- 0:00Today's episode is sponsored by Being Sick All the Time and Having No Appetite.
- 0:04It's the cheapest alternative to a Zepic.
- 0:07This is a terrible tragedy, and our family is determined to prevent a separate
- 0:11tragedy from occurring, ruining the lives of these students.
- 0:14The wife of the husband who wants to drop the charges of the students charged
- 0:18with accidentally killing her husband.
- 0:21Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Starcast. I give you the news and maybe a laugh.
- 0:26I'm Lindsay Rimmick, and it's March 10th, 2026.
- 0:30Okay, sorry I started the quote today like a little intense,
- 0:33but I think it's just really crazy how forgiving this woman is willing to be
- 0:38because it was complete accident that this amazing teacher was killed in Georgia,
- 0:44and I just wanted to put a little bit of a light on that.
- 0:48So in real news, two teenagers were charged in federal court after throwing
- 0:53a homemade explosive device at protesters outside Gracie Mansion,
- 0:58which is the official residence of New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani,
- 1:02which is kind of very personally concerning because I live less than five blocks away from there.
- 1:09Police say the teens drove from the Philadelphia suburbs all the way to Manhattan
- 1:12and threw a jar packed with screws,
- 1:14bolts, and explosive material during a protest outside the mansion.
- 1:18But the device didn't detonate and no one was injured.
- 1:21Which, by the way, I don't understand why Philly teens are getting involved
- 1:25in New York City politics.
- 1:27Like, why don't you try bombing your own mayor first?
- 1:30Authorities say the bomb tested positive for TATP, which is a highly volatile
- 1:35explosive used in multiple terrorist attacks over the past decade.
- 1:39Investigators say the two men told police they've been inspired by ISIS propaganda
- 1:44and pledged allegiance to the group.
- 1:47Police say if the device had exploited, it could have caused serious casualties.
- 1:51The teens are now facing federal terrorism charges.
- 1:55A California startup called Reflect Orbital is seeking federal approval to launch
- 1:59satellites equipped with giant mirrors that would reflect sunlight back to Earth at night.
- 2:05Think mirror on the ceilings, but to literally the Earth.
- 2:09The company says the mirrors could help power solar farms after sunset and provide
- 2:14light for emergencies or city streets.
- 2:17The first test satellite, which could launch this summer if approved by the
- 2:21Federal Communications Commission, would deploy a mirror literally 60 feet wide
- 2:26in orbit, about 400 miles above Earth.
- 2:29The reflected light would create a beam roughly three miles across,
- 2:33appearing as bright as a full moon.
- 2:35But scientists say the idea raises major concerns, to put it lightly.
- 2:40Astronomers warn the mirrors could interfere with telescopes and further crawl
- 2:45the night sky, while biologists say artificial light at night could disrupt
- 2:50wildlife, migration patterns, and human sleep cycles.
- 2:53Think mirror on the ceilings, but you can't even see anything at all and just
- 2:58completely destroying your life.
- 3:00Despite everything, the company hopes to eventually launch thousands of these
- 3:04mirror satellites over the next decade.
- 3:07Okay, moving on. People are discovering that a seat sold as a window seat sometimes
- 3:12comes with one small problem. There's no window.
- 3:16On some planes, seat 11A lines up with an air conditioning duct,
- 3:21meaning people who book the window seat end up having a blank wall instead.
- 3:27The surprise usually happens after they board and sit down, when there's not
- 3:33much anyone can do anything about it.
- 3:35The seat has become something of an internet joke.
- 3:39Airlines like Ryanair will even make fun of people who complain about it online.
- 3:44But some people aren't laughing.
- 3:46People have filed class action lawsuits against Delta Airlines and United,
- 3:51arguing if they pay extra for a window seat, there should probably be an actual window.
- 3:57And that is why I will always pay the bare minimum and always click on choose your own seat.
- 4:02In Lindsay life, I know I'm truly doing the thing in New York City when I'm
- 4:08at an open mic in a cafe and people are typing away on their laptops acting
- 4:12like nothing around them is happening.
- 4:15Lindsay lessons, a lesson by Linz. If you put a shirt on with a stain on it,
- 4:20pretend you just got it earlier that day and just continue wearing it.
- 4:27Cooking tip of the day. Bread in the air fryer is the best toast.
