- 0:03Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 0:07Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 0:11Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 0:15Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 0:19Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom the United States
- 0:23Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 0:28Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 0:31Speaker 1: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 0:35Speaker 1: are here illegally, your next you will be fined nearly
- 0:39Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned, and deported. You will
- 0:43Speaker 1: never return. But if you register using our CBP home
- 0:46Speaker 1: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump, America's laws,
- 0:55Speaker 1: border and families will.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Be protected, sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 1:00Speaker 3: And you should charge your batterymore.
- 1:01Speaker 4: Listen.
- 1:02Speaker 5: You know if I was to talk to somebody on
- 1:04Speaker 5: the phone and I could be staggering it right now
- 1:05Speaker 5: trying to figure out what my next move is they
- 1:07Speaker 5: could be like, yo, I just did this man, that
- 1:09Speaker 5: just motivated. It's just like you just plugged me up
- 1:10Speaker 5: to iPhone, like I'm charged again, Like I get charged
- 1:13Speaker 5: off of that. But some people with no drive, they
- 1:15Speaker 5: get dismotivated. They got they don't know how to understand that.
- 1:19Speaker 5: Like that's the part that you get happy of it
- 1:20Speaker 5: when you hear somebody doing good, so you could do better.
- 1:22Speaker 5: But until we understand that, we got to clap even
- 1:25Speaker 5: when we hear our names called, we ain't gonna understand
- 1:27Speaker 5: the missions.
- 1:28Speaker 6: All right, y'alls welcome back, e y l ya, Yes,
- 1:31Speaker 6: this is gonna be a good one. Man Derek Hayes,
- 1:34Speaker 6: we actually already did a episode with him and his
- 1:38Speaker 6: lovely wife Pinky for Assets over Our Bility's true, that
- 1:40Speaker 6: was a combo. So first we did Pinky bourself, then
- 1:43Speaker 6: we did the combo. Now you gotta do Dirk bo
- 1:45Speaker 6: that's a fact. Now it's a whole.
- 1:46Speaker 7: There's no pressure though. That was a classic. Oh definitely,
- 1:49Speaker 7: there's no pressure. Yes, you delivered the classic. There was
- 1:52Speaker 7: a there was a range of emotions on that episode.
- 1:54Speaker 7: I'm not saying that you have to shed it to
- 1:57Speaker 7: but that did happen.
- 2:01Speaker 6: So yeah, entrepreneur based in Atlanta from Philadelphia Big Dave's
- 2:07Speaker 6: Cheese Steaks. So eight locations currently seven open, three in
- 2:11Speaker 6: them and CDEs Benz Stadium just announced that they're going
- 2:14Speaker 6: to start franchising.
- 2:16Speaker 4: So that's crazy to scale.
- 2:18Speaker 6: Also, real estate investor and just all around throw person,
- 2:22Speaker 6: somebody that we've been able to connect with and build
- 2:24Speaker 6: a relationship with.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Just did invest fest for us. Thank you for that.
- 2:28Speaker 6: So yeah, it's a lot to talk about here. So
- 2:31Speaker 6: first and foremost, thank you for joining us. Appreciate it.
- 2:32Speaker 5: No, I appreciate y'all and appreciate you know y'all giving
- 2:36Speaker 5: all the wisdom and seeing y'all success, you know what
- 2:37Speaker 5: I'm saying over the years.
- 2:39Speaker 3: So I'm happy for both of y'all.
- 2:40Speaker 8: Real appreciate it.
- 2:41Speaker 4: All good bro.
- 2:42Speaker 6: So all right, let's get into this. Eight locations right,
- 2:47Speaker 6: seven in Atlanta, one in Charlotte. So I want to
- 2:52Speaker 6: talk about Like most people when they start to scale,
- 2:57Speaker 6: they look at like different cities. Right, you put a
- 3:00Speaker 6: lot of locations in a relatively small area in Atlanta.
- 3:05Speaker 6: What was the thought process behind? Like most people to
- 3:07Speaker 6: think that's like oversaturation, right, Like, what's the thought process
- 3:11Speaker 6: before expanding really just you know, drilling down on where
- 3:15Speaker 6: you were.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Well.
- 3:17Speaker 5: I think for the Big Days brand, what we was
- 3:20Speaker 5: trying to do is control the market.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Like you got all up north.
- 3:24Speaker 5: You know, you got Philly, New York, Jersey, Baltimore, they
- 3:28Speaker 5: already got you know, cheese steaks. They grew up off
- 3:30Speaker 5: of them, and it's been in the culture for a
- 3:32Speaker 5: long time. So I wanted to bring cheese steaks to
- 3:34Speaker 5: the South, you know, the Southeast, take over that whole situation.
- 3:37Speaker 5: And I just taking my time, and I've seen places
- 3:40Speaker 5: that it was needed. Like I wasn't even gonna pay
- 3:43Speaker 5: any more locations in Georgia than I put one in Lawrenceville,
- 3:45Speaker 5: and Lawrenceville might be my highest Drewson location. So it's
- 3:49Speaker 5: like every time I think about leaving Atlanta, it's still
- 3:51Speaker 5: spots that it still wants it. And right now I
- 3:54Speaker 5: feel good about leaving Atlanta because Charlotte, they showed out.
- 3:59Speaker 3: We brought the food truck there.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Man, it was like, honestly, it was about five hundred
- 4:03Speaker 5: people online and I was just like, you know, they
- 4:04Speaker 5: ready for a Big Days. I still control the market
- 4:07Speaker 5: because in the Southeast, wherever you put a restaurant that
- 4:09Speaker 5: you want to try to put like two or three
- 4:11Speaker 5: of them there so that you can control.
- 4:12Speaker 3: The ordering demand. Like right now, you know, if you're.
- 4:15Speaker 5: Going through Cisco or US Foods or Gordon, any of
- 4:18Speaker 5: those people that you're using, you want to be able
- 4:20Speaker 5: to order large quantities so that you can control the
- 4:23Speaker 5: ordering demand.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Talk about that. Can you break that down a little bit?
- 4:26Speaker 5: Yeah, So, like for example, if right now, if one
- 4:29Speaker 5: of my locations and I'm just start out there, one
- 4:30Speaker 5: of my locations did a couple thousand pounds a b
- 4:33Speaker 5: for week. If I can now control the market, will
- 4:36Speaker 5: ordering fifteen twenty thousand pounds? I now can get it
- 4:39Speaker 5: at a lower cost. That helps out my bottom lines.
- 4:42Speaker 5: So a lot of people don't know. They try to
- 4:43Speaker 5: you know, everything is top line heavy, everything is sell
- 4:46Speaker 5: self sell. But in the real world, when the investors
- 4:49Speaker 5: looking at you and how to scale, they looking at
- 4:50Speaker 5: your bottom line, they looking at your four wall contribution,
- 4:53Speaker 5: you're eble to all those things make sense. So I
- 4:56Speaker 5: knew nothing about a lot of these things till over
- 4:58Speaker 5: the years. You know, when I run in to investors
- 5:00Speaker 5: or different rooms, or you know, just talking to individuals
- 5:04Speaker 5: that's at a place where I'm trying to get to.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Those are the things that were you know, that really
- 5:08Speaker 5: mattered and resonated to me. So right now we're controlling
- 5:11Speaker 5: the market, We're trying to go to places that people
- 5:14Speaker 5: really don't you know, they ain't paying attention to. But
- 5:17Speaker 5: you know, it got a little bit of hope there
- 5:18Speaker 5: because we know we come there, we're giving people jobs,
- 5:20Speaker 5: we bringing up the community and Big Davis, you know
- 5:23Speaker 5: it's a food element, but we're more of community driven
- 5:26Speaker 5: and we're more bringing people up.
- 5:28Speaker 7: So when you're talking about scaling, we're going from the
- 5:31Speaker 7: gas station to eight locations. We talked about p and LS,
- 5:35Speaker 7: talked about Eve. At what point did you start focusing
- 5:39Speaker 7: in on.
- 5:39Speaker 5: That when I started, When I to be honest, when
- 5:42Speaker 5: I started going out to get investment, I already knew
- 5:45Speaker 5: I had the top line sales.
- 5:47Speaker 3: I was always blessed with having customers.
- 5:51Speaker 5: After Eve, you know, she came out in twenty fifteen,
- 5:54Speaker 5: I really ain't had a problem ever getting the customer
- 5:56Speaker 5: because I already knew I had something good.
- 5:58Speaker 3: I just had to wait for the world to see it.
- 6:00Speaker 3: And when the world's seen it, they supported it.
- 6:02Speaker 5: And when somebody supports something you could have so much
- 6:04Speaker 5: of it, you know, and then you still might not
- 6:06Speaker 5: get a profit out of it because you don't know
- 6:08Speaker 5: what you're doing. So for me, I just had to
- 6:10Speaker 5: go get people that were smarter than me, that been
- 6:12Speaker 5: in that field that could help me, you know, get
- 6:13Speaker 5: to where I'm trying to go. So two, I would
- 6:17Speaker 5: say twenty twenty twenty twenty one, I started focusing more
- 6:20Speaker 5: on team strategy up top corporate level, like what can
- 6:23Speaker 5: help me get to the next level that I don't know?
- 6:25Speaker 5: I already know. I'm a mass marketer. People love me,
- 6:28Speaker 5: they love my energy. There's nothing fake about me. I
- 6:31Speaker 5: give my alle to the people every single day. But
- 6:34Speaker 5: nothing don't matter if you can't scale the business. And
- 6:37Speaker 5: I didn't build no mom and pop. I built this
- 6:39Speaker 5: for my dad to be all over the country, and
- 6:40Speaker 5: that's what I'm gonna do.
- 6:41Speaker 6: So you said you raised capital, right, Yeah, welcome through
- 6:46Speaker 6: that process, Like, well, when did you decide to raise
- 6:49Speaker 6: capital and what was the process of actually raising them?
- 6:53Speaker 5: I just started to raise capital on like twenty twenty
- 6:55Speaker 5: twenty twenty one, and the process is really you can
- 7:00Speaker 5: getting all your books together, you got your deck, you know,
- 7:03Speaker 5: you got your plan on what your future look like,
- 7:06Speaker 5: how many locations you're trying to open with this money
- 7:08Speaker 5: that you're trying to raise. All those things matter, but
- 7:11Speaker 5: you can have something special when then somebody could say,
- 7:14Speaker 5: you know what, you got something special, but you got
- 7:16Speaker 5: to change some things around in your corporate You got
- 7:18Speaker 5: to do certain things. And for me, those were some
- 7:21Speaker 5: of the things that I had to face because I
- 7:23Speaker 5: got this hot business.
- 7:24Speaker 3: I got everybody.
- 7:24Speaker 5: I can't even walk the streets without people coming up
- 7:26Speaker 5: to me, you know, take a picture, or they tell me,
- 7:29Speaker 5: you know, I'm changing their lives, or some guys telling
- 7:31Speaker 5: me I help them get out the streets. So when
- 7:33Speaker 5: somebody telling you right now you need to change something,
- 7:36Speaker 5: You're like, bro, I'm on fire right now. But you
- 7:38Speaker 5: got to really tuck your ego in and say listen,
- 7:41Speaker 5: I got to get myself together for people to take
- 7:42Speaker 5: me serious. So I've been getting my stuff together for
- 7:45Speaker 5: a couple of years. I sat down and really just
- 7:46Speaker 5: focus on, you know, what's the best for me and
- 7:49Speaker 5: a brand, and That's what I've been doing.
- 7:50Speaker 3: And this year coming is going to be my.
- 7:52Speaker 5: Biggest year of my career because this is my season,
- 7:55Speaker 5: this is my time and it's now.
- 7:57Speaker 7: So when you're coming up to plan to investment, you
- 8:01Speaker 7: haven't mind a certain number of restaurants you want to
- 8:03Speaker 7: get to at a certain cost that's associated with you.
- 8:07Speaker 7: How did you equate to Is it strictly on sales
- 8:09Speaker 7: or was it the bottom line this is going to
- 8:11Speaker 7: cost to be here? On how you tested the markets.
- 8:13Speaker 5: That you well, right after the pandemic, you know, we
- 8:16Speaker 5: went through a crazy inflation.
- 8:18Speaker 3: You know we cost. I used to be able to
- 8:20Speaker 3: build a big days for.
