- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Dan.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Good morning, Kayleigh.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: It's a Friday.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: We don't usually record on Fridays.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: That's how on top of it.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Like a realtor, what?
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Um Monday?
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:32SPEAKER_04: Well, just days don't exist generally.
- 0:34SPEAKER_04: Like every day is Groundhog's Day.
- 0:36SPEAKER_04: We work every day.
- 0:37SPEAKER_04: That's it.
- 0:38SPEAKER_04: That's it.
- 0:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Every day, one after the other.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Um have you been up to anything cool?
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Have you been getting out of the house, doing anything fun?
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: You had a date night last night.
- 0:47SPEAKER_04: We did have a date night last night.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Social media official.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: I saw that.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: I did stop it.
- 0:50SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 0:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, that was um a long time coming.
- 0:53SPEAKER_04: We planned that like months ago, and it was hard because Rick has been sick, but he finally broke his fever today.
- 0:58SPEAKER_04: So what was it?
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Was it an ear infection?
- 1:01SPEAKER_04: I don't think so.
- 1:02SPEAKER_04: I think I don't know.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: It was like we got that bug that was going around getting around.
- 1:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:06SPEAKER_04: To be fair, he was like full Zamboni looking slides at Bishop.
- 1:11SPEAKER_04: So this isn't exactly a surprise, but the next day he woke up, high fever, vomiting, like it just was not good.
- 1:18SPEAKER_04: And then we're finally out of the immune system got a nice little jolt.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: He's building it.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: I'm sure he's pretty, pretty bulletproof, at least in the short term for now.
- 1:30SPEAKER_04: So yeah, there was that moment when he's like licking this slide, and I'm like that's probably not.
- 1:35SPEAKER_04: This is a boy.
- 1:36SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:36SPEAKER_04: Like there's you know, no one else, and then boys, and they're just like anyway.
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: How are you?
- 1:41SPEAKER_04: How's life?
- 1:41SPEAKER_04: How's sports?
- 1:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the uh activity calendar.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Rockland girls won the won their league again last night.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Uh that's the fourth fourth consecutive year.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: We shared the league title with Folsom.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Um, I feel like a lot of people don't admit that.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: I'm like, you know what?
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: We tied.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: We split with them, we tied we shared the league with them.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the tiebreaker rules get a little weird and then they run out of steam and then you end up with a tie.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: So is what it is.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Um been busy.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: I think I've had uh I don't think I've had a weekend without sports or work for like I think ten weeks now.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: So when you talk about the days kind of bleeding into one another, it's kind of yeah.
- 2:18SPEAKER_04: Like there is I don't even know why I keep track of days anymore.
- 2:21SPEAKER_04: I just I go to sleep and I wake up.
- 2:23SPEAKER_04: That's all I need to know.
- 2:24unknown: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Let my calendar decide let my calendar determine the rest.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: So uh yes, just be just being diligent to my calendar.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: I love that where I'm at in life.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: So yeah, seriously.
- 2:35SPEAKER_04: I wake up, I look, and I'm like, what's on the schedule today?
- 2:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's it.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: That's how I live.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm super excited for our guest today.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Me too.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Because she's got a really, really cool niche and she does.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Um and her energy is amazing already, just sitting here kind of hanging out.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Um, so why don't you why don't you introduce uh introduce her?
- 2:54SPEAKER_04: Yes, well, I'm very excited to have Miss Joellen Brooks on our podcast today.
- 2:59SPEAKER_04: Um, I have the pleasure of being a colleague and a teammate to her, but she uh apart from the energy, which you've noticed, she's very spunky and perky all of the time.
- 3:09SPEAKER_04: She's got some incredible catchphrases we're going to dive into, but she also generates her business in a really unique way.
- 3:15SPEAKER_04: So I can't wait to dive into that and uh let's play her in, Dan.
- 3:18unknown: Let's do it.
- 3:21SPEAKER_05: If you want to run away with me, I know a galaxy and I can see you go alright.
- 3:26SPEAKER_05: I had a premonition that we fell into a rhythm with the music don't fall like.
- 3:31SPEAKER_05: Glitter in the sky, glitter in my eye, finish the way.
- 3:35SPEAKER_04: I think we need a b-roll of just like our dances during the room.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: It's probably coming.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: It's probably coming.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: We'll talk to our social media coordinator on that.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Uh wellin.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Welcome.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: Thank you very much.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: We've been out dancing before, actually, in San Francisco.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: We had fun.
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: That is true.
- 4:02SPEAKER_03: We did caviar dancing.
- 4:04SPEAKER_03: I mean, it was a night.
- 4:05SPEAKER_03: It was a night.
- 4:06SPEAKER_04: Sounds like it was a great night.
- 4:07SPEAKER_04: For sure.
- 4:07SPEAKER_04: Ended with DoorDash in my bed and the hotel room.
- 4:10SPEAKER_04: It's like how I prefer it to end the night, honestly.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: It was a good four seasons.
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: I mean, what what could you have wrong?
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, hopefully the DoorDash was like just the greasiest, nastiest.
- 4:21SPEAKER_04: It was the nastiest, like no, it was a smash burger.
- 4:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: The only way to do it.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Like, I want like the grimy.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Not that I want the grimy guy delivering your DoorDash order, but I want him walking into the four seasons to deliver food.
- 4:34SPEAKER_04: There's like a drop-off location.
- 4:36SPEAKER_04: So, you know, there's they're saying hi to each other on the way out.
- 4:39SPEAKER_04: So tell us about Dua Lipa.
- 4:41SPEAKER_04: Levitating.
- 4:42SPEAKER_04: Levitating.
- 4:42SPEAKER_04: Thank you, Dan.
- 4:43SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's just the energy for this morning, you know, today and levitate, levitating, all the things, rise above.
- 4:51SPEAKER_04: And I love it.
- 4:53SPEAKER_04: Well, we you had all of us dancing like right away.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Which is not my strong suit either.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: And I have not had any cocktails this morning.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Usually I don't dance without cocktails.
- 5:03SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 5:03SPEAKER_04: Look at you.
- 5:04SPEAKER_04: Turning a new leaf, Dan.
- 5:06SPEAKER_04: Thank God.
- 5:07SPEAKER_04: So okay, welcome.
- 5:09SPEAKER_04: Tell us a little bit.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: So you're not from Sacramento originally.
- 5:12SPEAKER_03: Correct.
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: When did you relocate up here?
- 5:15SPEAKER_03: Um in 2022.
- 5:16SPEAKER_04: And you're from uh the Bay Area.
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: Bay area.
- 5:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, East Bay.
- 5:20SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 5:20SPEAKER_03: And uh moved up to Cameron Park in 2022.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Bit of a That's probably a little change in pace.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was changing pace.
- 5:28SPEAKER_03: You know, my husband's like, let's move to the foothills.
- 5:30SPEAKER_03: I'm like, what is that?
- 5:31SPEAKER_03: And where in the East Bay were you?
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: Uh in Walnut Creek.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: And so what happened was I went to go on a quick little walk, a hike, and I left my Louis Vuitton in my car underneath my seat.
- 5:45SPEAKER_03: And I came back and I'm like, oh gosh, they someone broke into my car.
- 5:49SPEAKER_03: And they took my big ol' purse with my wallet.
- 5:52SPEAKER_03: We just got back from Maui.
- 5:55SPEAKER_03: I had my real estate business cards in there, um, my address, my wallet, everything.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Oh gosh.
- 6:01SPEAKER_03: So now I'm like, oh my gosh, they're gonna go to my house.
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know.
- 6:05SPEAKER_03: And then I said to my husband, I said, Where'd you say you wanted to go again?
- 6:08SPEAKER_03: And he mentioned rescue, and I'm like, so, anyways, my kids and I came up uh three weekends in a row and we found Cameron Park.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: And it really reminded How old are your kids?
- 6:18SPEAKER_03: 16 and 11.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 6:20SPEAKER_03: And it really reminded me of a Moraga Lafayette area with the tree lines and the unique houses.
- 6:27SPEAKER_03: So it was really beautiful.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: Very cool.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: Very cool.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: So you've been here for about four years.
- 6:32SPEAKER_04: How did you get into real estate?
- 6:35SPEAKER_03: So I mean, I go I j I turned 50 this year.
- 6:39SPEAKER_03: So I have a I go you look great.
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: I go back.
- 6:42SPEAKER_03: So um I was always in healthcare and hospitality.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: And then um I I have older children too, three older children.
- 6:50SPEAKER_03: My daughter's friend at the time, her mom was like, You would make a great realtor.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: And I think it was like 24, 25.
- 6:57SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, What?
- 6:59SPEAKER_03: She got me into timeshares.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: Oh gosh.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: In NAPA.
- 7:03SPEAKER_03: In NAPA.
- 7:05SPEAKER_03: Who knew you could make a lot of money in timeshares?
- 7:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Well, I I know now in this.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, I would guess the the the you know, the when you get called into the one in Mexico and they lock the door behind you and you can't get out until you can see something.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: I mean, I guess there's probably a probably some light at the end of the tunnel financially.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: So you had you had to get your real estate license.
- 7:25SPEAKER_03: These ladies were all well dressed, they were beautiful, um, made a lot of money.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: I mean, just great older women to be around.
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: And I started working at River Point in Napa selling these little mobile homes along the river.
- 7:40SPEAKER_03: And when I learned how to do this, and I sat down with a couple with a book showing them what the two nest destinations in the world are, which is Disneyland and Napa, and how you can exchange to go to any of these areas and why people want Napa because you know, so many visitors are coming.
- 8:00SPEAKER_03: Um, but not only that, it became emotional.
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: I learned all about taking a vacation together, makes a happy marriage.
- 8:08SPEAKER_03: Your children love traveling more than just giving them toys.
- 8:12SPEAKER_03: It's good for our health.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: So I really believed in that.
- 8:15SPEAKER_03: And so it came naturally.
- 8:17SPEAKER_03: And I think I I can't I think it was my first or second week.
- 8:20SPEAKER_03: I made top rookie.
