- 0:12Speaker 3: Hello, and welcome to a very special bonus episode of
- 0:15Speaker 3: She's on the Money, the podcast for millennials who want
- 0:18Speaker 3: financial freedom. My name's Joanna Fleming, the beauty editor and
- 0:22Speaker 3: co host of Ajoor Beauty's podcast, Beauty IQU Censored, and
- 0:25Speaker 3: I'm joined today by my co host, Hannah First and
- 0:28Speaker 3: your finance friends Victoria Devine and Georgia King. Now, we're
- 0:31Speaker 3: experts on all things beauty and you may have heard
- 0:34Speaker 3: us before on our Beauty IQ un Censored podcast, and
- 0:36Speaker 3: today we're joining forces with She's on the Money to
- 0:39Speaker 3: answer your burning beauty on a budget questions so we
- 0:42Speaker 3: can hopefully come away with a greater understanding of where
- 0:45Speaker 3: we should be spending more money when it comes to
- 0:46Speaker 3: beauty and where we can afford to save some money.
- 0:50Speaker 3: It'll be a little bit of a relaxed Q and
- 0:51Speaker 3: a we might go a little bit rogue here, who
- 0:53Speaker 3: really knows. In traditional She's on the Money style, Georgia
- 0:57Speaker 3: King will ask our questions today and we will do
- 0:59Speaker 3: our best to answer them. Now, I'm going to hand
- 1:01Speaker 3: the mic over to Victoria Divine. Victoria, Hello, jo Anna.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Hello, for those of you who haven't met Joanna. She
- 1:09Speaker 2: started her career working in marketing and admin with plastic
- 1:12Speaker 2: and cosmetic surgeons while studying journalism. Like our friend Georgia King,
- 1:15Speaker 2: so she has a very deep understanding of skincare and
- 1:18Speaker 2: of professional treatment. She's been in the beauty industry for
- 1:21Speaker 2: almost eight years and has been with a Door for
- 1:23Speaker 2: almost four years now. Our other friend here is Hannah
- 1:27Speaker 2: and she is the glorious co host of Adoor Beauties podcast,
- 1:31Speaker 2: and Hannah is a Door's resident beauty newbie. Before working
- 1:34Speaker 2: with a Door, Hannah was traveling the world with just
- 1:36Speaker 2: one tube of JURLEYK moisturizer, washed her face with water
- 1:39Speaker 2: and used olive oil as a deep conditioning treatment, which
- 1:42Speaker 2: I'm sure we can all relate to and how times
- 1:45Speaker 2: have changed. Friends. Now, just like me, she's an absolute
- 1:48Speaker 2: serum addict, and again, just like me, is probably Aspect
- 1:51Speaker 2: Skincare's number one fan. As Joe said before, these legends
- 1:55Speaker 2: are joining us to help make sense of the beauty
- 1:57Speaker 2: messas you guys may have found yourselves in. So, without
- 2:00Speaker 2: further aduce, let's jump straight into our questions. Georgia King,
- 2:04Speaker 2: it is your time to shine.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Hello, Thank you Joe, you did way too good a
- 2:08Speaker 4: job of that intro. I feel like I may be
- 2:10Speaker 4: out of a job now, but.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I would love to be able to say that I
- 2:18Speaker 2: took someone from a door beauty.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I just don't think my tiny podcast is up for that.
- 2:22Speaker 3: So I'm not very good at numbers.
- 2:24Speaker 2: That's fine, that's fine, But let's like get into the
- 2:27Speaker 2: questions so we can learn a little bit more and
- 2:30Speaker 2: be a little bit more beauty savvy. I'm so excited
- 2:33Speaker 2: for this.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:34Speaker 4: So all of these questions came from our community as well,
- 2:37Speaker 4: and there are quite a few here, so we will
- 2:39Speaker 4: dive straight in, Ladies. The first one we have is
- 2:43Speaker 4: what skincare items should you invest in and which ones
- 2:46Speaker 4: should we choose the cheaper option for.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Okay, it's a good question. I like this question. I
- 2:52Speaker 3: get this a lot, actually, And the truth is that
- 2:55Speaker 3: the things that you can save on are generally the basics,
- 2:58Speaker 3: So your cleansers and your SBF there's always cheaper options
- 3:03Speaker 3: of those things. Your cleanser is on your face for
- 3:05Speaker 3: the least amount of time, you can find some pretty
- 3:07Speaker 3: good cheap moisturizes, to be honest, and with your sbfs,
- 3:11Speaker 3: even your sun sense ones are great. You don't necessarily
- 3:14Speaker 3: have to spend sixty bucks on a tube of sunscreen
- 3:18Speaker 3: for it to be effective, as long as it's an
- 3:19Speaker 3: SBF fifty. And then the things that you probably want
- 3:22Speaker 3: to invest in, Hannah, I think you'll agree is your
- 3:24Speaker 3: active serums, so your retinols, your vitamin c's, things that
- 3:29Speaker 3: probably take a little bit more science to formulate. That's
- 3:32Speaker 3: probably where I'd be spending the big bucks.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I was.
- 3:36Speaker 5: I said the exact same thing was I said that
- 3:38Speaker 5: you could spend less on a cleanser and a moisturizer,
- 3:41Speaker 5: but the two things that I would definitely invest in
- 3:44Speaker 5: are a good quality vitamin C serum. The other thing
- 3:47Speaker 5: I was going to say, Joe, was do you remember
- 3:49Speaker 5: when I bought that over the counter like prescription retinoid
- 3:54Speaker 5: that was really cheap in Thailand.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:57Speaker 5: So the reason I think the number one ingredient that
- 4:00Speaker 5: I would spend more on is retinal because retinol can
- 4:03Speaker 5: be really, really irritating on the skin, and as I
- 4:06Speaker 5: found out, you know, my skin just went completely red.
- 4:10Speaker 5: But you can get you know, good quality retinols that
- 4:12Speaker 5: are formulated for sensitive skin, and I would say that's
- 4:16Speaker 5: where I want to invest my money in so that
- 4:18Speaker 5: my skin doesn't have a complete freak out when I'm
- 4:21Speaker 5: using a more irritating ingredient. So we're on the same page, Joe.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Yes, I'm actually so excited to hear that, because I've
- 4:30Speaker 2: been on the podcast and I don't know if you
- 4:31Speaker 2: guys have heard it, but I keep talking about my
- 4:34Speaker 2: Cancer Council sunscreen and it is SPF fifty, but I'm
- 4:38Speaker 2: obsessed with it because I just really like the texture
- 4:40Speaker 2: of it under my makeup. And I was really worried
- 4:42Speaker 2: that you guys were going to say you have to
- 4:44Speaker 2: spend a lot of money on suncream as long as
- 4:47Speaker 2: it would broad spectrum. You're good, okay, all right. I'm
- 4:50Speaker 2: very very excited to hear that. And also on cleanser,
- 4:53Speaker 2: I'm very good at spending a lot of money on that.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I just feel like it's a really locksided.
