- 0:00Speaker 1: She's on the Money.
- 0:02Speaker 2: She's on the Money.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money's Friday Drinks,
- 0:21Speaker 3: the podcast millennials who want to wind down after a
- 0:23Speaker 3: long week of learning about finance. Today on this show,
- 0:27Speaker 3: we are going to be jumping straight into talking about
- 0:30Speaker 3: money wins, the community, and some sweet, sweet cash money.
- 0:33Speaker 1: This week though, I am joined by Georgia King, Hello.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Our favorite friend who helps us every single Wednesday bring
- 0:41Speaker 3: our pod to life, and Jessica, who happens to be
- 0:45Speaker 3: our absolute content wizard here Actually's on the Money.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Jessica, Welcome back for another episode.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Hello friends.
- 0:52Speaker 3: So last week, Georgia, I introduced you guys to one
- 0:55Speaker 3: of my true loves from when I was sixteen, not
- 0:59Speaker 3: but I would have drunk them at sixteen. For those
- 1:01Speaker 3: of you playing along home, the Guava Cruiser. And how
- 1:05Speaker 3: did we rate that we walked away from that feeling
- 1:08Speaker 3: how oh solid?
- 1:10Speaker 4: Yeah? I felt young again. I felt sixteen, ready to
- 1:14Speaker 4: go toy sixteenth. That was a big night for me
- 1:17Speaker 4: on the cruisers. Anyway, that's a real flashback. But I
- 1:20Speaker 4: loved them, and you were right, Guava really was the
- 1:22Speaker 4: best flavor.
- 1:23Speaker 1: It is the supreme flavor. I do believe. I feel
- 1:25Speaker 1: like everyone's like Buzzbrie. I'm like, no, no, friend, you.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Have not leaved Tuava's wear.
- 1:30Speaker 1: It's are But this week, Georgia, you've got a flashback
- 1:33Speaker 1: for us.
- 1:33Speaker 4: I do okay, what have you introduced literally to today?
- 1:36Speaker 1: I haven't.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I haven't tried it yet. I've drunk them before, but
- 1:40Speaker 3: this will be the first time in more than ten years.
- 1:44Speaker 4: So what we're drinking tonight, my friends, is the old
- 1:48Speaker 4: Lemon Rosky, so the classic stolly drink. Tastes like solo
- 1:52Speaker 4: but a bit of fun, and.
- 1:53Speaker 1: That tastes like solow.
- 1:55Speaker 4: It's a really good way of exposing.
- 1:57Speaker 1: That's the best.
- 1:57Speaker 4: It's the only way.
- 1:58Speaker 1: And you've never had one, have you?
- 1:59Speaker 4: J No, I'm very excited.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Last week was also my first Guava Cruiser, so I
- 2:04Speaker 5: feel like the pot is really just opening up my
- 2:06Speaker 5: eyes to a whole new world of.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Beverages, responsible drinking as always friends.
- 2:11Speaker 4: But my mom loves Ruskies as well.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I feel like it's a mum drink. I feel like
- 2:17Speaker 3: my mum used to drink Ruskies as well. But you
- 2:19Speaker 3: know what I'm really liking about this bottle. It's as
- 2:21Speaker 3: imported Russian. It says imported vodka, but then in brackets.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Because not Russian Russian stuff.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Why did you have to stipulate that?
- 2:31Speaker 4: Like?
- 2:31Speaker 3: What about this makes anybody think that it was going
- 2:35Speaker 3: to be Russian?
- 2:36Speaker 4: Because vodka is obviously always Russian and maybe it rusky.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Maybe maybe it used to be. Maybe it used to
- 2:42Speaker 3: be I don't know, But let's move on. This has
- 2:45Speaker 3: been a really fun time. I'm going to continue to
- 2:47Speaker 3: drink my drink. But you know what, We're going to
- 2:49Speaker 3: start this week off with money wins. Georgia, you get
- 2:51Speaker 3: to kick us off. We have each and every single
- 2:54Speaker 3: week now a thread in our Facebook group of people's
- 2:58Speaker 3: money wins, and every single week we got through and pick.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Out our favorites. What was yours this week?
- 3:03Speaker 4: Okay? So mineus from the Lovely Kelsey who's written. After
- 3:07Speaker 4: years of manually transferring my dollary dues to their allocated
- 3:10Speaker 4: accounts after each payday, I finally have automated this process.
