- 1:56So next comment is heck g dot 209.
- 1:59They said what inspires you every day my inspiration every
- 2:02day as I look at the great people of our time and I think
- 2:04wow they did amazing things like Elon Musk and you know Bill
- 2:08Gates and Steve Jobs and people who've just an amazing thing.
- 2:12Things with life and I say I'm going to do one of those things.
- 2:14I'm going to be one of those people and people can look up
- 2:16and say wow Dan did it and that inspires the heck out on me.

- 2:26videos and I'm awesomely glad to be here, but I wanted to do this
- 2:29specifically for you guys because I know that you know,
- 2:32there's been a lot of issues with social anxiety people get a
- 2:35lot of issues or social anxiety and I'm no exception to the rule
- 2:39actually have had loads of social anxiety issues myself, so
- 2:41I really To share with you some epic acts that I use when I have
- 2:45like feel overwhelmed or social anxiety and anxiety in general.
- 2:49So we'll go through and right now also guys if you are a lover
- 2:53of podcast or blogs, I do have a podcast and a Blog so you can
- 2:56digest all this information over on my blog the ask me world.com.
- 3:00You can find my blog on there and my podcast if you just type
- 3:04in autism and Asperger's into any podcasting Network, you will
- 3:07find me on there and you'll see a lovely picture of me wear
- 3:09sunglasses on but yes, anyway, let's get on with the video.
- 3:12Dio so the first and foremost most important pack when we're
- 3:16dealing with social anxiety is exercise because what happened
- 3:21is exercise is good for this reason when you exercise it
- 3:24helps reduce just generalized anxiety, but when you're in when
- 3:28you're reducing generalized anxiety, it helps reduce social
- 3:31anxiety because social anxiety is a byproduct of generalized
- 3:35anxiety disorder, obviously a GED your aim in life when you
- 3:39have a social anxiety condition. Is to try to reduce the anxiety
- 3:44that you come across when you're dealing with anxiety.
- 3:48So if you have generalized anxiety and you have social
- 3:50anxiety because of that you want to just reduce that completely
- 3:53exercise is a great way to do that long walks gym workout
- 3:58running, you know, yoga Fitness cross-training Tai Chi martial
- 4:03arts and of these things riding a bike, you know, they could be
- 4:06great sources for you to kind of get your body in line because
- 4:10your body and mind work very very closely and they They want
- 4:12to work together. So you want to kind of get your
- 4:14body in line with your mind and that will definitely help reduce
- 4:17anxiety. It works wonders for me and I
- 4:19love running even at the moment. I can't run because I have
- 4:22Planters fasciatus. I think it's called because I've
- 4:25hurt my foot, but hopefully I'm on the mend and it should be
- 4:28back to normal very soon. Okay, guys.
- 4:30Number two is planning ahead what I mean by this is if you're
- 4:34planning to go to social situations, like social events
- 4:38social Gatherings parties family dinners Christmas.
- 4:42You know all these things are coming up.
- 4:43So why don't you plan ahead and what I mean by this is know what
- 4:47your goals are. When you go to, you know, when
- 4:49you go to an event or a certain situation, then you're presented
- 4:52with something that's imminently like, oh what I do.
- 4:54I don't know what the plan is to go to the bar and talk to these
- 4:56people and it becomes really anxious and then you don't want
- 4:57people going to say and he becomes an issue right and
- 5:01social anxiety can just run rampant all over you in that
- 5:04situation. If you plan ahead know what your
- 5:07goals are going to go there. I'm going to speak my friend
- 5:08Jenny. I'm going to go to the bar get a
- 5:10drink then I'm going to go. Sit down, we're going to get
- 5:12some food. Then.
- 5:13I'm going to leave by about nine o'clock and my latest my cap
- 5:16from like I want to arrive home by like 9:00.
- 5:19So, you know, it's planning ahead helps reduce this kind of
- 5:23stress because the stress will cause anxiety the stress of it
- 5:26will start you getting your lunches because you don't know
- 5:29you're doing but if you have a plan to stick to if you have
- 5:31like an outline planning ahead for events, I find this very
- 5:34very useful because especially with like parties or Christmas
- 5:37Gatherings and stuff because you can go so and say, okay.
- 5:39I know that I'm going to you know, excuse myself on the table
- 5:41and use the The the restroom if I need to just chill out and go
- 5:44my phone so I can just collect myself and then come back to it
- 5:47because that was very very helpful.
- 5:48And it wants that I was in my girlfriend's parent house when
- 5:52they had a big Christmas dinner and her sisters kids were kind
- 5:55of like being quite noisy because it's just kids another
- 5:57just doing whatever and then I got really upset by this because
- 6:00it was like too overwhelming for me at that moment.
- 6:02So I had to remove myself and I put myself in the bathroom just
- 6:05to calm down and really just chill and that really worked an
- 6:08absolute treat because it got me back to Grounded level came back
- 6:13to table everything was fine. So yeah, definitely definitely
- 6:16definitely plan ahead. Okay number three.
- 6:18This is quite exciting. I'm going to be showing five of
- 6:21these with you right now. And if you want to look back on
- 6:24any of these you can always come back to this video because I
- 6:25have written it all out in the description as well.
