- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And in this.
- 0:42Episode of The Hypnotist, You're going to be listening to a
- 0:45hypnosis session to help a client that had a fear of birds
- 0:50and specifically a fear of pigeons.
- 0:53And there's a few things going on here, but it actually uses
- 0:56this idea. Of.
- 0:59Experiencing something that they didn't have a fear of, and there
- 1:07was certain animals that were of a similar size, they didn't
- 1:11really feel fear. And it's about mapping that
- 1:14resource across two pigeons from a first person perspective.
- 1:18And it uses certain metaphors to get.
- 1:20Them to the point. Where they're not in the
- 1:23experience, but they're experiencing it as if it's a
- 1:25first person perspective. So it's training the very neural
- 1:28pathways to feel either silly, ambivalent, curious, funny,
- 1:35confident. Around things that.
- 1:37Look like pigeons and the reason I use the phrase things that
- 1:41look like pigeons is that let's just say for example that you
- 1:46had a very very good special effects company that do
- 1:50Hollywood things and they created a robot that looked like
- 1:53a pigeon for someone that had a fear of pigeons the fact that
- 1:56it. Looks like a pigeon would
- 1:57probably create the same. Level of anxiety as if it was a
- 2:02pigeon until they knew it was a. Little.
- 2:03Robot and then. They might not.
- 2:05Feel any anxiety at all? And it's that reframe of
- 2:08something that looks like a pigeon, but taking the anxiety
- 2:11away. So it might be that you do have
- 2:14a fear of pigeons. It might be that you have the
- 2:16fear of a different animal or a different trigger.
- 2:18The structure behind this is the same, and that is to map a
- 2:22resourceful state across to the. State which is.
- 2:26Currently making you feel anxious or unresourceful?
- 2:30Whatever your trigger is, we can work on that.
- 2:34And if you like the idea of a bespoke session, there will be a
- 2:36link in the show notes where you can schedule that free
- 2:38consultation call over Zoom. For now though, you might get
- 2:41some value from this even if you don't have a fur of Igeons O
- 2:44find a quiet comfortable lace where you won't be.
- 2:46Disturbed, relax and. Enjoy the session.
- 3:47The. Take a deep breath in.
- 4:00And on the outward breath, that's it.
- 4:03Just allow your eyelids to relax.
- 4:06And with your eyes closed, notice how you can give more of
- 4:13your attention to the sound of my voice.
- 4:24Breathing in relaxation and exhaling tension.
- 4:33That's it. Breathing in that feeling of
- 4:40pure calm and relaxation and as you exhale.
- 4:49Don't need to scan your body for any clues of anxiety, stress or
- 4:54worry. Maybe a sensation around your
- 4:58chest and just imagine that melting away so that on your
- 5:05outward breath it feels like it's leaving your body no longer
- 5:11in you, just going out there into the air.
- 5:19And I want you to think of a colour that would represent a
- 5:24combination of love and courage. Maybe 2 colours like a spiral
- 5:33fusing together. And as you breathe in, just
- 5:37imagine breathing in that. Cocktail of.
- 5:40Love and courage, breathing in that resourceful feeling.
- 5:47And as you exhale, just allow any remaining anxiety, worry or
- 5:53tension and imagine it leaving your body, almost like Gray
- 6:01shadows leaving your body in that outward breath.
- 6:07And the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you become.
- 6:11And the more relaxed you become, the more your imagination
- 6:18awakens. And I want you to imagine how it
- 6:23would feel to be in a futuristic laboratory.
- 6:32Just imagine a scientist wearing a white.
- 6:34Coat. Showing you an advanced virtual
- 6:40reality headset, and when you wear this headset, you could
- 6:47imagine being somewhere else, but you're not.
- 6:52You're still in the laboratory, it's just that your brain thinks
- 6:59it's somewhere else, the scientist explains.
- 7:05Then the first phase is to activate a wonderful feeling of
- 7:15love and connection with animals.
- 7:21He asks you to put the headset on, and as you put the headset
- 7:27on, imagine being teleported, teleported to a place filled
- 7:38with fluffy dogs. Consider this place dog park,
- 7:47and dog park only has dogs. I want you to imagine it being
- 7:54filled with the cutest, friendliest dogs.