- 4:57Speaker 3: I mean, I spend a fair bit of money on cleanser.
- 5:00Speaker 3: I buy like a fifty dollars cleanser, but the truth
- 5:02Speaker 3: is you could get the ordinary one for what like
- 5:04Speaker 3: twelve dollars ninety and that's still a great cleanser.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I really know that as well. I've got that at
- 5:08Speaker 2: the moment, and I found that, like I can't complain.
- 5:11Speaker 2: At the end of the day, you do wash it
- 5:12Speaker 2: down at the sink. So maybe exactly this makes sense
- 5:15Speaker 2: to save a bit of money there. But Georgia King,
- 5:17Speaker 2: given we have a number of questions to get, what
- 5:20Speaker 2: is our next one? Yeah, let's keep it moving. I
- 5:22Speaker 2: feel like we've got lots to do that a lot to
- 5:25Speaker 2: this episode two.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Okay, So second question, ladies, do we really need a
- 5:28Speaker 4: separate moisturizer for our face, body, hands, nails or is
- 5:31Speaker 4: that just marketing at its finest.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I don't think you necessarily need a different moisturizer for
- 5:36Speaker 3: your body and your hands or nails, but definitely for
- 5:40Speaker 3: your face. I would say your face has the highest
- 5:43Speaker 3: concentration of serbaceous GLAMs or oil glands, and your body
- 5:46Speaker 3: has less. So your body tends to get dryer. So
- 5:49Speaker 3: you'll find that body moisturizes or lotions are a mixture
- 5:53Speaker 3: of like humectin, emollient and exclusive ingredients. So that might
- 5:58Speaker 3: be nourishing oils, or it might have a balmi text.
- 6:01Speaker 3: You it'll be too thick for the skin on our face,
- 6:04Speaker 3: and often you'll find that in cosmoceutical moisturiz is like
- 6:07Speaker 3: one of our favorites aspect Fighter Stat nine that there
- 6:10Speaker 3: are lots of beautiful active ingredients that can target different
- 6:14Speaker 3: skin concerns and different skin types, and a lot of
- 6:16Speaker 3: moisturizes will be made for certain skin types and concerns.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Joanna, we were talking the other day, and you know
- 6:23Speaker 2: you will have to pry my photostat nine from my
- 6:25Speaker 2: cold ded boy, like it is my favorite thing in
- 6:28Speaker 2: this whole entire world. And I know you said that
- 6:29Speaker 2: you can save or moisturizer, and you definitely can, but
- 6:33Speaker 2: like that is one of my explurge items that you
- 6:35Speaker 2: cannot stop me buying.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Finding a moisturizer that you love is actually quite challenging.
- 6:40Speaker 3: So if you do find one that you love and
- 6:41Speaker 3: it's a bit more expensive, go for it. But like, yeah,
- 6:45Speaker 3: I mean, I'm I'm not gonna stop using Fighter Stat nine.
- 6:49Speaker 2: No, no, no neither. Don't you worry. But you and
- 6:51Speaker 2: I both Also you said something that a skincare junkie
- 6:54Speaker 2: like me understands, and that's cosmaceutical. But for those of
- 6:57Speaker 2: us listening who may be still you olive oil as
- 7:00Speaker 2: a conditioning treatment, could you please explain what that actually
- 7:04Speaker 2: means and why it's important.
- 7:05Speaker 3: So for anyone who isn't sure what a cosmeceutical is,
- 7:09Speaker 3: Basically the name comes from a blend of pharmaceutical and cosmetic.
- 7:13Speaker 3: So essentially, a cosmeceutical is something that you would find
- 7:17Speaker 3: range in a clinic, that's used in a clinic setting,
- 7:19Speaker 3: or has a high concentration of active ingredients. And often
- 7:23Speaker 3: these brands spend a lot of money on scientific research.
- 7:27Speaker 3: It's all about getting results in the skin. So they
- 7:31Speaker 3: do differ quite a lot from the things that you
- 7:33Speaker 3: can buy the chemist or the supermarket. And obviously that's
- 7:35Speaker 3: reflected in the price point as well, which we kind
- 7:38Speaker 3: of touched on with the aspect moist It's very pricey,
- 7:41Speaker 3: but it's awesome.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Absolutely, would you say it, Joe, Like, if you had
- 7:45Speaker 4: to choose between a serum or a cosmeceutical moisturizer, If
- 7:49Speaker 4: like you were on a budget and you had to
- 7:51Speaker 4: pick one or the other, where are you spending your money?
- 7:54Speaker 1: Therem I could adds to her.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks, Adah, Yeah, there you go.
- 8:01Speaker 1: That's my answer, and I'm the same, I'm the same,
- 8:05Speaker 1: all right.
- 8:05Speaker 4: So next question for you ladies, is it really necessary
- 8:08Speaker 4: to replace products at their use by dates, so like
- 8:11Speaker 4: when a muscara or moisturizer says used by three months
- 8:14Speaker 4: after opening.
- 8:15Speaker 5: I was actually going to let Joe answer this one
- 8:17Speaker 5: because she's much more down on the sciencey stuff.
- 8:21Speaker 1: What do you record?
- 8:22Speaker 5: I know that masca are because if you're using something
- 8:24Speaker 5: around your eyes, you don't want to keep using the
- 8:28Speaker 5: same thing over and over, particularly on an area like
- 8:31Speaker 5: your eyes. But Joel, handover to you for this one.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Yeah. So we recently did an episode with doctor Michelle
- 8:37Speaker 3: Squire on product storage and something that I taught Hannah
- 8:41Speaker 3: very early on was the little icon on your beauty products.
- 8:44Speaker 3: So there's a little icon on the back of your
- 8:46Speaker 3: beauty products under where all of the instructions are and
- 8:49Speaker 3: all of the ingredients are, and will generally say like
- 8:51Speaker 3: twelve months, three months, six months, and that gives you
- 8:54Speaker 3: a guide of how long that product will last once
- 8:56Speaker 3: it's opened. So that's once you've pulled the seal off
- 8:59Speaker 3: you started using it from then is how long that
- 9:02Speaker 3: product is tested to be safe for use. So if
- 9:06Speaker 3: it does start to go over that time, I would
- 9:09Speaker 3: be monitoring changes in the smell, in the texture, in
- 9:13Speaker 3: the color, of the product, and if that stuff does
- 9:16Speaker 3: start to change, that's probably a sign that that product
- 9:19Speaker 3: is starting to go off. But particularly with ingredients like
- 9:23Speaker 3: vitamin c's, they oxidize really quickly, which means they're affected
- 9:26Speaker 3: by exposure to air. So often those kind of products
- 9:29Speaker 3: will only last or be effective for three months anyway,
- 9:32Speaker 3: So there's no point in your using it after that, really,
- 9:34Speaker 3: because you're putting something on your skin that isn't really
- 9:37Speaker 3: able to do much. But when it comes to miscara, Hannah,
- 9:40Speaker 3: as you said, like if there's a build up of
- 9:42Speaker 3: bacteria with mescara, but also they dry out very quickly
- 9:45Speaker 3: because you're pulling the wand out and a lot of
- 9:47Speaker 3: people pump their mescara as well, and you're just pumping
- 9:50Speaker 3: more air in, so they get clumpy and they start
- 9:52Speaker 3: to not look as good as they did when you
- 9:54Speaker 3: first opened it.
