- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: Can you believe that we're in May?
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what's happening right now?
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like, how did this happen?
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: We are in the middle of May.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: And, and I'm breaking like all podcast rules, I know you're not supposed to talk about date and times and all of that, you know, in your podcast, but whatever, we're in May you guys here we are and I want you to pause like just for a second and I want you to really think about, you know, where are you at on your health and fitness journey.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't always say this all the time in my episode, it's like I get it, but seriously, have you stopped and thought about it because summer is right around the corner and may isn't sane like it's absolutely insane.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: And we have so many graduation parties and the weather's changing and there's ceremonies and recitals like everything right like everything is totally happening right now and we can get very lost in that and we don't want to get lost in that because the summer is is nuts more people gain weight over the summer months than they do over the holiday season.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: There, I said it for the very first time, like this season, you're gonna hear me see that all summer, but it's true because we're exposed to more alcohol and party foods and like, oh, it's too nice, I can't go to the gym, like I don't have time, the kids are home, like there's so many things that play into that and whatever, we want to be proactive with this.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: This is why I'm asking you like in the middle of May, where are you at on this health and fitness journey?
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: How do you wanna show up for the summer?
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: And what you do now,
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: can impact your may or June and your July.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's not over.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's not too late.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's never too late to start in our guest today.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: Actually talks about that.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: He's incredible.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: This episode's gonna light a fire under your ass.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: It is.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: If you truly listen to this and you listen to the message and everything that we're giving you and we're being honest, you guys, we are being raw and real in this episode.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: If you're truly listening to this, you're gonna see, you're gonna feel it and you're like, I need to do something.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: and what you do does make a difference.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm in the middle of the Fitbody method right now.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: We're on week three, and I'm telling you right now, we have a few people that are already down six pounds, six, seven pounds, and they're just,
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: they've just started like three weeks ago and this isn't through like fancy shakes and diets and like all of that crap.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: This is through them showing up working on the mindset this is them doing the work like all those things is getting them the results.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I say that's all the time.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's from Tony Robbins.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's not Melissa Boko.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: progress equals motivation.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: The more progress you have, even if it's bigger, small, it's going to make you feel more motivated.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: So these people that are losing and they're like, oh my god, this is happening.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: This is that like what's going on?
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: This is happening.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: They're developing their own motivation and they're going to keep going with the support of us, you know, of course.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: But it's just proof for you that what you do now matters and change can happen.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: it absolutely can happen.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: But you have to take action.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: You have to dig into your why.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: Why do you even want this to happen?
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: Because just showing up for July and like a hot bikini like that's not it's not enough.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's not enough to keep you going.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'll never lie to you and tell you what it is.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: You need to figure out and go deeper why seven layers.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: And again, today's episode is going to get you thinking about this because we dive in to it all.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Today we have John Goldman on and he is the founder and CEO of Rebel Health Alliance, a John built a new kind of a healthcare system.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: When doctors told John that he was fine and he felt anything but fine, he was tired, overworked.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: uninspired by the healthcare system that waits for people to get sick before doing anything about it.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: So true, he decided to build this new healthcare system and it's one that's designed to make you stronger, sharper, more resilient and.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: the right mind in with the right body, too.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: And this is why I loved our conversation with John because it's not just about this.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: We talk about this today, the mindset, the change, the identity change and shifts that have to happen and overall realistic amount of time, too.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: John talks about how he's training for the Boston Marathon and he uses himself as a guinea pig and that's one of the reasons why I just I loved this because he gets it because he lives it and it's like a 12 month process and he's six months in right now two date when you guys listen to this and he's got six more months to go and he's like yeah the shiny and the new has worn off.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so what is he relying on right now?
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: What's getting him going right now?
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the mental part of it.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's the shift because how many of you have started something.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: And then the shiny and the new wears off.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: will what keeps you going.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's the mindset shift.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: And we talk all about that today.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: We talk all about the healthcare system.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: We talk about the seven pillars of longevity.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, we hear John talk about that.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: The tests that you need to have done, the reality behind change in the mindset like what really is going on, it's just data.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: We talk about collecting and supporting data.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to help you feel motivated.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: all of it.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: It was just such a great great episode.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: And this is one that you listen to twice.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: You don't just listen to this episode once.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: Two times maybe three.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: And then you pass it on to someone that you care about.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: Like, hey, you need to listen to this episode.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's that good.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: So check out the show notes, you guys.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: If you are ready to create some change, check out the show notes, check out John, book a call.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: And if you don't want to book a call, send me an email.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's ITS Melissa Bogel at gmail.com.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: I know getting on the phone sometimes is it can be scary, right?
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: You get on there and you're just lying on the phone saying, I want to talk to her.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: In the Fitbody method, we have people that are mentors and coaches and they're in helping others.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: There's a point to this and then we'll wrap it up and we'll get to the show.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: They're in there and right now they're all sharing their story about how they got started and they all started with a phone call and they're all saying my life changed the day I had that phone call with Melissa has there been ups and downs and trials and tributes absolutely.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: But they're like, that's when everything shifted, and it changed when I did a phone call with her.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's the power of taking that first step in having a call.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm here to help you guys through that.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: All right, everyone.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: Enjoy the show.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, everyone.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Bomb Life.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: I cast today.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: We have John Goldman on.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the show, John.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, it's awesome to be here, Melissa.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: Great to meet you.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: You guys are already missing, like, really good content.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: John, our best friends now.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: Right away, instant.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's already been decided that I'm another notch on his belt.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: Ha ha.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: So you went there.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: You went there, right?