- 8:00As you walk around dog park, imagine seeing golden
- 8:07retrievers, Labradors. Perhaps you can imagine seeing
- 8:15poodles and doodles, Yorkshire Terriers, even an Irish Red
- 8:21Setter. You can see all these fluffy
- 8:25dogs, friendly fluffy dogs, and notice these dogs can be
- 8:36unpredictable and that makes them adorable.
- 8:41They can be playful, wanting to jump up or lick, and that makes
- 8:47them even cuter. I want you to get a sense that
- 8:54this is activating a wonderful feeling within you, a feeling of
- 9:03love, connection. Notice how you're smiling
- 9:10looking at these friendly dogs, and the more dogs there are, the
- 9:16happier you feel that these animals create something
- 9:23wonderful in you. And I want you to see the most
- 9:30adorable dog in dog park. The cutest face, maybe imagining
- 9:37it yapping or barking in a friendly way.
- 9:43Imagine feeling the sensation of the fur on your skin as you
- 9:47imagine stroking or tickling that dog.
- 9:54And the dog loves it. The dog loves your attention,
- 9:58your affection, your touch. And notice where in your body
- 10:05you feel this wonderful feeling and just make that feeling
- 10:11expand and grow. And at that point in time, I
- 10:18want you to imagine wiggling your toes at the point you feel
- 10:24this wonderful sense of love and connection.
- 10:30That's it. Wiggle your toes right now so
- 10:33that wiggling your toes in the future will make you feel this
- 10:38wonderful feeling. With animals.
- 10:42That's it. I want you to imagine the dogs
- 10:52are still there in dog park and remember this is just virtual
- 10:59reality, nothing real. I want you to imagine there is
- 11:04just a single feather there on the floor of dog park and you
- 11:10still feel wonderful, still feel confident and comfortable and
- 11:17just imagine picking up that single feather like it's
- 11:23nothing. Like it's just.
- 11:26A piece of paper or a stick and just imagine tickling the dogs
- 11:35without feather and they love it.
- 11:40You're holding the feather and the dogs like the sensation
- 11:46perhaps of the feather on their nose or on their bellies if
- 11:50they're lying down, and allow that feeling of love, connection
- 11:58and happiness to transfer from the dogs anew into the feather.
- 12:07So now the idea of a feather also triggers this wonderful
- 12:12feeling. And just imagine holding the
- 12:14feather and wiggling your toes and feeling that feathers are
- 12:20cute, just like dogs. I want you to think of the
- 12:29cutest breed of dog you can imagine.
- 12:37But I want you to imagine because this is just virtual
- 12:39reality. This incredibly cute dog with
- 12:44its playful attitude is a dog without fur and only feathers.
- 12:53It's a dog with feathers. I want you to get a sense that
- 12:57when you touch the feathers, it feels soft, just like the fur
- 13:02used to. And all the other dogs have fur.
- 13:06But there's just one dog, a smiley, happy, playful dog that
- 13:12just happens to have feathers. Here in dog park, you notice how
- 13:19much love and affection you feel for that dog with feathers.
- 13:27The fact that it's different doesn't make it less valuable as
- 13:30a dog, doesn't make it undesirable.
- 13:35It just happens to be a dog with feathers.
- 13:41And if you can feel that feeling of connection with that dog with
- 13:46feathers, just let me know by nodding your head.
- 13:57I want you to imagine it being maybe a meter or two meters
- 13:59away, trying to engage you, trying to play with you.
- 14:07Maybe it's got a ball or a stick.
- 14:10Maybe it drops it at your feet and then runs away hoping you're
- 14:14going to throw the ball or the stick.
- 14:17Just imagine this dog with feathers is like all of the
- 14:22other dogs. It just happens to have
- 14:24feathers. And I want you to feel that.
- 14:31Any sensation in your chest that is anxious is just leaving your
- 14:36body in your outward breath, breathing in.
