Latest / Blush / Get in Loser, We're Redoing Our Vision Boards
Transcript
- 0:00In honor of the Lunar New Year, I think the time has come for us
- 0:04to redo our vision boards. And if you didn't make a vision
- 0:07board, then it's time for us to make a vision board.
- 0:11But we're not going to do it. The cheesy, the annoying, the
- 0:14way that doesn't work. We're going to do it in a way
- 0:17that's actually going to be effective.
- 0:19OK, so step one for redoing our vision boards is we're going to
- 0:29pull out our New Year's resolutions.
- 0:34So pull out whatever your goals were.
- 0:36Now, I did mine a little bit different.
- 0:38So the way that I did mine, and I'm actually going to take out
- 0:40my phone because I have it all written down.
- 0:43So I'm going to go through this exercise kind of in real time.
- 0:49Let's see, where the fuck did I write this?
- 1:00OK, So what I did was I wrote like I did this whole journaling
- 1:10exercise. You know what?
- 1:11I'll actually read you all of it.
- 1:14It's based on Sif Hider's podcast, the Dream Bigger
- 1:22podcast. I think Sif Hyder is the founder
- 1:24of Array, which makes the best bloat capsule ever.
- 1:28And they actually came out with an anositol powder that I'm also
- 1:31obsessed with. Anyway, so she did this podcast
- 1:35episode that I listened to and I kind of like wrote down all of
- 1:39the questions in it. So this really is like almost
- 1:42verbatim what was in her podcast, but this is the actual
- 1:45New Year's Eve journaling exercise that I did.
- 1:49So question number one, list all of the things in your life that
- 1:53are currently bringing you joy. Get specific.
- 1:56It could be as simple as my evening walks or listening to
- 1:59your favorite band or whatever #2 if you could wave a magic
- 2:03wand and change anything in your life, what would it be?
- 2:07Get really specific and granular #3 from the list and #2 pick
- 2:12three that you want to change and list Y #4.
- 2:17It's December 31st, 2026 now you can pick whatever date you can
- 2:22pick like a day, a month from now, a year for whatever.
- 2:25Just pick a date. List all you have accomplished.
- 2:28Feel free to dream as big as you can.
- 2:30You don't need to be realistic #5 rank each area in your life
- 2:36from 1:00 to 10:00. List what went well and what has
- 2:41not gone well in each of these areas.
- 2:43So the areas are career, health, physical space, which is like
- 2:48your home, the city you live in, whatever romantic relationships,
- 2:53friendships, family, money, personal development, fun.
- 2:58And the last category is connection to self slash higher
- 3:02power. Question number six, pick three
- 3:06of those areas that you want to improve upon.
- 3:09Question #7 For each of these three areas, write out what your
- 3:13ideal slash dream scenario would be.
- 3:16Question #8 Condense that down to three big goals for 20261 for
- 3:21each of those areas. Question #9 Set goals for each
- 3:26quarter in 2026. And then for Q1 I wrote out
- 3:33monthly goals. So January, February, and March,
- 3:37I wrote out goals for each of those.
- 3:39And then I figured after Q1 I'll revisit and write out goal
- 3:44monthly goals for Q2 and so on. And then for January, I wrote
- 3:49out specific daily and weekly habits.
- 3:52I also wrote out a full day schedule with time stamps so
- 3:56that I actually schedule in my habits.
- 3:59And I figured at the end of January I would reevaluate and
- 4:03write out daily and weekly goals for February yadda yadda yadda.
- 4:08And then based on all that I made a vision board.
- 4:11Now let me backtrack a little bit because this is really
- 4:15important. So I didn't re evaluate at the
- 4:18end of January because I was just like busy.
- 4:20I think Sam was sick. So I figured I would just hold
- 4:23off to the Lunar New Year. So basically what I'm doing now
- 4:27is I'm looking at my overall, my 3 big goals that I wrote out for
- 4:3220/26, and I'm also looking at what I wrote down for January,
- 4:43which, oh, you know what? I do have it on my phone.
- 4:45OK, so the three main goals that I wrote for this year are a
- 4:55specific follower number, which is pretty ambitious.
- 5:00And I don't know that I'll necessarily hit it, but I
- 5:02figured like, I'd hit, I'd aim high #2 is just to like, really
- 5:10heal my relationship with food and body image.
- 5:14And #3 I just wrote Quiet Luxury.