- 8:22Speaker 5: A half a million dollars. Now you know it's north
- 8:25Speaker 5: for seven hundred. So like you know, things changed with
- 8:28Speaker 5: the market. So what we do now is we try
- 8:32Speaker 5: to buy and balk. Like right now, by I know
- 8:34Speaker 5: I'm about to open up five locations, I'm now searching
- 8:37Speaker 5: for five hoods. I'm looking for the Fyers, I'm looking
- 8:39Speaker 5: for all the grills all at the same time, so
- 8:41Speaker 5: I can control the price better. Because listen, all this
- 8:44Speaker 5: goes into your eble as a loss. When you're building
- 8:48Speaker 5: these locations, you could be making a bunch of money
- 8:50Speaker 5: all year long.
- 8:51Speaker 3: But if you're.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Building restaurants all year long, you're taking losses all year long.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Because that's what's on your taxes.
- 8:57Speaker 5: So you got to know what's good for you and
- 8:59Speaker 5: your brand when you want to raise money and how
- 9:01Speaker 5: you want to do it. So for me, I was
- 9:03Speaker 5: in a like a kind of like a quick saying
- 9:05Speaker 5: situation because I got something hot and now I got
- 9:08Speaker 5: my landmark location doing really really well, and people knowing
- 9:12Speaker 5: about everything I'm going now they saying when.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Is the next location opening?
- 9:15Speaker 5: You know, when you're doing good, just like with you guys,
- 9:17Speaker 5: like they want to know what's the next thing y'all
- 9:18Speaker 5: got coming. It's never enough even with yourself. You know,
- 9:22Speaker 5: some days you can wake up in the morning and
- 9:23Speaker 5: be like, you know, I'm doing good, but I could
- 9:25Speaker 5: do better. And that's just the momentum I always had,
- 9:27Speaker 5: and that's how I carry with the brand. And I
- 9:29Speaker 5: think that's the reason why I never gave up the
- 9:32Speaker 5: number one thing for me in business. I'm always willing
- 9:36Speaker 5: to learn, I'm always willing to listen. But I know
- 9:39Speaker 5: that I'm meant to be here, and I know that
- 9:41Speaker 5: any room I step in, I belong there. And that's
- 9:44Speaker 5: the thing that people got to understand, Like you can't
- 9:46Speaker 5: go in on room begging, you can't go on room
- 9:48Speaker 5: asking you got to come in the room knowing you
- 9:50Speaker 5: belong there.
- 9:51Speaker 6: So talk about your Mercedes ben stadium. Yeah, how did
- 9:55Speaker 6: that happen? You know, it's so crazy that happened. That
- 9:59Speaker 6: happened by a mistake.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Honestly. We got asked to do training camp and we
- 10:03Speaker 3: was doing real well.
- 10:04Speaker 4: In trading camp.
- 10:05Speaker 5: Yeah, just a player training camp. We bring a food
- 10:08Speaker 5: truck there and it did really well. The lines was long,
- 10:12Speaker 5: and you know, the opportunity came to say, you know
- 10:14Speaker 5: what about you guys, you know coming in the stadium.
- 10:17Speaker 5: And before we came in the stadium, I got a
- 10:19Speaker 5: chance to talk to some high ups and I really
- 10:21Speaker 5: just told them what I wanted.
- 10:23Speaker 3: I told them we would change the culture in the stadium.
- 10:25Speaker 5: I told them that we will be one of the
- 10:27Speaker 5: highest grossing restaurants in the stadium. Everything I told them
- 10:30Speaker 5: we backed up so far. So I feel good about that.
- 10:32Speaker 5: But I just wanted to come in there for the
- 10:35Speaker 5: opportunity to say that I know that sixty five seventy
- 10:38Speaker 5: thousand people coming these games on Sundays soccer games, you
- 10:42Speaker 5: know that might not be my demographics. And I had
- 10:44Speaker 5: the opportunity now to show the world what I have,
- 10:47Speaker 5: and I thought that was special by being in the stadium.
- 10:49Speaker 4: So how does that work?
- 10:51Speaker 6: How does that work though, because so a regular restaurant
- 10:54Speaker 6: you open seven days a week, this week whatever, right,
- 10:57Speaker 6: a stadium might only be open one day a week
- 11:00Speaker 6: or two days a week, depended on for a couple
- 11:03Speaker 6: of hours. But it's sixty thousand people that's coming in.
- 11:06Speaker 6: So as a business owner, how's running that business different
- 11:12Speaker 6: than running a regular restaurant.
- 11:16Speaker 5: It's actually a lot different because you got all these
- 11:19Speaker 5: people that got got to get served that halftime, so
- 11:22Speaker 5: you got a little window. So it actually helped my
- 11:25Speaker 5: operations to be honest, because when somebody ordered the food,
- 11:29Speaker 5: they go pay for it. You passing them to food
- 11:31Speaker 5: like here you go, here you go, you know, they
- 11:33Speaker 5: taking the order. And then my breaking water locations. That
- 11:35Speaker 5: helped out my operations because I remember times when people
- 11:38Speaker 5: will raad hours for the food. You know, we get
- 11:40Speaker 5: a line of two three hundred people. People be waiting
- 11:42Speaker 5: three four hours to get an order. But that's not
- 11:44Speaker 5: no more because now my operations got tighter just from
- 11:47Speaker 5: being in the stadium and hiring the right operators I
- 11:50Speaker 5: needed to get me better. But right now in the stadium.
- 11:52Speaker 5: When you order the food, you get it on the
- 11:54Speaker 5: go like they don't.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Have to wait. It's already prepared.
- 11:57Speaker 5: And I think that's what helped us out make us
- 11:59Speaker 5: so special when stay because a lot of places still
- 12:01Speaker 5: are cooking the food.
- 12:02Speaker 3: You gotta wait for it, and we want to we
- 12:05Speaker 3: want to be special with that.
- 12:06Speaker 7: So how does this work from a standpoint that you're
- 12:08Speaker 7: in the stadium. You get to lease your space because
- 12:11Speaker 7: you went from the lines being so long and having
- 12:14Speaker 7: won that they have to give you two and then
- 12:16Speaker 7: they have to give you a third location. So do
- 12:18Speaker 7: you have to lease the spaces and then there's a
- 12:21Speaker 7: portion of the sales that goes back to the stae
- 12:22Speaker 7: houses work.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Yeah, they get a portion of the seals.
- 12:25Speaker 5: But I got a good deal. I got a great deal.
- 12:29Speaker 5: I can tell they wanted us there. But like I said,
- 12:32Speaker 5: in life, if you don't ask for what you want,
- 12:34Speaker 5: you'll never get it. I came in there stirring about
- 12:36Speaker 5: what I wanted and we backed it up. But it
- 12:40Speaker 5: feels good right now that I can say that we
- 12:43Speaker 5: have carts like literally y'all know the carts, like just like.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Out there in New York on the corners.
- 12:47Speaker 5: We got carts and it's people with four fledged restaurants
- 12:50Speaker 5: in there and were the king, you know, And that's
- 12:54Speaker 5: how I feel like we're going to do anywhere we go.
- 12:56Speaker 5: And it's just me being humble. But I know what
- 12:58Speaker 5: this brand represents. I know with the world been waiting for,
- 13:01Speaker 5: and I know we got something that's real, authentic that's
- 13:03Speaker 5: never been out to try. State people tried to do
- 13:06Speaker 5: what I've done and haven't been successful doing it because
- 13:09Speaker 5: either they gave up because it got too hard, or
- 13:12Speaker 5: they couldn't find out how to get the product so far,
- 13:15Speaker 5: you know, from up north. But I figured out all
- 13:17Speaker 5: these things. It might have took me eight and a
- 13:19Speaker 5: half almost nine years, but it took KFC was like
- 13:22Speaker 5: what he was sixty five when he came out with
- 13:24Speaker 5: his business. So a lot of these people, you know,
- 13:26Speaker 5: they took their time to make something special. Everybody thinks
- 13:29Speaker 5: something supposed to happen overnight. I'm pretty sure y'all was
- 13:32Speaker 5: doing this podcast and stuff early before people even knew
- 13:34Speaker 5: y'all existed, But they only going to see what y'all
- 13:36Speaker 5: do right now. And I feel like that's what a
- 13:39Speaker 5: lot a lot of my story I took people with me,
- 13:41Speaker 5: like I let them see the gas station location.
- 13:44Speaker 3: I let them see me coming in there seven days
- 13:46Speaker 3: a week grinding.
- 13:47Speaker 5: Not a lot of employees, A lot of them see
- 13:49Speaker 5: the imperfections, and now they see perfection.
- 13:51Speaker 3: They see they can see where you grew from.
- 13:53Speaker 7: Is it only exclusive to the Falcons games and the
- 13:57Speaker 7: soccer team games or do you have access to when
- 14:00Speaker 7: concerts and tours come to.
- 14:02Speaker 5: No, everybody. When the door is open, we open, gotcha. Yeah,
- 14:05Speaker 5: that's type deal we got.
- 14:06Speaker 3: We open.
- 14:07Speaker 6: So like the employees are like, how's that work for
- 14:11Speaker 6: employees though? Because they might be off four days and
- 14:14Speaker 6: have to work three days in a row.
- 14:15Speaker 5: Now, so my employees, they still they work in my
- 14:18Speaker 5: food truck.
- 14:19Speaker 3: They do catering.
- 14:20Speaker 5: So I got a whole catering department, right, So the
- 14:23Speaker 5: catering department, some of them will go to the games
- 14:26Speaker 5: on the days that the stadium's open, or they'll be
- 14:28Speaker 5: on the food truck and where some people will be
- 14:30Speaker 5: doing personal orders.
- 14:31Speaker 4: That get you have different shifts. Yeah, no, you know
- 14:34Speaker 4: the schedule and then you just schedule it out.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Yeah. So like right now, just give example, I got
- 14:38Speaker 5: probably one hundred and thirty one hundred and forty employees,
- 14:41Speaker 5: and some of the employees are not staging to one location.
- 14:48Speaker 5: Some of them, you know, we rotate and then some
- 14:50Speaker 5: of them, you know, they just like field managers where
- 14:52Speaker 5: they drive around and make sure that the quality of
- 14:54Speaker 5: the food is good, make sure the customer service. Like
- 14:57Speaker 5: I got secret shoppers that popping on the location. So
- 15:00Speaker 5: I try to keep everything tight because I know that
- 15:02Speaker 5: we're about to scale really really fast, and I want
- 15:05Speaker 5: to make sure that everything is right.
- 15:07Speaker 7: I've been around you enough now to know that you're
- 15:10Speaker 7: always sticking forward. Oh yeah, and so you got me
- 15:13Speaker 7: Sades Benz. They have eight to nine home games a year.
- 15:18Speaker 8: Yeah, right next door you've got State FUM.
- 15:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:21Speaker 7: And so is that something indivisual because you could have
- 15:24Speaker 7: eight home games or you could have forty one home
- 15:26Speaker 7: games when you're playing them.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Honestly, that's in the works. I've been around you looking
- 15:33Speaker 3: up now.
- 15:34Speaker 5: It's in the works. But we're just trying to take
- 15:37Speaker 5: the opportunities that come to us. We ain't saying no,
- 15:40Speaker 5: and we ain't saying yes to everything. We're saying what
- 15:42Speaker 5: makes sense, and that makes sense. So when that come around,
- 15:45Speaker 5: y'all be there. But I just want to be, like,
- 15:47Speaker 5: I want to be the good representation of Atlanta. But
- 15:50Speaker 5: not only that. It's not I'm gonna say this humbly,
- 15:55Speaker 5: it's not entrepreneurs right now. To have my background to
- 15:58Speaker 5: where I'm at right now in life, and we got
- 16:00Speaker 5: to celebrate that. Like I feel like, you know, I
- 16:02Speaker 5: got to keep going and keep going harder so people
- 16:05Speaker 5: can understand that if you ain't go to college and
- 16:07Speaker 5: all you got is a high school diploma, you don't
- 16:09Speaker 5: got that your background ain't that neat.
- 16:11Speaker 3: You've been in trouble.
- 16:13Speaker 5: You know, you might not look like the rest, You
- 16:14Speaker 5: got tattoos all over your body, you.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Might look like a rapper the most.
- 16:18Speaker 5: But I'm an entrepreneur and I'm a serial entrepreneur, and
- 16:20Speaker 5: I'm a big dog and I get respected on the
- 16:22Speaker 5: highest levels because all the hard work I put out.
- 16:24Speaker 5: But I want the world to see that. I want
- 16:26Speaker 5: kids to understand that they ain't never stuck. There's always
- 16:29Speaker 5: a way out as long as you keep your ten
- 16:30Speaker 5: toes down to the ground, keep your legs moving, your
- 16:33Speaker 5: mind thinking you always got away.
- 16:35Speaker 4: So you say you have secret shop, but talk about that.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Yeah, So like I might, you might be a secret shopper.
- 16:41Speaker 3: You might call me one day and say, yo, damn,
- 16:43Speaker 3: come to get some food, or you know what I'm saying.
