- 0:00Speaker 1: Ode to Autumn Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, close
- 0:06Speaker 1: bosom friend of the maturing sun, conspiring with him how
- 0:09Speaker 1: to load and bless with fruit the vines that round
- 0:13Speaker 1: the thatch eaves run, to bend with apples the mossed
- 0:17Speaker 1: cottage trees, and fill all fruit with ripeness to the core,
- 0:21Speaker 1: to swell the gourd and plump the hazel shells with
- 0:24Speaker 1: a sweet kernel, to set budding more and still more
- 0:28Speaker 1: later flowers for the bees, until they think warm days
- 0:32Speaker 1: will never cease, for summer has o'erbrimmed their clammy cells.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Who has not seen thee oft amid thy store? Sometimes
- 0:40Speaker 1: whoever seeks abroad may find thee sitting careless on a
- 0:44Speaker 1: granary floor, thy hair soft lifted by the winnowing wind,
- 0:48Speaker 1: or on a half-reaped furrow sound asleep, drowsed with the
- 0:52Speaker 1: fume of poppies, while thy hook spares the next swath
- 0:56Speaker 1: and all its twined flowers. And sometimes, like a gleaner,
- 1:00Speaker 1: thou dost keep steady thy laden head across a brook. Or,
- 1:04Speaker 1: by a cider-press, with patient look, thou watchest the last oozings,
- 1:08Speaker 1: hours by hours. Where are the songs of spring? Ay,
- 1:13Speaker 1: where are they? Think not of them. Thou hast thy
- 1:16Speaker 1: music too. While buried clouds bloom the soft-dying day, and
- 1:21Speaker 1: touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue. Then, in a wailful choir,
- 1:26Speaker 1: the small gnats mourn among the river willows, borne aloft
- 1:30Speaker 1: or sinking as the light wind lives or dies. And
- 1:34Speaker 1: full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly hills. Hedge crickets sing,
- 1:39Speaker 1: and now, with treble soft, the red-breast whistles from a
- 1:42Speaker 1: garden croft, and gathering swallows twitter in the sky.