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: We just hit record.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: I just go right there.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, all right.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: I thought there might be like a tone shift from pre-show if you know, but though there definitely hasn't Not been there's no tone shift.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: Oh God.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was I was asking him like how many pockets have you been on and he like had pause?
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: It was a really really long pause.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like wow that many huh?
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a number.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: Then I gave me the number.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: I was like I'll tell you not and none like this already 30 seconds
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, well, good.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: I say, and then I mean, let's just be honest, that I took for sure.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: And then you should take a shirt off.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be a hot one.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: Let me take off my clothes.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: I wish it wasn't true.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: It is.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: I went from long sleeve by now.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: I got to wear a tank.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: I got to wear a tank.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm like, I'm already ready for the gym.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like after I'm done with you, I like two more meetings and calls.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: And if I'm not dressed to go to the gym, John, like, and just ready to go, like it's not going to happen.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: getting the clothes on is often what you need to do to kick start that whole process.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like when I started, I literally had like sometimes go to bed in booty shorts and sports bras so I could wake up and like just go.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I've heard it said and it's it's worked for me.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: I usually don't lack for motivation, but it has worked for me.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: If you feel like you don't want to go, just put the clothes on first.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: And then, you know, you've already taken step one and getting the bowl moving is,
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: So now, officially, I have to work out as part of my job.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: And what a great thing that has been, and if I screw that up, I screw up the company, if I screw up the company, I screw up the family.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: So that is the level of accountability systems that I needed.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: And then on top of it, I wanted to qualify for Boston Marathon this year.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: And so I've got a pretty big Twitter audience I've built over about a decade.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I announced publicly, 100,000 plus people, and now it's public coming.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: I am doing the same called project unreasonable.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: I am going to qualify for Boston at age 50.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: watch me do it.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: And so now I'm halfway through that was six months ago, the races and six months.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm running 45 miles a week.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm cross-grading like seven hours a week.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I'm almost like precision diet and it's in the middle.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: These are the doldrums.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: These are like, it's been six months since I announced it.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: So like the excitement has kind of gone.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: And the race is six months in the future.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: So the excitement for the race has started building it.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: So now,
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: I've because I've gone public and everyone's asking me about it and I keep talking about it that talk about motivation right right now I love it.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: I can I can completely relate like I am the face of my business and what I do like my kids are like What are you doing going to the gym?
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you know, I'm like this is my job you guys work.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's work.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: You you want to eat.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: I gotta go lift exactly like
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think paid for that?
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: My squad.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: I do this with my clients.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: I keep like new people in with old people.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: Not old people.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: People have been there for a longer.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: I don't separate them or anything.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I make the people that have been there like, hey, maybe you could.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: just take on this roller, maybe mentor this person.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, and you can take that concept apply it to your family and your community and realize that you're in a position of leadership already.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: And the question is, is are you going to rise to the challenge of that position of leadership?
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: give your kids the the gift of health and wellness and fitness and nutritional, you know, understanding and commitment and discipline, not by telling them what they need to do, but by showing them what they need to do.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I think, excuse me, I taught my kids how to lift.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: I taught them the fundamental barbell lifts squat that lift press.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: I coach them through learning like Olympic lifting and demonstrated by example living the wife and I got to D1 Babies out of it.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: I just lifted with my daughter there today and my real last night was I said something like ladies, you know, you are setting the standards for your daughters like you are showing them what the norm is and if you have sons, you're showing them what kind of man they need to be and what kind of woman they want to be with.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's it's all about the standards and what you roll them out.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I see that I've been on I've been on the baseball travel world tour.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: I've been on the crew and we're got a, you know, national traveling world tour.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I've also been on the volleyball travel world tour, right?
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: I've been all over the country for all these sports and what you say is exactly right.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: And the relationship between the parents, performance, their appearance, how they carry themselves, it definitely trickles down and is reflected in how that student athlete is operating themselves as well.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: And that phenomenon that you describe of the clearly undisciplined, out-of-shape person who is yelling at their kids to be more disciplined and in shape is happening like it's
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: you know, repeated a million times a weekend.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I just saw the worst thing on on Twitter the other day, it was a it was a video that a travel teams parents made.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: where they got in a line and showed all of the alcoholic beverages they had brought to put in the cooler to drink during the game and it was like 10 parents in a row and you know I've got these like cut waters or whatever and I got these you know, you know, what are the Delta water things I can't remember the name of those anymore.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: I got these beers high news exactly right and and they were just so proud of the fact that they were just sitting there and drunk while their kids are playing baseball.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I know, hold it.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, hold it.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, there's people listening right now going, oh God, that's me.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's me.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: Mom, we know that Yeti is not filled with water.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: Because the cacoline gets worse by forethening.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: And you're embarrassing your kid.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then on Monday, I'll get a message from her being like, oh my God, I'm so like out of shape.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm done.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: What should I eat?