- 16:45Speaker 5: I might be like, all, yo, give me a honest feedback,
- 16:48Speaker 5: you know, Like I try to not use, you know,
- 16:50Speaker 5: famous people. I try to use people that they want
- 16:51Speaker 5: to know who coming in because they gonna kick the best,
- 16:53Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying. But I try to make
- 16:54Speaker 5: sure that whoever's walking in that door, you know, they
- 16:57Speaker 5: never know who that person is, and I can get
- 16:59Speaker 5: honest feedback. And when I like, I might get a
- 17:02Speaker 5: DM from a customer might you know, might be one
- 17:04Speaker 5: of my day ones and they might say, you know
- 17:07Speaker 5: this experience I came this time. You know, I felt
- 17:09Speaker 5: like this or it could have been better. But I
- 17:12Speaker 5: like that because it helps me work on the brand.
- 17:14Speaker 5: Like nothing is perfect. So if somebody sit there and
- 17:16Speaker 5: tell you all day like, yeah, they ain't got no
- 17:18Speaker 5: problems or anything, it's peaches and cream. They frowing Because
- 17:22Speaker 5: every business guy downfalls and every in true life, you're
- 17:25Speaker 5: gonna have obstacles that you gotta climb through every single day.
- 17:28Speaker 7: Yeah, you got visitors that are coming into town. I
- 17:30Speaker 7: mean just for these these sports games, the opposing team
- 17:33Speaker 7: has a fan base too, so are people from out
- 17:36Speaker 7: of town recognizing their brand and inquiring about having it
- 17:41Speaker 7: in their hometown. I can imagine Philly's now looking at
- 17:44Speaker 7: it when they come to Atlanta and saying, wait, this
- 17:46Speaker 7: guy's from here.
- 17:47Speaker 8: He's an entrepreneur from here. Why don't we have this?
- 17:49Speaker 5: And are Philly killing me right now? They're like, bro,
- 17:54Speaker 5: what's going on? Like I ain't got one home yet? No,
- 17:56Speaker 5: But that's a good question. But to be honest, the
- 18:00Speaker 5: reason why I was supposed to franchise a few years back,
- 18:03Speaker 5: but I held it because my gut wasn't there. I
- 18:06Speaker 5: tell people all the time, I choose my gut over
- 18:09Speaker 5: my heart and over my mind because my gut ain't
- 18:11Speaker 5: gonna lie to me. So I waited till it's my time.
- 18:14Speaker 5: Now when I'm seeing all these these people acquiring you know,
- 18:18Speaker 5: whether it's Instagram or filling out applications about franchises, of course,
- 18:22Speaker 5: every day is in my mind like I could have this,
- 18:24Speaker 5: meaning ocation, I could be doing this. But you also
- 18:26Speaker 5: can grow too fast and destroy everything you worked on too,
- 18:29Speaker 5: and I'm not trying to do that. Like, if y'all notice,
- 18:31Speaker 5: I'll never put out my vuation and my viuation is crazy.
- 18:35Speaker 5: But I don't want the world to look at that
- 18:36Speaker 5: right now. I want you to see what I'm doing.
- 18:38Speaker 5: I can, you know, change a whole lot of minds
- 18:41Speaker 5: by you know, let my pr putting out my viuation
- 18:44Speaker 5: and get a whole bunch of more opportunities that way.
- 18:46Speaker 5: But it ain't the way I'm doing it. They gonna
- 18:48Speaker 5: see me do it in a way where it took
- 18:50Speaker 5: me a little time to do it. But I'm gonna
- 18:51Speaker 5: do it the right way, and I'm gonna climb through
- 18:52Speaker 5: all the obstacles that I need to climb through so
- 18:54Speaker 5: I could be here in the loan run.
- 18:55Speaker 3: I ain't looking at no fronting.
- 18:57Speaker 5: I just said this in another podcast, like when it
- 18:59Speaker 5: comes to deals, a lot of deals, I don't chase
- 19:01Speaker 5: the front end money.
- 19:02Speaker 3: I want to back end.
- 19:03Speaker 5: I don't want to be the guy that say I
- 19:05Speaker 5: built a billion dollar company and where's my money at?
- 19:07Speaker 3: And then you signed to that front end money. That's
- 19:10Speaker 3: your money.
- 19:10Speaker 5: And for me, I'm chasing ownership and I'm chasing the
- 19:13Speaker 5: back end because the front end don't last.
- 19:15Speaker 6: So all right, talk about the franchise situation. Can you
- 19:21Speaker 6: walk us through that. How when did you decide that
- 19:23Speaker 6: you wanted the franchise and what was the steps to
- 19:26Speaker 6: actually get that up and running.
- 19:28Speaker 5: The steps took me, honestly about a year and a
- 19:31Speaker 5: half getting the FDD together. That's the Franchise Disclosure Document
- 19:37Speaker 5: for those who don't know, it's like the flet Yeah,
- 19:40Speaker 5: that's the that's the whole brains of what you signing
- 19:43Speaker 5: up to. And the most important thing that I've learned
- 19:47Speaker 5: and the FDD, one of the most important things was
- 19:50Speaker 5: the Item nineteen and that's your financials. That's everything that
- 19:55Speaker 5: you got going on. That's what people are going to
- 19:57Speaker 5: look at when they want to buy into a franchise.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Excuse me.
- 20:01Speaker 5: And I feel real strong about that, you know, because
- 20:05Speaker 5: I took the time and with my team and we
- 20:07Speaker 5: worked out all of the stuff that we need to
- 20:09Speaker 5: get out the kinks to make sure that our bottom
- 20:11Speaker 5: lines is good, our top lines is good. Just like
- 20:14Speaker 5: you know, I just broke the news on CNBC and
- 20:17Speaker 5: I put out my downtown NET locations.
- 20:19Speaker 3: That was NET.
- 20:20Speaker 5: You know, that wasn't gross ups, that was just Net. Yeah,
- 20:25Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying That two point three Yeah,
- 20:27Speaker 5: that one of them so you know, that was just
- 20:30Speaker 5: my liw flex like stop playing with me. But nah,
- 20:32Speaker 5: but like this is the thing though, I wanted people
- 20:35Speaker 5: to understand, like they seen me grinding, but now they.
- 20:39Speaker 3: See me showing.
- 20:39Speaker 5: It's a difference if you out here chasing every day
- 20:42Speaker 5: and nobody see you actually elevating and chase. Like every
- 20:45Speaker 5: time I look at y'all, look at somebody and I
- 20:47Speaker 5: category we got.
- 20:48Speaker 3: We got like this class going on. How I look
- 20:50Speaker 3: at it right? And how I look at this class?
- 20:52Speaker 5: Like when I see you know, Troy and Rischade, or
- 20:55Speaker 5: I see Pinky, or I see Milano, or I see
- 20:57Speaker 5: anybody else that's doing what we're doing, it's somebody else
- 21:00Speaker 5: talking about another level they get into, you know, And
- 21:02Speaker 5: that's what that's what turns me on from it. I
- 21:04Speaker 5: don't care about the money aspect. We all can make money,
- 21:08Speaker 5: but how can you get the opportunity to change lives?
- 21:10Speaker 5: How many people you're pitting on through those opportunities? And
- 21:13Speaker 5: that's what I care about.
- 21:14Speaker 4: So is it open for front like people can Oh yeah, I.
- 21:23Speaker 7: Talk about this man. So if somebody wants to what's
- 21:26Speaker 7: the process do we? I mean, number one, we have
- 21:28Speaker 7: to have the capital we got to go.
- 21:30Speaker 5: Yeah, so you got the financials and then once you
- 21:32Speaker 5: got the financials, uh, you fill out the paperwreak.
- 21:35Speaker 3: It goes over to my broker.
- 21:37Speaker 5: My broker UH sets up a day where you come down,
- 21:41Speaker 5: you see the facilities, and then I get the last call.
- 21:44Speaker 5: You know, I get to sit down with you, and
- 21:46Speaker 5: I feel the energy. I told Pinky, this is going
- 21:48Speaker 5: to be a fun ride, because you know it ain't
- 21:51Speaker 5: just like you know, I'm married, so I believe in
- 21:54Speaker 5: the decision she make. Also, so when we sit down
- 21:57Speaker 5: and we have dinner with these people and and I
- 21:59Speaker 5: and I fill them out and she fill them out,
- 22:01Speaker 5: I feel like that's a blessing for me because I
- 22:04Speaker 5: ain't just making a decision by myself. I got somebody
- 22:07Speaker 5: else beside me that you know, they can give me
- 22:09Speaker 5: good insight on it. But more to the story is
- 22:12Speaker 5: once they pass all the procedures they need to pass,
- 22:15Speaker 5: I get to sit with them and see if I
- 22:17Speaker 5: want to move forward.
- 22:19Speaker 7: So I mean, that's a good point you got. Obviously
- 22:22Speaker 7: you're married. Congratulations on that. We've seen her brand grow
- 22:27Speaker 7: and move to locations. Do you use that as a
- 22:30Speaker 7: metric to see if the location is suitable for your
- 22:33Speaker 7: brand as well. So when you move to Charlotte there
- 22:36Speaker 7: might be a veganness. Yeah, that tells me that there's
- 22:39Speaker 7: a community here that that needs.
- 22:41Speaker 5: That's what we do, though, honestly, we use each other
- 22:44Speaker 5: like guinea pigs. We do, like right now, franchising who
- 22:48Speaker 5: knows she might be franchising who knows it don't. I mean,
- 22:50Speaker 5: but sometimes we might take the jump first and then
- 22:53Speaker 5: we fill it out. Like she went out of state
- 22:55Speaker 5: before I want out of state, so I already knew
- 22:57Speaker 5: the things that I got to work on out of
- 22:59Speaker 5: state before I go out watching it happen. Yeah, because
- 23:01Speaker 5: I watch it happen. But again, you know, even though
- 23:04Speaker 5: like if it's a study vegan or it's a big daves,
- 23:07Speaker 5: don't matter who open them, we in the situation together.
- 23:10Speaker 5: So it's like when we climbing through these openings, it's
- 23:12Speaker 5: just like you know, as if I'm opening another location,
- 23:15Speaker 5: or it's things that I got to kink out, and
- 23:16Speaker 5: I say, oh, you know what, I got to do
- 23:18Speaker 5: that differently because in my brand that's not gonna work
- 23:21Speaker 5: because it's two different brands. But the good thing that
- 23:24Speaker 5: we able to piggyback off each other with is that
- 23:26Speaker 5: we got the traffic. We can look at the numbers
- 23:28Speaker 5: and we can we can, you know, look at each
- 23:31Speaker 5: other selves and say, okay, you down or you up,
- 23:34Speaker 5: and we both and we both are down. We know
- 23:36Speaker 5: it's the market, and we both up. It's never you up,
- 23:39Speaker 5: you down like And that's the good thing with us
- 23:41Speaker 5: is that the demographics that we have, we have strong customers. Like,
- 23:45Speaker 5: you know, the market right there now is terrible in
- 23:48Speaker 5: the restaurants. It's not the restaurants all the way around.
- 23:51Speaker 5: And I'm doing I'm doing better than a lot of
- 23:54Speaker 5: the market, if not ninety percent of it.
- 23:56Speaker 8: What allows you to do better? Is it how you're pricing?
- 24:00Speaker 8: Is it? You know, how you're looking at the bottom line?
- 24:03Speaker 7: Like, what allows you to say I had not the competitors,
- 24:07Speaker 7: but the industry.
- 24:08Speaker 5: To be honest, I think right now it got to
- 24:11Speaker 5: have some attachment to it got to be tangible. So again,
- 24:15Speaker 5: my story, I feel like, you know a lot of
- 24:16Speaker 5: people been paying attentions to so long.
- 24:18Speaker 3: But the one thing I think that really helps me out.
- 24:21Speaker 5: A lot is that when economy crashed, when when the
- 24:24Speaker 5: COVID hit everybody, they try to figure out what they
- 24:28Speaker 5: was going to do. Some of them ran off on
- 24:29Speaker 5: the employees. Some businesses closed.
- 24:32Speaker 3: I stood up.
- 24:33Speaker 5: It's just like if somebody telling you something and you like,
- 24:36Speaker 5: I'm gonna be there, I'm gonna do what I need
- 24:38Speaker 5: to do, and then.
- 24:38Speaker 3: It happened, you don't be there.
- 24:39Speaker 4: I was there.
- 24:40Speaker 3: I was feeding customers.
- 24:42Speaker 5: I fed over a thousand customers that week of the pandemic,
- 24:45Speaker 5: fed up with forty hospitals that month.