- 6:27So this is a very interesting one is called progressive muscle
- 6:30relaxation and what this is is where you kind of like you tend
- 6:33to certain part of your body like you tend to and I'm not
- 6:36going to tent and then let go and what this does is it kind of
- 6:39gets you focusing on that that movement that the what I feel
- 6:42Like what the tension feels like, I'm focusing on the
- 6:44situation if you actually squeezing to tense up what this
- 6:47does is it gets your mind focusing on that and not on the
- 6:52anxiety that's about to happen to occur or is happening.
- 6:55So if you're in an anxious situation, if you're socially
- 6:57anxious situation try squeezing your fist and then releasing in
- 6:59a squeezing fast as you can and then releasing I'm focusing on
- 7:02doing that. It's going to greatly reduce all
- 7:05that anxiety. I swear I swear I swear this is
- 7:07so so useful. So beneficial.
- 7:09It's kind of like diverting the attention of the Anxious part of
- 7:12your brain to something that's less destructive and just quite
- 7:16an interesting experience, I guess and it's very very useful.
- 7:19I find that any kind of exercise on muscle work is going to
- 7:22reduce anxiety. And this is like a tiny micro
- 7:24squeeze workout, which is definitely going to help you in
- 7:26the long run. I I just try it right now you
- 7:29honestly pause this video. Try it then leave me a comment
- 7:32down below saying dude, I did it work so well on done you lying.
- 7:35It didn't work because I know I'm not lying.
- 7:36I'm just saying it's just a joke.
- 7:38Okay, number four this one of my favorite ones to do and I have
- 7:41been doing Ever since I worked in offices, I don't work in
- 7:44offices anymore because their work on YouTube and stuff, but
- 7:46when I did work in offices, this is one of the main things I used
- 7:49to do. It's called a thought vacation
- 7:52and you know, your brain never gets a rest and it because of
- 7:56that not getting a rest it helped tends to help towards
- 7:59anxiety and then social anxiety. So what we're trying to do is
- 8:01give your brain a rest to reduce anxiety a thought vacation is
- 8:05where you just send your mind a little bit of location.
- 8:07You just kind of close your eyes or you just stare into the
- 8:09distance away from the situation of hand.
- 8:12And just think about yourself going on holiday are having a
- 8:14vacation or going to the beach and put the towel down and
- 8:16sitting down and getting that ice cream out and then, you know
- 8:19all the things that you can Compass doing a really relaxing
- 8:21time at the beach and when your mind goes to those steps of
- 8:24doing those things what happens is you have the same effect as
- 8:28if you were actually they're doing it because your mind is
- 8:30thinking or well, I'm doing these things.
- 8:31I mean I'm being fed. This this information is what
- 8:34I'm doing right now on the beach.
- 8:35I'm chilling out relaxing and having an ice cream or even a
- 8:37nice cold glass of water. And so if you do these little
- 8:41things It will also reduce your anxiety actually on the moment
- 8:44as well. I've tried this so if I'm in an
- 8:46anxious situation, I just think to myself about going.
- 8:49Okay. I'm going to think about, you
- 8:51know, just going to the beach and you know having a fun time
- 8:54and my anxiety just drops and dramatically reduces around that
- 8:58time when I'm actually doing it's like on the spot.
- 9:00It's amazing it works. So well definitely.
- 9:03Try it out. Well guys if you want to get

- 9:30now support this channel. I love you.
- 9:31Thank you. Number five.
- 9:32This one is the age-old on okay, it's mindfulness.
- 9:35I was like, oh, yeah, okay, but check it out mindfulness is a
- 9:38very interesting thing. It's the one that everyone
- 9:41always tells, you know, Anyway, I feel like general anxiety
- 9:44disorder. Every doctor in practitioner
- 9:45will say you need to get into mindfulness.
- 9:46You need to get into this that neither mindfulness is a it's
- 9:49good but what they don't tell you is the way to actually do
- 9:51mindfulness and it's very simple mindfulness.
- 9:55All it needs to do is divert the attention every day get yourself
- 9:59used to divert attention away from the the things that are
- 10:02consuming your mind to everything else that's around
- 10:05you. So this is how I would say to do
- 10:06it. Why don't you think about your
- 10:09feet touching the floor when you're walking to work?
- 10:11Or when you're in your car driving to work feel about the
- 10:13steering wheel heart feels on your hands.
- 10:15So when you're walking to school, which is the are feel
- 10:16like when you breathe in what's that?
- 10:17Like think about the sensation your clothes touching your body?
- 10:20What's that feel like these Sensations these things that
- 10:23you're focusing on mind on how to reset your mind and it helps
- 10:27distress like almost immediately.
- 10:29It's an amazing thing and it's not easy to remember to be
- 10:31mindful when you're doing things but I kind of try to set myself
- 10:34tasks like when I'm washing the dishes or sorting out my clothes
- 10:38or or getting my day ready, I think about the feeling of stuff
- 10:41like hounds Desk feel how does the the laptop feel how does a
- 10:44close feel my hands or what's the washing feel?
- 10:46Like what does it feel like when I'm moving the dishes into the
- 10:49cupboard? What's that feel like what
- 10:50ceramic nurse like what that squeaky kind of like clean
- 10:53feeling it. It's interesting when it change
- 10:55your brain to think in that way and that's an epically good
- 10:58thing. It really really is so I highly
- 11:00recommend trying it just try a bit of focus try to focus on the
- 11:04things that you touch and you feel and you see a new
- 11:07experience every day when you're doing your daily daily tasks