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: Can you give me your diet plan?
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh God, oh God.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, John, you're the founder and CEO of Rebel Health Alliance.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like, everything that I've read and seen about this company, I'm like, yeah, yes, this is my mojo.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: Cause you guys aren't just like, who's your workouts and we're gonna drag it?
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: You're your supplements to take.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: You, dive in.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: So how did this start?
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: Tell me how did Rebel Health Alliance like, how was that born?
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: I have been a lifelong athlete, martial artist, I'm selling you, I was a Muay Thai champion and I played.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's a bunch of sports in school, I did a bunch of yoga, I did a bunch of CrossFit and powerlifting by building it, but it all kind of faded in my mid-40s, three kids, the whole thing.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I was never like, wow, they ought to shape, I never stopped going to the gym, but I did wake up feeling like shit in the morning, like every day.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: And it was about I was about 45 I'm 50 now and I thought you know if this is my peak life
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: If this is my peak wife, what is it going to be in 10 years or in 20 years or in 30 years if I even make it that way?
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: Because I really felt woke up and I was like, oh, God, this is horrible.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: I feel terrible.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't sleep well.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: I just felt just bad.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: It was just like it.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_01]: It was like an undesirable bad feeling.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, low energy, mental clarity was dull, just unable to to really perform at the level that I want to perform as well as just feel good.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I had a friend, I think they called it like biohacking back then.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: I had the friend and I said, dude, I said, dude, guys, my agents say they feel great.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: They're lying, right?
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: They're full of shit.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: Guys who are 45, we're like, oh, I feel great.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: I feel better than ever.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: I feel better than I did in my 30s.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_01]: They're totally full of shit.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, actually, no, no.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: There are really people.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: your age and older, not only feel great today, feel better than they did yesterday and then tomorrow are going to feel even better.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, dude, if that is the case, and you need to tell me what to do here.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: So he introduced me to the world of functional medicine.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: He introduced me to the world of advanced diagnostic panels and like just going beyond
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: what the broken health care system provides for people today because I had a primary care doctor and he didn't care that I was like, you know, I carry a lot of muscle, but I was still like BMILB's for sure and he didn't care that my cholesterol was high and my sugars were screwed up and I had hyperlipidemia and hyper insulin.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: He never even checked me for inflammation.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: I asked him to check my testosterone once and they told me, what would I even do with that information?
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: And so he taught me, he's like, look, let's get this amazing blood worked on on you.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do a dexis scan.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: You ever did dexis scan?
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, nope.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, okay, we're gonna do a body composition analysis on you, we're particularly gonna look for visceral fat content.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: What's visceral fat content?
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: We should do a VO2 max test.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: What's that?
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I started learning, we did a DNA test.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: I had no idea you could even get your DNA tested to tell you like about like what exercise you should do or what diet you should be doing or when you should go to sleep or what kind of skincare routine should you have?
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: You can test your DNA for the side.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: No idea.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: So they put me through all these diagnostics and what came back was insane.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: I had like five pounds of this for all-fac content.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: My C-reactive, you know, you're, she just, Melissa just made this like crazy face.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: I had a C-reactive protein information scores of like five or six, which is like off the charts.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: My cholesterol's all of the standard LDL were high, HDL was low, and then the advanced ones like APOB was high, and LP low, they were high.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: I had fatty liver disease, I had no idea about this because we got an ultrasound on my fatty liver because my ASTL, T was high from the blood work, which my doctor had noted, but was like, whatever we'll keep an eye on it.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I think the list is even longer than that.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I sleep apnea, I had no idea.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I had to my network on Twitter that I mentioned earlier, and so I reached out to like a bunch of doctors and trainers and coaches and dietitians and never, and we put together this plan.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_01]: I got on the plan, I did the plan six months later, I was 12% body fat, C-reactive protein was back under normal lipids, a normalized sugar, said normalize, I had fixed my sleep.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: I was literally feeling better than ever, better than yesterday, and tomorrow I knew I was going to be feeling better, and I had thought to myself, look,
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: If me, at that time, 45, family of three married, you know, a professional guy, if I found value in this process that just took me like literally six or eight months to go through, I bet you there are other people like me who would appreciate telling them how to do what I just did, what I just learned over nine months, how to do it right away instantly.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: And so we threw up a email landing page, ask people if they were interested.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: We got 200 signups in the first day on the wait list.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: And from there, we just went around building this high performance health care, which is now evolved into a complete health care health insurance replacement.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: That is national, all 50 states.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: We've got 25 people we've had a thousand people come through.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's really been an amazing journey.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: And truly, I think we're just actually getting started.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's crazy.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: 200 people in the first day like people are hurting like there.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: They listen to this and I'm sure right when you start saying you're 45 and they're like, if this is it.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like it.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, and it doesn't have to be and people just accept such mediocre life after honestly after like 35 even when things really start shifting.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: I live in Washington, D.C. and work and spend a lot of time in Arlington, Virginia.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: Consistently rated to the if not the top fittest places in America.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: And yet,
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: what I call the casual obesity that surrounds us when and when I mean that I just mean like dudes in their forties that are clearly carrying what they think is 20 extra pounds but to a trained eye you know is more like 50 yeah women who think they're just five pounds away from like being ready for the beach but you really know it's like 30 and there's probably a whole host of things that are either being medicated, treated or ignored
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: by the current doctor.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: And that's just normal.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: It is just normal.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: You go to the travel sports thing and you look around and like, holy crap, right?
