- 0:01The more time passes, the more we learn about the condition of
- 0:05Nick Reimer, right? Why do I always say Reimer?
- 0:08Reiner. I know why I say Reimer because
- 0:12I have friends in high school. Last.
- 0:13Well, elementary school, middle school, high school.
- 0:17OK, take two. We're going to cut this out.
- 0:18Everybody take 2. The more time passes, the more
- 0:23we learn about how dangerous the situation was with Nick Reiner,
- 0:29with the change of his medication, with all of the
- 0:33mental health crises that he'd been going through, with the
- 0:36addictions. And I think it was just a
- 0:39perfect storm. And of course, it's very easy to
- 0:41say in hindsight because we have two people who are dead.
- 0:45We're going to talk about it. We're going to do our very best
- 0:48to temper our speculation with compassion, with humanity.
- 0:53So let's get into it. This video contains mature
- 1:08themes and discussions intended only for adult audiences.
- 1:12Viewer discretion is advised. Well, hello there, my friend,
- 1:18and welcome back to another true crime conversation with me,
- 1:21Gavin Fish. Thank you very much for joining
- 1:24me. Wherever you're joining me from,
- 1:27I deeply appreciate it and I love it when you tell me where
- 1:30you are in the chat. So definitely don't forget that.
- 1:34If you're in the live chat, do it.
- 1:36If you're in the re watch crew, do it.
- 1:37If you're on the podcast, do it. I want to know where you're
- 1:40tuning in from. I don't know.
- 1:44I just the world is sometimes a big place, sometimes a small
- 1:48place, and right now it's a small place.
- 1:49We're all coming together from all over the place to talk about
- 1:52what what are we here to talk about?
- 1:54We are talking about the case of the murder.
- 1:57Well perhaps Gavin if you are to start the OBS camera.
- 2:02There we go. The murder of Hollywood legend
- 2:07and icon Rob Reiner an equally important, though probably not
- 2:14as well known to most of us his wife Michelle Singer Reiner that
- 2:17produced the photographer. These two folks met there in
- 2:25last last month and their son Nick has been charged in their
- 2:31murder. Now we've learned a lot over the
- 2:35course of the last almost just over a month.
- 2:40The Rhiners were killed by Sharp Force instrument on December
- 2:4714th, if memory serves, of 2025. Now the I guess the main thing
- 2:58that that has caught me this week and we haven't talked.
- 3:03I mean, we have we have talked about this, this case in
- 3:06headlines, but we haven't done a full video about this case in
- 3:09quite a while. And so I'm playing catch up.
- 3:13And you you'll notice with me that I'm really not the guy who
- 3:18breaks news, right. I'm not, I'm not the breaking
- 3:21news guy. I'm not the guy who's right on
- 3:23top of things. This stuff came out a couple of
- 3:25days ago, but it's important nonetheless and I definitely
- 3:28want to talk about it. Let's see as a recap, as I guess
- 3:36is it, I don't know. I don't know if this we all know
- 3:41the case that we're talking about, but Nick, their son, had
- 3:46been suffering from substance addiction since he was a
- 3:52teenager. And the Reiners had tried all
- 3:58sorts of different things, including, you know, checking
- 4:02him into outpatient facilities, checking him into swanky
- 4:09facilities, trying to reason with him, just trying to be good
- 4:13parents with him. And it sometimes worked.
- 4:17And then, then he would fall off the wagon as as many.
- 4:22In fact, I think it'd probably be easy to say most addicts do
- 4:26because it's it's a hard thing to kick addiction, man.
- 4:29It's a very, very hard thing to kick addiction.
- 4:31But add into that that he also suffered from from other mental
- 4:40health crises. In fact, we learned this week
- 4:43that he was in a conservatorship starting in 2020 for his own
- 4:48well-being. So yeah, this kid struggled.
- 4:52Well, he's a young man. What?
- 4:54I'm not, I shouldn't be calling him a kid.
- 4:56I'm not doing that to deminuize, deminuate to diminuify What?
- 5:02You guys know what I mean? The person just but from the
- 5:08time he was a kid, the Reiners tried and tried and tried and
- 5:13tried. And I'm sure many of you who are
- 5:17watching right now can empathize with the struggle that the
- 5:22Rhiners had raising this young man.
- 5:30I can't even imagine. I remember in our three question
- 5:33segment yesterday, you guys asked me if I had ever had to do
- 5:37tough love with my with my adult children.
- 5:40And I never have. And it's I think that that is
- 5:43probably, well, it's a blessing. I'm probably in the minority,
- 5:50right? And knock on wood, it doesn't
- 5:53have it might have to have to happen eventually, but the
- 5:57Rhiners had tried all sorts of stuff here.
- 6:00Now, I want to show you guys a video that came out a couple
- 6:05days ago. It's from TMZ.
- 6:07Now, before you go, Gavin, it's TMZ.
- 6:09Yeah, I know. I know.
- 6:11It's kind of gossip. I know.
- 6:12It's totally a gossip publication.
- 6:14I get it. It's a celebrity in a gossip
- 6:16publication. But when they're right, they're
- 6:18right and I think they got something right.
- 6:22And I definitely want to talk about it with you.
- 6:24Before we do, let's just check in on the comments just to see
- 6:30where you guys are tuning in from.
- 6:33We have got let's see if we can get get the system to work here.
- 6:38There we go. St.
- 6:39Augustine, FL is with us. Ohio, Virginia.
- 6:43Pauline likes my shirt. I like this shirt too.
- 6:45Now I it like all of my clothing right now is way too big for me.
- 6:51When I first started wearing this shirt on the channel, it
- 6:54was tight. Fact.
- 6:55It's made from a stretchy material.
- 6:58It was tight and stretchy. These days it's pretty loose,
- 7:02but thank you very much, I like it.
- 7:04North Carolina is here coming in from whales, carrots and other
- 7:07veggies. Austin, TX.
- 7:10Thank you so much. New Hampshire, South Lake Tahoe,
- 7:15kind of the area from where I was reared.
- 7:19Las Vegas, NV, Northern Nevada, central IN Fort Wayne, IN
- 7:23Ontario, foothills of North Carolina, Oregon, Florida and
- 7:27you're freezing and you're not going to get too many tears shed
- 7:30on your behalf from me. Central Texas, Southern New
- 7:34Mexico, New Bedford, MA Hot Springs, AR Calabasas, que pasa
- 7:40calabasa que mas que tenemos. Just want to make sure that I've
- 7:47got everybody. San Jose is in the House of
- 7:50Virginia, San Jose, Pittsburgh, Roselle, IL Vancouver.
- 7:57Yeah. Thanks, guys.