- 24:47Speaker 3: We don't even know what COVID is at the time.
- 24:49Speaker 5: I'm walking in the hospital, you know, facilities just like
- 24:52Speaker 5: the doctors and the nurses is feeding them. And I
- 24:55Speaker 5: think I showed the community so much of my philanthropy,
- 24:59Speaker 5: my community involvement in my gearback or what I cared about.
- 25:02Speaker 5: I think that that now shows the.
- 25:04Speaker 3: People that they want me here for the long haul.
- 25:06Speaker 5: They respect it, they honer it, they see what I
- 25:09Speaker 5: stand for, and they keeping me here along the way.
- 25:11Speaker 5: And it's only a blessing for me, because honestly, sometimes
- 25:14Speaker 5: I could be talking to a restaurant guy and they
- 25:17Speaker 5: might tell me, man, you know, I'm down. It's the
- 25:19Speaker 5: worst time of the year for me. I don't know
- 25:21Speaker 5: how I'm gonna survive. And I'm opening locations left and right.
- 25:24Speaker 5: So it's like, you know, I can't. I can't, you know,
- 25:27Speaker 5: cope and say I know how that feel because I'm
- 25:30Speaker 5: in a different space right now. But I can tell
- 25:33Speaker 5: you what I know how I feel is trying to
- 25:34Speaker 5: get there, you know, trying to climb out of one
- 25:37Speaker 5: location to get another. It's one of the hardest things ever.
- 25:39Speaker 5: Because nobody probably will say this, but I'm gonna tell
- 25:42Speaker 5: you this. If you only got one location, you ain't
- 25:45Speaker 5: making no money. So it's really it's really no room
- 25:49Speaker 5: for you in the restaurant market. You only got fifteen
- 25:52Speaker 5: to twenty percent profit margins. Somebody go bang out three
- 25:55Speaker 5: cases of my wings.
- 25:55Speaker 3: They killed my bottom line. That's how the restaurant business work.
- 25:59Speaker 5: So it's like every thing that you do in the
- 26:01Speaker 5: business got to be like dead on and you got
- 26:03Speaker 5: to have space for mess ups. But you also have
- 26:05Speaker 5: to have multiple locations to actually start seeing what you
- 26:08Speaker 5: got going on.
- 26:09Speaker 6: So as far as like the franchise is somebody wants
- 26:11Speaker 6: they have to come with a location, I.
- 26:14Speaker 5: Mean, that's a blessing if they do that, but we
- 26:15Speaker 5: got to approve the location. But the other thing is
- 26:19Speaker 5: we're not just approving people and improving money. We want operators,
- 26:24Speaker 5: you know, I want people that know the business. If
- 26:26Speaker 5: they don't know the business, they can hire the business.
- 26:28Speaker 5: Because let me tell you something man like. And I
- 26:31Speaker 5: take this like with me every single day. Wat should
- 26:34Speaker 5: my dad take his last breath for what I'm doing
- 26:36Speaker 5: right now? I take it personal. Every time I get
- 26:39Speaker 5: a no, or I get an if, or I get
- 26:43Speaker 5: any type of you know, doubt in me that put
- 26:45Speaker 5: a battery in my back because I never forget the
- 26:47Speaker 5: day that my dad took his last breath, and I'd
- 26:49Speaker 5: be like, you know, y'all got me f'd up, y'all
- 26:50Speaker 5: gonna see me on the other side and listen. And
- 26:53Speaker 5: I'm saying this, I will be one of the biggest
- 26:56Speaker 5: entrepreneurs that ever done this. By the time I'm dead
- 26:58Speaker 5: and going, they will talk about me in his three
- 27:00Speaker 5: books and I will be alive when I'm dead.
- 27:02Speaker 3: So that's that's my goal. I ain't chasing money, though.
- 27:07Speaker 8: So what's the goal, right? Because you don't want to
- 27:10Speaker 8: scale too fast?
- 27:11Speaker 7: And you said the hardest thing to do is to
- 27:13Speaker 7: create another spot location when you have one.
- 27:18Speaker 8: So is there is there a number?
- 27:20Speaker 7: When you started like, was there I need I want
- 27:23Speaker 7: to have thirty locations. I want to have one hundred locations.
- 27:26Speaker 7: I want to have a doubt. Was there a number
- 27:27Speaker 7: when you started? And has that number changed as you
- 27:29Speaker 7: see the success of the business.
- 27:30Speaker 5: Yeah, well, before we put out the franchise and we
- 27:33Speaker 5: were just going to do forty or fifty and then
- 27:35Speaker 5: let it slow roll. But the attention everything was getting in,
- 27:38Speaker 5: Like I already had sixteen hundred people in the pot.
- 27:42Speaker 5: You know, we we ain't never And it's the blessing
- 27:46Speaker 5: of what I got going on right now. We're not
- 27:48Speaker 5: We're not like waiting for people to sign up. They
- 27:50Speaker 5: already waiting.
- 27:51Speaker 8: We we got sixteen hundred people waiting.
- 27:53Speaker 5: We're going through We're going through applications right now saying
- 27:56Speaker 5: who we want to.
- 27:56Speaker 4: I mean taking franchise? Do you want to open?
- 27:59Speaker 5: So right now is to do a hundred in the
- 28:01Speaker 5: next twelve to twenty four months, but who knows, it
- 28:05Speaker 5: could be more than that, depends on what type of
- 28:07Speaker 5: the right groups come along. But we we got an
- 28:10Speaker 5: operation right now strong enough if a thousand come our way,
- 28:13Speaker 5: I'm confident that we can run them because I don't
- 28:16Speaker 5: just got operators. I got the best operators on my
- 28:18Speaker 5: team in the world.
- 28:19Speaker 6: I feel like choice. So I want to open a
- 28:22Speaker 6: Big Dave Cheese Steaks in Brooklyn. I see a storefront.
- 28:25Speaker 6: I think it's a good idea. I some of my application.
- 28:28Speaker 6: I meet with you, you approve it. I pay you
- 28:31Speaker 6: up front fee.
- 28:33Speaker 3: You pay the up front fee.
- 28:34Speaker 5: So so I'm gonna just rewind back a little bit.
- 28:38Speaker 5: So in order for you to get a franchise right
- 28:41Speaker 5: now from Big Days, you got.
- 28:42Speaker 3: To take five locations.
- 28:44Speaker 4: You can't do one.
- 28:45Speaker 3: No, I don't know.
- 28:46Speaker 4: I mean because five locations close to each other.
- 28:49Speaker 5: No, I mean we gotta it's in an FDD we
- 28:52Speaker 5: got a gap or how far we want them apart.
- 28:53Speaker 5: But you got to take five locations right now, because
- 28:57Speaker 5: like I said, we in this uh to build people.
- 29:01Speaker 4: You have the locations.
- 29:02Speaker 3: No, no, no, you can pick the location.
- 29:04Speaker 5: So like right now on our on our franchise, franchise's
- 29:07Speaker 5: closure and our pamphlet, we got the markets.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Where we're planning on going where we want them at.
- 29:12Speaker 5: So like we got a blue yellow mean blue, uh,
- 29:16Speaker 5: red and a gray gray is like where we want to.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Go in the future.
- 29:20Speaker 5: Blue is where we want to go and red is,
- 29:23Speaker 5: I think is where we already have locations at right now,
- 29:26Speaker 5: but like you have the opportunity to take the location
- 29:30Speaker 5: where you want to take it to.
- 29:31Speaker 3: We think the market is right for it.
- 29:33Speaker 7: So when you're I mean, if you're trying to explaid that,
- 29:35Speaker 7: let's say you're not franchising, but you're trying to what's
- 29:38Speaker 7: the criteria for you, Like, what are the demographics?
- 29:40Speaker 8: What are the analytics that you're looking at?
- 29:42Speaker 7: Because I know you said you sent the food trucks
- 29:43Speaker 7: up to Charlotte and so we can see how the
- 29:45Speaker 7: food truck is doing.
- 29:46Speaker 8: This might be a good location.
- 29:48Speaker 7: Are there any other message that methods that you use
- 29:50Speaker 7: when trying to find a location location for yourself?
- 29:53Speaker 5: To be honest, man, like, once you make it past
- 29:56Speaker 5: all my team metrics, what they have set up, and
- 30:00Speaker 5: our FDD, it's about energy. For me, I really feel
- 30:05Speaker 5: like I'm a good judgment and character. I always felt
- 30:07Speaker 5: that way. And I also feel like if you got
- 30:10Speaker 5: operators around you and you're a business minded person, then
- 30:14Speaker 5: we can make it. We can make some success happen.
- 30:16Speaker 5: But I don't want to be around a person that's driven.
- 30:19Speaker 5: I'm sure y'all been around these type people too, and
- 30:21Speaker 5: everything is just money.
- 30:22Speaker 3: The whole conversation is money.
- 30:24Speaker 5: I tell people all the time, like you get in
- 30:26Speaker 5: the room with a billionaire and the worst thing you
- 30:28Speaker 5: could talk about is money. He already got money. You
- 30:31Speaker 5: got to create opportunity. So when I'm talking to these people,
- 30:34Speaker 5: they got to create opportunity. So we got we got
- 30:36Speaker 5: to meet each other in the middle of they telling
- 30:38Speaker 5: me right now, hey, you know I can start out
- 30:40Speaker 5: with these five locations. I got this operator, and I
- 30:43Speaker 5: want to build opportunity to be able to do twenty
- 30:45Speaker 5: of them. Now you got my attention, you know, because
- 30:47Speaker 5: now we got something. We gotta hope, we gotta dream together.
- 30:50Speaker 5: We got a vision. But if you already feel like
- 30:52Speaker 5: we won because you did this, we lost because we
- 30:54Speaker 5: ain't proven it yet.
- 30:57Speaker 4: To look at So five, five at one time or
- 31:03Speaker 4: five like.
- 31:03Speaker 5: Over theme, No, no, no, you just take five. Just
- 31:05Speaker 5: sign up five locations. You got a time that you
- 31:08Speaker 5: got to do them.
- 31:09Speaker 4: You know it could be like over the course of
- 31:10Speaker 4: three years.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Not yeah, so exactly.
- 31:12Speaker 4: So you just you make a commitment that you're going
- 31:14Speaker 4: to open up.
- 31:15Speaker 5: Your five make the commitment that you're about to open
- 31:18Speaker 5: these locations, and.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Then they pay you a license fee.
- 31:20Speaker 5: Well, they pay a franchise fee every month. No, they
- 31:23Speaker 5: paid a franchise royalty fee every week. Top line cells
- 31:27Speaker 5: every week every week. Yeah, So that's why it's important too.
- 31:32Speaker 5: That's why I said I care so much about the
- 31:34Speaker 5: bottom lines too, because we're not just trying to take
- 31:36Speaker 5: people money.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Want people to see profits, you know what I'm saying.
- 31:39Speaker 5: So like right now, you don't want to jump into
- 31:41Speaker 5: this world if your business ain't right, because you can't
- 31:44Speaker 5: promise somebody something just because you can do it. You
- 31:46Speaker 5: gotta have a format and the system that shows proof.
- 31:49Speaker 5: It's like science. You know, we look at science and
- 31:51Speaker 5: we say, okay, we got we got these things that
- 31:54Speaker 5: lead us up to something being authentic, being real. Well,
- 31:58Speaker 5: in our metrics, we have it leading up to show you,
- 32:00Speaker 5: you know, what's going on and how you can do
- 32:02Speaker 5: these things if you stay at course with the brand.
- 32:04Speaker 7: Are the things that they can change inside of the
- 32:07Speaker 7: franchise or does it everyone have to be cookie cuttered
- 32:11Speaker 7: exactly what's inside of the you said the FDD Right.
- 32:14Speaker 5: Yeah, you gotta stay you gotta stay at course to
- 32:16Speaker 5: the rules, and you can't you can't can't be a specialty.
- 32:18Speaker 5: They can't be something hot dogs and hamburgers not what.
- 32:21Speaker 6: About the core, Like let's say you in Oakland and
- 32:24Speaker 6: you want to have like an E forty Mirrol, Like,
- 32:27Speaker 6: how strict are you?
- 32:28Speaker 4: Are you like extremely strict or no.
- 32:30Speaker 5: I'm actually, I'm actually we just talked about that. I'm
- 32:33Speaker 5: open to that. I think that's actually dope, to be honest,
- 32:36Speaker 5: I think that's that's decent. If whatever community you come into,
- 32:40Speaker 5: I'm all about bringing people together and whatever that does. Like,
- 32:43Speaker 5: you know, one day I might want to do a
- 32:46Speaker 5: hip hop big Days where you know, I might have
- 32:48Speaker 5: all the hip hop artists on the wall. I'm talking
- 32:50Speaker 5: about everybody, you know. I like the stuff that's going
- 32:53Speaker 5: to bring the culture together. And I feel like if
- 32:55Speaker 5: we can open locations and people you know, bring their
- 32:57Speaker 5: city culture in there without changing the concept, that works.