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: And much less if you go to a professional sporting event or to a Disney world or get on a cruise, God forbid, you know, just the evidence is, I know, God forbid.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: The evidence is, I mean, a cruise can be all right, can be all right.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: The evidence is just all around you, and it's this lack of knowledge of like what it's doing to you.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, no, it's not okay for your long-term health for you to carry 30 to 50 extra pounds with you.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: And no, it's not too late.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, it really matters.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: The scariest thing of all is that these things are transmitted to your children through your lifestyle and the things that you do, but even at conception, okay?
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: The metabolic health of the mother and the father at conception, so your pre-conception health not only has direct impact on your children, you will have right then.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: But your children's children, and then your great grandchildren as well.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: So three generations down are affected by your metabolic health at time of conception.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not just, it's not just for your looks.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just for vanity.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just because you won't look hot.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: Or feel comfortable with the pool with this and summer or whatever.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: This is literally a genetic legacy that you're leaving your family tree.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: And we spoke, maybe it was pre-show, but we spoke about putting people in position of leadership to give them a sense of accountability.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I think people fail to really appreciate the sense that the duty they have is the leader that they already are.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: that they already are, and even if you are single, you are still a leader to somebody in your community or at work or your neighbor or your group of friends that are just screwing around wasting your life.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: But if you are a family person or if you are in any moderate position of leadership at work or in your community, people are already looking to you for an example.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: And so you owe it to not only to yourself because God, well, how great do you feel every day?
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: And it's amazing.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: you owe it to your children and the people around you to put yourself first so that you can be a better service to all of the people that depend on you.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: People just aren't clocking on that.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: No, no.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: And it's so sad because once you get stuck into that life of like,
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: not doing anything in activity putting on the way and it's just like oh my big weekend is watching fucking Netflix on Friday and not going to work on Saturday that's like my big thing.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: When you get stuck into that, your mind shifts in your brain and the connections and the chemical start to come down and you get deeper and deeper into the hole to be able to get up and get out and move and people just and then they want the quick fix.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: If I just buy this, I'm scrolling my reals, which I do, I mean, but it's you, because I'm associated with the professional part of my job.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: have, you know, uh, to have, are you on your phone?
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's, I'm working.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm working.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's not yours.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: Are you working?
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's money.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: Does money come out of your phone?
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: It comes out of mind.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you're scrolling your wheels and you see the latest, uh, you know, supplement.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's only 50 bucks.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: But if I take this one supplement, that's going to be the thing that changes it.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: I talk to people every single day they come to us.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: And sometimes they'll even just walk me on the zoom call over to their medicine cabinet and like open up their or in their kitchen look at all these supplements I have like which one's working for you.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm taking 20 of them or I bought them all and I don't take any of them.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: None of them are really doing anything, and if you don't have the fundamentals covered, and we can get into peptides and advanced protocols of stuff too, because I know that's all hot topic, because it is the next thing people like, oh, this might be my magic pill, right?
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, some of the gluteside into this appetite, whatever, those actually are magic pills, but...
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: People aren't gonna see the effects of taking a supplement or a peptide if they aren't already metabolically fit, if they don't already have some muscle mass, if they're not already generally pretty lean, if they're cardiovascular fitness isn't already dialed in.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: These tools, again, aside from the GLP-1 category, because those are absolutely insanely powerful.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they're not gonna, you're not even gonna notice.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: You're not even gonna notice
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's not about taking you from your casual obesity into a generally healthy state and that's just the big boulders that everybody has to do the mindset behind all of this is well and doing that work to because that's another big thing that people don't see that it's like yeah we can change the sure you can take something sure you can get a shot yes you can even start doing like a six week boot camp and get results at the end but like if you're not shifting this.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm always saying like, this person is going to fight to get back to who they were constantly.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we have set points.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: If you lose like 40 or 50 pounds in the course of a year, and you don't hold it.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: for a year, two years.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: No one really knows how long it takes to reset the set point, but we know for sure that if you lose 50 pounds, it's not just like over.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you have to hold that in order to get your body back into a normal state that understands that this is the new normal and have the whole system sort of remodel itself around the new normal.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm personally dealing with it right now.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm training to qualify for Boston Marathon this year.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm running crazy mileage.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm working on it crazy.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm trying to get down to a specific body weight to maximize my performance.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm 64.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like 215 and I'm lean, six pack whole thing.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: But I still need to lose like another 20 pounds.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: But my body does not want to go any lower than we are now and I'm meticulously track all my exercise all my movement all my sleep every gram of food that goes in my mouth every drink that I drink every calorie and I meticulously consume it all and I have a performance dietitian guiding me through all this at rebel health just what we do.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I still have not been able to break through really that to 10 barrier now going on 60 days except for this morning.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: I was 208.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: It was just a big deal.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: What was the amazing so the set points are there and they're real and they can cross stalls if you're really cutting hard and they can also just provide the springboard in a negative way to rebound back into the state that you were in.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: And if you haven't done all the fundamentals like eat your protein and do your lifts and maintain your muscle mass as best as possible while you're cutting odds are you lost a lot of muscle the same time so you're actually going to re rubber band or you know rebound back into a worse position than you were in the first place.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, and I don't think as a nation with now something like 12% I saw of America on GLP ones.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: Are we prepared for what happens when a start coming off the drug?
