Transcript
- 0:28Hello everyone, Seb here from the Transformational Meditation Group.
- 0:32Good to have you back on our biweekly podcast,
- 0:35and as you can see, we are not in nature, and I
- 0:38don't have a guest even today.
- 0:40We're back to basics.
- 0:42We had a long run of practically quite
- 0:45special episodes, but now we're back to basics,
- 0:49what we used to do, a little talk, and then some self-regulation and
- 0:52meditation techniques.
- 0:54The theme for today though is pretty interesting, I guess.
- 0:59Or I think, and it's something that many
- 1:03people are interested in
- 1:06recently because of current events in the world.
- 1:10And it's about money.
- 1:13And you might think, well, money is always an issue, and yeah, it's
- 1:16the way you look at things.
- 1:19Because even billionaires, They
- 1:22worry about money, like normally you would think I have a lack of
- 1:25money, but even billionaires, that have a lot of money,
- 1:28they even have, yeah,
- 1:31a negative relationship with it.
- 1:34An example is a billionaire with a private jet, maybe
- 1:37several private jets, and due to recent circumstances,
- 1:41the jet fuel prices going up.
- 1:44I know it's a luxury problem, but for them, they are
- 1:47in a whole different world, right?
- 1:49For them, it stresses them out.
- 1:51Uh, Normal advice would be,
- 1:54uh, let your jets, sell your jets,
- 1:58or keep it on the ground, or fly less.
- 2:02So, but yeah, it's actually the same as with people that own a car.
- 2:07After a while.
- 2:10You see the gasoline prices go up, and
- 2:13then you have, essentially, a
- 2:16similar problem as the billionaire, like maybe you have to
- 2:19drive your car less.
- 2:22Um, maybe you can exchange it with a bus,
- 2:26or other public transport, maybe you take the bike, if you have one.
- 2:31Uh, so yeah, uh, but so
- 2:34you see billionaire or not billionaire.
- 2:38People worry about money.
- 2:41Nevertheless.
- 2:43So, it's the same reaction our body has.
- 2:46It's the same thoughts we have.
- 2:47It's the same stress situation, whether you have enough money or not.
- 2:51What does help is the way you look at things.
- 2:56and your other situations, because often
- 2:59people say, um, money is a
- 3:02problem for me, but it's not actually the money, that's the problem.
- 3:06Maybe it's the other things around it.
- 3:09Maybe you're insecure.
- 3:11Maybe your relationships, uh, your
- 3:14family and friends aren't that good.
- 3:16So what means that if I lose a lot of money, I can't get
- 3:19by it anymore.
- 3:21I have nothing to lean on.
- 3:23Maybe the state, maybe you live in a country, the
- 3:26state, doesn't help you, or you have to, uh,
- 3:31maybe sell things or stop using things
- 3:35buy other things that are cheaper.
- 3:37Uh, those are maybe the very,
- 3:40the worrying parts, not the money in itself.
- 3:44So, in South America, especially, we
- 3:47can learn a lot for those people there, because they,
- 3:50even though they have not a lot of money, they have
- 3:53social security, they have a social network, they have their
- 3:56family and friends, and
- 3:59loved ones, that are always there to support them.
- 4:03They have a different way of being social with each other.
- 4:09In the in the west, in North America,
- 4:12and in Europe, we often see that people are more lonely.
- 4:17Right?
- 4:17They, they have money, they can get by, but
- 4:20they don't have anyone to fall back on in case of
- 4:23trouble, so that security isn't there,
- 4:26unless, uh, you get money
- 4:30from social security, from the state, for example, but
- 4:34even that might give insecurities as well for you.
- 4:37Maybe you're not sure if you, um,
- 4:41if you uh, can apply for such uh,
- 4:44such things.
- 4:46And then again, it's nice to have friends and family that
- 4:50can help you out that you know, okay, those people,
- 4:53they will always support me, uh, no matter what.
- 4:57So, maybe, Instead
- 5:01of worrying about money.
- 5:03We should worry about our social situation.
- 5:07The security I have.
- 5:10And Also, do you trust yourself?