- 33:01Speaker 4: But the food can't be changed at all.
- 33:03Speaker 3: I'm thinking that.
- 33:05Speaker 8: You come might make a bacon naggad cheese cheese sick.
- 33:09Speaker 3: You know, it's so crazy. You might just have to
- 33:11Speaker 3: do really have to do that because we got a
- 33:13Speaker 3: steak in egg you know what I'm saying.
- 33:14Speaker 8: So like, but you got it listen word up here.
- 33:18Speaker 3: But the big bag and egga cheese, won't I just
- 33:21Speaker 3: had one five.
- 33:22Speaker 5: I just literally ate a bake a nigga cheese fi
- 33:23Speaker 5: I pulled up bro Nokay, I literally was in the
- 33:25Speaker 5: car before I just stopped.
- 33:26Speaker 3: At the bigger nigga cheese. No, but you're right.
- 33:29Speaker 5: But so what we did was like so in Philly
- 33:32Speaker 5: when I was growing up, like the breakfast sandwich would
- 33:34Speaker 5: have been like the steaking egg, you know, like a
- 33:36Speaker 5: cheese steak.
- 33:37Speaker 3: With an almond over the top.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Right.
- 33:39Speaker 5: So over the years, I've been wanting to put this
- 33:42Speaker 5: in days and I'm like, you know, we gotta know
- 33:43Speaker 5: piss some a couple of things on the breakfast menu.
- 33:45Speaker 3: So we came out with this. Uh hearders, what's going on?
- 33:49Speaker 4: Listen?
- 33:49Speaker 7: E y l U is relaunching, revamping, retooing. That's why
- 33:53Speaker 7: we're creating a new educational experience that's more expensive.
- 33:57Speaker 9: Well, yes, twenty twenty three, a lot is still a
- 34:01Speaker 9: lot planning for you guys.
- 34:02Speaker 4: So you know that EYLU already includes.
- 34:05Speaker 9: Monthly financial planning calls with Me, book club calls with Troy,
- 34:08Speaker 9: real estate calls with MG No mortgage got access to
- 34:11Speaker 9: the home buying Blueprint volume one and Volume two. Part
- 34:15Speaker 9: of the revamp will include twenty seven local chapters from

- 34:23Speaker 9: just pre recorded videos, plus fifteen brand new curriculums.

- 34:34Speaker 10: e y L you n I V E R s

- 36:33Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 36:37Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from El Salvador
- 36:41Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 36:45Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 36:49Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 36:53Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christinehm, the United States Secretary
- 36:57Speaker 1: of Homeland Security. Under President true, attempted illegal border crossings
- 37:02Speaker 1: are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over one
- 37:05Speaker 1: hundred thousand illegal aliens.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Have been arrested.
- 37:08Speaker 1: If you are here illegally, your next you will be
- 37:12Speaker 1: fine nearly one thousand dollars a day. Imprisoned and deported,
- 37:16Speaker 1: you will never return. But if you register using our
- 37:19Speaker 1: CBP home app and leave now, you could be allowed
- 37:22Speaker 1: to return legally. Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump,
- 37:28Speaker 1: America's laws, border and families will be protected.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 37:34Speaker 5: The steak and egg cheese steak which is like the
- 37:36Speaker 5: breakfast sallenge, and then we got the cheesteak egros that's
- 37:40Speaker 5: to got the egg in them with the steak. So
- 37:43Speaker 5: we're transitioning and you know, bringing a breakfast menu in
- 37:46Speaker 5: and making things a little different on there. But when
- 37:48Speaker 5: it comes to like changing the menu, nah, because this
- 37:52Speaker 5: is the thing. My menu is simple, but it works
- 37:54Speaker 5: and it's powerful. I think when people go lower, they
- 37:56Speaker 5: mayu what with a whole bunch of things that's not selling.
- 38:00Speaker 5: Like I could literally tell you right now it's probably
- 38:03Speaker 5: fifty percent of the market got stuff.
- 38:05Speaker 3: On their menus where it just ain't making money. Like
- 38:08Speaker 3: chicken wings don't make money. It got a bone in it.
- 38:11Speaker 3: It's no stretch.
- 38:12Speaker 5: So like if somebody, like when if an employee right
- 38:15Speaker 5: now over cooks a chicken wing or eats a chicken wing,
- 38:19Speaker 5: or you miss the count on the chicken wing, you lose.
- 38:23Speaker 3: You know, whether when I'm.
- 38:24Speaker 5: Cooking chicken breasts right when I'm making cheese steaks, it's breast.
- 38:29Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying, it's chicken breast. So it
- 38:30Speaker 5: allows us to now be able to pick a good
- 38:33Speaker 5: marination on it, you know, the way we cook it
- 38:37Speaker 5: that make you feel like, you know, you're not getting
- 38:38Speaker 5: cheated on the sandwich. You getting a real good, healthy sandwich.
- 38:41Speaker 5: You're getting chicken wings whatever the market gives you. You know,
- 38:43Speaker 5: if the wings are small that week, whatever came in,
- 38:46Speaker 5: and then you might have customers, you know, complaining about
- 38:48Speaker 5: you know what they got.
- 38:49Speaker 3: But I think what we have right now.
- 38:51Speaker 5: We controlling the market and we like how we able
- 38:54Speaker 5: to be effective with the customers with it.
- 38:56Speaker 6: So Trump Philly. Some top musicians have played a part
- 39:01Speaker 6: in your story. Right, so you know Meek right, Yeah,
- 39:06Speaker 6: and his man.
- 39:07Speaker 5: Talk Talk is a tac is a big part of
- 39:11Speaker 5: my story. Talk introduced me to a lot of people
- 39:14Speaker 5: in the industry. That's my dog, that's my brother, Forever Will.
- 39:18Speaker 5: He's always over my house. We sit there and just
- 39:20Speaker 5: kick it all the time and reminisce about everything that happened.
- 39:23Speaker 3: But I really solely I built.
- 39:26Speaker 5: Big Daves in a gas station. But at nighttime, I
- 39:28Speaker 5: built it in the studios. Shout out the drama Cannon
- 39:32Speaker 5: and Lake. They had a studio I would go into
- 39:36Speaker 5: every single night by you know, being we from Philly.
- 39:40Speaker 5: We would kick it in there and I would bring
- 39:41Speaker 5: food and whatever artists went there, they would order the
- 39:44Speaker 5: food and I started really just growing from there. But
- 39:48Speaker 5: speaking of the salmon, because we were talking about that earlier,
- 39:51Speaker 5: the salmon cheese they came about from Uzi.
- 39:54Speaker 4: Uzi one day knew him already. Yeah, yeah, from Philly
- 39:57Speaker 4: or no.
- 39:58Speaker 5: No, I met I met Uzi in an Atlanta. Yeah,
- 40:01Speaker 5: I'm at wuzzy through top. But were in the studio
- 40:05Speaker 5: and we and we in there kicking it in. One night,
- 40:06Speaker 5: he like, yo, you always bringing food and I never
- 40:08Speaker 5: get thatheing for me. All I can eat is the fries.
- 40:11Speaker 5: So I have one of my cooks making salmon cheese steak.
- 40:15Speaker 3: No he beef at all.
- 40:16Speaker 5: Yeah, the salmon cheese steak. And he wasn't crazy, but
- 40:19Speaker 5: I'm like, man, I'm putting.
- 40:20Speaker 3: This on a menu.
- 40:22Speaker 5: Next thing you know, I got salmon eggros on the menu.
- 40:24Speaker 5: I got salmon cheese steaks on the menu. And it
- 40:26Speaker 5: started being a hot cellar. Like I use, I use.
- 40:30Speaker 3: I tell people all the.
- 40:31Speaker 5: Time, don't be that person to be in circle and
- 40:34Speaker 5: don't have nothing to offer, Like if you're around artists,
- 40:37Speaker 5: you're around athletes, you're around actors, actresses, whatever, be beneficial,
- 40:43Speaker 5: Like be something that you. They always need something. Somebody
- 40:46Speaker 5: in them circles need something, so beat the something they
- 40:48Speaker 5: need the.
- 40:49Speaker 6: Purchase, Rich Paul said. Rich Paul, he was like, an
- 40:52Speaker 6: athlete is going to need an ecosystem of people. Gonna
- 40:54Speaker 6: need a driver, he gonna need a barber, he gonna
- 40:57Speaker 6: need security, He's gonna need somebody to watch this car,
- 41:00Speaker 6: You're gonna need these. Like the problem is that the
- 41:02Speaker 6: Homeboys a lot of times the ego it just hanging around, right,
- 41:06Speaker 6: And it's only so long that you can hang around
- 41:08Speaker 6: before somebody kicks you off of the boat. But it's
- 41:11Speaker 6: like if you you should identify how you can add
- 41:14Speaker 6: value to somebody's.
- 41:14Speaker 5: Like yeah, like I ain't hanging around you and I
- 41:17Speaker 5: can't figure out how to make money through you. Like
- 41:19Speaker 5: if you that listen, I'm gonna tell everybody this is
- 41:22Speaker 5: gonna watch this podcast. If you around, if you have
- 41:24Speaker 5: a blessing to bear around somebody right now with the
- 41:27Speaker 5: ball in their hands and you broke it, ain't they fuck,
- 41:30Speaker 5: It's your fault because whatever they are around, you need
- 41:33Speaker 5: to find a piece of who you are that can
- 41:35Speaker 5: be beneficial to the system.
- 41:37Speaker 3: They got going on to the world to see what
- 41:38Speaker 3: you got.
- 41:39Speaker 5: Like you could put me in a room right now
- 41:41Speaker 5: with a bunch of concrete masons and I on La
- 41:44Speaker 5: Seemen and I'm gonna tell them right now that I
- 41:46Speaker 5: own Big Daves and I'm looking for a GC and
- 41:48Speaker 5: some contracts. I'm gona figure out a way to make
- 41:50Speaker 5: the connection. Like I feel like, you know, we don't
- 41:53Speaker 5: do a lot of connection maker. And then the one
- 41:54Speaker 5: thing that you spoke on and I'm gonna speak on
- 41:56Speaker 5: this is that the reason why that don't work in
- 41:59Speaker 5: a lot of these groups is because the ego, like
- 42:03Speaker 5: my homie don't want to grab the bag because he
- 42:04Speaker 5: remember me being a homie. No, i'm your boss now
- 42:07Speaker 5: I'm not your home like you know what I'm saying.
- 42:09Speaker 5: And you need to get.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Out that at that stage and understand that this is
- 42:12Speaker 3: how we're gonna grow.
- 42:13Speaker 5: Because if you on the boat and I'm driving a boat,
- 42:16Speaker 5: somebody got to be rowing it. Somebody got to make
- 42:19Speaker 5: sure we ain't sinking. And the whole time is if
- 42:21Speaker 5: you're worrying about how people stroking my ego or the world,
- 42:24Speaker 5: you know they they giving me the hand claps.
- 42:27Speaker 3: No, they're giving us the hand class. They just ain't
- 42:28Speaker 3: saying your name. That's the problem.
- 42:30Speaker 5: When people don't under hear they don't hear their name,
- 42:32Speaker 5: they feel like they're not getting a clap. But I
- 42:34Speaker 5: can guarantee you when they say are your Lesia, They're
- 42:36Speaker 5: not saying rashat de Troy. They're saying, are your leisure
- 42:38Speaker 5: y'all getting the clap? You know what I'm saying so
- 42:40Speaker 5: like when we in groups, we don't understand that we
- 42:42Speaker 5: be knocking ourselves down because the one person who getting
- 42:45Speaker 5: recognized for stuff is the one getting the claps. But
- 42:48Speaker 5: you know you behind the scenes putting everything together, so
- 42:50Speaker 5: you should feel good about that yourself.
- 42:52Speaker 3: And that's how we're gonna grow.
- 42:53Speaker 7: This is a message brought to you by the good
- 42:56Speaker 7: brothers that are your leisure and Derek k Is I
- 42:59Speaker 7: support this message.
- 43:00Speaker 4: That's a fact. And people like you said it's ego.
- 43:02Speaker 4: People think like.
- 43:04Speaker 6: You see somebody as you're equal growing up, but everybody
- 43:07Speaker 6: doesn't grow at the same rate. So at some point
- 43:09Speaker 6: in time it's okay one person might accelerate their growth.