- 7:58A couple of early comments I saw as I was going through here,
- 8:02Susie Savage says, Gavin, I absolutely adore how you speak
- 8:06on cases so full of warmth and understanding, which is so often
- 8:09lacking in the trigram space. Thank you.
- 8:11I appreciate the compliment. I try on this channel to learn
- 8:15something every time we look into a case or look into a facet
- 8:20of a case, cause many of these are multifaceted.
- 8:22They're like cushion cut diamonds, man.
- 8:26So, yeah, I, I, I try to learn something every, every single
- 8:30time. And I don't necessarily try to
- 8:33teach anything because I don't know that I'm qualified for
- 8:36that, but but I definitely try to learn from these cases.
- 8:39Mommy of 394 says he's been troubled for so long.
- 8:43Such a sad case. Sometimes you can do everything
- 8:46and you can still fail. That's true.
- 8:49That's true, Miss Chivos, Dragon says.
- 8:55I think, Jim, I think Nick jumped off the wagon because he
- 8:59thought that's where his true self was.
- 9:00My take from Dopey podcast yeah, I, I, I want to say this with
- 9:09compassion, but also holding accountable person who should be
- 9:14held accountable. Kicking addiction is a very
- 9:18difficult thing. Very, very difficult.
- 9:22And sometimes now I know in Nick Reiner's case, it was kind of a
- 9:28kind of a rebellion thing. He's talked about it on
- 9:31different podcasts. And yeah, he's he said that that
- 9:35it was kind of a kind of a rebellion thing.
- 9:38But I also know of people that get that have gotten hooked from
- 9:43a prescription medication or from just one stupid decision as
- 9:48a teenager at a party or something like that.
- 9:50So it's very, very difficult to kick the addiction.
- 9:56However, that's not an excuse for definitely not an excuse for
- 10:00murder, right? Yeah, just the the case is just
- 10:08sad all the way around. And like I said, we're going to
- 10:10try to just stay compassionate, stay human in our coverage here,
- 10:14though we are going to be heading over to a TMZ video,
- 10:19which admittedly is gossipy, but I still think it's worth the
- 10:25look. See, because when you hear
- 10:28truth, it's truth sometimes, sometimes the source isn't isn't
- 10:32the perfect source. And I don't, I feel like I'm
- 10:34putting down TMC. They do, they do pretty good
- 10:36work. It's just a very gossipy place
- 10:38and that's how it's designed. But anyway, this is from the
- 10:4312th. So four days from four days ago,
- 10:48from the time that we're making this video, it is about it's
- 10:52almost 8 minutes long. It features the TMZ crew plus
- 10:56doctor Drew. We're going to have a look see
- 11:01right now. Let me make sure that my audio I
- 11:04I, I tried bumping up the audio. Well, no on TMZI had to bump
- 11:07down the audio. It was it was blaring, but maybe
- 11:10check your headphones real quick before I started in 3/2 here we
- 11:15go. Come to TMZ Live.
- 11:17So we had our documentary air Friday night on Fox News on Hulu
- 11:23right now about Nick Reiner and we.
- 11:27I started watching this documentary on Hulu, by the way,
- 11:31but I couldn't I I it just doesn't seem like a documentary.
- 11:35It seems like a gossip column put to video with with dramatic
- 11:39music behind it. So it didn't feel all.
- 11:42I don't think that they're going to be getting any best
- 11:46documentary awards for it. I I couldn't last five minutes.
- 11:51But anyway, let's continue. Told you on TMZ Live last week
- 11:56that the thing that may have taken him into this fatal spiral
- 12:02was that they changed his meds for a mental condition called
- 12:07schizoaffective disorder. They changed it about a month
- 12:11before. Rob and Michelle were killed,
- 12:14and now we know. And there are, there are lots of
- 12:17different media outlets that are reporting this, but I think TMZ
- 12:20was the first one to report it. And I think some, well, a lot of
- 12:26the outlets really just kind of attributed or sourced TMZ for
- 12:29that. But I have seen articles in the
- 12:33LA Times. Let's see, I I remember
- 12:38specifically the LA Times, I think maybe the New York Times
- 12:41as well that have confirmed that with other sources.
- 12:44Why they changed this had been the big mystery and the reason
- 12:49that they changed it, Well, we unlocked this pretty late last
- 12:54week, right before the documentary went to air.
- 12:58And we got to thank one person in particular we got to thank
- 13:02for helping us unlock this. And that would be Doctor Drew.
- 13:05We had a conversation with him last week about this and when we
- 13:10didn't know what it was. He gave us, he gave us a couple
- 13:13of fear of typical side effects, sexual dysfunction and weight
- 13:18gain, and we went back to our various sources and we were able
- 13:24to confirm that it was indeed weight gain that Nick Reiner
- 13:28apparently had complained that he had gained weight, which he
- 13:32had by being on these drugs. Doctors are common.
- 13:36So let me just pause on this for a second.
- 13:40What they just said, you heard it.
- 13:42I don't know why I have to repeat this, but just so that
- 13:44we're on the same page that the medication that he had for his
- 13:48schizoaffective disorder, we've heard two different things.
- 13:51Schizophrenia, we've heard schizoaffective disorder.
- 13:54I think most, most reporters are landing on schizoaffective
- 13:58disorder. And honestly, I don't even know
- 14:01the difference between the two. Oh, yeah, they, they seem so
- 14:06similar to me. But the side effects to the
- 14:12drugs that he was taking, the known and common side effects
- 14:15are sexual dysfunction and weight gain.
- 14:18And according to TMZ sources, anyway, Nick Reiner was
- 14:25experiencing weight gain and didn't like that and so was
- 14:30working with his physicians to, to change his, his medication.
- 14:38Now they're going to get into this.
- 14:40So I probably shouldn't, I shouldn't, you know, foreshadow
- 14:44this or put the cart before the horse or whatever metaphor you
- 14:47want to say. I, I just don't think that Nick
- 14:52was clean from illicit drug use. I, what do I base that on?
- 15:00I don't have any, I don't know this, this is just my gut
- 15:06telling you this and I don't have any qualifications to, to,
- 15:11to do this. It's just what I think.
- 15:14I don't think that he was off of illicit drugs.
- 15:17And again, I don't blame him. It is so hard.
- 15:22It is so hard to kick them, man. So, so, so hard.
- 15:27But if your doctor doesn't know that you are also, you know,
- 15:33doing math or doing other opioids or doing other illicit
- 15:37or hard drugs, I don't know that anything that they did was going
- 15:42to help him avoid what eventually police say he did.
- 15:49So yeah, let. Let's continue.
- 15:52Dated him, changed the meds and he went out of his head.
