- 0:01Take it from a guy that will be the first to tell you that
- 0:06making the change to be healthier, it's no easy chore or
- 0:12task in and of itself. Everybody thinks it's just real
- 0:19easy to get with a diet plan. A healthy 1 at that.
- 0:27Stay with it and just go from there.
- 0:31And even some will believe that, you know, you can exercise
- 0:35feverishly and hope that you'll be able to see dramatic results
- 0:41in an instant. There's just a couple things
- 0:47wrong with that. Number one, it doesn't just take
- 0:53a good diet and it certainly doesn't take exercising on the
- 0:59consistent basis to do the job. What it boils down to is that it
- 1:06takes a serious level of commitment, focus, effort and
- 1:15the fortitude to say to yourself, I've got to stay with
- 1:22it, even if I don't see what solves why away.
- 1:27And unfortunately for most people, especially nowadays,
- 1:30it's that part that always gets. I'm going to talk about how in a
- 1:40way, being healthy and making the switch to a healthier
- 1:44lifestyle isn't as always as easy as some people think.
- 1:53Now, compared to where I was eight years ago to now, I feel
- 2:00has healthier and better than I've ever been.
- 2:06But yes, eight years may seem like a long time and believe in
- 2:12life is, but it's also in the way a constant reminder of
- 2:19whenever I look back on myself. You know, I keep a picture of me
- 2:24conflicts like a keepsake as a stoic reminder of how far I have
- 2:30come in my health journey that I certainly do not want to go back
- 2:36to that point and I don't plan to.
- 2:41Now as far as yours truly is concerned, I've always had
- 2:46pretty much a easy guy. And by that I mean a strict guy
- 2:50that has worked for me for a lot of years.
- 2:56Although I will be the first to admit it wasn't easy at times.
- 3:01You know, getting ready for a lot of foods that I actually
- 3:06thought were going to be a part of my life even today.
- 3:11But one of the things I had to learn almost immediately was
- 3:15that all those good foods that you know you thought were good
- 3:20when you were a kid or even as a teenager slash young adult even,
- 3:28you find out fairly quickly you had to get rid of those because
- 3:34they just weren't good enough for you.
- 3:37Or even in some cases they had ran their course.
- 3:43And while I was soft, I will and men saying goodbye to a lot of
- 3:48those foods. It was something I had to do in
- 3:53order to save myself. But nonetheless, 8 years later,
- 4:00I'm still here. I'm still making it happen.
- 4:06I'm as healthy as I've ever been, and I'm thankful just for
- 4:11that. Now, for a lot of people, they
- 4:18always talk about wanting to make the transition to be more
- 4:23healthier, wanting to, you know, essentially come up with ways to
- 4:28try to have more of a healthier lifestyle.
- 4:31Now, talk's cheap. We understand, and people can
- 4:38say, well, I'm going to do this. Then the third as a switch up to
- 4:43my life so I can be more healthier.
- 4:47Easy to say, but there's several reasons why people ultimately,
- 4:56for one reason or another, always seem to find a way to
- 5:01literally hold themselves back from making that switch.
- 5:09But it's really a couple things which I'm about to explain in a
- 5:14second as to why that might be the case.
- 5:20Anybody can talk a big game as far as you know.
- 5:24I plan on losing weight this year or I plan now to eliminate
- 5:30some things as far as either food or beverage wise to become
- 5:35more healthier. But again, like a topic I had
- 5:42talked about earlier, what is the plan for?
- 5:46What do you plan on doing to actually make it happen?
- 5:51What are the steps are you willing to take in order to make
- 5:54sure that happens? And unfortunately, as with many
- 6:00things, that's where people get caught.
- 6:04You see, anybody can say that they want to lose weight and
- 6:08they're going to do this stand the third, but they don't
- 6:12usually have a straightforward plan for it.
- 6:19And there's actually several reasons why that might be the
- 6:22case. See #1 the commitment factor
- 6:30people nowadays and unfortunately this is a
- 6:32byproduct of society and more ways than one.
- 6:36The commitment part is so difficult now take it from
- 6:43someone who at various points start about giving up, wanting
- 6:48to be done with it and even had the thought of I don't know if
- 6:53this is even going to work now. We all want to be healthy
- 6:59overnight. I mean, I wouldn't lie and say I
- 7:02didn't think about having that same thought.