- 3:14Speaker 4: This has already tapped into my relationship with money. I've
- 3:17Speaker 4: been less tempted to dip into other accounts. I have
- 3:19Speaker 4: hidden most accounts, which has minimized the temptation to dip
- 3:22Speaker 4: and she says she used to spend so much money
- 3:24Speaker 4: on food and now she's way more mindful of what
- 3:26Speaker 4: she's eating and what she's spending. And I think that
- 3:28Speaker 4: is brilliant.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I also think that's brilliant.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Do you see a lot of people doing this? Is
- 3:32Speaker 4: this like a tried and true way of managing your
- 3:35Speaker 4: money on a daily basis?
- 3:36Speaker 3: Everything works for different people, but I think that's a
- 3:38Speaker 3: great way of doing it. And to be honest, that's
- 3:40Speaker 3: what I love about our community. You get so many
- 3:42Speaker 3: different options and so many different views from different people.
- 3:45Speaker 3: And even if it doesn't work for you, that's cool.
- 3:48Speaker 3: You just learn a different way of doing something that
- 3:50Speaker 3: might work for a friend or a family member or
- 3:52Speaker 3: even future you. Maybe it's also kind of pervy. I
- 3:54Speaker 3: feel like everyone always enjoys listening to how other people
- 3:57Speaker 3: manage their every day spending, right, Yes, you know how
- 4:00Speaker 3: people do on Instagram day in the life videos, Like
- 4:04Speaker 3: they're like, oh, today, I'm going to do a day
- 4:05Speaker 3: in the life.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Flog content creator jumping in here. Do we want a
- 4:08Speaker 5: day in the life of Victoria divine in the office?
- 4:11Speaker 4: Please let us know.
- 4:13Speaker 3: I will counter off of that and say a day
- 4:15Speaker 3: in the life of Lucy the Golden Sheep dude. Mainly
- 4:19Speaker 3: it's sleeping under desks and then going to the park
- 4:21Speaker 3: at lunchtime. Ten out of ten life. But that's not
- 4:25Speaker 3: what I'm talking about. Imagine if you got to do
- 4:27Speaker 3: on the She's on the Money Instagram stories a day
- 4:29Speaker 3: in the life, like spending edition.
- 4:32Speaker 4: And like like takeovers and stuff of different people around
- 4:35Speaker 4: the joint.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Like, and people would record stories for us and then
- 4:39Speaker 3: we could share them of them, being like, this is
- 4:42Speaker 3: what I've been spending today, here's my tracker.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 4:44Speaker 3: That's a wild idea, but that could be so fun
- 4:47Speaker 3: and so pervy.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Well, it's like an intense version of a money diary.
- 4:50Speaker 4: It's just like a smaller version. I guess. Like people
- 4:53Speaker 4: love our money diaries, and I think that is actually
- 4:55Speaker 4: a brilliant.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I love our money diaries. That's why I bring them
- 4:58Speaker 3: to you every single week. I'm obsessed.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Anyway, Anya Kelsey, thank you for sharing your money win.
- 5:04Speaker 4: I'm sorry for saying, oh ya, Now I think it's
- 5:07Speaker 4: Jessica's turn to share a money win from the group.
- 5:09Speaker 1: What have you got?
- 5:10Speaker 5: Jess Mine is from our friend Milana, which firstly gorgeous name.
- 5:14Speaker 5: But she got a Marino wool coat for winter, originally
- 5:18Speaker 5: fourteen hundred dollars down to three hundred and twenty, which
- 5:21Speaker 5: means she saved over a grand, which is massive, especially
- 5:25Speaker 5: for Marino. Like, I'm a bit of a fabric snob.
- 5:29Speaker 5: I'm all about, you know, a little bit more money,
- 5:31Speaker 5: a little bit nice equality, And I think that's huge.
- 5:34Speaker 5: A Marino coat for three twenty, Like.
- 5:36Speaker 4: That's a hot deal. That's a hot deal.
- 5:38Speaker 1: That's still a really bloody expensive coat.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Bye, I feel like three hundred is what I would
- 5:43Speaker 4: spend for like a nice coat. I yeah, Like I
- 5:45Speaker 4: feel like I have coats that I bought literally a
- 5:48Speaker 4: decade ago.
- 5:48Speaker 5: So I think, like, if you think about your cost
- 5:50Speaker 5: per ware, it's you know a little bit more reasonable.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Yes to big outlay, but I mean, girl, get that sale.
- 5:56Speaker 5: I'm all about it. I'm an enabler. Though, as Victorian knows.
