- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, my name's Santasha Nabananga Bamblet. I'm a proud your
- 0:04Speaker 1: the Order Kerni Whoalbury and a waddery woman. And before
- 0:08Speaker 1: we get started on She's on the Money podcast, I
- 0:11Speaker 1: would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land
- 0:14Speaker 1: of which this podcast is recorded on a wondery country,
- 0:18Speaker 1: acknowledging the elders, the ancestors and the next generation coming through.
- 0:23Speaker 1: As this podcast is about connecting, empowering, knowledge sharing and
- 0:27Speaker 1: the storytelling of you to make a difference for today
- 0:31Speaker 1: and lasting impact for tomorrow.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Let's get into it.
- 0:34Speaker 3: She's on the Money. She's on the Money.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Hello, and welcome to She's on the the podcast for
- 1:01Speaker 4: millennials who want financial freedom. Today, guys is Friday's Surprise.
- 1:06Speaker 4: It is time to sit back with the girls with
- 1:08Speaker 4: a beven hand to unpack our favorite moments of the week,
- 1:11Speaker 4: and of course, to celebrate you, our incredible Shees on
- 1:15Speaker 4: the Money community. As always, we're going to be sharing
- 1:17Speaker 4: our favorite money wins. We're going to discuss what's making
- 1:20Speaker 4: news in the finance world, and we're going to help
- 1:22Speaker 4: answer a money question, which this week is all about
- 1:25Speaker 4: whether our online course is applicable internationally. But first, as always,
- 1:30Speaker 4: it is time to recap the week that was, and
- 1:32Speaker 4: miss jessic Ricci, I usually let you do this one,
- 1:35Speaker 4: but this time I'm going to do it on Monday's
- 1:38Speaker 4: Money Diary. My favorite part about it was really highlighting
- 1:42Speaker 4: the importance of the ndies and just how important the
- 1:45Speaker 4: work that everybody in that space does. It's one of
- 1:48Speaker 4: those things that I don't think we talk enough about,
- 1:50Speaker 4: and I hope that in the future we get a
- 1:52Speaker 4: whole heap more money diarists on the show that can
- 1:54Speaker 4: showcase all the different facets that you can work in.
- 1:57Speaker 4: All right, Georgia King, it is time to let you
- 2:00Speaker 4: have your turn to shine. What happened on Wednesday?
- 2:03Speaker 5: On Wednesday, you and the glorious Jessica Richie spoke all
- 2:07Speaker 5: about financial self care?
- 2:09Speaker 2: Oh, one of my favorite topics. Yeah, well, it's not
- 2:12Speaker 2: something that we've.
- 2:12Speaker 5: Really spoken about that much on the podcast, speak a
- 2:15Speaker 5: lot about on instag aroount it.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Do you yeah? But you never go on in star
- 2:19Speaker 2: that's true? Do you not a plan to do it?
- 2:23Speaker 2: Do you know?
- 2:24Speaker 4: It was like a do you yeah? No, I do
- 2:27Speaker 4: because it's actually really important, but you would know that
- 2:29Speaker 4: so it might have been the first time you heard
- 2:31Speaker 4: the topic.
- 2:31Speaker 5: Well it wasn't. It was super interesting, super wholesome, and
- 2:34Speaker 5: I think really good for people who are particularly harsh
- 2:37Speaker 5: on themselves when it comes to finance as well.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Right, absolutely, And I think it's a really important topic
- 2:42Speaker 4: to cover because sometimes we don't give ourselves enough leniency
- 2:45Speaker 4: in the finance space because we think it always has
- 2:47Speaker 4: to be perfect when that is not necessarily the case.
- 2:50Speaker 5: One hundred percent really resonated with me as someone who
- 2:53Speaker 5: you know, has a bit of a reputation as a
- 2:55Speaker 5: tight us or. I did that you literally just bagging
- 3:00Speaker 5: me for not having a seventy dollars bloody of self
- 3:02Speaker 5: care water bottle or whatever.
- 3:03Speaker 2: They all right, no one was bagging you.
- 3:05Speaker 4: The thing we were getting spicy about is George King,
- 3:08Speaker 4: is that single use of the bus.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Or you've used it.
- 3:13Speaker 4: More than one time, but it will go to landfill.