- 15:57Right, so I, I now I have now that we know what it is, we have
- 16:01a few more questions. So joining us once again, Doctor
- 16:04Drew, welcome back to TMZ Live, Girl.
- 16:06It's good to see you guys, Harvey.
- 16:08So we now know that weight gain was the reason for the change.
- 16:15The meds that they put him on sent him into a terrible spiral.
- 16:20So given that it's one of the normal side effects to this,
- 16:25what should doctors have done? Should they have said, OK, we'll
- 16:30try something or you're stable on the meds you're taking,
- 16:33you're going to have to deal with it?
- 16:35That's an interesting question. And again, it kind of feels
- 16:38like, hey, let's find a doctor to blame here.
- 16:42But I still think it's a valid question, right?
- 16:44That, I mean, they changed his meds.
- 16:48He reportedly went coconuts. Let's see what Doctor Drew has
- 16:53to say. Well, fascinating question.
- 16:55Obviously, in retrospect it was a bad choice, right?
- 16:57That's a very easy position for us to take now, but at the time
- 17:02it is completely legitimate. You can't allow our medication
- 17:07to ruins a person's life, either their health, their physical
- 17:12health because they're becoming obese, or their interpersonal
- 17:15lives because they have severe sexual dysfunction from the
- 17:18medicine. And they'll stop them on their
- 17:19own oftentimes because of these side effects.
- 17:22And that's often how people end up out on the street.
- 17:24But here's what's interesting. This is the part you've not
- 17:27brought up yet. I've been speaking to some just
- 17:30coincidentally I had to I was talking with a a young
- 17:33psychiatrist just out of training and he said, you know,
- 17:36we are adding GLP ones in almost immediately with some of these
- 17:40medicines to try to prevent this weight gain we.
- 17:42Talked about that this morning. About whether or not that was
- 17:45going to be the next question, whether that's something that
- 17:48you can take at the same time without others.
- 17:52Yeah. I wonder if the weight gain is
- 17:54simply that it creates an appetite, that these medications
- 17:58create an appetite because GL1S, as I understand are are designed
- 18:04to suppress appetite. They're very interesting.
- 18:07Side effects. You, you can't well, as far as
- 18:09we again, that whole story has yet to be told.
- 18:11Trust with their side effects there that will be publicly
- 18:14known soon. But yes, you there's nothing
- 18:16special about the setting of these psychiatric medications
- 18:19and it does work and it should be contemplated.
- 18:23And again, I'll remind you it was a younger psychiatrist that
- 18:27told me this guys my age may not think about that.
- 18:29Huh. That is fascinating because we
- 18:32talked about that this morning, right about that and we thought
- 18:34it might get in the way of the efficacy of the cocktail.
- 18:37Apparently not. I have no direct experience with
- 18:39that. That's why we were talking about
- 18:41it because I was. There's certain meds you can,
- 18:43almost all of them can cause weight gain.
- 18:45Let's face it, but some really 'cause weight gain and it's
- 18:48dangerous, it's not OK and we have to make it.
- 18:51We have to do better. And the GLP ones are.
- 18:54That is a perfect setting for it if it's going to work.
- 18:57In other words, we have a serious medical illness, Skiso,
- 19:00affective disorder. We have medicine that it could
- 19:02potentially precipitate another serious medical problem,
- 19:05obesity, diabetes, God knows what.
- 19:07And then you have the risk the GLP ones which are well worth
- 19:11taking in that setting. Yeah, so very interesting the
- 19:14the Doctor Drew's position, as I understand it is that no, the
- 19:19the doctors changing his medication because of weight
- 19:24gain is a valid reason to make that change.
- 19:29I wonder, I wonder the the balancing act the doctors must
- 19:33feel on that though. And I don't think that.
- 19:36I mean, I don't think that the doctors knew.
- 19:40And I don't know, I just strongly suspect that Nick was
- 19:46continuing his illicit drug habit.
- 19:48That's my suspicion. I think Doctor Drew, when a lot
- 19:51of people heard this, this revelation that we found out
- 19:54that it was about weight gain behind the changing of the
- 19:57medications. I think for the average person,
- 20:00they think. Well, that's a vain A vain
- 20:03choice. Like if you have to weigh the
- 20:05two things that are more important, the weight gain or
- 20:08being stable mentally, that why don't the doctors say, we
- 20:13understand you're uncomfortable with the weight gain and we'll
- 20:16address that. But right now we need to get the
- 20:20the mental health side of this under control.
- 20:23And I. Would.
- 20:24Yeah, Charles, your point is well taken.
- 20:26And I would just say historically that's what we did.
- 20:29We would just say, oh, you suck it up, you know, which is
- 20:31really. Wrong.
- 20:32It's just not. Right.
- 20:33And we can do better and we should do better.
- 20:36And what we end up doing, I, I'm usually it's the combo of sexual
- 20:40dysfunction and weight gain that really patients go, no, I, you
- 20:43have to change this. And, and we're, we're
- 20:46sympathetic. We don't want to make them
- 20:48miserable. And usually there are ways to
- 20:50navigate that. Usually you can find something
- 20:53it's it's really again the kind of violence that was on display
- 20:58here to me still reads methamphetamine.
- 21:00I keep saying that over and over again.
- 21:03It's not enough to have decompensated skiso effective
- 21:07the level of the violence and when he was.
- 21:11This part is really important. Listen to this.
- 21:14Picked up. It's worth trying to understand
- 21:17what part of town was he in? What was he doing there?
- 21:19You know, was he near? Was he near MacArthur Park?
- 21:22It was. It was a drug den.
- 21:24It was a it was a drug den. Guess what?
- 21:27That didn't start that night, That didn't start that.
- 21:30That's probably he needed more and he went to get more.
- 21:33Probably. I don't have any direct
- 21:34knowledge of this, but it just it's methamphetamine is the drug
- 21:37of violence. Bang right there.
- 21:40OK, now this seems intuitively true, but I hadn't actually
- 21:48heard that before. Methamphetamine is the drug of
- 21:51violence. So I did a little bit of
- 21:53research we're going to get into and it's not going to be deep
- 21:57research guys, OK. And it's not like I'm I'm an
- 22:00addiction specialist nor a researcher.
- 22:03But let's but we will get into just a little bit about this
- 22:09whole idea that does methamphetamine cause a person
- 22:15to be more violent? And Doctor Drew here is like,
- 22:18look at where he was picked up and the, the, the violent nature
- 22:23of the murder screams methamphetamine to A, to an MD
- 22:29that specializes in addiction. So we're we're going to get into
- 22:34that here in just a bit. And if you have a schizo
- 22:35effective on top of that, the violence can be extreme.