- 8:21SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 8:22SPEAKER_03: For the most sells.
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:23SPEAKER_04: In your first or second week.
- 8:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:25SPEAKER_03: That's amazing.
- 8:25SPEAKER_03: And then I got recruited to shell vacation in San Francisco, selling the Argonaut over the water.
- 8:31SPEAKER_03: And um, again, just you know, good money, a good lifestyle.
- 8:36SPEAKER_03: I had three young kids at the time, and working in the hospital graveyard shifts were really tough.
- 8:40SPEAKER_03: And so this was a way for me to, I was a single mom to make a lot of money and be home with my kids.
- 8:46SPEAKER_03: Awesome.
- 8:47SPEAKER_03: That's amazing.
- 8:47SPEAKER_04: I think that's also such a testament, too, of what happens when you're not just selling, but you're transferring, it's the power of belief, right?
- 8:55SPEAKER_04: We always my wife and I were both in sales, and we always say that sales really is just a transfer of belief.
- 9:01SPEAKER_04: So when you really believe in the product that you're selling, when you're sharing about it, it's not a sales pitch.
- 9:07SPEAKER_04: It's like a powerful testimony, and that's the most persuasive thing that anybody can ever listen to.
- 9:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: And then it came natural.
- 9:13SPEAKER_03: And then, you know, I started traveling, and then you just, you know, happy, you know, you you'll live longer if you take one vacation a year, you know, take two weeks.
- 9:21SPEAKER_04: Or 10 if you can afford it.
- 9:24SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 9:25SPEAKER_03: And so, you know, and then uh recruited to shell vacation.
- 9:29SPEAKER_03: Well, then I met someone over there that was like, have you ever heard about loans financing mortgage?
- 9:35SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, That's where they get you.
- 9:37SPEAKER_03: What?
- 9:37SPEAKER_03: And then I got recruited into a loan officer.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: Worked with a great couple companies there in Lafayette.
- 9:45SPEAKER_03: My brokers loved me.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: I mean, they spoiled me and I did really well.
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: I mean, they gave me a Chicago title book, and these our title reps will probably remember this.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: We had a black book from Chicago Title, and it had everyone's names and phone numbers.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: And I would go down the list and call people, and I knew their rate, and I would let them know how I could lower their interest rate.
- 10:08SPEAKER_03: I made six figures in my first year at calling out of a book.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: And then we um I met my husband actually in 2005, and I said, let's move to Moraga.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: He's like, Well, what's Moraga?
- 10:21SPEAKER_03: How do you even know about this place?
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: Moraga's awesome.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: That's where St.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: Mary's College is.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:26SPEAKER_03: And he's like, and he was from Livermore, and he's like, why?
- 10:29SPEAKER_03: And I did a vision board, picked out, you know, my husband, and we're moving to Moraga.
- 10:34SPEAKER_03: Everything came true.
- 10:35SPEAKER_03: I did the secret.
- 10:37SPEAKER_03: And um, I just felt so empowered at that time just to be, you know, in the business, not doing anything bad.
- 10:43SPEAKER_03: So my first year I did six figures.
- 10:45SPEAKER_03: The year after that was all built on referrals.
- 10:48SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 10:48SPEAKER_03: And word of mouth.
- 10:49SPEAKER_03: And then I did like I gave back to the school, started uh with one of my good friends, um, the American Canyon Youth Football pop corner team, um, the Patriots.
- 11:00SPEAKER_03: We started that.
- 11:00SPEAKER_03: We were one of the founders of that.
- 11:02SPEAKER_03: That's amazing.
- 11:03SPEAKER_03: So where else do I go?
- 11:05SPEAKER_03: And then um I had Juliana in 206, uh, no, 2010, and I had to stop doing loans.
- 11:12SPEAKER_03: I was doing them here and there, but it was just, you know, doing the modifications, all those things were just too difficult, just too much.
- 11:19SPEAKER_03: I actually ended up working for um Home Savings of America and Walnut Creek and did a lot of their interest rate reduction VA loans.
- 11:26SPEAKER_03: I think I did a 200 that year that I went there over the phone getting social security.
- 11:32SPEAKER_03: Oh, geez.
- 11:33SPEAKER_03: So I'm made for this, right?
- 11:34SPEAKER_03: Now I'm a firm believer that I'm made for this.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: Um and so yeah, raised our kids in Moraga.
- 11:41SPEAKER_03: And then in 2013, 2014, a really good friend of mine that I did mortgages with, his uh father was the founder of the Pulse Oxemeter, the standard way to measure oxygen worldwide.
- 11:51SPEAKER_03: And he said, My dad's opening up a new medical device.
- 11:55SPEAKER_03: And what are you doing?
- 11:56SPEAKER_03: We would love for you to come interview and be one of our sales directors.
- 11:59SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, What?
- 12:01SPEAKER_03: He's like, Yeah, he's all you got to interview with Procter and Gamble though.
- 12:04SPEAKER_03: Interviewed with them, um, made the cut, and I started selling um a medical device that would it's emotion sensors to detect if a senior falls in their home without having to push the button.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Oh, gotcha.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's incredible.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: So I helped basically now that technology is in your Apple Watch.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:24SPEAKER_03: And this is a motion sensor that we would place in each room.
- 12:26SPEAKER_03: And so wherever your mom would go, if like she didn't come out of the room in a certain amount of time, let's say the bathroom for 45 minutes, you, the adult child or the caregiver, would get an alert.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: And it wasn't like Big Brother, it was just a blue dot.
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: So it was no like cameras.
- 12:41SPEAKER_03: Um and we helped so many people get found.
- 12:45SPEAKER_03: I have stories after stories.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: I bet.
- 12:47unknown: Yeah.
- 12:47SPEAKER_03: And then so I got into the senior care space, started working with assisted living, non-medical home care.
- 12:53SPEAKER_03: Um, and then 2019, they were kind of changing the company around, moving it towards Ohio, and now they're actually doing remote monitoring for adults with disabilities or children who have um different disabilities so that a physical caregiver can't hurt them.
- 13:07SPEAKER_03: They actually use remote technology with cameras.
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: Which is really neat.
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I should look it up.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: That's really cool.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: Really cool.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: And then I said, you know, I built your business, now it's time for me.
- 13:16SPEAKER_03: Oh, I remember too, they were like, Oh, you you know, you can't take as much vacation anymore because I got a lot of freedom.
- 13:22SPEAKER_03: A car, company car, I got to work from home, out in the field all over.
- 13:27SPEAKER_03: And I was like, What?
- 13:28SPEAKER_03: I can't take as much vacation as I want.
- 13:30SPEAKER_03: I'm like three weeks, you know.
- 13:32SPEAKER_03: And that's why I said, I'm getting my real estate license, you know, and no one's ever gonna tell me when I can take vacation again.
- 13:39SPEAKER_03: Remember, travel.
- 13:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, freedom.
- 13:42SPEAKER_03: And I got my license in 2019, but I really didn't start really getting into it until I moved to Cameron Park.
- 13:48SPEAKER_04: Gotcha.
- 13:49SPEAKER_03: I just helped family and friends down there in the area.
- 13:51SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 13:52SPEAKER_04: So we've mentioned before you have a very unique niche that you get your business from.
- 13:59SPEAKER_04: So tell us about that, how you got started, how it's evolved.
- 14:04SPEAKER_04: You can now reveal what that niche is.
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I love sharing this with everybody because it's so slept on.
- 14:10SPEAKER_03: But actually, I think more people are finding out about it now that you've used it.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: So um the next door app.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:15SPEAKER_03: Your local little app that's in your neighborhood.
- 14:18SPEAKER_03: Uh, I remember laying on my floor meditating, going, How am I gonna get known?
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: Okay, I can do postcards, I'll be out on the soccer field, you know.
- 14:28SPEAKER_03: Oh, the next door app.
- 14:29SPEAKER_03: Because I had used the next door app in the Bay Area, but more for like crime and what's going on, you know, it was all just like that kind of stuff.
- 14:37SPEAKER_03: It was really never anything positive, like community building or events.
- 14:41SPEAKER_03: And I flipped the script and done 12 events in my neighborhood that I created, and I I used my next my news, my neighbors.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: So the first event was a purse drive.
- 14:53SPEAKER_03: So I said, hey neighbors, I'm doing a purse drive uh for women's month.
- 14:57SPEAKER_03: Do you have any gently used or new purses that you'd be willing to donate donate?
- 15:02SPEAKER_03: And I think I got like 200 and something.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 15:06SPEAKER_03: So now I'm going from my house to their houses.
- 15:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: To pick them up.
- 15:10SPEAKER_03: And they're seeing my face.
- 15:12SPEAKER_03: I'm at the doors.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: Then I um donate that we have a women's event.
- 15:16SPEAKER_03: Actually, we had the women's event in Walnut Creek because I was still kind of like I was tied to the East Bay.
- 15:21SPEAKER_03: So I had a big women's event there, and dress for success is who we donated the purses to, and they came, they did a bunch of content on me.
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: I got Women's of the Month that month, and then I took all that content and put it back in a next door and I said, Thank you, neighbors, look what we've done.
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: Um, but it was the Sacramento dress for success.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: They just came to Walnut Creek to my event.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: So they picked it all up.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: It's like, and it ties into like that whole like simple, not easy idea, right?
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was a lot of work.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: No, well, no.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: I mean, at the end of the day, what I think we you just have to be the organizer.
- 15:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:56SPEAKER_03: Um, my thing is it's not how about how am I gonna do it, who am I gonna do it with.
- 16:01SPEAKER_03: And you know, I have, you know, my really good friend who helped me build um in my area.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: She's a uh marriage family therapist.
- 16:11SPEAKER_03: And I met her at a women's event in Granite Bay, uh real estate event, and she's like, oh no, I'm a therapist.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: I'm like, okay, well, what are you doing?
- 16:18SPEAKER_03: And we made best friends, and I said, Will you help me do these events?
- 16:21SPEAKER_03: And so she was like my speaker for Beautiful Mind during um mental health a month in f February.