- 3:16Speaker 4: You just need a drink bottle. You don't need one
- 3:18Speaker 4: of the fancy gal Frank Green ones. You don't need
- 3:20Speaker 4: an emotional support water bottle. You just need one that
- 3:23Speaker 4: could be used more than one time without leaking BPA
- 3:25Speaker 4: into your body.
- 3:26Speaker 2: But that's all right.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Let's move on because I want to hear Georgia King
- 3:29Speaker 4: some positive things from you today at about single use Plastic.
- 3:33Speaker 4: I want to hear your budget direct money wins. What
- 3:35Speaker 4: have you got today?
- 3:36Speaker 5: Okay, so the first win of the week is actually
- 3:38Speaker 5: a loss, but it's wholesome. It comes from Kate money loss.
- 3:42Speaker 5: I went part time at my primary workplace last year
- 3:45Speaker 5: for a better work life balance, and I love picked
- 3:47Speaker 5: up a second job for the off days, which has
- 3:49Speaker 5: made me so much happier after financial self care. Yep,
- 3:54Speaker 5: the next win comes from Naomi money win. I thought
- 3:57Speaker 5: as a casual nurse I would miss out on the
- 3:59Speaker 5: bonus payment from New South Wales Health. I woke up
- 4:02Speaker 5: this morning to find one thousand, seven hundred and seventy
- 4:04Speaker 5: five dollars have been paid into my account.
- 4:06Speaker 2: That's a lot of money.
- 4:07Speaker 5: I only got taxed to fifty dollars as well. What
- 4:10Speaker 5: I then remembered that I was a permanent worker at
- 4:12Speaker 5: the start of the pandemic for ten months before stepping
- 4:15Speaker 5: down as a casual and I still worked full time hours.
- 4:17Speaker 5: So I'm super stoked to have these extra savings. Here's
- 4:19Speaker 5: the wholesome Park Gillies. I also sent my mum at
- 4:22Speaker 5: three hundred dollars of my payments too, but she was
- 4:26Speaker 5: excluded because she works in a different kind of system.
- 4:29Speaker 5: But she's feeling really grateful. What a good thing to
- 4:32Speaker 5: come from the Panini exactly right. The next win comes
- 4:36Speaker 5: from Shelley Money Win. I paid off a twenty four
- 4:38Speaker 5: thousand dollars credit card debt left over from my divorce. Yes,
- 4:42Speaker 5: que I feel so freelle incredible. The next win comes
- 4:46Speaker 5: from Daniel. I did a clear out of things laying
- 4:49Speaker 5: around the house on Marketplace. I got rid of foot rests,
- 4:52Speaker 5: an old TV cabinet, a coffee table, some clothes, and
- 4:55Speaker 5: various baskets slash planters. I managed to scrape together over
- 4:59Speaker 5: three hundred dollars.
- 5:00Speaker 2: That's so good.
- 5:01Speaker 4: I need someone to come do that in my house.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Do you know what that would be a good side hustle?
- 5:06Speaker 4: Like advertise your services you toaste, take a clip of it.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Maybe I'll take twenty percent, go around your house selly stuff.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Probably should be more hands on with that for the while.
- 5:14Speaker 4: I'll come home with nothing in my mouse.
- 5:17Speaker 5: Alright, that's all right? What else have you got today?
- 5:19Speaker 5: The next week and it comes from Victoria. I saved
- 5:22Speaker 5: a great name. I saved myself around four thousand dollars
- 5:25Speaker 5: last year. And here's how I switched to prepaid mobile.
- 5:28Speaker 5: I canceled my monthly beauty box subscription.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Is that mecca? Probably like a baler box or what
- 5:35Speaker 2: of those?
- 5:35Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 5:36Speaker 2: Not the beauty Loop. Those are free.
- 5:37Speaker 4: All you have to do is spend a lot of money.
- 5:40Speaker 5: Victoria also canceled one of her two streaming subscriptions, started
- 5:45Speaker 5: making coffee at home instead of buying takeaway. The next
- 5:48Speaker 5: on her list is to tackle her grocery budget and
- 5:51Speaker 5: make lunches for work instead of purchasing them out. That's
- 5:54Speaker 5: huge savings.
- 5:54Speaker 2: So that really wasn't me?
- 5:57Speaker 1: No?