- 22:38Well and he had used meth in the past so a lot of people are
- 22:42commenting. And he had said publicly that
- 22:45he'd use methamphetamine. Wondering when he starts
- 22:48spiraling, why didn't doctors put him back on the meds that
- 22:52kept him stable? We we need more information to
- 22:55understand what happened there. We don't know, right?
- 22:58It could be 1,000,000 reasons. He could have not, He could have
- 23:00refused to see the doctors. He could have refused to follow
- 23:02the doctor's direction. He could have been out on drugs
- 23:05and the doctors were saying, hey, you got to go in.
- 23:07We got to deal with this first. I, there's, there's literally
- 23:10100 things I can think of that could have been going on there.
- 23:13So that story will have to be told.
- 23:15I don't even want to speculate. There's so many possibilities.
- 23:17But is it common or something that happens sometimes that
- 23:22where patients, if the patient isn't forward because they're
- 23:26not under 24 hour care, they're not being watched all the time.
- 23:30If the patient doesn't share how they're feeling or these changes
- 23:35sometimes I would imagine it's hard for doctors to know.
- 23:37Well, especially when you want to keep doing drugs if you're if
- 23:40you're a drug addict, the our job is to see through all the
- 23:42lies and obfuscation and try to figure it out.
- 23:45But yeah. And again, I brought this up
- 23:48last time we had this conversation, The state of
- 23:50California does not give us many options.
- 23:52It really doesn't. We are, We are patients are at
- 23:56their liberty to get sick and we we privilege psychiatric illness
- 24:02that if a dementing illness caused the exact same symptoms,
- 24:06we're obliged to treat with the symptoms from a psychiatric
- 24:09illness. Same symptoms, disorganization,
- 24:11delusions, out of the street without your clothes on,
- 24:13Whatever it is well that you don't cut, you can't touch.
- 24:16That's interesting. I I don't, I want to know more
- 24:19about that specific to the state of California.
- 24:25Like what is what does he mean like that?
- 24:27What does he mean about that? I I'd like to know more.
- 24:30You can't touch. Yeah, it's interesting too,
- 24:32because we're told he is still just spiraling in jail and we're
- 24:38told pretty clearly not competent even to stand trial.
- 24:41Drew, we always love having you on.
- 24:43Thank you so much. OK.
- 24:45Thank you. So that is the video that I want
- 24:47to show you guys. Let me see what your comments
- 24:50are before we move on to the research that I did.
- 24:53Let's see. Got lots of comments tonight.
- 24:56Let's see. Joy says Hickory, NC Harris
- 25:04shared on the Fish tank page a missing child from our immediate
- 25:07area. Please check it out and share.
- 25:08I will take a look see. Thank you very much.
- 25:11Any of my mods or other members of the fish tank, please, please
- 25:15take a look at that as well. What she is talking about guys
- 25:17is over on Facebook. Let me bring this up right here.
- 25:22If you go to my website, gavinfish.com, there's always a
- 25:25link in the description down below.
- 25:27And you click on the little fishy icon up at the top that
- 25:29will take you to the fish, the fish tank where we hang out on
- 25:33Facebook and you're always cordially invited to join us.
- 25:36About 6000 of us now and we talk about everything true crime, not
- 25:41just the videos and the live streams that we do here on
- 25:46YouTube. Thank you very much, Joy Mooney.
- 25:5222 months. Boom.
- 25:54Look at you as a member of Mooney is one of our Ogs.
- 25:58Not only is she one of our moderators, she is one of our
- 26:04Ogs. Scotch's mom says
- 26:06schizoaffective disorder is a combination of schizophrenia and
- 26:09bipolar disorder. Wow.
- 26:15Yeah, Anonymous also says the same thing.
- 26:17I believe schizoaffective disorder is a combination of
- 26:19aspects of schizophrenia and another disorder, bipolar I
- 26:24believe. And welcome from Scotland,
- 26:26Polly. Thank you.
- 26:30Autumn says don't they usually do blood work before giving meds
- 26:32like those? That is an excellent question.
- 26:35See, this is where my naivete really shines through because I
- 26:41don't I've never been in that realm myself, right?
- 26:46Not myself, not my spouse, not our children.
- 26:49Again, knocking on wood, not anybody close to me.
- 26:53I'm not sure Autumn, you'd, you'd think though, right, If
- 26:58you're if you're dealing with somebody who is, who is an
- 27:01addict has known and well documented public addiction that
- 27:08they would to make sure that there's no, I guess medication
- 27:14right. What what do they call that
- 27:16where two medications don't don't work well together?
- 27:21Let's see God secretary says I was watching Nancy Grace the
- 27:25other night and she had a therapist on there.
- 27:26She said that most of the time they'll add GLP ones and not
- 27:30switch the meds. Oh well, how interesting is
- 27:32that? Because from what we understand,
- 27:34there was a Med switch, right? Instead of just adding of the
- 27:40GLP ones. A nanny Mao says antipsychotics
- 27:44are known for causing lethargy or lethargy.
- 27:47However you pronounce that weight gain, sexual dysfunction.
- 27:50But many people also report a flattening of their personality,
- 27:53especial by especially bipolar patients.
- 28:00Gavin, I still have issues with TMC says TMZ says money, not
- 28:03TMC. That's that's that's something
- 28:06different. TMZ after they showed only a
- 28:10partial video that Amber Heard gave them about Depp, they
- 28:14wouldn't show the whole video showing her laughing at the end
- 28:17of the secret filming. Yeah, they are a TMZ is a yeah,
- 28:26it's a gossipy kind of tabloidy publication.
- 28:29But again, like I'm if if they've got something right, I I
- 28:36think that we should probably take a listen.
- 28:41Oops refresh if I hear let's see carrots and other veg says
- 28:49schizoaffective disorder is schizophrenia plus a personality
- 28:52disorder. I don't want to contradict
- 28:54Scotch's mom, but it's not necessarily bipolar.
- 28:56Thank you. D9072 says I believe he was
- 29:00using it is still interesting to figure out how they will
- 29:02proceed. Now if the meds had a part along
- 29:05with the drugs. How do you prosecute a situation
- 29:08like that? Well, and remember, Mr. Jackson,
- 29:13at this press conference from this photo, he had a very
- 29:17powerful statement and but it was it had a very important
- 29:23qualifier when he said according to the laws of the state of
- 29:28California, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder.
- 29:33And then he indignantly said, print that, print that, which I
- 29:36thought was a little over the top, Mr. Jackson, especially
- 29:39considering that I thought that the the report, the reportage
- 29:44has been quite good in my opinion.
- 29:48But yeah, how do you prosecute that?
