- Jessica Figueroa: Hello, everyone. Here we are. My name is Cindy Marlar with the Just For Today podcast. At this podcast, we work on things together. We are a community of people who are committed to trying something each day that will add value to our lives. Something that might be new, some days might be new, some days might not. However, by listening to it every day, we can have this accountability and awareness of our own lives to bring value and improvement to our lives. So what are we doing just for today? Well, just for today, and if you're wondering, I base a lot of what we're listening to and reading about from Dale Carnegie's book, How to Stop Worrying and Start Living, also from the Bible and from Personal Experience. So what we're gonna work on today is boredom. So boredom causes a lot of problems in our lives, but often people think and you hear these things that, ⁓ we're so overscheduled. I remember someone telling me that busy means it's a acronym for being under Satan's yoke. But really the problem in our lives is not that we're busy as much as that we're bored. We're not filling our time with things of value. So I want you today to pay attention to where are you bored? And boredom is two things. Boredom could be something that is very boring, but boredom can also be a state of mind. Sometimes a boring conference just means you have to shift who you're sitting next to. Have you ever sat in a room with something that's being taught that's very boring, but sat next to someone you enjoy and then it's not boring at all? Because you guys have your own little thing going on, even if it's just you're not saying it, but it's happening. So where in our life are we finding ourselves so bored that it's causing its distress? Because this kind of distress, the kind of distress that comes with being bored, can cause a lot of problems, fatigue, worry, resentment. I want you to pay attention to those areas. And then I want you to think about things you can fill your time with that aren't boring. Like maybe is searching for something to watch on Netflix for you, is that painful? For me, it's so painful. And then I'm so frustrated because I'm shocked at how 30 minutes will go by and I only wanted to sit down and watch something for 45 minutes and now I've spent 30 minutes something. But once you pay attention, you learn that, you're like, I'm not going to do that unless I know exactly what I'm gonna turn on and watch. Where in your life are you bored? And then I'm frustrated. I'm actually frustrated that I spent 30 minutes searching for something and I only had 15 minutes left that I wanted to watch something. So pay attention today. Today, just for today, we're going to pay attention to the areas in our life where boredom creeps in and discover what we can do about it. That's it. We can't change 180 in one day, but we can learn. I'm really bored here. And is there something I could do about it? Can I change my mindset or my situation so that I'm not so bored? Because boredom can cause stress and fatigue. And we're going to avoid that. So just for today, we're going to pay attention to things that bore us. The ones the kind that cause frustration and resentment. Have a great day, guys.
