- 0:00Melania Trump realized it was a bad idea to give
- 0:02her husband her hand when she couldn't get it
- 0:04back. And new reconstructed audio based on Melania's
- 0:07internal thoughts has been revealed, based on
- 0:09absolutely no evidence whatsoever. Photos of
- 0:15the President and the First Lady emerge looking
- 0:17a little less than thrilled to be together. Melania's
- 0:20public appearances have been 100 % completely
- 0:22normal in every possible way. Yeah, right. And
- 0:25Melania was given the opportunity to make her
- 0:27husband look great on Fox News, but decided to
- 0:30throw him under the bus. Leading off today at
- 0:32the tail end of President Xi's visit, out of
- 0:35nowhere, President Trump grabs Melania's hand.
- 0:37And then things get weird. Their hands start
- 0:40moving back and forth for reasons that are not
- 0:42immediately clear. It looks like Trump is moving
- 0:44Melania's arm around while she's holding on for
- 0:47dear life. And eventually, after what can only
- 0:49be described as a brief hand -to -hand negotiation,
- 0:53Melania wins back the custody of her hand. Then,
- 0:56things seem to return to normal. Trump and Melania
- 0:58walk off in opposite directions. She and Peng
- 1:01are holding hands. Trump and Melania are not.
- 1:03Everyone seems perfectly comfortable with the
- 1:05arrangement. Until later, when this photo emerged.
- 1:09And judging by the looks on their faces, this
- 1:11was not exactly a Kodak moment, Trump looks absolutely
- 1:15miserable, Melania looks just as thrilled, and
- 1:18somehow this photo has become one of the defining
- 1:20images of the visit. But if you've been paying
- 1:22attention to Melania lately, you know this is
- 1:24hardly unusual. We've gotten pretty accustomed
- 1:27to Melania Trump's unusual public appearances.
- 1:30Recently she was talking about the importance
- 1:31of preserving historic architecture at the White
- 1:33House, which sounds like a great initiative until
- 1:35you realize the circumstances. The White House
- 1:39stands as an architectural autobiography of America.
- 1:44Right, an architectural autobiography that your
- 1:47husband just demolished. So we put a nice backdrop
- 1:51to this speech, which we think is a lot more
- 1:53appropriate. Embodying the enduring values of
- 1:57ambition, democracy, and civic life with its
- 2:02design, craftsmanship, and the objects. Honestly,
- 2:08I don't know how she does these things with a
- 2:10straight face. Does she not see the irony here?
- 2:13Then there was the classroom visit where she
- 2:15didn't know what an egg was, but she asked if
- 2:17she could put it in. I'm not kidding, here's
- 2:20that moment. It's called an egg. That's right,
- 2:27she looked at something that was identical to
- 2:29an egg and asked, what is this? Go ahead and
- 2:33put it in. Suffice it to say the vibes were off
- 2:43between Melania and this robot. Although there
- 2:45are plenty of other robots that Melania gets
- 2:47along great with. I'm sure you all remember this
- 2:50iconic moment. And just earlier this week she
- 2:54stood next to her husband while he went after
- 2:56CNN. It's an honor to be here. I'm surprised
- 2:59that CNN is here covering me. The United Nations
- 3:02allowed us in, sir. You should not be here covering
- 3:05me. You said you weren't going to cover me. You
- 3:07shouldn't be covering me. Two -thirds of Americans
- 3:08don't think that the US is winning the war. While
- 3:11Trump was sparring with Caitlin Collins, Melania's
- 3:14facial expressions appeared to tell an entirely
- 3:15different story, which, of course, I interpreted.
- 3:19Case in point, here's a clip of what I think
- 3:21Melania's internal dialogue might be based on
- 3:23absolutely no evidence whatsoever. Don't give
- 3:27a fuck about the UN. I'm working my ass off,
- 3:30but I need to do it right that smell It's intolerable.