- 29:52The prosecution believes they've got a case, right?
- 29:55I mean, they're bringing a case and they have to believe that
- 30:01they are right. Otherwise they're, they're
- 30:03violating every prosecutorial ethics that were ever written.
- 30:10That's overstating it, Gavin. They're they're violating like
- 30:14the the prime directive of prosecution Pearl snap, says
- 30:20Gavin. I wish there was more focus on
- 30:21healing mental health, aiding people with mental health
- 30:24concerns as a society. I believe the research and goes
- 30:28in the wrong direction. We have self driving cars,
- 30:31etcetera. Yeah, I, I hear what you're
- 30:34saying that I think the issue is that societally speaking, we
- 30:38don't agree on the best course of action for like we don't
- 30:43agree on what the cure is. Now I'm a person who kind of
- 30:47fled California, right? I, I was raised in California
- 30:50and my wife was born and raised there.
- 30:52We had all of our children there and I, and I don't want to wax
- 30:57political because politics was just very a small part of why we
- 31:02left. But it was part of why we left
- 31:05the city that just the little town that I grew up in gave so
- 31:10much deference to people being able to live on the street,
- 31:17live, live in a very unhealthy manner for themselves and for
- 31:22other people around them. And I I just didn't like having
- 31:26to step around the human waste and I didn't like to have to
- 31:33shield my children from that stuff.
- 31:35I wanted to go to a place that had a, a better grasp on things.
- 31:39But the, the situation in California that I just described
- 31:43came from a place of really good intention.
- 31:46That's the thing came from a place of good intention, but I
- 31:50think it's, I think it's just not only is it bad for the
- 31:53state, for the citizenry, but it's bad for the people who are
- 31:59living on the street Like that fact.
- 32:02I wouldn't call him a friend. I would call him a Co student
- 32:08that I went to high school with. I didn't particularly like the
- 32:10guy. I love his parents, I love his
- 32:11sister, but I didn't like that guy.
- 32:17You know, he's a friend, a friend.
- 32:20I don't know what to call him, but he died on the street in my
- 32:24hometown. He OD and not long before he did
- 32:31that, I was visiting my folks back in California and ran into
- 32:35him and had like a conversation with the guy that was maybe the
- 32:38most beautiful and honest conversation I'd ever had with
- 32:41him since I met him when we were maybe 10 years old.
- 32:45So like, you know, he would, he would likely still be alive had
- 32:49he gotten the help that he needed.
- 32:51And it would have had to have been tough love, right.
- 32:53So that's the that's The thing is that we don't all agree.
- 32:58And there might, there might be people that are watching me
- 33:01right now that are going Gavin is just out of his mind if he
- 33:04believes it that way. And that's my point.
- 33:06We don't agree, right? We don't agree on what the, what
- 33:10the cure is for this social disease that we have.
- 33:14And I, I currently live in a place where the opioid epidemic
- 33:20of the early 90s came through like freaking Noah's flood.
- 33:25And a few years later the, the main industry packed up and went
- 33:31to Texas and just just destroyed people's ability to, to earn a
- 33:37living and have jobs. And so I live in a place where
- 33:41there's just so much rhyme because of everything that has
- 33:48to everything that an addict must do in order to feed their
- 33:50addiction. So I mean, I see these things
- 33:54and I'm not naive to them, but how do we, how do we fix the
- 33:59problem? We all see it from so many
- 34:01different sides. It's tough.
- 34:04It's tough, man. Let's see, analytical one says
- 34:09Gavin. Meth caused my nephew to
- 34:11hallucinate and those hallucinations caused him to act
- 34:14out violently, fought through pain of being tased.
- 34:19And we're going to talk about this just a little bit more.
- 34:21Thank you very much. Let's see.
- 34:25Marianne Leary loves my soothing voice.
- 34:27Well thank you very much and welcome from New Jersey.
- 34:33Adam or Alan Jackson. He is rather over the top though
- 34:37he is an effective lawyer. I agree with you there.
- 34:43Anonymous blood tests are frequently for liver or medical
- 34:46issues. They may track medication level
- 34:48to make sure an effectual level is obtained.
- 34:51They can also test for illegal drugs, but they don't test
- 34:55often. Thank you Carrots, another
- 34:58veggie. In my opinion, the pharma
- 34:59industry really needs to work on improving meds for
- 35:02schizophrenia, psychosis. The current meds slow people
- 35:05right down. Ohio Paw mom says a lot of the
- 35:10problems started when the government defunded mental
- 35:12health hospitals but didn't fund community clinics.
- 35:14Yeah. I mean, there are just issues
- 35:17all over the place now. And thank you for those comments
- 35:21because I, I love the thoughtful commentary that we have in the
- 35:24live chat and in the comments after the show, after the show
- 35:29was in the can, so to speak. You guys are you guys bring
- 35:36insights that I just typically don't have myself.
- 35:38So thank you for that. You guys are awesome.
- 35:41OK, I want to bring up just and again, there might be heavy eye
- 35:49rolling here because this is not deep research.
- 35:53I did not deeply research this. I just went to Google and I said
- 35:58does methamphetamine cause violence?
- 36:00And that took me to several places where there, I mean, it
- 36:05is well studied. It is well studied starting the
- 36:09earliest study I found was in the 90s, but I'm sure there are
- 36:13earlier ones. Bring you over here.
- 36:17I'll just show you a couple methamphetamine abuse, violence
- 36:20and appropriate treatment. What is ojp.gov?
- 36:24Give me a second. This would be ojp.gov is the
- 36:31Office of Justice Programs, the United States government and I
- 36:38found a journal, Valparaiso University Law Review Volume 31,
- 36:42Issue 2 from spring 1997 and it says this paper shows that
- 36:47methamphetamine, which is predominantly used by
- 36:50Caucasians, is a prototypical drug that causes violent
- 36:53behavior. It says further chronic abuse
- 36:58can lead to a dose related stimulant psychosis
- 37:02characterized by intense paranoia with ideas of reference
- 37:06and out of control rage coupled with extremely violent behavior.
- 37:12MA dependence is a serious problem in the United States
- 37:14that has historically occurred in waves that resemble patterns
- 37:19seen in epidemics of infectious disease.
- 37:22In addition to the role of of amphetamines in violence,
- 37:26alcohol sharply diminishes impulse control and stimulants
- 37:29can produce paranoia and lead to preemptive violence, like not
- 37:34even reacting to anything, but preempting anything.
- 37:40It's very interesting to me anyway, that that finding in the
- 37:47study. Here's one from the national,
- 37:50what is National Institutes of Health?
- 37:54I believe this is from 2014, yeah, 2014 titled Does
- 38:01methamphetamine use increase violent behavior?
