- 0:29Hello everyone.
- 0:29Welcome back to another episode of Love Your Love Muscle,
- 0:34our biweekly podcast about self-regulation, meditation,
- 0:38living from the heart, heart focus, meditation, exactly
- 0:42as it says, love your love muscle.
- 0:44Your love muscle is your heart.
- 0:45And, uh, that's what it's all about, this podcast.
- 0:48And we have several techniques.
- 0:50Last time we talked about, uh,
- 0:53a spiritual thing with this mb.
- 0:55So if you haven't, um, haven't, uh, seen that one
- 0:59or listened to that one, uh, scroll back two weeks in time
- 1:03or to the audio, uh, podcast from last week
- 1:07where you can hear all about shamah
- 1:09and finding shamah within you.
- 1:11So today I wanna talk about something called
- 1:16micro meditation.
- 1:18I dunno if you remember a couple of months back
- 1:20or weeks back, I talked about that we lose concentration
- 1:25and focus very, very quickly.
- 1:28It's actually a crisis, I must say.
- 1:30Uh, 2004, I think I said something like that.
- 1:35Our attention span was around two and a half minutes.
- 1:38And, uh, recently it has become around 47 seconds.
- 1:44So yeah, not very well, uh, which means
- 1:48that people don't have time
- 1:50or don't take the time to do any sort
- 1:53of meditation either, right?
- 1:55They don't have the time for it, they don't have to focus
- 1:57for it, and their mind is on high gear.
- 2:03Uh, yeah, 24 7 basically.
- 2:05Uh, which is a big concern I think.
- 2:09Uh, I mean, people should be able to concentrate
- 2:12for more than 10 minutes at a time.
- 2:16Uh, but yeah, but that's also why the podcasts are getting,
- 2:20uh, shorter
- 2:22because people don't get with them, uh, half of it.
- 2:26And that's also why you see more short
- 2:29videos on social media.
- 2:30Everything should be short, short, short, short, short.
- 2:33And of course, meditation teachers,
- 2:35self-regulation teachers, they hop along with that
- 2:38and so-called experts say that.
- 2:40Yeah, yeah. Uh, two minute meditation is just as good
- 2:44as a 20 minute meditation
- 2:45or two hour meditation, which
- 2:48of course is completely bullox.
- 2:50But, uh, yeah, who am I?
- 2:53I'm just a meditation teacher with over a decade
- 2:57of experience in meditation.
- 2:58Two decades, I must say.
- 3:00Uh, I see where this is going,
- 3:02and I see also where, uh, people that are, uh,
- 3:05interested in meditation are going
- 3:07because they lose interest.
- 3:09It takes too much time and, uh, they can't focus anymore.
- 3:12So, uh, society has a problem,
- 3:17uh, I should say.
- 3:19But, uh, yeah. Anyway, uh, today we're going
- 3:23to do something called micro meditation
- 3:26or micro mindfulness.
- 3:27I'm going to teach you something
- 3:29that I don't call meditation in practice when I talk
- 3:31to people about this technique.
- 3:32I call it self-regulation, a short self-regulation
- 3:36to get yourself in another state of mind, state
- 3:40of being called stop technique, which, uh, stands
- 3:44for stop the S for stop.
- 3:47T take a breath, the o observe
- 3:51and p, uh, proceed.
- 3:54So very simple.
- 3:57During our day, we can say to ourselves, let's stop.
- 4:02Just take a few breaths,
- 4:04and if you don't have time, take one breath.
- 4:07Observe your surroundings. What am I doing? Where am I?
- 4:10Anchor yourself in your situation.
- 4:13Uh, maybe in those short seconds you get a good idea
- 4:17that gets you, uh, going, uh, which means then proceed.
- 4:23So continue what you were doing or do something else.
- 4:26If you notice that what you were doing
- 4:29wasn't the thing you should be doing at that time.
- 4:32So yeah, um, I'm in nature as you can see,
- 4:38and, uh, nature's the best way to stop, sit down,
- 4:44gather some energy.
- 4:46And I would say don't do it in 47 seconds.
- 4:49Really sit there for 10 minutes, 20 minutes an hour
- 4:54or more just to recoup.
- 4:57Get yourself together, be real again, don't let yourself get
- 5:02direct with every sort of thing that is going on
- 5:06because you don't have control over it anyway.
- 5:09Uh, and if we continue like this, like I said, with this,
- 5:14uh, practice of not being able to focus, not being able
- 5:17to concentrate, uh, we are in big,
- 5:21big trouble mental health wise
- 5:24and, uh, physical health wise
- 5:27because tho those two go closely together.
- 5:30And as I speak, I've been speaking now talking now
- 5:33for five minutes, which means more than 75%
- 5:37of the listeners or viewers are already gone.
- 5:40Can you imagine that? Can you imagine that being only, uh,
- 5:4515% of the viewers that are watching right now?
- 5:49Amazing. But anyway, let's quickly turn the camera around
- 5:53so you don't have to look at my face.