- 7:05But just like with Rome, which took several 100 years to build,
- 7:13you're not going to be healthy overnight and work people's
- 7:18attention spans. You know, it is what it is.
- 7:21But if you don't have the commitment within yourself to
- 7:25want to be healthy, then that's going to be your biggest
- 7:29problem. You can't ultimately say, well,
- 7:34I'm going to start out, let's say, being healthy.
- 7:38You know, things are slowly but surely going well.
- 7:41And then about two months to three months in, you're not
- 7:45seeing the gradual change you thought you had been hoping for.
- 7:52And then you get frustrated and you say, you know what, I tried,
- 7:56it didn't work, so the hell with it, I'm just going to give up
- 8:05now. Usually whenever that kind of
- 8:07thought process happens, it is usually hard to go back on
- 8:13because believe it or not, more people tend to just stroll in
- 8:17the towel and not stay with it as opposed to you know, just
- 8:24running. The process play itself out over
- 8:26time and that's really how people never ultimately achieve
- 8:33their goals. See when it comes to eliminating
- 8:41certain food groups and or drinks slash beverages, it
- 8:49really varies. If you want to have like a
- 8:52healthier diet per SE, it's very important to pick out
- 8:58specifically what to eliminate. See, in a lot of cases, a lot of
- 9:04people stick to well what they know to be as good or comfort
- 9:10food because that's the only foods they know how to really
- 9:15rely on. The issue becomes at a certain
- 9:20point, those same comfort foods end up being your detriment to
- 9:26your health. Now, I had mentioned all your
- 9:30diet to, you know, from when I was a kid to a young adult, I
- 9:35had to cut a lot of things, whether it was, you know, ramen
- 9:40noodles, hot dogs. Now in that case, I still eat
- 9:46one like if it's like on a cookout or 4th of July thing,
- 9:51but I had to get rid of those on a consistent basis, whether it
- 9:56was cookies, endless fruit snacks like the tasty ones, and
- 10:06really just sugary drinks in general, especially sauce and
- 10:09what have you. I had to say goodbye to a lot of
- 10:13those things and incorporate more healthier alternatives.
- 10:19Now mind you, it's OK to do things moderation.
- 10:25For example, I snack on chips as a snack.
- 10:29Like I don't do it all the time I got used to when I was a kid.
- 10:33Every once in a while I like, as I mentioned with hot dogs on
- 10:37occasion. I like a good cupcake as I go
- 10:40sweet and I really don't drink sodas as much as I used to.
- 10:46Although ginger ale slash Sprite I'm sorry isn't too bad either.
- 10:54But the key is either orange juice.
- 10:57I don't even drawing apple juice.
- 11:00But water your guy have water otherwise nothing else matters.
- 11:06And look, it's not going to be easy drawing out the things that
- 11:10you love, but it's something you have to do because in order for
- 11:15you to have a chance at long term health, you have to
- 11:21eliminate the comfort stuff. And you have to make the
- 11:26transition to the more healthier but uncomfortable things that
- 11:32you may not want, but you essentially need.
- 11:40Most people's problems is that they always seem to come up with
- 11:46one excuse after another as far as time management.
- 11:51Now see, and look, I get it. We all have things to do in our
- 11:56lives or situations that are going to come up that might
- 12:00handle us from being able to find the time and really space
- 12:06in some ways to exercise. But to me, and this is something
- 12:11I actually have to learn myself so I can speak on this, that's
- 12:15the ultimate cop out and work. You can find at least 30 minutes
- 12:21to at no more than an hour, you know, doing some form of
- 12:28exercising or even just walking around keeping your body moving
- 12:33isn't a bad thing here. See, when it comes to that, you
- 12:38know, people will say, oh, I don't really have the time.
- 12:41Do you go to a gym or exercise or this scenario came up so I
- 12:46have to address it, Stop. There's always time to exercise
- 12:54or to go to the gym. You just have to find a way.
- 12:59And this is where people slip up more than they realize.
- 13:04You have to find a way to manage that time because look, anybody
- 13:09can say that they don't have the time, right?