- 38:03Evidence from a perspective longitudinal study.
- 38:07And then I just, I just highlighted the findings and
- 38:11conclusions. There was a dose related
- 38:14increase in violent behavior when an individual was using
- 38:17methamphetamine compared to when they were not.
- 38:20After adjusting for other substance use substance use in
- 38:23socio demographics. The odds of violent behavior
- 38:27were further increased by psychotic symptoms, which
- 38:31accounted for 22 to 30% of violent behavior related to
- 38:35methamphetamine use. Heavy alcohol consumption also
- 38:39increased the risk of violent behavior and accounted for 12 to
- 38:4218% of the violence risk related to methamphetamine use.
- 38:47There is a dose related increase in violent behavior during
- 38:50periods of methamphetamine use that is largely independent of
- 38:53the violence risk associated with psychotic symptoms.
- 38:57So if he was in some some form of psychosis, the
- 39:04methamphetamine use and the violence that comes from that,
- 39:09it is largely independent of the other psychotic symptoms.
- 39:18So, and then the third one that I found from the National
- 39:25Institutes of Health, I think this one was 2010.
- 39:29Comparative rates of violent crime among regular
- 39:32methamphetamine and opioid users.
- 39:33Offending and victimization Findings say 82% reported a
- 39:38lifetime history of committing violent crime, 41% in the last
- 39:4212 months. There were no group differences
- 39:44in lifetime violence, but the meth group were significantly
- 39:48more likely than the heroin group that had that two groups
- 39:52here to have committed violence in the past 12 months.
- 39:55The odds ratio was 1.94 to 1. The conclusions?
- 40:01Regular methamphetamine use appears to be associated with an
- 40:05increased risk of violent offending but not victimization
- 40:08compared to heroin use. And you know my fear in this.
- 40:14So I think the doctor Drew is right when he said
- 40:17methamphetamine is the violence drug, right.
- 40:21We again, we want to temper our speculation with compassion and
- 40:25humanity. These are two people who are no
- 40:28longer with us. They are mort and and in just
- 40:32such a tragic and violent way. So I want to temper myself a
- 40:36little bit with compassion, with humanity.
- 40:40One of the things that I'm concerned about is that Mister
- 40:45Nick Reiner is now in jail and he's awaiting, he's, he's
- 40:53awaiting the the process right now.
- 40:57During that process, he likely will have had some sort of
- 41:01intake and intake observation, some kind of mental health
- 41:08check, hopefully by professionals within the jail.
- 41:16I, I deeply hope so. But a jail is not a place where
- 41:21people get good mental health care.
- 41:25It just isn't. And I was about to say, well, at
- 41:28least he would be off meth if he were on that.
- 41:30But it's in a jail. Maybe not.
- 41:34That stuff makes it in there all the time.
- 41:36So it's just, I feel like it's a bad place for him to be.
- 41:42And I, I, I don't know in order to get justice in this case.
- 41:47And what does justice look like? What if he was in, in a, let's
- 41:54call it a psychosis that was electrically charged, violently
- 42:01charged with, with methamphetamine use.
- 42:05Let's say, again, I'm speculating here.
- 42:07I don't know this what, what does justice look like the, the
- 42:14prosecution is looking for put him in prison for the rest of
- 42:17his life? And is that justice?
- 42:21I mean, two people died. Is it justice or is he not
- 42:28guilty by reason of legal insanity?
- 42:33And could he spend the rest of his life out of society still,
- 42:44but in a place where in a, in a place where he can get proper
- 42:49care? Because I think if they find him
- 42:52just straight guilty. And I worry about this guys
- 42:54because I, I told you, I, I, in my day job, I report on, on
- 43:01crime and on, you know, I, I cover trials here in Western
- 43:06Pennsylvania. And I watched a guy who I was
- 43:10convinced he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
- 43:14And I, I was convinced that he was in a schizophrenic manic
- 43:17episode or I'd, I'm not using the right terms when he
- 43:20violently killed a man and the jury just found him straight
- 43:25guilty. And I thought, well, that dude's
- 43:29going to be suffering for the rest of his unnatural life.
- 43:34And and while I think that there has to be accountability, I
- 43:42think there also has to be help. I really do that.
- 43:48That's just my perspective. Now we got a couple minutes.
- 43:52Let me just check in on what you guys are saying here.
- 43:56Let's see reading to plants 8955 says arguendo, what about
- 44:01someone who voluntarily drinks alcohol and then drives and
- 44:04kills someone? Same punishment As for someone
- 44:06who voluntarily took meth and stabs his parents.
- 44:09That's a that's a good argument. It it is a good argument.
- 44:15I I do think though that, and again, this is coming from and
- 44:21and this is just professional quibbling and doing so
- 44:23respectfully, which is is totally cool.
- 44:28I think that I think that we're missing the mental health angle
- 44:35in this and, and all, you know, everything that goes with that
- 44:41in this comparison, But I was just going to say the addictive
- 44:47nature of it, but alcohol is addictive.
- 44:49I don't know that's a good argument.
- 44:51It's it's just missing the the mental health component of it.
- 44:57But but like I see your point and and I think it's a great
- 45:02point. Pretty red 60 goes Gavin.
- 45:06It gives me chills thinking about how horrific Rob and his
- 45:09wife died. He deserves prison if for no
- 45:11other reason he killed people paying for a treatment that
- 45:14wasn't interested in rehabbing. I respectfully quibble with it
- 45:21just a little bit. Pretty red, if I can just
- 45:26quibble with it. I think.
- 45:27I think that you are missing in the mental illness side of it as
- 45:30well. I mean, maybe you're not.
- 45:33Maybe you have considered that and are still like, no, he
- 45:36should go to prison for the rest of his life.
- 45:38But I do think that in in our prison system, there should be
- 45:42some kind of rehabilitation component to it.
- 45:48I really do, Grace Miata says. I believe they take blood and do
- 45:53a heart test of some sort. My child had it done OK.
- 45:57I saw one that didn't have a GF on it, but I can't.
- 46:05Oh, he's in the mental health wing of the LA County jail.
- 46:09So hopefully, if I, I take your word for it that he is and and
- 46:14you're right, that has been reported and I want to bring up
- 46:18victims a little more often here.
- 46:20I don't want to be talking just about Nick, but I still as a
- 46:29person, like I've, I've never been incarcerated, I've never
- 46:32been imprisoned, but I've seen the insides of prisons and I've
- 46:35talked to prisoners, even the mental health wing man.
- 46:40I it's just not a place to to get the help that you need.