- 16:29SPEAKER_03: So I did that.
- 16:30SPEAKER_03: And then I would bring these events to local businesses like wineries and um nutrition stores.
- 16:37SPEAKER_03: We've done fitness, we've done sock drive, blanket drive.
- 16:41SPEAKER_03: So cool.
- 16:41SPEAKER_03: Food drive.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: And it's benefiting both of your businesses, I'm sorry.
- 16:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's bring it's connecting everybody.
- 16:47SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 16:48SPEAKER_04: And uh what I love about that, I always used to say in title and when I was helping people build their business, there's two types of marketing.
- 16:55SPEAKER_04: There's your active marketing, which is like just listed, just sold like real estate specific, but then there's passive marketing where you're getting your brand and your face awareness out there, but you're doing things that are bettering and helping and building the community.
- 17:08SPEAKER_04: That's really what real estate is, right?
- 17:10SPEAKER_04: So when you're putting on these events, you're building your brand awareness.
- 17:14SPEAKER_04: You're not actively asking people, hey, who do you know that wants to buy or sell?
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: Um and you're doing things that make people appreciate you and trust you.
- 17:25SPEAKER_04: And so the relationship's already there.
- 17:27SPEAKER_04: And then now they're just actively going to be thinking about you when it comes to real estate.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: Top of mind.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: I love what you said about how, you know, and I think this is somewhat common in the social media space where so many things are just the negative, the negative, the negative.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: And it was like you wanted to provide a ray of light.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: And like that was intentional, right?
- 17:47SPEAKER_03: Very intentional, yeah.
- 17:48SPEAKER_03: I manifested on the floor, you know, floor.
- 17:50SPEAKER_03: What am I gonna tell you?
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: And it it's it's just really cool that it that it worked, right?
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: Because like you discovered a space that needed some positivity, you put the positivity in it, and it and it was great.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: It made the space better, it worked, it benefited you, it benefited everybody who was on the receiving end of the purses and all the things.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: So I mean it was just this snowball effect.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: I think that's so just so rad, like such a cool thing.
- 18:13SPEAKER_03: And so I go on there and engage.
- 18:15SPEAKER_03: You I had uh like 11,000 views on one of my posts, like raindrops song was playing in my head, and I'm like, what's uh what's on your head mind today, you know?
- 18:25SPEAKER_03: Or this is what I made for dinner, what are you guys making?
- 18:28SPEAKER_03: What's your favorite movie during Christmas?
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: Here's my top five.
- 18:32SPEAKER_03: And it gets all these people, and I live in a town of 19,000.
- 18:35SPEAKER_03: So if 11,000 people are seeing me and I get noticed at the gas station, hey, you're the next door lady, can I have your card?
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: Or um people are asking for a realtor, and now my name gets dropped in there.
- 18:46SPEAKER_03: Joelyn Brooks, she's she does so much for our community.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: Um, and then getting the listings at the end of the day is just amazing, but I mean it it's it's just all like so much of the work is done on reputation before you even show up, it sounds like it's amazing.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: And it fills my soul.
- 19:06SPEAKER_03: You know, it feels good to be.
- 19:07SPEAKER_03: I love giving back, I love gifting people.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: Well, and I think you've touched on a couple things that obviously you're doing what you do, you've always done what you do for the right reasons.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: It's not for the paycheck, it's not I mean, obviously the paycheck is the reward.
- 19:21SPEAKER_04: It's the reward, yeah.
- 19:23SPEAKER_03: But it's not and I get to help the people that really need me to help them because they might not have the best person out there that could have done the transaction.
- 19:30SPEAKER_04: Has like genuine care and intention for their best interest.
- 19:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: So I want to so I this is so bad.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, I can't wait.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: I apologize in advance.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: We're we're talking about all the positivity and all the good things.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but I'm and you're such a tell us about a terrible client experience.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: Have you had do you have like a nightmare client like that you went through?
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: Because I don't know why.
- 19:54SPEAKER_03: I think some people could take advantage of us and I know when to cut them off now.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 19:58SPEAKER_03: So they got fired.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: Gotcha.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: Maybe a$1.6 million dollar listing and they got fired.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: Because of my marketing and my so I do like luxury marketing and I do so uh all of my clients, they get a listing video tailored to their property.
- 20:15SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, I work with$60,000 mobile homes for a 76-year-old lady that I just helped buy a house that she hasn't owned in 15 years, you know, and I also sell luxury on the lake.
- 20:26SPEAKER_03: And so everybody gets a different video, but somebody didn't like one of my videos that they saw me flying over Placerville.
- 20:33SPEAKER_03: But I was like, I don't know who you are to judge my marketing for that specific client.
- 20:37SPEAKER_03: You he didn't get a video like that.
- 20:39SPEAKER_03: He had a different style video.
- 20:41SPEAKER_04: It wasn't even for his own property.
- 20:43SPEAKER_04: No.
- 20:44SPEAKER_04: But he got upset about how you did it.
- 20:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he got upset.
- 20:47SPEAKER_03: I think he they just were not nice people at the end of the day.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: So well, it's good, and you snuffed it out and said, uh, go work with somebody else.
- 20:55SPEAKER_03: So that wasn't nice, you know.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: I feel like some people can kind of take advantage of us and think that, like, oh, realtors make all this money in the world and you know, they want to pick at us, yeah.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Just out socializing.
- 21:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and because of that, they get to nitpick and boss and micromanage, and it's like and they don't understand we do all this upfront with you know, not getting paid.
- 21:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah and no guarantee.
- 21:16SPEAKER_03: And no guarantee.
- 21:17SPEAKER_03: Uh last Christmas I had a real I was really, I was crying in tears.
- 21:21SPEAKER_03: Uh I had a really nice listing and I was helping my seller that lived in Maui, and we were trying to sell this property, and it was beautifully remodeled, gorgeous views, and the market just kind of turned up.
- 21:33SPEAKER_03: It was like in it was in January.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: We actually got a coming up on about a year of a really tough market.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: We got a really nice offer, but they fell out because they were contingent selling their home in the Bay Area, and that's when the Bay Area slowed down last year.
- 21:45SPEAKER_03: So they couldn't even sell their house in Pleasanton.
- 21:48SPEAKER_03: Uh, but anyway, so we got this lady, she got into contract, she lived in the neighborhood, she would come in the morning, and then she was like, Can I come at night?
- 21:55SPEAKER_03: Shut off all the lights, let me look at it, meet her cookies, all the things.
- 21:58SPEAKER_03: She's like, I love it, I want it.
- 22:01SPEAKER_03: Went through inspections, um, released all her contingencies three days before we get ready to close at Christmas time.
- 22:09SPEAKER_03: I'm in Disneyland with my daughters and her friends.
- 22:11SPEAKER_03: I get the call.
- 22:12SPEAKER_03: I can't move forward.
- 22:13SPEAKER_03: It's just not the right time.
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: And I had to call my seller, and I'm just like, oh my gosh.
- 22:19SPEAKER_03: I'm crying.
- 22:20SPEAKER_03: I'm like, what do you mean?
- 22:21SPEAKER_03: I'm like, you love this property.
- 22:23SPEAKER_03: And that was really hard.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: Were you representing both sides?
- 22:27SPEAKER_03: You know what?
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: I was.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: You were in a really hard spot then.
- 22:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you're right.
- 22:33SPEAKER_03: I forgot about that part.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: I forgot I was more worried about my seller telling him that because he we needed to sell the property, you know?
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: Um, it was vacant, gorgeous home.
- 22:44SPEAKER_03: But yeah, you're right.
- 22:45SPEAKER_03: I was.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 22:46SPEAKER_03: So now that I think about it.
- 22:48SPEAKER_03: I was, yeah.
- 22:49SPEAKER_03: And that's almost a million dollars.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm sorry to I'm sorry to bring up old uh old rehash old wounds.
- 22:55SPEAKER_03: But I learned a lot through that is that you really can't count on, you know what I mean?
- 22:59SPEAKER_03: Anything can happen at any given time.
- 23:01SPEAKER_04: That's what I've man, my wife is like celebrating this buyer that I finally got into contract, who you've shown.
- 23:06SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 23:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:07SPEAKER_04: Eight months of working with this buyer, showing him houses, putting out offers, and um she's like so excited for me.
- 23:14SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, we're not celebrating yet.
- 23:16SPEAKER_04: Like we can be excited, but it's not done until it's done in real estate.
- 23:19SPEAKER_04: See the finish line.
- 23:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, like we have not crossed it.
- 23:22SPEAKER_04: But until this is recording, like I'm not, I can't allow myself to get excited and celebrate it because truly anything can happen in real estate.
- 23:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I'm just so trusting to believe that too.
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: You know, like, oh, everything's fine.
- 23:34SPEAKER_03: Like, no, you don't know.
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: Someone could pass away, or you just don't know.
- 23:38SPEAKER_03: Anything could happen.
- 23:39SPEAKER_03: Literally, anything can happen.
- 23:40SPEAKER_04: I want to touch on this because you've mentioned it a few times about like manifesting, and you have some really fun catchphrases that you use along the way.
- 23:50SPEAKER_04: And I think that part of part of your success is undeniably attributed to your positive mindset and what you do to intentionally focus on manifesting positive results.
- 24:02SPEAKER_04: So tell us about that journey.
- 24:04SPEAKER_04: Have you always been super happy and positive and just like Yeah, you know, my friends will say that.
- 24:12SPEAKER_03: Um, I had kids really young.
- 24:13SPEAKER_03: I was a teen mom.
- 24:14SPEAKER_03: I graduated high school with two kids.
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: Oh, wow.
- 24:17SPEAKER_03: And um, one of my friends told me she said, I would have never graduated high school had you not showed shown up at my house every day to get me to go.
- 24:25SPEAKER_03: And so I think that it's either the positive side or the negative side.
- 24:31SPEAKER_03: And if I did the negative side, what would my future look like?
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: What would my family look like today?
- 24:36SPEAKER_03: You know?
- 24:37SPEAKER_03: So I can do hard things.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: I can do hard things.