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think anybody really wants to be on the drugs for the rest of their lives.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_01]: And you're going to come off, and if you haven't done the work, and if you haven't done it the right way, and if you haven't had a proper medical team, tracking and helping you, and you've just been buying them from a hymns or row, or some shady fucking online quote-unquote telehealth clinic, you're probably setting yourself up for disaster.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about that.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go into that.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_00]: What are your thoughts on peptides?
- 28:29[SPEAKER_00]: We've had a lot of people recently come out and it's always still funny when you hear like the negative parts about it.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_00]: You research who's saying it and they work for like Procter and Gamble or you're like...
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: But what are your thoughts on it?
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: What do your take on it?
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: Have you heard anything scary?
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like the biggest thing was like cancer.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: It makes certain cancer cells multiply, and they don't die off.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I think the first thing one my history peptides I've been using and experimenting with peptides for more than 10 years these are not brand new things and I come from the bodybuilding world where bodybuilders are generally 10 to 15 years ahead of the science they're like 25 years ahead of general population
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: Second thing is, is that there's no therapeutic use that unifies all of these things that people are calling peptides.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: They can do a million different things.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: Technically peptides are like X amount of amino acids in a chain.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: What does that mean for anybody?
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't mean anything.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: But you've got ones that can heal you, you've got ones that can reduce information, you've got ones that can improve your skin and your collagen and your mitochondrial efficiency and your sleep and neurological function and control your hormones for eating and whatnot.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: So whenever somebody says I want to try some peptides, that's just like first warning flag like you just okay, you just heard the word and you're looking for the next thing that's going to be the magic pill.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: being said, there are, I think, two groups that you can put these loosely classified as peptides into.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: One, you've got actual transformative super technologies that are clearly having a massive impact on people's lives, and that it would be the GLP-1 and plus and plus category.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: The semi-glutide turns up
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: they are without a doubt.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: The single most powerful weight loss tool that we've ever come up with, they absolutely work.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_01]: They have some side effects to our some problems to them.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_01]: They're the wrong way to do them.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: They're right way to do them.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: But they absolutely work in their crazy powerful and I strongly suggest not doing it on your own, not buying them.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: Come great.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: There's no such thing as a gray market peptide by the way.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's black market.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's black market.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if you're getting ready to truthide today, it is 80 illegal theft of intellectual property of an unreleased product from lily.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you people can argue all kinds of things back and forth about the moral blah, blah, blah, but the truth is there's no such thing as Grant's on black.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: Compounded Pharmacies right now, same thing, the shortage is ended.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: If you're buying it from a Compounded Pharmacy, they're just doing things to tweak it in order to escape the wall and they have to keep tweaking it and keep changing it.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: And eventually, the law is going to catch, yeah, it's total side, man.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry about that.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: Now on the other side, then you've got things like BPC-157.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: You've got mods.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: You've got GHKCU.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: You've got, it's similar, actually.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: You've got all kinds of stuff.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: There are some of those in there which can be very powerful.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: There are some of those in there which have a lifetime of history and use that people know studies that show that they actually work.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: BPC157 is really famous for when people are using it.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: I've tried it myself.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: There's actually no real studies done on that.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: The only real studies, quote unquote real studies that have done on BPC 1.7, are these European guys?