- 9:55Speaker 5: Joe and I both say these is that mascara is
- 9:57Speaker 5: one of those things that you can kind of go
- 9:59Speaker 5: more affordable on. So both of us use mascaras from
- 10:02Speaker 5: Lorel Paris and Maybelene, and they're both I think Maybelene
- 10:07Speaker 5: they're like classic mascaras, maybe twelve or thirteen dollars I think, yeah,
- 10:11Speaker 5: probably around that.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's you.
- 10:14Speaker 5: If you want to go more affordable on the mascara,
- 10:17Speaker 5: there's some awesome mascaras that won't break the bank.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I'm obsessed with designer brands. For anyone that is like
- 10:23Speaker 3: into pharmacy stuff, I love designer brands. Obsessed with their foundation,
- 10:29Speaker 3: love all of their like eyeshadow palettes and all of
- 10:32Speaker 3: that stuff. They're so good.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. Like completely off topic and not on
- 10:36Speaker 2: the question list, but have you guys recently used that
- 10:38Speaker 2: Flower beauty range.
- 10:40Speaker 3: No, but we've heard about it. One of our guests
- 10:42Speaker 3: was saying that their lipstick is amazing.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, I'm obsessed with it. Like I went,
- 10:47Speaker 2: I think it was. Chemist Warehouse had like a fifty
- 10:50Speaker 2: percent off sale, and I was like, why not.
- 10:52Speaker 3: I love a Chemist Warehouse shout out we always we do.
- 10:57Speaker 1: We talk about them all the time.
- 10:59Speaker 2: So there was a fifty percent sale on it, and
- 11:01Speaker 2: I ended up just being like, you know what, I'm
- 11:03Speaker 2: in isolation. I'm playing with new makeup. Their foundation is flawless.
- 11:08Speaker 2: The reason I bought it is because there was a
- 11:10Speaker 2: lot of talk on the beauty forums that I frequent
- 11:13Speaker 2: which is probably a little known fact about me that
- 11:16Speaker 2: it is a dupe for the Amani Silk Foundation, And
- 11:19Speaker 2: I'm telling you right now, I own both and I
- 11:21Speaker 2: adore both. It is so good. Their concealer is really
- 11:25Speaker 2: good or whit it does oxidize slightly. And their lip treatments,
- 11:29Speaker 2: oh my gosh, the lip treatments, like I think it's
- 11:32Speaker 2: like ten bucks or less like money win.
- 11:35Speaker 4: The Ordinary is obviously the budget skincare brand. But is
- 11:40Speaker 4: it as good as we think it is?
- 11:42Speaker 5: I am because you said here about what are the
- 11:45Speaker 5: pros and cons? So for me, like the biggest con
- 11:48Speaker 5: is the biggest pro so because you're going to have
- 11:51Speaker 5: to read up on ingredients. So if you want to
- 11:54Speaker 5: use the Ordinary and you want to like use it properly,
- 11:57Speaker 5: you're going to have to get really skincare savvy because
- 12:00Speaker 5: each of their serums is a different ingredient and you
- 12:02Speaker 5: may need to lay out multiple theorems. So if you're
- 12:05Speaker 5: a minimalist, you may end up with more more I
- 12:08Speaker 5: guess steps in your routine because instead of getting one
- 12:12Speaker 5: serum that has nice cinamide and you know all the
- 12:16Speaker 5: different ingredients that you want, you just have the nice
- 12:19Speaker 5: cinamide as a serum on its own. So I personally
- 12:23Speaker 5: think that that is a good thing because I love
- 12:25Speaker 5: learning about skincare.
- 12:26Speaker 1: So that's just me.
- 12:27Speaker 5: But I remember when I first discovered it, I was like,
- 12:31Speaker 5: what is nice cinnamied? Like, I don't even know where
- 12:35Speaker 5: to begin, so you've got to start reading up on it.
- 12:37Speaker 1: It doesn't say like hyjation.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Okay, Hannah, but what is nice cinnamie?
- 12:41Speaker 1: Yes, Joel, hand that one over.
- 12:45Speaker 4: I trust.
- 12:46Speaker 3: I feel like you know it.
- 12:49Speaker 5: It's B three. So it's vitamin B three not B five.
- 12:52Speaker 5: That's right, Joe's pantheonoles. Yeah, so vitamin B three. It
- 12:56Speaker 5: helps with oil production and soothes the skin and protects
- 13:02Speaker 5: your skins barrier.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I feel like I got that right.
- 13:04Speaker 3: I did well done, gold Stop.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Gold Staff for Hamm.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I'm really impressed, but I'm definitely not in a position
- 13:12Speaker 2: to correct you with you correct So nice in am
- 13:16Speaker 2: I great? The ordinary?
- 13:18Speaker 1: Great?
- 13:18Speaker 2: But like, why are they so much cheaper than every
- 13:21Speaker 2: other skin care brand? And you know, how are they
- 13:24Speaker 2: able to be so cheap in comparison? Is everybody else
- 13:27Speaker 2: just taking us for a bit of a ride?
- 13:29Speaker 3: Yeah, that is a really good question. That's something that
- 13:31Speaker 3: comes up a lot, and just to touch on Hannah's
- 13:33Speaker 3: point as well, I think a mistake that a lot
- 13:34Speaker 3: of people make is just buying the entire range because
- 13:37Speaker 3: it's cheap, without checking that the products they're buying are
- 13:40Speaker 3: actually suitable for their skin type or are going to
- 13:42Speaker 3: target their concerns. You're just even if it is cheap,
- 13:45Speaker 3: you are wasting money buying unnecessary products that you probably
- 13:48Speaker 3: don't need. You might need five products from their range
- 13:51Speaker 3: to see good results, you probably don't need fourteen. But
- 13:54Speaker 3: I think that's a mistake a lot of people make.
- 13:56Speaker 3: But when it comes to the affordability of the brand,
- 13:59Speaker 3: they save money by saving on marketing, saving on packaging,
- 14:04Speaker 3: and by using formulas that are tried and tested formulas.
- 14:08Speaker 3: They're things that they're combinations of ingredients that we know
- 14:12Speaker 3: work well together, or they're isolated ingredients that don't require
- 14:15Speaker 3: a lot of scientific research to go into them to
- 14:18Speaker 3: be able to formulate them into an effective formula.