- 14:41There's two colours of love and courage as part of you knows
- 14:47that there is something in your past that you want to get over
- 14:54to change. And what if this cute dog with
- 14:58feathers is helping you in the same way that a guide dog might
- 15:04help a blind person? What if this dog was sent to you
- 15:10to help you with a different condition?
- 15:15See it's playful nature, it just happens to have feathers.
- 15:22I want you to get a sense that by seeing the playful nature of
- 15:30this dog, suddenly the feathers become secondary to the
- 15:37personality and character of this dog.
- 15:46I want you to imagine a park right next door to dog park
- 15:52filled with tiny, tiny dogs, the smallest breeds of dogs or big
- 16:00dogs that have shrunk down. And just imagine dogs the same
- 16:08size as kittens in that separate park and they look cute and
- 16:17friendly. And just imagine spending some
- 16:21time with those friendly, cute tiny dogs.
- 16:27And when you feel that sense of love and connection with these
- 16:30tiny dogs, let me know by nodding your head.
- 16:37I want you to imagine these dogs can talk.
- 16:41And these dogs are also going to help you.
- 16:48These cute tiny little dogs. I'm going to try and convince
- 16:53you that they're an animal that they're not.
- 16:57So imagine the dogs running away.
- 17:01Just imagine a tiny little clothes shop or a fancy dress
- 17:04shop, and in there are pigeon outfits.
- 17:11These tiny little dogs go into this store and come out dressed
- 17:17as pigeons. They're not pigeons, they're
- 17:22tiny little dogs. Tiny little dogs dressed as
- 17:26pigeons. And every now and then you can
- 17:30see a waggling tail underneath that pigeon outfit.
- 17:35These are not pigeons. They're dogs dressed as pigeons.
- 17:40I want you to get a sand then. Even though they look a little
- 17:45like pigeons, they're not pigeons.
- 17:49I don't want you to feel that same feeling of love and
- 17:53connection of kindness for these tiny little dogs dressed as
- 18:00pigeons. And just wiggle your toes and
- 18:02feel that playful, kind feeling within you.
- 18:10And you could imagine five dogs or 10 or even 15 just dressed as
- 18:15pigeons. And just imagine with their
- 18:17little doggy voices trying to convince you.
- 18:23Maybe they're saying I am a pigeon.
- 18:28It doesn't convince you, but you think it's cute that a little
- 18:31dog is pretending to be a pigeon and trying it's hardest to
- 18:35convince you because they've got pigeon outfits.
- 18:42Pigeon outfits are made of feathers, real feathers, just an
- 18:48outfit of feathers. I want you to get a sense that
- 18:53these little dogs are trying their best to do impressions of
- 18:55pigeons. They're trying to COO, make
- 19:00those little sounds that pigeons make, but they're not pigeons.
- 19:03They're just little dogs pretending to be pigeons and
- 19:09notice. You can still.
- 19:10Feel that calm, comfortable feeling, a combination of love
- 19:18and courage connected to these these pretend pigeons.
- 19:27And one dog in particular has got a very convincing outfit
- 19:33that looks exactly like a pigeon.
- 19:36But it isn't a pigeon. It's just a convincing outfit.
- 19:43And I want you to imagine allowing that little dog to hop
- 19:48up on your lap or in your hands, and it isn't a pigeon.
- 19:54It just looks like a pigeon. I want you to imagine holding
- 19:59it, stroking it, giving it that affection, knowing that just by
- 20:07imagining it this close, you are eroding the very foundation of
- 20:14an old fear that you want to change.
- 20:18Every time you imagine touching this dog dressed as a pigeon,
- 20:24the fear gets weaker. Every time you imagine the
- 20:30sensation of your fingers on feathers, the fear gets weaker.
- 20:37Every time it's close by, the fear gets weaker.
- 20:43Consider this training at altitude, because in real life
- 20:47you would never hold a pigeon. Never touch a pigeon, but by
- 20:53imagining holding and touching a dog dressed as a pigeon, the
- 20:57very next time you see a pigeon you will come to the conclusion.