- 24:41SPEAKER_03: So I've always um, yeah, just around very positive people.
- 24:44SPEAKER_03: You know, I was very fortunate to be around like women that were just older than me and you know, doing timeshares or working at the hospital.
- 24:52SPEAKER_03: And I just and faith.
- 24:55SPEAKER_03: 100% faith, God, and just knowing that something's better and somebody has it worse than I do, and you know, so obviously the glass is half full.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: That makes sense.
- 25:06SPEAKER_03: Um but yeah, um uh rejection is protection, right?
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: When one of my favorite ones.
- 25:12SPEAKER_03: When got maybe a client or someone's rejecting us, or maybe we lose a friend, we're being protected.
- 25:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:18SPEAKER_03: So and then what gets celebrated gets replicated.
- 25:21SPEAKER_04: Oh, I also love that one.
- 25:23SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 25:23SPEAKER_04: I love that.
- 25:24SPEAKER_04: I've experienced the power of that one before.
- 25:27SPEAKER_04: What gets celebrated gets replicated.
- 25:30SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 25:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:31SPEAKER_03: And then I my I my m my husband's grandma, we took care of her when she had Alzheimer's around um 2021.
- 25:37SPEAKER_03: And she passed away that year, but she always had the cutest phrases and she was always so happy up until the day she passed away.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: And it's like, just remember that.
- 25:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:47SPEAKER_04: Life, life is gonna do what life does, but you have the power to choose your mindset about it, no matter what.
- 25:53SPEAKER_03: I mean, I do get upset here, and some people can really irritate me, and sometimes I may say something, and then but I'm like, gosh, I was triggered to do that.
- 26:04SPEAKER_04: Well, you're only human, of course.
- 26:10SPEAKER_03: Like, why did you do that?
- 26:11SPEAKER_03: Like we everything we because we want everything to go so smoothly, and maybe the other people on the other side don't, and they don't get it, and we have no control over that.
- 26:19SPEAKER_04: There's so much that we don't have control over in real estate.
- 26:22SPEAKER_04: I don't think that that's something our clients or even like most of the population really understands how many people are involved in a real estate transaction that have to coordinate and depend on each other.
- 26:33SPEAKER_04: I mean, I think it I can think of like 17 key players right now, but then each of those players have other people that they have to depend on to, you know, get the reports back and approve this and approve that.
- 26:43SPEAKER_00: And then like and they also have their own like priorities.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: Right, exactly.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: Um there's so many times where, especially when I was in the inspection world, and let me let it so it was like everybody's inspection was the most important inspection.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: I was like, we did 50 of them yesterday.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: Your inspector did six by himself.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: So he has six people who think that that inspection is the most important thing in the world.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and that's just and oh, by the way, he has a brand new baby.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: You know, like so it is.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: It's hard.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: You have to kind of step back and take a deep breath and understand that, yeah, like my priorities aren't always necessarily everybody else in the in the pipeline's priorities as well.
- 27:20SPEAKER_05: True.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: Um, but sometimes, you know, sometimes the rubber is meeting the road.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: And you gotta make that phone call.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: Hey, I actually do.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: I need you to prioritize, right?
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: Like I need to be really important to you right now for the people just want to feel like they're the most important thing.
- 27:33SPEAKER_04: And it's easy to do that.
- 27:34SPEAKER_04: I want to take a second really quickly and talk about this because what's happening in the market right now, I think that there's a lot of people with a great amount of compunction about the real estate market.
- 27:44SPEAKER_04: Um Ryan Lindquist just posted some information yesterday about our buyer demand being the third worst in history in our local market since 1999.
- 27:56SPEAKER_04: How are you staying positive?
- 27:58SPEAKER_04: What are you doing to focus on continuing to generate business despite what the market conditions are doing and all the negativity and fear and doubt that's being created because of it?
- 28:07SPEAKER_03: Um yeah, so just my follow-ups, follow-ups, nurturing my neighborhood next door, putting out marketing pieces, um, really staying involved with agents that I've met that have given me referrals in the past, you know, checking in on them, engaging.
- 28:21SPEAKER_03: Um, I mean that residential market.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: And it's it's it's in the uh, you know, the the the motivating factors in the commercial space are a little different.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: It's not like you know, death diapers, divorce, um things like that.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: But I mean we are we are kind of in that market again where affordability is really, really putting a lot of stress on things.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Um it sounds like there is a little bit of a growing inventory of distressed homes or you know, um short sale homes or bank-owned properties.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: There might be some coming down the road.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: Um, so I think that you know, everyone's everyone's needs are a little bit different.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: You know, we just need to stay in the game.
- 29:00SPEAKER_03: Just stay in the game, stay consistent, stay consistent.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: I've had that conversation so much lately.
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: Just keep showing up, keep having that conversation.
- 29:06SPEAKER_00: Like, sure, I know things aren't moving really a lot right now, but like you can't just tuck tail and go hide.
- 29:11SPEAKER_04: And also educate yourself on different sectors, right?
- 29:14SPEAKER_04: Like it it doesn't have to just be your ri your typical buy-sell transaction.
- 29:20SPEAKER_04: One thing, and this is what I tell people all the time when they're like, Oh, how are you?
- 29:23SPEAKER_04: The market's terrible.
- 29:24SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, Well, I'm closing business, yeah, and it might not be a crazy volume, but I know people who are still crushing it.
- 29:31SPEAKER_04: And also the market has never stopped.
- 29:34SPEAKER_04: One way or another, it's moving, whether it's the short sale or the REOs, like one way or another, the market keeps moving.
- 29:41SPEAKER_04: So you just have to be agile enough to see where it's going.
- 29:44SPEAKER_04: Know what you're doing.
- 29:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and position yourself to say, okay, well, if we're gonna have more short sales, then I'm going to educate myself and really know how to do short sales.
- 29:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I did a short sale last month.
- 29:53SPEAKER_03: You did.
- 29:54SPEAKER_03: See, I mean American Canyon.
- 29:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:56SPEAKER_04: American Canyon.
- 29:57SPEAKER_04: That's the presentation.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: And I love, and you know, we'll we'll we'll just continue to give Ryan Lundquist his flowers.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: He's he's he's one of our only multiple-time guests.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: But Ryan, you know, deserves it.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: Ryan put something out a few years ago, and I don't think I'll ever forget this because it was so impactful, like for me.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: He was like, Yes, the market is missing half of the transactions that it had this time last year.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: But here's 2,200 transactions that did happen.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: So let's stop focusing on the ones that aren't and figure out how you're gonna get a piece of the ones that are, because that the number that are is not zero.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: And you can get some of that.
- 30:32SPEAKER_03: If you want to do that, yeah, there's still plenty for all of us that are actively working in the market.
- 30:36SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: And because when the market shifts like that, you have people who who who don't want to work as hard or they don't want to work for and they go, I'm gonna go find my nine to five, I'm gonna go back to work, I'm gonna get my benefits or whatever.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: So now you actually have less people competing for that business as well.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: Which I just I just it's just so simple to think of, but it's like such a great simple isn't easy, yeah.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: Simple is not easy, exactly.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: Simple, not easy.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: But I've been hearing that we're in a bad market for the last four years.
- 31:01SPEAKER_03: Right, yeah, but I consistently do 10 million over.
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: I mean, this year's my to highest year since I've been here.
- 31:07SPEAKER_04: Ditto.
- 31:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this is my best year since being in real estate in the last three years, which is interesting because it's like look at you two snowballs just gaining.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: I think it's just who we're aligned with.
- 31:15SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's our alignment be stopped.
- 31:18SPEAKER_03: It's our alignment and who we're around, it's our culture, right?
- 31:22SPEAKER_04: Totally.
- 31:23SPEAKER_04: That's one of the reasons why I love being around people who have high energy, high vibes, and who are just willing to say, like, I don't care what the sentiment is or the narrative.
- 31:32SPEAKER_04: I'm just gonna put my head down and I'm gonna do the basics every day.
- 31:36SPEAKER_03: Do your content, make your calls, do your door knock if you want to, post on next door.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: So I I'm guessing with your all with your level of authenticity, you're not using AI for much.
- 31:47SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh, you guys, I just used Claude yesterday for the first time.
- 31:51SPEAKER_04: What did you have it do?
- 31:52SPEAKER_03: Okay, so I'm getting ready to do a next door presentation to um our FFN family, a masterclass.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: And I took my old presentation and gave it to Claude and said, update this with new stuff, and it made me a beautiful presentation.
- 32:07SPEAKER_03: Saves you hours of stress and headache.
- 32:09SPEAKER_03: And I feel really bad also.
- 32:10SPEAKER_03: I had something wrong with my computer, and I screenshotted it, sent it to Claude, and I'm like, what's going on with my computer?
- 32:15SPEAKER_03: He's like, Oh, it looks like it's stuck on a setting.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: Just do this, this, and this, and then this, and then re and then uh reboot, or not reboot, um, update your computer and told me how to update it, done.
- 32:26SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 32:27SPEAKER_03: AI.
- 32:28SPEAKER_03: IT, what's gonna happen?
- 32:29SPEAKER_03: IT.
- 32:29SPEAKER_04: Oh, they're becoming obsolete.
- 32:31SPEAKER_03: We will not be driving our computers into the store anymore.
- 32:34SPEAKER_04: They're gonna be it, it's what it's gonna do is it's gonna create maybe a part where there's some necessary oversight, but ultimately it's gonna eliminate a lot of that.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: I watched a super scary little Netflix thing the other day while I was walking on the treadmill.
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: It was about those frickin' bots that went rogue in the AI.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: Like and I mean, it was wild.
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think it's like a 20 or 30 minute little short thing, but uh they attacked this company, and basically you saw the like the bots or whatever they are, like literally create this mob mentality, actively decide to defy their rules and say, oh, you know, like and it was interesting because like they they talk the way that humans talk.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: And it's all recorded, right?
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: So there's digital coding of all this.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: So when the forensics went in and looked at it, they're like, oh my gosh, this literally sounds like a gang of teenagers talking about how they're gonna go steal candy bars from the gas station, right?