- 14:21Speaker 5: We had an episode with one of the co founders
- 14:24Speaker 5: and she explained it really well. She likened it to
- 14:28Speaker 5: your generic aspirin. So aspirin's been around for a really,
- 14:31Speaker 5: really long time. So when you think about that, single ingredient.
- 14:36Speaker 5: You know, it's been around and it's tried and tested,
- 14:38Speaker 5: as Joe said, so they haven't you know, the amount
- 14:41Speaker 5: of scientific research that needs to go into it.
- 14:44Speaker 1: It doesn't need it because it's tried and tested.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, And the reason that your cosmeceutical ranges are
- 14:49Speaker 3: more expensive is because it takes a lot of scientific research,
- 14:53Speaker 3: and that's very expensive when they're formulating brand new products
- 14:56Speaker 3: and you know, formulas that have never been used before,
- 15:00Speaker 3: or an ingredient combinations before exactly, and the delivery systems
- 15:04Speaker 3: there you go harder everything up. You act like you
- 15:07Speaker 3: don't know that, you.
- 15:08Speaker 5: Know you well, well, it's interesting because deacm, who own
- 15:12Speaker 5: the Ordinary, have a sister brand called Neod, and Neod
- 15:16Speaker 5: is at that like a higher price point, and that's
- 15:18Speaker 5: because they've got a lot of scientific research going into
- 15:21Speaker 5: these formulations and the delivery systems of their serums. So yeah,
- 15:25Speaker 5: even Decim have their own their own kind of sister
- 15:29Speaker 5: brand that's at that higher price.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Oh.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I kind of love that because that's like a money win.
- 15:33Speaker 2: You guys are essentially saying it's like buying, you know,
- 15:36Speaker 2: the home brand, because you don't get so caught up on,
- 15:40Speaker 2: you know, the branding and the marketing. You just want
- 15:42Speaker 2: the job to do the job. Like you're going to
- 15:44Speaker 2: go buy paracetamol. It's going to be the same active ingredients.
- 15:48Speaker 2: It's going to do the same job. It'll get rid
- 15:50Speaker 2: of your headache. But what you're saying is there's a
- 15:51Speaker 2: skincare brand for that, and that's kind of awesome, especially
- 15:54Speaker 2: for our community who are young. They are us, and
- 15:58Speaker 2: you know, we don't have endless amounts of money to
- 16:00Speaker 2: just spend on serum after serum, Like everybody knows this already,
- 16:04Speaker 2: but I'm obsessed with skincare, so the amount of time
- 16:07Speaker 2: I spend looking at it. But some serums can be
- 16:09Speaker 2: like hundreds of dollars, and at the end of the day,
- 16:12Speaker 2: that's actually not reasonable to expect that everybody in our
- 16:16Speaker 2: community is actually able to afford to, you know, spend
- 16:19Speaker 2: hundreds of dollars on ten different serums to have on
- 16:22Speaker 2: their nightstand. Like it just doesn't make sense. So I
- 16:25Speaker 2: love that. I love that so much. But George King,
- 16:28Speaker 2: do we have another question?
- 16:29Speaker 4: But we do so sidestepping a little bit here. Do
- 16:33Speaker 4: I serums and masks actually do anything? Are they worth
- 16:37Speaker 4: spending our money on.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Or are they just like really fancy things that we
- 16:40Speaker 2: can do and take photos of and put them on
- 16:42Speaker 2: Facebook and Instagram. Is that a thing?
- 16:45Speaker 5: I mean, Joe, you would be able to reference that
- 16:47Speaker 5: episode that we did on I serums that they're not
- 16:52Speaker 5: actually one hundred percent necessary.
- 16:54Speaker 1: It's nice to have.
- 16:55Speaker 5: But I would say for this question, is any beauty
- 16:59Speaker 5: necess Like, I don't feel like any view is actually necessary.
- 17:03Speaker 5: But I love a sheet mask. I just love them,
- 17:06Speaker 5: and there's even affordable ones. And I was going to
- 17:09Speaker 5: say the Larel Paris revit a lift filler, replumping and
- 17:12Speaker 5: smoothing sheet masks. They're really affordable and it's just it
- 17:16Speaker 5: really gives your skin such a big drink of water
- 17:19Speaker 5: when it needs it.
- 17:20Speaker 1: So that's my view.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Jo.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I definitely second your comments around the I Cream
- 17:27Speaker 3: Slash serum. I do have an I serum that I
- 17:30Speaker 3: absolutely love, though, and it's that Murad dark circle corrector,
- 17:35Speaker 3: and that actually made a difference for me and nothing
- 17:38Speaker 3: that ever targets dark circles really makes a difference. So
- 17:40Speaker 3: that was amazing. But we did speak to your dermatologists
- 17:43Speaker 3: that said that pretty much you can take your active
- 17:45Speaker 3: serums as long as they're not resurfacing under the eyes
- 17:47Speaker 3: and still get that nice hydration and plumping effect that
- 17:50Speaker 3: you would get from using an I serum. But when
- 17:52Speaker 3: it comes to masks, I always get asked what my
- 17:55Speaker 3: favorite clay or mud masks are, And I don't have
- 17:58Speaker 3: the skin type for a clay or mud mask because
- 18:01Speaker 3: I'm not oily, I'm not congested. So I think a
- 18:04Speaker 3: lot of people expect the mask that they see advertised
- 18:07Speaker 3: on Instagram to fix change worth of acne and it's
- 18:12Speaker 3: just not going to. Like, don't fall for marketing all
- 18:15Speaker 3: the time. Always do your own research and see if
- 18:17Speaker 3: that product is actually suitable for your skin type and
- 18:20Speaker 3: your concerns, because if I used a clay mask, my
- 18:23Speaker 3: skin would dry the f out, so I just prefer
- 18:27Speaker 3: to use something really hydrating. But I do love a mask, Victoria.
- 18:31Speaker 3: I am obsessed with the Aspects probatic masks, so I'm
- 18:34Speaker 3: sure you can back that one up.
- 18:36Speaker 2: I literally have it sitting beside me because my friends
- 18:39Speaker 2: that aspect were so kind and sent me a few gifts,
- 18:43Speaker 2: and that is one of them. And I opened it
- 18:45Speaker 2: and I saw it and I was stoked. Honestly, I
- 18:48Speaker 2: was so excited to see another tub because I'm nearly
- 18:51Speaker 2: out of my first one. But I also think, guys,
- 18:53Speaker 2: we missed a massive opportunity here. All of us are
- 18:56Speaker 2: Melbourne based, all of us are currently podcasting from home,
- 19:00Speaker 2: and we totally could have all been wearing face masks
- 19:02Speaker 2: doing this. I feel like we missed that opportunity.