- 5:17But by that, what I really mean is I really want to declutter.
- 5:23I really want to have like, a very organized, refined,
- 5:28beautiful home. Like I want to have more
- 5:30elevated pieces in my closet, but fewer things.
- 5:35And I've actually done quite a bit on moving towards the
- 5:40school. But let's look at my January
- 5:45breakdown. So I wrote out this like full
- 5:50daily schedule, right? And I also wrote out habits
- 5:53which I have not even looked at once.
- 5:56So the habits I wrote were act on inspiration within two hours,
- 6:00two more refine and define blah, blah, blah.
- 6:05OK, a few things I've actually, OK, I've actually hit some of
- 6:08these. And then I made a vision board
- 6:12also. So I made a little folder on my
- 6:15phone where I put my vision board.
- 6:19I put my habits in a very like aesthetically pleasing way and I
- 6:25put my like time block day schedule, which I've not abided
- 6:30by at all. I put those three in a folder
- 6:34and then I had it be so that my vision board is the background
- 6:39on my phone. And then I had like a photos
- 6:43widget on the top of my phone where I, I have that folder sync
- 6:47to it. So one of those three pops up.
- 6:50Now, I never looked at those habits as we just established
- 6:53because I've, I, I haven't done any of them, quite frankly.
- 6:57But basically Step 1 of this process is you want to look at
- 7:01your goals for the year or goals for the month.
- 7:05Or like for me, I'm going to look both at the goals for the
- 7:08year and also the habits that I said I would implement in
- 7:11January and be like, OK, like what have I made movement
- 7:16towards? Like what like January goals
- 7:18have I hit? What have I not hit?
- 7:21Like why if I haven't hit something, like why have I not
- 7:24hit it? Like if I haven't like made any
- 7:28progress towards the goals for the year, which I actually can
- 7:33say I've made a tremendous amount of progress towards all
- 7:39three of my goals. The latter 2 especially.
- 7:43But like a lot of my January habits, like one thing is like I
- 7:47wanted to do a 12 hour phone fast every single day.
- 7:52I don't, I mostly have not done that.
- 7:56I don't think I've done that once.
- 7:58And so then you want to reassess.
- 8:00This is actually a good example to you.
- 8:02So if there's something like a habit, a goal that like either
- 8:05you've made no progress towards or you just haven't hit at all,
- 8:08it's a really good time to take inventory and be like, OK, why?
- 8:12And part of this question is, is that goal actually aligned?
- 8:18Like, is that actually something you should strive for or not?
- 8:21And I'll give a really good example.
- 8:23So for years and years and years, like through my late
- 8:27teens and all of my 20s, every single year I'd set a New Year's
- 8:33resolution of running, of starting to run.
- 8:36And a few years I'd like, maybe would like go running once and
- 8:40then stop. And finally, I think when I
- 8:44turned 30, I was like, enough, like, clearly I'm just not doing
- 8:49this. Why is this a goal that I set
- 8:52every single year? And I never actually make any
- 8:55movement towards it? And I really sat and I unpacked
- 8:57it and I was like, OK, what I really want is like a runner's
- 9:00body, right? Like runners have, like, runners
- 9:02have the best fucking bodies. Like, they are so snatched and
- 9:07so athletic. And I also love the idea of
- 9:10having something where like if you're stressed or if you're in
- 9:14like, I love with the way runners talk about running and
- 9:17like their experience with running and how it clears their
- 9:20mind and stuff. And I also love the
- 9:22accessibility of running. Like I love that like you, all
- 9:25you need a sneaker is really like, you don't need any
- 9:28equipment. You can do it anywhere, anytime
- 9:30you're outside. Like you're seeing things like
- 9:32that's amazing, right? All of those things are so
- 9:35appealing. But when I turned 30, I was
- 9:37like, OK, I'm like getting older and like my knees are only
- 9:39getting weaker. Like I haven't started doing
- 9:41this yet. Like how realistic is it that
- 9:43I'm actually going to do this? And is there something else I
- 9:47can do to like meet like fitness and aesthetic goals, but also
- 9:51like have that like mental release thing, right?
- 9:55And I found that I could accomplish that through other
- 9:58ways versus the phone fast. Like why did I want to do the 12
- 10:02hour phone fast? Well, I talked about it in the
- 10:05first episode of this year. I talked about like that concept
- 10:09of space and creating more space in my life.