- 5:57Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you finally read one of mine now. No.
- 6:03Speaker 5: The final win of today, Guys, is very wholesome. Again
- 6:06Speaker 5: it comes from Tara money win. After discovering she's on
- 6:09Speaker 5: the money during lockdowns in Melbourne, I completely changed my
- 6:13Speaker 5: money story, yes clean, after believing for years I couldn't
- 6:16Speaker 5: buy a house on my own, so why even bother saving.
- 6:19Speaker 5: This week I got the keys to my first ever
- 6:22Speaker 5: home and I did it all by myself with the
- 6:25Speaker 5: investment in a bias agent. Interesting, all of my moving
- 6:29Speaker 5: and new home costs were saved for it, so it's
- 6:31Speaker 5: been completely stress free. I cannot thank that she's on
- 6:35Speaker 5: the money team enough.
- 6:36Speaker 2: I have How sweet is that? That's so wholesome? I
- 6:39Speaker 2: literally love that. It makes me so happy hearing you guys.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Kill it absolutely is that all you've got?
- 6:45Speaker 2: That that was a very good place to leave it.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I love it.
- 6:49Speaker 4: It has as always been fantastic celebrating your budget Direct
- 6:52Speaker 4: money wins Budget Direct winner of Canstars Insurer of the
- 6:55Speaker 4: Year Award twenty twenty two.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Budget Direct Insurance Solved.
- 7:00Speaker 4: All right, we are going to go to a really
- 7:01Speaker 4: quick break and when we get back, we're going to
- 7:02Speaker 4: talk about that she's on the Money Budget and cash
- 7:04Speaker 4: Flow master class. Bit self serving, but someone asked, so
- 7:06Speaker 4: we got to answer the people's questions. Georgie King, don't
- 7:09Speaker 4: look at.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Me like that.
- 7:10Speaker 4: And in Finance News we're going to talk about some
- 7:12Speaker 4: changes being made in Tasmania to gambling law.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Don't go anywhere.
- 7:20Speaker 6: Okay, guys, I have a really cool update to share.
- 7:24Speaker 2: George.
- 7:24Speaker 6: You actually shared this with me and I was like,
- 7:27Speaker 6: this is incredible. I want to see it everywhere, so
- 7:29Speaker 6: of course I want to talk about it with the community.
- 7:31Speaker 6: Our friends across the ditch. Is that what we call
- 7:34Speaker 6: them in Tazi or is it a little ditch? But
- 7:36Speaker 6: the small is New Zealand but a smaller ditch basically
- 7:39Speaker 6: the same thing. Our friends in Tasmania have implemented a
- 7:43Speaker 6: new law which caps losses on gambling, or will cap
- 7:47Speaker 6: losses on gambling, I should say by twenty twenty four.
- 7:50Speaker 6: So they have announced they will implement new rules to
- 7:53Speaker 6: minimize harm from electronic gambling machines, which will include a
- 7:56Speaker 6: cap on how much a person can lose. It'll be
- 7:59Speaker 6: implemented in hotels, clubs and casinos, so I guess everywhere
- 8:03Speaker 6: that you can gamble, although not online. Maybe that would
- 8:05Speaker 6: be harder to police.
- 8:06Speaker 4: I don't think you can police it because obviously you
- 8:08Speaker 4: can gamble internationally if you really wanted to.
- 8:11Speaker 6: But they're going to implement a system which would make
- 8:13Speaker 6: sense as to why it won't really work for online.
- 8:15Speaker 6: So it'll be a card based system which will make
- 8:18Speaker 6: the gambling machines cashless. Cards will hold limits on the
- 8:21Speaker 6: amount that can be lost by the gambler, so the
- 8:23Speaker 6: default limits will be one hundred dollars a day, five
- 8:25Speaker 6: hundred dollars a month and five thousand dollars a year.
- 8:28Speaker 6: Your bloody love to see it because.
- 8:30Speaker 4: I think a lot of people might be salty about
- 8:32Speaker 4: it because obviously it's their decision and whatnot, But like
- 8:35Speaker 4: that's just responsible.
- 8:37Speaker 6: We did an episode a little while ago all about gambling,
- 8:40Speaker 6: and we've had a money diarist one before also who
- 8:42Speaker 6: spoke about the impacts that chronic gambling had on her family.