- 3:35I can't hold his hand anymore. I said no touching
- 3:40This is why we hired mentally Listen if he wants
- 3:44touching my rate is going up You probably guessed
- 3:47that's AI, but I just wanted to tell you it definitely
- 3:50is AI, but as a lot of people noticed on the
- 3:52internet, they know it's fake, but they still
- 3:55think it's really funny. I'm just here doing
- 3:57what I do best, filling in the gaps whenever
- 3:59I get the opportunity. I said no touching. Anyway,
- 4:04when Milani appeared on stage today and casually
- 4:06tossed a microphone behind her back, obviously
- 4:08I was paying attention. She didn't discreetly
- 4:11put it somewhere, she didn't hand it to somebody,
- 4:13she just... tossed it behind her. Every time
- 4:15Elani appears in public, I put my popcorn in
- 4:18the microwave. Like, remember that time she showed
- 4:20up at inauguration dressed like the hamburglar?
- 4:23She never disappoints. But this time, it wasn't
- 4:27just the microphone that caught my attention,
- 4:29it was the event itself. Melania was there to
- 4:31launch something called Imperia. It's described
- 4:34as a forum bringing together women who determine
- 4:36the next decade of business. And look, helping
- 4:38women succeed in business is obviously a good
- 4:40thing. I wholeheartedly agree with the goal.
- 4:42But there was something about this particular
- 4:44event that I found interesting. Because if you're
- 4:47launching a forum about the future of business,
- 4:49you'd probably expect the person behind it to
- 4:51have a fairly substantial business track record.
- 4:54And that brings us to the Melania's fellow guest,
- 4:57Lisa Su. Lisa Su is the CEO of AMD, and this
- 5:00is not a woman who needs much of an introduction
- 5:03in the business world. AMD recently crossed a
- 5:05trillion dollar valuation under her leadership.
- 5:08She's an engineer, she's been running one of
- 5:10the world's most important semiconductor companies.
- 5:12She's literally a titan of the technology industry.
- 5:15So I'm sitting here thinking, okay, Lisa Su.
- 5:18Melania Trump. These two are apparently here
- 5:21to talk about the future of business, so what
- 5:23exactly does Melania bring to the table? Well,
- 5:27there's the architecture degree, except no there
- 5:29isn't. Melania's biography and website once described
- 5:33her as having studied design and architecture,
- 5:35but reporting in 2016 found that she had not
- 5:37actually graduated with an architecture degree,
- 5:40so scratch that. What else? Well, she's married
- 5:44to a very successful businessman, although of
- 5:46course her husband has had six corporate bankruptcies.
- 5:49So maybe that's not quite the business resume
- 5:52we're looking for either. And then there's your
- 5:54documentary. Amazon reportedly committed about
- 5:56$75 million between acquiring and promoting the
- 5:59film, and the movie opened to around $7 million
- 6:02at the domestic box office. So that's leaving
- 6:04about $68 million on the table to claw back just
- 6:07to break even. Which certainly makes an interesting
- 6:11business story. I'm just not entirely sure what
- 6:13lesson we're supposed to take from it. Maybe
- 6:15the movie was reading the art of the deal. And
- 6:18of course, we also know Melania loves online
- 6:20shopping, so she clearly understands the fundamentals
- 6:23of commerce. She buys things, things get delivered.
- 6:26That's business, right? I'm coming up a little
- 6:28short here, and I'm still trying to figure out
- 6:30what Melania Trump and Lisa Sue have in common.
- 6:33But maybe, maybe that explains what happened
- 6:35next. Melania came out on stage, she sat beside
- 6:38Lisa Sue and the host, and then she tossed the
- 6:41microphone behind her and said absolutely nothing.
- 6:44Now I could be wrong, maybe she simply didn't
- 6:46want to speak, maybe the microphone was in the
- 6:48way, maybe she was just finished with it, but
- 6:50watching the moment, I couldn't help thinking,
- 6:52perhaps she felt a little out of place sitting
- 6:54next to actual titans of industry, because What
- 6:57exactly was she supposed to add? I'll play you
- 6:59now the host acknowledging Melania's presence.
- 7:02Thank you all so much for being here. And Madam
- 7:04First Lady, you have brought together such a
- 7:07concentration of female firepower here, which
- 7:11brings together people who are not only having
- 7:13a seat at the table, but who now will have the
- 7:16power to change what happens at the table. So
- 7:19congratulations on Imperial. Yay, congratulations.