- 10:11And I think not being on my phone as much will allow me to
- 10:15have a lot more space to think about things, to have ideas come
- 10:19through. I think it would help with like
- 10:20anxiety reducing blue light. Another thing I've noticed is
- 10:25when I'm the more I'm on my phone, the slower I do
- 10:29everything right, especially if I'm on TikTok.
- 10:32Like sometimes I'm like, oh, let me just like scroll TikTok while
- 10:35I brush my teeth. Like it takes longer.
- 10:38Like everything I do just become slower.
- 10:40And if I'm trying to accomplish a lot, then like being on my
- 10:44phone all the time really is not conducive to getting that done.
- 10:48So even though I haven't actually started this 12 hour
- 10:51phone fast at all, like I haven't done it once this year,
- 10:53I don't think. I don't think that this is a
- 10:56goal that I should abandoned. I actually do think it's really
- 10:59aligned with the things I want to do chew more.
- 11:03It's kind of vague, but like, yeah, I probably should be
- 11:06chewing more. I just like honestly fucking
- 11:08like forgot. But then some of the things like
- 11:11when I look at like my daily schedule, it's like filming
- 11:15every time I prep dinner, filming every time I eat, like
- 11:18feel like all these things. It's like, I don't know that I
- 11:21need to be doing that. Like, that just seems like a
- 11:23good recipe for burnout. And I think that there are ways
- 11:27that I could be like really consistent with posting in order
- 11:30to accomplish a lot of my goals without having to film like
- 11:34every single time I make something or every single time I
- 11:38eat. Like this actually daily
- 11:42schedule I made for myself has like completely gone out the
- 11:45window. I have changed the time that I
- 11:48go to solid course that I could get more sleep.
- 11:50Best decision of my life. I am actually currently not
- 11:54doing morning pages anymore. So like that's out the window.
- 11:57I don't even take Sam outside to pee anymore.
- 12:00Like all these things have changed.
- 12:02These circumstances have changed.
- 12:03So a lot of these things don't quite align anymore.
- 12:06So again, you want to really go back and look at like what were
- 12:11your overall goals for the year? And if you never did overall
- 12:14goals for the year, I really do think that journaling exercise
- 12:18that I had is a really good way to figure out what your goals
- 12:22should be. And maybe they don't even have
- 12:24to be for the year. Maybe they could just be for the
- 12:26next month, because spoiler alert, I think we're going to
- 12:29revisit a lot of the stuff next month leading up for the spring
- 12:34equinox, which is also Persian New Year.
- 12:36So we're starting now with the Lunar New Year slash Chinese New
- 12:39Year, and then we're going to revisit this with Persian New
- 12:42Year. We're just going to do a little
- 12:43like United Nations of New Year's here, OK?
- 12:48And that brings us to the actual vision for it.
- 12:51So here's what I recommend doing.
- 12:55Go through your screenshots, go through social media, go through
- 13:01Pinterest, go through all these places and save things and
- 13:06Asterix, 'cause we're going to come back to the things that you
- 13:08save. And then I went to Canva and I
- 13:11made a 9 by 16 vision board that I then made my iPhone background
- 13:18so that I could look at it over and over and over again.
- 13:21So that every time I reach my phone, which as we've
- 13:23established is happening more often and then it should be, I'm
- 13:27reminded of my vision board. But I really think it's
- 13:30important to redo this exercise every month or so because like
- 13:34the first few times that you see it, it's going to be so
- 13:37exciting, but then it's going to lose its luster and you're not
- 13:40even going to really notice it anymore.
- 13:42So I think freshening it up constantly is actually really
- 13:46important so that your brain actually notices it and
- 13:48registers it. But now let's go to what kind of
- 13:51things should be on your vision board.
- 13:54So I think it's like a one thing that's really good to put on
- 14:00your vision board are things that have already happened that
- 14:04you want more of. So I screenshotted certain like
- 14:08DMS that I've gotten from people that are like, Oh my God, like
- 14:11this episode really changed my life.
- 14:13Or like, you know, this thing like this recipe of yours was so
- 14:17good or just like watching your stories makes me so happy.
- 14:20Stuff like that. Like that's exact, like all I
- 14:23really truly want is for people to feel seen.
- 14:27Like that really is the goal of the content that I put out.