- 8:45Speaker 6: I think it was one of her parents. The system
- 8:47Speaker 6: is essentially meant to stop people from losing more than
- 8:50Speaker 6: they can afford, which, as we know, is like the
- 8:52Speaker 6: big downfall of gambling is the addictive nature. It sets
- 8:55Speaker 6: off all of these hormones in your brain and you
- 8:56Speaker 6: just can't stop, and people are gambling away life savings
- 8:59Speaker 6: before they know it about it. The limits on these
- 9:01Speaker 6: cards can be lowered at any time, and within certain
- 9:03Speaker 6: parameters will be able to be increased if a player
- 9:06Speaker 6: can prove that they can afford it. I would be
- 9:08Speaker 6: interested to know, and because obviously this legislation hasn't fully
- 9:10Speaker 6: come into play yet, we don't have all of the information,
- 9:14Speaker 6: but I would hope that there would be an overarching cap,
- 9:17Speaker 6: like even if you're a millionaire, let's not let someone
- 9:20Speaker 6: lose a million dollars, do you know what I mean?
- 9:22Speaker 6: I'd be interested to know how they measure that as well,
- 9:24Speaker 6: because jess As you know, going through a pre approval
- 9:26Speaker 6: process with a mortgage, you have to give them your
- 9:29Speaker 6: budget and your cash flow and work all of that
- 9:31Speaker 6: out and they tell you what you can afford. What
- 9:33Speaker 6: are they going to do that now with gambling? Like,
- 9:35Speaker 6: I don't know how I feel about that. I think
- 9:37Speaker 6: the across the board rules are kind of good. I
- 9:40Speaker 6: liked the idea of that too. It's really interesting though,
- 9:42Speaker 6: because the Tasmanian Hospitality Association called the government's decision a
- 9:47Speaker 6: slap in the face to hotel and pub customers and
- 9:49Speaker 6: hard working small and family businesses in Tasmania.
- 9:53Speaker 2: And is it. I don't want to be a dick.
- 9:56Speaker 6: So if you own a small family business that has
- 9:59Speaker 6: a retin to get it, please don't take this the
- 10:02Speaker 6: wrong way. But the businesses in my mind that are
- 10:04Speaker 6: going to be most impacted by these are the big conglomerates.
- 10:08Speaker 6: It's your local casinos, it's your local tab there's one
- 10:11Speaker 6: in my area and there are people that you see
- 10:13Speaker 6: sitting there. It's right next to a party shop that
- 10:15Speaker 6: I frequent regularly, which is why I know so much
- 10:18Speaker 6: about it. For you're, gee, people sitting there and I'll
- 10:21Speaker 6: go in and I'll come out four hours later, and
- 10:22Speaker 6: some people still haven't moved.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Like they're rules that you can't gamble for twenty four
- 10:27Speaker 4: hours straight. It was only recently. I think it was
- 10:29Speaker 4: like a couple of weeks ago that Sydney's Star Casino.
- 10:32Speaker 4: It was like all through the news they could lose
- 10:34Speaker 4: their license after they were found to be unfit to
- 10:36Speaker 4: operate because they were allowing people to gamble for like
- 10:39Speaker 4: twenty four hours straight and giving them free drinks and
- 10:42Speaker 4: giving them free food so they never have to leave.
- 10:44Speaker 4: And I just thought that was so wild, because to
- 10:46Speaker 4: be honest, I hadn't even thought about it recently. Yeah,
- 10:49Speaker 4: but you know, I think these introductions are actually a
- 10:52Speaker 4: step in the right direction because gambling, you don't get
- 10:55Speaker 4: anything good out of it.
- 10:56Speaker 6: I view the industry personally as very predatory, and that's
- 11:00Speaker 6: my opinion. I know for some people, maybe Grand Final
- 11:03Speaker 6: was a couple of weeks ago, maybe you want to
- 11:05Speaker 6: back your team, put a little bit of money on it.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Like I get that.
- 11:08Speaker 6: I personally have actually never gambled and that's a personal
- 11:11Speaker 6: choice that I made, but I think as in industry,
- 11:14Speaker 6: it really capitalizes on people who are more often than not,
- 11:16Speaker 6: in a vulnerable position. And so for me, this regulation
- 11:20Speaker 6: seems like an amazing thing, and I really wanted to
- 11:22Speaker 6: bring it up because I want us and anyone who
- 11:25Speaker 6: agrees with it to be vocal about supporting it, because
- 11:28Speaker 6: I would love to see this implemented Australia.
