- Jessica Figueroa: All right. Is everyone ready for another episode of Just For Today? I'm your host, Cindy Marlar, and today here on this podcast, we are going to set a timer for 10 minutes on your Apple Watch, on your phone, on your microwave, and you're gonna grab a bag. I mean a kitchen bag, a 13 gallon or bigger, and you're gonna give away as many clothes and shoes as you can in 10 minutes. I don't want you to overthink it, guys. I want you to give them away. Did you know that clothes make up the largest portion of our landfills? It's kind of a problem. We kind of have a problem with too many, too much. It's too much to make a decision when you're getting dressed. We were not meant to have so many choices of what to wear on any given day. And our bodies change, our styles change, our what we feel comfortable in changes, but we're still hanging on to the old. And on this podcast, we try to let go of the old and move into the new. So today, I want you to grab a kitchen bag, 13 gallons or bigger. If you're feeling real frisky, grab a black trash bag. Go contractor style. And I want you to get into your closet and I want you to put clothes and shoes into them. And then I want you to make peace with them. And once you get into the habit of doing an exercise like this, the magic is that you stop buying so much. Because once you realize and you give away regularly, go through your closet and shoes, it stops you from buying so much because you realize that was just I wore it a few times or it wasn't really my favorite. So this is a really important exercise I want you guys to take seriously. So set that timer. Get your trash bag, head into your closet. Once the timer's done, no matter where you're at, I want you to stop. And even if you want, even if you're tempted to keep going, I don't want you to do it. The problem is if you get tempted and then you do it for an hour, hour and a half, then you've told yourself it's an hour and a half activity. When a person with a healthy mind and in the habit of doing this, it's a 10-minute activity. Every once in a while. And then maybe once or ye every year or every other year, it's a big thing. But otherwise, it's just a 10-minute activity. Grab a few things, try to fill that bag in 10 minutes. And let it go. Cause we're moving on, aren't we? We're moving on together. I know you can do it. I know it's hard. You might have some regrets. You might think about one of those shirts you gave away later on and be like, I wish I had it. But you're gonna get through that feeling and it's gonna make you a better person. So just for today, we're gonna set a timer for ten minutes and give away as many shoes and clothes as we can in that time. I believe in you guys. I'll see you tomorrow.