- 43:14Speaker 6: And you have to have enough humility. You know that
- 43:17Speaker 6: you're not you're not equals anymore.
- 43:20Speaker 3: But it don't be working and sho and you should
- 43:22Speaker 3: charge your battery.
- 43:23Speaker 5: Moore, Listen, do you know if I was to talk
- 43:26Speaker 5: to somebody on the phone and I could be staggering
- 43:28Speaker 5: right now trying to figure out what my next move is.
- 43:30Speaker 5: They could be like, yo, I just did this man
- 43:32Speaker 5: that just motivated It's just like you just plug me
- 43:34Speaker 5: up to iPhone like I'm charged again, Like I get
- 43:36Speaker 5: charged off of that. But some people with no drive,
- 43:40Speaker 5: they get this motivated, they got they don't know how
- 43:42Speaker 5: to understand that. Like that's the part that you get
- 43:45Speaker 5: happy of it when you hear somebody doing good, so
- 43:47Speaker 5: you could do better. But until we understand that we
- 43:50Speaker 5: got to clap, even when we hear our names called,
- 43:52Speaker 5: we ain't gonna understand the mission.
- 43:55Speaker 8: How are you dealing with that?
- 43:56Speaker 2: Right?
- 43:56Speaker 7: Because you come from an area and I mean we
- 43:59Speaker 7: come from similar communities.
- 44:00Speaker 8: Where that that's custom.
- 44:02Speaker 7: Right, there's people that watched us to send that grow
- 44:05Speaker 7: with us, but they can't grasp that point and they
- 44:08Speaker 7: don't realize how dreaming that is to know that, yes,
- 44:12Speaker 7: you have been blessed and I'm trying and we're trying
- 44:15Speaker 7: to make it best for everybody, but you're not adding
- 44:18Speaker 7: the value.
- 44:19Speaker 8: How do you deal with that?
- 44:20Speaker 7: Because I'm sure you've come across it and throughout your
- 44:23Speaker 7: career as an entrepreneur, what have you done? What steps
- 44:26Speaker 7: have you taken to make sure that either we're going
- 44:28Speaker 7: to separate this relationship, or we're going to have a
- 44:32Speaker 7: business relationship and a friend relationship, or we're gonna have
- 44:34Speaker 7: no relationship at all.
- 44:34Speaker 5: I'm gonna answer that whole because I just went through this.
- 44:37Speaker 5: But I'm gonna answer to you and myself form what
- 44:40Speaker 5: I went through. So I actually had more money than
- 44:44Speaker 5: a lot of the people that I was around and
- 44:46Speaker 5: lost it. Right, So now I'm telling them before they
- 44:49Speaker 5: get the money how they got to control the.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Money because it's spent easy.
- 44:53Speaker 5: Like even when people see a million dollars, they think,
- 44:55Speaker 5: you know, it's everything, But a million dollars ain't no
- 44:57Speaker 5: money when you got a million dollar bills, so you
- 44:59Speaker 5: spending like you got trillion dollars. So the thing is,
- 45:02Speaker 5: for one, you gotta like literally get outside your own
- 45:06Speaker 5: self and understand the mission. Like when I was around
- 45:09Speaker 5: all these celebrities and the rappers and all of that,
- 45:11Speaker 5: and I just blew all this money. I'm sitting in
- 45:14Speaker 5: the rooms now or fly on the wall. I'm in
- 45:16Speaker 5: your world. I'm not in my world no more. I
- 45:18Speaker 5: know that I know that I'm okay with with with
- 45:21Speaker 5: listening to your stories and hearing how you got here
- 45:24Speaker 5: and withish your goals because now I need to get
- 45:26Speaker 5: that motivation back. I'm you know, once you once you
- 45:29Speaker 5: get dismotivated, sometimes you know how to control your life again,
- 45:32Speaker 5: you get lost, and I feel like the blessing from
- 45:34Speaker 5: that is like for me losing everything I had, like
- 45:38Speaker 5: I had blessings like walking around Rick ross House getting
- 45:41Speaker 5: stories from him, him telling me he got five hundred
- 45:44Speaker 5: thousand dollars paintings and a million dollar paintings and stuff
- 45:46Speaker 5: like that.
- 45:47Speaker 3: And I'm sitting there like this somebody look like me.
- 45:51Speaker 5: This is somebody that that that that got the ball,
- 45:54Speaker 5: probably lost the ball, got it back, And that's motivating me.
- 45:57Speaker 5: Like even when I'm around you know me or who's
- 46:00Speaker 5: you know, any of these guys early on in the game,
- 46:02Speaker 5: when I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna get
- 46:04Speaker 5: back started, I'm looking at what they got and how
- 46:07Speaker 5: they doing it.
- 46:07Speaker 3: I never forget this.
- 46:09Speaker 5: First time I go in Meek House, right, I'm like, damn,
- 46:14Speaker 5: this is this is it?
- 46:15Speaker 3: This is a castle. Right.
- 46:16Speaker 5: But I'm saying damn to myself because I'm like, it's
- 46:21Speaker 5: time to get it again. It's time to crink back up.
- 46:24Speaker 5: Like it's somebody from you, your city, you know what
- 46:26Speaker 5: I'm saying, that did this. So I take stuff differently,
- 46:29Speaker 5: like I get motivated off of your success. I don't
- 46:31Speaker 5: do no hating. You know what I'm saying, I'm gonna
- 46:34Speaker 5: keep on going because let me tell you what feels good.
- 46:36Speaker 5: What feels good to me is that when you could
- 46:39Speaker 5: walk in a room and meet me in that room
- 46:41Speaker 5: and I ain't invite you, you know what I'm saying,
- 46:44Speaker 5: Like you might see me at places and you're trying
- 46:47Speaker 5: to figure out how I got there.
- 46:48Speaker 3: My hard work got me there. You ain't have to
- 46:49Speaker 3: give me no invitation.
- 46:50Speaker 5: I see you when I see you, because you're gonna
- 46:52Speaker 5: respect me differently that way, You're always gonna respect the
- 46:55Speaker 5: level well before the handout. And that's how I always
- 46:57Speaker 5: respected I never had my handout. I always had the workout.
- 47:00Speaker 5: If you work hard, to work going to take care
- 47:02Speaker 5: of you later.
- 47:02Speaker 8: That's a great segue because we do see you everywhere
- 47:05Speaker 8: because we're everywhere as well.
- 47:07Speaker 7: We do run into youll a lot of places, and
- 47:10Speaker 7: I never wondered why, I know why you are there.
- 47:12Speaker 7: But talk about the importance of showing up in spaces
- 47:15Speaker 7: where people don't expect you, because I mean, it's bigger
- 47:18Speaker 7: than cheese steaks, bigger than vegan burgers.
- 47:21Speaker 8: It's brand. It's about relationships and networking that's important.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Let me tell you a true story.
- 47:26Speaker 5: I got my CNBC Breaking News because I was at
- 47:31Speaker 5: the right place and I went over there and shot
- 47:33Speaker 5: my shot. See, I'm the type of person like, if
- 47:36Speaker 5: I'm in a room with somebody and I feel like
- 47:39Speaker 5: the synergy is there at the time is right, I'm
- 47:41Speaker 5: gonna pitch something in a way that you're gonna know
- 47:44Speaker 5: that this is gonna be beneficial to the both sides.
- 47:46Speaker 5: And when I'm in rooms, even when I don't look
- 47:50Speaker 5: like I belong there, people might be in suit and
- 47:52Speaker 5: ties and I might have a sweatsuit on. I tell
- 47:54Speaker 5: my manager Mike all the time. He'd be like, you know,
- 47:57Speaker 5: you want to wear a button.
- 47:58Speaker 3: I'm not. I'm coming as me, you know I want.
- 48:00Speaker 3: I want to be the entrepreneur that.
- 48:02Speaker 5: You respected because he was his true self. Because I
- 48:06Speaker 5: can't fake my true self. I gotta fake being you.
- 48:09Speaker 5: I ain't got to fake being myself. Though I'm respectful,
- 48:11Speaker 5: I'm humble, I'm confident, I'm educational, I can give you game.
- 48:16Speaker 5: I could do anything that these guys can do, but
- 48:18Speaker 5: I ain't about to change to look like them because
- 48:20Speaker 5: I'm me.
- 48:22Speaker 3: So that's how I get them room.
- 48:23Speaker 4: I mean employees.
- 48:24Speaker 3: You are between one thirty and to.
- 48:28Speaker 4: Us a lot of employees.
- 48:29Speaker 6: So one of the hardest things is, you know, maintaining
- 48:31Speaker 6: a positive culture and a good culture and more people
- 48:35Speaker 6: was harder to manage. So how do you manage that
- 48:38Speaker 6: level of employees and how do you maintain an established
- 48:42Speaker 6: culture for your organization?
- 48:44Speaker 3: First a good team. I just said this a few
- 48:47Speaker 3: days ago.
- 48:48Speaker 5: So I got a few core employees that uh that
- 48:52Speaker 5: been with me for a while now, some five six years.
- 48:56Speaker 5: I think the culture starts with the people that you
- 48:58Speaker 5: brung in the system, because I'm not in the restaurants
- 49:01Speaker 5: no more, you know, showing people how to cook or
- 49:04Speaker 5: in they're giving them game. But I'm in there because
- 49:07Speaker 5: the ones I trained is me. They believe in the dream,
- 49:11Speaker 5: they believe in the vision, and you can't have people
- 49:14Speaker 5: around you trying to teach culture if you ain't.
- 49:15Speaker 3: Never give them no ownership.
- 49:18Speaker 5: My core people I gave fantom equity to as long
- 49:21Speaker 5: as they in the company survived.
- 49:23Speaker 3: When I exit.
- 49:24Speaker 5: The company down, got away for no four to one
- 49:26Speaker 5: K or retirement, they got big daves waiting. And I
- 49:29Speaker 5: think when people got something to look up to and
- 49:32Speaker 5: to look for, they give you they all because that's
- 49:35Speaker 5: just like right now, if we was making a bunch
- 49:37Speaker 5: of money every single week and we're working for a
- 49:39Speaker 5: company that we ain't never seen the CEO. We don't
- 49:43Speaker 5: know who our biggest manager is. We just know who
- 49:46Speaker 5: our field manager is working with us every day. That's
- 49:49Speaker 5: a job I'm giving out careers.
- 49:51Speaker 3: It's a difference.
- 49:52Speaker 5: You know, people say, how can you give out a
- 49:54Speaker 5: career from a sandwich shop?
- 49:55Speaker 3: While I'm doing it.
- 49:56Speaker 5: People that bought houses, they didn't bought cars. Even people
- 49:59Speaker 5: that didn't have a house been homeless. I didn't see
- 50:01Speaker 5: any lives change. I didn't seen people take courses in
- 50:04Speaker 5: school through big days. So like I've seen lives change
- 50:07Speaker 5: through this. And that's what made me feel good with this.
- 50:09Speaker 5: With the culture, And that's one of the scariest things
- 50:11Speaker 5: that I really struggle with the franchise because I always
- 50:14Speaker 5: wanted to keep that culture in there, that same that
- 50:16Speaker 5: same feeling we walk into locations.
- 50:18Speaker 3: But now I got the.
- 50:19Speaker 5: Corporate team right now and the training team to make
- 50:22Speaker 5: sure that culture is there.
- 50:24Speaker 6: Do you have like meetings with them to tell them, like,
- 50:26Speaker 6: this is what we want, this is customers always right.
- 50:30Speaker 5: Do you have every Monday, every Monday. So every day
- 50:34Speaker 5: of the week I'm on the team, I'm gonna call
- 50:36Speaker 5: with a different team. So on Mondays, I'm gonna call
- 50:40Speaker 5: with my corporate team. On Tuesdays, I'm on calls with
- 50:43Speaker 5: my operations team. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, I might be
- 50:47Speaker 5: on the call with just my president and we're working
- 50:48Speaker 5: through strategy. On Fridays, I might be now on a
- 50:51Speaker 5: call with my franchise team. So like when I say teams,
- 50:54Speaker 5: like I got a whole team, a franchise team that
- 50:57Speaker 5: just deal with the franchising.
- 50:58Speaker 3: I got corporate team, I got operations.
- 51:01Speaker 5: Team, but all together with a family, and it all
- 51:03Speaker 5: funnels up and it all works together to make it work.
- 51:06Speaker 7: Big Day is something that is obviously extremely personal to you.
- 51:10Speaker 8: Yeah, we've seen that in business.
- 51:13Speaker 7: Is there ever a point that you can see yourself
- 51:15Speaker 7: getting to saying that you know what, we're gonna package
- 51:18Speaker 7: us up and we're going to sell this.
