- 0:11hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:17These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:20world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:24hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:28This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And in this episode of The
- 0:43Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a hypnosis session
- 0:46created for a client that was going through a very difficult
- 0:51time where they were receiving fairly aggressive emails and
- 0:59difficult things that would quite often make them feel very
- 1:03reactive, feel emotionally overwhelmed, and that would lead
- 1:07to what they considered sometimes self-destructive
- 1:10behavior. What you're going to hear in
- 1:13this session is an element of disassociation from
- 1:17unresourceful States and then association into resourceful
- 1:22states. And the client didn't want to
- 1:24feel triggered and overwhelmed and stressed.
- 1:27They did want to feel prepared. They wanted to feel resilient.
- 1:32They wanted to feel calm and they wanted to feel stoic and
- 1:34pragmatic and that's what you're going to hear in this session.
- 1:38It was created for an individual.
- 1:40Some of the references won't relate to you or your situation,
- 1:43but I would encourage you when you listen to this, to think of
- 1:48where in your life do you feel triggered?
- 1:52And that might be triggered into anger or triggered into
- 1:57frustration or sadness even. And then when I go through these
- 2:02moments of thinking of a memory in the past where you were
- 2:05highly triggered, you get to think of your memory and then
- 2:08update it the way you would want it to be.
- 2:12The other thing is to think of someone in your life that if
- 2:15they were handling the same situation that triggers you,
- 2:19they wouldn't be triggered in the same way that you are.
- 2:22They would deal with it in a much more empowered way, and by
- 2:25thinking of that before the session starts again, you're
- 2:28going to get more out of this session.
- 2:31And if you do like the idea of working with me directly to have
- 2:34a session built for you, that's also possible.
- 2:36There is a link in the show notes where you can schedule a
- 2:39free consultation call over Zoom with me to explore if I'm the
- 2:42right hypnotherapist for you. For now though, find a quiet,
- 2:46comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 2:48Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 3:28you breathe in, breathe in that relaxation, and as you exhale,
- 3:33allow your eyelids to close. Bounce in, breathing in, a
- 3:39feeling of calm, relaxation and releasing tension in the outward
- 3:48breath. That's it.
- 3:54I want you to create the idea of a resourceful energy, like it's
- 4:02a bright light, perhaps a white light or a colourful light like
- 4:09yellow or orange. And as you breathe in, just
- 4:14imagine breathing in that bright light of resourcefulness.
- 4:23But as you exhale, just imagine you're releasing a grey or dark
- 4:30colour and allow this darkness to represent any emotions you've
- 4:38been holding onto. Annoyance, frustration, stress.
- 4:47Feel it leave your body in your outward breath, and you can
- 4:53think of just breathing in and breathing out like a
- 4:59transfusion. Imagine that bright, vibrant
- 5:04light going in through your nose into your lungs.
- 5:10And then imagine your heart distributing those powerful
- 5:14distilled resources to every cell in your body.
- 5:20And imagine anything that's not serving you leaving your body in
- 5:29the same way that you don't think about breathing in oxygen
- 5:34or exhaling carbon dioxide. It just happens.
- 5:41But the more of this resourceful relaxation you breathe in, the
- 5:47more relaxed you become. And the more relaxed you become,
- 5:53the deeper you breathe. So release any tension in your
- 5:59forehead, your jaw, your neck and shoulders, just releasing
- 6:05and relaxing, breathing in what you need, exhaling what you
- 6:11don't. But as your body relaxes, your
- 6:16imagination awakens. And I want you to imagine a
- 6:24nearby park with lots of open spaces, green fields, ancient
- 6:36trees. But in particular, I want you to
- 6:41think of bathing ponds. And I wonder if you could
- 6:48imagine these bathing ponds on a summer's day with no one else
- 6:55around. Imagine wearing whatever
- 6:59clothing is suitable to just enjoy these bathing ponds.
- 7:08I wonder if you could imagine starting to swim, perhaps
- 7:14breaststroke, in the water. The water isn't warm, but it's
- 7:20not cold. Perhaps it feels refreshing,
- 7:25invigorating, as you feel the rhythmic movement of your body
- 7:34gliding through the water. Notice your breathing also finds
- 7:41a rhythm that's in and notice there is no one else around.