- 19:06Speaker 5: I turn up to meetings with sheet masks. I turned
- 19:09Speaker 5: up with this s day Lord to do this power
- 19:12Speaker 5: foil mask, which is just it's like so lux and beautiful,
- 19:16Speaker 5: and I turned up to a meeting wearing it, and
- 19:18Speaker 5: I was like, hey, sorry, but like I've got something
- 19:21Speaker 5: on later I need to wear.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I need to put a sheet mask on.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, we don't. We don't do that. I mean,
- 19:27Speaker 2: I send my team skincare, but I've never actually said
- 19:31Speaker 2: to them, let's turn up to the meetings with our
- 19:34Speaker 2: sheet masks on Georgia. I just feel like next week's
- 19:36Speaker 2: podcast recording is going to look a little bit different.
- 19:40Speaker 4: Could be a thing.
- 19:41Speaker 2: I'm so here for that to it.
- 19:42Speaker 4: Just on the masks, guys, I actually don't think I've
- 19:46Speaker 4: ever done one, Like, are you okay?
- 19:50Speaker 1: Have you sorry? Have you even been in lockdown?
- 19:54Speaker 2: You're not living your best life, but also just call
- 19:59Speaker 2: something up here. Georgia. I've literally gifted you sheet masks.
- 20:03Speaker 4: It's still in my room. But so how regularly are
- 20:08Speaker 4: we doing though? Is that like a once a week,
- 20:10Speaker 4: once a day, once a year. Never?
- 20:14Speaker 1: I think once a week.
- 20:15Speaker 5: I mean I've overdone the masks and ended up with
- 20:18Speaker 5: like you know, you don't want to overdo any of
- 20:21Speaker 5: your skincare because I've been in that situation and you
- 20:24Speaker 5: end up with an impaired barrier. So I would so
- 20:27Speaker 5: once a week that's enough for me, especially if you've
- 20:29Speaker 5: got not that you do at the moment. But if
- 20:31Speaker 5: you've got a big event on sheet mask the night
- 20:34Speaker 5: before to prep your skin.
- 20:36Speaker 3: I would agree with that.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Great recommendation. Great recommendation because I also want to give
- 20:41Speaker 2: myself more permission to do more.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Sheet This is your permission, thank you, my friend.
- 20:47Speaker 2: But also the idea that we'll have been one day
- 20:50Speaker 2: again suit maybe so just to really attract you.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Okay, moving on now to budget friendly sunscreens that don't
- 20:57Speaker 4: feel greasy or heavy. We mentioned earlier. There's quite a
- 21:00Speaker 4: few that are affordable, but what are your go tos?
- 21:04Speaker 3: Well, my personal go tos aren't necessarily what we'd say
- 21:07Speaker 3: are affordable. I don't think how.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Do I vote them, although I want to hear them
- 21:11Speaker 2: all and we'll talk about affordable and not affordable, like
- 21:14Speaker 2: do you have a favorite though shes spill the beans
- 21:16Speaker 2: come on.
- 21:17Speaker 5: I'm sorry, but I this is the one thing that
- 21:19Speaker 5: I can't go budget on is my sun's screen because
- 21:22Speaker 5: I'm like, like you said, Victoria, I'm super fussy about
- 21:25Speaker 5: texture and finish. I've tried pretty much every sunscreen under
- 21:29Speaker 5: the sun, and it's such a personal thing sunscreen. So
- 21:34Speaker 5: I actually think, instead of saving on the SBF, why
- 21:37Speaker 5: don't you have your SBF be your moisturizer and your
- 21:39Speaker 5: primer as well. Ultraviolet do skin screens which have skincare
- 21:44Speaker 5: benefits and they work with with your makeup too, so
- 21:46Speaker 5: I think that is like a good option. I think
- 21:48Speaker 5: they're forty they're forty two dollars, but that's your moisturizer
- 21:51Speaker 5: and your SBF and your primer all in one.
- 21:54Speaker 1: So I use their Supreme Screen. Yeah, so I do win.
- 21:59Speaker 2: That's li fifteen bucks per product. That's pretty much Priceline prices.
- 22:05Speaker 5: Yeah, and you're getting the quality you will, I assure you,
- 22:09Speaker 5: like if you haven't used Ultraviolet Supreme Screen like it is.
- 22:13Speaker 5: Everyone that I speak to that's tried it, like, can't
- 22:16Speaker 5: go back once you go.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I've seen yeah, once I've seen all of the reviews online.
- 22:21Speaker 2: I think I'm gonna have to order some because the
- 22:24Speaker 2: people that do use it, it's like a cult item. When
- 22:28Speaker 2: it first came out, I tried to order it and
- 22:30Speaker 2: it was sold out on their website. And now I
- 22:33Speaker 2: think the hype hasn't died down, but they've probably been
- 22:36Speaker 2: able to provide more product. I should actually order it
- 22:39Speaker 2: because I'm such an advocate of wearing sunscreen twenty four
- 22:43Speaker 2: seven or when you're even going near a window. So no,
- 22:47Speaker 2: I think that's gonna be one of my team.
- 22:48Speaker 5: You won't well with this one. You won't feel like
- 22:51Speaker 5: you're wearing green. You'll feel like you're wearing a really
- 22:53Speaker 5: nice moisturizer. It's beautiful, yeah.
- 22:56Speaker 2: And it smells nice as well.
- 22:58Speaker 5: So this is the thing for me. I don't want smell,
- 23:00Speaker 5: I don't want taste. I don't want it to smell
- 23:02Speaker 5: or feel or look like sunscreen. I just want it
- 23:04Speaker 5: to be like a moisturizer. And this one feels like
- 23:07Speaker 5: a really nice moisturizer. This is my aspect Fighter stuff.
- 23:11Speaker 5: This is my version.
- 23:12Speaker 2: I feel like you guys are going to make my
- 23:14Speaker 2: skincare routine incredibly expensive because I've got my Spider stat
- 23:17Speaker 2: and I've also got my Budget Cancer Council sunscreen, which
- 23:21Speaker 2: I currently like, and I'm going to try a more
- 23:22Speaker 2: expensive sunscreen. And we just like slowly upping the ante
- 23:26Speaker 2: and having a little bit of lifestyle creep within my
- 23:29Speaker 2: beauty skin care range. So look, I'm not mad about it,
- 23:32Speaker 2: but like I probably need to control myself.
- 23:34Speaker 3: There's nothing like an investment in skincare, though, at least
- 23:37Speaker 3: when you're investing in skincare, you know it's a long
- 23:39Speaker 3: term investment. Just to put a little finance talk in there.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I love that.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I love that.
- 23:44Speaker 2: This is so Raley. No, I love it.
- 23:48Speaker 5: Or Joe and I always talk about because we we're
- 23:51Speaker 5: like always conscious of I guess prices when we talk
- 23:54Speaker 5: about things on the podcast, we always say cost per use.
- 23:58Speaker 5: So like if you invest in it, if you invest
- 24:00Speaker 5: in like a really good electrical item and it's going
- 24:03Speaker 5: to cause less damage on your hair, like it's a
- 24:05Speaker 5: cost per use.
