- 1:07Jessica Lewis: Today's quick win, the three step A DHD resets.
- 1:11Jessica Lewis: So when you're feeling scattered and overwhelmed, which is probably most of the time right now, right?
- 1:17Jessica Lewis: Here's your three step quick win to reset your brain.
- 1:20Jessica Lewis: First brain dump, brain dump anything that is in your brain.
- 1:25Jessica Lewis: Get it onto a piece of paper.
- 1:27Jessica Lewis: Sit by your computer and type it all out.
- 1:29Jessica Lewis: Write everything down that's swirling in your head for two minutes.
- 1:33Jessica Lewis: Just take two minutes and dump it all out.
- 1:35Jessica Lewis: Don't try to organize it.
- 1:37Jessica Lewis: Don't try to make it pretty.
- 1:39Jessica Lewis: Just dump.
- 1:40Jessica Lewis: The other thing don't do, don't try to find this journal or the perfect program where you can brainstorm and dump all, like forget about journaling.
- 1:49Jessica Lewis: Just grab a piece of paper and dump it on a piece of paper.
- 1:52Jessica Lewis: Doesn't have to be pretty right.
- 1:54Jessica Lewis: I.
- 1:54Jessica Lewis: That's the thing with A DHD is we're like, Ooh, I should brain dump.
- 1:58Jessica Lewis: Ooh, I should have a journal.
- 1:59Jessica Lewis: I should be journaling.
- 2:01Jessica Lewis: I should have a pretty journal.
- 2:02Jessica Lewis: What color would my journal be?
- 2:05Jessica Lewis: Do I want flowers on it?
- 2:07Jessica Lewis: Do I, does it need, do I want plain, like a bullet journal and make my own?
- 2:11Jessica Lewis: So right, we start going on all of these rabbit trails, and we just need to brain dump all of this stuff on a piece of paper.
- 2:17Jessica Lewis: All right, so one brain dump.
- 2:20Jessica Lewis: Two, after you have brain dumped everything on your piece of paper that you took two minutes to do, pick one thing off of that piece of paper and circle one.
- 2:31Jessica Lewis: All right?
- 2:31Jessica Lewis: Make it a doable task that will make you feel accomplished, okay?
- 2:37Jessica Lewis: A doable task that will make you feel accomplished.
- 2:40Jessica Lewis: Sometimes that could just be calling the doctor's office and setting that appointment.
- 2:48Jessica Lewis: Sometimes something like that will knock my whole day off and I'm not sure why.
- 2:52Jessica Lewis: I feel stressed and overwhelmed, and then I realize I just need to call the doctor's office and set that appointment.
- 2:58Jessica Lewis: I.
- 2:59Jessica Lewis: And then all of a sudden my day gets lighter.
- 3:01Jessica Lewis: It's little things like that that we don't know go, that's going on in our head that's holding us back.
- 3:07Jessica Lewis: So number one, brain dump.
- 3:09Jessica Lewis: Two, pick one thing that's doable that will make you feel accomplished.
- 3:13Jessica Lewis: And three, set a timer.
- 3:15Jessica Lewis: Give yourself 10 minutes to work on that.
- 3:18Jessica Lewis: Just one thing.
- 3:19Jessica Lewis: All right.
- 3:20Jessica Lewis: No pressure to finish, just start.
- 3:24Jessica Lewis: 'cause sometimes we call the doctor's office and guess what?
- 3:26Jessica Lewis: They're busy.
- 3:27Jessica Lewis: They're on lunch break, we call at four fifty nine and they have already left for the day and now it's the weekend.
- 3:34Jessica Lewis: It's okay.
- 3:34Jessica Lewis: Life happens.
- 3:36Jessica Lewis: And the thing is, we're learning how to be more kind to ourselves, learning how to be more kind.
- 3:42Jessica Lewis: Why is that so hard to do?
- 3:45Jessica Lewis: So today's quick win, your three step A DHD reset, one brain dump.
- 3:49Jessica Lewis: Grab a piece of paper, put everything down on the piece of paper.
- 3:52Jessica Lewis: Two, pick one thing off that piece of paper, and then set a timer.
- 3:57Jessica Lewis: 10 minutes.
- 3:58Jessica Lewis: I don't know if you've ever heard of the Pomodoro clock or the Pomodoro method.
- 4:04Jessica Lewis: It's just basically setting a timer for yourself.
- 4:07Jessica Lewis: It could be your, your phone, grab your iPhone and just say, Hey, Siri.
- 4:11Jessica Lewis: Set a timer for two minutes.
- 4:14Jessica Lewis: Set a timer for 10 minutes, and when that goes off, you're done.
- 4:17Jessica Lewis: Okay?
- 4:18Jessica Lewis: And you've gotten that far and you're accomplished and you can move on with your day feeling, feeling better about yourself.
- 4:24Jessica Lewis: And the great thing about learning all of these quick tips for ourselves is it's stuff that we can teach our kids.
- 4:31Jessica Lewis: The more I learn how my brain works, the more I can help them understand how their brain works.
- 4:37Jessica Lewis: Well, I hope today's quick win was really helpful.
- 4:39Jessica Lewis: I just want something that you can implement immediately because if it gets too complicated, we're not gonna do it right.
- 4:47Jessica Lewis: So let's keep it simple.
