- 0:00SPEAKER_00: These are the points that you need to probe when you do your marketing.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: As electricians and business owners, we carry pain, some sort of pain.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: It might be something you want to achieve, something you want to get, something you want to do, some problem that you have that you need solving.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: You're not the only one carrying pain.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Your clients too carry pain.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to give you a few examples of how I've been targeted recently very well that my pain was targeted by actually ended up purchasing a product or using a service.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Two things.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: I seen an ad by a company called Base Camp, I believe they do masks.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: And I, for one, am guilty of jumping up into a roof or underneath the floor and not wearing a mask because I'm like, fuck that.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: I don't want to wear that big, sweaty, dirty thing with two big breathers on it, bumping off the roof, and it's just awkward, and it feels horrible on your face, feels horrible to breathe in, and I hate that.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: So I didn't think much about this, and then Basecamp targeted me correctly.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: It was obviously towards the trades.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: I've seen the ad and what triggered me to buy this, the actual angles of the camera, when the guy had a head torch on and he was in the roof with his basecamp mask, he flung a bit of insulation or pink bats as you call it.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: The dust that rose from just that one bit because the light was shining on it.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: It was just insane how many particles were just moved into the air.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: And that was the turning point when I looked at that and I goes, Fuck me, I need to start wearing a mask.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Look, this is small, it's compact, it's lightweight, it's cloth, it's got filters inside it.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Let's give it a crack.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: So I did.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: I went and I bought it, and I it was about$50 or$60 or something like that.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: And I love it.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: I love it now, and it's part of my PPE kit.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Every time I go under a house or in a roof, I'll have a head torch, I'll have my knee pads, and I'll have the mask, and that's part of my PPE.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: And that was a pain point that I had was like, I know I should be wearing a mask, but I don't, and it's really fucking bad because it's not today, it's not tomorrow.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: It's down the track where that will really hurt your lungs.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: And that was one of the pain points.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Their advertising hit me like a fucking ton of bricks when I seen the dust particles rise.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: I was like, I have breathed in, if that's even a word, a copious amount of dust in my time, and God only knows what's in that dust.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: And I deal with a lot of houses as well that have got trace of asbestos, so let's see what happens in 35 years.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: All jokes aside, wear PPE if you are going into roofs or underneath floors.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Point number two is my back.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: I have had back pain since my apprenticeship, since I was 17.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: I tried to pull an SWA cable out of the ground.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: My boss at the time telling me there was only a meter in there.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: SWA, for you people in Australia, a single-wired armor.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: It's not commonly used here, most electricians will know what it is, but it's just not commonly used here.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: It's basically like orange sark with a steel earth around it, and then insulated on top of that again.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: So it's a hefty cable.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: So I threw it over my shoulder and I pulled it as hard as I could at an angle, and I heard a few clicks and cracks, and my back has never been the same since.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: It's it's had spouts where it feels perfect, but a little twinge my back will go out of play.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: So not only that, the top of my shoulder recently has developed a tingle back in this vicinity.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: I don't know what it's for.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: I've had physio, I've had treatment, I've had needling and stuff.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: It soothed it but not got rid of it, and it's very annoying.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: So I was trawling again on Instagram, Facebook, and this advert popped up.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: And the advert basically was for this little orange thing.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: It was basically like a spine.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: So you lie down on it, and it's meant to target your pain, relieve it, and all that shit.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: So anyway, I looked at the ad and I shit you not where the guy was pointing on the guy's back where the pain was was exactly literally a pain point where my pain was.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: And I was like, that's a bit weird.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: I think I need to buy this product, and it was cheap, it was under$100.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: And I got it, use it maybe once or twice, it didn't do anything, and now it's thrown somewhere in my garage.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: The point of this is that was targeted to me so well, I bought the services, and that's what I'm saying is your clients have got pain points, and I think statistically, I'm trying to think of the background of where they came up with that marketing plan.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: And I thought deeply about this, and what I'm thinking is they probably have statistics and data on where the majority of pain happens in the back, so it's most likely going to be on the shoulders and points like that because of obviously moving, lifting, bending, it's pinching.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: So I was like, all right, statistically, I'm putting this out there, but I would I dare say the majority of people are right-handed.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: It's very weird if someone's left-handed.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: You'll dabble across the odd electrician who's left-handed because you notice they twist the cable the opposite way.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Very random and rare.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: I come across that, but you can always tell if the last electrician was a left-handed doing the cable.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: I was thinking they've probably checked statistics data that they're like the majority of people in the world with back pain are right-handed, and what happens is the counter levers over here and the tingles start to happen there.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: So, reported is the majority of pain happens in that exact spot.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Now, what they did is they most likely use that to leverage their marketing, and they were like, right, if we put this product out there, which it may or may not help people, if you use it repetitively and consistently, maybe it does work.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: But to me, I'm impatient, I'd rather pay a professional.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: I just was fucking hooked into the quick fix.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: And they probably looked at the stats and the analytics and stuff, and they were like, Alright, if we do an advert and we point exactly here, it will fool idiots like me, and you will go and you will buy their product.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: And I did, and it didn't really do much for me.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: So, this is what I'm speaking about is your clients have pain points.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: For example, it might be an outdoor area that doesn't have lights that they've been wanting to do for years.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: It might be a PowerPoint in the corner of a room that they wanted to put a lamp in, it might be their bathroom in the middle of winter is fucking freezing.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: These are the points that you need to probe when you do your marketing, you need to target the pain points of your clients for your electrical work.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: But just like me as well, the reason I make these videos is because I know you've got the pain of not knowing your clients' pain points.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: That's a bit of inception.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: That's why I do these videos.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: So at some stage, you'll check the links in the description below and possibly come work with me.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: I'm pretty selective though, and there's minimal spots left.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Anyways, I've gotta go to the post office.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: What the fuck?
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: You turn this thing off.