- 11:31Speaker 3: White.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's a really good step in the
- 11:33Speaker 4: right direction, because it's just it's too detrimental to too
- 11:36Speaker 4: many people.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Speaking of how detrimental vd in the twenty seventeen to
- 11:41Speaker 5: twenty eighteen financial year, Australians lost twenty four billion dollars
- 11:46Speaker 5: on gambling.
- 11:47Speaker 2: This is no small problem.
- 11:49Speaker 4: It's crazy, which makes me wonder because obviously what rules
- 11:53Speaker 4: the world.
- 11:53Speaker 2: It's not girls. Girls don't rule the world girls girls
- 11:56Speaker 2: from this much. No, it's rich people. It's money.
- 11:59Speaker 4: So I'd be really interested to see how the families
- 12:02Speaker 4: who own these companies, because they're not government run companies
- 12:04Speaker 4: like Crown Casino obviously massive, how they're going to respond
- 12:08Speaker 4: because that would be a majority of their revenue would
- 12:10Speaker 4: be coming from gambling, So how are they going to
- 12:14Speaker 4: be trying to fight back on this and how many
- 12:16Speaker 4: people you know. I'm not saying that we will pay
- 12:18Speaker 4: people off, but how much money is going to exchange
- 12:20Speaker 4: hands in the background to make sure that this, you know,
- 12:22Speaker 4: takes as long as possible.
- 12:24Speaker 6: On your Tasmania, I will be personally very loud and
- 12:27Speaker 6: proud in supporting this.
- 12:28Speaker 2: I it produces the best podcasters too.
- 12:30Speaker 6: I go something good in the water.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Nice, nice the water.
- 12:34Speaker 4: They're easy lat Yeah, let's move on though, George, what
- 12:37Speaker 4: is it time for?
- 12:37Speaker 5: It's time for a money to Lemma. Hi, there have
- 12:42Speaker 5: you got up money dilemma you just can't solve? The
- 12:44Speaker 5: Sheese on the Money team is here to help. Every

- 12:53Speaker 5: get involved, simply head to our website and leave us
- 12:56Speaker 5: a quick voice recording and you may just find yourself
- 12:58Speaker 5: on the show. Now, let's take a listen to today's
- 13:00Speaker 5: money dilemma.
- 13:03Speaker 7: Hi, I wanted to know if this master course works
- 13:08Speaker 7: for people living within Canada and in terms of like
- 13:13Speaker 7: the resources, like how complicated are they to understand? Like
- 13:18Speaker 7: if you have a very basic understanding of things or
- 13:20Speaker 7: if like you're a student, for instance, because I'm a
- 13:22Speaker 7: student right now and I went through something quite difficult,
- 13:27Speaker 7: like my mom recently passed, so I'm having a lot
- 13:30Speaker 7: of trouble with finances and figuring things out in that sense,
- 13:34Speaker 7: would this course help me be able to manage my
- 13:39Speaker 7: money better?
- 13:40Speaker 2: I mean tail day a. Yes. Would you like the
- 13:44Speaker 2: long version though? Goes please?
- 13:46Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Well, I actually think this is probably a really good
- 13:48Speaker 4: time to flip it around. Like I'm quite biased. I
- 13:51Speaker 4: actually created the Budget and cash Flow master Class, and
- 13:53Speaker 4: I did create it with an international audience in mind,
- 13:56Speaker 4: which is why we don't talk about anything when it
- 13:58Speaker 4: comes to superannuation or Ralian tax rates. You have to
- 14:01Speaker 4: use your after tax income to put into the Budget
- 14:04Speaker 4: and Cashulow Masterclass, just to make sure that as many
- 14:07Speaker 4: people as possible can use it around the world. But Jess,
- 14:10Speaker 4: you use this pretty religiously, which makes me so happy,
- 14:13Speaker 4: Like it strokes my ego every time you're like, oh,
- 14:15Speaker 4: I'm dead my budget.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I'm language one though, and then you tell me it
- 14:18Speaker 2: was mine and I love it.