- 14:31Even like the recipes, it's like I just like, I want you to feel
- 14:36like we're hanging out, you know, like I want you to feel
- 14:38like we're having fun. So like when I got DMS like
- 14:42that, it's like that's exactly what I want more of.
- 14:46Or the other day, I got an e-mail with the largest
- 14:53paycheck. I say paycheck.
- 14:55I mean, it's not a track. It's a direct deposit that I've
- 14:58gotten from the podcast so far. And that's still like way less
- 15:02than I wish it was. It's way less than Sam's medical
- 15:04pills, you know, but it's the biggest one I've gotten so far.
- 15:08So I screenshot it. That's why I'm probably going to
- 15:10add that to my vision board. I'm going to do the vision board
- 15:13tonight, by the way. Like as soon as I'm done here,
- 15:15I'm actually as soon as I'm done here, I'm going to edit this and
- 15:18upload it because I'm doing it like the night before.
- 15:21I actually love doing the blush dish episodes as close to air
- 15:25date as possible because I feel like we got to have like a real
- 15:28nice chat together, you know? Anyway, so like stuff that's
- 15:32already happened that you want more of like let's say if you're
- 15:36in school and you're aiming for like straight A's or something,
- 15:39maybe like you screenshot like a really good report card that you
- 15:42got or whatever it may be, right?
- 15:44Things that have happened that you want more of.
- 15:46And then I think that what's far more effective like usually we
- 15:52put these like things on our vision board that we want,
- 15:56right? Like it's like a house in Malibu
- 15:58or like, I don't know, like a BMW or whatever it may be or
- 16:02this like really hunky partner or something.
- 16:05I think that's well and good. And I think you can do a little
- 16:09bit of that for sure, like no problem at all.
- 16:12But what I think you should focus on far more is having
- 16:17pictures that represent the things that you need to do in
- 16:22order to get the things that you want.
- 16:25For example, if let's say you want a six pack, let's just say
- 16:31because this is like an easy example to use.
- 16:34Rather than putting a photo of someone with a six pack on your
- 16:39vision board. I think it would be far more
- 16:43useful to have photos of of like really like healthy foods and
- 16:49photos of exercise and things like that to remind you of the
- 16:54things that you need to be doing in order to get the thing.
- 16:57Because I think you could sit and look at a six pack all day
- 16:59long, but your brains going to be like, OK, like, yeah, like
- 17:04lots of the, yeah, give me the six pack.
- 17:06You know? Whereas if you look at photos of
- 17:09like doing the things that you need to do in order to get
- 17:13there, I think that's going to be far more useful.
- 17:16And I'm going to focus on that far more in redoing my vision
- 17:20more tonight. And another thing that I think
- 17:23is really, really useful is actually like using photos that
- 17:29like either are of you in certain scenarios or could be
- 17:34you. So for example, let's say like
- 17:38it's me, right? And I have dark hair and stuff,
- 17:41right? And let's say, let's say, let's
- 17:44go back to the six pack example. And I'm like, OK, so like I need
- 17:48to start exercising more, let's say.
- 17:50By the way, these are not goals of mine.
- 17:52I just, I just think it's a really easy example to use.
- 17:55So rather than having a photo of like a hot blonde at the gym,
- 18:01which like very clearly isn't me, I think it would be far more
- 18:05conducive to either have a photo of me at the gym or have a photo
- 18:11where like maybe there's no face and it looks like it could be
- 18:14me, like something that's believably me or even have AI
- 18:18render something that is me. So like you actually see
- 18:22yourself in it. I think that that could be a
- 18:26really useful touch on the vision board.
- 18:30Also, another thing that I did for my original vision board
- 18:33that I really recommend is I made a whole mood board for the
- 18:37year on Pinterest. Which by the way, I've been
- 18:40loving Pinterest. Like, I don't think people talk
- 18:42enough about how fucking good Pinterest is.
- 18:46Anyway, I made a whole mood board for the year and then I
- 18:50picked a few of my favorite photos and I downloaded them and
- 18:54I brought them into Canva for my vision board.
- 18:57Also, if you want my vision board template on on Canva, I'm
- 19:01happy to send it to you. I think that that's a really
- 19:05useful way to do it too, because like a lot of the things on
- 19:08Pinterest, like they're not really, it's hard to explain,
- 19:12but it's like like, for example, I like some of the things on my
- 19:16mood board are just like swatches of like shades of
- 19:19brown. Like that's not a particularly
- 19:21useful thing to put on my vision board, but I know why it's in my
- 19:26mood board. Like I know the like the vibe
- 19:29I'm trying to evoke. It's that very like quiet luxury
- 19:32chic thing that I was going for. Does that make sense?