- 6:00Speaker 3: I don't think I want to weigh in on this
- 6:02Speaker 3: because as much as I just said that the coat
- 6:03Speaker 3: was really expensive, like I'm a fine fishoes and they
- 6:06Speaker 3: have less practical application than a coach, So.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, let's move on.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I love that though, and it looks gorgeous. You've just
- 6:13Speaker 3: shown us a photo of it. Ten out of ten
- 6:15Speaker 3: oddwear all that is? She yeah, very nice, very well
- 6:18Speaker 3: those of you wondering if I have a favorite, which
- 6:21Speaker 3: you're not, but I'm gonna share anyway.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I do, and it is from our.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Friend Priscilla, And Priscilla says, and you guys are gonna
- 6:28Speaker 3: know instantly why I've chosen this one, she says, Oat
- 6:31Speaker 3: Milk queen. Oh yeah, see see we started off on
- 6:34Speaker 3: the best of feet, she said. I went to cancel
- 6:37Speaker 3: my Vegan Goodness Me box subscription to save money, but
- 6:40Speaker 3: realized I've been racking up points for the past year
- 6:42Speaker 3: or so managed to get a case of six minute
- 6:45Speaker 3: figures Oat Milks for free.
- 6:48Speaker 1: She says. She's pretty happy about that, and I would
- 6:51Speaker 1: be too, my friend.
- 6:52Speaker 3: That's good And we all know I stan minor figures
- 6:56Speaker 3: like I am obsessed with them. It has absolutely nothing
- 6:59Speaker 3: like never even sponsored us.
- 7:01Speaker 4: I don't need to be sponsoredble no talk about them
- 7:03Speaker 4: every hi.
- 7:03Speaker 3: I'm gonna stop talking about them.
- 7:05Speaker 4: I was just gonna say, we get DMS about minor figures.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Now. I love that Oat Milk is so on brand
- 7:11Speaker 5: for us that the community when they see it on sale,
- 7:14Speaker 5: or someone saw a really cool like refillable Minor Figures
- 7:19Speaker 5: machine like you take like sustainable, you take your little
- 7:22Speaker 5: milk bottle and Minor Figures will refill it for you
- 7:25Speaker 5: and they DM just a photo and I was like,
- 7:27Speaker 5: that's that's outstanding.
- 7:29Speaker 3: I can't even I want to. I'm gonna look that
- 7:31Speaker 3: up later. I am obviously obsessed with them, But like,
- 7:35Speaker 3: can Oat milk become a part of my personality?
- 7:38Speaker 4: I think it already is, though, But maybe you could
- 7:40Speaker 4: look into getting like a milk tap for the office
- 7:42Speaker 4: and Oat milk Minor Figures. Let's look into it.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Kind of do you know what? You know what I'm
- 7:47Speaker 1: gonna do.
- 7:47Speaker 3: I'm just gonna get you a bar friadge and put
- 7:48Speaker 3: a sticker of Minor Figures on the front and have
- 7:50Speaker 3: about that. That's a good settlement come from. You're not
- 7:53Speaker 3: getting a milk tatter, all right? Well, we never promised
- 7:57Speaker 3: we would have our stuff together on the Friday episodes,
- 8:00Speaker 3: but you know what we do promise. We do promise
- 8:02Speaker 3: some level of structure, and given that we have that structure,
- 8:06Speaker 3: we are actually going to start talking about our money wins.
- 8:10Speaker 3: All confessions from this week which is arguably one of
- 8:12Speaker 3: my favorite parts of the week because it makes me
- 8:15Speaker 3: feel a little bit better about my spending habits most
- 8:18Speaker 3: of the time. So let's just throw Jess straight under
- 8:21Speaker 3: the bus. Jess, what is yours this week? Mine is
- 8:24Speaker 3: a bit of a team money win. This week we
- 8:27Speaker 3: have you may have seen on the IG stories if
- 8:29Speaker 3: you've been tuning in, re decorating the office a little bit,
- 8:33Speaker 3: just kind of sprucing things up. And obviously the plants.
- 8:37Speaker 3: We all we love a plant, we really do.
- 8:41Speaker 5: Quite close to our office, I would say, within very
- 8:44Speaker 5: reasonable proximity, there is a beautiful wall of Devil's ivy,
- 8:49Speaker 5: Like the ivy has grown to be like a literal
- 8:52Speaker 5: room divide stun So what we did was.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Are you literally going to throw us under the.
- 9:02Speaker 5: No?
- 9:02Speaker 1: No, no.
- 9:03Speaker 5: We may have walked past and liberated a few pieces
- 9:08Speaker 5: of this plant and brought them home to the office
- 9:11Speaker 5: and pop them in some water to propagate.