- 33:31SPEAKER_00: Like it was crazy, it was absolutely crazy.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: And I mean, and I've been just fascinated the last six months, the evolution, how fast the technology is moving.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: I'm like, you know, for my last 20 years, like technology's moved really fast.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: It is nothing compared to the last six months.
- 33:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I would agree with that.
- 33:48SPEAKER_04: That's why I'm like, it's gonna be so insane in like 10 years to see what technology does because it's compounding at the level that it's evolving.
- 33:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 33:56SPEAKER_04: And it's frightening.
- 33:58SPEAKER_04: But it's like fascinating and incredible, but also a little bit frightening at the same time.
- 34:03SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 34:04SPEAKER_03: It's really scary.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: But it's all a lot of it.
- 34:07SPEAKER_00: It's interesting right, like it's scary because bad people can do bad things with it.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: But I've used a lot of it like in really cool ways.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: Like I'm using an app called Hey Gen, I believe it's called, and it's like it's it's my virtual avatar.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: I mean, I gave it a picture of me.
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: I tell it what I want to wear.
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: I go, create me this video, you know, like I want to wear some Travis Scott Jordan one low top in this color, and that's what I'm wearing.
- 34:33unknown: Huh.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: Like it's that's pretty cool.
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: And then what do you do with that?
- 34:36SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 34:36SPEAKER_02: Like, can I can it sound like that?
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: I've been using it for videos in the in the commercial space, like a lot of multi-family saying, so I'll go, so I'll use chat or Claude to kind of give me my prompt and give me my ideas, and then I'll say, okay, well, let's create this, and I tell it, create this in a format for HeyGen, and it literally and then I just copy and paste it over to HeyGen.
- 34:55SPEAKER_00: HeyGen takes five, ten minutes, spits something out, says, What do you think?
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: I go in, make the changes, suggestions, whatever.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: A half hour can knock out uh what would take two days of to do on a video.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: And way better.
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: It's amazing.
- 35:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I use it also for all my event flyers.
- 35:13SPEAKER_03: You know, just take the stuff pictures, put it on there, and say, create this for me.
- 35:18SPEAKER_04: If you're not using it, you're gonna get left behind.
- 35:20SPEAKER_04: That's the unfortunate truth.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: So so uh let's we're gonna we're gonna jump around the board a little bit here because everything's just kind of on on topic.
- 35:28SPEAKER_00: So where do you see your business in the next five to ten years?
- 35:31SPEAKER_03: Well, I hired an assistant.
- 35:34SPEAKER_03: Um I just growing.
- 35:36unknown: Yeah.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: Continue to grow.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:38SPEAKER_03: Continue to grow.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: Also uh the queen of Cameron Park.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: The next door queen.
- 35:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:45SPEAKER_03: Hashtag NextdoorFamous.
- 35:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, next doorfamous.
- 35:48SPEAKER_00: Are we using that?
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: Are you using that hashtag Next Door?
- 35:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that came about when I was at a party with my husband early on.
- 35:55SPEAKER_03: And uh a lady was like, Oh, Joelin, I saw you on Nextdoor.
- 35:59SPEAKER_03: I had to screenshot it and send it to um Emily.
- 36:03SPEAKER_03: And I looked at my husband, hashtag NextdoorFamous.
- 36:06SPEAKER_03: You made it.
- 36:07SPEAKER_03: You made it, Ma.
- 36:08SPEAKER_03: He's like, stop it.
- 36:09SPEAKER_00: So just for the records, for all of our listeners that that want to utilize this beautiful idea of how to maximize business from next door, just if you live in Cameron Park, stay the fuck out, bro.
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 36:21SPEAKER_04: Try it anywhere else other than Cameron Park.
- 36:24SPEAKER_03: Actually, what's crazy is like, so when people are looking for a realtron next door and then names get dropped, so mine gets dropped, I get interviewed, and then my newest listing goes on there and says they interviewed me and they chose me.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: Now they're dropping my name.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: Oh, we picked her, she's with this, and she's great.
- 36:42SPEAKER_03: And then recently somebody called my client, we're not a market yet, and he she tried to interview prior to me.
- 36:49SPEAKER_03: And she's like, you know what?
- 36:50SPEAKER_03: She's really good helping find people homes, but she's only had six listings this year.
- 36:55SPEAKER_03: Six listings that have closed and six pen and six active.
- 36:58SPEAKER_03: So it's like, what do you mean?
- 36:59SPEAKER_03: Plus, I already have, you know, all my buyers.
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: And it's like rule number one in sales like talk about what you can do, like keep other people's names out of your hands.
- 37:07SPEAKER_04: That's like the first ethical violation is to like talk neg negatively about because he did say that he's that he they chose me.
- 37:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 37:14SPEAKER_03: And then someone went and called him after the fact.
- 37:17SPEAKER_04: Wow, that's scandalous.
- 37:19SPEAKER_04: So even though you we're all we're all competing, but I mean that's why my tagline is there's a lot of realtors and there's not a lot of professionals.
- 37:28SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 37:29SPEAKER_04: Like a professional would never come and try to undermine another professional as their leverage to try to win.
- 37:37SPEAKER_04: Like you you either provide your value or you don't have it.
- 37:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: The slogan that I hear that I my favorite slogan that aligns with that is uh take the high road, there's less traffic.
- 37:47SPEAKER_04: Ooh.
- 37:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 37:48SPEAKER_04: I love that.
- 37:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 37:49SPEAKER_04: Do you want to put that on your campaign for president?
- 37:52SPEAKER_03: Or yeah, I love that.
- 37:53SPEAKER_03: There is less traffic on the high road.
- 37:55SPEAKER_03: You are right.
- 37:56SPEAKER_03: 100%.
- 37:58SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 37:59SPEAKER_03: I'm adding that one.
- 38:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: Please use it.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: Please use it.
- 38:02SPEAKER_03: I'll quote you.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: Um okay, so so obviously, so are there any other trends or things that I mean the Claude thing is actually really cool.
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: And you know, like they say, like I mean, I'm not far, I'm not, I'm a couple years younger than you, but we're not spring chickens anymore, unfortunately.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: But so you adapting to these things is is sometimes hard for us.
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:19SPEAKER_03: Um I think I because I came up here already using a lot of um video and we were already on camera.
- 38:25SPEAKER_03: We were doing content, we were doing events, we were doing it.
- 38:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I already had the north of the south bay.
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: I was like, I'm bringing these fast skills to the hills.
- 38:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 38:34SPEAKER_03: Like, you know, like a another time.
- 38:38SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, like real housewife when they have their like skills.
- 38:41SPEAKER_03: And I was putting my hill, bring these fast skills to the hills.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: How do your how do your kids feel about your social media presence?
- 38:48SPEAKER_00: They're good now.
- 38:48SPEAKER_00: They're cool with it.
- 38:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and they're like, Oh, my friends are following you.
- 38:51SPEAKER_03: They saw you on next door.
- 38:52SPEAKER_03: Um, Ponderosa's um uh P teacher, you know, they see you on next door.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: Escobar you.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: My 16-year-old is is usually still pretty up.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: She's like, Dad, you post like an old person.
- 39:04SPEAKER_00: I go, babe, I'm old.
- 39:06SPEAKER_00: I'm not I'm not a teenager.
- 39:07SPEAKER_00: At least you're posting.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I go, hey.
- 39:09SPEAKER_00: I go, most of my posts are celebrating you and your brother.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, that too.
- 39:12SPEAKER_00: She's because you're embarrassing.
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: I go, I know.
- 39:14SPEAKER_04: Well, perfect.
- 39:15SPEAKER_04: You're naming.
- 39:16SPEAKER_00: That's part of my win as well, right?
- 39:17SPEAKER_03: Like Colton will say, I need your I you need my permission before you.
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: I'm like, look at us having this conversation.
- 39:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's a win.
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: Sometimes you gotta get him trick him into talking to you.
- 39:29SPEAKER_04: Oh, I can't wait.
- 39:30SPEAKER_04: I can't wait for my son to be having these conversations with me.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: All right, so Cameron Park.
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: Cameron Park isn't is not the world's biggest town.
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: Um what are some of your favorite spots in Cameron Park?
- 39:41SPEAKER_00: My dad lives just up the road from you in Placerville.
- 39:43SPEAKER_03: So Oh, I love Placerville too.
- 39:44SPEAKER_00: So poor reds bakery.
- 39:46SPEAKER_00: Poor Reds and all that stuff.
- 39:48SPEAKER_00: Have you been to Shorty's Bakery?
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: I have not.
- 39:49SPEAKER_03: You have to go.
- 39:50SPEAKER_03: It's in Placerville.
- 39:50SPEAKER_03: It's in Placerville?
- 39:51SPEAKER_03: It's in Placerville.
- 39:52SPEAKER_03: Right off Broadway.
- 39:53SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: Next to the Rayleigh's.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 39:57SPEAKER_00: My dad worked at Rayleigh's for a long time.
- 39:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right there.
- 40:00SPEAKER_03: Um Mom and Pop Chicken Shop, owned by Milestone and Almighty.
- 40:04SPEAKER_03: They're great.
- 40:05SPEAKER_03: Where is that?
- 40:05SPEAKER_03: In Cameron Park.
- 40:06SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: Mom and Pop Chicken Stop.
- 40:09SPEAKER_03: Mom and Pop Chicken Shop.
- 40:10SPEAKER_00: Chicken Shop.
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: That's memorable.
- 40:13SPEAKER_03: That's a fun family.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: Like, go hang out.
- 40:15SPEAKER_03: You can watch football there.
- 40:17SPEAKER_03: The food's good.
- 40:18SPEAKER_03: Just for like really family style, fun environment.
- 40:22SPEAKER_03: And then um, Makasa is a great sleep-down sushi restaurant there.
- 40:26SPEAKER_03: Makasa.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: Makasa.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: It's Latin Asian infused.
- 40:30SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 40:31SPEAKER_03: Very cool.
- 40:31SPEAKER_04: I haven't heard of any of these places.