- 5:56Look at pretty nature. And we do a short stop session.
- 6:00Maybe we go on for a little bit longer.
- 6:02We'll see, uh, uh, I haven't sccr scripted this,
- 6:06just the idea that came up with doing this.
- 6:09So it's all natural, all raw and mostly uncut.
- 6:13So see on the other side for the stop technique.
- 6:18Alright, everyone, for some
- 6:22of you this might be a familiar site And,
- 6:28Uh, this is again, a spatial video.
- 6:31So if you're patron member, you can download a spatial
- 6:36session of this meditation
- 6:39and watch it in 3D on any compatible
- 6:44XR glasses, vision pro and meta glasses.
- 6:48Whatever you have, you can watch it and listen to it
- 6:51and be more immersed in the beautiful nature
- 6:55we have here in Norway.
- 6:57Uh, yeah, like I said, stop technique.
- 7:01So let's get started by stopping, right?
- 7:04So the first letter of stop is the S for stop.
- 7:09So I want to invite you to stop
- 7:11what you're doing, pay attention.
- 7:14And the next letter is the T, which means take a breath.
- 7:20And I want you to take a nice deep inhale through your nose
- 7:25and exhale through your mouth and lower your shoulders.
- 7:30Loosen your jaw, settle down,
- 7:32and feel yourself getting centered.
- 7:35And take another nice deep inhale through your nose,
- 7:40exhale through your mouth,
- 7:45calming down completely stopping up,
- 7:49centering yourself for yourself in this moment,
- 7:56minimizing the thoughts about the future,
- 7:58minimizing any thoughts about the past, just being there,
- 8:02here right now, stopping up, being silent for a moment.
- 8:08Beautiful. Take nice deep calm breaths
- 8:13to calm down and stop even more.
- 8:23And then we go to the next letter,
- 8:25which is the O for observe.
- 8:33I want you to observe your surroundings
- 8:36or observe the video you're seeing on the device right now.
- 8:56And don't only observe with your eyes,
- 8:59but also with your ears.
- 9:05Observe what is going on with you right now,
- 9:10and not only outside of you and around you,
- 9:16but also inside of you.
- 9:18What are you feeling
- 9:27most likely?
- 9:28And I do hope you feel more calm,
- 9:35more rest centered,
- 9:44and hopefully you also notice that you are observing more
- 9:50while you are centered.
- 9:53You're seeing more, you hear more,
- 10:00you more in this moment right now.
- 10:18Just be still for a minute
- 10:20or two as you observe.
- 11:19Wonderful. Now let's transition to the next letter,
- 11:24which is the P for proceed.
- 11:27And now it's up to you.
- 11:29Do you want to proceed stopping up,
- 11:32proceed sitting still,
- 11:35or do you want to continue where you left off
- 11:37before your session, your stop session and go back to work
- 11:42or whatever you were doing?
- 11:49That's up to you. So yeah,
- 11:53breathe normally again, rego with your fingers
- 11:56and toes, if you feel like,
- 12:00and if you had your eyes closed to open your eyes,
- 12:02welcome back, welcome back.
- 12:09So yeah, welcome back everyone, uh,
- 12:13from this short session, five minutes.
- 12:16And uh, in one thing I do agree with, um, uh,
- 12:21ex experts, uh, and that is that a short meditation
- 12:24or self-regulation as I would call this one though, I mean,
- 12:28you can't call this for meditation, but okay,
- 12:31but I do agree with the expert when it comes that, uh,
- 12:33to the point that I say, Hey, you know what, a
- 12:38ten second, two minute meditation, it's not, meditation
- 12:43is better than, uh, nothing at, uh, it's,
- 12:48I totally agree with.
- 12:50Uh, but again, call it self-regulation
- 12:53and not meditation at that point.
- 12:54But, uh, but nevermind. So yeah. Uh, and do it.
- 12:59And preferably several times a day in between
- 13:04meetings when you walk from one side of the office
- 13:08to the other side of the office, or don't do it in cars
- 13:11or where you're operating heavy equipment
- 13:13because you might get, uh, you, you need to sit, you need
- 13:18to stop what you're doing, right?
- 13:20So, uh, be mindful about that.
- 13:23Um, so stop, stop what you're doing.
- 13:28Take a breath, preferably a couple of breaths, and deep
- 13:33and calm breaths and observe
- 13:37and then proceed.
- 13:38Alright? And I want to, I want you
- 13:41to proceed with what you were doing.
- 13:43Hopefully you don't forget about what you did.
- 13:45Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully you don't forget, uh,
- 13:49how it felt, how you feel now after just a short break.
- 13:54So, yeah. And, uh, take care. Be safe. Don't overdo it.
- 13:59Take your breaks. Meditate, self-regulate.
- 14:02Uh, very important. Train that muscle.
- 14:05Train to be able to focus. Okay? Take good care, everyone.
- 14:10Be safe. And I must day.