- 46:45It's too slow. Maybe, maybe LA does a much
- 46:47better job than than the jails and prisons out here in
- 46:51Pennsylvania. And and if they do, I hope, I
- 46:55hope so. D9072 says Gavin.
- 46:58Society needs to come together and compromise regarding mental
- 47:01health. It is real and there are real
- 47:03solutions. We have to get past the stigma
- 47:06and the shame. And I and I do I agree.
- 47:09And I think that we slowly are, you know, for example, I think
- 47:15when I was a younger man, it, it was almost like you would never
- 47:21admit out loud that you're going to see a counselor or you're
- 47:24going to see a therapist. You would never do that.
- 47:27And now it is a thing where not only is it normalized, but it
- 47:32almost feels like, well, good for you.
- 47:34And, and man, maybe I want to try that.
- 47:37You know, every, every person I've ever talked to in my
- 47:39personal life that have that have shared with me what their
- 47:42experience in therapy has been, has made me feel like, man, good
- 47:47on you. That is really great for doing
- 47:50that. That's one of the things about
- 47:52the Ellen Greenberg case that like, let's find you somebody.
- 47:56Let's find you some help. I thought that that was that was
- 47:59wise and, and I was glad that Ellen was doing that and it's
- 48:03one of the reasons why I don't believe she did to herself what
- 48:06they say she did. So I, I think we are making
- 48:10progress. I think progress is slow, but I
- 48:14think we are moving in and in the right direction.
- 48:21But guys, you know what we need to do right now.
- 48:26Let me let me push all the right buttons.
- 48:29Let's get in three questions. It's three questions with Gavin
- 48:32Fish Pow. OK guys, 3 questions, this
- 48:40segment. In this segment, I do solemnly
- 48:44swear upon my honor that I will do my very best to answer
- 48:49questions that you send in to me at the e-mail address on the
- 48:53screen. Three questions at
- 48:54gavinfish.com. Three questions at
- 48:56gavinfish.com. Spell it out.
- 48:57THREE questions at gavinfish.com.
- 49:02You can send in. One you can send in 1000.
- 49:05You can send them all together. You can send them one at a time.
- 49:08What I will do is I will answer 3 every time we are together.
- 49:13And so let's get into it. What are our three questions
- 49:18today? Question #1 What is the
- 49:21significance of the cork board with assorted pictures on it on
- 49:25the wall behind you? Yes, this is an homage to the
- 49:30television portrayal of a quote UN quote murder board, but it it
- 49:35contains pieces of information and photos of of many of the
- 49:41cases that are deeply important to me.
- 49:46Judy Ann Hockery, who is down right there, She was the she was
- 49:52the first case I ever looked into.
- 49:55And true crime, of course. We got Amanda Winkowski up
- 49:57there. We've got Ellen Greenberg up
- 49:59there. We've got Madeline Soto, we've
- 50:02got Adam Shaknei down there. Why am I, why am I blinking?
- 50:10Adam Shaknei was held civilly responsible for the for the
- 50:14death of Rebecca Zahau, a case that I looked into.
- 50:19What else? David Elmquest.
- 50:21Up there we've got the Zodiac. Carol Beth Hilburn, Nancy
- 50:27Banalik. These are all cases that are
- 50:29important to me and my wife has said that she is going to update
- 50:34it from time to time though. And this is not a complaint
- 50:40about my snuggly bear, my sweetie pie, my one and only.
- 50:43She has yet to do that and her defense out of the two of us, I
- 50:49think she works harder and longer than I do and, and I work
- 50:52hard and long question #2 if you could go back to a period or
- 51:01event in history for the day, where would you go and why?
- 51:04This is a question that has come up a couple times since we
- 51:07started. Three questions.
- 51:08But since it came up again, I was like, yeah, let's let's
- 51:10answer it. A period or event in history for
- 51:13the day. Where would you go and why Well,
- 51:15I would want it to be a safe place for me to be.
- 51:20Let's assume that let's assume that I was like impervious to
- 51:26being injured, killed, or even noticed while I was there I can
- 51:33think of a couple things I. My grandfather landed on Omaha
- 51:39Beach on D-Day and I, I don't want like, I, I can't remember
- 51:47how many people landed that day. He was not like among the first
- 51:50wave who fought, you know, from the water to the, to the wall,
- 51:57because his job in World War 2 is he was a driver of tank
- 52:02destroyers. So he had a tank destroyer that
- 52:05he was part of that crew. So they, they came onto the
- 52:08beach later that day. But I would love to just be a
- 52:14family on the wall and witness the heroics that my grandfather
- 52:19did in Europe. I think that would be amazing, I
- 52:27think. I think also maybe if I could be
- 52:31a family on the wall and they wouldn't see it, I would love
- 52:32to. I would love to witness the
- 52:40negotiation and the debate surrounding the drafting of the
- 52:44Declaration of Independence because those the three main
- 52:47characters, they're working on it.
- 52:49Of course, we were talking John, John Adams, Ben Franklin and who
- 52:57wrote the Declaration of Independence.
- 52:58I, I blink like this sometimes. Thomas Jefferson, those were
- 53:04three very opinionated and different individuals, and I
- 53:08would have loved to see just how that debate and negotiation
- 53:14worked its way through. It's an amazing document, guys.
- 53:20As Americans, we should go back. I know you don't have to read
- 53:24the entire Constitution, though it's not as long as you think it
- 53:28is. But the Declaration of
- 53:32Independence is a document that we should read every single
- 53:36year, and I try to do it on July 4th.
- 53:39I would love that question #3 Is there any burning desire to
- 53:44visit a country in the world that you haven't already been
- 53:47to? Where and why?
- 53:54No, I don't have any real burning desires to visit any
- 53:57countries that I haven't been to.
- 53:58There's so many. There are what are there 198
- 54:02countries in the world? I probably have.
- 54:05I, I don't think I'm even close to half of those.
- 54:09But I have been everywhere that I want to go, except for
- 54:13Antarctica, which isn't a country, but I would love to
- 54:16visit Antarctica. And I've never been to Alaska.
- 54:20I, I would love to love to visit Alaska, but honestly, when it
- 54:23comes to travel, I am a little bit travelled out.
- 54:25I'm a little Rd. weary. I spent so many years just on
- 54:29the road. And however, last year when
- 54:34Kimberly and I, we went to London for crime con UK stayed a
- 54:38couple days and then we just were like, off to Portugal we
- 54:42go. Neither of us have been to
- 54:43Portugal. It didn't necessarily have to be
- 54:46Portugal. That was just a very, very cheap
- 54:48way to travel. And, and as long as I'm with her
- 54:53or other people that I love, I would go anywhere on earth.
- 54:57That's how I feel about it. Those are your three questions.