- 7:51These bathing ponds out in nature feels grounding, taking
- 7:58away any negative energy and stress and giving you a
- 8:02wonderful feeling of vitality, energy and resourcefulness.
- 8:12That's it. I want you to feel that somehow
- 8:18the water is absorbing anything that is holding you back.
- 8:26Feelings of frustration, stress, even anger.
- 8:31Just feeling, leaving your body and just dissipating there into
- 8:38the water. But I want you to imagine these
- 8:42are no ordinary bathing ponds. Give them magical powers.
- 8:51Whatever resources would be most useful for you right now.
- 8:57Imagine somehow these resources are in the water.
- 9:04That may be resilience. Feel your body soaking up the
- 9:11resilience from within the water and absorbing it into you.
- 9:18Perhaps it's amplifying already inherent stoic ways of thinking
- 9:28to control all that you can and accept all that you can't.
- 9:36Feel yourself becoming more resilient, more stoic, more
- 9:42objective. Your eye is on your prize, and
- 9:48that is a desirable future. I want you to get a sense then.
- 9:56Right now, you may be in a dark tunnel, but you can see the
- 10:01light at the end and it may be the case that someone is hoping
- 10:10that you never see the end of that tunnel.
- 10:15But as you feel this determination, perspective,
- 10:20resilience but also optimism with every fibre of your being,
- 10:30you know it's just a matter of time until you have the quality
- 10:38of life perhaps you've been craving for months, if not
- 10:43years, Want you to use the power of your imagination to imagine a
- 10:52floating island there on these bathing ponds.
- 10:57Perhaps it's made of wood or something else.
- 11:03Imagine climbing up on this floating island and seeing the
- 11:06most comfortable reclining chair possible.
- 11:12Think of the material, think of the softness.
- 11:21Dry yourself down and place yourself in this comfortable
- 11:24chair on this floating island and to your surprise, you start
- 11:31to see a giant screen appear floating over the water.
- 11:41I want you to get a sense that this screen enables you to see
- 11:47the past and the future. But let's go to the past first.
- 11:55I want you to see on that screen the moment where you were highly
- 12:00triggered. Perhaps you had uncovered
- 12:04certain information, but I want you to be the observer.
- 12:09You're not in the memory. You're floating on a pond, on a
- 12:13comfy chair, looking up at a giant screen.
- 12:20You're just seeing the memory, not reliving the memory, and I
- 12:26want you to see it as it did happen, almost like it was
- 12:31filmed by a documentary film crew and you're just seeing what
- 12:36was filmed. You're in the memory, but you're
- 12:41observing the memory. And like any good movie or TV
- 12:47show, time isn't linear. You can jump forward, took place
- 12:56over days or weeks, can take place in minutes on a screen,
- 13:02but see yourself as you were, as it actually happened.
- 13:08See how you uncovered the information.
- 13:12See how you were emotionally affected, perhaps shaking or
- 13:19furious. See your emotional coping
- 13:23strategies after maybe drinking, maybe having to share this
- 13:30information with someone you trusted.
- 13:33See it all as it happened. But I want you to get the sense
- 13:39that just as you used to watch old movies on Avhs recorder, you
- 13:48could hit the rewind button when it gets to the end.
- 13:53Just imagine you've got that remote control in your hand and
- 13:56you hit the rewind button, so you see everything happening
- 14:02backwards and this almost seems to take the emotion out of the
- 14:10memory. And then when it gets to the
- 14:15beginning, I want you to see a different version of you.
- 14:24I want you to see the point where that version of you
- 14:27uncovers the same information, but see that version of you
- 14:32smiling almost with a knowing look on your face.
- 14:37Like, of course, see that version of you, unfazed,
- 14:45unbothered, not reacting, but equally knowing that they will
- 14:51do something with this information.
- 14:53And we used to see what then happens, how they communicate or
- 15:03what they do. But this is a version of you
- 15:07that is in control, decisive and responsive, but not reactive.
- 15:18I want you to see that version of you not getting angry or
- 15:22stressed or furious or anything other than pragmatic.