- 24:06Speaker 1: I always think about it like that, just like a
- 24:08Speaker 1: cost per waar.
- 24:09Speaker 2: I think that that is absolutely fair. I'm going to
- 24:11Speaker 2: take it and I'm going to run with that another
- 24:14Speaker 2: question before we justify ourselves out of it.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Do okay?
- 24:17Speaker 4: So which products are essential in a typical beauty routine,
- 24:21Speaker 4: which order do we put them on in? And what
- 24:23Speaker 4: does a morning versus nighttime routine look like? So quite
- 24:26Speaker 4: a big question, so many guests.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Georgia Kings, that is a pretty big question. But I
- 24:32Speaker 3: think it really needs to come down to what your
- 24:34Speaker 3: needs are for your skin. I tend to avoid posting
- 24:39Speaker 3: my exact skincare routines because I don't want people to
- 24:42Speaker 3: go out and purchase everything that I use thinking that
- 24:45Speaker 3: their skin is going to need the same stuff that
- 24:47Speaker 3: Midan does because it's not always the case.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I'm never going to look like you like every product
- 24:53Speaker 2: under the sun to look like you, and like if
- 24:55Speaker 2: you post you just routine promise that goodbye.
- 24:58Speaker 3: I just get a lot of people saying like, oh,
- 25:00Speaker 3: can you post more of your routines because they want
- 25:02Speaker 3: to buy everything that I'm using, And I'm sure the
- 25:05Speaker 3: same goes for you, Huna. A lot of people want
- 25:07Speaker 3: to know exactly what you're using, but they may not
- 25:10Speaker 3: necessarily have the same skin type or concerns that you do,
- 25:12Speaker 3: so the products that you use really should come down
- 25:15Speaker 3: to what your concerns are and what your skin type is,
- 25:18Speaker 3: and you can be as basic or as complex as
- 25:20Speaker 3: you want to be, depending on your budget. As we
- 25:23Speaker 3: said earlier, like with the Ordinary, you can buy six
- 25:26Speaker 3: products from their range and that'll probably cost you under
- 25:29Speaker 3: fifty bucks and you'll still see some really really good
- 25:32Speaker 3: results and be taking care of your skin. Or you
- 25:34Speaker 3: can spend five hundred dollars on a cosmeceutical routine and
- 25:38Speaker 3: still have amazing results on your skin. And it just
- 25:41Speaker 3: really is personal preference as to what you use. In
- 25:43Speaker 3: a general sense with ingredients or products, I would be
- 25:47Speaker 3: using your antioxidants and vitamin c's in the morning with
- 25:49Speaker 3: your SBS, and then in the evening using your resurfacing
- 25:53Speaker 3: acids like your AHAs and glycolic acids and retinols at
- 25:57Speaker 3: night because they tend to make you a bit more
- 25:59Speaker 3: sensitive to the sun, so keep those at night, put
- 26:02Speaker 3: your vitamin c's in the morning with your SBF, and
- 26:05Speaker 3: anything else can kind of be relatively flexible, like your
- 26:08Speaker 3: hyaluronic acids and your vitamin BES can be used at
- 26:11Speaker 3: both times of the day.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I also have a question to just like weasele in here.
- 26:15Speaker 2: I've heard and I know this is true, but I
- 26:18Speaker 2: don't know which one of it it is. But what
- 26:21Speaker 2: skin care products can't we mix together? Are there like
- 26:24Speaker 2: some nightmare matches made in hell? I don't know.
- 26:27Speaker 3: It's more just around what's going to cause irritation on
- 26:30Speaker 3: the skin. So mixing your acids like AHA's with retinol
- 26:34Speaker 3: in most skin types will cause a little bit of irritation. However,
- 26:37Speaker 3: in some skins that are a bit thicker or they're
- 26:39Speaker 3: really accustomed to active ingredients, you could probably get away
- 26:42Speaker 3: with using those two together, and then probably avoiding your
- 26:45Speaker 3: vitamin c's with your retinols as well, because they are
- 26:47Speaker 3: both highly stimulating ingredients on the skin. So using your
- 26:51Speaker 3: vitamin C in the morning is that's a better time
- 26:53Speaker 3: to use vitamin C anyway, But splitting those up at
- 26:56Speaker 3: different times of the day. But there really isn't much
- 26:58Speaker 3: Elsey you can't used together, to be honest.
- 27:01Speaker 4: All right, We're getting to the end now, guys. So
- 27:04Speaker 4: question eight, what are the best value for money brands
- 27:07Speaker 4: that are also cruelty free? Because that did come up
- 27:10Speaker 4: quite a bit in the thread on our Facebook group.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Yeah, so obviously the ordinary are up there. You'd actually
- 27:15Speaker 3: be surprised by how many brands are cruelty free.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Now.
- 27:18Speaker 3: A lot of our favorite cosmeceutical brands are cruelty free,
- 27:21Speaker 3: Alpha h asap aspect, a lot of our Australian brands are.
- 27:26Speaker 3: And then you've got brands like Walida, which I love,
- 27:30Speaker 3: their skin food, Doctor Browners I use to wash my brushes,
- 27:34Speaker 3: but that's like a multi use castile soap. Grown Alchemist
- 27:40Speaker 3: is great as well, Hannah, did you have any.
- 27:42Speaker 5: Let's say, yeah, I had Salt by Hendrix was one.
- 27:46Speaker 5: That's another Aussie brand, yet one that I was going
- 27:48Speaker 5: to say that's actually look, it's not like the ordinary
- 27:53Speaker 5: price point. But Biology is a really good one because
- 27:56Speaker 5: their whole philosophy is you only need their one serum.
- 28:00Speaker 5: This is a really foreign concept for me when I
- 28:02Speaker 5: first heard it. But you just need one serum and
- 28:05Speaker 5: you don't actually put a moisturizer over the top, you
- 28:08Speaker 5: just use your SPF.
- 28:09Speaker 1: So if you're looking to pare back your routine, I.
- 28:12Speaker 5: Think Biology is a really good one that is also
- 28:14Speaker 5: cruelty free.
- 28:15Speaker 2: I love that idea, but you could not convince me
- 28:19Speaker 2: to get rid of my mind.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what we said. We spoke to one of
- 28:22Speaker 3: the founders and we were like, yeah, no, that's not
- 28:24Speaker 3: gonna happen.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:26Speaker 2: I love that. I love that.
- 28:28Speaker 1: No, I use them for travel.
- 28:30Speaker 5: For travel, it's really good because you only need to
- 28:32Speaker 5: take one serial when you travel.
- 28:33Speaker 2: That's actually quite Yeah.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I like that.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Maybe it does fit into my routine in some which way. Yeah. Again,
- 28:40Speaker 2: Cold Dead Hands pried out.
- 28:44Speaker 4: So I feel like we know the answer to this
- 28:46Speaker 4: next question. But is it worth spending money on cosmaceutical
- 28:50Speaker 4: brands like Victoria Johan Hannah's favorite aspect?