- 9:13Speaker 4: And then George.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Georgia learned about propagation this week too, a bus guard.
- 9:19Speaker 1: It was a learning experience for everyone.
- 9:20Speaker 5: And then you came and we showed you, and then
- 9:22Speaker 5: we went back to the plant and.
- 9:25Speaker 4: We collected them for George took them home on the train.
- 9:29Speaker 1: No, but money.
- 9:30Speaker 5: Wein free plants, and then you can just not free.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Yes, they are not free plants. You stole those plants.
- 9:42Speaker 4: I much prefer the term liberated. It wasn't from like
- 9:47Speaker 4: the botanical gardens or anything like that, so don't at Jess.
- 9:51Speaker 3: No, it was all above but it was all very
- 9:53Speaker 3: above board, and we did take small clippings of it
- 9:56Speaker 3: so that we could propagate and grow.
- 9:59Speaker 1: And you know, maybe enhance our space a little bit.
- 10:02Speaker 3: In a very frugal way. Frugal Queens, I would say.
- 10:06Speaker 3: But thanks Jess for joining the team and letting everybody
- 10:10Speaker 3: know that we're thieves. Georgia, have you got something to
- 10:13Speaker 3: back that up or are you also going to talk
- 10:15Speaker 3: about stealing something Mine?
- 10:17Speaker 4: Is so boring, but it doesn't involve theft, which I
- 10:19Speaker 4: think we can all agree is great. So I'm back
- 10:23Speaker 4: at the office. Actually I have not stopped working for
- 10:26Speaker 4: a long time. Well with me anyway. Point is I've
- 10:30Speaker 4: been buying lunch a hell of a lot because I
- 10:33Speaker 4: haven't had time to go to the supermarket. I mean, boohoo,
- 10:36Speaker 4: I probably have had time.
- 10:37Speaker 3: This is yes, she had. I know that you have
- 10:40Speaker 3: been doing this. This could have been your money loss,
- 10:42Speaker 3: and you chose to say that we were thieves.
- 10:45Speaker 4: It adds up, though it doesn't it, Jess. And it's
- 10:48Speaker 4: one of the things that we talk about on the
- 10:49Speaker 4: podcast all the time, is like, pack you lunch, don't
- 10:51Speaker 4: buy coffee. It's like my go to. It's the only
- 10:53Speaker 4: advice I have, and I've just butted against it. What
- 10:55Speaker 4: we're gonna say, Jess.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Oh, I'm just gonna say, do as we say, not
- 10:58Speaker 5: as we do.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Oh, well, that's it. I mean, yeah, and buying your
- 11:01Speaker 4: lunch is delicious, but I'm not so delicious on your
- 11:04Speaker 4: wallet anyway. What a boring money confession from George Victoria
- 11:08Speaker 4: money wins all confessions, take it away.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Okay, so this week, if you followed me on Instagram,
- 11:14Speaker 3: you'd actually already know this money loss. And it has
- 11:17Speaker 3: everything to do with being my own fault. So this
- 11:20Speaker 3: week I left half a block of chocolate, really good chocolate,
- 11:25Speaker 3: dark chocolate, the expensive kind of dark chocolate that you
- 11:27Speaker 3: really try to stretch because you don't want to buy
- 11:30Speaker 3: another block of it, but you really enjoy it.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I left it on the couch, and this could go
- 11:36Speaker 1: badly if you sat on it or something. It melted
- 11:38Speaker 1: a couch.
- 11:39Speaker 3: But it got worse because my dog, my new dog,
- 11:42Speaker 3: Lucy puppy really small founded on the couch and she
- 11:46Speaker 3: consumed the entire block.
- 11:48Speaker 1: There's two parts to this. She's absolutely fine.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Guys got her to the bed in time and we
- 11:53Speaker 3: got a stomach pumped, which was really fun. But I
- 11:55Speaker 3: walked out of there with a three hundred and fifty
- 11:57Speaker 3: dollar bill or three hundred and thirty five dollars to
- 12:00Speaker 3: more exact.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 12:01Speaker 3: And also, my couch needs a professional steam clean because
- 12:05Speaker 3: it turns out a puppy is not that clean at
- 12:07Speaker 3: eating and she's rubbed it into my couch.
- 12:11Speaker 4: So yeah, that's and she probably lost an eight dollar
- 12:14Speaker 4: block of chocolate. Don't forget that as well, at.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Least an eight dollar block of chocolate. I don't know
- 12:18Speaker 3: what it's worth, but to be honest, I adore dark chocolate,
- 12:22Speaker 3: but I do try to limit myself. But Lucy's stotched
- 12:25Speaker 3: me having.