- 19:37OK, I think that that's everything.
- 19:38Let me just like check my notes and make sure I'm not missing
- 19:41anything. I actually cannot wait to redo
- 19:45this. I'm literally about to go do it
- 19:47like right this second. Oh, that's so funny.
- 20:01Like my notes made no sense because it had some of the stuff
- 20:04from last month. So yeah, basically like what you
- 20:06really want to do is revisit your intentions, set monthly
- 20:10goals or set goals for like this next month 'cause we're going to
- 20:13kind of redo this exercise, but slightly different.
- 20:16I'm going to incorporate like, listen, Lunar New Year is not my
- 20:20holiday. Like, it's not like I can't like
- 20:21speak on it. And even if I did research, it's
- 20:24like kind of like like culturally insensitive for me as
- 20:28a non Asian person to be like, oh, let me make all this content
- 20:32on Lunar New Year versus Persian New Year.
- 20:35That is my wheelhouse. So we're going to pull in some
- 20:38like mysticism and rituals and stuff from Persian culture when
- 20:43we redo all this next month. So it is going to be a little
- 20:46bit different, but nevertheless, I think the aim for right now
- 20:50like yeah, you can set goals for the whole year, but really
- 20:53breakdown your goals into tangible things that you can
- 20:56accomplish. And like, for example, my chew
- 20:59more, that's not very tangible, you know, I need to come up with
- 21:05like a more tangible version of this because that's why it
- 21:09didn't get done. Like what is chew more?
- 21:11Like, I guess I could set a specific number, but also I'm
- 21:14not going to like sit around and count how many times I'm chewing
- 21:17all the time. Like that's not really a good
- 21:19use of my time and like a great way to for me to live my life,
- 21:22you know? But I'm going to really revisit
- 21:25these goals and come up with like more tangible ways, more
- 21:28concrete, specific things that I want to hit, like specific
- 21:35content goals. I loved like that idea of like
- 21:37act on inspiration within two hours.
- 21:40Obviously I completely forgot about it.
- 21:42But like, like, I love that idea.
- 21:46I don't know how realistic it is.
- 21:48For example, I had a recipe idea last night when I was in bed.
- 21:51I wasn't going to like whip out of bed and do it in the middle
- 21:53of the night. And also I had something else
- 21:55scheduled to film today. So like I, I have to play with
- 21:57all these things, you know what I mean?
- 21:59Nevertheless, I do think that this is a great time to revisit
- 22:03our goals and come up with some really concrete goals for the
- 22:06next month and then create aesthetically pleasing things
- 22:12that we can look at constantly and just constantly remind our
- 22:17brains of what we should be doing.
- 22:19Because last thing, regardless of what your views are on
- 22:24manifestation, I can tell you something right now, there is no
- 22:28amount of visualizing getting something that's going to make
- 22:32you get it. Like, I really genuinely believe
- 22:35that. I don't think that things just
- 22:37come to us. I think we have to take the
- 22:39right actions towards them. And so focusing on the actions
- 22:43that you need to take, focusing on the habits that you need to
- 22:46incorporate is where it's at. So use your vision board as a
- 22:50primer, as a reminder of the actions that you need to take to
- 22:55get there. OK, I think that's it.
- 22:59Also, if one of your goals is to like eat healthier or just like
- 23:03feel better in your body or whatever it may be, I highly
- 23:07recommend checking out Thursday's Blush Kitchen.
- 23:09It is this meal prep system that I came up with called the 654321
- 23:16meal prep system. I invented it.
- 23:18I think it's like the best way to meal prep.
- 23:21It lets you have healthy meals on the table in like 5 minutes,
- 23:2910 minutes Max Max Max Max. Like mostly like literally 5
- 23:34minutes. But unlike traditional meal
- 23:37prep, you actually get a variety of foods.
- 23:41It's like it is the best hack for eating healthy and like
- 23:46being really satisfied with your food that I could ever fucking
- 23:50come up with. I think you're really going to
- 23:52love it. Definitely go check it out.
- 23:53OK, Love you. We'll try next week.