- 28:54Speaker 3: In my opinion, yes it is. But that's the background
- 28:57Speaker 3: that I've come from, and I've been using cosmeceuticals since
- 29:00Speaker 3: I was eighteen. I'm twenty seven now, so I still
- 29:03Speaker 3: looks eighteen.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Guys, if the results don't speak for them matter now
- 29:09Speaker 2: Joe looks twelve.
- 29:12Speaker 3: I really do believe in cosmeceuticals, and some of these
- 29:15Speaker 3: brands just put so much effort into formulating these amazing
- 29:18Speaker 3: products that have such an amazing impact on the skin.
- 29:21Speaker 3: I think when it comes to price point, though, Cosmeceuticals
- 29:24Speaker 3: aren't in reach for everybody, and that's a real shame
- 29:27Speaker 3: because they are amazing products. But that's where brands like
- 29:30Speaker 3: The Ordinary come in and can kind of meet you halfway.
- 29:34Speaker 3: But as we said before about The Ordinary, they're isolated ingredients,
- 29:37Speaker 3: so you might be having to buy five of their
- 29:40Speaker 3: serums for one cosmeceutical serum to get the same kind
- 29:43Speaker 3: of ingredient mix. So that's kind of how I would
- 29:47Speaker 3: frame my answer to that without saying how much I
- 29:50Speaker 3: really love cosmeceuticals, Manna, what do you reckon?
- 29:53Speaker 5: I was going to say, it's personal preference. Just for myself.
- 29:56Speaker 5: I've seen incredible results using brands like ASPN Aspect, and
- 30:01Speaker 5: I think for me, I find that I get less
- 30:03Speaker 5: irritation from using those products. And I also did skin
- 30:06Speaker 5: scans pre and post starting on like a whole new
- 30:10Speaker 5: Aspect routine because I had very very bad sun damage
- 30:13Speaker 5: and I was really blown away by the results. But
- 30:15Speaker 5: what I would say is the best ingredient that you
- 30:18Speaker 5: can use for anything like sun damage or anti aging
- 30:21Speaker 5: is SBF. So I think the thing that we've reached, Yeah,
- 30:24Speaker 5: I think the thing that Joe and I have learned all.
- 30:26Speaker 5: The thing I learned is that of all the ingredients
- 30:29Speaker 5: that you should be using, you need SBFC number one.
- 30:33Speaker 3: So there's absolutely no point at all in using cosmeceuticals
- 30:37Speaker 3: if you're not using an SBF daily. Yeah, there's zero point.
- 30:40Speaker 3: You're just throwing money down.
- 30:41Speaker 5: You're not protecting your face from the harsh Australian sun.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Yeah, we're on the same day.
- 30:46Speaker 3: You're looking a little bit guilty.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Over prevention is better than having a yes for it.
- 30:52Speaker 2: But Joanna, I actually do want to go back to
- 30:54Speaker 2: a point that you made before that was really important
- 30:56Speaker 2: to me and probably to the greater shees on the
- 30:59Speaker 2: money community, and that is that this stuff is sometimes
- 31:02Speaker 2: not accessible by everybody and this is such a luxury
- 31:05Speaker 2: to have. And whilst we're talking about you know, loving
- 31:08Speaker 2: our moisturizer and stuff like that does not mean it
- 31:10Speaker 2: is expected that absolutely everybody goes out and has a
- 31:13Speaker 2: beauty routine. Like, if you're interested in this, then fantastic,
- 31:16Speaker 2: but if you're not, it is actually a really privileged
- 31:19Speaker 2: position for us to be in to be able to,
- 31:21Speaker 2: you know, spend our income on beauty and skincare, when
- 31:25Speaker 2: that's a privilege denied to a lot of people. So
- 31:27Speaker 2: I just wanted to point out that we are you know,
- 31:29Speaker 2: we're all on this page together, and like Hannah, Joanna,
- 31:33Speaker 2: Georgia and I have had this conversation before where we
- 31:35Speaker 2: just know that we are so lucky to be able
- 31:37Speaker 2: to have these conversations and buy these products. But I
- 31:40Speaker 2: would hate for anyone in our community to think that
- 31:42Speaker 2: it is an essential to have this. It's not. It's
- 31:45Speaker 2: such a luxury. But yeah, that's just my little side
- 31:48Speaker 2: rand because she's on the Money podcast without a Victoria
- 31:52Speaker 2: Rant classic.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Okay, So I don't know half of the words in
- 31:56Speaker 4: this question, so wish to me luck our product the
- 32:00Speaker 4: way to go, or in order to best take care
- 32:03Speaker 4: of our skin, should we be getting certain facials done
- 32:06Speaker 4: at intervals as well? I'm wondering if the fuss behind
- 32:09Speaker 4: led light therapy, microcurrent facials, and microderm abrasion are legit
- 32:15Speaker 4: and something we should be looking into if if taking
- 32:18Speaker 4: care of our skin on a budget is a priority
- 32:21Speaker 4: for us.
- 32:22Speaker 3: A great job reading that question out, quite a challenge
- 32:25Speaker 3: that one. My answer to this one is that if
- 32:29Speaker 3: you have as serious concern that you're trying to treat
- 32:32Speaker 3: and nothing topically is treating that. For example, if you
- 32:35Speaker 3: have like pitted scarring from acne, for example, you've got
- 32:39Speaker 3: quite serious pigmentation, or you suffer from rosasia like myself,
- 32:44Speaker 3: sometimes topical ingredients just can't effectively treat those concerns, So
- 32:48Speaker 3: it would be worth going and spending your money on
- 32:51Speaker 3: treatments as opposed to buying all these topical products hoping
- 32:54Speaker 3: they're going to do something when in reality they may
- 32:57Speaker 3: not achieve the result that you're looking for. But I
- 32:59Speaker 3: do I don't think that it's necessary. If you're keeping
- 33:02Speaker 3: up and maintaining a great routine and a consistent routine,
- 33:05Speaker 3: and you're using your skincare daily or using your SBF daily,
- 33:09Speaker 3: you can really maintain quite healthy skin. But it is
- 33:13Speaker 3: nice to have a treatment every once in a while,
- 33:15Speaker 3: Like everyone loves getting a facial occasionally. I'm sure, I'm
- 33:19Speaker 3: sure it's not just us, but it really isn't something
- 33:22Speaker 3: that's absolutely necessary in a skincare routine. And a lot
- 33:25Speaker 3: of dermal clinicians and dermatologists will also say that a
- 33:28Speaker 3: professional treatment is nothing without the home care. Yeah.
- 33:31Speaker 5: I would also say that there's also a ritual aspect
- 33:35Speaker 5: of all of this, because I think something that I've
- 33:37Speaker 5: learned in Lockdown is that I don't need a manicure
- 33:41Speaker 5: and pedicure, but I really effing want one and I
- 33:45Speaker 5: really miss it.