- 12:25Speaker 1: It all together.
- 12:26Speaker 4: She's worth it though, She's.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Definitely worth it.
- 12:28Speaker 3: She's been a very good lady in the office this week.
- 12:31Speaker 3: She greets everybody. She's the Chief Engagement Officer CEO.
- 12:34Speaker 1: For short, and yeah, all our clients love her.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Given the topic of this week's episode, I thought it
- 12:49Speaker 3: would be a little bit of fun while having our
- 12:52Speaker 3: ruskies to talk about sweet sweet cash money.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Now.
- 12:57Speaker 3: I know, Jess, you and I were talking before about
- 12:59Speaker 3: some fun questions related to cash and the first one
- 13:03Speaker 3: I've actually got for you guys, And maybe if you're listening,
- 13:06Speaker 3: you can think about when the last time you did
- 13:08Speaker 3: this was? Was when was the last time you spent
- 13:12Speaker 3: enough money for you to feel slightly ill with it
- 13:15Speaker 3: leaving your account?
- 13:16Speaker 5: Ooh, if it's more than twenty dollars, like quite often
- 13:20Speaker 5: I'll be like, m do I need it?
- 13:22Speaker 1: I think, truthfully, the last.
- 13:24Speaker 5: Time I spent a significant amount of money was when
- 13:27Speaker 5: I paid off my credit card, which was a while
- 13:30Speaker 5: ago now, but that was several thousand dollars more than
- 13:34Speaker 5: I would care to admit it was. I had that
- 13:36Speaker 5: initial feeling of just like, oh my god, like that's
- 13:38Speaker 5: so much money that just left my account that I'm
- 13:40Speaker 5: never going to see again, But it was immediately followed
- 13:42Speaker 5: by like just complete relief.
- 13:44Speaker 3: I actually adore that, and I know that you would
- 13:47Speaker 3: have felt a little bit sick.
- 13:48Speaker 1: But something that I'm going to point out there.
- 13:49Speaker 3: If you're in credit card debt and you have savings,
- 13:52Speaker 3: like my friend, you don't actually have savings. You just
- 13:54Speaker 3: have an amount of money sitting to the side that
- 13:56Speaker 3: could make you completely debt free that you're choosing not
- 13:59Speaker 3: to use.
- 13:59Speaker 1: That for now.
- 14:00Speaker 3: I've always said that having an emergency account is really
- 14:03Speaker 3: really important even if you have debt. Don't use that
- 14:06Speaker 3: to extinguish your credit card debt. But if you are
- 14:08Speaker 3: trying to save while having credit card debt, a personal loan,
- 14:11Speaker 3: or any other form of you know, bad debt as
- 14:14Speaker 3: we classify it here as cheese on the money, but
- 14:17Speaker 3: you need to get rid of that before you start saving,
- 14:19Speaker 3: because if you're saving at the same time as having
- 14:21Speaker 3: personal debt, it's actually working against you because you're paying
- 14:24Speaker 3: interest on your credit card at probably an exorbitant amount
- 14:28Speaker 3: between like seventeen and twenty two percent or whatever your
- 14:31Speaker 3: credit card is. So that's technically how much money your
- 14:34Speaker 3: savings is losing you by having savings. Like if you
- 14:38Speaker 3: had an investment portfolio that was consistently losing like let's
- 14:41Speaker 3: call it nineteen percent, like you would change it asap.
- 14:45Speaker 3: And so we should really start seeing saving while being
- 14:48Speaker 3: in debt that way.
- 14:49Speaker 5: I think we get that question in our group so
- 14:52Speaker 5: so often is people saying, I have, you know, ten
- 14:55Speaker 5: thousand dollars set aside, and I want to buy a
- 14:57Speaker 5: new card, but I also have a credit card debt
- 14:59Speaker 5: or a person alone. So I feel like you've just
- 15:01Speaker 5: answered all of those questions we usually get. And just
- 15:04Speaker 5: to clarify your saying, if you have debt, that should
- 15:06Speaker 5: be your priority, right.
- 15:07Speaker 3: One hundred percent is always your priority, and that's something
- 15:10Speaker 3: that really needs to be prioritized.
- 15:13Speaker 1: And I think it.