- 5:16Do you trust yourself in making the right decisions when it comes to money?
- 5:21Do I have the skills, the experience, the ability to ask
- 5:25for help because that's also important in the situation?
- 5:28Can I ask for help?
- 5:30Because many people do want to help?
- 5:34Because they feel good about it, but some many
- 5:37people also feel ashamed for asking for help.
- 5:40And that's also a different thing with people in the West, in Europe,
- 5:44and in North America, in comparison to people in the
- 5:47South Americans, and Asia, and in Africa,
- 5:50where people are used to ask for help.
- 5:53They don't feel it as a shameful thing to do.
- 5:57And they generally need some help and they gladly
- 6:00ask others to help them out.
- 6:03So you shouldn't be ashamed for that.
- 6:07Also recognize that you might have just enough, right?
- 6:12Uh, how you how you're living right now?
- 6:15Do you feel comfortable?
- 6:17And even if you, uh, in
- 6:20an unforeseeable future, notice
- 6:23that you might have less money.
- 6:27Are there things that you can get rid of things that
- 6:30you don't have to buy and still live comfortable?
- 6:33Maybe you should realize that, am
- 6:38I comfortable without a car, for example, if the
- 6:41expenses for a car rise through the roof?
- 6:45What can I do?
- 6:47So you have to also accept.
- 6:50certain things and take a look at yourself.
- 6:55Do you appreciate what you have?
- 6:59And then we get to our heart brain coherence and exercise
- 7:02often, like feel the appreciation,
- 7:05feel the comfort, even if you
- 7:09might think you don't have it.
- 7:11There's a lot to be appreciative about and
- 7:14thankful about.
- 7:19Notice what already supports your life while allowing yourself
- 7:22to improve your circumstances, right?
- 7:25So, if you get in that negative
- 7:28spiral of, oh, I don't have enough, I don't have enough.
- 7:31I lack this, and everything is bad.
- 7:35You get in a negative spiral, there you only will experience
- 7:38things that, um, that, uh,
- 7:42that fit with that view you
- 7:45have with those feelings you have, right?
- 7:47You get the confirmation that, oh, yeah, it
- 7:50is bad, and then you experience things and see things happening
- 7:53that will confirm, confirm that feeling.
- 8:00Well, when we treat to appreciations and say, hey,
- 8:03I'm doing good, despite the circumstances,
- 8:07and when I am
- 8:10able to buy something in the grocery store, or
- 8:14some product, and say, hey, I
- 8:17appreciate that I'm able to do this, switch to
- 8:20switch that feeling mode, to the appreciation
- 8:23and gratitude mode.
- 8:26Um, it will help.
- 8:29And of course, knowledge, do you know your basics about money?
- 8:34Do you understand money?
- 8:36And do you understand your own reactions to it as well?
- 8:40Because you might have been taught
- 8:45to think a certain way about money because of the
- 8:48way we grew up, how did
- 8:51our parents work with money, what did they do?
- 8:55How did they complain or not complain about money,
- 8:58and we inherit that?
- 9:00So, uh, maybe you want to look at that too.
- 9:04But what can I do about my own view about money?
- 9:08And the current view I have now might come
- 9:12from society, family, and friends, or family.
- 9:20Um,
- 9:25Also, instead of worrying about the future, which
- 9:28we often do, and then reflecting
- 9:32about past happenings as well.
- 9:35Recognize that you don't have control.
- 9:37You don't have feel control.
- 9:39We can, we always think what is the worst thing that can happen, right?
- 9:43And we start to worry about it.
- 9:46And then we can get into that negative spiral that everything is bad.
- 9:51And you don't have enough and you lack everything.
- 9:54Um, But when you
- 9:57go into yourself and think about, okay, what do I have now?
- 10:03What do I need now?
- 10:04Are all my needs met?
- 10:06And if not, what can I do about certain
- 10:10things here and now?
- 10:12Take it one step, one thing at a time, and
- 10:15then you will notice your growth.
- 10:19You notice you're getting out of it, even if it sucks right now, right?
- 10:22You know, that you are getting out of it.