- 40:33SPEAKER_04: I'm like, Yeah.
- 40:34SPEAKER_00: See, this is why I'm not sure.
- 40:37SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 40:37SPEAKER_00: That's what's weird, but like I feel like even a moonraker.
- 40:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I drive.
- 40:45SPEAKER_03: She's been to Moonraker, though.
- 40:46SPEAKER_03: I have.
- 40:47SPEAKER_00: I mean, Moonraker is I love that place.
- 40:50SPEAKER_00: I've got it.
- 40:50SPEAKER_00: It's gotta be the gem of Cameron Park.
- 40:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, see, that's anybody else, but Moonraker did such a fantastic job.
- 40:55SPEAKER_00: They have such a fantastic beer.
- 40:57SPEAKER_00: They they absolutely knocked it out of the park.
- 40:59SPEAKER_04: They can drive our golf carts over there.
- 41:00SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 41:01SPEAKER_04: That's fun.
- 41:02SPEAKER_04: That's fun.
- 41:03SPEAKER_04: See, but I feel like that's what the outsider perspective is.
- 41:06SPEAKER_03: It's like Moonraker is the gem, but then you hear stuff like family community, getting in your golf cart and driving over with the neighbor to somebody list off all these places that are these hot spots.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, But it's really but it is also really neat to see that it's it's a it's it's kind of a tourist attraction, but it's also a local spot.
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: Like because of a lot of times, like the locals are like, oh, you ruined my local spot by making it this tourist attraction.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: They've done like again, I mean, kudos to them.
- 41:31SPEAKER_00: They've done a great job of welcome finding a way to welcome and accommodate both crowds.
- 41:36SPEAKER_04: That's true.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: Because there's nothing more for like especially me being from Hafoon Bay, like look, the nostalgia runs deep in Hafoon Bay.
- 41:42SPEAKER_00: We've got our little secret spots, and it's like, well, on Saturday, the line is two hours long for the San Benito Deli because social media told everybody how amazing it is.
- 41:51SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 41:54SPEAKER_04: It used to still be spread, but you would just read about it in the paper.
- 41:58SPEAKER_04: And now it's like the speed and speed.
- 42:06SPEAKER_00: You're screwed.
- 42:09SPEAKER_03: That's why for a restaurant, massive exposure, click on a button just like our listings, you know.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: Yep, yep.
- 42:17SPEAKER_00: Well, those reviews, I mean, people saying nice things about you works.
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: That's one thing with next door too is go and have all your reviews go to your past clients and send them your next door link, have them go and review you because also when someone googles your name, all of that comes out.
- 42:33SPEAKER_03: So if you Google me, it says Joel and your next door realtor, Cameron Park.
- 42:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you might as well fortify your presence in those spaces if you can, a hundred percent.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: We focus a lot on like Google reviews and Yelp reviews, and those are important.
- 42:45SPEAKER_03: But you should be on Nextdoor because they're looking for home inspectors, pest inspectors.
- 42:49SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 42:50SPEAKER_03: And then I go on to my companies and I make a review for them, and then it gets topped and gets shared.
- 42:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so contractors, they're all vendors.
- 42:58SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 42:59SPEAKER_04: That's smart.
- 42:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, everybody should be capitalizing it.
- 43:01SPEAKER_04: I the first time that Joel and told me about Nextdoor, I went on there and posted and I picked up a cash buyer.
- 43:09SPEAKER_00: What?
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: See?
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: One for one.
- 43:12SPEAKER_00: Literally one for one.
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: She's never been back to a little bit.
- 43:17SPEAKER_04: Not even more you would have percent success rate.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: What was the celebrate, recreate, yeah.
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: What celebrated?
- 43:25SPEAKER_03: What gets replicated gets sell what gets replicated gets celebrated.
- 43:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:29SPEAKER_03: It's yeah.
- 43:30SPEAKER_04: I I had actually put something in the house.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 43:33SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I think it's time again.
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: You got time to get someone in the house before Christmas.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: It's a priority.
- 43:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was pretty wild.
- 43:40SPEAKER_04: I did not expect that.
- 43:41SPEAKER_03: That's so cool.
- 43:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:42SPEAKER_04: They were moving here from um Las Vegas, actually.
- 43:45SPEAKER_03: How could you not be on there every day?
- 43:48SPEAKER_04: Great question.
- 43:49SPEAKER_04: I don't have a great response from that, honestly.
- 43:52SPEAKER_04: I have excuses.
- 43:54SPEAKER_04: You're not going to be on there every time.
- 43:59SPEAKER_04: I dishonor my leader, my sensei.
- 44:02SPEAKER_03: That's where I want to be too in 27, is I want to build a team.
- 44:05SPEAKER_03: I do have seven underneath me, but I really want to build a strong.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: Okay, so you do have a team already.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 44:09SPEAKER_03: Well, I mean, because at EXP, you know, we have downline.
- 44:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we have downline.
- 44:13SPEAKER_03: So I have a downline, I'm up line and downline.
- 44:15SPEAKER_03: Um, I have um a new lady that just joined me recently, another one.
- 44:19SPEAKER_03: That's working on a real estate license in Placerville, because I really don't have um anyone from our team up there except for now my um my sponsee.
- 44:30SPEAKER_03: Very cool.
- 44:30SPEAKER_04: It's yeah, I would say that's the biggest challenge.
- 44:33SPEAKER_04: Is like our all of our team is really focused in Placer County.
- 44:38SPEAKER_04: And so us that are on the 50 quarter, we're a little bit lonely sometimes.
- 44:43SPEAKER_03: I would love to build a team and you know have an office.
- 44:46SPEAKER_03: That's a goal.
- 44:47SPEAKER_04: I love that for you.
- 44:48SPEAKER_04: I think that's a very achievable.
- 44:49SPEAKER_03: Strong women, and then more of us can do more community work together, more events.
- 44:54unknown: Very cool.
- 44:54SPEAKER_04: I think there's like a recurring theme that hopefully people who are listening are catching on to, though, and that's that when you go to give selflessly to really help people, like you're doing, you're building your community, you're giving back to your community, you're building bridges in your community.
- 45:11SPEAKER_04: And it's not with this ulterior motive of oh, I I want to get listings and I want to get all this, because you know that it's just a natural consequence of what you're doing.
- 45:22SPEAKER_04: And that is what draws people to you because when they're talking to you, when they're bringing you purses and stuff, they don't feel like, oh God, you know, she's gonna immediately start talking to me about real estate.
- 45:32SPEAKER_04: But you let them approach you about it.
- 45:34SPEAKER_04: And in the interim, you're just being a really good community member.
- 45:38SPEAKER_00: Community member, connector to especially in a in a in such a challenged market where like I mean, it's easy to develop that commission breath, right?
- 45:48SPEAKER_00: Just like where you need, but but you know, I mean, hey, if you you need to sell something, you got bills to pay, you got a holiday season to fund.
- 45:54SPEAKER_03: Like you gotta do that work.
- 45:55SPEAKER_00: That's that's that's real.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: Um, but but you don't want to project that onto you know your your potential clients or your friends or your community, right?
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: Like so the way that you go about it is so it's so amazing.
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: It's it's it's a breath of fresh air.
- 46:07SPEAKER_04: It is.
- 46:08SPEAKER_03: It is a lot of fun.
- 46:10SPEAKER_03: We have our uh Casa toy drive um at Moonraker December 11th.
- 46:16SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 46:16SPEAKER_03: I'd bring your little boy.
- 46:17SPEAKER_03: I will.
- 46:17SPEAKER_03: I bring the Grinch, the Sin Cindy Louhu, and Santa.
- 46:21SPEAKER_03: Fun.
- 46:21SPEAKER_03: Nice.
- 46:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 46:22SPEAKER_03: And so we'll have pizza and drink.
- 46:23SPEAKER_04: And we do what is it, like an unwrapped toy.
- 46:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, an unwrapped toy.
- 46:26SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 46:27SPEAKER_03: Uh for a boy or girl.
- 46:28SPEAKER_03: And this is our fifth year.
- 46:29SPEAKER_04: Very cool.
- 46:30SPEAKER_03: And it's just growing and it's a good time.
- 46:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 46:33SPEAKER_04: Everybody loves to give back.
- 46:35SPEAKER_03: Everybody and that's the thing, the neighborhood loves it.
- 46:37SPEAKER_03: Like they always ask, like, where can I donate this?
- 46:40SPEAKER_03: Where can I do that?
- 46:41SPEAKER_03: You know, I do a puzzle drive, adopt a senior.
- 46:44SPEAKER_03: Uh, I started that last year.
- 46:46SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh, we had so many puzzles just piled up in my house and they wrapped them.
- 46:51SPEAKER_03: And then my husband and I went down to Sisted Living and we handed them out to all the residents.
- 46:55SPEAKER_00: So awesome.
- 46:55SPEAKER_00: My uh my aunt is dealing with dementia, and uh she was just up the other night, and uh one of the things that she does to kind of put everybody's mind at peace is she does word searches.
- 47:07SPEAKER_03: Word searches, yeah.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: So I was like, oh, and it was like, but it was cool because we don't get a chance to see her really focus on anything like that anymore.
- 47:15SPEAKER_00: And it's kind of getting, you know, it's evolving.
- 47:17SPEAKER_00: Um that's really evolving, and sorry, it's it's yeah, it's uh it's tough.
- 47:21SPEAKER_00: Um but it was it was cool because I like I did it caught myself kind of sitting back just watching her do a word search.
- 47:28SPEAKER_03: Does she live with you?
- 47:29SPEAKER_00: No, no, she actually still lives in Hafo Bay as well with my mom and my sister.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: Um they all live down there.
- 47:33SPEAKER_00: So they they came up for a volleyball game to watch and uh So it's cool.
- 47:37SPEAKER_00: My mom's my mom's the the the the care provider at this point.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: So we're getting close to probably having to take the next steps, but those are difficult conversations to have.
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:49SPEAKER_00: Especially with your parents, and you know, it's like because I have very strong opinions.