- 51:21Speaker 5: I ain't there yet, but the moment I do get there,
- 51:25Speaker 5: I think the whole world to know about end they
- 51:27Speaker 5: will be everywhere.
- 51:28Speaker 3: But what I.
- 51:29Speaker 5: Will say is this, when I when I first built
- 51:31Speaker 5: my gas station location and I had my firstborn daughter, Dallas.
- 51:36Speaker 5: I would drive in a car with her and just
- 51:38Speaker 5: be me and her, and I'm telling y'all something personal
- 51:39Speaker 5: I never even shared with the world ever.
- 51:41Speaker 3: Not even nobody really. I used to drive with her
- 51:43Speaker 3: in a car.
- 51:44Speaker 5: I had a donut on my car, right I'm in
- 51:46Speaker 5: a Jaguar, got no money to put this this tire
- 51:49Speaker 5: on the car, and I got my daughter in the
- 51:50Speaker 5: car and I.
- 51:51Speaker 3: Used to talk to her. She can't even speak, you know, shit, baby, but.
- 51:54Speaker 5: I'm talking to her just like I'm talking to like
- 51:56Speaker 5: one of my homies or whatever, my friends. And I'm like,
- 51:59Speaker 5: you know, one day, we ain't gonna be going through this.
- 52:02Speaker 5: One day, I'm gonna pick big daves on every blue
- 52:05Speaker 5: sign on every exit. So when you've grown and you
- 52:08Speaker 5: got kids, you can say your daddy's stores. That's what
- 52:10Speaker 5: he built like, and that's what was personal to me.
- 52:12Speaker 5: Like when I go on Instagram and sometimes I might
- 52:15Speaker 5: in the right in a caption, no be like this personal.
- 52:18Speaker 5: This is personal, Like I'm not losing through this. I
- 52:20Speaker 5: would stop breathing for this, Like this is personal that
- 52:22Speaker 5: I went for this because I'm not doing this just
- 52:25Speaker 5: for me no more. I'm doing this for every kid
- 52:26Speaker 5: that they look at as a stereotype. They ain't supposed
- 52:30Speaker 5: to be there. They not gonna make it. They bad
- 52:32Speaker 5: to the society. These are all the things that people
- 52:34Speaker 5: said about me at once upon a time. But now
- 52:37Speaker 5: now I'm getting paid to talk. I'm going into schools,
- 52:40Speaker 5: changing lives. I just talked to a school there in
- 52:43Speaker 5: high school and they told me. They literally walked up
- 52:46Speaker 5: to me and the lady was like, I need to
- 52:48Speaker 5: talk to the football team.
- 52:49Speaker 3: They losing.
- 52:49Speaker 5: I said, well, that's already the problem, because y'all already
- 52:52Speaker 5: saying they losing. Like if y'all make people feel like
- 52:55Speaker 5: a loser, then they gonna feel like a loser.
- 52:57Speaker 3: How can we win?
- 52:57Speaker 5: The way we win is we bring each other in unity,
- 53:00Speaker 5: make each other feel good even when we losing.
- 53:02Speaker 3: I ain't always winning.
- 53:03Speaker 5: Should some months I take roller coaster rise, I take dobs,
- 53:05Speaker 5: I lose a couple hundred thousand, don't matter.
- 53:08Speaker 3: I gotta get back at it. The moment you say
- 53:10Speaker 3: you lost, you lost. Until that moment you ain't defeated.
- 53:13Speaker 5: And when people you know, they say I took a loss,
- 53:15Speaker 5: I'll be like, now you ain't take a loss because.
- 53:17Speaker 3: You're still at it.
- 53:18Speaker 5: You still operate, and you ain't take a loss took
- 53:20Speaker 5: you took a pause, and that sometimes them pauses wake
- 53:22Speaker 5: you up to do better. You need that to happen.
- 53:24Speaker 5: If everything right now happens good for y'all, y'all will
- 53:27Speaker 5: never appreciate the times. Y'all won't understand the good times anymore, because, honestly,
- 53:32Speaker 5: sometimes I'll wake up in the morning, I'd be like, damn,
- 53:34Speaker 5: I got something else going on. I got something else
- 53:36Speaker 5: going on, and one moment, something don't feel right.
- 53:38Speaker 3: You getting a stress mode because you got spoiled.
- 53:40Speaker 5: But sometimes you need to get unspoiled with the feel
- 53:42Speaker 5: that this is the reason why you hear this is
- 53:44Speaker 5: why God pitch you in these situations, because you know
- 53:46Speaker 5: you can handle them, and He wanted to pitch you there.
- 53:49Speaker 5: And the way I look at the biggest thing of
- 53:51Speaker 5: it all is that if I'm not striving to do
- 53:55Speaker 5: better every single day, if I'm not going hard at
- 53:57Speaker 5: something that's challenging and it's easy, I'm never gonna be.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Serious at it.
- 54:01Speaker 5: I'm never gonna get real with it. I'm never gonna
- 54:03Speaker 5: take it as something that can be a blessing. Taken
- 54:05Speaker 5: away from me. But if I'm working hard at something
- 54:07Speaker 5: not iront it and I know that if I.
- 54:10Speaker 3: Lose it, my life is over. I'm always gonna appreciate
- 54:12Speaker 3: that more too.
- 54:13Speaker 4: So yeah, is that a number though?
- 54:16Speaker 5: It's like I mean, hey, listen, I tell people all
- 54:19Speaker 5: the time, and I'm saying it's confidently Big Daves will
- 54:22Speaker 5: be worth a billion dollars and it ain't gonna take
- 54:24Speaker 5: a loan.
- 54:24Speaker 3: To do it.
- 54:25Speaker 4: Okay, losing is only an option. When it's an option,
- 54:28Speaker 4: that's that's it. That's the fact.
- 54:30Speaker 6: So as far as outside of the restaurant business, I
- 54:33Speaker 6: know you do all this stuff, real estate investments.
- 54:36Speaker 5: How's that going the real estate man? Listen, So you
- 54:40Speaker 5: know the market funny right now? Insur race is high.
- 54:43Speaker 5: But I'm blessed to say that me and my wife,
- 54:45Speaker 5: we was able to grab a lot of stuff up
- 54:47Speaker 5: before the market got ugly. So we holding on the assets.
- 54:51Speaker 5: That's another thing, man, you know, being thirty six years
- 54:54Speaker 5: old with millions and assets. I remember times I couldn't
- 54:57Speaker 5: feed myself. You understand what I'm saying, Like I remember
- 54:59Speaker 5: when I can't go by McDonald's handburger. So things like
- 55:03Speaker 5: this make me feel appreciative. And I can look at
- 55:05Speaker 5: other people and say, listen, if you work hard one day,
- 55:09Speaker 5: you ain't gonna worry.
- 55:10Speaker 3: About knowing how to feed yourself. It's always going to
- 55:12Speaker 3: be available. And the worst thing of it all is
- 55:14Speaker 3: to be a.
- 55:15Speaker 5: Grown man in America right now and you got to
- 55:19Speaker 5: ask somebody to feed you. Can you imagine right now
- 55:22Speaker 5: you was hungry and you gotta ask, listen, hey, bro,
- 55:25Speaker 5: can you buy me this Chinese meal?
- 55:26Speaker 3: Just file out the grub.
- 55:29Speaker 5: One time he gonna tell you, no, he gonna tell you, Bro,
- 55:32Speaker 5: you gotta go figure something out. And the moment he
- 55:34Speaker 5: tell you, bro, go figure something out, you go and
- 55:36Speaker 5: figure it out. And I'm glad we're o on this
- 55:37Speaker 5: right now because have y'all ever felt like this? You
- 55:40Speaker 5: ever been real hungry? I'm talking about starving, like need
- 55:43Speaker 5: some food, right, You're real hungry, right, But after you've
- 55:47Speaker 5: been hungry for so long, you realize you ain't even
- 55:49Speaker 5: that hungry no more. But if you eat a little
- 55:52Speaker 5: bit of food that was good, you get way more hungry.
- 55:55Speaker 5: You were like, yo, I'm getting a piece of that, right,
- 55:58Speaker 5: But then you go by that same meal and it
- 56:01Speaker 5: don't taste the same you be like, man, they made
- 56:03Speaker 5: suors different. You know why, because when you tasted that food,
- 56:07Speaker 5: you were so hungry at that moment that it felt
- 56:10Speaker 5: good that now you got comfortable again and just say,
- 56:13Speaker 5: all right, I'm gonna go get the same thing.
- 56:14Speaker 3: Instead of striving through that hunger.
- 56:15Speaker 5: Sometimes we got to drive through the hunger and know
- 56:18Speaker 5: that we're hungry for a reason. Like I always would
- 56:21Speaker 5: take a little bit to get a lot later than
- 56:23Speaker 5: they have a lot, because we're never gonna work harder
- 56:24Speaker 5: in the end. If right now they give us a
- 56:27Speaker 5: couple hundred million right now, are y'all still gonna be
- 56:30Speaker 5: reshoting tray A, y'all still gonna be doing this Only
- 56:32Speaker 5: Leader podcast every day? Are y'all still gonna be big
- 56:35Speaker 5: up in the entrepreneurs that's up and coming, Because if
- 56:37Speaker 5: y'all are, then this person and this passionate versus he's
- 56:40Speaker 5: doing it for the dollar signs.
- 56:41Speaker 6: You see what I'm saying, So how you feel about
- 56:42Speaker 6: I put a post on Instagram the other day where
- 56:44Speaker 6: I saw it God was saying that, like the life
- 56:47Speaker 6: of a winner is a lot different than what people
- 56:50Speaker 6: perceive because you always feel like you're actually losing.
- 56:54Speaker 4: You never really feel like you're winning because you don't.
- 56:56Speaker 4: You always focus on what went wrong and yeah, how
- 56:58Speaker 4: you can improve.
- 56:59Speaker 6: And it's extremely like different from what most people can
- 57:03Speaker 6: actually understand. When he said that, I just that just
- 57:05Speaker 6: resonated with me so much because that's how I always
- 57:07Speaker 6: look at things, like I never look at like.
- 57:09Speaker 4: What right, I always look at me.
- 57:10Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 57:10Speaker 6: I feel like I want to so yeah, so I don't.
- 57:13Speaker 6: I don't how you how's that work out for you?
- 57:17Speaker 5: It works in my favor because I think I'm hard
- 57:20Speaker 5: on myself. Nobody in this world is more harder on.
- 57:24Speaker 3: Me than me.
- 57:25Speaker 5: Like literally, nobody can't give me no advice I haven't
- 57:28Speaker 5: gave myself.
- 57:29Speaker 3: Like that's the good thing about.
- 57:31Speaker 5: Being a really good person and being a really good
- 57:33Speaker 5: entrepreneur is that you could take your falls and your
- 57:35Speaker 5: fails and you can say it's my fault, you know,
- 57:38Speaker 5: like sometimes in the situation is always two sides of
- 57:40Speaker 5: every story. But you know when you did, you know
- 57:41Speaker 5: what I mean, it's your fault. And I think by
- 57:44Speaker 5: me not congratulating myself sometimes it.
- 57:48Speaker 3: Make me go harder and excuse me.
- 57:51Speaker 5: I think sometimes me not congratulating myself, sometimes you know
- 57:55Speaker 5: can picture in a little bit stressful situations because sometimes.
- 57:58Speaker 3: You need to give yourself the flowers.
- 57:59Speaker 5: You need a wordy yourself because you are getting up
- 58:02Speaker 5: every morning and chasing your dream, doing the things that
- 58:04Speaker 5: you want to do.
- 58:05Speaker 3: You know a lot of people wake up in the
- 58:06Speaker 3: morning and be miserable because they're not doing the things
- 58:09Speaker 3: they want to do in life.
- 58:10Speaker 5: Like I really wake up every single morning and my
- 58:14Speaker 5: country club home, and I'm looking at my fifth hole
- 58:17Speaker 5: of my golf course, remembering that I came up in
- 58:19Speaker 5: the ghetto and at thirty two thousand dollars home, and
- 58:24Speaker 5: I'm able to say that my hard work and me
- 58:27Speaker 5: being hard on myself and never being content to whatever
- 58:31Speaker 5: guy has for me right now, because I know that
- 58:33Speaker 5: if I keep working for what I really want later on,
- 58:37Speaker 5: it's going to be massive. And my massive ain't just
- 58:40Speaker 5: for me. My massive is for opportunities. Like what y'all
- 58:43Speaker 5: doing right now, y'all gonna give people opportunities to come
- 58:45Speaker 5: in the door under y'all.
- 58:46Speaker 3: What I'm doing right now, I'm.