- 14:19Speaker 4: But Jess, talk to me about what it kind of
- 14:22Speaker 4: does for you and why you like it above and
- 14:24Speaker 4: beyond just keeping your own spreadsheet.
- 14:26Speaker 6: I think I just like that. I mean, firstly, I'm
- 14:29Speaker 6: not credit Excel. I'm pretty sure I told you that
- 14:31Speaker 6: when you interviewed me for my drawer. Was like, I
- 14:34Speaker 6: didn't even ask I one of them. I didn't even
- 14:36Speaker 6: say to jessl what are your weaknesses? She was like,
- 14:38Speaker 6: all right, just before we go, I just want to
- 14:40Speaker 6: be really clear. I know you're really good at spreadsheets.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I am not. I will not be good at that,
- 14:44Speaker 2: like ma, the transparency roll on through. But yeah, I
- 14:47Speaker 2: like that.
- 14:48Speaker 6: Firstly, it's on another level to anything that I ever
- 14:51Speaker 6: could put together myself. It's aesthetically pleasing, which is not
- 14:53Speaker 6: the most important thing, but for someone who's visual like me,
- 14:57Speaker 6: it's really helpful because it breaks things down the functionality
- 15:01Speaker 6: of it. I don't even know how you again, I
- 15:02Speaker 6: don't know anything about Excel, but I can You're like,
- 15:05Speaker 6: I don't even know how you did this. I'm like,
- 15:06Speaker 6: it is it is a secret. Maybe I'm not the
- 15:08Speaker 6: good person to explain this, but like, that's why.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I sell it.
- 15:10Speaker 6: I'm not going to tell you how I made it
- 15:12Speaker 6: my secret sauce, but like idding a lot of coding,
- 15:15Speaker 6: a lot of macros, a lot of background stuff that
- 15:17Speaker 6: it's too hard to worry, don't try. But I can
- 15:20Speaker 6: input whatever I'm earning or whatever I'm spending. It automatically
- 15:24Speaker 6: figures out. If I put in my salary, which is
- 15:26Speaker 6: paid monthly, but I pay this bill fortnightly. There's just
- 15:30Speaker 6: a little drop down box that I click. It does
- 15:32Speaker 6: the maths for me. And as someone who's not a
- 15:35Speaker 6: math scal I can't tell you how helpful that is.
- 15:38Speaker 6: I don't have to worry about figuring it out or going, oh,
- 15:40Speaker 6: this is fortnitly, this is monthly, and this one comes
- 15:42Speaker 6: out weekly. I can just figure it all out. I
- 15:45Speaker 6: plug it in. There's heaps of pages, and then you
- 15:47Speaker 6: get to the end and it tells you exactly what's
- 15:49Speaker 6: coming in, exactly what's going out. It does that nice
- 15:52Speaker 6: little diagram where if you follow the bank account method
- 15:55Speaker 6: that you recommend, like, it tells you exactly what to
- 15:57Speaker 6: put wear. And it is just so helpful for someone
- 16:01Speaker 6: who has never been great at that kind of thing,
- 16:05Speaker 6: to have it taken off your hands and all automated
- 16:07Speaker 6: is amazing. And then I don't have to call you
- 16:09Speaker 6: every five seconds and be like, how do I calculate this?
- 16:11Speaker 6: Because it just does it for me.
- 16:13Speaker 4: I think that that was my main priority when making it,
- 16:15Speaker 4: because I felt like everyone kind of has a control
- 16:18Speaker 4: or an idea of a budget, Right, George, I know
- 16:20Speaker 4: you don't use it because I've given it to you
- 16:21Speaker 4: and you have an open to the email. But I
- 16:24Speaker 4: know that a lot of people might be good at
- 16:27Speaker 4: creating their own budgets.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:28Speaker 4: You might sit down and you might do it on paper,
- 16:29Speaker 4: or you might get a spreadsheet, or you might get
- 16:31Speaker 4: a word document, you might go buy a fancy Kiki
- 16:33Speaker 4: k journal. Like, I don't know everyone's good at writing down.