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:53SPEAKER_04: You no.
- 47:55SPEAKER_03: They're so it's they're so independent and they don't want you to take your dependence.
- 47:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:59SPEAKER_04: Well, and it's also the dynamic of when the kid is old enough to start having an opinion and be an adult to the parent.
- 48:06SPEAKER_04: That's a that's a hard dynamic to reverse those.
- 48:09SPEAKER_03: Very tough conversations to have that they need to be had.
- 48:11SPEAKER_03: But there are people out there that can help with those conversations too.
- 48:15SPEAKER_03: Like placement, senior placement, yeah, care managers.
- 48:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 48:19unknown: Okay.
- 48:20SPEAKER_00: There's so much information out there, and it can be just overwhelming.
- 48:23SPEAKER_00: I think that's been like the biggest challenge with my family.
- 48:25SPEAKER_00: I go, you know, it's like analysis paralysis.
- 48:28SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 48:28SPEAKER_00: How do you eat how do you eat an elephant?
- 48:30SPEAKER_00: Like one bite at a time.
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: Like stop.
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: Don't just stare at the magnitude of the situation.
- 48:35SPEAKER_00: Just Yeah.
- 48:36SPEAKER_00: What's the first next step?
- 48:37SPEAKER_00: Pick a piece, take it apart, pick an X piece.
- 48:40SPEAKER_00: And before you know it, you'll be well on your way.
- 48:43SPEAKER_04: And I think that's also a great analogy for anybody who's listening right now and trying to figure out what to do in their business.
- 48:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 48:50SPEAKER_00: Pick something.
- 48:50SPEAKER_04: Pick something and just run with it and focus on it.
- 48:55SPEAKER_04: Dive into it.
- 48:56SPEAKER_00: The the Keller ism, it's it's always been my favorite, Keller Williams ism.
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: The what you focus on expands.
- 49:01SPEAKER_00: You know, so focus on something good, focus on doing it well, and it will expand.
- 49:08SPEAKER_03: Or focus goes, focus flows, right?
- 49:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there we go.
- 49:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:11SPEAKER_03: Um, high energy, high money.
- 49:13SPEAKER_03: You know, money.
- 49:15SPEAKER_00: I better get my energy up.
- 49:16SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 49:17SPEAKER_00: Seriously.
- 49:18SPEAKER_00: Caffeine, baby.
- 49:19SPEAKER_04: Also, one of my favorites.
- 49:20SPEAKER_04: Money loves speed.
- 49:22SPEAKER_04: Money loves speed.
- 49:22SPEAKER_04: Don't sleep on it.
- 49:23SPEAKER_04: Don't take your time.
- 49:24SPEAKER_04: Like, follow up quickly and promptly and stay on top of it.
- 49:30SPEAKER_00: And I think one of the things I'm one of the things I'm focused on right now too is um is don't don't worry about like your your follow-up sounding perfect.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 49:41SPEAKER_00: Just do it.
- 49:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:42SPEAKER_04: Just do it.
- 49:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 49:43SPEAKER_04: It doesn't have to be perfect.
- 49:44SPEAKER_04: It's like nobody who's tracking, who's measuring that anyway?
- 49:48SPEAKER_04: Like, just show up.
- 49:49SPEAKER_04: Do it.
- 49:50SPEAKER_04: Follow up.
- 49:50SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 49:51SPEAKER_03: So I love all your videos.
- 49:53SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 49:54SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 49:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 49:55SPEAKER_04: I look at them sometime and I'm like, why am I doing this?
- 49:58SPEAKER_04: Like, what's what's even the point of this?
- 50:00SPEAKER_04: But then I get feedback.
- 50:00SPEAKER_04: What is my hand doing?
- 50:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:02SPEAKER_04: Oh my God.
- 50:02SPEAKER_04: Oh, I know.
- 50:03SPEAKER_04: Me too.
- 50:03SPEAKER_04: Seriously.
- 50:04SPEAKER_04: I actually just had my first uh my first influencer freebie, which was not expected, but um I had a a local shop that you guys will see when it's posted, reach out to me and ask if I would come feature their business and they're gonna barter with an exchange of goods.
- 50:23SPEAKER_04: And I was like, speaking my language, free food, hell yeah.
- 50:27SPEAKER_04: Like pastry, yeah.
- 50:30SPEAKER_04: Better, yeah, it is better.
- 50:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so you know, it works.
- 50:33SPEAKER_04: My community is recognizing me, and that's all that's all it is.
- 50:37SPEAKER_04: Brand awareness.
- 50:37SPEAKER_00: Brand awareness.
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: So I think we've kind of picked up on some of your passions, but do you have passions that are like separate from work that are kind of just yours?
- 50:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 50:47SPEAKER_03: So I love um traveling in our RV.
- 50:51SPEAKER_03: I love the mountains.
- 50:52SPEAKER_00: Umri, RV travel.
- 50:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we we've been lots of places.
- 50:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 50:57SPEAKER_03: Um, I think one of the questions that you asked too also was Napa versus Tahoe.
- 51:03SPEAKER_03: I'm from Napa.
- 51:04SPEAKER_00: That might have been a rapid fire question.
- 51:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:06SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's what I was gonna say.
- 51:08SPEAKER_00: That's all right.
- 51:08SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about it.
- 51:09SPEAKER_00: Let's jump in.
- 51:10SPEAKER_03: I'm from Napa.
- 51:11SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah, yeah, born and raised.
- 51:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so um, but Tahoe definitely for the mountains and the vibe, and Napa for the food.
- 51:19SPEAKER_03: Well, the food is tough.
- 51:20SPEAKER_04: The cuisine.
- 51:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 51:21SPEAKER_04: Napa food is Napa food is incredible.
- 51:24SPEAKER_04: Goodness.
- 51:25SPEAKER_04: Every time we talk about food, I get hungry on this podcast.
- 51:28SPEAKER_04: Makes me immediately want to leave here and go get something delicious.
- 51:31SPEAKER_04: Um, well, I feel like that's a great segue into our rapid fire.
- 51:35SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 51:36SPEAKER_04: Um, you've actually answered a lot of the questions that I would typically ask, so now I need to get creative.
- 51:41SPEAKER_04: Um, all right.
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: And you were gonna be nervous.
- 51:44SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 51:45SPEAKER_03: And I'm gonna tickle in my throat too, and I didn't get any water.
- 51:48SPEAKER_00: We need to get we need to get water.
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: We should, we should.
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: Where's our producer?
- 51:53SPEAKER_00: God, so sorry.
- 51:55SPEAKER_04: We're gonna fire him later.
- 51:56SPEAKER_04: Um excuse me, guys.
- 51:58SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 51:58SPEAKER_04: I didn't know about cold a while ago.
- 52:00SPEAKER_04: No, you're okay.
- 52:01SPEAKER_04: Do you want to take a sip of something?
- 52:02SPEAKER_04: Do you have a sip?
- 52:02SPEAKER_04: I didn't even bring the water, I didn't even think of it.
- 52:04SPEAKER_04: It's okay.
- 52:05SPEAKER_04: Okay, I'll take it easy on you.
- 52:07SPEAKER_04: You guys can't.
- 52:07SPEAKER_04: All right, uh, kings or river cats.
- 52:10SPEAKER_03: Oh, kings.
- 52:11SPEAKER_04: All right, lake or river.
- 52:13SPEAKER_04: Lake temple or Starbucks?
- 52:16SPEAKER_03: Temple.
- 52:18SPEAKER_04: Pizza or burger?
- 52:20SPEAKER_03: Pizza.
- 52:21SPEAKER_04: Favorite sushi spot?
- 52:24SPEAKER_03: Makasa and Cameron Park.
- 52:25SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 52:26SPEAKER_03: I was wondering if you're gonna go Makuni.
- 52:28SPEAKER_03: I love Makuni.
- 52:28SPEAKER_03: When I'm out here, it's Makuni.
- 52:30SPEAKER_03: So it's two Makuni and Makasa.
- 52:32SPEAKER_04: Okay, but I love that you went with a local favorite because all right, well.
- 52:35SPEAKER_00: Now, were you introduced to Makuni from like the one in Concord?
- 52:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 52:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:40SPEAKER_04: So you knew of it before you came up here.
- 52:42SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 52:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:43SPEAKER_03: So that was cool.
- 52:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:44SPEAKER_03: And then I gotta go find the original one.
- 52:46SPEAKER_03: So yeah, great restaurant, great family, great story.
- 52:51SPEAKER_00: Super cool.
- 52:51SPEAKER_04: Favorite season in Sacramento.
- 52:54SPEAKER_03: Favorite season?
- 52:55SPEAKER_04: Oh, Christmas.
- 52:57SPEAKER_04: Christmas season.
- 52:59SPEAKER_04: Okay, love that.
- 53:00SPEAKER_04: The 40s.
- 53:01SPEAKER_04: Fab 40s.
- 53:02SPEAKER_04: Oh, the Fab 40s.
- 53:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 53:03SPEAKER_04: Okay, where else do you go to look for lights?
- 53:06SPEAKER_03: Cameron Park.
- 53:07SPEAKER_03: Are there some great spots out there?
- 53:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 53:09SPEAKER_03: We also have a Santa that comes through and a parade through the neighborhood.
- 53:14SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 53:15SPEAKER_04: That's cute.
- 53:15SPEAKER_03: But we have great spots too.
- 53:17SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 53:18SPEAKER_04: I love that.
- 53:18SPEAKER_04: Do you are you guys a real tree or a fake tree kind of family?
- 53:22SPEAKER_03: Real tree.
- 53:23SPEAKER_04: Do you do a cut your own?
- 53:24SPEAKER_03: Oh, we haven't.
- 53:25SPEAKER_03: We were going to, but no.
- 53:28SPEAKER_00: We used to be exclusive, and I was gonna die on that hill, and I must have died 15 years ago.
- 53:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 53:33SPEAKER_00: My God, like when we got the fake tree, I was like, I'm never gonna have the smell of a fresh tree in my house again.
- 53:41SPEAKER_00: And I miss it so much.