- 15:14Speaker 3: I think it's really hard because you've got these goals
- 15:17Speaker 3: and you've got these things in mind that you really
- 15:19Speaker 3: want to achieve, right, Like you want to save for home,
- 15:21Speaker 3: and you just have come into a bigger salary, so
- 15:24Speaker 3: you're putting all of your money into an account so
- 15:27Speaker 3: that you can save your first home. But you've got
- 15:29Speaker 3: a ten thousand or eleven thousand dollar credit card or
- 15:32Speaker 3: personal debt, so you're just pretending it's not there while
- 15:35Speaker 3: feeling like you're achieving something else. It's actually gonna put
- 15:38Speaker 3: you further behind and you're not gonna.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Get as far forward.
- 15:42Speaker 3: What we should be doing is using that debt to
- 15:44Speaker 3: teach ourselves that we actually can create really good savings habits.
- 15:47Speaker 3: So maybe not seeing that as oh my gosh, I
- 15:50Speaker 3: lost all of that money.
- 15:51Speaker 1: We didn't. You already spent it, you're just paying it back.
- 15:55Speaker 3: But what you should be doing is going, oh my gosh,
- 15:57Speaker 3: if I could pay off ten thousand dollars worth of
- 15:59Speaker 3: credit card debt, I sure can save ten thousand dollars
- 16:02Speaker 3: in that same period of time. So try and prove
- 16:05Speaker 3: that to yourself instead.
- 16:07Speaker 4: That was good. That was not just your average little chat,
- 16:10Speaker 4: was it?
- 16:10Speaker 1: When Friday drinks with Victoria goes, oh, friends, I'm.
- 16:14Speaker 4: The cool kids usually like on a Friday night with.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Thee Yeah, welcome, welcome, Jorjia. When was the last time
- 16:20Speaker 3: you spent enough money that it made your eyes kind
- 16:23Speaker 3: of water? Umm?
- 16:25Speaker 4: Look, I am similar to Jess here. Spending more than
- 16:29Speaker 4: twenty dollars at a time makes me stirrup a little
- 16:32Speaker 4: in my mouth. So I think probably.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Twenty dollars that surprises me. From both of you.
- 16:39Speaker 4: You're gonna lie, I'm not a frivolous spender. I think
- 16:42Speaker 4: about everything I purchased to the point where.
- 16:44Speaker 3: No, you are literally one of the savvyest savers. I
- 16:46Speaker 3: know actually, and obviously when I'm share on the pod
- 16:48Speaker 3: what you've got in your savings, But she's pretty good
- 16:52Speaker 3: at saving friends.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Yeah. But I would say probably most recently would have
- 16:56Speaker 4: been the purchases that I made for the apartment that
- 16:59Speaker 4: I'm now living in. So I had to buy a
- 17:01Speaker 4: washing machine and a fridge. So things like that are
- 17:03Speaker 4: just like those purchases boring but you need them.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Yeah, so just those I guess, do you have any
- 17:09Speaker 3: savvy savings tips on those items or did you just
- 17:12Speaker 3: just marketplace?
- 17:13Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 17:14Speaker 4: Nice? Yeah, nice.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Complete side note, I'm one hundred percent convinced that I
- 17:17Speaker 5: can manifest anything that I went onto Facebook Marketplace. It's
- 17:20Speaker 5: happened to be five or six times where I've seen
- 17:22Speaker 5: something like quite expensive and pretty specific and I've managed
- 17:27Speaker 5: within i would.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Say, like two months or so to find.
- 17:31Speaker 5: It on Facebook Marketplace for at least half of the
- 17:34Speaker 5: retail price.
- 17:34Speaker 3: So back for another episode next week with life Coaching
- 17:38Speaker 3: from Jessica Ricci.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Okay, so finally, for you're the only one that hasn't
- 17:43Speaker 4: answered this question, and you have had quite a few.
- 17:47Speaker 1: That is true. That is true.
- 17:49Speaker 3: I actually feel a little bit embarrassed now about mine
- 17:52Speaker 3: because you guys are saying that you're so worried about
- 17:55Speaker 3: twenty dollars leaving your account, and mine was the house
- 17:58Speaker 3: deposit that left my account.
- 18:00Speaker 4: And what did that feel like?
- 18:02Speaker 3: Oh? It felt like I got kicked in the guards. Really, yeah,
- 18:05Speaker 3: absolutely it was. It wasn't that it was leaving. I
- 18:08Speaker 3: was very glad that I was finally achieving this goal.