- 16:37Speaker 4: I'm not saying you're doing it because too many people
- 16:40Speaker 4: need to actually pull their heads out of the sand
- 16:42Speaker 4: and actually do this. But you might be good at
- 16:44Speaker 4: writing down how much you're spending, but I guarantee you're
- 16:46Speaker 4: not actually taking that next step and putting cash flow
- 16:49Speaker 4: into the component. Because budgeting, Yeah, it's great, but budgeting's
- 16:52Speaker 4: not about being restrictive. It's actually about understanding how many
- 16:55Speaker 4: dollars come in, how many dollars go out where they're going,
- 16:58Speaker 4: to make sure that you're comfortable with where they're going.
- 17:01Speaker 4: But then overlaying a cash flow system to go. Okay, George,
- 17:04Speaker 4: I need to make sure that every dollar that comes
- 17:06Speaker 4: into your account is working as hard as you do
- 17:09Speaker 4: for it, and it's about having a cash flow system
- 17:12Speaker 4: that works for you. And obviously having been a financial
- 17:15Speaker 4: advisor for umpty years and working with people day in
- 17:19Speaker 4: day out on either their budget and cash flow or
- 17:21Speaker 4: you know, their investing journey, the biggest pain point was like, oh,
- 17:25Speaker 4: y I've done a budget, but I don't know what
- 17:26Speaker 4: the next step is. I don't know which bank account
- 17:28Speaker 4: I need to put it in, or how to capture it,
- 17:30Speaker 4: or this savings goal I have set I'm actually achieving.
- 17:33Speaker 4: So I think for me, it's about taking that next step.
- 17:35Speaker 4: But yes, it is internationally focused and you can use
- 17:38Speaker 4: whatever currency you want, So say you're in yen, you
- 17:41Speaker 4: can use yen. That is absolutely fine because the calculations
- 17:45Speaker 4: on the back end are identical regardless of if it
- 17:48Speaker 4: is pounds or if it is dollars. The only thing
- 17:50Speaker 4: you need to do is make sure that you're consistent
- 17:52Speaker 4: with the currency. So say you were earning money in
- 17:55Speaker 4: pounds and also in Australian dollars, you'd need to make
- 17:57Speaker 4: sure that you're using only one of those, because if
- 17:59Speaker 4: you put in one pound, it wouldn't convert it because
- 18:01Speaker 4: it's working on one currency at a time. Unfortunately, that
- 18:05Speaker 4: was where my skill betrayed me. You can use any
- 18:09Speaker 4: currency you want, so it is very internationally focused and
- 18:11Speaker 4: it's just a budgeting cashlow system. It doesn't matter what
- 18:14Speaker 4: country you're in. It's going to make sure that you
- 18:16Speaker 4: are on top of your finance. Is my friends, which
- 18:19Speaker 4: just to circle back to the you waiving a tiny
- 18:22Speaker 4: toothbrush at me, George like a one.
- 18:25Speaker 2: This is different.
- 18:27Speaker 5: Just on a more serious note though, Ladies Naomi who
- 18:30Speaker 5: asked that question, she mentioned that her mum had just
- 18:32Speaker 5: passed away, so just wanted to send a lot of
- 18:34Speaker 5: love on behalf of the team. And it sounds like
- 18:37Speaker 5: the course would be a really good thing if you
- 18:39Speaker 5: are stressed about your money at this difficult time.
- 18:41Speaker 4: It's also a good time to be really reflecting on
- 18:44Speaker 4: money stories and where those came from and making sure
- 18:46Speaker 4: that you're, you know, making the most of where you're at.
- 18:49Speaker 4: So I definitely recommend it, and Jess pretty sure you
- 18:52Speaker 4: had a little sneaky discount. If anyone is keen after that,
- 18:55Speaker 4: sales pitch to join the CLA.
- 18:58Speaker 6: We had a few people take us up on this
- 18:59Speaker 6: line time, so I'll pop it up once again. If
- 19:01Speaker 6: you want to get yourself the Budget and cash Flow Masterclass,
- 19:04Speaker 6: I'll put in a discount code. Use the code POD
- 19:06Speaker 6: fifty and you'll say fifty dollars off.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Do just make sure you turn that on when this
- 19:10Speaker 4: episode goes live, because be real awkward.
- 19:11Speaker 2: If feofore t in work, I will absolutely remember. I
- 19:14Speaker 2: thanks so much. Sure right.
- 19:16Speaker 4: Well, with that in mind, I think that's all we