- 33:46Speaker 1: And so it's not like a massage, like I don't
- 33:50Speaker 1: need a massage.
- 33:51Speaker 5: I've got nothing physically wrong with my back, but I
- 33:54Speaker 5: want one so badly, and I've had chemical peels and facials,
- 33:59Speaker 5: and it's for me. It's like the experience, and like
- 34:01Speaker 5: that the experience part of it. And I really believe
- 34:05Speaker 5: in spending money on experiences. That's why I travel so much.
- 34:09Speaker 5: So I don't know whether that's against the advice of
- 34:12Speaker 5: this podcast, but that's just me.
- 34:14Speaker 2: I spend no, No, it aligns to the value. Everybody
- 34:18Speaker 2: I podcast will know that. I'll say, if it aligns
- 34:20Speaker 2: to your goals and values, like heck, yes, get it done.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:24Speaker 5: So my one of my values is definitely that, Yeah,
- 34:27Speaker 5: I love to spend my money on experiences. So whether
- 34:30Speaker 5: that's you know, going to get a massage or going
- 34:32Speaker 5: on a trip, whatever it is. Like, I think there's
- 34:35Speaker 5: like a ritual aspect to going to get a facial.
- 34:38Speaker 5: So I mean it's a yes, it's a yes from me,
- 34:41Speaker 5: but you're right, it's everyone's got goals and different values.
- 34:44Speaker 3: So and you can learn a lot about your skin
- 34:47Speaker 3: by just going and having a facial with a dermal
- 34:49Speaker 3: clinician like you. Often they have these observed scan as
- 34:53Speaker 3: or busier scanners, and Hannah and I've both had these
- 34:55Speaker 3: skin scans done. It tells you a lot about your
- 34:57Speaker 3: skin that you maybe didn't know because you can't see
- 35:00Speaker 3: that stuff on the surface. So it does help inform
- 35:03Speaker 3: your decisions on products that you might buy that are
- 35:05Speaker 3: going to be effective on your skin, instead of wasting
- 35:07Speaker 3: money on stuff that you don't need.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Georgia, do we have any other questions or do you
- 35:11Speaker 2: think that Joe and Hannah are going to leave us?
- 35:13Speaker 4: We have one more and I'm actually pretty keen to
- 35:15Speaker 4: know the answer as well, So don't leave us yet, ladies.
- 35:19Speaker 4: What is your suggestion for fine lines and wrinkles to
- 35:22Speaker 4: people who don't want botox? Is there a mystical magical
- 35:26Speaker 4: serum or cream out there to rescue us?
- 35:28Speaker 5: I think I should answer this show. Yeah, as someone
- 35:31Speaker 5: that gets botox, I'm going to say that there is
- 35:34Speaker 5: no mystical magical serum or cream. And what I would
- 35:38Speaker 5: say about botox is that, oh I don't. I just
- 35:42Speaker 5: want to be honest, I and that actually does work
- 35:45Speaker 5: in a way that is magical.
- 35:46Speaker 1: That does that make I don't.
- 35:49Speaker 5: Know how to say that, because what botox does it
- 35:51Speaker 5: actually relaxes the muscles, so the lines will like magically disappear.
- 35:57Speaker 5: What I always say to people that message me on
- 36:00Speaker 5: and they're like, oh my god, what are you using.
- 36:02Speaker 5: You've got like no wrinkles on your forehead, And I'm like, well,
- 36:04Speaker 5: I get botox, so I wouldn't want someone to look
- 36:07Speaker 5: at me and think that that's a serum doing it.
- 36:09Speaker 5: What cerums can do is really help up what I've noticed.
- 36:13Speaker 5: And we always go back to j Loo is j Loo.
- 36:16Speaker 5: Yes she might get whatever she gets, we don't know,
- 36:20Speaker 5: but she has beautiful skin texture, and like, I think
- 36:22Speaker 5: that that beautiful skin texture and the health of your skin,
- 36:27Speaker 5: mine in particular, has been.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Improved by the use of high quality skin care.
- 36:32Speaker 2: So I thought botox actually just like stopped you moving.
- 36:36Speaker 2: But you're saying it actually changes your skin texture as well, Like.
- 36:40Speaker 5: No, no, no, botox doesn't change the texture of your skin, Joe.
- 36:45Speaker 5: Do you sort of know the technical It relaxes the muscles.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Yeah, So anything any anti wrinkle product will It's designed
- 36:52Speaker 3: to relax the area, so any dynamic lines or static
- 36:57Speaker 3: lines that are there when you're resting, it helps to
- 37:00Speaker 3: soften the appearance of them by relaxing the muscle. But
- 37:03Speaker 3: Hannah's saying, in terms of texture, that's where your skin
- 37:06Speaker 3: care comes in. And when you're seeing someone like Jalo
- 37:09Speaker 3: who's in her fifties and she's got this amazing beautiful
- 37:12Speaker 3: skin texture that's that can't be from botox or fillers,
- 37:15Speaker 3: which everyone loves to throw around like, oh Jlo must
- 37:18Speaker 3: get botox and fillers, So what if she wants to
- 37:21Speaker 3: get botox or Fillers's amazing? Who cares?
- 37:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I never understand why that's something I know. It's like,
- 37:28Speaker 2: oh cool, Like is she happy? Does yeah?
- 37:32Speaker 1: Great?
- 37:33Speaker 2: Do I want to look like Jayla fifty? Yes? And
- 37:35Speaker 2: if you keep listening to these she's on the money
- 37:38Speaker 2: and adore Beauty IQ podcasts, you're gonna one look at
- 37:42Speaker 2: but to be as riches her, it's gonna be fantastic.
- 37:45Speaker 5: What I would say the big magic though, just really
- 37:48Speaker 5: quickly to finish off with the biggest, biggest magic, stay
- 37:51Speaker 5: out of the Sun and U fifty.
- 37:54Speaker 3: I was going to say exactly the same thing I
- 37:56Speaker 3: was going to say. My answer to that question was
- 37:58Speaker 3: gonna be yeha.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Is that our number one takeaway? Yeah?
- 38:03Speaker 3: Yeah, honestly there is nothing so our number one takeaway.
- 38:06Speaker 3: There's nothing else we can recommend.
- 38:07Speaker 5: More sun is the biggest cause of damage I believe
- 38:10Speaker 5: for your skin.
- 38:11Speaker 2: And is that like a money win because we won't
- 38:13Speaker 2: have to spend heaps and heaps on skincare and repairing
- 38:15Speaker 2: treatments when we're older if we just wear sun cream now, if.
- 38:18Speaker 5: You just stay out of the sun and where you're
- 38:20Speaker 5: a SPF in your twenties, yes, exactly.
- 38:23Speaker 1: I guess that's it.
- 38:24Speaker 4: That's all we have time for today, guys.
- 38:26Speaker 2: So Hannah, it's over to you.