- 10:24Maybe you do need to ask for help.
- 10:27Don't feel ashamed for it.
- 10:29Ask a friend, a family member for help, uh,
- 10:32to get started by growing.
- 10:34And then of course, you can always help them back.
- 10:39So it doesn't say that financial hardship isn't real, right?
- 10:43People, uh, some people are in a very bad shape
- 10:46financially, uh, don't have to downplay
- 10:50that, and we don't have to be judgmental about it either.
- 10:54Say, hey, you know, it's your own fault, for example.
- 10:57There are situations where it's not people's fault.
- 11:02And they have been so unlucky to
- 11:05get into that bad situation.
- 11:08And instead of judging it, maybe you should be the one helping out.
- 11:13Um, on social media.
- 11:16You know, I'm on Vero, true social, actually, I
- 11:19would say that's the only social media platform that still exists.
- 11:24Um, But there
- 11:27are people sometimes asking for help.
- 11:30And when I see that, and I think, hey, you know,
- 11:33you're following me, and you're asking everybody
- 11:36for help, and you're explaining the situation, you are, and
- 11:40even you have like a,
- 11:43not a patreon page for a PayPal account or,
- 11:46you are on a other service that,
- 11:50where you can send money, which is, which then gets, given to you.
- 11:56I'm not sure how it called anymore.
- 11:57There are several websites, services online.
- 12:01where people can ask for help for donations, and those are
- 12:04official organizations and companies.
- 12:07So you know that your money is safe,
- 12:10that you're not spending it on some scammer or hacker, right?
- 12:14So be careful about that.
- 12:15Be careful who you trust your money too.
- 12:19But, uh, knowing that on very true
- 12:22social, most people are 99% of
- 12:25the people there are real people, and when they ask for help and even
- 12:28come with a PayPal account, you can donate on,
- 12:31or they have a, uh, a donation,
- 12:35uh, webpage on an official donation site,
- 12:39uh, it's pretty safe to give money.
- 12:43And, um, I haven't even
- 12:46have experienced that I got some money back because those organizations
- 12:49found out that it was a scam, nevertheless.
- 12:52So be careful when giving
- 12:55money away, but don't stop
- 12:58helping people.
- 13:00So just be mindful of what you do.
- 13:04And if you have many to spend, money
- 13:07to spend, if you have money, uh, do it,
- 13:10help people out that need it.
- 13:13Uh, if you've been following me and the transformational
- 13:16meditation group for a couple of years, you know that
- 13:19at least 2 to 3 times a year, uh,
- 13:23we as an organization or I
- 13:26wouldn't say business because we don't really make money,
- 13:29but sometimes we, we, we get uh,
- 13:32money in that we can't spend anything
- 13:35useful for and say, okay, let's
- 13:39spend it on our followers.
- 13:42Right?
- 13:42Let's spend it on the people we know.
- 13:44And the last donation we made
- 13:47was to Way To Yourself,
- 13:51the German organization, that helps people in Uganda,
- 13:54setting up schools, education, that sort of things.
- 13:58So we send some money there.
- 14:01And because they need help to people there, need some
- 14:04help and they're not afraid to ask either.
- 14:07So, do it.
- 14:09It doesn't have to be much money eater, just
- 14:12the act of giving something,
- 14:15helping somebody out, uh, is helps a lot.
- 14:20And, um, like I heard saying as
- 14:23well, like if you have 30 friends,
- 14:26and they all chime in $10, right?
- 14:30You get a lot of money, you get a lot of help.
- 14:33And every friend just gives a little, right?
- 14:37So, it helps a lot, those donation
- 14:40sites and, and yeah,
- 14:43I really are able to help people out.
- 14:46So those are good causes.
- 14:48And if you have enough, You
- 14:52will also notice that even, even when
- 14:55you give, you always get a lot back in return as well.
- 14:58It's my experience at least.
- 15:01And I think it was the late Wayne Dyer, uh,
- 15:04pretty well-known author, um,
- 15:07psychologist, I'm not mistaken.
- 15:10Uh, he was, he always tells the story, he
- 15:14used to tell the story about him being a bad financial situation.