- 18:11Speaker 3: And I really saw that transfer as like, you know,
- 18:14Speaker 3: the seal on signing a contract, I suppose, but it
- 18:18Speaker 3: was the waiting period between me transferring it and getting
- 18:21Speaker 3: a receipt from the real estate agent to say I've
- 18:23Speaker 3: transferred it, saying oh my gosh, where's my money gone?
- 18:26Speaker 3: Like that was a lot of money and now it's gone.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Or maybe it's because I'm just genuinely not used to
- 18:31Speaker 3: having that larger sums of money. But you actually have
- 18:34Speaker 3: to head down to the bank to get that transferred,
- 18:36Speaker 3: so it felt a little bit more legitimate.
- 18:38Speaker 1: But knowing that.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Some people had gotten caught up in scams historically transferring
- 18:43Speaker 3: large amounts of money and it being lost, like, I
- 18:45Speaker 3: didn't sleep well that night.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie.
- 18:47Speaker 4: How long did it take?
- 18:49Speaker 3: Oh, it took twenty four hours, so it's really quick
- 18:51Speaker 3: from bank to bank, and I got the confirmation that
- 18:54Speaker 3: it was there. But when you transfer your home deposit,
- 18:57Speaker 3: you'll get the receipt that you know it was transferred
- 18:59Speaker 3: from them, and I'll say, yep, we've done our job.
- 19:01Speaker 3: We've been there account in twenty four hours and you
- 19:03Speaker 3: go great, no problems. But you also get like a
- 19:05Speaker 3: written up receipt from the real estate agent to say, yes,
- 19:08Speaker 3: we've confirmed this and it is here, and they kind
- 19:12Speaker 3: of hold it in limbo before the actual owners of
- 19:16Speaker 3: the house get it, so it goes to the real
- 19:17Speaker 3: estate agent, not the other owners.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Just for those of you who don't understand that process,
- 19:21Speaker 1: because to be honest, there was a lot that I
- 19:23Speaker 1: needed to learn about property when going through that.
- 19:25Speaker 4: How are you feeling about that now, Vin, Oh.
- 19:27Speaker 1: My gosh, I'm so proud. Yeah, I'm so proud.
- 19:29Speaker 3: We achieved this epic goal and we achieved something that
- 19:33Speaker 3: I arguably didn't think would happen as fast as it did.
- 19:35Speaker 3: So I'm not mad about it, but I'm not gonna
- 19:38Speaker 3: lie every time I log into my bank and I'm like,
- 19:40Speaker 3: ah ah, that's that's not what that used to look like.
- 19:46Speaker 3: And I had the privilege of saving up with a
- 19:49Speaker 3: partner as well, so it always looked like it compounded
- 19:51Speaker 3: much faster than what I was contributing to it, So
- 19:54Speaker 3: that was super motivating. And how we're not doing that,
- 19:57Speaker 3: it's going into a mortgage or an offset, and like
- 20:00Speaker 3: that's okay, but I don't have the same visibility over
- 20:03Speaker 3: that as I did in my personal bank account when
- 20:05Speaker 3: we just had a joint account.
- 20:07Speaker 4: Going on from that.
- 20:08Speaker 5: Actually, I saw a post in the Facebook group the
- 20:10Speaker 5: other day that gave me a little bit of a
- 20:11Speaker 5: giggle as someone who used to work in real estate,
- 20:14Speaker 5: and I'm really sorry I can't remember your name, but
- 20:17Speaker 5: I'm sure there are a lot of people who may
- 20:18Speaker 5: have had the same train of thought. And she was
- 20:20Speaker 5: basically just asking how people felt carrying the cash for
- 20:24Speaker 5: their house deposits when they went to pay. So I
- 20:27Speaker 5: think she was under the impression that people were taking
- 20:30Speaker 5: their you know, sixty to seventy thousand dollars deposit to
- 20:33Speaker 5: the auction to put on the table.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Like when you buy a house in cash, that's not
- 20:38Speaker 1: what they mean.
- 20:38Speaker 3: No, and actually, and money that's in your bank account
- 20:43Speaker 3: that pays for it. Like if you're saying, oh, they
- 20:45Speaker 3: bought the house in cash. That don't just turn up
- 20:47Speaker 3: with a briefcase of money.
- 20:49Speaker 5: And that's not that's exactly the image I got was
- 20:52Speaker 5: like some shady person like opening up their coat and
- 20:55Speaker 5: just having a big suitcase full of money. But it
- 20:57Speaker 5: got me thinking, like, what's the most cash you've ever
- 21:00Speaker 5: seen in person?
- 21:01Speaker 4: Physical?
- 21:02Speaker 5: Physical casheah holding it in your hands at any one time.