- 15:30You are seeing you relive that memory in a stoic, pragmatic
- 15:38way, dealing with it the way you would have loved to deal with it
- 15:44if you could. Go back in time and do it,
- 15:48knowing what you now know. And notice how a chain reaction
- 15:56takes a different course. No need for drinking alcohol, no
- 16:02need for intrusive thoughts or low self worth.
- 16:07Because that version of you makes the evaluation, Then This
- 16:12is about the decisions of someone else, that your value is
- 16:17not linked to the standards, behaviour or choices of someone
- 16:24else. And when you've seen that memory
- 16:28the way you would like it to be, let me know about nodding your
- 16:31head. Get a sense that a seed has been
- 16:37planted deep in your subconscious mind, that a
- 16:42crisis, a betrayal, an attempt to trigger you doesn't mean that
- 16:49it will. I want you to go forwards in
- 16:53time and locate a recent memory where perhaps an e-mail calls
- 17:02used to do something that you now consider to be
- 17:06self-destructive. Don't relive the memory.
- 17:10Remember, you're in a comfy chair on a floating island, on a
- 17:18bathing pond where no one else is but you.
- 17:22So see yourself opening up a laptop, reading an e-mail, see
- 17:30yourself smiling. You can almost read your inner
- 17:34dialogue. Maybe it says something like
- 17:38nice try, of course, maybe it's even a little giggle and you're
- 17:47in a dialogue and you can just imagine hearing that even though
- 17:51you're observing it. I want you to see that version
- 17:57of you close the laptop and go off and do exactly what you were
- 18:04going to do anyway, knowing that your resources exceeds any of
- 18:11these demands. They want to trigger you, and
- 18:17therefore to be triggered is playing their game.
- 18:22But see a version of you that is playing your game.
- 18:28Maybe that's a game of ambivalence, of empowerment.
- 18:35But if it's an attempt to the war of attrition, see yourself
- 18:39as being unbreakable, that you can play this game as long as
- 18:46you need to, even if you don't want to, that's it.
- 18:51And maybe see yourself handling lots of situations like that.
- 18:59It almost feels like if the cable from a light switch to the
- 19:04light is cut, someone can attempt to press that button,
- 19:09but the light will never switch on and we need to get a sense
- 19:14then this version of you has cut the link between information and
- 19:24frustration or annoyance or stress or anger.
- 19:31It seems to be rewired to a level of pragmatic empowerment,
- 19:41a stoic level of I'll deal with this on my terms.
- 19:48In fact, the more they attempt to trigger you, the more stoic,
- 19:53empowered, perhaps even playful you become, knowing that it wins
- 20:02in two different ways. You feel better about what's
- 20:07happening and they feel more frustrated.
- 20:12That their attempt to coerce you to break you is simply building
- 20:20you up. Perhaps you have a flashback of
- 20:25an old children's movie. There's always that one scene
- 20:32where the energy attempting to destroy ends up charging up the
- 20:39hero or the villain to make them even stronger.
- 20:44What if their attempt to break you emboldens you, increases
- 20:50your mental fortitude, makes you more resilient?
- 20:56I want you to get a sense. Then there is a different path.
- 21:02Find yourself there, back on that chair and and feeling
- 21:06comfortable and then see someone you admire in a crisis and
- 21:15perhaps you can see them at a point where they were dealing
- 21:20with something complex, difficult, something that would
- 21:28really challenge and trigger the average person.
- 21:30But see them dealing with it in a way.
- 21:35But they seem to be objective. They evaluated all the
- 21:41information, but almost like an exceptional general, perhaps had
- 21:48a feeling that running into battle would be the worst thing
- 21:53to do. Instead, they evaluated all of
- 21:58their options, incubated those ideas, and then were decisive
- 22:07when they wanted to be decisive. I want you to see that version
- 22:14of them that you admire, and then imagine stepping into the
- 22:20screen feeling resourceful in the way that they are
- 22:26resourceful. Harness that objectivity, that
- 22:32perspective, the ability not to be triggered or reactive, but to
- 22:39be able to gather the information and respond in your
- 22:46terms. I want you to feel that resource
- 22:53in your body somewhere. Maybe it's in your heart, your
- 23:00head, or somewhere else, and just point to where you feel
- 23:05that. Yeah.