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think they were check maybe.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: Who were manufacturing the shit in the first place and they just, and they did it all on rats and mice and whatever, and they've extrapolated from there.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: I would suggest in that second group, if you already are not 12% male or 18% female body fat, if you are already not capable of going to the gym and doing consistent resistance training protocol, if you are not already capable of counting your calories and macros and knowing what you need to eat in order to get the maximum benefit, none of those peptides are going to have any impact.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, maybe some of the skin related ones like the copper ones and stuff like I think some of those have some value, but you're just not going to, it's just going to be money poured down the drain.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where again, talking about GLP ones and whatnot.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that the market for peptides go on quote is way overblown because I think most normal people's reaction to trying a peptide is gonna be nothing fucking happened.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: Because even if something did happen, it's gonna be so small that you won't be able to tell because you can't already run three miles without killing yourself and you can't squat your body weight
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: And so I would just strongly recommend if you're interested in, let's just call them new medical technologies, you know, do it under the advice and guidance with a physician, and try not to buy them gray market from China, although I have a direct connect Chinese factories in my WhatsApp work, we've bought and tested tested this shit before ourselves.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, but get the fundamentals right first because they're not going to, they're not going to really move the needle for you.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: Now, everybody in Rebel Health gets a, a doctor that specializes in optimization, longevity, metabolic health.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_01]: They get a certified strength conditioning coach with the CSCS certification, which is the gold standard.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: They get a board certified performance dietitian, not just somebody that got like a nutrition certificate off the internet in a weekend.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: get an epigenetic counselor and a clinical specialist.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody sees all the data.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody knows exactly where you are.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody, everybody talks to each other.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_01]: The doctor leads the whole program.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_01]: We have a very clear clinical pathway that moves you through a 10, 10 tier longevity protocol, starting with metabolic health.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: Many people never get out of that phase because we're talking about getting your sugars in line and lipids in line and your
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know, muscle strength up in your cardiovascular fitness high.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_01]: From there, you know, we do cancer testing and what not before we move you into giving you peptides that may actually increase or at least be somewhat concerning around cancer and we can talk about the data on that.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: Some of these peptides absolutely do angiogenesis, which is the creation of new blood vessels.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's not been clinically tied and showed and proven that they're going to feed cancer, but there is like a theoretical risk around it.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: And so if there's like a test that you can do that's going to show you if you've got any active cancer today before you start doing that, why not do that test first?
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and so we're not they're going to be the place where you can just call us up and be like, yo, I want these peptides.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_01]: I want this testosterone.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: I want these hormones.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I want it.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, maybe we'll get there.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: But first we're going to test in screen and plan and then use the tools that make the most sense at the right time in your trajectory through this protocol and into becoming the best version of yourself possible.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_00]: And good for you, like we need more people and companies like this.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: At rubble, we don't sell any drugs.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have a supplement line.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: We don't sell any peptides.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: We don't sell any tests.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: We don't sell any labs.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: We don't mark up labs.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: We don't make you order labs on purpose just to make money.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: We are what we call a health fiduciary, which means we think we have a duty to you first and foremost, and no one else.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: And it sets us apart because even your standard counts years, longevity practice, you know, even the fancy rooms and all the testing labs, I promise you they make all their money, Alma back and selling you the products that they recommend to you that you need.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, here my doctor, this room is really pretty and this test was really cool.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're telling me I need this product with your label on it and your brand name on it, then I must need it.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: I talked to people that come into our practice from other places that are taking 20 fucking things from their longevity doctor and their concierge doctor to have the brand of the doctor right on it.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_01]: How do you not see the connection here?
- 36:38[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry if I'm offending anybody who's listening.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's true.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_00]: People need to hear this because I'm sure people are like, oh God, that's me.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's me.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_00]: They're talking to me right now.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_00]: They need to know the truth about all of this.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's why I do this podcast.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's nothing but the truth that we're going to give you.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and I love just providing people with just here, listen, listen to this, take this resource, put it in your toolbox, take this, put it in your toolbox and then see what works for you and gather all of your information from all over the place.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_00]: What are the tests and like diagnosis is that people should actually be getting?
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we have access to 3,000 tests on the market, and but we start with a very, very broad and deep blood panel.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's like twice as good as function health or super power inside tracker of any of these services out there.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody gets that, everybody gets a DNA test.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: We would like everybody to also do a DECS scan, which is a full body composition analysis.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's bone density, muscle mass, fat mass, subcutaneous, and bistrofac content.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: We want most people to do a VO2 Max test, but if you're clearly like obese and haven't been working out, there's really no point in doing that.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: Because VO2 Max so important, the measure of your cardiovascular respiratory fitness, the higher we get that number, the lower your chance for all cause mortality across the board.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's falling down.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's from disease.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's from cancer.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's it reduces your chances across the board.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, improving your cardiovascular fitness from poor to good is something like a ten times benefit of quitting smoking like it's that powerful and so when people come to their our doctors.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_01]: And our doctors are like, okay, get with the condition and coach to devise your cardiovascular training plan.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, people are coming to that, you know, coming to us for that.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: The accountability, something we were talking about earlier, is look, you're going to get to know these people.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's your same doctor, it's your same coach, you're going to meet with them regularly, you're going to build a relationship with them.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: And when they say, okay, we're doing this and you agreed to do that and then you put on the calendar a check in in two weeks or in four weeks.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want to come to that check-and-be.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, oh, fuck, I didn't do it.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_01]: No, you don't.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: And when you respect the other person that you've made this commitment to, then the accountability structure becomes much easier.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: And if we don't hear from you, we'll reach out to you.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_01]: We have rotating schedule everybody on your team, reaching out and trying to read your established contact if you.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_01]: So the accountability, the coaching, the plan, the data, all of it is included and, you know, instant messaging, direct access, group chat, direct messages, video conferences on demand like