- 55:00Now listen, here's the deal that I didn't, that I didn't say in
- 55:04the beginning and I should have said, I want to hear what you
- 55:07guys have to say. How would you answer these
- 55:09questions? The questions once again are,
- 55:12well, you guys know the significance of the cork board,
- 55:15but the two are if you could go back to a period in history for
- 55:19the day, where would you go and why?
- 55:20And is there a country that you would like to visit?
- 55:24Where and why? And while you get your thumbs
- 55:28going and typing in to the chat, let's hop into headlines.
- 55:41How? OK, I've got three headlines for
- 55:43you that I want to just briefly go over.
- 55:46Headline number one, this came from a couple days ago.
- 55:49JP Miller granted a continuance in his federal case.
- 55:53You guys remember the case of Micah Francis Miller who whose
- 55:58death was ruled that she had, she had done it to herself
- 56:02though we learned as it was just so sketchy how Pastor Miller,
- 56:08the pastor Miller broke the news to his church that we all got
- 56:14very, very suspicious and, and started really looking at the
- 56:18good pastor and it turns out that he wasn't so good after
- 56:22all. And the federal government
- 56:23agrees with us. Here we go.
- 56:24Florence County, South Carolina court records show that John
- 56:27Paul Miller, Myrtle Beach pastor, has been granted a
- 56:30continuance in his case of federal charges filed against
- 56:33him. A judge arraigned the 46 year
- 56:36old earlier this week at the federal courthouse in Florence.
- 56:38Prosecutors said Miller admitted to hiring a private investigator
- 56:42to protect Mica from buying firearms, but actually hired the
- 56:46investigators to cyberstock his late wife over alleged adultery.
- 56:51The indictment also said he lied about damaging Micah Miller's
- 56:54tires on her car. The indictment comes two years
- 56:58after Micah's death at the Lumber River State Park in
- 57:01Robeson County, so he is out on $100,000 bond.
- 57:09The the disgraced pastor OK headline #2 this from yesterday
- 57:16Court documents shed light on relationship of mother,
- 57:19stepfather of missing Nova Scotia children.
- 57:21You guys remember the case of Jack and Lily Sullivan, the 2
- 57:25little kiddos that disappeared out of a rural and rather
- 57:32unkempt house in in Nova Scotia. This is one that has broken so
- 57:40many, so many hearts. And we all had questions about,
- 57:45I mean, it's kind of weird, right, that Malia just kind of
- 57:47disappeared and the stepfather was like, I'm the only one
- 57:53looking here. But anyway, so let let's hear
- 57:55what they have to say. From the CBC, newly released
- 57:59court documents in the case of Jack and Lily Sullivan offer
- 58:01more details on the relationship between their mother and
- 58:04stepfather leading up to the children's disappearance more
- 58:07than eight months ago. They've been missing since May.
- 58:11Their disappearance sparked an intensive grid search.
- 58:14Over the past eight months, authorities have brought in
- 58:16cadaver dogs, conducted interviews, polygraphs, so many
- 58:20tips. At the time of their
- 58:23disappearance, the children were living with their mother, Melia
- 58:25Brooks Murray, and stepfather Daniel Martel, and the couple's
- 58:28baby daughter. The family, including Lily and
- 58:30Jack, were last seen in public the day before the two children
- 58:33were reported missing. Newly released court documents
- 58:36in the case of missing blah, blah, blah blah.
- 58:39Why does it do that? They, they repeated themselves,
- 58:44OK, Provide a closer look to the relationship between their
- 58:46mother, Malia and stepfather, Daniel.
- 58:50As part of the case, police sought 12 search warrants
- 58:53between May and July. More details of those
- 58:57applications for warrants were laid out in court records that
- 58:59were obtained obtained by CBC News and The Globe and Mail this
- 59:02week. In those court documents, there
- 59:04are details of an interview conducted by police with Brooks
- 59:06Murray. She discusses her relationship
- 59:08with Martell, saying she moved in with him on his mother's
- 59:12property in Lansdowne around August 2023.
- 59:17She was asked if Martell was ever physically abusive.
- 59:20Malia said he would try to block her, hold her down and once he
- 59:22pushed her, the document said he would also take.
- 59:27She said he would also take her phone from her when she tried to
- 59:30call her mom, which would sometimes be physical and hurt.
- 59:35So yeah, looks like there were some physical issues going on in
- 59:41the Brooks Murray slash Martel household.
- 59:45OK, last headline that I have for you.
- 59:48Adam Bacharink has been ordered detained before his trial for
- 59:52the murder of his ex-wife Caitlin Tracy.
- 59:55The ex-husband of Caitlin Tracy, a Chicago woman found dead at
- 59:57the bottom of a Chicago condo building stairwell, has been
- 1:00:01ordered to be detained until his trial for murder.
- 1:00:03Adam Beckerink is charged with one count of first degree
- 1:00:07murder, according to the criminal complaint.
- 1:00:09And it doesn't really matter. We've covered this at length,
- 1:00:12but basically they accused him of throwing her over the rail of
- 1:00:17his 24th floor, like, you know, stairwell.
- 1:00:26Her foot came off. The impact was so hard.
- 1:00:33Anyway, blah, blah, blah, blah blah blah blah.
- 1:00:36Becker Inc was brought back to Chicago from Michigan where he
- 1:00:40was serving a 93 day sentence on domestic charges to stand trial
- 1:00:44on the murder charge. They just keeps going anyway.
- 1:00:51He has been held and they. The judge ruled the prosecution
- 1:00:57presented sufficient evidence that Beckerink should be
- 1:01:00detained, saying police witnessed him abusing his
- 1:01:04ex-wife, the DNA and Beckerink lying about when he last saw
- 1:01:07Tracy, among other things, and ordered him to be held in
- 1:01:10custody until his trial. The judge also ordered Beckerink
- 1:01:14not to have any contact with witnesses in the case.
- 1:01:16He's due back in court on February the 3rd.
- 1:01:21So those are your headlines, True crime.
- 1:01:31Headlines. OK, let's finish the show strong
- 1:01:35with some of your comments here real quick.
- 1:01:41Let's see carrots and other veg, says Professor Brian Cox said
- 1:01:48forward time travel is a proven reality given Einstein's theory
- 1:01:53of relativity. So maybe we can go forward.
- 1:01:56Gavin, you could do ASMR. Quite honestly, I, I've thought about
- 1:01:59it, but I, I just don't want another job.

- 1:02:07I do not. I have applied to be there, but
- 1:02:09I have so far heard crickets. I would like very much to be
- 1:02:15there. Carrots and other veg.
- 1:02:18One of the pleasures of living in Europe.