- 21:03Then, if in your imagination you can imagine holding a dog that
- 21:08looks like a pigeon, then you could imagine walking by a
- 21:12pigeon perhaps a few feet away. Allow your mind to upload date a
- 21:23belief. For a long while you believed
- 21:27that pigeons made you feel a certain way, but it was never
- 21:33the pigeon that made you feel that way.
- 21:36It was just associations, connotations and connections.
- 21:44And allow your mind to update those associations,
- 21:49connotations, and connections. I want you to feel that a pigeon
- 21:59is just an animal, and animals don't have malicious intentions,
- 22:06they just are. And I want you to feel that you
- 22:11are cutting a connection accord to a historical belief that's
- 22:18been holding you back. And as you imagine cutting that
- 22:23cord, feel that the historical associations and connections of
- 22:30pigeons are now in your past and not in your present or future.
- 22:36And when you're ready to cut that cord of the past, let me
- 22:42know by nodding your head. That's it.
- 22:50Just imagine some shiny scissors literally cutting a string, a
- 22:57cable, a cord, or a rope connecting to these past
- 23:01associations. At some point in your childhood,
- 23:06you connected the look or sound of a pigeon with something to be
- 23:12disgusted or afraid of. But that was your past, and ever
- 23:16since then that's just been playing out as if it's real.
- 23:23But now that the cord is cut, the connection only belongs in
- 23:30your past and not in your future.
- 23:33So just imagine still wearing this VR headset, but going to a
- 23:41future where it's only your past that created a connection.
- 23:49And imagine arriving. Arriving in Italy.
- 23:56Imagine being in Saint Peter's Square, not in reality, just in
- 24:01this virtual reality representation of Saint Peter's
- 24:06Square. See a magnificent cathedral.
- 24:11But now imagine seeing pigeons and feeling ambivalent, neutral,
- 24:20or even sympathy, but certainly no anxiety.
- 24:24Just imagine how that would feel, to imagine walking around
- 24:29this large square, seeing the magnificent architecture and
- 24:35feeling neutral, feeling ambivalent.
- 24:41The pigeons are there, but they're of no concern to you.
- 24:49Just feel that and make your way towards the cathedral.
- 24:56Imagine going inside and seeing the stunning interior of this
- 25:00cathedral and then imagine leaving back into the square,
- 25:06knowing that pigeons are there but they don't bother you
- 25:10anymore. Feel how you would feel if that
- 25:13was true, To feel that a connection has been broken.
- 25:24I want you to get a Sands done. Every time you listen to this
- 25:31recording, your brain is building new neural pathways,
- 25:39new ways of thinking to give you a choice.
- 25:44And maybe soon, or maybe later, your brain will choose this new
- 25:50way of thinking to either see pigeons as cute or simply
- 25:58indifferent, no different from a bird that doesn't bother you at
- 26:03all. If your unconscious is open
- 26:08minded to that new shift, that new connotation, that change
- 26:12either now or in the future, let me know by nodding your head.
- 26:21That's it, and you can wait for this change to happen.
- 26:29And maybe it happens in a dream where you imagine being with
- 26:33pigeons and feeling OK. Or maybe something surprises
- 26:37you, a future trip or holiday vacation to a place in a city.
- 26:45And imagine feeling a sense of confusion.
- 26:52A pigeon is nearby, but it no longer bothers you.
- 26:56And that may very well be the evidence that the change has
- 27:01happened for good. But for now, just remain open to
- 27:06the possibility. Can you imagine returning to
- 27:11that futuristic laboratory where the scientist removes this
- 27:18headset, but within wiggle your toes and feel that you can
- 27:26activate wonderful feelings and how you used to feel with
- 27:35pigeons as somehow changed maybe slowly or completely.
- 27:45Very soon I will count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 27:48But in this moment, take a deep breath in through your nose and
- 27:56out through your nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 27:58wiggle your toes. Start to connect and calibrate
- 28:01to the here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to
- 28:07awaken you. Starting to count 123 Waking up
- 28:13456. More alert 7-8 Open your eyes.
- 28:17Open your eyes 910. Wide awake, Wide awake.
- 28:22Wide awake. Thank you for listening to The