- 39:19[SPEAKER_01]: We're there for you.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: We're your healthcare family is what people with in our program I've called it.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: Look, look, if you're trapped inside the medical industrial complex, they have zero incentive to actually go the extra mile to try to make you healthy.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_01]: And in fact, your primary care doctor and other doctors benefit by return visits of you to their office and all the followups and whatever they will build for that.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: Now I'll get paid for that.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: On top of that, they're all restricted in what they can do, what they can prescribe, the tests that they can order by the insurance companies, which call all the shots.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: And so if your physician is in the system, the system is working against the physician to be the physicians that they wanted to be when they went to medical school for sure.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_01]: those doctors are trapped as well in the system as well as the patients are.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: And then on top of that, you know, the food environment that we live in, the state of abundance that we live in.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_01]: Just the everything that I used to say, um, if you go with the flow and the rising tide, you will drift out the sea of obesity, chronic disease and a nasty early death.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's no longer
- 40:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, maybe 50 years ago and before through, you know, having to walk places and do manual labor and be outside during sunshine and eat locally produce food and wearing, you know, natural fibers and cotton and wool and whatever, then yes, you could just kind of go through your life and be healthy.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_01]: And today, literally everything is working against you and including the food literally designed by scientists will be a comedictive into making fat and to make you sick.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: Thinking about all those forces working against you, you have to do something to counter balance those forces.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not taking off a supplement.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually, you have to have a strategic plan.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: You have to have a vision for your future of your health.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: Then you have to have day by day tactics and approaches and structures and systems to live by so that you can make you a half a percent point, one percent improvement every week, every month, and then have that compound over time.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_01]: And never stop.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's a problem.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: The minute you let your foot off the gas, you start going back down the hill and they start crab start pulling you back into the
- 41:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so glad that you have the balls to even say that out loud because so many people tiptoe around that and they don't want to say like, no, you can't let your foot off the gas.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_00]: This is a forever thing you have to keep going like this.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_00]: You don't let up.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like, well, how do I get to this level and just like, you know, kind of maintain like, no, your brain's already seeking a way to like make it easier.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, maintenance maintenance is a lie in the sense that you think it's like, oh, I'll just stop in and get an oil change and change the tires every couple of years.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: No maintenance is a vigorous and engaged.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's a programed plan of action that you do every single day and the only reason it's called maintenance, which is a terrible word for it is, but the only reason it's called maintenance is because it's the all the work you need to do to maintain
- 42:48[SPEAKER_01]: that health that you have built, right?
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's not, it's not like magically you reach this destination and you've hit health.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: And now you just focus on something else.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_01]: The way that it becomes less of a focus and you know this, Moza.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: is by the fact that you have actually undergone an entire personal transformation and a health transformation and a lifestyle transformation so that when you wake up in the morning the first thing that you think about is like when am I working out today?
- 43:20[SPEAKER_01]: not if or where or or even what like it's already programmed.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: I know you're just going to do it.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: It becomes second nature.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: That is the part that I think people really struggle with because they are in their current condition.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that dissonance is is really tough because people can't project into the future and see their new self.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you though, and you know this, and I can feel it and live it every day.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: When you get to that new self,
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: You really don't want to go back.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: You really don't want to go back and the maintenance part, it does become easier because your life and don't be scared by this people if you haven't done it yet.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: Your life is different.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: You are different.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's like before you have kids.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: You think, how am I going to live my life and have kids?
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like, how am I going to squeeze these kids into this life?
- 44:13[SPEAKER_01]: I've got my brunches and my dinners out and my dancing and the clubs until 2 in the morning and all my vodka sodas.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: How am I going?
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I probably did not vodka sodas back then.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: That was something later that I learned.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: How am I going to fit all this into my life?
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: And then the kid comes.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_01]: and like everything changes, your mindset changes, your interest change, your habits change, your desires change, and having the kid is like the easiest thing.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, there are parts with that are hard, but I've got three so I know I'm talking about.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: having because the easiest thing because everything around your whole thing is changed your whole mindset everything is changed.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: That similar transformation happens when you hit your goal weight and you run your race time and you look and feel your best you're ever felt and all your whole life is completely different and it just becomes easy then because it's a new you.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, people take their current person who they are and they try to put the worries they have now on that new person, then I'm I'm always like, but that's not you then and you won't even care about that.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_00]: That won't even be a concern then you can't take old you and new you and be like.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_00]: How do we make this work like it?
- 45:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the same.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's not the same.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: And the way that we get people to to engage in the first step of the journey is they come to us on the calls and in our early consults and stuff and they say things like I want to lose weight for the summer or I need to drop amount of pounds or whatever or I have to eat my blood pressure under control.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, sure.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: That is a
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: Why do you want that?
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well, my doctor said before or I've hit family history and I might die or I don't know Deeper than that like really why oh, well, I want to be able to spend more time with my kids or I want to be able to Go outside and roughhouse with my children or play catch with them or lead them on hikes or I always dreamed about writing my bike around Monk and Switzerland or whatever it is
- 46:20[SPEAKER_01]: you have to dig deeper into the identity level motivations that people have and a lot of times they don't know what the motivations are, if the dig down into there and then surf us them and then kind of put them through like a little meditation where you ask them to consider what life would be like if this were the case, like
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: What would your life be like if you were able to spend that time with your children or be there with your spouse or or be the guy that people look up to it work or have positive influence on the people who are around you or take that trip or play that golf or do whatever it is.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: And then they think oh wow that would be really great.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like just sit with that for a second.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_01]: How would that feel?