- 15:18He didn't have much, but he still was able to give
- 15:22money or services to other people.
- 15:25And because he was, he didn't have much, and he still gave it away.
- 15:30He actually got a lot of goodwill in return
- 15:34and actually became a pretty successful author
- 15:38and public speaker too.
- 15:41So, the act of giving, the act of being grateful,
- 15:45appreciation, those kind of
- 15:48feelings, those kind of frequencies that you can
- 15:51adjust to, that you can self regulate, are
- 15:56pretty awesome, and are great to get
- 15:59through even the hardest times.
- 16:03So, yeah.
- 16:05I would say let's practice this, right?
- 16:08Let's look at our own financial situation
- 16:12and think over all those things
- 16:15one more time.
- 16:18So sit up straight.
- 16:20Find a comfortable position, make sure you have good enough support,
- 16:24and it's to assure self-regulation session,
- 16:27to get a nervous system or being in the
- 16:30right shape, to uh, to cope
- 16:34with worries about money or even decide
- 16:39to take some action, uh, recording our situation.
- 16:43Which could be asking people for help or even if you
- 16:47have enough, you realize you have enough, give some money away
- 16:50to help other people out.
- 16:53Okay.
- 16:55Sit up straight, take a nice deep email through your nose.
- 16:59And exhale through your mouth.
- 17:01Lower your shoulders, loosen your jaw, close your eyes.
- 17:09One more time, take a nice deep inhale through your nose.
- 17:15Exhale through your mouth.
- 17:20Feel yourself getting centered, letting the day go.
- 17:24Just be there with yourself in your comfort zone, settle
- 17:27down, breathe calmly and deeply.
- 17:33Nice, calm, deep breath.
- 17:36And relax with every out breath even further.
- 17:42Getting more and more comfortable.
- 17:45More and more with yourself.
- 17:52And only just by breathing like this, you
- 17:55already tell your body that it is in a safe place.
- 18:11Notice where you feel your breath the most.
- 18:16Do you feel your breath most in your nostrils, or
- 18:19the back of your throat, or maybe you feel your
- 18:22breath most in your chest or your tummy?
- 18:27Just focus for a moment on that spot where
- 18:30you feel your breath the most.
- 18:32Notice the quality of the breath, Maybe
- 18:38you feel colder air flowing in, you breathe in.
- 18:42And warm air flowing out as you exhale.
- 18:50Nice, calm, deep breathes.
- 18:52Continue with that.
- 19:00And now move that focus point into your heart space, and
- 19:03you can put your hand on your chest right there where your heart is.
- 19:08Just to keep that focus into your heart space.
- 19:13Now imagine that you are breathing through your heart, that
- 19:16the air goes in and out of your chest area, through your heart.
- 19:27Calm, slow, deep breaths through your heart, and
- 19:32it really gets that heart rate, variability, very
- 19:35balanced and coherent.
- 19:40Which, in turn, balances our nervous system, gives optimal
- 19:43flow of information throughout our body,
- 19:46between all our organs and especially between the brain and the heart.
- 19:54This is so important if you want to change your
- 19:58state of being, To calm
- 20:01down your nervous system, to get your system, your organs,
- 20:04your information flowing balance and optimized.
- 20:09Then really changing your state of being has a lot of effect.
- 20:19So you breathe through your heart
- 20:25If you take a look at your current financial situation,
- 20:35Are you getting by?
- 20:36Do you have enough?
- 20:43And even if you have enough, or maybe if you not have enough,
- 20:49Can you appreciate what you have?
- 20:56Think about some things that you.
- 21:02Appreciate what you have right now.
- 21:10Notice what already support your life.
- 21:21Even if you know that you want some things to improve.
- 21:26Notice that there are always things that already things you
- 21:30appreciate, that you have, that you can appreciate.
- 21:34And even the opportunity you have to
- 21:39improve your situation.
- 21:43You can be appreciative of that, and thankful for that.
- 22:02Think about your ability to ask for help.
- 22:11Or think about your ability to provide help to others.