- 53:42SPEAKER_00: But it's like when?
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: Like when?
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: When when the kids are out.
- 53:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, maybe comes up.
- 53:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:52SPEAKER_03: And then they're gonna say, no, bring the real tree.
- 53:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 53:55SPEAKER_04: Be like if you want to help pick it up.
- 53:57SPEAKER_04: Pick up all the microphones.
- 53:58SPEAKER_04: Um, okay, favorite camping spot.
- 54:00SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 54:03SPEAKER_03: That's a good one.
- 54:05SPEAKER_03: Bullard's Bar.
- 54:06SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 54:07SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 54:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Bullard's Bar.
- 54:09SPEAKER_04: I think a lot of people sleep on Bullard's Bar.
- 54:11SPEAKER_04: The lake is beautiful.
- 54:12SPEAKER_04: It's very beautiful.
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: It's the prettiest lake around.
- 54:15SPEAKER_00: We went there for the first time this year.
- 54:16SPEAKER_00: It was amazing.
- 54:17unknown: Yeah.
- 54:18SPEAKER_04: Have you ever done like the Yellowstone crazy fun drive-thru?
- 54:24SPEAKER_04: What is it?
- 54:24SPEAKER_03: Like with our RV.
- 54:26SPEAKER_03: Montana, Jackson.
- 54:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 54:29SPEAKER_03: That's we did that with our kids.
- 54:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 54:31SPEAKER_03: We went out there for our wedding in uh Bozeman.
- 54:33SPEAKER_03: Is it Bozeman?
- 54:35SPEAKER_03: And we went to Yellowstone and amazing.
- 54:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 54:39SPEAKER_03: Like I didn't get to see a wolf.
- 54:41SPEAKER_03: My co my husband's cousin saw a wolf and I think a bear.
- 54:45SPEAKER_03: But just the water and just being out there and the like the brisk air and the brisk fresh air.
- 54:50SPEAKER_00: I love Montana.
- 54:51SPEAKER_00: It's incredible.
- 54:52SPEAKER_03: It's so Montana's.
- 54:53SPEAKER_00: I mean you get a little bit of that brisk freshness up in Cameron Park too.
- 54:57SPEAKER_04: You guys get snow every once in a while, right?
- 54:59SPEAKER_03: No, but it's kind of like you'll get like a hail or just like Sacramento.
- 55:04SPEAKER_04: Or like a little bit of snow.
- 55:05SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 55:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, just a little bit, but nothing.
- 55:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Sly Park, you gotta get up a little higher.
- 55:10SPEAKER_00: Placerville will get it dumped.
- 55:12SPEAKER_04: I remember a couple years Sly Park got dumped on.
- 55:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 55:15SPEAKER_03: And it snowed a little bit, but you could see it on the ground, but nothing serious.
- 55:19SPEAKER_00: What was funny was when like when like Sly Park was getting snow, like I've never had so many requests for inspections and we're like, we can't do it, you guys.
- 55:28SPEAKER_00: Like that's and I'm sure that's why the call was coming.
- 55:31SPEAKER_00: The roots are buried.
- 55:33SPEAKER_00: I'm like, it's covered in snow.
- 55:35SPEAKER_00: What do you want to look at?
- 55:38SPEAKER_04: I'm curious what's actually gonna happen with El Nino this year.
- 55:42SPEAKER_04: Because I feel like every time they've ever been like, oh, Sacramento prepare for a wet one, it's like underwhelming, I would say.
- 55:50SPEAKER_04: Most of the time.
- 55:51SPEAKER_04: It's a rates, interest rates.
- 55:52SPEAKER_03: I'm just like, let's just see it happen and let's deal with it when I'm gonna do it.
- 55:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 55:56SPEAKER_03: I'll believe it when I see it.
- 55:57SPEAKER_03: Well if I see it.
- 55:58SPEAKER_03: I one person, one one thing about me that is I don't really like to look back and I don't like to look forward.
- 56:02SPEAKER_03: I like to just stay here because I think that's what creates anxiety and anxiousness and stress or maybe depression.
- 56:09SPEAKER_00: For sure.
- 56:10SPEAKER_03: You know?
- 56:11SPEAKER_03: So stay present.
- 56:12SPEAKER_03: Bring on El Nino.
- 56:13SPEAKER_00: That's why it's called the present, right?
- 56:14SPEAKER_00: It's a gift.
- 56:15SPEAKER_03: Didn't they come out with that margarita El Nino one time or something?
- 56:19SPEAKER_04: If it if it's a good one this year, I expect a lot of local establishments to have some El Nino themed.
- 56:25SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 56:26SPEAKER_04: Help me drown my sorrows while the world is drowning.
- 56:29SPEAKER_03: Um be prepared.
- 56:31SPEAKER_03: We just need to be prepared.
- 56:32SPEAKER_03: As long as we're prepared, then yeah.
- 56:34SPEAKER_04: I will say I've seen smud going around repairing a lot of telephone poles preemptively.
- 56:39SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you guys have seen that.
- 56:40SPEAKER_04: There's been a lot of pole replacements in Fair Oaks in the last couple of weeks.
- 56:43SPEAKER_03: And a lot of trees fall here, though.
- 56:45SPEAKER_03: That is sad.
- 56:45SPEAKER_03: I've seen a lot of trees fall here.
- 56:47SPEAKER_03: So yeah, I don't, I'm I don't know.
- 56:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 56:49SPEAKER_04: It's I mean, there's always casualties.
- 56:52SPEAKER_04: Like you can't avoid it.
- 56:53SPEAKER_04: We we are the city of trees.
- 56:55SPEAKER_04: And when you get wet soil and high winds, trees go down.
- 56:58SPEAKER_04: That's just it.
- 56:59SPEAKER_04: And Kimber Park too.
- 57:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 57:01SPEAKER_04: So I don't know.
- 57:02SPEAKER_04: But El Nino could be extreme weather.
- 57:04SPEAKER_04: It could also be dry.
- 57:06SPEAKER_04: It could be extremely dry as much as it is extremely wet.
- 57:09SPEAKER_04: So it's gonna be interesting to see what happens.
- 57:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, when's it supposed to start?
- 57:13SPEAKER_00: It started yesterday.
- 57:14SPEAKER_04: I'm like, is it that's a great question?
- 57:16SPEAKER_04: I don't think that they've actually now I know I'm in the middle of it.
- 57:19SPEAKER_04: I think it's like a sea the whole season.
- 57:21SPEAKER_04: The whole season, okay.
- 57:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 57:22SPEAKER_00: You know, I mean, you know, this area is usually the rain's usually not till like February, March.
- 57:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was kind of believed.
- 57:30SPEAKER_00: I would my guess would be if they're projecting a bad one, you probably maybe it starts a little earlier and runs a little longer or something like this.
- 57:36SPEAKER_04: I always like to gauge how great the season is by um how many um like ski resorts are open by Thanksgiving.
- 57:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 57:45SPEAKER_04: If they open before Thanksgiving, then we have a fairly good snowpack, but you know, it has to continue through the year.
- 57:51SPEAKER_04: So that's how I measure it.
- 57:52SPEAKER_03: And your pretty right now.
- 57:54SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 57:56SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 57:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I got I went on a room.
- 57:58SPEAKER_04: I don't normally get long nails, but I was inspired by this like little Halloween vampire look.
- 58:05SPEAKER_04: This is this is an audio.
- 58:06SPEAKER_00: This is an audio podcast.
- 58:07SPEAKER_00: Joel and referencing Kaylee's nails and just for the listeners.
- 58:12SPEAKER_04: We're in 2026 in California.
- 58:14SPEAKER_04: It could have been your nails, Dan.
- 58:16SPEAKER_00: Very well could have been, but it but it would not have been.
- 58:19SPEAKER_00: Sorry.
- 58:19SPEAKER_03: You'll have to ask his gen app or his gen avatar.
- 58:25SPEAKER_03: What's the color?
- 58:27SPEAKER_04: What length nails would I go with?
- 58:29SPEAKER_04: Oh my goodness.
- 58:30SPEAKER_00: Um we are we are we are we are losing a little focus here.
- 58:33SPEAKER_00: Sorry, sorry.
- 58:33SPEAKER_00: Let's let's but let's wrap it up.
- 58:34SPEAKER_00: It's been you know we're coming up on an hour, Joel, and we're super appreciative of your time and what we've got to do.
- 58:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you've had some great nuggets.
- 58:40SPEAKER_00: This is I mean, really honestly, this is going to be a great listen for whoever's on the other on the other end.
- 58:43SPEAKER_00: So I hope people do take away from it because we have talked about some really cool stuff and some really great ideas.
- 58:48SPEAKER_00: But the last thing we end with at every on every podcast for open the gate is if you could be someone for a day, who would it be, dead or alive, and what would you do?
- 58:59SPEAKER_03: Michelle Obama.
- 59:00SPEAKER_00: Michelle Obama.
- 59:01SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 59:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 59:02SPEAKER_03: I think she's just an empowering woman, overall amazing human.
- 59:08SPEAKER_03: I think uh things that she has done uh have not got a lot of attention, just her community that she's built and the work that she's done.
- 59:17SPEAKER_04: Um I just yeah, what would you do as Michelle Obama for the day?
- 59:22SPEAKER_03: I would probably hit up every school, every elementary school, and talk about leadership, you know, um give hugs like she did.
- 59:37SPEAKER_03: You know, just just tell them that, you know, to believe in themselves and if they find something that they really love to stick to it, you know, and whether it's art or language, science, just find something and you know, always believe.
- 59:53SPEAKER_03: I she's just such an amazing human.
- 59:55SPEAKER_00: We love it.
- 59:55SPEAKER_00: And you're gonna have to listen to Barack, you know, and all of his uh quirkiness and his ism.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_03: And he's funny.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_03: I think we have the same birthday.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_03: You and Barack Obama?
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_03: Uh-huh.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_03: There we go.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_03: Fun fact.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_03: And I think we're both we're both left-handed.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm a lefty.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_05: I got you.