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that was so awesome.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'd be really proud of myself.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: Or my parents, my kids rather would be like, oh, mom is amazing.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: She's there for me.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: We get to do all of this cool stuff.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I learned all these great things from my mom and my mom is the best person in my life.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: She helped me learn how to be healthy and fit and now look at me.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_01]: Feel that.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_01]: And then use that as the way to put your clothes on to go to the gym as the way to open up that fucking my fitness power and log the food use that as a way to not eat the shitty food to not drink as much as you did before to go to bed earlier than you used to to pay attention and hold that as your motivating factor.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_01]: and then things get a lot easier.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_01]: You start doing, do it for your kids, man.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: You go to work.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: You bust your ass.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I probably wouldn't work as hard to find enough kids.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'd be totally content making math the money and doing half the work and whatever.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_01]: You do so much for your kids as it is, do this for them as well.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: And they will really appreciate it.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: So that identity level shift is, I think, one of the things that stands in people's way and then at the same
- 48:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_00]: You got to play this whole like just this whole episode just on repeat over again because everything you're saying you guys listen to this.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_00]: You don't listen to this episode just once.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_00]: This is a multiple time listening episode and then send it to someone that you know, this is this is like one of them, but this is great.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_00]: I need to know what your seven pillars of longevity are before we go.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: Really curious.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_01]: Two of them might surprise you.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, all right.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe not you, but maybe some people listening.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: One is getting staling.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_01]: That's number one, access that apostasy, the clinical term for being too fat, these are all kinds of terrible shit.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: You got to build muscle.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: You have to put a place for the food that you eat to go into your body.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_01]: Also, if you want to move around, you need to have muscles and we all lose muscle over time, no matter what.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_01]: So if you want to be 65 and able to be sprung, get around, you need to build the muscle in your 30s so that you have enough when you get there at 65.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: You need to move a lot.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_01]: And for some people that's going to be it, I gotta start walking two miles a day.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_01]: For other people that's going to be 10,000 steps a day.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: For other people that's going to be running 30 miles a week.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_01]: The more you can move, there is almost literally no limit to the benefit that you can bring to yourself by moving more.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to move more.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to eat the right foods.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone knows what the right foods are, even if you've diluted yourself into thinking that XYZ is okay.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: Whole foods, lean meats, the right fatty meats, good vegetables, good healthy carbs, good healthy fats, not a bunch of shit, and you know exactly what shit is, don't eat it.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: Sleep, you've got to sleep.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_01]: I took a genetic test that we have and it told me that my optimal sleep window was from 8 to 10 and then 4 to 6 and I was like, oh bullshit, I'm a night owl.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_01]: I was thought I was.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: I used to have to take a sleeping pole to go to sleep and use an alarm clock to get up.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_01]: Once I figured out that it was eight to 10 and four to six, I forced myself to go to bed before 10 o'clock.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_01]: And it only took a little bit, but now I am fallin' asleep at like 845 9 o'clock and I am up at five o'clock.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: No sleeping pills, no alarm clock.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like clockwork, it is where your body heals.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's where your body restores.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: It is where your brain repairs.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_01]: It is where your growth happens.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's where your recovery is found.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_01]: And then you've got to sleep, you have to guard your sleep.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_01]: So that's five.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_01]: The other two that people may not understand.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_01]: One, you have to build a community of people around you.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_01]: Community is scientifically shown to make you happier, healthier, and wealthier.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_01]: You just have community.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_01]: Humans are communal animals.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_01]: We thrive in groups, give, and get the together, succeed together, grow together,
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: Benefit accrued to people in communities, you make networking and connections.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: Everything is better when you're in a community.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_01]: And the final one is you have to have some level of meaning in your life.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_01]: Whether that's a spiritual meaning, whether it's you caring for your children, whether it's running for president, I don't know what it is for you.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's your personal meaning, but you have to have meaning in your life.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_01]: Victor Franco's book, I can't remember the name is escaping me, but he was in the concentration camps and he discovered that if he had a purpose in the camp, then he could thrive in the camp.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_01]: Meaning is going to drive so much for you.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_01]: So those are the five physical ones in the community and meaning on top of that.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, I just wrote them all down.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like, as I know, I have to just write it as he's going.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_00]: But you're right.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_00]: You're absolutely right with every single one.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_00]: And each one takes focus and concentration and support.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_00]: And then you can use your community to support the other things.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, John, this was incredible.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_00]: I absolutely loved this conversation.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_00]: I want to have you on again.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think this would be great to just keep this conversation going.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_00]: Where can people find you?
- 52:18[SPEAKER_00]: Where can how can they connect?
- 52:20[SPEAKER_00]: Well, put everything in the show notes to you guys if you're driving.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, I don't have a pen, put it in the show notes.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_00]: Where can they find you where they can follow you all of it.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_01]: My social media home base is on Twitter or on X at John Goldman.