- 23:07And then imagine a three-dimensional object in that
- 23:10place, could be a cube, a pyramid or something else.
- 23:15Give it a colour, notice if it moves, and if it does, make it
- 23:21move faster in that same direction.
- 23:23Maybe it's pulsating or spinning.
- 23:27Whatever colour you give it, amplify that colour until it
- 23:30grows, grows and glows until you feel that feeling of
- 23:37resourcefulness even more intently.
- 23:42Consider this a superpower. Many people find themselves in
- 23:47awful predicaments because they are triggered and react.
- 23:53I want you to get a sense that this is the ability to respond
- 23:58on your terms, and your terms could be your time frames in
- 24:05your way. I want you to get a sense that
- 24:09this is linked to feelings of infinite resourcefulness,
- 24:14powerful resilience. This version of you doesn't need
- 24:20anything to cope. This version of you almost has a
- 24:27bring it on attitude. Is this the best you can do?
- 24:32It almost feels like it's too easy for you to handle these
- 24:36things. So take that feeling, return
- 24:41back to the chair and then imagine seeing yourself on that
- 24:45large screen floating over the pond a day from now, a week from
- 24:51now, where you get perhaps a very aggressive or unfair e-mail
- 25:00to see yourself on the screen with that glowing colour there
- 25:05in that location. This time it feels like you're
- 25:10harnessing the power of you at your most resourceful.
- 25:17Maybe see yourself knowing that this is the future, receiving
- 25:22some information. It could be a long letter by
- 25:26e-mail that could be hearing information that's been said
- 25:31about you that just isn't true. But instead of seeing yourself
- 25:36triggered or bothered or annoyed, see yourself calm,
- 25:43perhaps even smiling. See yourself with skin so thick
- 25:51you feel more resilient than a rhinoceros.
- 25:53You are impenetrable to be triggered.
- 25:59I want you to get a sense that you're observing the future
- 26:03version of you, handling whatever the event is in a
- 26:09responsive, elegant, calm way. When you see the future version
- 26:16of you dealing with it in the way you would like to deal with
- 26:19it, let me know by nodding your head, rewind it, and then step
- 26:26into the screen. Now imagine whatever's happening
- 26:31is happening to you like it's happening in the present.
- 26:35Maybe you're reading an e-mail, Maybe you're hearing something.
- 26:39But now feel how you would feel if the same thing happened and
- 26:44you were unfazed. Unflappable.
- 26:49The very opposite of being triggered.
- 26:52Maybe you feel I can handle this.
- 26:58You get a sense that each of these events still means you're
- 27:03getting closer to the light at the end of that tunnel.
- 27:08If it's a war of attrition they want and you feel unbreakable,
- 27:13then it can only go the way you want it to go.
- 27:19If it feels like you can really handle this with no desire to do
- 27:24anything destructive, anything linked to self pity, this is a
- 27:30confident, calm, stoic version of you.
- 27:33If it feels that your resources exceed this demand, let me know
- 27:38by nodding your head that's in and get a sense then this is now
- 27:46your default. The more they try and trigger
- 27:50you, the more resourceful you become.
- 27:54And if there are any moments that catch you off guard, that
- 27:58would just be like boot camp, like training.
- 28:03Your brain will learn how to handle the same situation in a
- 28:08more empowered way. The next time something similar
- 28:13happens. You either win or you learn.
- 28:17There is no going backwards. Allow yourself to be back there
- 28:24on that chair on the floating pond and just decide it's time
- 28:29to swim back to those open spaces.
- 28:34But you feel a reinvigorated, refreshed version of you has
- 28:40returned. Something with more left in the
- 28:45tank that you can handle whatever life throws at you as
- 28:52you return. Feel like you're returning to
- 28:55the here and now, taking all of these resources, strategies, and
- 28:59ideas back with you. Feeling like you have an edge.
- 29:04That if the same things that bothered you before now happen,
- 29:09you can handle it in the way you decide.
- 29:15So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 29:19nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 29:21wiggle your toes. Start to calibrate the here and
- 29:23now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 29:29Starting to count 123 Waking up 456.
- 29:33More alert 7-8 Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910.
- 29:38Wide awake, Wide awake. Wide awake.