- 13:12But the question is, do you really not have the time or are
- 13:18you using it as a excuse to essentially not one exercise?
- 13:27Now look, on a good day for your surely.
- 13:29I work out about 5-6 days a week.
- 13:34I spend at best an hour, maybe an hour 30, or if I'm really
- 13:41getting going, two hours at most, exercising.
- 13:46Now, that might be, you know, a little strenuous for some,
- 13:50especially if you're trying to start out on this health
- 13:52journey. Understandably so.
- 13:56But you have to find a way to make time to exercise.
- 14:03But this is unfortunately in more ways than one, why society
- 14:08unfortunately has become too lazy.
- 14:12Because it seems to me people don't want to prioritize their
- 14:16health just for the sake of living, but yet they wanna
- 14:21century. It'll be on their phones, eat
- 14:24all the comfort food. They think it's good for them.
- 14:27And since we have a laissez faire attitude about it, unless
- 14:36you're dealing with a more significant, you know, health
- 14:40issue or medical condition that has prevented you from doing
- 14:45that, you know, in some cases, there is no reason for you to
- 14:50not spend at best 30 minutes to at least an hour to do something
- 14:58as far as exercising. But again, it's that lazy,
- 15:03complacent and laissez faire attitude that most people have
- 15:08nowadays that has essentially been their ultimate deterrent.
- 15:13And those same people will find now that if they don't get their
- 15:17asses in shape, it is going to eventually haunt them later in
- 15:23life. And by then, for some, it will
- 15:25be too late. And finally, this is the most
- 15:32important thing that I think if you're a person that wants to
- 15:36make that transition, you have to ask yourself, how bad do you
- 15:41want? See, again, in a society like
- 15:46this one, talk is really cheap and most times people don't
- 15:54always, you know, live up to what they say.
- 15:59That part is true. But as far as being healthy, how
- 16:03bad do you really want to be 'cause you see, anybody can sit
- 16:08there and tell you I plan on losing weight.
- 16:12You don't get to say that. And then ultimately for one
- 16:16reason unexcused or why I would not do it.
- 16:22So it's like you have to, before you even ask how bad do I want,
- 16:28you know, be healthy? You have to actually look within
- 16:31yourself and ask this instead. Will I be committed to it?
- 16:38See, like I had talked about with the commitment part
- 16:40earlier, the other thing that people usually don't ask
- 16:45themselves is, is that do I have the 42 within myself to be
- 16:53committed to do this? Anybody can sit there and talk a
- 16:58good game, but will they have the mentality of no matter how
- 17:05hard it gets, no matter how many days go by, let's say months,
- 17:11you know, have moved forward that if I don't see the results
- 17:17I had yearned for, almost merely will I pack it in and just give
- 17:22up? Look, take it from a guy that
- 17:26had to learn the hard way that yes, patience is a virtue, but
- 17:32as far as being healthy, you have to be patient.
- 17:36See, it's never enough just to you know you have a good to
- 17:41great diet, exercise vigorously and hope to see results.
- 17:48You have to learn to stay with it even when you may not be
- 17:52seeing it right off to get go and look.
- 17:55You may not see it within the first.
- 17:57What's the straw out there? You may not be able to see any
- 18:01results the first eights, OK, But the more you even look in
- 18:07the mirror and start to see a gradual change or if you have a
- 18:10scale at home and you weigh yourself, you will see how much
- 18:18having patience within yourself matters.
- 18:22And before you know it, you will have reached your goal that you
- 18:26have set when you decide to make this transition to a more
- 18:30healthier lifestyle. And then when you finally get to
- 18:34the end goal, you will essentially cry tears of joy
- 18:39because you stuck with it no matter how hard it got.
- 18:43So in the end, yes, being healthy and being in a
- 18:49healthier, more fit lifestyle, it's not built for everyone.
- 18:56It's not, you know, built for the weak minded and the fragile
- 19:02ones that don't believe they can do it.
- 19:05It's all about if you have to fortitude the wherewithal and
- 19:09the absolute commitment to be healthy, then there was no
- 19:14reason why you can't have it happen for you.
- 19:17Because you may not be able to see what's all today, may not
- 19:21even be able to see it tomorrow, but eventually you will see
- 19:25results.