- 58:47Speaker 5: Giving people opportunities to come in the door under me
- 58:49Speaker 5: that look differently.
- 58:50Speaker 3: That's what I care about.
- 58:53Speaker 7: Talked about things outside the restaurant real estate was one.
- 58:57Speaker 8: But I have noticed you have been lately.
- 59:02Speaker 7: You have been taking trips to a certain streaming platform
- 59:05Speaker 7: to talk about some of the stuff that's going on
- 59:07Speaker 7: in that world of content creation.
- 59:10Speaker 5: I don't know, man, I'm gonna strow this out there. Man,
- 59:12Speaker 5: Pink can have a showing away soon. We might be
- 59:14Speaker 5: working on something. But I just think right now the
- 59:18Speaker 5: opportunities that's falling right now is amazing because you know,
- 59:21Speaker 5: like when you work hard, you can pick and choose
- 59:24Speaker 5: what you want to do. You don't have to say
- 59:25Speaker 5: yes to everything. And me saying no feels good sometimes,
- 59:28Speaker 5: like now I'm not doing that. That's not for my career,
- 59:30Speaker 5: that's not for me, that's not gonna that's not gonna
- 59:33Speaker 5: work for what I stand for or what I'm pushing.
- 59:35Speaker 5: And I think me being an investor right now, I'm
- 59:39Speaker 5: invested in a few businesses and I like to be
- 59:43Speaker 5: able to help people when they got it together. Like
- 59:45Speaker 5: the worst thing you could do is come to somebody
- 59:48Speaker 5: and it ain't together. You have to ask somebody to say,
- 59:50Speaker 5: you know, they got something good. They want you to
- 59:52Speaker 5: invest or what you think about it, and they're paying
- 59:55Speaker 5: people through cash ad.
- 59:56Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, you like, how you gonna win?
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: So these are the things that like I help people out,
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: you know, at the lower level, and I'm talking to
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: them because I'm allowing them to know, like if you
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: want to get taken serious, you got to be serious.
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: You gotta look serious, you got to be together, Like
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: where's your ePK, where's your deck? All these things that matter.
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: And this is what I learned over time because I
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: was that cash up. God was the guy that just
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: give me opportunity. But sometimes as long as you show up,
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: that person that got the opportunity may give you one.
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: So what does your corporate structure look like? You're the CEO.
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: I'm assuming you have a COO, you have a CFO.
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: Yeah, so I got so, I got a president's CFO.
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: I got I'm about to hire a COEO. Now I
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: got that position open. I got human resources, I got GMS,
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: I got field managers, I got food quality chefs. The
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: only thing right now I don't have right now is
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: the COO RO.
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: What are these people that you knew or people that
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: you didn't know.
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: No, that's the best thing of it all. I mean
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: some of them are, but let me tell ya something.
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: So being the CEO and the founder of a popular brand,
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: this is the one thing that sometimes is hard. It's
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: because you want to bring everybody up with you that
- 1:01:10Speaker 5: surround you.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: You know, you want people to grow.
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: But as you try to scale, it take a level
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: of education and scale, and it takes expertise. And I
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: had to really go get a team that really was
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: ready for that and gear it up for that. And man,
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: the most thing of it all is like when you
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: put a stranger in front of a bunch of people faces, they.
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: Respect it more.
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: I don't ask me why, but it's just like they
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: gonna listen to that person more because they don't know
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: how to They don't know how to handle that person.
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: You ever, you ever heard somebody say, like you in
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: a relationship and a person taking advantage because they know
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: how to handle that person.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: They know that person not going nowhere. They don't know
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: how to handle me no more.
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: Because I'll fire anybody, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: I'll fire anybody that's in my company not doing their
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: job because the mission is to get to the to
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: the mountaintop with this, and I feel like anybody getting
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: in the way of that mission. You ain't mission driven
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: in the mission, so it's time to get out the mission.
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: And sometimes it hurt. You know, you're gonna break your
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: heart with some moves you gotta make to get people out.
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: I don't let people go that I love that I
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: wanted to see when that I had a vision for
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: in an end. But how can they have a vision
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: for you if they screwed you while you was trying
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: to wreak on a vision?
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: Dan Cathy, you know Dan Kathy.
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: Yeah, he said something that on investment I think, but
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: I know he's the CEO Chick fil A. He's heard
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: for like four billion dollars last year and investments. He
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: said something that was extremely insightful, and he was like,
- 1:02:27Speaker 6: being an entrepreneur is like a musical composer. And he
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: was like, you you have a certain like you write
- 1:02:34Speaker 6: music right, and you know how the quality of the
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: music should down. And then but you have the musicians
- 1:02:39Speaker 6: who actually have to play the music. So he said,
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: if the music that the musicians are playing are not
- 1:02:46Speaker 6: up to the part of the composition that you wrote,
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: never dumped down the composition, you have to hire new musicians, Like,
- 1:02:54Speaker 6: don't lower how your vision for the music is based
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: off of the talent that you have. One hundred percent
- 1:03:02Speaker 6: that has to stay at part. You just got to
- 1:03:03Speaker 6: get higher level talent to make sure that they are
- 1:03:07Speaker 6: performing at the level of the composition.
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: Now I agree with that one thousand percent, because how
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: you're gonna have somebody on a team that can run
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: and play. That's like, right now, I just told a
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: group of kids that CAAU don't be practice players, don't
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: work and study your game every single day, and then
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: fell the test. Nobody's going to ever recognize you for that.
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: You know, you got people right now, and that's probably
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: in the NBA college basketball, probably the best practice players
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: in the world to make the stars better. But like
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: you was killing him in practice, but until the rest
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: blue the game whistle, you choked. And some of us,
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: you know, we are practice players and we got to
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: do a better job at that. And a lot of
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: us to always give people advice and not taking advice theyself, like,
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: how can you tell me how to be a better
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: financial literate or better financial literacy if you don't have
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: nothing going on, if you don't know the true meaning
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: of it. Because that word is popular right now, every
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: person in the Maria, it's just using.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: I want to break the curse. I want to do
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: all these things.
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: I know what I'm dogger words.
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: Yeah, like the curse is broken, like all these things right,
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: So like what's really breaking the curse?
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: Though?
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: Like what are you doing? Like are you are you
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: breaking the curse for your kids? But how you going
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: to do it?
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: Because you can give your kids a bunch of money
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: and they can piss the money away, Like what.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Did you do to give them the education not to
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: mess the curse up?
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: So like for me, like, I think it's important that
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: you give your kids like debit cards and don't put
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: a lot of money on them and let them get
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: declined in the stores.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: Let them feel what rejection feels like.
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: Let them feel like when they go swipe that car
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: for that toy and they need ten dollars more in
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: that car and then the.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: Registered persons saying sorry, your car didn't go through.
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: Like you need to experience that at an early age,
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: because wait until you become an adult to get declined.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: Don't feel good.
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: Imagine if you got declined when you was fourteen years
- 1:04:52Speaker 5: old and you could.
- 1:04:53Speaker 8: Have just yeah, imagined plenty of time.
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: Imagine messing up a credit card.
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying early in the game, and
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: and now you.
- 1:05:01Speaker 6: Feel about that though, because it's like I was watching
- 1:05:04Speaker 6: Cameron and Mason's show Shout Out to Him, and Mace
- 1:05:07Speaker 6: was telling the story. He was like he was talking
- 1:05:09Speaker 6: to his son playing basketball, and he's telling his son like, yo,
- 1:05:12Speaker 6: you gotta be hungry, like you gotta be hungry.
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: Out there, and he was like, but I'm not hungry.
- 1:05:16Speaker 6: I was like, it registered to him that how he
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: grew up, he can never his son can never have
- 1:05:20Speaker 6: an appreciation for that.
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: Like, so it's like, you have.
- 1:05:24Speaker 6: Children, you're an entrepreneur, you're you're highly successful, they're never
- 1:05:28Speaker 6: going to really have a full appreciation of the grit
- 1:05:32Speaker 6: or the grind. No, right, that's a blessing, but also
- 1:05:36Speaker 6: it's like it's also kind of a curse because.
- 1:05:40Speaker 11: You know what I'm saying like this, and I think
- 1:05:44Speaker 11: what people should do honestly, Like I'm never gonna I'm
- 1:05:48Speaker 11: never gonna put my kids in the ghetto and be
- 1:05:50Speaker 11: like you gotta you gotta feel.
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: How to feel, you gotta figure it out, survivor. Yeah,
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: but what I what I will do is that.
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: The opportunity to work for it, you know, Like I
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: feel like anybody in the household that got their kids
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: in a different environment, they should be able to make
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: their kids feel like it's.
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: A privilege to have it.
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: Like like I just said this in my backyard two
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: days ago. I was talking to my brother on the
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: phone and I'm like, Yo, my son is born in
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: a mansion, he's riding in MAYBEXX.
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: He's doing all these things I didn't have that.
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying, He already has things that
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: I've never had, you know, the privilege of it, right.
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: But the thing that I'm going to gear my son
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: up what I never had, is opportunity.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: Resource.
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: So those two things right there, we would have so
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: many more intelligent, successful African American people, people in general
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: in the world right now if you had those two
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: things right there, opportunity and resource. Right some people know
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: how to go create opportunity and some people need the
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: opportunity to create them. That's why it's only about two
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: to three percent of us in the world that's special
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: like that to know how to create opportunity. Like if
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: you go out there and create the opportunity and get
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: out of those four walls of the neighborhoods you're from,
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: and you know you be special that way, or you
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: sit in there and become the satistic of the environment.
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: For me, I'm gonna make sure that my kids know,
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: for one, it is another side of the world out
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: there that you don't want nothing to do with because
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: you can't handle it because you ain't never been in it.
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: But always know, to your highest high, you go back
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: in those communities and you be resources and opportunities to them.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: And that's what I want my kids to do.
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: I want them to be community leaders, and I want
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: them to be opportunity and resources to other communities around
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: the world, and I want them to provide, just provide
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: something powerful that's going to like right now. I think
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: I said it the you, Risha, when we was at Investments,
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: when I told you about the entrepreneur your leisure.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: I think y'all should do that.
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: I mean the juveniles, because it's a lot of kids
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: out here that's intelligent, right, they just don't have the
- 1:07:53Speaker 5: platform and the resource they that people can see that.
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: I remember, Man Pinky was at my grand opening and
- 1:07:59Speaker 5: uh Jonesboro Road location and it was this little kid,
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: man he walked up to me and blew me away.
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: Man the way he talked like, I can't believe the
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: words that was coming out of his mouth. And I
- 1:08:10Speaker 5: was just like, yo, somebody need to have a platform
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: for kids to be able to show who they are,
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: to express them, not having two parents in the household,
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: express where they stuck at.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: Right now, where they need help at.
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: And then then we can fix this all as one
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: pile right now, because you fix the problem before the
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: problem fixed it.
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: We talked about kids. Yeah, you have some, you have
- 1:08:31Speaker 8: one on the way, congratulations, thank you. Let's talk about succession.
- 1:08:35Speaker 8: Is that part of the business plan?
- 1:08:37Speaker 7: Mom has a brand, Dad has a brand that's under
- 1:08:40Speaker 7: the family umbrella. It's succession something you're thinking about. Is
- 1:08:44Speaker 7: that something that you've put in the business plan already?
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: Well, I'm I feel like we talk about this. They
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: could have the opportunity to be what they want to be.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: But you can look at Lebron James.
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: You see his kids playing basketball. I don't think that
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: you've been in the house with two serial entrepreneurs. Is
- 1:09:00Speaker 5: ain't gonna become one too. And my youngest right now,
- 1:09:03Speaker 5: my daughter, my youngest daughter right now, she's been here before.
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: She literally she's saying that ABC's and already you know
- 1:09:11Speaker 5: what I'm saying. And it's stuff that my children are
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: doing because of the opportunity that we have around the home.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: And I think it's organically gonna happen. I don't think
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: that we're gonna shove it down their throats. But I think,
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: you know, she never she never stops talking about business,
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: or I never stopped talking about business, and.
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: Directly not even knowing.
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: They could be a banana in the house and it
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: guy right, and we're trying to figure out a way,
- 1:09:34Speaker 5: come up with a method, and so bananas don't right.
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: It's like we're always thinking of ways to build. And
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: I think of kids here that they will always think
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: of ways to build too. So I think organically they
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: just going to be entrepreneurs. But some of my kids
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: might be sayers too, man, because I got some I
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: got some Mariah Carries in the crib.
- 1:09:53Speaker 6: Well, pleasure, my brother, thank you for joining us. Any
- 1:09:55Speaker 6: last words you want to leave the people with or
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: information out there?
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: Man, I say this on everything I get to say.