- 22:22Imagine that you are able to provide for others and
- 22:25imagine how it feels, to ask
- 22:28for help, without feeling ashamed, and people even appreciate
- 22:32you for asking help.
- 22:38Feel that relief.
- 22:41Of asking help.
- 22:44I feel that relief and gratitude to be able to help others.
- 22:50Continue breathing to your heart as you create that situation inside of you.
- 23:34Now think about your past.
- 23:38How did you grow up, or did you learn at school about money?
- 23:44How did your parents, your family, treat money?
- 23:50What were their views on money, and do
- 23:54you recognize maybe something you inherited from
- 23:57them, from those views?
- 24:03And are those beneficial or should you let them go?
- 24:49And finally, Think about what needs
- 24:52your attention right now.
- 24:58What needs your attention, money wise,
- 25:01in your financial situation?
- 25:05This could be nothing, it could be several things, but 1st and foremost.
- 25:11Pick one thing that you want to focus on.
- 25:19What do you want to focus on from today off?
- 25:26What are you anticipating and what useful steps can you take?
- 25:36Then I should breathe through your heart, see yourself, succeed with those steps.
- 25:47As if it is happening right now, if you're succeeding right now.
- 25:53Feel the appreciation, the gratitude.
- 25:57The relieve, the joy.
- 26:00Maybe you feel proud of yourself.
- 26:04Taking steps, taking action.
- 26:51All right.
- 26:56Good, uh, breathe normally, get back.
- 27:01Get back to the room you are in.
- 27:05Maybe wiggle your fingers and toes, move your body.
- 27:09Hang on to those, that new state of being of gratitude, appreciation.
- 27:18Wonderful, open your eyes if you had them closed, welcome back, welcome back.
- 27:23Good.
- 27:23So here you have it, right?
- 27:27And notice that even billionaires, they worry
- 27:30about money, though.
- 27:33They have more flexibility, of course, to deal with those
- 27:38situations, but nevertheless, worry is a worry.
- 27:42And it affects them in the same way as
- 27:45it affects people who aren't billionaires.
- 27:48So they still have to think, do I actually have enough,
- 27:52which, of course, will realize they have.
- 27:56But they will also hopefully think about, hey,
- 27:59maybe I can spend some money and help others.
- 28:05Right?
- 28:06But yeah, we can discuss a lot about that.
- 28:09It's about you right now and I don't think many
- 28:12billionaires are watching this podcast
- 28:15and listening to this podcast.
- 28:18So, I guess many people are just
- 28:21like you and me.
- 28:23Uh, they come by uh, and realize they
- 28:26have enough, and if they don't have enough, they now
- 28:29realize that, hey, I can do something about it.
- 28:33And I would say the most important 2
- 28:36things are your social network.
- 28:38Can you get help?
- 28:40you have to sort people that back you, right?
- 28:43Um, and, um, If
- 28:47you don't have that, don't be afraid.
- 28:48At least don't be afraid to ask for help.
- 28:52Uh, it should be, if it's your neighbors,
- 28:55If you go to a sort of donation,
- 28:59website, and do something there, don't be ashamed to do that.
- 29:03And, uh, there are always people that are willing to help you out.
- 29:08Uh, like, transformation meditation group does as well.
- 29:12Uh, like I said, in start, we don't
- 29:15make money, uh, because we are,
- 29:18I would almost say, for non-profit, but
- 29:21we do sometimes have some money on
- 29:25the bank that we can, uh, can, uh, can spend on
- 29:29helping people out and uh, other organizations that
- 29:32have the same view as we have.
- 29:35And like Wayne Dyer said, even if you don't
- 29:38have much, the act of giving something,
- 29:43uh, gives you so much back, and it really is true.
- 29:48I can attest to that.
- 29:49including with transformational meditation group, as
- 29:53an organization as well.
- 29:55So, yeah.
- 29:58I hope this podcast episode
- 30:01inspired you.
- 30:03And was for help.
- 30:06And if not, that it was informative, and
- 30:10yeah, I hope to see you back soon again for the next episode.
- 30:14Take good care.
- 30:15Be safe and Namaste, everyone.
