 11 tells us to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
- 2:21Constance Lavonice: Put on the full armor of God so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
- 2:31Constance Lavonice: A scheme is a plan of action, a strategy to hinder, defeat, or destroy.
- 2:44Constance Lavonice: What's the strategy?
- 2:47Constance Lavonice: To kill, steal, and destroy, according to Jesus.
- 2:53Constance Lavonice: So that's the first thing we have to be aware of.
- 2:58Constance Lavonice: The second is our identity and who we are in Christ.
- 3:06Constance Lavonice: Even though the devil comes to kill, steal, and destroy, literally, we don't have to be anxious or afraid because we already have the victory and is based on who we are in Christ.
- 3:28Constance Lavonice: As a Christian, everything that Christ has, we have.
- 3:36Constance Lavonice: Through his Holy Spirit that resides in us.
- 3:42Constance Lavonice: This is the number one fact to remember as we journey through life.
- 3:51Constance Lavonice: Satan has no power except the power that we give to him.
- 3:58Constance Lavonice: And that happens when we're not aware of the schemes that are happening in the spiritual realm, and we're not exercising the authority of our identity.
- 4:14Constance Lavonice: The Bible tells us to submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- 4:24Constance Lavonice: James 4, 7.
- 4:27Constance Lavonice: How do we resist the schemes of the devil?
- 4:32Constance Lavonice: Through knowing our identity.
- 4:37Constance Lavonice: And I love the book of Ephesians, chapter one, specifically verses three through seven.
- 4:50Constance Lavonice: It tells us our position, authority, and identity in Christ.
- 4:59Constance Lavonice: Let me recall what it says.
- 5:02Constance Lavonice: First, we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.
- 5:11Constance Lavonice: We already have what God has.
- 5:15Constance Lavonice: It's ours to discover.
- 5:18Constance Lavonice: We are chosen before the foundation of the world.
- 5:26Constance Lavonice: We are holy and blameless before Him.
- 5:31Constance Lavonice: God no longer sees our sin and our shortcomings, but He now sees us through Christ.
- 5:41Constance Lavonice: We were predestined to adoption as his daughters.
- 5:49Constance Lavonice: That means that we are joint heirs with Christ.
- 5:54Constance Lavonice: We have been redeemed through the blood of Jesus Christ.
- 6:01Constance Lavonice: We are forgiven of all our sins through the blood of Jesus Christ, past, present, and future.
- 6:16Constance Lavonice: God loves us.
- 6:19Constance Lavonice: He loves us with an everlasting love.
- 6:23Constance Lavonice: We are favored.
- 6:26Constance Lavonice: He gives us favor with others and himself.
- 6:34Constance Lavonice: And we are lavished in his grace, his unmerited favor.
- 6:43Constance Lavonice: Allow God's word to sink into your heart and align your identity with who God says you are, because resilience is knowing your identity in Christ.
- 7:03Constance Lavonice: And if this message resonated with you, please subscribe and share with a friend so that we can encourage more women.
- 7:14Constance Lavonice: And go back and meditate on Ephesians chapter 1, verses 3 through 7, and text the show and let me know how God spoke to your heart.