- 21:07Speaker 4: That's throwing Daddy O under the bush, green boys in
- 21:10Speaker 4: the wallet. From time to time you must be like, nah,
- 21:16Speaker 4: I think you had like two when I was like, Dad,
- 21:18Speaker 4: you got any money you don't want or bet you're
- 21:20Speaker 4: done with? And he was like, George, go away.
- 21:23Speaker 3: So it was worth a crack. It was definitely worth
- 21:25Speaker 3: a crack. You got to shoot your shot. You don't
- 21:27Speaker 3: get your shot, that is okay, but at.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Least you try it.
- 21:31Speaker 4: How about u V.
- 21:32Speaker 3: I don't think i've ever held you know what? Actually,
- 21:34Speaker 3: I have a story way back when I just started
- 21:37Speaker 3: my grad role and I bought a new car. And
- 21:40Speaker 3: this is the thing that put me in personal debt
- 21:42Speaker 3: in the first place. For those of you playing along
- 21:44Speaker 3: on my life story. But I went and purchased a car.
- 21:48Speaker 3: It was a second hand car at the time. It
- 21:50Speaker 3: is the car I still drive friends, which happened to
- 21:52Speaker 3: be a two thousand and six model, so very recent,
- 21:56Speaker 3: very updated, very chic. I still love her dearly. You
- 21:59Speaker 3: guys know that pride and joy. But the person I
- 22:02Speaker 3: bought it off was out in broad Meadows and they
- 22:09Speaker 3: wanted to sell it in cash. And now that's not
- 22:13Speaker 3: a bad thing, but like.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Do mean it was stolen.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Oh, it's not a.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Bad thing, but it did feel slightly weird then being
- 22:21Speaker 3: like no, no, no, has to be in cash. And then
- 22:23Speaker 3: my dad was like, we really should look into these.
- 22:26Speaker 3: We like looked up the bin number and stuff, and
- 22:28Speaker 3: it was it was actually legit.
- 22:29Speaker 1: They did own it. It was fine.
- 22:30Speaker 3: There was no loan on the car or anything like that.
- 22:33Speaker 3: So yeah, that was probably then I had a hot
- 22:36Speaker 3: fourteen five hundred dollars in a cash in my cot.
- 22:40Speaker 5: Were you not afraid that it was a set up?
- 22:42Speaker 5: I would have been so scared that I was going
- 22:44Speaker 5: to get mugged.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I can't even remember the full story, if I'm being honest,
- 22:49Speaker 3: I just remember that was probably the only time I've
- 22:51Speaker 3: held a lot of money in my hands.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And do you know what I was so disappointed. Seeing
- 22:58Speaker 1: it in person, it.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Looked like thing like I thought we were gonna go
- 23:02Speaker 3: down to the band and can get this cash out
- 23:04Speaker 3: and it would be this massive.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Wadden I'd have to like hold it up or something.
- 23:08Speaker 3: But actually it was just like this small pile of cash,
- 23:12Speaker 3: and I was like, Oh, couldn't you've given it to
- 23:14Speaker 3: me in like fives.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Now, given that.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Story was so lackluster, that was good. It was lackluster.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Let's be honest, I reckon. Given Georgia King has always
- 23:24Speaker 3: has finish shot Rusky before everybody else, it is time
- 23:29Speaker 3: to wrap the show, which is actually how we manage
- 23:31Speaker 3: shows nowadays. It is the time in which it takes
- 23:34Speaker 3: Georgia to consume the drinks.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Which we have picked that week about exactly.
- 23:39Speaker 3: If you guys have any suggestions for next week's drink,
- 23:41Speaker 3: we are absolutely open to it.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Posted in the group. Send us a message.
- 23:45Speaker 3: We need to know is there a throwback drink we
- 23:47Speaker 3: should be consuming because we want to hear about it.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I'm going to pitch Wicked drinks. If those of you
- 23:53Speaker 3: playing along at home, remember.
- 23:55Speaker 4: Those energy drinks.
- 23:56Speaker 1: They're blue, their energy drinks.
- 23:58Speaker 4: I'm not talking about it. You're on our side of
- 24:00Speaker 4: the day, will remember that you're way older than us.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Wow.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Okay, well it is time to trap. It is time
- 24:08Speaker 3: to wrap the show. But just before we head off,
- 24:11Speaker 3: we'd like to acknowledge and pay respects to Australia's Aboriginal

- 24:57Speaker 1: you call me cat Henos.
- 24:59Speaker 4: I think it's a thing I've started doing. I just