- 7:24for just sitting there? And she made a comment
- 7:27about Milani and Lisa Su that sounded almost
- 7:29like she was trying to convince herself. These
- 7:31two are actually pals. It's great to have you
- 7:34both. They're actually pals. I'm guessing she
- 7:37used the word actually because it sounds just
- 7:39as ridiculous to her as it did to the rest of
- 7:41us. These two are actually pals. It's great to
- 7:44have you both. Watching them together they looked
- 7:46about as cozy as two strangers sharing a 45 minute
- 7:49Uber ride. And then the host turned to Lisa and
- 7:51started talking about all of her incredible accomplishments.
- 7:54And that's when things got even more awkward,
- 7:56because after talking about Lisa, the host suddenly
- 7:59turned to Melania. And then Melania left. That's
- 8:16it. She stood up to applause, walked off the
- 8:19stage, and left the microphone sitting in a chair.
- 8:21Meanwhile, the host and Lisa kept clapping as
- 8:23they watched her go. And I have to say, I'm not
- 8:26sure I've ever seen someone be thanked quite
- 8:28so enthusiastically for doing quite so little.
- 8:31And that was Melania's big appearance at a forum
- 8:33about the future of business. A short stage appearance,
- 8:35a microphone tossed behind her back, an implausible
- 8:37friendship, a very generous thank you, and then...
- 8:41an exit, finally allowing everyone to exhale.
- 8:44I'm exhausted and I'm a lot of popcorn. I think
- 8:48we've got a concept here for MelaniaVision because
- 8:51I'd pay for a subscription. If this is what happens
- 8:53every time Melania appears in public, I think
- 8:56we've got a television network. How is the president
- 8:59doing in Trump 2 as compared to Trump 1? But
- 9:02that wasn't it of the unusual public appearances.
- 9:05Melania went on Fox News to talk about the launch
- 9:07of Imperia. which admittedly was pretty boring,
- 9:11but that didn't last long when Melania was asked
- 9:13a softball question and Melania responded with
- 9:15a difficult answer. How do you see him handling
- 9:18the job differently? He's very focused. He has
- 9:23a lot on his plate. It's very different what's
- 9:26going on around the world now. What's going on
- 9:29around the world now? Oh, you mean the war that
- 9:32he started? Yeah, that is pretty different Melania.
- 9:36But I think he's doing the best that he can.
- 9:40Ouch. He works non -stop. He has the most energy
- 9:43than anybody. He's from morning till evening
- 9:48non -stop working. Oh, she had me at the best
- 9:52he can do. I think that's about the worst thing
- 9:55that Melania could possibly say about Donald
- 9:57Trump. He's doing the best he can. It implies
- 10:00that... He doesn't really have the capacity to
- 10:03do very well, but he is doing it at his absolute
- 10:06best. Great, Melania. That's what we see. Absolutely.
- 10:11Thank you so much for being here. And so are
- 10:13you working nonstop. Melania working nonstop.
- 10:17This is the same woman who took up to 30 days
- 10:19off at a time from her official duties. I'm not
- 10:22sure this is a news interview or an arm of state
- 10:26-run propaganda. Another movie? Yeah, that's
- 10:39right. Milani is getting ready for a two -part
- 10:42docu -series. And the Daily Show has tried to
- 10:45figure out what actually might be in that documentary,
- 10:47so they put together a fun promo. In January,
- 10:52one documentary changed the world. Here we go
- 10:54again. And now she will change the world again.
- 10:57Here we go again. Introducing a new Melania movie.
- 11:00We don't have exact date yet. Sometime soon.
- 11:03It's coming out. Any day. Any day. Prepare yourself.
- 11:08November, maybe November. Block out November.
- 11:11And if you think this is just another cash grab
- 11:14like the last movie, you're wrong. It will be
- 11:16very different what is in the movie. It could
- 11:18be about anything. She's been talking about robots
- 11:21a lot lately. Maybe that. The robots are here.
- 11:24We're speculating here. So this November, maybe
- 11:27watch Melania 2, if that's what we're calling
- 11:30it. It's very exciting. So it's kind of exciting.
- 11:33It's kind of exciting. Thanks for watching Breaking
- 11:36Absurdity. And remember, don't stare into the
- 11:39abyss alone, let's do it together. Like, subscribe,
